TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300C. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED UNTIL AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
FOR SEVERAL WEEKS EVERY TIME I FILLED MY GAS TANK THE CAR STALLED. I WOULD START IT AND IT WOULD STALL AGAIN. SEVERAL TIMES I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED GETTING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY CAR DEAD STOPPED ALSO AT INTERSECTIONS. EVERY TIME I STOPPED THE CAR AT A LIGHT AFTER FILL UP CAR WOULD STOP. I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AS I FEARED I WOULD BE KILLED OR SEVERELY INJURED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER JAN 14, 2014. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL TANK, EVAP CANASTER AND VENT VALVE AT A COST OF $1740.22. I ASKED IF THIS CONDITION WAS UNDER WARRENTY THEY SAID NO. I UNDERSTAND THE WARRANTY HAS BEEN EXTENDED ON THE FUEL TANKS AS PER PE 13-016. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER THEY SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT AN EXTENDED WARRENTY. CHRYSLER IS NOT HONORING THEIR OBLIGATION TO REPAIR THIS VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. I WANT TO BE SURE MY VIN# IS INCLUDED IN THIS WARRENTY AS I WILL SEEK REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS REPAIR. *TR
AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS THE CAR STALLED WHEN EXITING THE GAS STATION IN FRONT OF ONCOMING VEHICLES. WE WERE NEARLY REAR ENDED. THE CAR AGAIN STALLED AT THE NEXT STOP LIGHT, THEN AGAIN WHILE MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY. WE HAD A FULL TUNE UP PERFORMED ON THE CAR THINKING THAT THIS WAS THE CAUSE, HOWEVER THE CAR CONTINUED TO STALL AFTER A FILL UP. WE ARE NOW FORCED TO LIMIT REFUELING THE CAR TO ONLY ONE HALF TANK TO BE SURE THAT THE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS STALLING DOES NOT OCCUR PUTTING OUR FAMILY IN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. THE STALLING OCCURRED AGAIN JUST THIS WEEK AFTER ACCIDENTALLY ALLOWING THE FUEL PUMP TO CLICK OFF PRODUCING A FULL GAS TANK. EVEN KNOWING THAT WE WERE NOW IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION WE WERE FORCED TO DRIVE THE CAR ON PUBLIC STREETS WHERE ONCE AGAIN IT STALLED EXITING THE GAS STATION, AT THE STOP LIGHT AND SHORTLY AFTER TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM THE STOP LIGHT LEAVING OUR FAMILY STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. *TR
A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AFTER FILLING MY CAR UP WITH GAS I WENT TO GET IN LINE AT CAR WASH CAR DIED .. STARTED UP AFTER 4-5 TRIES DROVE HOME RAN FINE. TODAY I FILLED UP AGAIN TOOK OFF WENT TO GET ON FREEWAY MERGED ONTO TRAFFIC CAR DIED AGAIN!! I COASTED ONTO SHOULDER, THANK GOD I DIDN'T GET HIT.. HAD MY TWO MINOR CHILDREN IN CAR.. AFTER 3 TRIES CAR STARTED AGAIN, WENT STRAIGHT HOME.. SCARED TO DRIVE ANYMORE.. TAKING TO DEALER TO BE CHECKED TOMORROW.. HOPE THIS ISSUE GETS FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE SERIOUSLY GETS HURT OR EVEN KILLED!! *TR
I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR! THREE TIMES IN THE LAST 6 WEEKS, RIGHT AFTER I FUEL UP, I LEAVE THE GAS STATION AND MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN/OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH COME ON, THE ENGINE STALLS, I LOSE THE ABILITY TO STEER, AND MY CAR IS "DEAD IN THE WATER". IT IS REALLY FRIGHTENING! IT HAPPENED ONCE WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING, AND TWO MORE TIMES WHEN I WAS DRIVING, BUT EACH TIME IT WAS IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING GAS. LUCKILY, THESE MULTIPLE STALLING INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED AT LOWER SPEEDS, BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE CAR DYING WHILE I AM ON THE FREEWAY, AS IT WOULD SURELY END UP IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. IF OTHER OWNERS OF A 2006 CHRYSLER 300C HEMI HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE, I FEEL THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD RESOLVE THIS ISSUE THROUGH RECALLING THESE VEHICLES FOR REPAIR BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
RIGHT AFTER PULLING AWAY FROM A FILLING STATION THE CAR STALLED, IMMEDIATELY RESTARTED,DROVE OUT ON THE STREET AND STALLED AGAIN BEFORE REACHING THE NEXT SIGNAL LIGHT. RESTARTED KEPT SLIGHTLY MORE PRESSURE ON ACCELERATOR, AND WAS FORTUNATE NOT TO HAVE STOP OR SLOW DOWN IN ORDER TO REACH HOME IT HAS DID THE SAME THING ABOUT A MONTH LATER. THE ONLY WAY I CAN BE SURE OF THE INCIDENT NOT OCCURRING AGAIN IS TO GUESS HOW MANY MILES I HAVE GONE BASED ON CARS? APPROXIMATE MILES PER GAL SINCE YOUR AGENCY HAS COMPLETED YOUR INQUIRY ( NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE13016 ) AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS AGREED TO EXTEND THE FUEL TANK WARRANTY TO " LIFETIME ", HOW DO I OBTAIN AN AUTHORIZATION TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED. I HAVE RECEIVED NO INFORMATION FROM CHRYSLER AS OF THIS DATE ( 3/15/14 ). *TR
I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND EXITED THE CAR. WHEN I RETURN TO ATTEMPT TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK I WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. AFTER RESEARCHING AND SPEAKING WITH MY LOCAL CHRYSLER/DODGE DEALERSHIP AND GETTING MY VEHICLE TAKEN TO THEM IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT LEVER INTERLOCK RETURN SPRING HOOK BROKE. IT WILL NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF THE "PARK" POSITION. ALTHOUGH THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ALREADY ISSUED MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED ALTHOUGH IT IS INCLUDED IN THE YEAR OF THE ISSUED RECALL. I WAS INFORMED BY THE CHRYSLER RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON TO CONTACT NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. *TR
I FILLED UP THE CAR WITH GAS AND AFTER DRIVING ABOUT HALF A MILE THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE CAR STARTED AND STALLED REPEATEDLY FIVE OR SIX TIMES FOR ABOUT FOUR BLOCKS. AT A CERTAIN POINT THE PROBLEM STOPPED AND THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO A NEARBY AUTO SHOP AND THEY FOUND NO ERROR CODES IN THE SYSTEM. AFTER LEAVING THE AUTO SHOP THE CAR CONTINUED TO DRIVE WITHOUT STALLING. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER I FILLED UP WITH GAS AGAIN AND THE PROBLEM REPEATED ITSELF AFTER DRIVING ABOUT HALF A MILE. THE ENGINE STALLED ABOUT FIVE TIMES. IT WAS MORE DIFFICULT TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER THIS TIME BUT IT EVENTUALLY STARTED AND DROVE FINE. *TR
OUR CHRYSLER 300C HAD BEGUN TO STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING WITH MORE THAN 3/4 TANK OF GAS. WE BEGAN TO LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF GAS TO NEVER FILL MORE THAN 3/4 TANK. THIS LASTED FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS. IN DEC, 2013 THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL AT OTHER TIMES. I HAD BETWEEN 1/4 TO 1/2 IN THE TANK WHEN WE WERE DRIVING AT APPROX 45MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL THEN RESTART AT FIRST. THEN IT STALLED ENTIRELY SEVERAL TIMES THAT EVENING AS WE TRIED TO MAKE IT HOME. I HAD MY 2 DAUGHTERS AND 2 GRANDDAUGHTERS WITH ME AT THE TIME. THE NEXT MORNING I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LOCAL DLR, LEE CHRYSLER, WERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STALLED ON ME 3 TIMES WHILE I WAS TRYING TO MAKE IT THE 3 MILES. THE DEALER HAD THE CAR UNTIL 12-16-2013 WHEN THEY ADVISED THAT THE PROPORTIONAL VALVE/PURGE VALE NEEDED REPLACED AND THAT ALL OF THE UPDATES TO THE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE MADE. THE TOTAL OF THIS ATTEMPT TO REPAIR WAS $379.45. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO STALL AGAIN SO I RETURNED IT. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS WITH THEIR COMPUTER HOOKED UP TO IT THEN ADVISED THAT THE PCM NEEDED REPLACED THIS REPAIR COST A TOTAL OF $1,018.61. THE CAR WAS ON EMPTY SO HE OFFERED TO STOP FOR GAS. HE FILLED THE TANK UP THEN PULLED OUT TO 5 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART FOR SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY WRECKER AFTER THE VEHICLE. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR ONE NIGHT AND CALLED US TO PICK UP AND RUN THE GAS OUT TO 1/4TANK. WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD NOT STALL AGAIN BECAUSE THEY HAD DISCONNECTED THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM. WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON A VERY BUSY 7 LANE HWY WITH MY DAUGHTER AND 3 MONTH OLD GRANDDAUGHTER THE CAR CAME TO A DEAD STOP IN 40MPH TRAFFIC. I WAS TERRIFIED BUT WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE CENTER LANE. THEY HAVE NOW CALLED AND ADVISED ANOTHER SENSOR MUST BE REPLACED. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET INJURED OR KILLED IN THIS CAR. *TR
STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING AFTER FILLED UP WITH GAS. *TR
HELLO ALL, I HAVE A CAR THAT HAS A KNOW PROBLEM (PE13-016) MY CAR IS NOW STALLING MORE AND MORE EVERYDAY WHETHER THE TANK IS FULL OR NOT. I HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN AND FEAR TAKING THEM INTO MY CAR AS I LOOSE POWER WHEN IT STALLS AT THE WORST TIMES... THE DEALER SAID THIS VIN ISN'T UNDER THE RE-CALL! ELECTRICAL PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE PURCHASE IN DECEMBER 2005. SOMETIMES POWER WINDOWS WILL NOT GO UP OR DOWN, LIGHTS ON TEMP GAUGES AND DASH HAVE BURNED OUT AND HEATED SEATS OCCASIONALLY GET SUPER HOT. HEADLIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT WHILE DRIVING EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE SWITCH AND ALL THE TROUBLE LIGHTS HAVE COME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. HAVE TAKEN TO MANY DIFFERENT DEALERS AND NONE HAVE FOUND ANY PROBLEMS THEY SAY. *TR
OUR CAR IS CHRYSLER 300C AWD MODEL YEAR 2006. CURRENTLY CAR HAS ABOUT 46000 MILES. RECENTLY WITHOUT ANY WARRING ENGINE STOPS TO WORK. FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 11, 2013 SHORTLY AFTER WE LEFT THE GAS STATION WERE WE FILL UP THE TANK. WE COULD NOT RESTART THE CAR AND TOWED THE CAR HOME PAYING FEE OF $75. NEXT DAY THE CAR STARTED AND WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR. SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 27, 2013 WHILE DRIVING FOR FEW MILES RIGHT AFTER WE FILL UP THE TANK. THE CAR STOPPED WITHOUT WARRING ON MAIN ROAD. LUCKILY, WE WERE NOT IN AN ACCIDENT AND WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DROVE TO SIDE LINE. THE CAR IS NOW IN OUR GARAGE BUT WE ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE FROM FEAR OF BEING IN AN ACCIDENT AS WE DEEM THE CAR UNRELIABLE. WE RESEARCHED ON THE WEB SIDES AND DISCOVERED THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS CAR MODEL AND CARS WITH SIMILAR ENGINE TRAIN HAVE IDENTICAL OR SIMILAR EXPERIENCES AND HAVE FILED FORMAL COMPLAINTS. *TR
LAST MONTH, I FILLED MY 300C WITH MID GRADE GAS, WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE ALWAYS USED SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW IN 2006, AND THEN DIRECTLY ENTERED THE TURNPIKE. TRAVEL SPEED WAS 70 MPH. APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR LATER, EXITED INTO A TURNPIKE PLAZA. THERE IS A LEFT HAND TURN INTO THE PARKING AREA ABOUT 500 FEET AFTER YOU EXIT THE HIGHWAY. AS I SLOWED THEN COASTED AROUND THE TURN, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I COASTED A SHORT DISTANCE UNTIL I STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED AGAIN, AFTER SEVERAL TRIES. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAD EVER HAPPENED. I HAD BOUGHT GAS AND ENTERED THE TURNPIKE AT THAT SAME LOCATION MANY TIMES IN THE PAST. I HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS GETTING HOME. HOWEVER, LAST WEEK, I FILLED UP TANK AND EXITED MY LOCAL GAS STATION, WHICH SITS ON THE CORNER OF A MAIN ROAD AND A SIDE STREET. AS I TURNED TO GET ON THE SIDE ROAD, THE STREET LIGHT TURNED RED, AS I SLOWED TO STOP, THE ENGINE DIED. I GOT THE CAR RESTARTED AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I STATED TO GO AND IT STALLED AGAIN. I GOT IT STARTED DROVE THE 2 MILES HOME AND AS I PULLED INTO MY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT IT STALLED A THIRD TIME. I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE ENGINE. THIS CAR HAS HAD ALL ITS MAINTENANCE PERFORMED AT THE DEALER, INCLUDING OIL CHANGES AND HAS BEEN A GREAT CAR. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE THESE STALLINGS STARTED HAPPENING. *TR
IN JANUARY I FILED A SAFETY COMPLAINT ON THIS WEB SITE REGARDING THE STALLING OF MY CHRYSLER 300C AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK (ODI # 10561779). OVER THE LAST TWO AND A HALF MONTHS THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED, WITH THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID THE PROBLEM WAS TO ONLY FILL THE GAS TANK TO 3/4 FULL. ON 2/24/14 I SAW THE ABC NEWS REPORT THAT STATED "US ENDS PROBE OF CHRYSLER ENGINE STALLING" AND THE ARTICLE STATES THEY INVESTIGATED 1200 COMPLAINTS AND FOUND 299 IN WHICH THE FUEL SYSTEM ALLOWED THE GAS TANK TO BE OVER-FILLED. IT ALSO STATED THAT "CHRYSLER UPDATED THE PART IN NEW CARS AND GUARANTEED IT FOR LIFE IN CARS NOW ON THE ROAD." WHEN MY CHRYSLER DEALER (WHO HAS BEEN TAKING CARE OF MY CHRYSLER SINCE I BOUGHT IT THERE NEW IN 2/2006) WAS CONTACTED, HE STATED THAT ONLY CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS WERE BEING COVERED. HE TOLD ME I COULD CALL CHRYSLER AND SPEAK TO THEM. I CALLED THE 1-800-992-1997 CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE THIS MORNING. I EXPLAINED ABOUT THE STALLING AND THAT I HAD FILED A COMPLAIN BACK IN DECEMBER 2013 REGARDING THE CONSISTENT STALLING WHEN THE TANK IS FILLED. I EXPLAINED MY CHRYSLER DEALER STATED MY CAR WAS NOT ON THEIR LIST, AND TO CALL CHRYSLER. THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE ONLY FIXING CERTAIN CARS AND MINE WAS NOT ONE OF THEM AND THAT I COULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. WHEN I ASKED IF IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE EXACT SAME PART THAT WAS BEING REPLACED, WOULD THEY COVER IT, I WAS INFORMED THEY WOULD NOT. I AM UNSURE WHAT FACTORS GUIDED CHRYSLER ON WHICH CARS TO FIX, BUT IT APPEARS THAT THEY HAVE LEFT OUT AT LEAST MY CAR WHICH HAS EXACTLY THE SAME DESCRIBED PROBLEM I HAVE SEEN ON THE COMPLAINT WEB SITE. *TR
FOR THE 5TH TIME IN 12 MONTHS, MY 2006 CHRYSLER 300C STALLED AFTER FILLING UP AT A GAS STATION, NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I PREVIOUSLY BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC WHO DID A TUNE UP, NEW SPARK PLUGS, AND EVEN REPLACED VALVE LIFTERS TO TRY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE, TO NO AVAIL. I FINALLY DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND SEE THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IT IS RIDICULOUS TO ME THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL, AS IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO STALL WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK WITH GAS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,010.
WHILE DRIVING I RECENTLY HEARD MY CAR MAKING A TICKING NOISE SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT IN TO BE CHECKED & WHILE THERE HAVE MY VEHICLE GET AN EARLY OIL CHANGE. THE NEXT DAY I CALLED TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS MAKING MY CAR TICK WELL TO MY SURPRISE I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY ENGINE & THAT WHILE THEY WERE DOING MY OIL CHANGE THEY SAW THAT MY OIL WAS GREYISH IN COLOR & IT ALSO HAD METAL SHAVINGS IN MY OIL...WHICH MEANS MY ENGINE IS BREAKING DOWN. THEY ADVISED ME TO NOT TO DRIVE HOME ON THE HIGHWAY BUT TO TAKE THE STREETS HOME. HOW COULD THIS BE? MY CAR IS ONLY SEVEN THAT'S RIGHT ONLY 7 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY AROUND 58,503 MILES ON IT (AND BY THE WAY I PURCHASED MY CAR BRAND NEW I'M THE ONLY OWNER) I NOW FIND OUT THAT CHRYSLER ONLY COVERS THEIR VEHICLES FOR 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES OR WHAT EVER COMES 1ST. *TR
I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME FROM ATLANTA AND I STOPPED TO FILL UP IN MACON. AS I DROVE UP THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO I-75 THE CAR STALLED LEAVING ME PARTIALLY ON THE HI-WAY. A SEMI NARROWLY AVOIDED REAR ENDING ME. AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE CAR STARTED AND I DROVE AWAY. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. A MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS IS COMMON ON THIS TYPE OF CAR AND THE ONLY FIX IS A NEW GAS TANK, WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE. *TR
WHEN I COME TO A FULLL STOP , CAR WILL DIE. ALWAYS STARTS UP AGAIN THO. IT IS SCARY. HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. *TR
2006 CHRYSLER 300C STALLS AFTER FILL UP. CAR IS HARD TO START UP AFTER IT STALLS, IT WILL STALL A COUPLE TIMES AGAIN AND THAN IT WILL BE OK UNTIL NEXT FILL UP. CAN NOT GET MORE THAN 1/2 MILE GAS STATION. LUCKY I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM STARTED A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO, WENT TO DEALER, THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. THEY RECOMMENDED TO CLEAN INJECTORS, DID THIS, IT DIDN'T HELP. LAST 3 FILL UP HAVE BEEN THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

IN AUGUST OF 2012 MY VEHICLE HAD AROUND 76,000 MILES AND IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCE MY VEHICLE STALLING OUT AND TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING AT AROUND 30MPHS, I PULLED OVER AND TRIED RESTARTING MY VEHICLE AND NOTICE THERE WAS LOSS OF POWER AND ENGINE WAS BEHAVING ABNORMAL. I TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND THAT'S WHEN I HARD A LOUD METALLIC ENGINE NOISE. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO PUENTE HILLS CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD NO COMPRESSION IN A FEW CYLINDERS, DUE TO THEIR BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP THAT TOLD ME THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH ALL CHRYSLER AND DODGE VEHICLE'S WITH THE 5.7L ENGINES. AFTER DIAGNOSING AND TAKING THE VALVE COVERS OFF THEY FOUND THE VALVE SEATS HAD DROPPED AND BENT THE VALVES. TOTAL COST WAS $3,500. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR DOWN THE STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING; HOWEVER,THE RADIO AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS STAYED ON. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR UP IMMEDIATELY WITH NO HESITATION. THIS HAPPENED ONCE ON 11/18/2013 AND TWICE ON 11/20/2013. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER ILLUMINATED TO INDICATE A PROBLEM ON ANY OF THE 3 OCCASIONS NOR HAVE ANY CODES BEEN PUT OUT. ON 11/21/2013, I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY. PRIOR TO THESE 3 INCIDENCES, I HAD NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM NOR ANY MAJOR PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE, WHICH I PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN JUNE 2005. THIS PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR AFTER REFUELING, MY TANK WAS HALF FULL WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED. THE REPAIR FACILITY HAS HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 7 DAYS NOW AND THE CAR HAS STALLED ON THEM SEVERAL TIMES AS WELL, HOWEVER, THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE FACILITY HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH CHRYSLER TECHNICIANS AND HAS RESEARCHED THE TECHNICAL BULLETINS, WITH NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THE REPAIR FACILITY DETERMINED THAT THE ISSUE SOUNDED RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY EVEN THOUGH THE CAR DIDN'T KICK OUT ANY CODE SO THEY CHECKED THE THROTTLE BODY AND NOTED THAT ITS VOLTAGE WAS OUT OF THE SPECIFICATION RANGE SO THEY REPLACED IT AND UPDATED/RESET THE CAR'S COMPUTER, BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AS THE CAR HAS STALLED SINCE THEY'VE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
WITHIN A MINUTE OR SO OF REFUELING, THE ENGINE STALLED AND, CONSEQUENTLY, THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES FAILED. THE CAR WOULD RE-START WITH LITTLE DIFFICULTY ONLY TO STALL AGAIN VERY SHORTLY THEREAFTER. EVENTUALLY, AFTER PERHAPS 10 MINUTES OF STARTS/STALLS, AND RE-STARTS, OPERATION WOULD RETURN TO NORMAL. AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, I HAD NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO REFUELING. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS SINCE RECURRED WITH EVERY REFUELING (AT LEAST 4 REFUELINGS SO FAR), RESULTING IN NUMEROUS ENGINE STALLS IN TRAFFIC. APART FROM THESE REFUELING-RELATED INCIDENTS THE CAR RUNS PERFECTLY, AND MY LOCAL MECHANIC HAS SAID THAT "THE CAR'S COMPUTER" INDICATES ALL SYSTEMS ARE NORMAL. A GOOGLE SEARCH ON MY PROBLEM, HOWEVER, SUGGESTS THAT THE PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY COMMON IN CHRYSLER 300CS OF A SIMILAR VINTAGE. *TR

MY CAR STALLS FOR NO REASON IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPOT, STOPPED AT A LIGHT, ENTERING OR EXITING THE FREEWAY, WHILE I AM DRIVING ON SURFACE STREETS AND WHEN I AM DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. IF I AM DRIVING ON SURFACE STREETS OR FREEWAY THE CAR DOES NOT STALL BUT MOMENTARILY DIES (FOR A HALF SECOND). MY ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES AND ALL THE GAUGES ON THE DASHBOARD GO TO 0. LATELY IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE. THE FIRST TIME THEY FOUND NO CODES AND COULD NOT DETERMINE THERE WAS AN ISSUE AS THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT. THE SECOND TIME I HAD A ENGINE LIGHT AND THEY FOUND A CODE FOR TCM SENSOR BUT STATED THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID I HAD TOO MUCH TRANSMISSION FLUID THAT CAUSED A SENSOR TO MALFUNCTION, THEY REMOVED THE EXCESS FLUID BUT THE ISSUE HAS STILL PERSISTED. TODAY AGAIN AFTER REFILLING IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING FROM THE GAS STATION, AGAIN, AT LOW SPEED BUT LATER ON THE HIGHWAY, AT ABOUT 55 MILES PER HOUR IT STALLED, THE FIRST TIME IT IS STALLING AT SUCH HIGH SPEED. *TR

I AM FILING THIS INCIDENT BECAUSE FOR THE 2007 MODEL OF THE SAME CAR THERE WAS A RECALL AND FREE REPLACEMENT OF THE COMPUTER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY AN CHRYSLER MAINTENANCE WORKER THAT THE REASON THE 2007 WAS COVERED WAS THAT THE SUB-CONTRACTOR FOR THAT YEAR WAS PARTICIPATING WITH CHRYSLER TO PAY FOR THE RECALL OR PAYING IT THEMSELVES. HOWEVER, THE SUB-CONTRACTOR FOR THE 2006 MODEL WAS NOT. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR END PRODUCT AND SHOULD PAY FOR MY NEW COMPUTER AND INSTALLATION. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO REFUSED TO COMMUNICATE AND OR TAKE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I READ THAT THE ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLIES WERE FAULTY AT THE MANUFACTURING DATE OF THESE VEHICLES YET CHRYSLER WILL DO NOTHING, THERE IS APPARENTLY A NEW KIT AVAILABLE TO REPAIR.. THIS IS NOT A HIGH MILEAGE VEHICLE YET IT HAS THIS LOUD METALLIC TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IMMEDIATELY AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE DROPPED IN ORDER TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,860. I HAD JUST MADE A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO AN ACCESS ROAD GOING APPROXIMATELY 35MPH. I NOTICED MY CAR WAS BUCKING AND SEEMED TO SPUTTER. FIRST THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE ENGINE LIGHT ALONG WITH ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS. ONCE THE LIGHTS WENT OFF, I HAD LOST ALL POWER. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN BUT I MANAGED TO TURN OFF ONTO A SIDE STREET AND GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. THANKFULLY I HAD NOT YET MADE IT ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY, WHICH BY THE WAY WAS DURING 5 O'CLOCK RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC! I SAT THERE FOR A MINUTE AND THEN TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR. IT STARTED UP AND WAS DRIVABLE. IT STILL SPUTTERED SOME ON THE WAY HOME. I AM HOPEFUL I CAN MAKE IT BACK INTO TOWN AND TAKE IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP. MY CAR IS A ONE OWNER CAR THAT MY LATE HUSBAND BOUGHT FOR ME. I LOVE THIS CAR. ALTHOUGH IT IS BEGINNING TO HAVE ISSUES AND I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH MORE MONEY I CAN KEEP PUTTING INTO REPAIRS. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE LATEST ONE WAS REPLACED IN APRIL, 2013. I HAVE HAD THE MODULE FRONT CONTROL & IGNITION SWITCH BOTH REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP @ 83,918 MILES 5/31/2013. I HAVE IT SCHEDULED FOR A TUNE UP AND FUEL INJECTOR TUNE UP IRONICALLY TOMORROW MORNING BEFORE THE STALLING ISSUE HAPPENED. I HAVE FELT THE CAR SPUTTER AND BUCK BEFORE AND I THOUGHT IT WAS DUE FOR A TUNE UP. HOWEVER, NOW I BELIEVE THIS IS ALL TOGETHER A SEPARATE ISSUE. HOPEFULLY CHRYSLER WILL STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND RECALL THESE VEHICLES TO BE REPAIRED AT NO EXPENSE TO THE OWNER. *TR
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS, EVERY TIME I FILL UP WITH GAS, MY CAR DIES SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I GET HOME, WHICH IS ABOUT 5 MILES FROM THE GAS STATION. SOMETIMES IT WILL SPEED UP WITHOUT ME PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR JUST BEFORE IT DIES. IT DIES BEFORE I GET OUT OF THE GAS STATION, SOMETIMES. OTHER TIMES IT DIES AS I PULL TO A STOP AT THE LIGHT 1,000 FEET FROM THE GAS STATION. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS 2 DAYS AGO. I'VE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TWICE FOR THIS, BUT THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE FILL UP BEFORE THIS LAST ONE, I ONLY FILLED THE TANK HALF FULL, AND IT DIDN'T DIE, SO IT MUST BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH FILLING IT ALL THE WAY UP. I DON'T TOP THE TANK OFF, EITHER. *TR
I ALREADY HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS MATTER. I FOUND THAT CHRYSLER HAS AGREED TO REPLACE FUEL TANKS AS A RECALL ON HIS VEHICLE ON FEB.10,2014 , PE13016. RECALL LETTERS TO BE SENT OUT STARTING JAN. 2014. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A LETTER. I CALLED CHRYSLER (1-800-247-9753) THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS RECALL. I QUESTIONED THIS AND THE OPERATOR (EMPLOYER #[XXX] HAD NO ANSWER. I HAVE A CASE # WITH THEM #[XXX]. AND ALTHOUGH THE NHTSA THINKS THIS IS NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM I BEG TO DIFFER. THIS CAR HAS STALLED AFTER REFUELING AT SPEEDS UP TO 55 MPH OR FASTER. THIS IS A $1500 OR MORE REPAIR I WAS TOLD & WOULD LIKE TO HAVE CHRYSLER TAKE CARE OF THIS. AFTER FILLING TANK, THE CAR STALLED ON EXIT FROM GAS STATION. THE CAR STALLED A FEW MILES LATER AFTER STOPPING AND THEN TRYING TO GO. FILLING THE TANK WITH GASOLINE HAS BECOME EXTREMELY SLOW SINCE THEN. 20 TO 30 MINUTES TO FILL THE TANK. MOST RECENTLY ON 3/4/2014, THE CAR STALLED AGAIN WHEN STOPPED AT RED LIGHT. THE STALLING AND SLOW FILL HAVE BEEN CONTINUING SINCE NOVEMBER 2013 AND HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY RECENTLY. THE NHSTA HAS A CASE NUMBER PE13016 WHICH DESCRIBES EXACTLY MY SITUATION AS A DEFECTIVE FUEL TANK VALVE. IN THAT CASE, CHRYSLER HAS AGREED TO EXTENDED WARRANTY ON GAS TANKS FOR 2006 CHRYSLER C CARS IN THE CASE FILE WRITE UP, BUT BOTH THE DEALER AND CUSTOMER SERVICE DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE EXISTENCE OF THE CASE FINDINGS OR THE PROBLEM ITSELF. I AM HOPING THE NHTSA WILL STAND BEHIND THEIR FINDINGS AND SUPPORT THE COMPLETION OF MANUFACTURERS SOLUTION. RIGHT NOW CHRYSLER DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE HONORING ITS SOLUTION. *TR
MY HUSBAND FILLED UP THE TANK ON 110413 (ALREADY HAD 1/4 TANK). I DROVE TO AND FROM WORK, BUT ONCE I BACKED INTO THE YARD THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CRANK AGAIN. AS I REVVED THE ENGINE THE CAR WOULD ACT LIKE IT WOULD CONTINUE RUNNING AFTER THE INITIAL START UP, BUT AS SOON AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR CUT OFF. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP, BUT NO ONE MENTIONED THE ISSUES THAT CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE (2006 300C WITH HEMI). VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AND THE MECHANIC MENTIONED IT MIGHT BE THE ENGINE... OH REALLY!!!!! *TR
