I OWN A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT, DURING THE SUMMER HEAT I OPENED THE TOP PART OF THE BACK HATCH (THE GLASS AREA) AND THE ENTIRE LEFT SIDE OF THE HATCH DETACHED FROM THE CAR, LIFTING THE PLASTIC MOLDING ON TOP OF THE VEHICLE HOLDING THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT. THE BOTTOM PART OF THIS "HINGE" WAS ONLY ATTACHED WITH AN ADHESIVE WHICH OBVIOUSLY MELTED FROM THE FLORIDA HEAT AND DISASSEMBLED. AT THIS POINT I CAN NO LONGER LIFT THE BACK GLASS OR THE ENTIRE REAR HATCH. CHEVROLET WILL NOT REPAIR OR COMPENSATE US FOR REPAIR OF THIS ISSUE AS THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY STATED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM ON SOME TAHOES, YUKONS AND TRAILBLAZERS AND IT WOULD COST AROUND $1700 TO FIX THIS "DEFECT". *TR
THE WINDSHIELD WASHER AND WIPER START AND STOP ON THEIR OWN. THE ON/OFF SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION AND THEY STAY ON. WHEN THE WASHER HAS WATER IT SPRAYS CONSTANTLY. *TR
FUEL GAUGE HAS FAILED. AT ANY GIVEN TIME, I AM UNCERTAIN OF THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN MY GAS TANK. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER, THEY SAID THEY WOULD DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FOR $99, AND THE REPAIR COULD COST $600 - $800. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY GM AS PART OF A RECALL. SINCE I COULD RUN OUT OF GAS AT ANY TIME, IT IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER. THE CONTACT REFUELED THE VEHICLE AND THE FUEL SENSOR AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE STATING THEY HAD NOT SEEN THE TYPE OF FAILURE BEFORE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,300. UPDATED 11/19/10. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED, BUT AT HER EXPENSE. UPDATED 12/02/10*JB
WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LT THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT IT IS THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. HOWEVER, IN THE MIDST OF THIS THE SUV RAIN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. I WAS NEARLY HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE COST ME MY LIFE AS I HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT I WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS BECAUSE THE GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THOUSANDS OF CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS FROM 2002 THROUGH 2008 ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. I FOUND THIS BY DOING A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH. I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTIES BUT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH TRAILBLAZERS AND ENVOYS. IN ADDITION TO THE CURRENT ISSUE, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PASS SAFETY INSPECTION IN GA WITHOUT PAYING THE $600 TO GET THIS FIXED. MY INSPECTION IS COMING UP IN AUGUST. *TR
FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM NEEDLE BOUNCING FROM E TO F AFTER TANK IS FILLED. ONCE THE GAS TANK IS FILLED TO THE MAX, THE E GAS LIGHT COMES ON, AND DOES NOT GO OFF. *TR
ERRATIC FUEL GAUGE FOR COUPLE OF DAYS AND ABRUPT ENGINE POWER LOSS, FUEL GAUGE STAYED BELOW EMPTY MARK EVEN AFTER FULL FILL UP.
I AM SUBMITTING ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS, WITH REGARDS TO FUEL LEVEL SENSOR PROBLEMS, THAT GM HAS ACKNOWLEDGED A FAULTY PRODUCT WAS INSTALLED ON SUCH VEHICLES AND OFFERED TO PAY 50% OF REPAIR COSTS TO FIX THE FUEL LEVEL SENSORS/TRANSMITTERS - BY SENDING LETTERS TO CURRENT OWNERS. A RECALL IS THE RIGHT WAY GOING FORWARD!! IS THERE ANY WAY THAT THIS COULD BE ADDRESSED/ENFORCED? THANK YOU *TR
DUE TO A MECHANICAL FAILURE, I HAD TO HAVE THE FUEL SENSOR REPLACED IN MY 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND SEEMED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY UNTIL I WAS STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD A FEW MONTHS AGO WITH MY YOUNG CHILD. THE GAS GAUGE WAS AGAIN GIVING FALSE READINGS AND MY VEHICLE HAD RUN OUT OF FUEL. AS IT STANDS NOW, I WILL HAVE REPLACE THE EQUIPMENT FOR THE SECOND TIME IN A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD. AFTER MY EXPERIENCE OF SUDDENLY HAVING NO FUEL, I CAN CERTAINLY SAY IT CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING. IF THERE HAD BEEN MORE TRAFFIC IN MY VICINITY, I DON'T KNOW THAT I WOULD HAVE BEEN AS FORTUNATE AS I WAS. *TR
I OWN A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER THAT HAS A FUEL GAUGE ISSUE. WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO MY ENGINE STALLED WITH THE FUEL GAUGE READING ONE QUARTER OF A TANK. COME TO FIND OUT I WAS OUT OF FUEL. CURRENTLY THE FUEL GAUGE CONSTANTLY READS EMPTY WITH THE FUEL LIGHT ON EVEN AFTER FILLING THE TANK. I BELIEVE THE INABILITY TO CORRECTLY KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL I HAVE IS QUITE A SAFETY ISSUE. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY OF THE 2006 TRAILBLAZERS. *TR
FRONT AXLE OF 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER BECAME UNATTACHED FROM THE TRANSFER CASE. *TR
FILLED WITH PREMIUM FUEL, STARTED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND FUEL GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY. GAUGE WILL WORK FROM TIME TO TIME BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T GO OUT. *TR
MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT FUEL GAUGE SENSOR FAILED AT 48000 MILES RESULTING WITH NO WAY OF KNOWING HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK WHICH COULD RESULT IN ENGINE STALLING AND/OR REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER OR PULLING OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND BROAD SIDED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD NOT REGISTER THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,000.

2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER - BOUGHT AT 11,000 MILES IN MARCH 2007. NOW, AT 46,000 MILES, JUST AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED, I HAVE FUEL GAUGE FAILURE; AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS; 4WD PROBLEMS. *TR
BAD FUEL LEVEL SENSOR MAKES THE GAS GAUGE SHOW EMPTY UPON FILLING THE TANK UNTIL THE FUEL LEVEL IN THE TANK FALLS TO A SUFFICIENT LEVEL TO CAUSE THE GAUGE TO DISPLAY ERRATIC AND FALSE READINGS. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE WHICH CONTINUES TO BE A CONSTANT PROBLEM. FUEL LEVEL NOW MUST BE ESTIMATED THROUGH THE USE OF THE TRIP ODOMETER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY AND THE FUEL GAUGE WAS NOT PROVIDING AN ACCURATE READING. THE FUEL GAUGE EVENTUALLY FAILED COMPLETELY AND THE READING REMAINED ON EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: DP10001 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM) WHICH WAS AN INVESTIGATION THAT COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
I OWN A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. MY FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR IS NOT WORKING IN THE VEHICLE. MY GAS GAUGE NOW ALWAYS READS EMPTY EVEN AFTER FILLING THE VEHICLE UP. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED. I AM BEING TOLD THEY HAVE TO TAKE THE WHOLE GAS TANK OUT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. SINCE I AM NOT ABLE TO AFFORD THAT FIX I HAVE BEEN DOING RESEARCH ON THE SUBJECT, IT TURNS OUT THERE ARE A TON OF FOLKS WITH THIS VEHICLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. RECENTLY, DUE TO THIS PROBLEM MY CAR STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING THROUGH A GREEN LIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER OFF THE ROAD. BUT IF I HAD BEEN IN A BUSY INTERSECTION, IT MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE ENDED IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
FUEL GAUGE WILL NOT WORK WHEN UNDER 1/2 FULL TANK. WHEN YOU FILL UP WITH GAS. GAUGE READS EMPTY AND WILL NOT START WORKING UNTIL TANK IS HALF FULL. *TR
FIRST OF ALL MY FUEL LEVER SENSOR WENT OUT. I ONLY FIGURED IT OUT WHEN I WAS IN A BUSY SHOPPING INTERSECTION AND MY VEHICLE JUST SHUT DOWN. LUCKY FOR ME NO CAR REAR ENDED ME BUT ONE DID COME CLOSE. AT THE TIME AS FAR I KNEW MY CAR HAD OVER HALF A TANK OF GAS IN IT. COME TO FIND OUT LATE IT DIDN'T. TO MY EMBARRASSMENT I SLOWED AND STOPPED TRAFFIC FOR CLOSE TO AN HOUR WHILE I CALLED FOR HELP AND HAD TO BE TOWED. MY MECHANIC EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM (THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR) AND GAVE ME TWO OPTIONS GET THE PART REPLACE OR KEEP TRACK OF THE MILEAGE AND GAS I PUT IN DAILY, BECAUSE OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE PART PLUS LABOR I DECIDED TO KEEP TRACK OF THE MILEAGE INSTEAD OF HAVING IT REPLACED. NOW I'M HAVING A WHOLE OTHER ISSUE I AM ONLY ABLE TO PUMP $10 OF GAS AT A TIME BECAUSE NOW MY FUEL PUMP WENT OUT ALSO. WHEN I PUMP GAS MY CAR THINKS THAT IT HAS GAS WHEN IT DOESN'T. NOW I HAVE NO OPTION BUT THE GET MY CAR REPAIRED FOR BOTH ISSUES OF WHICH I AM DOING THIS WEEK. THIS IS SERIOUSLY RIDICULOUS. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES WITH THIS NEW OF A CAR. 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WITH 12000 MILES HAS INOPERATIVE GASOLINE GAUGE. ALWAYS READS ZERO. CAN'T PASS SMOG TEST. COMMON PROBLEM SINCE 2005. *TR
2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LS SUDDENLY HAS NON OPERATIONAL FUEL GAUGE. AFTER FILLING UP THE VEHICLE WITH GAS(THE GAUGE WAS READING AT ABOUT 1/4 FULL A TIME OF FUELING) UPON RESTARTING THE EMPTY FUEL LIGHT HAS COME ON. THE GAUGE ITSELF THEN DROPPED BELOW THE 1/4 FULL TANK PREVIOUS READING ALL THE WAY TO ZERO. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. BUT AFTER COMING HOME AND READING ONLINE COMPLAINTS THIS A SHOCKINGLY COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MODEL GM VEHICLE(AND NOT JUST A TEMPORARY GLITCH, ONE THAT NEVER GOES AWAY AFTER IT HAPPENS, BUT A GAS GAUGE THAT FROM THEN ON ALWAYS READS EMPTY). A NON OPERATIONAL SYSTEM FOR FUEL LEVEL IS A CONSIDERABLE SAFETY HAZARD. IT IS THE ONLY THING TO ACCURATELY MEASURE THE ENERGY THAT REMAINS TO RUN THE CAR. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE ON OUR 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER HAS FAILED ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON RESULTING FROM NUMEROUS CODES. THE ENTIRE FUEL PUMP/FILTER/SENDING UNIT HAS TO BE REPLACED (A $300 PART) AND THE VEHICLE WON'T PASS AND INSPECTION WITHOUT IT. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM AND REFUND OWNERS WHO HAVE SPENT MONEY FIXING THE PROBLEM IF THEY WANT TO CONTINUE TO STAY IN BUSINESS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT NOTICE. STOPPED AT NEXT CONVENIENCE STORE, CHECKED ALL FUSES AND ALL WERE GOOD. STARTED IGNITION AND LIGHTS STILL DID NOT WORK. CHECKED HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND THEY WORKED. FOLLOWED UP WITH MECHANIC THE FOLLOWING MORNING. COULD NOT DIAGNOSE PROBLEM AND REFERRED TO A LOCAL DEALER. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS BEING A FAULTY BCM. BCM WAS REPLACED. APPROX. 8 WEEKS LATER, SAME PROBLEM W/LOW BEAM LIGHTS NOT WORKING. DEALER REPLACED RELAY. NOW LOW BEAMS WORK, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON AND FUEL GAUGE HAS STOPPED WORKING. *TR
GAS GAUGE ON 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WHEN STARTED SHOWS CORRECT FUEL LEVEL. AFTER SEVERAL MILES OF DRIVING GAUGE DROPS TO ZERO AND WARNING LIGHT AND CHIME IS ACTIVATED. GAUGE SHOWS CORRECTLY EACH TIME ENGINE IS STARTED. DEALER SAID MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS TYPE, BUT NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. IT IS A BAD SENDING UNIT IN THE FUEL PUMP. GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE DROPPED AND PARTS REPLACED AT A COST OF $800.00. *TR

DEFECTIVE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR ON 2006 TRAILBLAZER SS. GAS GAUGE ALWAYS READS EMPTY. VERY DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE VEHICLE. RAN OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS ALMOST HIT TRYING TO GET TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. *TR
FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN TANK, AND AT TIMES BLOWS FUEL GAUGE FUSE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC SHOP WHO ADVISED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1200. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
FUEL GAUGE REGISTERS EMPTY EVEN WHEN TANK IS FULL. *TR
MY 2006 TRAILBLAZER WAS PARKED OUTSIDE NEXT TO MY HOME FOR 2 HOURS. IT SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE I WAS INSIDE ASLEEP. IT ENDED UP BURNING MY WHOLE HOUSE DOWN. WHEN I WOKE UP TO SEE FLAMES COMING FROM THE CAR INTO MY HOUSE, I CALLED 911 AND GOT MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN OUT OF THE HOUSE. MY CAR AND HOUSE WERE A TOTAL LOSS. I RECENTLY HEARD OF RECALL SAYING DON'T PARK YOUR 2006 TRAILBLAZER NEAR YOUR HOUSE...EVEN WHEN OFF IT MIGHT CATCH ON FIRE. I AM WONDERING IF THIS RECALL IS WHAT MADE MY CAR CATCH ON FIRE. THE EXACT CAUSE WAS NOT DETERMINED...IT WAS JUST DETERMINED IT WAS SPONTANEOUS . I WISH I HAD KNOWN OF RECALL IN 2010, AND WE WOULDN'T HAVE GONE THROUGH THIS NIGHTMARE!
2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING PROPERLY, WHILE DRIVING THE NEEDLE FROM THE FUEL GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY AND SLOWLY RETURNS BACK SHOW THE CORRECT AMOUNT FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TRAILBLAZERS AND COST IS ABOUT $500.00 FOR REPAIRS, SENSOR IN THE FUEL TANK NEEDS REPLACED UNABLE TO TAKE VEHICLE ON ANY TRIPS AND HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE ON HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK BY CHECKING THE TRIP ODOMETER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING WAS BURNED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GASOLINE FUEL, THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR DISPLAYED AN EMPTY FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. IN ONE INSTANCE, THE VEHICLE STALLED BECAUSE THERE WAS NO GASOLINE IN THE VEHICLE AND THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR DISPLAYED INACCURATE FUEL LEVELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED IN RELATION TO THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 113,000.
AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, WE HEADED DOWN THE ROAD. A DINGING STARTED SO I LOOKED DOWN TO SEE THAT MY GAS GAUGE WAS READING E. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS VEHICLE I FOUND OUT THAT IF I SET MY TRIP TO NOT GO OVER 200 MILES BEFORE FILLING THE GAS TANK, DUE TO THE GAUGE ALWAYS READS E. AFTER A WHILE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND HAD THEM HOOK IT UP TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS THE SENDING UNIT THAT WAS READING BAD. WE HAVE E-CHECK IN OUR STATE. MY VEHICLE FAILED BECAUSE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I NOW HAVE TO SPEND AT LEAST 300.00 TO GET THIS FIXED SO THAT MY VEHICLE WILL PASS E-CHECK SO THAT I CAN GET THE TAGS THAT I NEED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN A BIG ISSUE AND DISAPPOINTMENT FOR US. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER AND TODAY AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 35000 MILES AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW. AFTER DOING A SEARCH ONLINE IT SEEMS THAT THIS HAPPENS TO EVERYONE THAT OWNS ONE OF THESE VEHICLES AND THE REPAIR RANGES FROM $800 TO $1100. IF THIS IS SUCH A WELL KNOWN FLAW, SHOULDN'T THERE BE A RECALL TO HAVE THIS CORRECTED? I DON'T THINK THAT EVERY CONSUMER SHOULD BE ON THE HOOK TO CORRECT AN OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION SINCE THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
FUEL GAUGE BEGAN OPERATING ERRATICALLY AND NOW IS INOPERABLE. *TR
THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ON MY TRAILBALZER HAS FAILED AND I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS SEVERAL TIMES CAUSING DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. I HAVE HAD TO CALL AAA SEVERAL TIMES. THE REPAIR JOB WILL COST ABOUT $800 AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO DO IT. THE GAS TANK MUST BE PULLED DOWN AND THE ENTIRE FUEL PUMP/SENDING UNIT MUST BE REPLACED BY A MECHANIC. IT IS A DANGEROUS JOB. I THINK GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND REPAIR FREE TO THE OWNERS I KNOW OF SEVERAL OTHERS RUNNING WITH THE SAME CONDITION. IT WILL NOT PASS NEW YORK STATE INSPECTION WITH THIS CONDITION...THANK YOU.
GAS GAUGE ISSUE FUEL SENDING UNIT ISSUE WITH 2006 TRAILBLAZER. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. THE FUEL GAUGE GIVES EMPTY READING MOST OF THE TIME AND WILL THEN SHOW A HIGH FUEL LEVEL READING. I HAVE 105000 MILES ON IT. THE FUEL LEVEL READING CAN NOT BE TRUSTED. THIS STARTED AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK ON TIME. IT WAS NOT OVERFILLED. *TR
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR QUIT WORKING SO THAT GAS TANK ALWAYS SHOWED EMPTY. AN EXHAUSTIVE INTERNET SEARCH TURNED UP A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. TRIED TO GET CHEVY TO REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY AS A KNOWN FAILURE BUT THEY WOULD NOT. FINALLY PAID A DEALER TO FIX IT. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM TO CHEVY THAT THEY FAILED TO RECALL OR FIX.
SPRING OF 2010, I ENCOUNTERED AN ERRATIC MALFUNCTING FUEL GAS. I ACTUALLY RAN OUT OF GAS JUST ONCE! GAUGE WOULD SHOW FULL, EMPTY, FUEL LIGHT ON, GAUGE MOVING UP AND DOWN. SOME DAYS IT WORKED FINE. I FINALLY HAD THE "FUEL PUMP ASSY / SENDER UNIT" REPLACED AT A COST OF $762. THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM. NOT HAPPY!
IN MAY 2010, MY 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AND OFF. WHEN I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC, HE SAID IT WOULD BE ABOUT $800-$1,000 TO FIX. OF COURSE THIS IS AN EXTREME EXPENSE CONSIDERING THAT I AM A TEACHER AND CLEARLY DO NOT MAKE ENOUGH MONEY TO BE ABLE TO PAY FOR SUCH A REPAIR. I WAS TOLD IF I KEEP IT ON THE TRIP AND JUST GET GAS BEFORE 275 MILES, I SHOULD BE OK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUED TO COME ON AND OFF...THE FUEL GAUGE ALWAYS READS EMPTY. NOW, A YEAR LATER I AM STILL BATTLING THIS, BUT NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL OF THE TIME! I'M READING ONLINE AND SEEING THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE ALSO HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHY HASN'T GM RECALLED THIS SO THAT PEOPLE WILL ACTUALLY FEEL SAFE WHEN THEY ARE DRIVING THEIR 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS. FROM WHAT I AM READING, EVERYONE HAS THE PROBLEM WHEN THEIR WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. NO ONE IS BUYING HT EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE UNTIL THEN, THERE ARE NOT ANY REAL PROBLEMS WITH THE 2006 TRAILBLAZER.
