Engine stalls while driving and displays message that I need to shift to park to restart. This has happened several times. I have not taken it to a mechanic yet but stopped driving it because it is unsafe. * This problem is mentioned here several times.
While driving down the interstate my car jumped a little then I could not go above 20 miles and hour. Once I arrived to a safe location I turned off my engine and then restarted. It seemed ok, but during the incident there was a flash on my dash that said "CHECK THROTTLE". I took it to a service station and they ran a code check on the vehicle. They stated the following: 1. ECM (Engine Control Module) 2. TCM (Transmission Control Module) 3. ORC (Air Bag/Occupant Restraint) My car is a 2017 Chrysler 200 VIN [XXX]. It has 55,600 miles on it, actual miles. Due to these error codes the mechanic stated I need to take the car to a dealership to have them fixed. Car shuts off without warning when driving
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER ROBERT LOEHR CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM SRT AND FIAT (567 E MAIN ST, CARTERSVILLE, GA 30121, (770) 382-58850) AND THEN TO ATLANTA WEST CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1251 THORNTON RD, LITHIA SPRINGS, GA 30122, (770) 942-1102) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,000.
VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL TODAY WHILE DRIVING. IT STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES AND ONE POINT IT STALLED ENTERING A MAJOR ROAD. IT ALSO HAS A KICK IN THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING LIKE IT'S CHANGING GEAR. THIS IS RIDICULOUS IF THIS BEING GOING ON WITH OTHER FOR THESE MODEL FOR A WHILE WHY ARE THEY STILL BEING SOLD. THE CAR IS ONLY 49000 MILES NOW I HAVE TO FIND MONEY TO REPAIR
MY 2017 CHRYSLER 200, THAT I PURCHASED ON OCTOBER 8, 2018 HAS STARTED TO JUST SHUT DOWN WHILE I'M DRIVING, WITH NO WARNING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IN THE TYPE OF BUSY TRAFFIC THAT I DRIVE IN, DAILY. I'M THANKFUL THAT THE TIMES IT DID SHUT OFF, IT HAPPENED IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, WHILE I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN, AND BEFORE I'D GOTTEN INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC. IT SHUT DOWN ON DECEMBER 20, 2019 AT A STOP SIGN, AND THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN ON DECEMBER 22, 2019. BOTH TIMES, IT DIDN'T RESTART IMMEDIATELY WHEN I PRESSED THE START BUTTON. IT STALLED FOR A MOMENT THE FIRST TIME, AND PERHAPS 2 MINUTES THE SECOND TIME. I TURNED ON MY EMERGENCY BLANKERS THE 2ND TIME IT HAPPENED, AND I LET OTHER DRIVERS KNOW TO GO AROUND ME BECAUSE IT TOOK A LITTLE LONGER TO RESTART. THIS ISN'T SAFE, NOR IS IT GOOD FOR ME AS A CONSUMER. THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT AN ALMOST NEW CAR SO I WOULDN'T HAVE ISSUES SUCH AS THIS WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER 200. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AND SMOKE. THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE BEING PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AUTONATION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM HOUSTON (LOCATED AT 11515 SOUTH LOOP WEST, HOUSTON, TX 77054, 713-489-7825) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT, INTAKE FUEL, EXHAUST MANIFOLD, AND VAULT EXHAUST GASKET FAILED AND NEEDED TO REPLACED.THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000. *LN*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER 200. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS FLASHED. THE CONTACT WAITED APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWO OTHER TIMES; ONE TIME THE "SERVICE AIR BAG SYSTEM" MESSAGE APPEARED AND THE OTHER TIME THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,191.
MY CHRYSLER 200 STARTED SHUTTING ITSELF OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE LIGHTS AND RADIO STAY ON BUT THE BRAKES AND STEERING ARE MANUAL. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT I WAS LOW ON OIL AND THAT THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A SAFETY FEATURE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF WHEN OIL IS LOW. THIS CAR IS 10 MTHS OLD AND ONLY 11K MILES. IT CONTINUED AFTER THAT VISIT AND AFTER SHAMING CHRYSLER ON TWITTER, THEY OPTED TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. THE PROBLEM IS THIS CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINES ARE THE SAME AND THIS PROBLEM WILL KILL SOMEONE. THE AUTO IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH A LOW OIL LIGHT AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO CHECK OIL EVERY MONTH! I AM PICKING THE CAR UP TODAY WITH AN ENGINE THAT IS NEW TO THIS CAR BUT, I AM PETRIFIED TO DRIVE IT. IF IT SHUTS OFF ON THE FREEWAY, HOW AM I TO GET OVER BEFORE I GET HIT. CHRYSLER STATES THAT IS NO PROBLEM IF THIS ENGINE IS FAULTY BECAUSE THEY WILL COVER UNDER WARRANTY. WHAT WILL IT TAKE-SOMEONE DYING? I DO NOT WANT TO BE THAT PERSON. SINCE I AM GOING TO GET THIS DEATH TRAP I CALLED TO MAKE SURE THEY FIXED THE CRUISE CONTROL. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE CAR IS NOT ON RECALL. FROM ALL MY RESEARCH ALL 200'S ARE ON RECALL. SO, NOW I HAVE A CAR THAT WILL TURN OFF WHEN THE OIL GETS LOW (WITH NO WARNING LIGHT TO TELL YOU OIL IS LOW) AND I CANNOT USE THE CRUISE CONTROL.
