NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2014 Chrysler 200. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
My vehicle has an open safety recall related to defective headrests. The dealership never contacted me to perform the recall repair, and the headrests were never replaced. Mopar issued an extended warranty for this defect, but the dealership is now refusing coverage claiming it expired. The defect is now occurring, creating a safety risk, and the recall remedy was never completed through no fault of my own.
the automobile will shut down when driving uncommanded, when it does this you lose power steering and braking and sometimes locks the steering wheel. the horn sounds uncommanded randomly. the windshield wipers will intermittently not work. have researched the problem and have found this issue is common, with this year and make of vehicle. i have contacted the manufacturer and they have been no help. they state they know there is an issue but they do not have parts to fix the issue. when it shuts down you do not get any lights or notice on the dashboard. this puts the driver and passengers at risk and other drivers. the manufacturer stated on the phone its basically my problem and since they do not have parts to repair it i'm on my own, on finding the part, most likely refurbished
The car would slow down out of no where there time when the car doesn’t go over 5 miles per hours and throws it self in park some times my door wouldn’t open with the bottons can’t open my truck
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled on several occasions. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken back to the residence. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
While driving this vehicle the car would shut down while driving, no ability to brake, to steer. The car would start back up, but the same issues would happen, making it extremely dangerous to drive. This happened on several different occasions. One of my issues with this problem is that Chrysler had the same issue with the 2015 Chrysler 200 and the 2015 was recalled. If you look at sites other than Chrysler, customers had reported the same problem with the 2014 and it looks like Chrysler just swept it under the rug. The dealership is saying that the TIPM system needs to be replaced on my car, for a cost of $3000.00 for a know problem.
The contact owns 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle was shuddering and chugging. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure persisted, and the vehicle became undrivable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The mechanic related the failure to an unknown recall. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part was restricted. The failure mileage was approximately 192,000.
The steering wheel has become harder to steer i.e., some resistance can be felt during steering. Also, at a certain angle it makes a hissing sound as if gas is being leaked from a pipe.
Both the driver and passaged (front seat) head rests have deployed. When looking inside them (parts are exposed since they have pooped and stayed open in a projected position) broken pieces are visible. Therefore, the headrests cannot be popped back into their proper position. This is extremely dangerous because the headrests could have deployed while we were driving. Also, the headrests no longer serve their purpose of providing safety to people riding in the front seat. There was no car accident or hit from the back. The headrests deployed (popped open like an air bag and cannot be closed) on their own. Many Chrysler 200 owners have complained about this safety issue. Chrysler should do something to help us consumers. I’m disappointed.
A couple of years ago my passenger head restraint deployed while parked and would not reset. I was charged $652.00 to re place. Chrysler later reimbursed me for this expense and extended my warranty for this for one year. Two days ago the driver side activated while the car was parked. That means the warrant extension had passed. Did some research and this is a common problem caused by the weakening of the plastic that is under pressure of the retaining springs. This problem not only affects the Chrysler 200, but 300s and several keep and Dodge vehicles manufactured between 2010 and 2015. It is just by the grace of God no one has been injured. Mileage was 78000 the first time and 106500 the second time
Head restraint deployed and seatbelt malfunction.
Traction control and power train light on dashboard, are blinking and the car itself will not accerlerate. This is the 2nd time in 3 months it has happened.
Transmission FAIL check engine light went on. Car was not accellorating, bucking can't drive over 30 MGH. Thank god I was drving a back street when it happened and not the Mass Pike. Two estimates done. They both said replace the transmission. WHAT ??? Burnt transmission fluid at 77,400 miles. Three Diagnostic Errors P0128 P0734 P1790 . I have to REPLACE my transmission at a cost of $5,000 This is not supppose to happen at 77,400 . Please advise and recall or concessions available.
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH on the highway, the vehicle stalled, and the vehicle turned off independently. The contact was able to coast over to the right side of the road, and attempted to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle started as intended. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to AAA where it was diagnosed and determined that the totally integrated power module (TIPM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the horn was connected to the module. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.
The passenger headrest deployed without being in a crash. The car was parked. This could have caused injury if my passenger had her head rested. It also could have caused an accident if this happened while driving as it sounded like a gun shot or loud crash. No warnings went off.
Horn didn’t work and car stalled in the middle of highway. Part (clock spring)inside horn was replaced but horn still went off by itself or didn’t work. Entire fuse box ( integrated power module)that controlled horn replaced to solve problem. It has been determined that this was also cause of car stalling out.
Passengers headrest exploded spontaneously. I noticed this morning leaving my house heading to work as I was driving down my street a rattling noise and looked over to see the head rest had ejected! Thankfully I didn't have any passenger's in my car! I have no warning lamps other than low tire notification that refuses to go away after taking my car several times to make sure the tires are properly inflated and a check engine light that ofcourse came on today. I'm home and searched how to fix it and came across an article stating that I need to report this. I don't have any files. Just a pic of the headrest, current milage and notification lights. We purchased this car a couple short months ago (5/02/2022)
The vehicle stalled out while driving on the interstate. No warnings and no engine lights came on. We were slowing down to a stop because of construction. The car is available if inspection is requested. I had the fuel system serviced with fuel pump replaced. It is unknown if the mechanic was able to confirm the stall out. I picked the vehicle up today and it seemed to run smoothly, then it stalled out driving thru an intersection without warning.
Vehicle was at detail shop - parked. Employee moved seat to access back and drivers side head rest deployed. There was no collision. Unable to reset, as part is broken. Appears to be a major safety concern which could lead to an accident. I will be attempting to address this issue quickly as it represents a major safety problem. It is available for inspection for now. Had this happened while driving I believe an accident would have resulted. I will be contacting the dealer and an independent shop on Monday. At this time it has not been inspected by anyone official. No warning signs were noted.
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he noticed that the front passenger’s side headrest had deployed without incident. The dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to pull over and the vehicle was restarted but the vehicle stalled again without warning. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed, diagnosed, and repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and told the contact that they were unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 103,417.
LEAKING OIL FROM OIL ADAPTER HOUSING. HOMETOWN CHRYSLER TOLD ME THAT OVER 72,000 OF THESE HAVE BEEN REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR COULD CATCH ON FIRE, SO I LEFT IT A DEALER TO WAIT 2 WEEKS FOR THE PART. WHY HASN'T THIS BECOME A RECALL?
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shut off inadvertently. The contact stated that the vehicle shuddered before shutting off independently on several occasions. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that he turned off the vehicle, and opened and closed the front driver's side door to ensure that the electronic system was turned off. The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle within 15 minutes. The contact stated that on several occasions, the vehicle struggled to restart and would shut off again. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where an unknown sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the horn would engage independently. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring more often. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE BUSY HIGHWAY MY CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, CAR TURNED OFF AND BRAKES LOCKED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I COULD OF GOTTEN IN A HORRIBLE CAR ACCIDENT. WHEN MECHANIC CHECKED IT OUT HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN CHECK AND IT SAYS NO RECALLS.
TL* THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING, THE SEAT BELT WOULD INADVERTENTLY UNLOCK. NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS SEAT BELT RECEPTACLE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,396.
MY CAR SHUTS DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE HORN BLOWS RANDOMLY AND IT IS HARD TO STOP IT. IT IS HARD TO STEER WHEN THE CART SHUTS DOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE RPM FELL TO ZERO AND LOST ALL POWER FUNCTIONALITY INCLUDING THE STEERING AND BRAKE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE MAKING TURNS AND THAT THE HORN WOULD INADVERTENTLY BLOW WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DALLAS DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (11550 LYNDON B JOHNSON FWY, DALLAS, TX 75238) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC RETRIEVED DTC CODE: P0190 (POWER CONTROL MODULE) FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,000.
VIBRATING/SHAKING WHILE AT STOP/REST SHUTS OFF STARTS BACK UP NO WARNING LIGHTS NO SPEED ABOVE 30MPH NOISE I CAN HEAR INSIDE VEHICLE AS WELL AS ACCELERATION MAKES RATTLE NOISE
PASSENGER HEAD REST DEPLOYED WITHOUT A CAR ACCIDENT. IT WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, WHILE THE CAR WAS OFF.
IT SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING ..WITHOUT NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING THAT THERES ANY PROBLEM.. THE BATTERY VOLTAGE IS GOOD AND MY ALTERNATOR IS GOOD AS WELL . IT SHUT OFF ON ME MORE THAN THREE TIMES.
2014 CHRYSLER 200 126K MILES SEPT. 8, 2020 SLOWING DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT. APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. HEARD A LOUD NOISE LIKE A TIRE BLOWING OUT. YET DIDN'T FEEL ANYTHING. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE OUTSIDE AND FOUND NOTHING AMISS. ENTERED VEHICLE ON DRIVERS SIDE AND LOOKED OVER AND SAW PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST HAD DEPLOYED. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME. REWIND TO NOVEMBER 2019 SAME CAR AT 120K MILES. SITTING IN DRIVEWAY. VEHICLE PARKED AND ENGINE OFF. KEY NOT EVEN IN THE IGNITION. SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND MY HEAD WAS THROWN FORWARD IN A VERY FAST MOTION. LOOKED UP TO SEE IF I HAD BEEN REARENDED SOMEHOW AND NOT ANOTHER VEHICLE IN SIGHT. GOT OUT OF THE CAR HAD A LOOK AND FOIND NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. WALKED BACK TO THE CAR AND NOTICED THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEATS HEADREST HAD EXPLODED THUS CAUSING THE LOUD NOISE AND MY HEAD TO FLY FORWARD. I HAVE SEEN OTHER PAST MAKE AND MODELS FOR CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEP HAVE RECALLS ALL THE WAY UP TO ABOUT 2013. HOW IS THIS STILL AN ISSUE THAT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET , AGAIN? THIS IS SERIOUSLY CONCERNING. WHAT IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED? WHAT IF I HAD ONE OF MY TEENAGERS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OR A PASSENGER FOR THAT MATTER.
ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS (AHRS) ON DRIVER'S SEAT DEPLOYED SPONTANEOUSLY. SOME BROKEN PLASTIC PARTS FELL OUT. LUCKILY I WAS NOT IN THE CAR AND NOTICED ONLY WHEN NECK GOT UNCOMFORTABLE WHILE SITTING.
WHILE I AM DRIVING MY CAR, MY CAR WILL JUST SHUT OFF. I CAN BE ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 75 AND MY CAR WILL JUST DEAD STOP. I LOSE POWER IN MY STEERING WHEEL, MY BRAKES STOP WORKING. YOU CAN'T EVEN PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL TURN BACK ON WHEN I TRY, OTHER TIMES IT DOESN'T. ITS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR IVE HAD THIS CAR. NOBODY CAN SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHY.
HEADREST EJECTED WHILE I WAS DRIVING CAUSING NECK PAIN. *TR
CAR WILL JUST RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHILE THE CAR IS CRUISING, ACCELERATING, OR DECELERATING. THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS, SOUNDS, OR VISUAL CUES TO INDICATE ANY SORT OF PROBLEM. IN ADDITION TO THE ENGINE, THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKE ASSIST WILL ALSO SHUT DOWN. AFTER THE STALL: IT DOESN'T TRIGGER ANY ERROR CODES FOR AN OBD-II READER, MEANING TECHNICIANS WONT BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. WILL DO THIS AT ALL SPEEDS, EVEN ON THE HIGH WAY, OR PLACES THAT MAY NOT HAVE A PLACE TO PULL OFF. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
CAR DELIVERED AND PURCHASED FROM MCCLUSKY CHEVROLET, SMITHJ@ONLINE.CARS, CINCINNATI, OH TO FARRAGUT, TN ON 02/25/2020 IN EXCELLENT DRIVEABILITY CONDITION. CAR PERFOMANCE WAS EXCELLENT, DRIVEN DAILY UNTIL 03/03/2020 AND ALWAYS RETURNED TO HOME GARAGE. WHEN STARTED THE MORNING OF 03/04/2020, THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY RACED TO 4000 RPM IN NEUTRAL. TAPPING THE BRAKE LOWERED THE IDLE TO 1200 RPM, NOT THE NORMAL 850 (APPROXIMATE). I BACKED THE OUT OF THE GARAGE UPHILL INTO THE STREET. WHEN ENGAGED IN DRIVE THE MOMENT OF STARTING ACCELERATION THE CAR GENTLY ACCELERATE ITSELF WITH MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR TO ABOUT 40 MPH IN 1/4 MILE. TAPPING THE BRAKE STOPPED THE ACCELERATION AND THE CAR THROTTLE RETURNED TO ABOUT 1200 RPM. AFTER BRAKING TO A STOP, I STARTED TO DRIVE AROUND THE BLOCK AND THE CAR AGAIN ACCELERATED BY ITSELF. WITH MULTIPLE BRAKES TAPS, I RETURNED THE CAR INTO THE DRIVE WAY. THE NEXT DAY, AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE, THE RPM AGAIN RACED TO 4000. TAPPING THE BRAKE RETURNED THE RPM TO 1200, SIMILAR TO A CRUISE CONTROL RETURN. IN ALL CASES THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT TURNED ON AND CYCLING THE CRUISE BUTTON ON AND OFF HAD NO EFFECT. CRUISE CONTROL MECHANISM MAYBE OR MAYBE NOT BE INVOLVED. I DID AN ACCUTRON CODE READ AND NO CODES RETURNED. NO ATTEMPT TO TRY TO FIX OR REPAIR THE PROBLEM WAS MADE. CAR NEEDS TO BE ANALYZED BY NHTSA, NOT JUST REPAIRED. IT IS HAZARDOUS. I USED TO TEACH PHYSICS AND HAVE PERFORMED MOST MAJOR CAR REPAIRS SINCE 1960. I WISH TO KEEP THIS CHRYSLER 200 S RETRACTABLE CONVERTIBLE. IT WILL STAY IN MY DRIVEWAY UNTIL ANALYZED BY NHTSA.
THE CAR KEEPS SHUTTING OFF WHEN I'M DRIVING IN SOME VERY UNCOMFORTABLE SITUATION I NEED TO GET HELP IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS CAR I WOULD LIKE TO GET IT FIXED ASAP
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 43 MPH, THE DRIVE SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS HIT IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD HOWEVER, NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED AT THIS TIME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY AND CALLED 911 WHOM ADVISED HIM TO CALL HIS AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY AND A DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED HE CALLED HIS INSURANCE COMPANY AND AN UNKNOWN KIA DEALER IN LUMBERTON, NC WHOM OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 129,000.
MY CHRYSLER 200 HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT POWER LOSS AND STALLING. WHEN DRIVING THE ENGINE PLUS ELECTRICAL POWER SHUTS DOWN WHICH LEADS TO A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THIS SITUATION ALMOST CAUSED A ACCIDENT WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. IN MY RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON THIS MAKE/MODEL HAS A 'VERY BAD' RATING ON NHTSA WEBSITE.
ENCOUNTERED A FLAT TIRE (OBSERVED WHEN DRIVING) AND WHEN I WENT TO TAKE THE WHEEL / TIRE OFF TO PUT ON THE SPARE, FOUND I COULD NOT LOOSEN THE LUG NUTS WITH A VARIETY OF LUG WRENCHES THAT WERE TRIED. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A DEALER AND WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE LUG NUTS HAD TO BE HAMMERED OFF THE WHEEL AND REPLACED. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE LUG NUTS ON THE REMAINING WHEELS / TIRES WERE IN THE SAME CONDITION. WHEN I ASKED THE DEALER ABOUT IT, THEY SAID THAT IT WAS "NOBODY'S FAULT" THAT THIS HAPPENED TO THE LUG NUTS. I DISAGREE - AND SUBMIT THAT IT WAS THE MANUFACTURER OF THE LUG NUTS THAT WAS "AT FAULT". I READ ABOUT A SIMILAR INCIDENT INVOLVING FORD VEHICLES THAT WAS ON THE VERGE OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT, BUT THEN DISMISSED. APPARENTLY THE OUTSIDE COATING (ALUMINUM?) ON THE LUG NUTS SHEARS OFF WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED. I AM LOOKING FOR COMPENSATION FOR HAVING TO REPLACE THESE, ALONG WITH A POSSIBLE FACTORY RECALL.
WHILE SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY, EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE AND WANTED TO CHANGE THE TIRE TO A SPARE, BUT FOUND THAT NO AMOUNT OF TORQUE WOULD LOOSEN THE LUG NUTS. AFTER TRYING TWO DIFFERENT LUG WRENCHES, I ENDED UP HAVING TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER I HAD A WARRANTY WITH FOR THE TIRE. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT ALL OF THE LUGNUTS ON THE TIRE WERE DEFECTIVE (AND LATER ADDED THAT ALL OF THE OTHER LUGNUTS ON THE CAR WERE AS WELL). THEIR DEFECT IS THAT THEY HAVE A NON FERROUS (TIN?) COATING ON THEM THAT SHEARS OFF WHEN TORQUE IS APPLIED. THE LUGNUTS ATTACHING THE TIRE / WHEEL HAD TO BE HAMMERED OFF TO BE REMOVED. I HAVE SINCE HAD ALL OF THESE LUGNUTS REPLACED (EXCEPT FOR ONE) AT MY OWN EXPENSE. I BELIEVE IT I HAD BEEN STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN I ENCOUNTERED THE FLAT AND THE DEFECTIVE LUGNUTS, IT WOULD HAVE PUT ME AT PERSONAL RISK WHILE TRYING DESPERATELY TO REMOVE THEM - NOT TO MENTION THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY TRYING TO DO SO. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT "NO ONE WAS AT FAULT" FOR THE DEFECTIVE LUGNUTS. I TOOK EXCEPTION TO THIS, BEING OF THE OPINION THAT THE MANUFACTURER OF THESE LUGNUTS WAS VERY MUCH RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER 200. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION SWITCHED INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION ON ITS OWN. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
I RECEIVED RECALL ALERT FOR CODE V51 (RE-PROGRAM POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) OVER A YEAR AGO (DEC 2019) AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN GIVING THE RUN AROUND. I'VE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES TO INQUIRE ABOUT GETTING IT FIXED AND EVERY TIME I'M TOLD THE MANAGER WILL START MAKING CALLS TO OWNERS FOR THE RECALL BUT NO SUCH THING HAS OCCURRED.
MY 2014 CHRYSLER 200 STARTED AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE ALARM WENT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING SO I PULLED OVER CUT THE CAR OFF THEN ATTEMPTED TO STARTED THE CAR BACK UP 5 DIFFERENT TIMES AND IT CUT ON FOR SECONDS AND CUT OFF WITH A A RED SECURITY LIGHT COMING ON AS WELL AND ALARM STILL GOING THEN ON THE 6TH TRY THE CAR WONT START ANYMORE BUT ALARM STILL GOES OFF FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES.
My wife and daughters almost died in a car accident due to the apparent failure of this vehicle. We were driving on an HWY at night and the car just died out of nowhere. Dash started to flash and just died. We initially thought that it was the mechanic that had just fixed the car but after an investigation concluded that it was not anything they could have done. My family sustained life-threatening injuries and almost did not make it out alive as thee were rear-ended by a truck. Then on top of it when they were hit no airbags deployed which is what caused the injuries to be so much worse. After reading multiple complaints on NHTSA about the same issue for the same year and make I am baffled that this issue has not been addressed. I almost lost my family.
HEADLIGHTS HAVE DETERIORATED SEAL CAUSING MOISTURE CONDENSATION. DEALERSHIP COSTS $615.00. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 88,000 MILES. THIS ISSUE IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THIS IS A RESULT OF CHEAP SEALS
THE VEHICLE IGNITION SWITCH GETS STUCK IN THE ON POSITION VEHICLE IS STATIONARY
I DO NOT HAVE AN TAKATA RECALL LETTER, HOWEVER MY AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF AS I AM DRIVING. THERE IS NO RECALL FOR A SENSOR OR ANYTHING CONCERNING THE LIGHT, SO I HAVE TO CONTACT CHRYSLER TO SEE HOW TO HANDLE THE SITUATION.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST FALLS APART EXPOSING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. ON 10/01/2019 DEALER STATES AIRBAG NEEDS REPLACED AND IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. DEALER REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR.
ATC TEMPERATURE CONTROL UNIT IS NOT SENDING POWER AND GROUND TO THE LEFT SIDE BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR, SO THE HEAT AND DEFOGGER DOESN'T WORK CAUSING IT TO BE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THE ROAD WHEN CONDITIONS WARRANT THE DEFOGGER IS NEEDED. DURING ADVERSE WEATHER ON 8/24 (UNSEASONABLY COOL AND RAINING IN CENTRAL NC), I COULD NOT SEE THE ROAD BECAUSE THE WINDSHIELD FOGGED UP AND AS NOTED, THE DEFOGGER ISN'T WORKING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER 200. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST FUNCTIONALITY OF THE BRAKES, POWER STEERING, AND ACCELERATOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT REQUIRED EXTRA EFFORT TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS WERE ALTERNATELY DEPRESSED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO STAR DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (5101 S 1ST ST, ABILENE, TX 79605, (325) 698-2222) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
