THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER MY 3 YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRED. I HAVE READ ON THE ONLINE FORUMS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. ALSO FROM TALKING TO MECHANICS IT APPEARS THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEMS WITH TRAILBLAZERS. *TR
I HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM THAT SO MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. AFTER FILLING MY TANK, WHEN I STARTED MY 2005 TRAILBLAZER THE GAUGE READ EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WAS ON. EVENTUALLY, THE NEEDLE DID MOVE TO WHERE I THINK IT WAS MAYBE AN ACCURATE READING. HOW ABOUT THE LUNGING FORWARD THE VEHICLE DOES WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT WHICH CAUSES A DANGER TO ANYONE POSSIBLE WALKING IN THE AREA. ALSO, FOR NO APPARENT REASON, MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE JUST STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE OWNED NOTHING BUT CHEVROLET'S FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS AND NEVER HAVE I BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH ANY VEHICLE AS I AM WITH THIS ONE. OH YEAH AND I AM ALSO LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. GAS GAUGE QUIT WORKING, COST TO FIX AT DEALERSHIP EST. $1800, EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER FROM HIGH TO LOW BEAM WHILE DRIVING, DEALERSHIP CANT FIND PROBLEM, CAR SEEMS TO "JUMP" OR LEAP FORWARD WHILE COASTING OR WHEN APPLY BRAKE, DEALERSHIP CANT FIND THE PROBLEMS OR CAUSE, CAR STALLS AND RPM DROP IF GAS PEDAL NOT PUSHED, WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED AUTOMATICALLY AND WONT TURN OFF. HAD TO TAKE FUSE OUT, THEREFORE NO WIPERS. ALL THESE ITEMS ARE A SAFETY HAZARD TO THE FAMILY DRIVING. THE ONLY PROBLEM THE DEALERSHIP COULD FIND WAS THE GAS GAUGE SENSOR WHICH IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND COST $1800. ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER IS GOING WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE OR RECOMMENDED ONE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. NO ONE CAN FIND THE "PROBLEM". *TR

2005 TRAILBLAZER FUEL SENSOR UNIT. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MR. TURNER, FROM THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE AT GENERAL MOTORS, DETROIT MICHIGAN, CONCERNING THE MANY LETTERS I HAVE SENT TO GENERAL MOTORS. 'IN A NUTSHELL' HE SAID 'GM HAS NOT RECEIVED ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FUEL SENSOR UNIT AND BASICALLY I WAS NOT BEING TRUTHFUL CONCERNING THE UNIT' I REFERRED, HIM TO THIS PARTICULAR WEB SITE AND HIS COMMENT WAS 'IF COMPLAINTS WAS NOT COMING FROM THE CUSTOMERS OR DEALER, THE COMMENTS WAS BASIC USELESS' HE SUGGESTED, THAT I TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER, AT THAT POINT THEY WOULD DETERMINE THE PROBLEM AND 'MAYBE' THEY 'MIGHT DO SOMETHING' IN OTHER WORDS, YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT EVERYONE BOMBARD THE PRESIDENT / CEO OF GENERAL MOTORS WITH COMPLAINT LETTERS CONCERNING THE FUEL SENSOR OR CONTACT MR. TURNER AT THE NUMBER HE GAVE ME [XXX]. MY 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER KEEPS LOSING POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL,I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY HAD IT FOR 2 DAYS THEY REPLACED ACC PEDAL SENSOR I TOOK CAR HOME AND THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN SAME DAY. IT COST ME 442 DOLLARS TO REPAIR AND I HAVE TO GO BACK TO DEALER TOMORROW WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS IN THIS CASE CAN THEY CHARGE ME AGAIN TO FIX THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN 2007. WHILE DRIVING 30MPH, HE NOTICED A BURNING WIRE ODOR, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND DISCOVERED THAT A FIRE ERUPTED UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS; HOWEVER, THERE WAS A 10-INCH AMP THAT SHOULD HAVE BLOWN THE FUSE TO PREVENT A FIRE FROM OCCURRING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 107,000. UPDATED 10/03/08 *BF UPDATED 10/07/08. 8JB
ON OR ABOUT JULY 20TH, 2008 THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WOULD NOT COME ON ONCE TURNING THE KEY TO ACC, OR STARTING THE TRUCK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLICKERS WHEN STARTING AND WITHIN 10 SECONDS TURNS OFF. AT NO POINT IN TIME WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED OR DISTANCE WILL THE INSTRUMENT GAUGES OR LIGHTS COME ON. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED IN ORDER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE PASS INSPECTION, AS THIS IS A FAULTY SYSTEM DUE TO THE MANUFACTURER AND NOT OPERATOR ERROR OR ABUSE THE FINANCIAL BURDEN SHOULD REST ON THE MAKER AND NOT THE END USER. *TR
GAUGE CLUSTER INACCURATELY DISPLAYS FUEL LEVEL, OIL PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE. OCCURS DAILY. *TR
MY SON WAS BACKING OUT OF HIS GIRLFRIEND'S DRIVEWAY AND HE TURNED THE WHEEL SHARP AND THE SHAFT INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN BROKE. LUCKILY HE WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED. I HAVEN'T MADE ANY REPAIRS YET BUT WILL TODAY OR TOMORROW. THE STEERING COLUMN AND CLOCK SPRING WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I AM GOING TO SAVE THE STEERING COLUMN IN CASE YOU NEED TO INSPECT IT. *TR
MY SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 TRAILBLAZER ONLY WORKS SPORADICALLY. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW. SOMETIMES IT STICKS AT 0 EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, SOMETIMES IT SHOWS THAT I AM GOING FASTER THAN WHAT I AM (I.E. SHOWING 110 WHEN MY GPS UNIT SHOWED 70), AND MOST OF THE TIME IT SHOWS I AM GOING SLOWER THAN I AM, BY AT LEAST 5-10 MPH. I WAS RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM WHEN I DISCOVERED THAT A LARGE NUMBER OF GM VEHICLES HAVE THIS PROBLEM, BUT THAT GM HAS ONLY ISSUED RECALLS ON A COUPLE OF SPECIFIC VEHICLES. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY TOLD ME TO GO GET A DIAGNOSTIC RUN AT MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP, AND THAT THEY COULD PROBABLY FIX IT FOR ME EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I WENT AND HAD THE DIAGNOSTIC DONE, AND GM CALLED ME BACK AND TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS INDEED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, BUT DUE TO THE AGE AND MILEAGE OF MY VEHICLE, THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT. THEY DID ADMIT THAT SEVERAL OF THEIR VEHICLES HAD SERVICE BULLETINS ON THIS EXACT PROBLEM, BUT THAT THE 2005 TRAILBLAZER WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WITH 32,000 MILES. I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW FROM THE DEALER. OVER THE FEW YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE, I HAVE BEEN FACED WITH A MULTITUDE OF ISSUES. MY FIRST PROBLEM BECAME THE AC LINES. THEY BEGAN TO LEAK DUE TO RUST, WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE 7 YEAR, 70,000 MILE WARRANTY. NEXT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BEGAN TO LEAK. THE COST WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THE DEALER MANAGED TO BREAK THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE MANIFOLD TO THE ENGINE. THE BREAKAGE WAS NOT COVERED, AND THEREFORE, I HAD TO PAY. FOLLOWING THESE TWO ISSUES, I NOTICED RUST ALL OVER THE UNDERCARRIAGE. IN THE PAST THREE YEARS, AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED, I HAD TO FIX THE FOLLOWING ITEMS DUE TO THE RUST: THE POWER STEERING COIL, REAR END, TRANSMISSION, FUEL PUMP, POWER STEERING LINES, POWER STEERING PUMP, RACK AND PINION, FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS, AND A FUEL GAGE RECALL FROM GM. IN ADDITION, I AVOID USING LOW 4-WHEEL DRIVE, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE GETS STUCK IN THAT GEARING. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE SAYS ITS EMPTY BUT I HAVE GAS. MY ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON EVERY TIME I START THE CAR. *TR

I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE FUEL GAUGE SOMETIMES READS ALL THE WAY FULL OR ALL THE WAY EMPTY OR SOMETIMES 1/4 TANK AND THIS COULD LEAD TO ME RUNNING OUT OF GAS AT WORST TIMES. IF I RAN OUT OF GAS ON THE INTERSTATE OR HIGHWAY IT COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND RESULT IN A FATALITY OR INJURIES. I DID NOT KNOW I COULD REPORT SUCH PROBLEMS THAT'S WHY I AM DOING IT NOW INSTEAD OF WHEN IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. MY VEHICLE HAS RECENTLY REACHED 41,000 MILES., AND THE GAS GAUGE HAS STARTED FLOATING. I USUALLY DO A FILL UP AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. NO MATTER WHAT LEVEL THE GAS IS AT, THE GAUGE DOES NOT READ PROPERLY. AT THIS POINT, I HAVE TO MAINTAIN MORE THAN A HALF OF A TANK OF GAS. IF I DON'T, THE NEEDLE FLOATS OVER TO "E" CAUSING MY LOW FUEL LIGHT TO COME ON. I KNOW A FEW OTHERS WHO OWN A CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY CHEVY THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL ISSUE. *TR
JUST WANT TO ADDRESS THE GAS GAUGE AND SPEEDOMETER ISSUES. I HAVE A 05 TRAILBLAZER AND HAD BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS. FORTUNATELY I WORK WITH A GREAT DEALERSHIP AND I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE GM WOULD DO NOTHING AND THE FIXES ARE VERY EXPENSIVE. YOU CAN LIVE WITH THE GAS GAUGE NOT READING CORRECTLY BY TRACKING YOUR MILEAGE BUT THE STUPID BELL GOES OFF ALL THE TIME TELLING YOU YOUR NEAR EMPTY BUT YOU CANNOT DRIVE SAFELY IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING AND YOU CERTAINLY CANNOT GO WITH THE FLOW AS EVERYONE SEEMS TO DRIVE FASTER THAN ALLOWED AND I DO NOT THINK THE OFFICER WHO PULLS YOU OVER WILL CARE IF YOUR SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK. I ALSO NOTICE THAT MY INTERIOR PANEL LIGHTS WILL FLASH OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, MAKES ME THINK I AM SEEING THINGS. I THINK GM NEEDS TO FIND ANSWERS AND FIX THESE PROBLEMS. THIS IS AN IMMENSE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE SHARED MY CONCERNS WITH MY LAWYER AND IF A RECALL IS NOT ISSUED TO ALL THE CHEVY TRAILBLAZER OWNERS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT WILL COSTS GM MUCH MORE MONEY THAN A RECALL. AT ABOUT 60,000 MILES I NOTICED FUEL GAUGE REGISTERED EMPTY WHEN I SHOULD HAVE HAD 3/4 OF TANK, FROM THEN ON IT WOULD REGISTER AFTER THE CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR 10-15 MINS, NOW NOTHING IT STAYS ON EMPTY OR RARELY IT WILL REGISTER LESS THEN A 1/4 TANK AND WHEN IT REGISTERS EMPTY THE DINGING GOES OFF EVERY 5 MINS TELLING ME I NEED FUEL. ASKED DEALER AND WAS TOLD I SHOULD LIVE WITH IT THAT IT AS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX. WHAT IS THAT, I TRAVEL ALOT AND INTO AREAS WHERE THERE MAY BE NO STATIONS FOR A LONG DISTANCE AND IN VERY REMOTE AREAS. CHEVY TRAILBLAZER FUEL LEVEL SENSOR QUIT WORKING AT 60,000 AND DEALER WANTS 500.00 TO REPAIR. GAGE STARTED SHOWING EMPTY AFTER FILLING UP, NOW IT ONLY GOES TO 1/4 TANK OR EMPTY. I HAVE TO USE TRIP METER TO KEEP UP WITH FUEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL INDICATOR FAILED AND HE WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH FUEL WAS ACTUALLY IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER AGREED TO COVER FIFTY PERCENT OF THE REPAIR COSTS HOWEVER, THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THEY SHOULD COVER THE TOTAL COST. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 119,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
I WAS STOPPED FOR MY TAIL LIGHT BEING OUT. THE NEXT DAY, I REPLACED ALL OF THE FUSES IN THE REAR OF MY TRAILBLAZER. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO WORK, BUT THEN TWO WEEKS LATER I WAS STOPPED AGAIN FOR MY TAIL LIGHTS NOT WORKING. I REPLACED ALL THE FUSES, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ON ONE SIDE (PASSENGER SIDE) THEN CHECKED THE CIRCUIT BOARD, STILL THE TOP TAIL LIGHT WILL NOT WORK. FOUND OUT THAT IT DOES NOT WORK, WHEN HEAD LIGHTS ARE ON..THAT IS WHY I WAS GETTING PULLED OVER AT NIGHT. ONLY ONE TAIL LIGHT IS NOT WORKING AND I CAN NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE I KEEP GETTING PULLED OVER BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. IT COMES OUT OF THE BLUE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY RIGHT BLINKER SOMETIMES BLINKS REALLY FAST. ALSO, OVER THE PAST MONTH I HAVE EXPERIENCED A TOTAL POWER FAILURE IN MY TRAILBLAZER. NOTHING WILL WORK...ITS LIKE THE CAR WAS UNPLUGGED...TOTALLY OUT AND WILL NOT TURN OVER, NO LIGHTS, RADIO AND POWER TO IGNITION...SOMETIMES I CAN NOT REMOVE MY KEY OR CHANGE INTO NEUTRAL....COMPLETELY DRAINED OF ALL POWER...WHERE I NEED A JUMP, THEN IT WORKS FINE, BUT THE TAIL LIGHT IS STILL OUT WHEN MY HEAD LIGHTS ARE ON. I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. CAR IS IN FINE CONDITION BUT FOR SOME REASON THE CAR DIED. IT RESTARTED AND RAN RUFF. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD ME TOW IT IN. THEY RAN "TESTS" AND SAID MY BATTERY TERMINALS WERE LOOSE. I TOLD THEM I DID NOT AGREE. THEY SAID THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING. TODAY JUNE 2 RUSH OUR APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION CAR JUST DIED AGAIN. THE DEALER HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE THEY DID PRODUCE A GM DOCUMENT (#2046572) THAT DID ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS REPAIRED. THE FUEL GAUGE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.

I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE ALL OF THEM SOON TO KEEP MY FAMILY AND MYSELF SAFE. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH THE SAME CONTINENTAL TIRES ON THE SAME VEHICLE. SHE HAS HAD TO REPLACE HER TIRES AND I THINK HER VEHICLE IS A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. A FEW WEEKS AGO, ONE TIRE SIMPLY SHREDDED TO PIECES AS SHE DROVE ALONG ON THE EXPRESSWAY. I NOTICED THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT IN ORLANDO, FL WITH A GMC ENVOY IN WHICH A BLOWN TIRE WAS REPORTED AS THE REASON FOR THE ACCIDENT IN WHICH THE VEHICLE FLIPPED AND TRAPPED A TEENAGER INSIDE. I AM REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THESE TIRES AND WOULD LIKE FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE A SERIOUS LOOK AT THE QUALITY BEFORE MORE LIVES ARE ENDANGERED. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST OR SLOW THAT YOU ARE GOING AND YOU POSE A RISK TO OTHERS AS WELL. CHEVROLET WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER THEIR RECALL EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE ALREADY RECALLED 2003-2004 TRAILBLAZERS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. LATE EVENING, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY IN A SNOW STORM AND SUDDENLY MY ENGINE POWER DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY. I COULD NOT GO OVER 10 MPH AND BARELY MADE IT UP THE OFF RAMP TO BE STRANDED 3 1/2 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME. I SPENT A TOTAL OF $700 TO GET THE ALTERNATOR AND I-PULLEY REPLACED.
