WE BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW. MY WIFE FILL HER GAS TANK AND WHEN DRIVING OFF THE GAS LOT, HER VEHICLE DIED ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAS HAPPEN ALMOST EVERY TIME SHE GETS GAS. I FEEL THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND FROM READING MANY, MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS, THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH CHRYSLER HAS REPLACED THE GAS TANK ON THE 2006 MODEL BUT NOT THE 2005. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS. I KNOW I WILL BE CONTACTING MY ATTORNEY IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS ISSUE. *TR
AFTER FILLING UP, THE CAR DIED WHILE LEAVING THE GAS LOT ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR STARTED, IT DROVE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND DIED AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I FILL THE GAS TANK. I ALSO NOTICE WHAT MY MECHANIC CALLS A TOWING EFFECT WHEN I'M DRIVING. I HAVE HAD A FULL FUNE UP ON THE CAR ALONG WITH HAVING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED AND THE CAR STILL DIES AND HAS THE TOWING EFFECT WHEN I DRIVE. THIS IS VERY MUCH A SAFETY ISSUE AND FROM SEEING WHAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING, WHY HASN'T THIS ISSUE BEEN ADDRESSED. IF I AM INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS, THERE WILL BE A LAWSUIT. *TR
CAR STALLS AFTER GAS TANK IS FILLED UP. CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND AT INTERSECTIONS. THIS IS DANGEROUS. REVIEW ON INTERNET SHOWS THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. CURRENT SOLUTION IS TO AVOID FILLING UP THE GAS TANK. *JS
I HAVE A HEMI ENGINE. WITHIN THE LAST YEAR IT STARTED STALLING ON ME WHEN MY GAS TANK WAS ON EMPTY AND I FILED IT UP. ON THE FREEWAY A FEW TIMES AND IT STALLS!! I TOOK TO DIFFERENT SHOPS AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT. NOW MY PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. IT STALLS ON ME MULTIPLE TIMES AFTER GAS. IT SPIT AND JERKS. COMPLETELY DANGEROUS. I AM A ACCIDENT INJURY ADJUSTER THAT DOES CLAIMS EVERYDAY ALL DAY, AND IF I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS , I WILL SUE BOTH CHRYSLER AND NHTSA. SOMEONE PLEASE RESPOND AS I AM GETTING VERY FRUSTRATED AND WANT THIS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS EXPERIENCED FLICKERING, THE VEHICLE TURNING SIGNAL CEASED TO FUNCTION, THE WINDOWS DID NOT OPERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, AND THE SEAT BELT LAP BELT FAILED TO LATCH. IN ADDITION, THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUSE BOX NEEDED A NEW FUSE PANEL COVER AND THE SEAT BELT LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
AFTER FUELING UP MY CHRYSLER 300C, MY CAR STALLED AND COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN (APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES AFTER FILL UP). LUCKILY, I WAS IN THE PARKING LOT OF MY WORK AT THE TIME, SO I WAS ONLY GOING 5-10 MPH. UNFORTUNATELY, THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FROZE AND I WAS UNABLE TO PARK THE CAR, SO THE CAR WAS RESTING IN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF OTHER CARS DRIVING IN THE LOT. ALSO, I CAME TWO INCHES FROM HITTING A TREE SINCE I COULD NOT STEER THE CAR AWAY FROM ANY OBJECTS IN MY PATH. THANK GOODNESS THE BREAKS STILL WORKED. I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE CAR FOR A FEW MINUTES. AFTER APPROX. 10 MINUTES OF RESTING THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARKING LOT, THE CAR RESTARTED WITH A "POP" NOISE. ONCE WE GOT THE CAR STARTED, I WAS ABLE TO PARK IT IN A SAFE SPOT. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR, ESPECIALLY IN TRAFFIC OR ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGHER RATES OF SPEED. I AM A SINGLE MOM WITH TWO YOUNG KIDS AND IT REALLY HAS ME FREAKED OUT TO THINK THAT WE COULD BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT SHOULD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN. OBVIOUSLY, THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN, MYSELF AND ANY OTHER INNOCENT PERSON ON THE ROAD HAS ME CONCERNED. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER, AND I NEVER TOPPED OFF THE TANK. PLEASE RECALL THE FUEL TANK ON THESE CARS AS THEY ARE NOT SAFE. ALSO, PLEASE INCLUDE THE 2005 YEAR IN YOUR INVESTIGATION. *TR
I HAD JUST COMPLETED A FUEL FILL-UP AND UPON DRIVING AWAY FROM THE PUMP THE ENGINE DIED, LOSING ALL POWER. WITH 3-4 ATTEMPTED RESTARTS THE CAR MOVED FOR SHORT DISTANCES AND REPEATEDLY DIED. WHEN IT DID RESTART, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN DRIVE. EVENTUALLY, THE CAR WOULD RUN NORMALLY AND WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN UNTIL THE NEXT FILL UP. THE LATEST INCIDENT (AFTER 3 INCIDENTS) OCCURRED FEB 4, 2014. AFTER MY MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE INCIDENT ON FEB 7 AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES TO OTHER VEHICLES. CHRYSLER CORP SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL IN MY OPINION. *TR
THE CAR WILL STALL AFTER A FILLIP, EVEN WHEN THE TANK IS NOT OVER FILLED. THIS HAS PLACED ME IN SEVERAL DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, WHERE I AM STRANDED ON BUSY ROADS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOW DEFECT IN MANY CHRYSLER CARS AND VANS. *TR
AFTER REFUELING THE CAR STALLS. IT TAKES ABOUT 3 OR 4 MINUTES, SO BY THAT TIME I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. *TR
EVERY TIME AFTER GAS FILL UP FROM THE FIRST TIME IN DEC 2012 TO NOW, THIS CAR STALLS AFTER FILL UP. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW IN MAY 2004 FROM CHRYSLER DEALER AND ALL SERVICE HAS BEEN WITH BOSAK CHRYSLER. I WAS THINKING GAS FILTERS, BUT UNTIL I CHECKED HERE TO FIND OUT IF THERE WAS ANY RECALL, FOUND THAT TOO MANY OTHERS HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T SEE ANY NOTIFICATIONS FILED BY CHRYSLER, ARE WE ALL TO ASSUME THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT ATTEMPTING TO ADDRESS THIS SITUATION. *TR
CAR STALLS AFTER FILLING CAR UP WITH GAS. *TR
SINCE NOVEMBER 2013, EACH TIME I FILL UP MY 2005 CHRYSLER 300C, IT STALLS FOR THE FIRST 5--20 MINUTES AFTER THE FILL UP. IN DECEMBER 2013, I BROUGHT IT TO MY CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP (WHICH HAS WORKED ON THE CAR SINCE 2006), AND IT SAID MY CAR NEEDED AN EVAP CANISTER AND A SOLENOID. THE PARTS WERE ORDERED AND THE INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT WORK WAS DONE ON DECEMBER 6, 2013. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR STILL STALLS, STARTING RIGHT AS I PULL OUT FROM THE GAS STATION. THE MOST DISCONCERTING THING IS THAT WHEN THE ENGINE STALLS, AND YOU ARE STEERING INTO A CORNER, THE POWER STEERING IS GONE. THIS MAKES STEERING VERY DIFFICULT AND IS VERY DANGEROUS, PARTICULARLY ON THE TWO-LANE ROADS I MOSTLY TRAVEL. I AM NOW THINKING IT MAY BE THAT THERE IS SOME WATER IN THE GASOLINE TANK OR GASOLINE LINE. I SENSE THE ELECTRONICS IN THE ENGINE CALLING FOR GAS (OR NOT ACCEPTING GAS) WHEN THERE IS SOMETHING BAD IN THE GASOLINE LINE. NOT SURE HOW THERE IS WATER IN THE TANK, AS THE CAR SINCE BEING PURCHASED NEW IS GARAGED WHEN AT HOME AND AT WORK AND WELL CARED FOR OTHERWISE. I JUST READ THIS EVENING ON THE WEB THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS KNOWN SINCE AT LEAST MAY OF 2013. THIS IS VERY DISCONCERTING; THE DEALERSHIP MENTIONED NOTHING ABOUT THIS KNOWN PROBLEM TO ME. AND SO I HAD THIS WORK DONE NEEDLESSLY, AT MY EXPENSE AND FOR NO SUCCESSFUL RESULT. THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THE RECALL TO ME WHEN I FIRST BROUGHT THE CAR IN WITH THIS ISSUE. IT WAS SUGGESTED I MIGHT NEED TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK. HAS CHRYSLER FIGURED OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS? DID THIS IN TURN RESULT IN A RECALL? CAN I ASK THE DEALERSHIP FOR MY MONEY BACK? ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW THIS CAN BE FIXED? *TR
AFTER FUELING VEHICLE (FULL TANK) I DROVE ABOUT 1/4 MILE FROM THE GAS STATION WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE TURNED COMPLETELY OFF WHILE I WAS IN A TURN CAUSING ME DRIVE UP ON A CURB AND ALMOST STRIKING A PEDESTRIAN. TOOK ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO GET MY VEHICLE BACK STARTED AND ABOUT ANOTHER 1/4 MILE DOWN THE ROAD IT STALLED AGAIN THIS TIME MAKING ME GO THROUGH AN INTERSECTION BECAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL GOT HARD. I ENDED UP GETTING IT HOME AND IT SAT OVER NIGHT. NEXT MORNING TOOK IT OUT, NO PROBLEM EXCEPT WHEN I WAS LEAVING A STORE IT STALLED AGAIN. I THOUGHT IT WAS A FUEL ISSUE, FUEL PRESSURE CHECKED OK. I DRAINED THE GAS IN THE TANK AND REFUELED FROM ANOTHER STATION SAME PROBLEM. SEEMS TO HAPPEN ONLY WHEN I COMPLETELY FILL UP BUT NOT 100% OF THE TIME. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR BODY CODES WERE DETECTED ON THE CAR'S COMPUTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300C. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,00.
AFTER FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GASOLINE IT SURGES WHILE GONG DOWN THE ROAD THEN DIES. VEHICLE RESTARTS, MAY SURGE AND DIE AGAIN, THEN DRIVES NORMALLY TELL NEXT GAS FILL UP. *TR

THE FAILURES OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,200.
I PURCHASED THIS 2005 CHRYSLER 300C ON NOVEMBER 20, 2013 FROM HOOVER CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND EVER SINCE THEN THE CAR HAS BEEN STALLING OUT EVERY TIME I GET GAS AND I DO NOT OVER FILL MY TANK BUT DO FILL IT UP TO ALMOST FULL. ANYWAYS THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES I'VE HAD IT STALL OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL GOING AT HIGH SPEEDS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THIS CAR IS DOING THIS I TRADED MY 2010 DODGE CHARGER SXT WHICH WASN'T THE HEMI FOR A HEMI AND FEEL LIKE I GOT A WORST ENGINE. ANYWAYS I REALLY HOPE THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED BY CHRYSLER I'VE SPENT ALOT ON REPAIRS AND THIS ISN'T FAIR THAT THE BUYER HAS TO DEAL WITH THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM I'VE OWNED PLENTY OF CARS AND NEVER HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN SO OBVIOUSLY CHRYSLER IS RESPONSIBLE! *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER W/O HAVING THE EXPERIENCE OF THE 300C STALLING WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PREVIOUSLY. THE CAR NOW STALLS 3 TO 4 TIMES AFTER REFUELING. I HAVE PURCHASED HIGH-OCTANE GAS FROM THE SAME VENDOR SINCE 2004 W/ NO ISSUES. MY MECHANIC THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE RESIDUE FROM THE GAS TANK GIVEN THE VEHICLE AGE OR AN AIR BUBBLE BECAUSE I LET THE TANK GET TO ~ 2 GALLONS. MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES INDICATING ISSUES. THE CAR NOW STALLS W/I A MINUTE OF REFUELING WHILE TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR SEVERAL TIMES BETWEEN STATION & HOME. THE CAR WILL NOT START IN N, IT HAS TO BE IN P. TYPICALLY THE NEXT DAY AFTER REFUELING THE CAR IS FINE, FORTUNATELY I DID NOT MAKE IT TO THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR STALLED REQUIRING THE MORE THAN 2 TURNS OF THE KEY IN P. AGAIN NO READINGS ON AUTOSCANNER THAT I PURCHASED BECAUSE TIME/$ PROHIBIT GOING TO MECHANIC CONSTANTLY. MY SON IS LEARNING TO DRIVE AND TEACHING A 16 YEAR OLD HOW TO OPERATE A STALLED VEHICLE WITH NO STEERING IS DIFFICULT. UPON STALLING, THE CAR BRAKES ARE THE ONLY OPTION OF CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. I HOPE CHRYSLER FINDS A FIX BECAUSE THIS CAR HAS BEEN VERY RELIABLE. *TR
I TURNED ON MY CAN AND IT ACCELERATED BY ITS SELF AND I GET NO RESPONSE WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL .. *TR
AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND SPEED WAS REDUCED TO ABOUT 20 MPH. WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY THE CAR STARTED TO SPURT AND THEN SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT ONCE IT SLOWED DOWN AGAIN THE CAR SHUT OFF. I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED BUT FORTUNATELY THE TRUCK BEHIND ME STOPPED IN TIME. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE TANK IS FULL SO ONCE THERE IS ONLY ABOUT 3/4 OF A TANK FULL THE SHUT DOWNS CEASE. DOES IT TAKE FATAL ACCIDENTS LIKE WHAT GM HAD BEFORE CHRYSLER ISSUES A RECALL? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT AND REAR END COLLISION. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THERE WERE THREE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 185,000.
THE VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT SEVERAL TIMES AFTER FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS AND IT ONLY STALLS OUT AFTER FILLING THE TANK. VEHICLE WILL STALL WHEN STOPPED OR WHEN THE RPM IS LOW. THE PROBLEM IS THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE VALVE IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT LIQUID FUEL FROM ENTERING THE CHARCOAL CANISTER/EMISSIONS SYSTEM. WHEN THE VALVE FAILS, LIQUID GAS CAN ENTER THE LINE AND FILL THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. AFTER REFUELING THE PCM ON THE VEHICLE DETECTS A CHANGE IN FUEL LEVEL. THEN, WHEN THE ENGINE MEETS CERTAIN TEMPERATURE AND DRIVING CRITERIA, THE PCM ISSUES A PURGE COMMAND TO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER TO REMOVE THE STORED GAS VAPORS. IT'S AT THAT POINT THAT ALL THE LIQUID GAS IN THE LINE GETS SUCKED INTO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. THE PCM EXPECTS TO SEE GAS VAPORS ENTERING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND IT IS PREPARED TO ADJUST AIR/FUEL MIXTURES TO COMPENSATE. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT PREPARED TO SEE LIQUID GAS COMING INTO THE INTAKE. THAT'S WHAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL. THIS CAN BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC. I'VE READ IN MULTIPLE ONLINE FORUMS THIS SAME SITUATION IS HAPPENING TO MANY ON THE CHRYSLER 300C EARLY YEAR MODELS. HOPEFULLY A RECALL WILL BE CREATED TO RESOLVE THIS SITUATION. *TR
AFTER FILLING THE CAR UP WITH GAS THE CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. I HAD TO CRANK THE CAR AND QUICKLY START DRIVING TO KEEP IT FROM STALLING. I THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE CAR 70 MILES WITHOUT STOPPING AND NOT HAVING ANY ISSUES. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF I WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN A HIGH TRAFFIC (STOP AND GO) AREA!! *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL MY GAS TANK MY CAR WOULD STALL. I HAVE ALREADY SPENT OVER 1000 DOLLARS CHANGING THE FUEL PUMP AND FILTER AND STILL PROBLEM PERSIST. DOING SOME RESEARCH IN FORUMS I AM NOT ONLY ONE. THE PROBLEMS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECTIVE FUEL TANK WHICH NEEDS TO BE REPAIR THIS COST A LOT OF MONEY AND WHY CHRYSLER HAVE NOT STARTED A RECALL. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED STRONG FUEL FUMES EMITTING AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER RECALL AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. INITIALLY, THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE FAILURE, LATER DECIDING THE FUEL PUMP. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. UPDATED 06/12/2017 *JS

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.

I LOST ALL CONFIDENCE IN THEIR ABILITY TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AND ASKED TO GET THE CAR BACK. THE MOST COMMON THREAD ONLINE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH EVAPORATION SYSTEM. I HAD TO MAKE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS FOR TRANSPORTATION. THE COST OF REPAIR IS ESTIMATED TO BE AROUND $500.00. I HAVE SPOKEN BOTH WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. CHRYSLER TOOK MY INFORMATION INCLUDING MY VEHICLE MILEAGE OF 54000. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOT ANYTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. A HIGH NUMBER OF OTHER 2005 CHRYSLER 300 OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS EXACT PROBLEM. IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER. CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION K39. THEIR EXPLANATION ON HOW THEY REACH THEIR DETERMINATION AS TO WHICH 2005 CHRYSLER 300'S THEY WILL SERVICE FREE OF CHARGE IS UNCONSCIONABLE. I COULD NOT SHIFT MY CAR OUT OF PARK. I WAS SO SURPRISED I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. ICALLED MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED IN. I FOUND OUT LATER THAT IT WAS A KNOWN DEFECT IN A SMALL PINK PLASTIC PIECE, CALLED THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER. THIS PART WAS RECALLED DUE TO THIS DEFECT. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I HAD TO PAY TO GET THIS FIXED BECAUSE I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE RECALL OR IF MY CAR WAS EVEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. AFTER FILLING MY CAR AT A SERVICE STATION UNTIL THE FIRST TIME THE FUEL PUMP CLICKED OFF I ATTEMPTED TO LEAVE THE SERVICE STATION AND AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE MY CAR STALLED IN TRAFFIC AND WOULD NOT START FOR ABOUT 3 TO 4 ATTEMPTS. IF TRAFFIC WOULD HAVE BEEN HEAVIER THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT AS I LOST TOTAL CONTROL OF THE CAR FROM STEERING TO BRAKING WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT-OFF. AFTER RUNNING ROUGH FOR SEVERAL MILES AND SEVERAL MORE STALLS THE PROBLEM FIXED ITSELF. THIS NOW OCCURS AFTER EVERYTIME I SERVICE MY CAR WITH FUEL AND HAS BECOME A RITUAL UNLESS I TAKE THE TIME TO CALCULATE THE ESTIMATED FUEL REMAINING IN THE TANK AND SUBTRACT IT FROM THE TOTAL CAPACITY THEN ONLY ADD ENOUGH FUEL TO TAKE ME UP TO TWO GALLONS FROM FULL. DIDN'T REALIZE I NEEDED TO BE A MATH WIZARD TO OWN A CHRYSLER 300C. NOW THAT I KNOW THIS IS A REPEATABLE PROBLEM I MUST TELL ANYONE WHO I LOAN MY CAR TO OR THEY COULD FACE A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT SINCE THIS HAS NOT BEEN PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGED BY CHRYSLER AS A RECURRING AND PREDICTABLE PROBLEM. THE GAS PEDAL IS NOT RETURNING BACK AND I HAD TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE CAR WITH BRAKE AND ALSO BY LIFTING THE GAS PEDAL WITH MY RIGHT FOOT. AT ONE OCCASION I HAD TO PUT THE GEAR TO NEUTRAL TO AVOID AN IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT.
IN THE VERY LATE AFTERNOON OF 8/16/2013, AFTER GROCERY SHOPPING, I WENT BACK TO MY CAR THAT I PARKED EARLIER IN THE STORE'S PARKING LOT, PLACED THE GROCERIES IN THE TRUNK, CLOSED IT, GOT IN THE CAR, PUT ON MY SEAT-BELT AND STARTED THE ENGINE. SO FAR, EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND NORMAL. I THEN PRESSED THE BRAKES PEDAL, RELEASED THE HAND-BRAKE AND TRIED TO PULL THE GEAR SHIFTER FROM PARK TO REVERSE, NOTHING, IT DOESN'T WORK; IT'S STUCK. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, RESTARTED IT AND WENT TO THE SAME PROCESS TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. STILL, NOTHING, EVEN AFTER ABOUT 20 REPEATS. FOR SOME REASON, THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS DEFINITELY STUCK IN PARK. EVEN OVERRIDING THE PARK INTERLOCK SYSTEM (AS RECOMMENDED BY CHRYSLER, IN CASE OF AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION) DIDN'T HELP. AFTER 2 HOURS TRYING, IN VAIN, TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE HELP OF A VERY KIND PASSERBY, ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED, I GAVE UP AND HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO MY RESIDENCE. AS I SEARCHED THE INTERNET THE NEXT DAY TO FIND OUT WHETHER ANY OTHER CHRYSLER OWNER HAD REPORTED SUCH AN EXPERIENCE, I FOUND HUNDREDS OF CHRYSLER AND DODGE OWNERS REPORTING SUCH AN EXPERIENCE WITH THEIR VEHICLE. THE CULPRIT IS A PIECE OF PINK PLASTIC THAT CHRYSLER HAS USED AS A PART IN THE PARK INTERLOCK MECHANISM OF THEIR 2005 - 2007 CHRYSLER AND DODGE VEHICLES. A REPEALING SPRING IS ATTACHED TO THAT PART BY A TINY TAB. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE, BECAUSE IT IS OBVIOUS TO ANYONE WITH A LITTLE BIT OF COMMONSENSE THAT AS THAT PART IS FREQUENTLY USED (DURING PARKING AND GETTING OUT OF PARKING), THE COMBINED EFFECTS OF THE TENSION OF THE SPRING AND THE WEATHER CHANGES WILL RESULT IN HAVING THE TINY TAB ON THE PINK PLASTIC PART EASILY BREAK. THIS WILL HAPPEN TO EVERY CHRYSLER AND DODGE MODEL THAT IS USING THAT PIECE OF PLASTIC. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS WHEN THEY MAKE SUCH A TERRIBLE AND UNACCEPTABLE ENGINEERING MISTAKE. *TR

ONCE GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE AND TURNING ONTO A FRONTAGE ROAD, DRIVING 35 MPH MY CAR LOST POWER AND STALLED. I PULLED ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED MY CAR OFF, AND IT TURNED BACK ON. HOWEVER, THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING OFF AND ON SINCE AUGUST 2013 (7-8XS). IT MOST COMMONLY STALLS AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL OFTEN TIMES BECOME LOCKED WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A TURN WHEN THE CAR STALLS. THE ESP/BAS LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND A RED LIGHT WITH A LIGHTENING BOLT WITH VERTICAL LINES ON EACH SIDE OF IT (SYMBOL NOT IN CHRYSLER MANUAL) ALL TURN ON WHEN THE CAR STALLS. THE CAR STALLS 3-4XS BEFORE MAKING IT TO THE DESTINATION. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP 3XS AND LEAVE WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION OF THE CURRENT PROBLEM. *TR
