TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V313000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR FAILED TO SHIFT INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE SHIFT INTERLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,000.
CAME FROM THE GAS STATION AND FILLED UP GAS. AFTER 3 BLOCKS FROM THE STATION, THE CAR STALLS WHILE I WAS MAKING A TURN: NO POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. I MUSCLED THE CAR TO MAKE THE TURN AND NEARLY HIT INCOMING TRAFFIC BUT CAME TO A FULL STOP. ENGINE LIGHT ON BUT NOT THE CHECK-ENGINE LIGHT. STARTED AND PROCEEDED SLOWLY. AFTER A FEW BLOCKS, THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN I REACHED AN INTERSECTION AND CAME TO AN IDLE. I PULLED THE CAR TO THE CURB AND RESTARTED THE CAR. I WAS WORRIED THAT IT WOULD STALL AGAIN SO WHENEVER I REACHED AN IDLE/STOP LIGHT OR SIGN, I DELIBERATELY PRESSED DOWN ON THE GAS AT NEUTRAL. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS EVENT, NEEDLESS TO SAY. *TR
I WENT TO THE POST OFFICE, PARKED AND CUT THE CAR OFF. WHEN I GOT READY TO DEPART. I CUT THE CAR ON AND ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE GEAR INTO REVERSE. THE GEAR WOULD NOT MOVE INTO REVERSE. SO I PUT THE CAR BACK INTO DRIVE, AND HAD ENOUGH SPACE TO GO FORWARD. I DROVE HOME. WHEN I ARRIVED, THE GEAR WOULD NOT STAY IN PARK. THE CAR START ROLLING AND I HAD TO CUT THE IGNITION OFF TO STOP IT FROM ROLLING. THE GEAR SHIFT IS STILL IN DRIVE. HAD TO SECURE IT IN PLACE BY PUTTING BRICKS BEHIND CAR TO KEEP IT FROM ROLLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. *TR

DROVE TO WORK FINE BUT WHEN I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AFTER WORK IT WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM "PARK". HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE. NOT SURE WHY THERE WASN'T A RECALL? *TR
I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK AS ALWAYS, STARTED MY CAR AND IMMEDIATELY WHILE PULLING AWAY IT STALLED THAN DIED. I STARTED IT AGAIN AND MADE IT INTO THE INTERSECTION AND IT STALLED AND DIED AGAIN. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN WHILE IN TRAFFIC ABOUT 10 MILES. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG. I TOOK IT TO GET CHECKED OUT AND NO ONE COULD GIVE ME ANY UNDERSTANDING OF THIS PROBLEM. I WENT ON LINE AND COME TO REALIZE THAT THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER CHRYSLER OWNERS AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL NOR HELP. I LEARNED THAT OTHERS STOPPED FILLING THEIR CAR UP AND THAT SEEMED TO KEEP IT FROM STALLING. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND I WORRY ALL THE TIME FOR MY FAMILIES SAFETY. SOME HAVE CHANGED THE GAS TANK HOWEVER THIS HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN FIXING THIS PROBLEM. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND DO THE RIGHT THING. *TR
IN JULY, I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. MY CAR WENT DEAD - ENGINE STOPPED, LIGHTS, RADIO WENT OFF. I PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED. NEXT OCCURRENCE WAS ABOUT A MONTH LATER AT A STOP SIGN AGAIN. LAST OCCURRENCE WAS SEPTEMBER 22, 2014 - THIS TIME THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS DECELERATING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROX. 60 MPH - THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT FLASHED AND THE ESP BAS LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AT A STOP SIGN. I PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED. MY MECHANIC HAS INSTALLED A PROGRAM UPDATE B/C HE COULDN'T IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. I DO KNOW I FILLED UP MY CAR THE FRIDAY PRIOR TO THE LAST OCCURRENCE AND DID NOT DRIVE IT UNTIL THE MONDAY AM WHEN THIS LAST INCIDENT OCCURRED. *TR

THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT I EXPERIENCED WAS THE GEARSHIFT GETTING STUCK IN PARK. LUCKILY I WASN'T TOO FAR FROM HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I'M WAITING FOR A DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH MY CAR CUTTING OFF AFTER FILLING MY GAS TANK. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT I NOT FILL THE GAS TANK TO THE FULL LINE. SO FAR THIS HAS WORKED BUT THERE NEEDS TO BE A PERMANENT FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. ALONG WITH THE CAR CUTTING OFF MY DRIVER SIDE MIRROR DIMMER IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE MIRROR HAS AN ORANGE TINT TO IT AND WHEN I LOOK AT IT THE IMAGES ARE BLURRED. THERE ARE LIST OF OTHER ISSUES I'VE HAD WITH THIS CAR BUT I WOULD BE TYPING ALL DAY. *TR

THIS PROBLEM ONLY AFTER FILL THE GAS TANK. AFTER PULLING AWAY FROM THE PUMP AND PULLING INTO TRAFFIC THE CAR DIED AND WON'T START UNTIL YOU PUT IN PARK. THIS HAPPENS UNTIL SOME OF THE FUEL HAS BEEN USED UP. I WOULD HAVE IT HAPPEN MAKE IT HOME. THEN THE NEXT TIME I DRIVE IT THE CAR WILL DIE UNTIL ITS BEEN DRIVEN ENOUGH TO USE UP SOME FUEL. THIS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT HAPPEN AS YOU SLOW DOWN OR START UP. I HAVE HAD IT DIE WHILE TURNING AND LOSE ALL CONTROLS BECAUSE IT DIES! THE ONLY WAY TO COMBAT THIS IS TO NOT FILL THE TANK. THAT WORKS IF I DRIVE THE CAR BUT MY FAMILY MEMBERS FORGET THAT AND HAVE LOST CONTROL ALSO! THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 3 YEARS! DANGEROUS. *TR
BUBBLES IN BACK LEFT TIRE, WHEEL SHAKING, TRUNK CLOSED ON OWNERS HAND. THE DEALERSHIP HOLLYWOOD KIA DID NOT TAKE CAR BACK NEXT DAY, WE LEFT KEYS WITH RECEPTIONIST WHO REFUSED TO GIVE A RECEIPT, KEPT 2000 DEPOSIT AND IS SELLING THE ONLINE FOR 2000 MORE THAN WE PAID. MY NAME STILL ON TITLE. *TR

MY CAR STARTED STALLING IN JUNE 2013, APPROX. 86000 MILES CHRYSLER SERVICE COULD NOT FIND ANY REASON FOR IT STALLING. A FRIEND SUGGESTED THAT I CHECK THE LA TIMES, ONLY TO FIND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. IT STALLS AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK. IS REPLACING THE GAS TANK AT MY EXPENSE THE ONLY SOLUTION? WHERE CAN I FIND THE FEDERAL OFFICE OF DEFECTS INVESTIGATION RESULTS FOR THE 300C COMPLAINTS. *TR

AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, AND WHEN LEAVING THE GAS STATION, AS I'M SLOWING DOWN TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC THE ENGINE STALLS. THIS ONLY HAPPENS AFTER A FILL UP OF HALF A TANK OR MORE. DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN I TOP OFF TANK WHEN I'M DOWN TO 3/4 TANK. I GET THE CAR RESTARTED AND PULL OUT BUT IT FEELS LIKE THE ENGINE IS MISSING. WHEN I START SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOP, THE CAR WILL STALL AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS ANYWHERE FROM 2 TO 4 TIMES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON AND THERE ARE NO CODES STORED. THE CAR HAS 155000 MILES ON IT, AND THIS STARTED HAPPING ABOUT A YEAR AGO. IT ONLY DID IT ONE TIME THEN MAYBE A MONTH LATER IT DID IT AGAIN. IT WASN'T DOING ALL THE TIME THEN BUT NOW IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT THAT IT DOES IT AT EVERY FILL UP. AT FIRST I THOUGHT MAYBE I GOT SOME BAD GAS, BUT I'VE READ WHERE OTHER 300C OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND CHRYSLER SHOULD BE FIXING THIS PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE.
2005 CHRYSLER 300C. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE ENGINE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER HE LEFT THE GAS STATION, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO FLUTTER AND THEN STALLED. THE CONSUMER THEN LEARNED IF HE ONLY FILLED THE TANK 3/4 FULL, THE STALLING DID NOT OCCUR.
THE CAR REPEATEDLY STALLS AFTER A FILL UP. THIS WILL REPEAT ITSELF SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE FIRST FEW MILES BEFORE IT STOPS. IF I DON'T FILL THE TANK ALL THE WAY UP IT WILL NOT STALL. THIS HAS CAUSED A COUPLE CLOSE CALLS (TURNING IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC) AND SHORT, TEMPORARY TRAFFIC DELAY WHILE I RESTART. *TR
AFTER I FILLED THE GAS TANK, I STARTED THE ENGINE, LESS THAN A MINUTE LATER THE CAR STALLED. IT STALLED TWICE BEFORE I LEFT THE GAS STATION AND AS I WAS TURNING INTO TRAFFIC. IT STALLED AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES AFTER I PULLED INTO A SIDE STREET TO GET OUT OF THE MAIN TRAFFIC AREA. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF THE ENGINE RUNNING AND DRIVING AT LOW SPEED, THE STALLING STOPPED. I WILL INCLUDE, I DID NOT OVERFILL, I NEVER DO. NOW IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE TANK. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED TWICE AND HOPE YOU CAN DO SOMETHING TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER. *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR 2005 CHRYSLER 300C ON MAY 24, 2013 WITH 49,755 MILES ON VEHICLE. WE PICKED UP VEHICLE ON MAY 25TH FROM DEALER AND WENT TO GAS STATION TO FILL UP GAS TANK. UPON LEAVING THE GAS STATION THE CAR STALLED AND LOST ALL POWER. TRIED TO RESTART VEHICLE AND AFTER TWO TIMES IT STARTED AGAIN BUT STILL CHUGGED AND WOULDN'T PICK UP SPEED. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN UNTIL AFTER THE CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 10 MILES. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN RIGHT AWAY AND AFTER READING OWNERS MANUAL WE JUST THOUGHT MAYBE IT HAD BEEN SITTING LONG AT DEALER OR SOMETHING. ON JUNE 17TH WE AGAIN HAD TO FILL UP THE GAS TANK AND UPON DOING SO THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE STALLING, CHUGGING AND JUST NOT RUNNING CORRECTLY. WHILE TURNING LEFT THE CAR STALLED AGAIN AND I HAD A VERY HARD TIME RESTARTING. IN THE MEAN WHILE OTHER CARS WERE COMING AT ME FROM BOTH BEHIND ME AND IN FRONT OF ME. THIS REALLY SCARED ME SO I CALLED A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT COULD BE AND WE SHOULD BRING IT IN. AT THAT POINT I DECIDED TO LOOK ON INTERNET TO CHECK FOR RECALLS AND ENDED UP FINDING THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR 2005 CHRYSLER 300C AS WE HAVE. THE ONLY WAY TO SOLVE THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM IS TO EITHER NOT FILL THE TANK ALL THE WAY OR HAVE A NEW TANK INSTALLED AT A COST OF ANYWHERE FROM $1500.00 ALL THE WAY UP TO $2500.00 WHICH IS RIDICULOUS CONSIDERING THIS REALLY SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT ON CHRYSLER'S PART. IS IT GOING TO TAKE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT POSSIBLY LEADING IN A DEATH FOR CHRYSLER TO ACT ON THIS PROBLEM? THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT. *TR
HI, WHEN FUELING THE 2005 CHRYSLER 300C TO FULL, THE CAR WILL DRIVE AND STALL RANDOMLY. IT'S UNPREDICTABLE AND HAPPENS EACH TIME YOU FILL THE TANK. IT'S REPETITIVE AND CAN BE DUPLICATED ALWAYS. IT'S CERTAINLY VERY HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE, AND I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT TWICE TRYING TO ENTER THE ROADWAY WHEN IT STALLS, AND IT TAKES A MIN TO ACTUALLY GET IT STARTED AGAIN IF IT ACTUALLY DOES START. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE AROUND THE 50K MILE MARK. THIS NEEDS YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION, AND QUITE MANY 300C OWNERS HAVE THIS SAME VERY PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300C. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FRACTURED. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR WITH HIS LEFT HAND AND MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO SAFETY SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
A COMMON PROBLEM ON ALL 2005-2007 CHRYSLER 300. THE INTERLOCK LATCH DEVICE SPRING HOOK BROKE AND DISABLED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN PARK. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM ON ALL VEHICLES AND ONLY RECALLED A SELECT FEW MADE IN CERTAIN AREAS. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ENOUGH THAT PRIVATE MANUFACTURES ARE MAKING REPLACEMENT PART FOR THIS SPECIFIC DEFECT. CAR HAS BEEN STALLING AFTER EVERY GAS FILL-UP FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS UNLESS I AM TRAVELING AT A STEADY SPEED OF OVER 20 MPH FOR AT LEAST 15 MILES AFTER FILL UP. STOPPING AT A LIGHT OR MAKING A LEFT TURN AND STALLING OUT IS A NIGHTMARE! IT ONLY HAPPENS AFTER A FILL UP. AT THIS POINT I TRY TO GUESS AT WHAT POINT TO TURN OFF THE GAS WHEN REFUELING TO AVOID THIS VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE 264 THE FIRST TIME THAT THE RED FLASHING BOLT CAME ON THE DASH OF MY CHRYSLER 300 TOURING, 2005, I WAS TRAVELING AROUND 60 MILES AN HOUR AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND DROPPED DOWN TO LESS THAN 30 MILES. IT WENT INTO THE LIMP HOME MODE. I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE AND RESTART THE CAR AND IT KEPT DOING THE SAME THING. MY HUSBAND TOOK IT TO TWO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS IN WHICH ONE PERSON SAID THAT HE HAD THE EQUIPMENT TO ANALYZE THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT. WELL WE GOT THE CAR BACK AND IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME THING EVEN WHEN DRIVING ON THE REGULAR STREETS. WE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THE CAR WAS WORST EVEN AFTER TAKING IT BACK THREE TIMES. WE WERE CHARGED OVER $2000.00 BETWEEN THE TWO DEALERSHIPS AND THE CAR IS IN WORST SHAPE THAN WHEN WE TOOK IT IN TO GET REPAIRED. I EMAILED CHRYSLER AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS NOT ON THE LIST THAT HAD BEEN RECALLED. IF CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIX IT, WHO CAN? I PUT IN A SPECIAL ORDER FOR MY CAR BECAUSE I WANTED THE LIGHT GREEN COLOR. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE EVER ORDERED A CAR FROM A COMPANY AND THIS IS HOW I AM TREATED. I THANK GOD THAT NO ONE HIT ME IN THE BACK WHEN THIS CAR WAS DOING THIS. WAS IN MY FATHER'S '05 CHRYSLER 300C, STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. ENGINE SHUT ITSELF OFF, STEERING COLUMN LOCKED, AND THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AGAIN, AND IT CONTINUED TO WORK FINE. UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR CAUSES TO THIS PROBLEM, I QUICKLY FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. I HAD THIS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES AFTER I WOULD FILL UP WITH GAS. AT ABOUT 30MPH OR WHEN I WOULD COME TO A STOP AND THEN TRY TO ACCELLERATE THE CAR WOULD STALL AND CUT OFF. CAR STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP , HARD TO RESTART ONLY AFTER FILL UP AT GAS STATION WITH FULL TANK OF GAS, REACHES 3/4 TANK OF GAS CAR RUNS FINE. *TR
THIS SITUATION HAS OCCURRED COUNTLESS TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF. AFTER FUELING, VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY STALL OUT, EITHER AT IDLE OR UNDER WAY. THIS HAS OCCURRED UNDER VARIOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS; AT SPEED, AT TRAFFIC SIGNALS, OR MUCH WORSE ON TURNS (WITH OBVIOUS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING.) I UNDERSTAND FROM MY OWN RESEARCH THAT THERE IS A CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK THAT FAILS, ALLOWING RAW GASOLINE TO ENTER THE VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM, WHICH CAUSES THE STALL. THE ONLY WAY TO REPLACE THIS VALVE IS TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK, AS THE VALVE IS MOLDED INTO AND IS INTEGRAL TO THE TANKS CONSTRUCTION. I'VE HAD QUOTES AROUND $1,200 TO REPLACE THE TANK, AND IT IS NOT CLEAR THAT THE NEW TANKS WILL HAVE A REDESIGNED VALVE, SO THE PROBLEM MAY NOT IN FACT BE RECTIFIED AFTER ALL. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION, AS I'VE BEEN IN SITUATIONS WHERE THE UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER STEERING COMPROMISED THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE ON TURNS. STALLING COMING OFF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL ACTUALLY CAUSED FOLLOWING VEHICLES TO REQUIRE DANGEROUS EVASIVE MANEUVERS. ON 3/9/2012 I WENT TO DRIVE MY CAR, AS I WAS PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE I FOUND THAT THE GEAR SHAFT WOULD NOT ENGAGE, I DID EVERYTHING TO GET IT TO ENGAGE, BUT IT WOULDN'T BUDGE, AFTER A WHILE I GAVE UP AND CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER DEALER WHO INSTRUCTED ME ON HOW TO GET THE BRACKET TO MOVE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT (THE BRACKET) MOVED, ALLOWING FOR THE GEAR SHAFT TO MOVE OUT OF PARK. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART MIGHT HAVE BEEN UNDER RECALL, I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH TRANSMISSION CUP PLUG BRACKET WAS UNDER RECALL FOR CERTAIN CHRYSLER, DODGE, AND JEEPS MY CAR DIDN'T FALL WITH IN THE PARAMETER OF THE VIN NUMBER. I PAID FOR THE REPAIR. I WOULD HAVE AGREE TO THIS HAD I NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO THE DATE ABOVE. RECENTLY PURCHASED 2005 CHRYSLER 300C THOUGHT I WAS GETTING GREAT DEAL ONLY HAD 47700 MILES ON IT. FIRST FILL UP IT STALLED IMMEDIATELY AFTER AND DID SO SEVERAL TIMES. ALSO, AFTER RESTART ON ALL 3 OCCASIONS, THE ENGINE RAN VERY ROUGH FOR 1-2 MILES AND THEN RAN SMOOTHLY. ON 1 OF THE OCCASIONS, THE CAR DIED THE NEXT DAY AFTER ONLY DRIVING A FEW BLOCKS FROM HOME. AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, THE SPARK PLUGS WERE CHANGED, THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CLEANED, THE VAPOR CANISTER WAS REPLACED, AND THE EVAPORATION SYSTEM SOLENOID WAS REPLACED. ON 1 OF THE OCCASIONS, THE GAS TANK WAS TOPPED OFF BEYOND THE INITIAL SHUT-OFF BY SEVERAL TENTHS OF A GALLON. AFTER THE 3RD OCCURRENCE (70,796 MILES), THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE OLATHE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK (2/20/2013). THE COST WAS $1583.58. SINCE THEN, THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 72,062 MILES ... APPROXIMATELY 1200 MILES SINCE REPLACING THE GAS TANK ... AND HAS NOT DIED FOLLOWING FILLING WITH GAS (6 TIMES). *TR

MY CHRYSLER 300 TOURING BEGAN TO STALL ANY TIME I REFUELED IN WINTER MONTHS. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALER THEY REPLACED THE "VAPOR CANISTER PURGE VALVE". THAT SOLVED THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. WHEN THE PROBLEM RESURFACED I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT NOW WAS A VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK AND THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. COST OF REPLACEMENT WAS ABOUT $2500. THE SERVICE TECH SAID JUST DON'T FILL UP THE TANK TO AVOID THE PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN DOING THAT IN THE WINTER EVER SINCE BUT LAST NIGHT AFTER REFUELING IT WAS FINE UNTIL I WAS DRIVING AROUND TRAFFIC CIRCLE AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO STALL AND I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR ENTERING THE TRAFFIC CIRCLE BEHIND ME. ENGINE STALLED SHORTLY AFTER REFUELING AND CONTINUED TO STALL UNTIL OR HESITATE UNTIL 2 - 3 GALLONS OF GASOLINE WAS BURNED OFF. THE CONDITION HAPPENS ALMOST 100% OF THE TIME IF THE TANK IS FILLED TO THE FIRST CLICK DURING REFUELING - IT THE TANK IS ONLY FILLED TO 85% THE CONDITION WILL NOT OCCUR. THE STALLING CONDITION IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS HARD TO RESTART AND REQUIRES EXCESSIVE CRANKING. IT APPEARS THE ENGINE STALLS WHEN THE EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM SENDS RAW FUEL TO THE THROTTLE BODY INSTEAD OF FUMES - THE ENGINE THEN STALLS AND IS DIFFICULT TO RESTART UNTIL AN IGNITABLE AIR/FUEL RATIO IS RE-ESTABLISHED. I WAS DRIVING THE SUBJECT VEHICLE AT 35 MPH AND HAD TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN WHEN THE ENGINE DIED AND THEN LOST POWER STEERING. TRYING TO COMPLETE THE TURN WITHOUT POWER STEERING WHILE TRYING TO RESTART A FLOODED ENGINE WAS DIFFICULT AND COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I'M AWARE THAT THE NHTSA IS LOOKING INTO 2006 MODEL YEAR CHRYSLER 300S EQUIPPED WITH THE HEMI ENGINE FOR THE EXACT SAME CONDITION. PLEASE BROADEN YOUR INVESTIGATION TO INCLUDE THE 2005 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES TOO. THE BUILD DATE OF THE SUBJECT VEHICLE WAS 03/04 SO IT WAS AN EARLY PRODUCTION VEHICLE. AS BEFORE, THE SUBJECT VEHICLE EXHIBITS THE STALLING CONDITION ALMOST 100% OF THE TIME IF THE GAS TANK IS FILLED TO THE FIRST CLICK. I'LL BE HAPPY TO MAKE THE VEHICLE AVAILABLE TO NHTSA ENGINEERS IF THEY NEED A VEHICLE TO EXAMINE AS PART OF THEIR INVESTIGATION. *TR
