ON SATOT HAVING BE.8/30/14 MY 300C WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. I NOT USED THE CARE TO GO TO MY VETERANS HOSPITAL APPOINTMENTS AND COULD NOT GO BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET THE GEAR SHIFTER OUT OF PARK! I HAD TO CALL USAA FOR A TOW ON A FLATBED TRUCK TO DARCARS CHRYSLER WALDORF,MD WHO HAS MAINTAINED HIS CAR FOR MANY YEARS. I WAS TOLD BY THE ICE MANAGER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A PINK PLASTIC PIECE IN THE CENTER COUNSEL AND ITS SPRING THAT FAILED, AND IS A COMMON OCCURANCE IN THIS VEHICLE LEAVING IT UNABLE TO MOVE AT ALL-TRASMISSION AND REAR WHEELS LOCKED BY SHIFTER. I CHECKED YOUR PAGES FOR RECALLS AND I SAW TWO RECENT ONES OF THE SAME CAR/STYLE/YEARAS MINE. I NEED MY CAR IT HAS VETERANS "DV' PLATES AS I AM TOTALLY COMBAT WOUNDED AND DISABLED. I THINK CHRYSLER MUST PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AS IT IS THEIR FAULT, THEY KNEW IT FOR YEARS, AND I AM THINKMING OF FILING A FEDERAL COURT CLASS ACTION UNDER 28 USC IN .MD AS WAS AGAINST GM AND FORD.
WE WERE ON A CROSS-COUNTRY TRIP AND ONE NIGHT WE HAD JUST FILLED UP AND WENT ACROSS THE PARKING LOT TO A FAST FOOD WINDOW AND WHILE GETTING OUR FOOD THE CAR STARTING JERKING AND DIED. IT WAS HARD TO START BUT FINALLY WE WERE ABLE TO GO A LITTLE FURTHER AND IT DIED AT OUR HOTEL. THE REST OF THE WAY HOME WHENEVER WE FILLED UP THE CAR WOULD STALL SEVERAL TIMES. IT STOPPED FOR AWHILE BUT RECENTLY HAS STARTED DYING AGAIN WHEN I FILL UP. LAST NIGHT I FILLED UP AND THE CAR DIED SEVERAL TIMES IN TRAFFIC. WE DO NOT OVERFILL AND TIGHTEN THE GAS CAP TIGHTLY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V313000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. I COULD NOT SHIFT MY CAR OUT OF PARK. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND A KNOWN DEFECT IN A SMALL PINK PLASTIC PIECE, CALLED THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER. THIS PART WAS RECALLED DUE TO THIS DEFECT. I CALLED THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY COULD FIX IT ON WEDNESDAY (SIX DAYS LATER) AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. FURTHER RESEARCH DETERMINED THAT THE RECALL, SHOWN AS FOR MODEL YEARS 2005-2008, WAS ACTUALLY LIMITED TO MANUFACTURE DATES IN THIS RANGE. MY CAR WAS BUILT IN 2004. THE REPAIR COST $134, INCLUDING THE $13 PART. I CALLED CHRYSLER TWICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT. IT ALSO SEEMS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT THAT NOT COVERING THE FIRST CARS BUILT, IN 2004, IS A CLERICAL OVERSIGHT, AS 2005 WAS THE FIRST MODEL YEAR. THE SAME POOR-QUALITY PLASTIC WAS USED IN 2004 AS IN 2005-2008. I BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS REPAIR, IF NOT ALSO FOR THE 6 DAYS WITHOUT USE OF MY CAR, AND THAT ALL CARS BUILT WITH THIS INFERIOR PINK PLASTIC PIECE SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR

CAR WAS STUCK IN PARK COULD NOT MOVE MY CAR TOW TRUCK DRIVER TORE OFF MY BUMPER WHILE IN PARK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 CHRYSLER 300C. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED AND THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG BURNING ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED SMOKE AND LARGE FLAMES COMING FROM THE TRUNK. THE FUEL TANK EXPLODED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,646.
THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES. I AM JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE STALLS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I LOOSE MY POWER STEERING AND HAVE TO TRY TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONCE I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN IT OFF IT WILL THEN RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT SPEEDS FROM10-70. THE SECOND ISSUE IS SOMETIMES THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD ON ITS OWN OR ACCELERATES MUCH MORE THAN WHAT I AM PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER OWNERS OF THESE CARS AND WE ALL SEEM TO BE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS BUT WHEN WE TAKE IT TO MECHANICS SINCE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN THEY TEST DRIVE IT THEY CAN'T TELL US WHAT'S WRONG. I HAVE HAD SOME VERY CLOSE CALLS WITH THESE ISSUES AND CAME VERY CLOSE TO BEING INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS. I AM SURE THERE HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY THESE SAME ISSUES BUT IT MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN TRACED BACK TO THE CAR, IT WAS PROBABLY THOUGHT THAT IT WAS DRIVER ERROR. *TR
GEAR SHIFT STUCK IN PARK. CALLED CHRYSLER DEALER ABOUT GETTING IT FIXED, BUT SAID "YOUR VIN" ISN'T PART OF THE RECALL THAT THEY HAVE ON IT. ITS SOME PINK PLASTIC THING THAT BREAKS, THE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION K39 - TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER" APPARENTLY ONLY APPLIES TO CERTAIN "VIN"S. CHATTED ONLINE WITH "CUSTOMER CARE" AGENT AT CHRYSLER WHICH WAS BRIEF, SHE STATED MY VIN ISN'T COVERED I'D HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS, AS SHE WAS RUDE, SO I DIDN'T GET AN ANSWER AS TO WHY ONLY SOME VINS ARE BEING FIXED WHEN THERE ARE TONS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE PROBLEM. A SIMPLE SEARCH ON-LINE BRINGS UP OVER 150K RESULTS, AND I SEE HERE THERE ARE COMPLAINTS TOO FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. AN ACTUAL METAL SOLID REPLACEMENT PIECE COSTS $15, I'LL HAVE TO GET THE DEALER OR A MECHANIC TO INSTALL IT (THE DEALERS REPLACE WITH SAME PLASTIC PIECE OR REPLACE WHOLE SHIFTER)... SEEMS THIS IS ANOTHER "GM IGNITION SWITCH" WAITING TO HAPPEN. HOPEFULLY THIS ISSUE WON'T CAUSE ANY DEATHS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY ONLY SOME VINS ARE BEING FIXED. *TR

THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THIS CAR HAS ISSUES FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO ELECTRICAL THE COMPANY NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX THEM BETTER. *TR
WHEN I START MY CAR (2005 CHRYSLER 300C) THE GEAR SHIFT IS STUCK IN PARK AND WOULD NOT MOVE FROM THE PARK POSITION. CAR STARTS NORMALLY, NO READINGS ON DASH, GAVE NO INDICATION THAT A FAILURE WAS ABOUT TO OCCUR. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND GAVE MY VIN NUMBER TO CHECK FOR RECALLS, THERE ARE NONE. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAVE FOUND VIDEOS ON HOW TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM WHEN I SEARCHED THE ISSUE ON LINE. CHRYSLER USED WHAT AMOUNTS TO A PLASTIC TIE AND A SPRING TO CONTROL A 35K VEHICLE. *TR
MY 2005 300C HAS BEEN STALLING SINCE JANUARY 2014, I LATER FOUND OUT DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL TANK. I HAD MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF STALLING AND ENGINE SHUTTERING HARD, AND VERY HARD RESTARTS ALMOST GETTING T-BONED TWO TIMES DURING THE STALL AND RESTART PROCESS. WHILE ON THE WAITING LIST FOR A NEW TANK, MY HEMI ENGINE BLEW UP COSTING 6K FOR A NEW MOTOR. THIS ENGINE WAS METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED WITH RECORDS, I CALLED CHRYSLER AND ASKED THEIR ENGINEERS TO INVESTIGATE "IF THE ENGINE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE TANK HYDRO LOCKING". AFTER MANY CALLS TO UNHELPFUL PEOPLE, SOME OF WHOM DID NOT EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE TANK ISSUE, THE SUPERVISOR REFUSED TO ESCALATE MY REQUEST TO ENGINEERING AND SUMMARILY CLOSED THE CASE, IN SPITE OF HIS EMPLOYEE FIRST TELLING ME TO PROVE IT AND HELPING ME GET A TEAR DOWN QUOTE FROM THE LOCAL DEALER FOR A ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS. SO NOW THEY SAY EVEN IF I PROVE IT, THEY WILL NOT INVESTIGATE IF TANKS ARE THE CAUSE OF ENGINE FAILURES AND THEY CLOSED MY CASE. I THINK IT IS DOUBLY UNSAFE IF THE BAD TANKS ARE ALSO BLOWING ENGINES, AND IT IS BAD CORPORATE BEHAVIOR TO DENY A LINK BUT REFUSE TO HAVE THE ENGINEERING DEPT. LOOK AT THE POSSIBILITY OF A LINKAGE. THE OUTRIGHT REFUSAL TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE OR ASSIST EVEN IF/WHEN I PROVE THAT THE TANK CAUSED THE ENGINE TO BLOW, IS BEYOND UNETHICAL AND I REQUEST THAT THE LINK BETWEEN BAD TANKS AND BLOWN ENGINES BE INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA AND SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED, AND OTHER APPROPRIATE MEASURE TO MITIGATE THIS. *JS

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO REDUCE IN SPEED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.
OUR ENGINE WENT OUT AND NEEDED REPLACED WHEN CAR WAS UNDER 80,000 MILES. IT HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR OVER $3000. NOW WE ARE TOLD THAT THE CRADLE/SUBFRAME THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE IN IS RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING OUR VEHICLE PROBLEMS WHEN TURNING RIGHT. IT'S READY TO BREAK AND CAUSE MANY PROBLEMS IF WE CONTINUE DRIVING IT!!! I'VE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS WITH BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ONLINE THAT PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED TO THE COMPANY. WHAT'S IT GOING TO TAKE TO GET A RECALL? A DEATH AS RESULT OF AN ACCIDENT CAUSED FROM DRIVING THE CAR. I HAVE KIDS...ITS UNSAFE AND COSTLY... WHAT A JUNK CAR CHRYSLER :( *TR

I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINT ARTICLES FOR SAME PROBLEM WITH SAME MAKE AND MODEL. FOUND A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION K39 ON INTERNET. CALLED THE NUMBER TO CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER LISTED IN THE NOTIFICATION ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH THE LETTER ADDRESSED 2005 CHRYSLER 300S MY VIN DID NOT APPLY. ALSO CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, SAME ANSWER, CANT HELP ME UNLESS I PAY. NOW I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION TO WORK OR OTHERWISE AND HAVE TO PAY TO GET VEHICLE TOWED AND FIND A MECHANIC THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM FOR $$. THIS SEEMS TO BE A HUGE PROBLEM FOR CHRYSLER/DODGE OWNERS AND DUE TO NOTIFICATION THEY ARE QUITE AWARE. VERY UNSAFE TO LEAVE PEOPLE, CHILDREN STRANDED DUE TO THIS FAULTY PLASTIC TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT LEVER INTERLOC RETURN SPRING HOOK. *TR
GEAR SHIFTER LOCKED IN PARK. HAD CAR TOWED TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. MECHANIC SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER. *TR
I WAS LEAVING WORK AND STARTED MY CAY AND WENT TO PUT IT IN REVERSE AND NOTHING HAPPEN. IT WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK. THE GEAR WAS LOCKED IN PARK . I CALLED A TOW TRUCK, AND THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER INFORMED ME THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE GEAR SHIFT FOR CHRYSLER 300S .I CALL THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT "YES THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THAT PARTICULAR PART, BUT NOT ON MY YEAR VEHICLE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY NOT MY YEAR MODEL. IF ITS A PROBLEM IN OTHER YEAR MODEL, THEN IT MAKES SENSE THAT IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANY YEAR MODEL 300. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO THIS HAS HAPPENED TO UNEXPECTED, AND I DON'T FEEL THE DEALERSHIP IS BEING FAIR TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE 2005 300 AWD MODEL. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. VEHICLE STALLS REPEATEDLY AFTER FUELING. *TR
ALL 4 TIRES ARE DISINTEGRATING FROM THE INSIDE OUT ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC. THEY LOOK GOOD ON THE OUTSIDE, BUT HE SAID THEY ARE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND TO TAKE BACK TO COSTCO FOR EXCHANGE. THEY ARE ABOUT 3 YEARS OLD WITH LESS THEN 30000 MILES OUT OF 90000 WARRANTY. BRAND IS MICHELIN HYDROEDGE, WHICH IS NOT LISTED IN DESCRIPTIONS. DON'T HAVE DOT # AS CAR IS AT THE MECHANIC. *TR
AFTER FILLING MY FUEL TANK THE CAR WOULD STALL AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 5 - 30 MPH CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKING. UPON SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL IT WOULD START BUT WOULD STALL 2 OR 3 MORE TIMES. I WAS NOT SURE OF THE CAUSE UNTIL JUNE OF THIS YEAR WHEN I GOT A NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THAT THEY HAVE ISSUED A RECALL. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART. THIS WAS 7/16/2014. TO DATE THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE PART AND I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAY THEY ARE NOT PRODUCING THEM. THE CAR IN THIS STATE IS NOT SAFE. I CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I WERE GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THERE MUST BE SOME RECOURSE TO FORCE A MANUFACTURER TO HONOR A RECALL. *TR
AFTER FILLING UP MY CAR WITH GAS THE CAR STALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER FILLING UP AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE CAR STALLS WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. CAR RESTARTS BUT IF ON HIGHWAY ALL POWER IS LOST - SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
AT A STOP OR LOW SPEED THE CAR WILL SPUTTER, CHUG, JUMP AND DIE. NO DASH INDICATOR LIGHTS COME ON. CAR WILL RESTART. IT MAY OCCUR AT STOP LIGHTS, IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS OR WHEN PARKING. I WAS TOLD BY THE CHRYSLER DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT IT WAS A FUEL TANK PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM MANY OTHER CHRYSLER 300'S HAVE BEEN HAD, BUT MY MODEL WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I SEE THAT OTHER CHRYSLER MODELS HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER A NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE13016. IN MY CASE, I DO NOT KNOW IF THE PROBLEM HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL LEVEL OR THE TANK BEING RECENTLY FILLED. IT IS SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN SINCE THE CAR CAN DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, OR MAYBE IN A PARKING LOT WHEN YOU ARE PARKING, OR BRAKING FOR OTHER CARS OR PEDESTRIANS. WHEN YOU SUDDENLY HAVE NO POWER AND CAN'T CONTROL THE VEHICLE IT IS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. PLEASE HELP ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND GET THESE TANKS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THANK YOU. *TR
VEHICLE'S ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING LIKE THE KEY WOULD BE PULLED OUT, WOULD NOT START RIGHT AWAY, SOME TIMES WOULD NOT START AT ALL BEFORE A TRIP. IT HAPPENS DAILY AND AFTER GOING TO 3 MECHANICS AND 1 CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THE ISSUE CANNOT BE IDENTIFIED. NO CODES ARE STORED AND THEREFORE THEY SAID IT'S WORKING FINE. DO I NEED TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT BEFORE THIS PROBLEM IS ADDRESSED? I KNOW ABOUT MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME UNIDENTIFIED ERROR. THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE NEW MODELS AND THEY SHOULD START CHECKING THE OLD ONE AS WELL. IT IS DEFINITELY AN IGNITION PROBLEM AS THE CAR CAN BE STARTED BY BYPASSING THE KEY SWITCH. *TR
AFTER FILLING TANK WITH FUEL, CAR STALLED AT NEXT FEW INTERSECTIONS. HAD TO TURN OFF COMPLETELY FOR TRANSMISSION TO RESET AND ENGAGE SEVERAL TIMES. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS CHANGED AT 109318 MILES BECAUSE OF SLIPPAGE. SINCE THEN I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SHIFTER GETTING STUCK IN PARK. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE AT A CHRYSLER DEALER 5 TIMES AND THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I CALLED FOR A TOW WHILE IT WAS STUCK IN PARK TODAY AND THE AAA TOW DRIVER DEMONSTRATED HOW TO GET IT OUT OF PARK. HE STATED THAT ITS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THAT YEAR CHRYSLER. I'M CONFUSED WHY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE PROCEDURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 128238. I WILL TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND DEMONSTRATE THE PROCEDURE FOR UNLOCKING THE SHIFTER, PERHAPS THEY CAN MAKE A REPAIR. *TR
MY DAUGHTER (12YRS.) AND I WERE ON THE FREEWAY/CAR POOL LANE (DOUBLE YELLOW LINES) AND THE CAR STALLED/TURNED OFF COMPLETELY. I TRIED NOT TO PANIC BUT I DAUGHTER DID WHEN THE LIGHTS, ENGINE AND NOT TO MENTION THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY HARD TO TURN. AT THIS TIME I HAD TO CROSS OVER THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE AND CUT OFF A FEW CARS WHO ALL MOST REAR ENDED ME, ALL CARS HONKED AT ME AND MY LITTLE ONE WAS FREAKING OUT. IT TOOK 24 MINUTES TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY BECAUSE IT KEPT STALLING AND WOULDN'T CONTINUE TO STAY ON. THIS IS A VERY UN SAFE SITUATION, I PRAY NO ONE GETS HURT FROM THIS. CAR CONTINUED TO STALL AND TURN OFF AND AT THIS TIME IT'S JUST SITTING BECAUSE OF FUNDS AND JUST FED UP WITH THIS CAR.... NOT MENTION MY PARKING LOCK MECHANISM BROKE LAST MONTH AND MY ENGINE BLOWN DUE TIMINGS CHAIN STRETCHING. 2005 CHRYSLER 300 GETS STUCK IN PARK. I HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AT A COST OF OVER $300. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS. DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL.
AFTER REFUELING, VEHICLE WILL START MOVING AND THEN ENGINE "CHOKES OUT AND CUTS OFF . ACTING AS IF I JUST PUT IN BAD FUEL. I CAN SIT AND IDEAL AND IT WILL RUN JUST FINE, I CAN RACE THE ENGINE AND THERE IS NOT PROBLEM. HOWEVER, WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE, JUST AS IT SEEMS TO BECOMING OUT OF 1ST GEAR IT CHOKES OUT AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. I ACCELERATED TO MERGE ONTO INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, JUST AFTER FILLING THE TANK, THE ENGINE CHOKES OUT AND CUTS OFF AND MY FAMILY WAS ALMOST HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. EACH TIME ENGINE CUTS OFF I LOOSE BRAKE AND STEERING FUNCTION. THIS IS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME NOW, WHEN I FILL THE TANK. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL BUT MANY REPORTS TO CHRYSLER SERVICE.
MY DAUGHTER & I ARE DRIVING MY CAR, A 2005 CHRYSLER 300C WITH THE V8 ENGINE AND EXPERIENCING A STALLING PROBLEM AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. UPON LEAVING THE GAS STATION AND MERGING INTO LOCAL TRAFFIC THE CAR THEN STALLS CAUSING A DRAMATIC LOSS OF SPEED AND LOSS OF CONTROL. FOR MY DAUGHTER SHE WAS LUCKY THAT THERE WAS A DRIVEWAY (FOR ANOTHER GAS STATION) AT THE CORNER SO SHE ROLLED INTO ANOTHER GAS STATION WITHOUT HITTING ANY CARS AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.THE SAME PROBLEM REAPPEARED WHEN NEXT TIME, I LEFT THE GAS STATION AFTER FILLING UP AND THE CAR STALLED AFTER I TRAVELED ABOUT 200 FEET AND HAD JUST MERGED INTO TRAFFIC ON A BUSY LOCAL ROAD. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS ROAD. THE CAR IS NOW STALLING EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK AND I WILL BE TAKING IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER TO GET FIXED. THIS PROBLEM WAS INVESTIGATED BY THE NHTSA (REFERENCE CASE PE3-016) THEY FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY FILLING UP THE CAR WITH HIGHER ETHANOL GAS WHICH WAS CAUSING THE GAS SHUT-OFF FLOAT LOCATED INSIDE THE GAS TANK TO SWELL AND STICK IN THE OPEN POSITION WHICH ALLOWED FUEL TO ENTER A PURGE LINE. CHRYSLER RESPONDED BY EXTENDING FUEL TANK WARRANTIES TO153,817 VEHICLES, NAMELY THE V8 VERSIONS ON THE CHRYSLER 300S, DODGE CHARGERS AND DODGE MAGNUMS FOR THE 2006 MODEL YEAR. I HAVE A CHRYSLER 300C 2005. THE CAR STALLED 4 TIMES ON THE FREEWAY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. IT SEEMS TO BE WHEN I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND I WOULD SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 30-40 MPH AND THEN THE CAR WOULD STALL. FILLED UP GAS TANK AND WAS LEAVING STATION AND CAR STALLED OUT. RESTARTED AND PROCEEDED ONTO SUBURBAN MAIN ARTERY AND AS ACCELERATING FROM TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. VEHICLE BEHIND ME WAS NOT EXPECTING ME TO STOP IN MIDDLE OF ROAD AND CRASHED INTO THE READ OF MY CAR. DAMAGE TO BOTH BUMPER COVERS, BUT NEITHER VEHICLE WAS UNDRIVEABLE AS THE SPEED WAS VERY SLOW. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 300C'S OF THIS YEAR AND IS AVOIDABLE BY FILLING THE TANK TO ONLY 3/4 OR SO. THIS TIME IT WAS FILLED BY THE STATION ATTENDANT TO THE PUMP CLICK SHUT OFF (LIKE YOU'D FILL THE TANK OF A NORMAL CAR). THERE IS A WARRANTY EXTENSION PLAN FOR THE 2006 WITH THIS ISSUE BUT IT SEEMS THAT THE 2005 MODEL IS NOT INCLUDED. THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGER HAS NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEING A PROBLEM. *TR
THE VEHICLE KEEPS STALLING AND IT SEEMS DIRECTLY RELATED TO WHEN I FILL UP THE VEHICLE WITH GAS. I HAVE A 19 GALLON FUEL TANK. EVERY TIME A FILL THE VEHICLE, IT CONTINUES TO STALL (EVEN AT 60 MPH) UNTIL THE GAS STARTS TO EMPTY OUT OF THE TANK. AS THE GAS EMPTIES, IT STALLS LESS AND LESS. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR AT BREDEMANN'S CHEVEROLET LAST TUESDAY, THEY FORGOT TO FILL UP THE TANK SO I TOOK THE CAR BACK TODAY TO GET FILLED UP. THE SALESMAN TOOK A LOOK AT IT AND WE DROVE THE CAR AROUND THE LOT A FEW TIMES AND IT SEEMED OKAY SO I THOUGHT WOW, THAT WAS WEIRD...I THANK THE SALESMAN AND WENT ON MY WAY I GOT A FEW BLOCKS AND THE CAR DIED AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I PURCHASED MY CHRYSLER 300C ON 1/8/2014. I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP WITH AN ALMOST FULL TANK OF GAS AND EXPERIENCED NO PROBLEMS UNTIL THE NEXT FILL UP. THEY TEST DROVE IT AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THE NEXT COUPLE OF TIMES I FILLED UP I USED A PREPAID GAS CARD WHICH DIDN'T TOTALLY FILL UP MY TANK SO I DIDN'T EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS. TODAY I FILLED MY TANK, THIS TIME MY HUSBAND WAS IN THE CAR AND AS SOON AS WE LEFT THE GAS STATION THE CAR STARTED JERKING, LIKE A SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT....FINALLY, I HAD A WITNESS! THE CHRYSLER 2.7 LITER ENGINE ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURES AND CONSUMERS REVIEWS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM, COULD LEAD TO THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS ON THE ROAD CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF. THIS ENGINE IS PRONE TO BREAK DOWN AND SHOULD BE REVIEWED FOR SAFETY REASONS , THANK GOD I WAS NOT KILLED ON THE HIGHWAY I HAD NO ESCAPE, I COULD HAVE BEEN RAMMED FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE OR IF I OR MY FAMILY WERE FOOLISH ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WE COULD HAVE BEEN INSTANTLY KILLED. *TR

ON JANUARY 8, 2014 AT APPROX 2:45 PM I FILLED UP WITH GAS AND CONTINUED HOME 1 BLOCK, AS I ENTERED MY UNDERGROUND PARKING GARAGE MY CAR STALLED, AS I STARTED IT UP, I HEARD LIQUID, I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT IN THE GARAGE TO CHECK IT OUT, HOWEVER IT KEPT STALLING. I CALLED MY MECHANIC AND HE CAME THE NEXT MORNING TO CHECK IT OUT, AND MANAGED TO GET IT TO THE SHOP. IT TOOK 2 DAYS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG, NO CODE CAME UP AS IT WAS CHECKED VIA COMPUTER. IT TURNED OUT THAT THE ROTATOR VALVE ATTACHED TO THE GAS TANK WAS STUCK/BROKEN AND REQUIRED A NEW GAS TANK, THE GAS WENT INTO THE CHARCOAL CANNISTER, ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND 2 NEW FUEL PUMPS AS WELL. I RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND HAVE SEEN HUNDRED IF NOT MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENING TO OTHERS, THIS COST ME $2400.00 JUST FOR GETTING GAS. I ALSO SAW ISSUES REPORTED FOR THE INNER TIE ROD AND THAT WAS CONFIRMED BAD BY MY MECHANIC AS WELL AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CALL CHRYSLER SEVERAL TIMES LEAVING A MESSAGE AND TO DATE HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK. I FEEL THIS WAS NOT SOME SMALL ROUTINE REPAIR BILL AND WITH THE AMOUNTS OF COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, CHRYSLER SHOULD OF MADE THE REPAIRS OR REIMBURSE THE DAMAGES, NUMEROUS YEARS OF THIS MODEL AND SEVERAL OTHER CHRYSLER DODGE MAKES AND MODELS HAVE HAD THE SAME COMPLAINTS-MAYBE A RECALL SHOULD OF TAKEN PLACE.
