The car does not recognize when the vehicle is in park. It will ding an error at you so you are unable to leave your vehicle. This error will continue to go off until you can find a trick to shut the car down. I work downtown and need to park in a garage. I was left sitting with an alarm going off for several days while I searched for tricks on my phone to get the error to turn off. I am a single female and I was put at risk because my car would not turn off. I had to sit in the garage alone until I could find a way to be able to leave my car.
When the vehicle is in park the “shift to park” error comes up on the dash board and the car can not be turned off. This appears to be a common issue and a recall needs to happen.
When my vehicle has been shifted into park (the transmission shifter shifted into P for Park) and the engine has been turned off a "shift into Park" warning message is displayed on the dashboard and a warning chime sounds. My vehicle's ignition remains ON and the audio system does not shut off. The transmission shifter shows the P (Park selection) P as red indicating the transmission is in park and the transmission shifter is locked in the park position. I must restart my vehicle and re-shift the transmission selector back into park multiple times before my vehicle turns the vehicle's ignition to OFF.
Led tail lamp burned internally. There are no fuses in for any of these lamps in the owners manual. Dealership blamed the non functional light on water damage without having even investigated what was wrong. Chevy's own TSB states moisture normal(01-08-42-001L). I personally removed the lamp after the dealer asked over $900 to replace it, stating moisture damaged it. The dealer never inspected it. It's electronics are burnt!
When shifting the vehicle to park, the vehicle system says to Shift to Park and the message does not turn off even if you turn off the engine.
For the past 3 years my 2018 Traverse will randomly say shift to park and won't let me turn my vehicle off even though I am in park. In the last week it has gotten worse happening almost every time I drive it and not recognizing that I am in park for anywhere from 2-10 minutes.
Electric Park Brake Malfuctions frequently. Park brake will not set or release properly which is dangerous and could allow vehicle to roll out of park on a hill. This problem is well documented online from other owners of 2018 Chevy Traverse but Chevy had not formally addressed this problem.
When I put the car in Park sometimes I receive a message saying Shift to Park. It doesn’t happen every time but sometimes if I flick the shifter it will clear the message. I had to pick up my grandchild who was sick at school and it took me 10 minutes to get it to clear. It’s so annoying!
My vehicle will not always go in to park allowing the vehicle to move and not to be locked if it doesn’t roll when “parked”. GM knows this is an issue and refuses to do anything to correct the issue.
DUE TO THE EMS RECALL IT HAS CAUSED THE ABS TO MALFUNCTION WENT TO TWO DEALERSHIPS MORE THAN FOUR TIMES WAS TOLD TO PAY IN ORDER TO HAVE MY CAR FIXED DUE TO EMS RECALL SERVICE PROVIDER: DUE TO THE EMS RECALL IT HAS CAUSED THE ABS TO MALFUNCTION PER EMS RECALL THIS CAN BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE. I AM BEING DENIED BY BOTH KILLEEN AND TEMPLE CHEVY DEALERSHIPS.
The vehicle randomly engages the electronic parking brake while driving. The only way to unlock the brake is to unplug the battery. Very dangerous when I'm high speed traffic. Please help.
2018 Chevy Traverse with 39,145 miles. When placed in Drive, shifter did not connect and car would not move forward, instead went backwards. Also, when placed in Reverse, the opposite happened and car would not move in reverse, but went forward. Repeatedly get message stating SHIFT TO PARK when shifter is in PARK. Per GM, no recall. Issues have not been detrimental at this point, but definitely has to potential to be detrimental and a safety matter. Vehicle scheduled to go into Chevy dealership for assessment and repair, but told will have to pay $95 just to look at it and will not be covered by warranty. Upon research, MANY complaints noted with same issue. Despite being told that my vehicle has no recall, x2 service bulletins noted by NHTSA: bulletin #19-NA-206 September 2019 and 18-NA-297 December, 2018.
Unk. Parking break will not engage and engine will not turn off. 30 mins riding around block and pulling in drive back and forth last night before it engaged. Four days now this has happened at store, Dr appt. This is unacceptable defect.
After it rains water leaks from the headliner between the rear view mirror and headliner control panel (lighting, sunroof, collision controls etc..) It is available for inspection, the introduction of water in this area could affect the components in this area, camera, air bags, collision alert. Have not taken into a dealer to evaluate or inspected.
When the vehicle is in park the “shift to park” error comes up on the dash board and the car can not be turned off. This appears to be a common issue and a recall needs to happen.
On June 29, 2021 Unable to turn off vehicle/engine. Started approximately 1 week before on 2 occasions where I finally was able to shut off vehicle. I called dealership/service to get an appointment, but had to go in immediately because it would no longer turn off. Repair was not covered under warranty which was only 4 months past the 3 year warranty and mileage was only 27,637. It cost me just under $450 to repair this. Service advisor at Classic Chevy in Grapevine, TX commented that they had been seeing this problem which they diagnosed as INTERNAL SHIFTER FAULT. (A C/S SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE COMES ON CLUSTER is noted on the repair invoice.) This was unnerving at the very least, and safety risk. Is this problem under any recall or potential recall?
When I put the vehicle in park I get a message that says (SHIFT TO PARK) even though the vehicle is in park. Then when I try to turn my vehicle off I can't. It takes several times messing with the gear shift to finally get it not to say (SHIFT TO PARK) then I can finally turn my vehicle off. I've contacted the dealership and they say they know of this issue, but there is no recall. I feel like this is a problem that needs to be addressed and GM needs to correct immediately.
WHEN SHIFTING INTO PARK AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN OFF THE CAR, 80% OF THE TIME THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REGISTER THAT THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF. IT WOULD ALARM & CHARM WITH A MESSAGE TO "SHIFT TO PARK". THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURING ISSUES WITH THE CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, GMC ACADIAS, AND POSSIBLY OTHER MODELS OF CHEVY/GMC. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW IF THE VEHICLE IS TRULY IN PARK AND CAN LEAVE YOU IN SCARY SITUATIONS WHEN YOU CANNOT TURN OFF THE CAR. WE HAVE ALSO BEEN STRANDED WITH A DEAD BATTERY BECAUSE THE "SHIFT TO PARK" CHIME AND MESSAGE DRAINED THE BATTERY. CHEVROLET HAS PROVIDED THEIR DEALERSHIPS WITH BULLETINS IN HOW TO ADD A JUMPER HARNESS AND ADD/REPLACE A SWITCH IN THE GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY TO CORRECT THE ISSUE, BUT REFUSE TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE SERVICE ADVISORS ADMIT THEY HAVE HAD TO FIX NUMEROUS GEAR SHIFTERS AND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM AS IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ANYONE AFFECTED. PLEASE ADDRESS! I AM INCLUDING MY RECEIPT ON THE SERVICE I HAD TO PAY FOR TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. ALSO AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE TECHNICAL BULLETINS CHEVROLET HAS SENT THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT.
TODAY DRIVING AROUND 35 TO 40 MPH. CAR STARTED TO LOSE SPEED, ENGINE LIGHT ,PARK BRAKE LIGHT AND DASH READ ENGINE IN REDUCED SPEED. STILL NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP, SERVICE DEPT AFTER EACH OCCURANCE. NOT SAFE.
DRIVING DOWN BUSY ROAD AT ABOUT 35 40 MILES AN HOUR. VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN ENGINE LIGHT PARK LIGHT STARTED BLINKING. DRIFTED INTO PARKING LOST. THEN ONLY ENGINE LIGHT WAS SHOWING. NEXT A MESSAGE OF ENGINE REDUCE POWER WAS ON DISPLAY. CALLED DEALERSHIP STATED NOT TO DRIVE AND HAD IT TOWED IN. NOW NO ENGINE LIGHT IS PRESENT. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAS HAPPENED. NOT SAFE AT ALL.
ONCE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO PARK, A WARNING MESSAGE (ALONG WITH BEEPING) STATES IT STILL NEEDS TO BE SHIFTED TO PARK. VEHICLE NOT ACKNOWLEDGING PARK MODE WHEN STATIONARY.
I have been having an issue with my Traverse Antilock Braking System for over a year now. I took it in the first time the icon message kept coming off & on intermittent technician stated that since the icon did not remain on and no check engine light was on nothing they could do and just keep driving it. It kept doing it but will not stay on long enough for me to take back to dealership to proof to them. Recently kept coming on more often and now it's a major and safety concern for me as I am handicapped and this is my only transportation. About 2 weeks ago finally check engine came on I drove to Auto Zone had them do the check engine test got a print out of all the codes made appointment with dealership they kept my vehicle for 4-5 days said they had to reprogram the system charged me for it cause they said my warranty did not cover this $209.00 later the next day same thing icon came back on took car back and again was told that nothing they can do unless check engine stays on. I was able to take a picture with my phone send to them not good enough. Have been driving my vehicle like this and everytime I stop at a traffic light icon comes on & off. I also got a message from my Onstar Diagnostics about this problem and says I should have this problem taken care of immediately as it could be dangerous. Do not understand why my local dealership is waiting for an accident to happen before they realize this should of been taken care of. Since I do not feel very safe driving my vehicle with this issue and I do not have any other means of transportation I have made my family aware of this issue and if something were to happen they know that this had been an issue I tried to have fixed and never happened cause the check engine light did not stay on and that's the only way the dealership said it could get fixed. Shift assembly has failed twice - April 2021 and April 2024. For both occurrences, the vehicle spontaneosly stops registering when I shift into park. When I shift, the vehicle sends a warning to shift into park. There is a safety concern because I cannot determine whether or not the vehicle is actually in park. The GM dealer determined that the issue is a faulty shifter switch and harness and a faulty shift knob. Both were replaced. In April 2021 transmission shifter (part #84698649) and jumper harness (part #84733196) were replaced.
AT APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS OLD AND 47K MILES REAR DRIVER SIDE SWAY BAR LINK BROKE.
1. WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE RAINING AND 2. NOW, THE SHIFTER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, WHEN YOU SHIFT INTO PARK YOU GET AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK AND CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF UNTIL YOU JIGGLE THE SHIFTER
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE, MY CAR WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE BEING PUT IN PARK. I WOULD SHIFT THE CONTROL TO PARK BUT WOULD GET WARNINGS PARK WAS NOT ENGAGED. I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR. NOW I AM GETTING A MESSAGE TO SERVICE PARKING BRAKE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. I DO NOT USE THE PARKING BRAKE, SO I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY SERVICE IS NEEDED. BOTH PROBLEMS WERE WHEN CAR WAS IN PARK. THE 'SERVICE PARKING BRAKE' WARNING STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING 50 MILES AN HOUR IN AWD, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE D STARTED FLASHING AND THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO DISENGAGE. THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL INSIDE THE CAB. I PULLED OVER AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE THE REMAINING 5 MILES HOME.
WE PARKED AND EXITED THE VEHICLE (TURNING IT OFF) ON A SLIGHT GRADE AS WE NORMALLY DO IN THE FRONT OF OUR HOUSE ON A PUBLIC STREET. WE AWOKE THE NEXT MORNING TO DISCOVER THAT THE VEHICLE HAD ADVANCED OR SLID FORWARD APPROXIMATELY 15' COMING TO REST AGAINST A TELEPHONE POLE ADJACENT TO OUR CORNER PROPERTY. IF THE TELEPHONE POLE WAS NOT IN THE PATH OF THE VEHICLE IT WOULD HAVE CROSSED A SIDE STREET AND COME TO REST IN OUR NEIGHBORS FRONT YARD. UPON VIEWING THE VEHICLE AFTER THE DRIFT FORWARD, BEFORE ENTERING THE VEHICLE WE COULD SEE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CLEARLY IN PARK AND TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS HAD (1) PREVIOUS SERVICE BY A DEALER FOR TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS STRUCK ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOTALED; UPON IMPACT NO AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED AND ONSTAR DID NOT FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BILLY BECK TOWING AND RECOVERY (2455 HIGHWAY 70 MOREHEAD CITY NC 28557 252-728-2571). A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,887. *LN*JB
WHEN SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO PARK, AFTER PRESSING THE START/STOP BUTTON TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF AND ALERT WITH DINGS AND DISPLAY A MESSAGE TO SHIFT TO PARK. IT TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while parked or stopped at a traffic light, after releasing the brake pedal the vehicle failed to move. The contact had to wait approximately twenty to thirty minutes and restart the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE FEELS LIKE GEARS ARE GRINDING AND THE CAR IS BREAKING HARDER THAN I AM APPLYING PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND I CAN FEEL THE VEHICLE SHUTTERING AND GRINDING TO A STOP THROUGH THE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE DOES STOP, BUT A WARNING THEN DISPLAYS ON THE DASH "BRAKE ASSIST ACTIVATED". THIS WARNING DISPLAYS EVERYTIME THE BRAKES ARE USED. ONLY HAVE DISABLING THE FORWARD COLLISION BREAK ASSIST DOES THE VEHICLE THEN DRIVE NORMAL. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED TWICE NOW ONCE IN TOWN DRIVING 30-40 MILES AN HOUR AND ANOTHER STOPPING COMING UP TO A LIGHT AT INTERSECTION.
SHIFTER GAVE ERROR THAT IT WAS NOT IN PARK. HAD TO HAVE SHIFTER REPLACED AT MY OWN COST BECAUSE IT WAS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. ALSO THE SEAT BELT ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS FAULTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO RELEASE FROM PARK INTO DRIVE. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING 70-85 MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN SEVERAL TIMES TO WILSON CHEVROLET (4850 W 6TH AVE, STILLWATER, OK 74074, (877) 526-5255) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SHIFT CONTROL ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE MAY CAUSE A CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
A 'SHIFT TO PARK' MESSAGE APPEARS AFTER SHIFT TO PARK. VEHICLE DOES NOT COMPLETELY TURN OFF. DEALER SAID IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL. 44161 MILES ON CAR.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after leaving the dealer for maintenance work, there was an abnormal grinding noise coming from the brakes. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer twice where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they replaced the brakes however, the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
SHIFT TO PARK COMES ON WHEN PUT IN PARK. WON'T TURN OFF OR DINGS WHEN GET OUT BUT EVERYTHING IS STILL POWERED AND BEEPS AT YOU WHEN YOU TRY TO GET OUT. I TOOK IN AND SUPPOSEDLY DEALERSHIP FIXED WITH A NEW HARNESS BUT IT STILL DOES IT 2HOURS OUT OF THE SHOP. NOT SAFE COULD ROLL BACKWARDS AND KILL SOMEONE.

WE PURCHASED THIS SUV LESS THAN TWO YEARS AGO AND AT ABOUT 50K MILES THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SHUTTERING WHILE DRIVING. FINALLY WE WERE OUT AND IT WAS RUNNING FINE THEN ALL OF SUDDEN THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WE WERE STUCK. TOOK DIRECTLY TO DEALER AFTER THREE WEEKS OF NO RESPONSE FROM THE LOCAL DEALER NOR CHEVROLET THEY FINALLY SAID THAT THEY THOUGHT THE VALVE BODY AND TORQUE CONVERTER WERE BAD. WE WISH WE NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE. CHEVROLET DIDN'T SEEM TO MIND THAT THEIR 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I HAVE NEVER OWNED ANYTHING OTHER THAN GM VEHICLES AND I PROMISED THEM THIS WOULD BE MY LAST AND THEY DIDN'T CARE. SHE TOLD ME WELL WE ARE ALL ENTITLED TO MAKE THOSE DECISIONS.
I HAVE HAD TWO MAJOR ISSUES. FIRST IS THE WHOLE "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE THAT YOU HAVE TO VIGOROUSLY WIGGLE THE TRANSMISSION LEVER TO GET TO GO AWAY SO YOU MAY EXIT THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE DEALER FOR IT ONCE ALREADY AND THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE WIREING HARNESS. THIS DID NOTHING. I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND I HAD THAT DONE AT ABOUT 35,000 MILES BUT IT NEVER COMPLETELY WENT AWAY. NOW I AM AT 50,000 MILES AND FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS I HAVE BEEN NOTICING TERRIBLE HIGH PITCH NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE BAD ROAD NOISE BUT ITS COMING FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN. SO FAR IT HAS SEEMED TO HAPPEN MOSTLY AROUND THE 72 TO 78 MPH RANGE ON THE HWY. AS SOON AS YOU LET OFF THE GAS THE NOISE GOES AWAY BUT 50% OF THE TIME THE NOISE COMES BACK WHEN YOU REAPPLY THE GAS. SOMETIMES IT TAKES DRASTICALLY CHANGING SPEED AND THEN TRYING TO GET BACK TO NORMAL. MY FAMILY AND I TRAVEL A LOT. THAT'S WHY WE GOT THE TRAVERSE AND OTHERWISE HAVE LOVED IT! BUT I AM SO VERY SCARRED THAT MY FAMILY WILL GET STRANDED IN BUSY AND DANGEROUS TRAFFIC.
BOUGHT 2018 NEW. TWO DAYS AFTER DRIVING OFF LOT PASSENGER SEAT MELTED ELECTRICAL CONNECTION CAUSING SEAT FAILURE. GM FIXED FOUR DAYS LATER DRIVER SEAT SAME THING. WEEK LATER HEADLIGHT CONNECTION MELTED AND HAD TO BE FIXED SPENT A WEEK IN SHOP. STARTED CLAIM AT GM TO TAKE CAR BACK AFTER A MONTH OF RUN AROUND AND STALLING THEY OFFERED ME $250 IN ACCESSORIES AND DROPPED THE PROBLEM AS IT IS ALL FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. THE DIAGNOSTIC BLOCK UNDER THE DASH MELTED SO THEY COULDN'T USE IT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. MOST RECENT THE LEFT BRAKE LIGHT FAILED AND IT WAS BECAUSE THE CONNECTION MELTED AND THE LIGHT HAD TO BE REPLACED. A WEEK AFTER THAT I WAS DRIVING ON I75 AND HEARD AN EXPLOSION AND THE RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT WAS BLOWN OUT OF THE CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND HE CONNECTION WAS MELTED AND THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE 29 SEPT 20 AND TODAY IS 7 OCT20 THE CAR HAS ONLY 21700 MILES ON IT. I HAVE AGAIN CALLED GM AND STARTED AGAIN THAT THIS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS AS THOSE LIGHTS ARE LED LOW VOLTAGE SO WHAT IS CAUSING THIS SURGE OF HIGH VOLTAGE AND NO ANSWER. ALL REPAIR RECORDS ARE AT THE DEALER AND THIS IS NOT NORMAL TO HAVE 6 ELECTRICAL ISSUES IN TWO YEARS BUT GM HAS DECIDED TO LOOK THE OTHER WAY. IT'S BEEN A WEEK SINCE CALLING GM AND I HAVE NOT GOTTEN THIS RESOLVED AS YET.
REPORTED BRAKES SQUEAKING IN DECEMBER OF 2019. NOW BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES SQUEAKING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES NOW. THEY STATE IT'S NOISE, NOT A BRAKE WEAR ISSUE. OUR NEIGHBORS ALSO HAVE A 2018 ARCADIA WHICH DOES THE SAME SQUEAKING AS OURS BOTH WHEN YOU FIRST START THE VEHICLE OR APPLY ANY TRACTION SUCH AS GOING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, SLOW BREAKING OR DRIVING AND BRAKES ON A LOW MPH SPEED.
ON 9/16, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH LEAD TO MY CAR BEING TOTALED FROM APPX $30,000 IN DAMAGE. TRAFFIC CAME TO A STOP ON THE INTERSTATE AND I ENDED UP REAR ENDING A CAR WHICH CAUSED THE FOLLOWING DAMAGE: ENGINE WAS RIPPED FROM MOTOR MOUNTS AND SHOVED INTO FIREWALL, CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK, WHOLE FRONT END OF CAR WAS DAMAGED INCLUDING SIDE FENDERS AND DRIVERS DOOR UNABLE TO OPEN SMOOTHLY, CRUSHED A/C COMPRESSOR, AND MANY OTHER ITEMS UNDER THE HOOD. (I HAVE MORE PICTURES FROM THE COLLISION CENTER UPON REQUEST). WITH THE SEVERITY OF THE DAMAGE, THERE IS NO DOUBT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. HOWEVER, NOT A SINGLE AIRBAG WENT OFF IN THIS VEHICLE. I CAN PROVIDE ESTIMATES FROM THE COLLISION CENTER WITH ALL ITEMS DAMAGED ALONG WITH PICTURES. I WOULD HAVE ATTACHED BUT SIZE LIMITS PREVENT ME. I'M LUCKY I WAS NOT INJURED BUT SOMEONE ELSE MIGHT NOT BE AS FORTUNATE AS MYSELF.
THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE: TODAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON US 98 IN GULF BREEZE, FL I MADE A LEFT HAND U-TURN IN A 45 MPH ZONE AND THE VEHICLE SUFFERED SEVERE FUEL STARVATION. I STARTED THE U-TURN OUT OF A COMPLETE STOP. EVEN WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FLOORED IT TOOK THE VEHICLE OVER THREE SECONDS TO RECOVER. THIS HAPPENED WITH OVER 3/4 OF A TANK OF FUEL. LUCKILY, I GAVE MYSELF PLENTY OF SPACE WITH APPROACHING TRAFFIC AND I HAD A LEFT HAND TURN LANE TO USE OR ELSE I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS ISSUE HAS ONLY OCCURRED WHEN COMMITTING U-TURNS. THE VEHICLE GAVE NO INDICATIONS TO ANY PROBLEMS. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS ISSUE UP WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND EITHER THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT OR GM IS NOT GOING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM UNTIL THERE IS A LETHAL ACCIDENT.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING. HAVE BEEN TO DEALER AND THEY HAVE RESET COMPUTER AND AFTER ABOUT 800 IT STARTS BACK. TOOK BACK TO DEALER THEY CHANGED FLUID AND RESET COMPUTER. AFTER 800 MILES IT DID IT AGAIN, TOOK BACK TO DEALER AND THEY RESET COMPUTER AND WE DROVE IT FOR AN HOUR WITH NO SHUDDER. AFTER 800 AGAIN IT DID IT AGAIN. SERVICE MANAGER ACKNOWLEDGES THEY HAVE TROUBLE BUT CHEV HAS NO FIX YET. ITS IN THE TRUCK TOO HE SAID. IT HAS 51,000 MILES NOW AND STILL SHUDDERING... IT STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY CANT FIXT IT BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO.
MY CAR WHEN PLACED IN PARK SHOWS BY THE SHIFTER IT'S IN PARK AND ON THE DASH BUT WHEN I GO TO TURN CAR OFF SAYS PUT CAR IN PARK. I THEN HAVE TO PUT IN ANOTHER GEAR AND TRY AGAIN. THIS CAN TAKE UP TO 2-3 TIMES BEFORE IT WORKS. IF NOT PAYING ATTENTION YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR CAR NOT KNOWING IT'S ON BUT NOT RUNNING. I'VE CONTACTED DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED FROM AND THEY SAID THERE ARE CARS NEWER THAN MINE WITH SAME ISSUE. I'VE CONTACTED CORPORATE AND THEY SAID THEY'VE RECEIVED COMPLAINTS. MY CAR IS OVER WARRANTY BY MILEAGE BUT MY CAR ONLY BEING 2 YEARS OLD I FIND THIS VERY UNSATISFACTORY AND UNSAFE!
WE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH BEING ABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK WHEN STATIONARY IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS (IE GROCERY STORE, DRIVEWAY, GARAGE, PARKING LOT AT SCHOOL/WORK SEVERAL LOCATIONS). WE HAD TO REPEATEDLY SHIFT INTO A GEAR EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE SEVERAL TIMES ON EACH OCCURRENCE, AS YOU COULD NOT TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AS FRUSTRATION WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SELECTING A GEAR REPEATEDLY. ONE CAN SOMETIMES STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR RESULTING IN A LEARCH FORWARD OR BACKWARD DEPENDING UPON THE GEAR SELECTED. NOT BEING ABLE TO SWITCH THE VEHICLE OFF CREATES ADDITIONAL ISSUES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS GARAGED WITH EXHAUST EMISSIONS. WE DID NOT ALLOW GRAND CHILDREN OUT OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE DISAPPEARED. NOT KNOWING WHAT THE VEHICLE'S SELECTOR WAS POSITONED IN. NEXT WAS THE SERVICE REPAIR AS IT RESULTED IN A SHIFTER REPLACEMENT AND WAS CLAIMED NOT TO BE COVERED UNDER THE DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY AND REPAIRS RESULTED IN A $536.54 BILL. IT SEEMS FUNNY THE SERVICE TECH WRITERS KNEW WHAT WAS BEING DESCRIBED EVEN BEFORE COMPLETING THE DESCRIPTION OF THE ISSUE. THEIR COMMENT WAS SHIFT TO PARK WARNING. THE SERVICE TECH MENTIONED THERE WERE A COUPLE REPAIR SERVICE BULLETINS THAT MENTIONED A EASY FIX AND THE OTHER A SHIFTER REPLACEMENT. OURS BEING THE LATER OF THE TWO. THE SERVICE TECHS ALSO MENTIONED THIS IS PREVALENT IN SOME OTHER MODELS. THIS ISSUE IT WOULD SEEM IS AN UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT WAITING TO OCCUR! THIS OCCURED SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR TO REPAIR ON 08/12/2020 I HAVE THE REPAIR WORK ORDER AVAILABLE. IT SHOWS MY NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, AND EMAIL ADDRESS ON IT SO I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UPLOAD A COPY.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING, A NOTIFICATION SAYING "SHIFT TO PARK" IS DISPLAYED ON THE DASH EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS CONFIRMED TO BE STATIONARY IN PARK. THIS ISSUE CAUSES THE CAR TO REMAIN RUNNING, WHICH IF UNBEKNOWNST TO THE DRIVER, CLOSES THEIR VEHICLE IN A GARAGE WHILE THINKING THEY SHUT THEIR CAR OFF, COULD CAUSE CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING INSIDE THEIR HOME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER SHIFTING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR FAILED TO SHOW THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE NEEDED TO HAVE THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR INDICATE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK BEFORE THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. JIM KERAS CHEVROLET 2000 COVINGTON PIKE, MEMPHIS, TN 38128, 901-387-2000, WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A $200 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE CAUSED BY THE GEAR SHIFT HARNESS OR THE GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,700.
AUTO WILL NOT SHUT OFF WHEN PUT IN PARK. MESSAGE INDICATES 'PUT IN PARK'. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES. ENGINE WILL GO OFF, ELECTRONICS STAY ON. WOULD DRAIN BATTERY IF LEFT ON. ALSO, BLUETOOTH CONTINUES TO DISCONNECT. BRAKES SQUEAK CONSTANTLY, FROM THE TIME IT WAS DRIVEN OFF THE LOT. CAR STUTTERS WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE. CAR HAS BEEN TO DEALER MANY TIMES, SUPPOSEDLY 'FIXED'. I WAS TOLD TO TRY HIGHER OCTANE GAS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ARE INCREASING. WE HAVE PURCHASED SEVERAL CHEVROLETS, THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST VEHICLE AS FAR AS PROBLEMS WHICH, AFTER 2-1/2 YEARS, HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRED. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL??? CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER, AGAIN. *TR
