TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD BECOMES STUCK IN PARK INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT TOOK APART THE SHIFTER AND WAS USING THE LEVER TO SHIFT GEARS. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 131,000.
OUR 2006 CHRYSLER 300 SRT8 DIES AFTER FUELING THE GAS TANK TO FULL. IT HAS DIED IN INTERSECTIONS WERE WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT AND IN TURNS CAR DIES, LOCKS UP AND THERE IS NO POWER ANYTHING. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES AND CONTINUOUSLY PAY MONEY TO TURN RUN DIAGNOSTIC, ONLY TO HEAR " WE CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM" I HAVE SPENT $400.00 TO BE TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG.CAR BECOMES VERY HARD TO RESTART. ONCE I GET THE VEHICLE STARTED, AGAIN THE STALLING STARTS, THIS WILL HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE CAR REMAINS ON. AS I DRIVE HOME, I COULD FEEL THE CAR "SPUTTERING" OR HESITATING LIKE IT WANTED TO SHUT DOWN AGAIN. WHEN STARTING CAR IN THE MORNING IT FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO DIE. PLEASE HELP THIS CAR IS MY FAMILY'S MAIN TRANSPORTATION AND I FEAR THAT ONE DAY THIS ISSUE WILL CAUSE A CRASH. I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD AND A BABY ON THE WAY. HELP!!! CAR WOULD START FINE, BUT WOULDN'T COME OUT OF PARK. FOUND OUT THAT THE SIFT LOCKOUT BROKE (PINK PLASTIC PIECE). *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL AND TRACTION CONTROL LAMPS ILLUMINATED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE AND THE BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY DURING THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 300 C STALLS AND JERKS EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP NOW. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES (MIDWAY JEEP AND CHRYSLER, SAN DIEGO), AND THE SERVICE WRITER SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS. I WAS TOLD NOT TO FILL THE CAR UP COMPLETELY AS THIS MIGHT HELP. IT DOES NOT !!!! I ALMOST GOT KILLED LAST WEEK WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED AS I WAS GOING DOWN HILL WITH THE LOSS OF BRAKES AND POWER STEERING....!!!!!!!! I CALLED THE SERVICE WRITER AT MIDWAY JEEP CHRYSLER AND WAS PUT INTO HIS VOICE MAIL. IT IS INTERESTING THAT HE NEVER RETURNED THE CALL ABOUT THE COMPLAINT. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR ACTION TO BE TAKEN ? AN INJURY OR DEATH ? I ALSO HAVE WITNESSES THAT HAVE BEEN IN THE CAR WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED. *TR
AFTER FILLING UP AT A GAS STATION, MY CAR STALLED AS I WAS GETTING INTO TRAFFIC. THIS IS RIDICULOUSLY DANGEROUS. IT STALLED AGAIN A COUPLE MORE TIMES AND THEN IT WAS FINE AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AND AGAIN AFTER REFUELING. SOME PEOPLE ARE SAYING ITS THE EVAP CANISTER. APPARENTLY THERE'S A VALVE THAT GETS STUCK OPEN AND LET'S LIQUID FUEL FLOOD THE ENGINE. IT'S SUPPOSED TO ONLY ALLOW FUEL VAPORS TO GET TO THE ENGINE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 40,199. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A PLASTIC PIECE BROKE AWAY FROM THE SPRING THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE GEAR SHIFTER, CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE SPRING IN THE GEAR SHIFTER CONSOLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SPRING WAS REPLACED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
DUE TO SUBSTANDARD DESIGN, THE MATERIAL USED TO INSURE PROPER GEAR SHIFTING FAILS. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, IT APPEARS TO BE COMMON. THE COST OF REPAIR AND TOWING DOES NOT SEEM FAIR WHEN THE PROBLEM IS SO COMMON. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING TO CAPACITY, THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER DRIVING FOR ONE MILE BECAUSE THE FUEL FLOODED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED SERIOUS CONCERN OVER A POTENTIAL CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
BOUGHT THE CAR USED. AFTER ONLY A WEEK, THE CAR STARTED STALLING AND WOULD DIE AT MOST STOPS. THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED BY DEALER PER EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM!!! IT'S WORSE NOW THAN BEFORE THE TANK WAS REPLACED!! THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CAR TO DRIVE!! THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THESE CASE REPORTED. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIGURE THIS OUT AND MAKE GOOD ON A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. HOW MANY HAVE TO DIE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE?!!!! *TR
SHIFTER WOULD NOT GO OUT OF PARK!(PROBLEM IS A RECALL) HOWEVER, WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE LIST AS A RECALL. THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THIS ISSUE IN FULL. MY VEHICLE IS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300 AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY VEHICLE DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE IN REGARDS TO THIS DEFECT. I DON'T THINK THAT IT IS FAIR FOR SOME VEHICLES WITH THIS RECALL TO RECEIVE FREE REPAIRS AND OTHERS DON'T. CHRYSLER WOULD NOT PAY FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED IN FULL AND I WAS REQUIRED TO PAY $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE. THIS IS BEYOND BELIEF. THIS REPAIR SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IN FULL BY CHRYSLER BECAUSE IT IS A RECALL. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF MY VEHICLE WAS MADE IN A PLANT IN ALABAMA OR NORTH CAROLINA. A RECALL IS A RECALL. ESPECIALLY IF THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO STEP UP, STOP BEING SO RUDE TO CUSTOMERS WHEN THEY CALL IN AND STOP DENYING ISSUES. PEOPLES LIVES DEPEND ON IT. THEN ON TOP OF THAT, THE CSR EXPEDITED MY ISSUE UP TO A MANAGER, THEY DID NOT LIKE THE FACT THAT I CALLED TO CHECK THE STATUS OF THE OUTCOME. THEY KEPT SAYING IT TAKES 24 BUSINESS HOURS. THEY DIDN'T CARE THAT I DIDN'T HAVE A WAY TO WORK AND THEY HANDLED THE SITUATION VERY LIGHTLY WITH NO COMPASSION. AS SOON AS I CAN GET A DIFFERENT VEHICLE, I WILL. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT. THEIR SERVICE SUCKS AND THEY NEVER WANT TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF ANY ISSUES. VERY, VERY, VERY DISSATISFIED CHRYSLER OWNER!!!!!!! *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300C. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER SHIFTING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THE CONTACT STATED A SPRING ATTACHED TO THE SHIFTER BROKE CAUSING IT TO LOCK. THE CONTACT NOTICE A NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. NUMBER 05V460000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) AND CALLED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE FAULTY SHIFTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300C. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT SWERVED TO AVOID AN ANIMAL AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURY TO THE LOWER BACK AND LEFT LEG. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE CAUTIOUSLY. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY INFORMED THE VEHICLE WOULD BE INSPECTED BY JULY 16, 2011. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,200.
AFTER FILLING MY GASOLINE TANK AND DRIVING AWAY THE ENGINE QUIT RUNNING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY. WHILE STILL ROLLING FORWARD I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE ENGINE. I ALWAYS SUCCEEDED IN RESTARTING THE CAR WHILE IT WAS ROLLING FORWARD. HOWEVER, THE STALLING WOULD REPEAT ITSELF TWO TO THREE MORE TIMES BEFORE THE CAR STOPPED DOING THIS. I REPORTED THIS TO MY DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAD NO SOLUTIONS. AFTER MONTHS OF REPEATED EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM I STARTED TO FILL MY TANK ONLY TO ABOUT 3/4TH FULL AND THE STALLING WAS SOLVED. HOWEVER, AFTER HITTING SOME ROUGH ROAD AFTER A 3/4TH FILLING (THE GASOLINE GOT SLOSHED ABOUT, I AM SURE),THE ENGINE STALLED ON ME. ON JUNE 12, 2012 I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP, OVERLAND PARK JEEP, CHRYSLER, DODGE, IN OVERLAND PARK, KS TO START REPLACING GASOLINE TANK PARTS. THEY INSTALLED A 4891427AB DETECTOR-NATURAL VACUUM DETECTI....., A SOLENOID-PROPORTIONAL PURGE AND A CANISTER-VAPOR. (THEIR INVOICE #429537). THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE STALLING PROBLEM. ON MARCH 26, 2013 I FINALLY GAVE UP ON THE PROBLEM AND ASKED OPJCD TO REPLACE THE SADDLE-BAG GASOLINE TANKS. THEIR INVOICE 452851 COVERED THE INSTALLATION OF A 68051891 AA TANK-FUEL, O-RING-FUEL PUMP AND LEVEL UNIT. WITH THREE COMPLETE GASOLINE TANK FILL UP'S I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH STALLING. I AM WRITING TO YOU AFTER READING, IN THIS MORNINGS NEWSPAPER, ABOUT SIMILAR PROBLEMS BEING LOOKED INTO BY YOUR AGENCY AND I WANTED TO REPORT WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND WHAT I DID ABOUT IT. OPJCD SERVICE MAN TOLD ME THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR MY EXPENSES IF A RECALL WAS MADE ON MY CAR. I PAID A TOTAL OF $1,453.90 TO GET MY 2006 CHRYSLER 300C, I HOPE, FIXED. THANK YOU. *TR
THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES. THE AUTOMOBILE NOW HAS 42000 MILES AND THE CHARCOAL FUEL CANISTER HAS BEEN REPLACED. THE ENGINE STALLS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, USUALLY AT LOW SPEEDS AFTER REFUELING. AT TIMES IT WILL STALL WHILE SITTING AT A STOP SIGN OR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT TAKES SEVER ATTEMPTS TO GET THE ENGINE RESTARTED. IN ANY KIND OF TRAFFIC SITUATION IT BECOMES DANGEROUS TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. *TR
CAR SHIFT LEVER WAS STUCK IN PARK. CALLED CHRYSLER DEALER AND WAS TOLD NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO CHRYSLER DEALER WHERE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. FOUND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION K39 ON INTERNET. CALLED CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER AND WAS TOLD THAT RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO MY SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER EVEN THOUGH MY CAR MEETS THE LISTED SPECIFICATIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, SMOKE WAS EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE VENTS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AFTER PULLING OVER, SHE WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE VEHICLE FROM PARK AND BOTH THE TAIL AND BRAKE LIGHTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A PINCHED WIRE IN THE TRUNK WHICH CAUSED THE SHORTAGE. AS A RESULT, THE WIRING HARNESS WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE ALIGNED AND TO HAVE NEW TIRES INSTALLED. A SNAPPING NOISE WAS HEARD ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED ON THE LIFT AND LIFTED INTO THE AIR. THE TRAILING ARM ON THE REAR SUSPENSION SNAPPED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MANUFACTURER BEGAN TO USE A STRONG TYPE OF METAL DURING MODEL YEAR 2009 DUE TO THIS COMMON FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 62,230. UPDATED 09/07/2011 *LN *TR
MOST OF THE TIME, THE ENGINE WILL STALL AT A STOP WITH ALL GAUGES DROPPING TO ZERO. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING DOWN THE ROADWAY. ENGINE DOES NOT START SMOOTHLY. MOST TIMES IT TAKES AT LEAST TWO ATTEMPTS TO START IT. SOMETIMES UPON RESTART THE GAUGES REMAIN AT ZERO. UPON START, ENGINE WILL RUN FOR A BRIEF TIME AND WILL RUN MAYBE 1 BLOCK OR SO BEFORE STALLING AGAIN. IT WILL RUN WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL THE NEXT EPISODE. THERE MAY BE A SPREAD OF 3 TO 4 WEEKS BETWEEN INCIDENTS. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE SPEED JUMPS UP WITHOUT ACCELERATOR INPUT MAKING THE CAR LEAP FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE TO ME. SOMETIMES WHEN THE ENGINE IS RESTARTED AND PUT INTO GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE IMMEDIATELY, BUT AFTER A VERY BRIEF DELAY CAUSING A "JUMP" INTO GEAR WHEN IT DOES ENGAGE. THE ESP BAS LIGHT COMES ON A MAJORITY OF THE TIME THIS HAPPENS. SOMETIMES THE GAUGES ALL DROP TO ZERO WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. ALMOST ALWAYS, I CAN FEEL IN THE RUNNING OF THE ENGINE THAT SOMETHING IS NOT QUITE (ALMOST IMPERCEPTIVE MISSING) RIGHT BEFORE THIS HAPPENS. I TOOK THE CAR TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS HAPPENED AND ASKED THEM TO READ THE CODES. THEY TOLD ME MANY CODES HAD BEEN RECORDED. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. MY CAR IS STUCK IN PARK. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. ITS A CHEAP PIEACE OF PLASTIC THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BEFORE, BUT I WANT TO ADD THIS ONE. *KB

AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENTIRE GEAR BOX WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD TURN FREELY TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT WHEN THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,179.
IN JUNE OF THIS 2011 OUR CHRYSLER 300C JUST STOPPED RUNNING AT A STOP LIGHT. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP AND THE MECHANIC REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING AND ADVISED US WE NEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR TO AN OFFICIAL CHRYSLER DEALER. MEANWHILE THE CAR WOULD START AND APPEARED TO RUN OK SO WE LEFT THE SHOP AND WITHIN A MILE THE CAR STARTED TO SPUTTER AND WE PULLED OVER ON THE ROAD BUT THEN MANAGED TO GET THE CAR BACK HOME. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK AND DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ON NOVEMBER 3, 2011 MY WIFE HAD A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT AND AS SHE PULLED INTO THE DOCTOR PARKING LOT THE CHRYSLER JUST DIED. SHE WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED AND SHE WAS ABLE TO PARK IT. AFTER HER APPOINTMENT SHE WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND DRIVE IT HOME AND IT ALMOST STOPPED AGAIN BEFORE SHE GOT HOME. WE CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY ASKED ME TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR INSPECTION AND I REFUSED, AS I DID NOT WANT THE CAR TO STOP ON ME ON THE FREEWAY. FINALLY THEY AGREED TO HAVE THE CAR PICKED UP AND DELIVERED TO THEIR SHOP AT THEIR EXPENSE. THE CHRYSLER WAS PURCHASED NEW IN DECEMBER OF 2005 AS A 2006 MODEL AND NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 63,000 MILES. WE PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IT HAS HAD ALL THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE BY THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER FROM DAY ONE. BASED ON ALL THE OTHER POSTS ON THE NHTSA SITE ABOUT THE STALLING PROBLEM I HAVE A LOW CONFIDENCE OF GETTING THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED TO OUR SATISFACTION. *TR

AS I ENTERED THE INTERSECTION, I PRESSED DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THERE WERE CARS ALL AROUND ME AS I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES, IT STARTED AND I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE RAN ROUGHLY FOR SEVERAL MORE MINUTES AND ONCE AGAIN SMOOTHED OUT. THE STALLING CAN ALSO HAPPEN DURING RIGHT TURNS, BUT ALWAYS HAPPENS AFTER REFUELING. MY DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE VALVE ON TOP OF THE GAS TANK. WHEN FILLING THE TANK, FUEL LEAKS OVER INTO THE CANNISTER WHICH THEN FLOODS OUT THE ENGINE. BECAUSE THE VALVE AND THE TANK ARE ONE UNIT, THE ENTIRE TANK MUST BE REPLACED. SINCE A REPAIR IS SO EXPENSIVE, I NOW DO NOT FILL MY TANK ABOVE THE 3/4 LEVEL. *TR
