THE CONTACT WAS PUSHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF HIS VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

ALSO, WHILE THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS PLACED IN DRIVE, THE SHIFTER SHIFTED INTO PARK INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS INFORMED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I TURNED ON THE VEHICLE AND AFTER FEW MINUTES THE CAR SHOWS BATTERY MODE ON THE SCREEN. RIGHT AFTER THAT THE VEHICLE SMELLS WITH A STRONG BURN FUME FROM THE ENGINE. THEN THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND WENT DEAD NO ELECTRICAL POWER AT ALL. THANKS GOD I WAS PARKED WHEN ALL THIS HAPPENED. NO ONE WAS ABLE TO JUMP THE CAR WITH ANOTHER BATTERY TO GET IT STARTED.
THE LEATHER WRAP ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS STARTED TO DELAMINATE ON BOTH THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVERS SIDE, DESPITE BEING GARAGED FROM NEW SO IT HAS NOT SAT OUT IN THE SUN. AS FAR AS I CAN JUDGE, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, THE DELAMINATION EXTENDS DOWN TO THE UPPER PART OF THE PAB. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY AFFECT THE PAB DEPLOYMENT SHOULD AN ACCIDENT OCCUR. IF I SOMEHOW MANAGE TO RE-GLUE THE LEATHER COVERING, WILL THAT AFFECT PAB DEPLOYMENT.
"TAKATA RECALL" AIRBAG LIGHT KEEP COMING ON. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
AT 7:30 PM ON THE FDR DRIVE APPROACHING EXIT 17 AT ABOUT 45 MPH. MY CHRYSLER 300 WENT COMPLETELY DEAD WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. NO WARNING THE CAR JUST CAME TO ABRUPT STOP SLIDING FOR ABOUT 10 FEET BEFORE FULLY STOPPING. THE ENGINE WENT DEAD THE LIGHT WENT OFF I COULDN'T STEER NOTHING ON THE CAR WORKS, NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN MY LIFE. THANK GOD IT WAS STILL BRIGHT OUT SO I CAN AND OTHER DRIVER WAS ABLE TO SEE ME TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR OTHERWISE WE COULD OF BEEN DEAD OR A VERY NASTY ACCIDENT. THE NYPD CAME ASK WHAT HAPPEN THEY SAID IT'S THE ALTERNATOR I USED A JUMPER I HAD IN THE BACK TO JUMP IT IT STARTED I EXIT THE HIGHWAY IT STOP DEAD AGAIN NO WARNING ON 125 ST. THE OFFICERS ACTIVATED THE SHIFT LOCK AND HELP ME PUSH IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHERE I PAID $217 TO HAVE IT TOWED TO BROOKLYN. CALLED STAR CHRYSLER SUNDAY EXPLAINING WHAT HAPPEN THEY SAID THEIR SERVICE DEPT CLOSED SUNDAY. CALLED BACK 7 AM MONDAY, THEY WON'T EVEN COME TOW OR SEND A TOW TRUCK. MISS TERRY TELLING ME IT'S MY RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THEM. I PAID ANOTHER $190 TO TOW THE CAR FROM BROOKLYN TO QUEENS VILLAGE NY. GOT THERE THEY INSIST I LEAVE THE CAR AND GO HOME DON'T EVEN WANT TO SAY WHY THE CAR ALMOST KILLED ME AND MY KIDS. TUESDAY 7 AM I CALLED FOR AN UPDATE MISS TERRY SAID WE DIDN'T GET TO LOOK AT IT YESTERDAY WE'LL TRY TO GET IT IN TODAY, IS SHE KIDDING ME. THAT SO IRRESPONSIBLY

NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 17V-435. FOR THE PAST EIGHT MONTHS I HAVE TRIED TO HAVE THIS SERVICE RECALL TAKEN CARE OF. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS HAVE NOT SHIPPED YET. I HAVE MADE MULTIPLE DOCUMENTED PHONE CALLS TO THE RECALL CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE HANDLING THE RECALL FOR ME AND FAILED TO GET THE REPLACEMENT PART. CHRYSLER HAS BEEN DELAYING THE RECALL PARTS SO THAT THE VEHICLE WARRANTIES RUN OUT. ON 4/11/2018 AT 1 PM CHRYSLER ALTERNATOR STARTED SMOKING. ALL THE UNITS IN THE CARS WERE FRIED. WOULD NOT SHUT OFF I HAD NO CONTROL OF ANYTHING. I ALSO HAVE A VIDEO OF WHAT HAPPEN AND GETTING LITTLE HELP FROM CHRYSLER.

17V-435 RECALL. MESSAGE LIGHT SHOWS ON DASH SAYING "BATTERY SAVER MODE". TAKE CAR TO DEALER WHO CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY MSG IS SHOWING. RUNS DIAGNOSTICS AND CANNOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. SAYS DOES NOT HAVE PARTS TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR THAT IS ON THE RECALL. 6 DAYS LATER THE CAR STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BUSY 4 LANE ROAD, DASH LIGHT FLASHING, THEN FLASHING LIGHTS STOP AND CAR IS DEAD, ENGINE AND ALL. CALLED DEALER, NO ANSWER. CALLED AAA. TOW TRUCK TOWED CAR TO NEAREST AUTO REPAIR SHOP. AUTO REPAIR SHOP FOUND A DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY DAMAGE. REPAIR SHOP HAD NO PROBLEM FINDING A REPLACEMENT ALTERNATOR. REPLACEMENT BATTERY NOT AVAILABLE.

HAND FREE PHONE DOESN'T WORK. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT HANDS FREE MODULE INTERNALLY SHORTED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. HAVE READ A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS HAVING SAME PROBLEM.
I DROVE MY CAR IN THE MORNING. IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL WHEN DRIVING HOME. PARKED THE CAR. LATTER GOT IN MY CARTO START IT AND IT MADE A ODD SOUND. I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. LIGHTNING BOLT. ANTI LOCK WER LIT. IVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO START MY CAR SINCE. 3 MONTHS. 2013 CHRYSLER 300 TOURING. IT STARTED READING 2 CODES P0850 NOW ITS READING 7 CODES. NEVER GOT IT TO TURN OVER. ALSO MY BATTERY IS DRAINING.

THERE IS LOUD CLICKING COMING FROM THE DASH BOARD AREA. TEMPERATURE CONTROL FAILING. THERE IS ALSO PROBLEMS WITH THE SUSPENSION ON THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. THE CV JOINTS ARE FAILING AND THE STRUTS ARE FAILING. THE ROCKERARMS IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION ARE ALSO FAILING. THE CLICKING HAPPENS STATIONARY OR WHILE IN MOTION AND THE SUSPENSION POPPING HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVING.
TAILLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. NO BREAKLIGHTS AND NOT TURN SIGNALS. DEALERSHIP HAS NO IDEA FOR THE FAILURE. THERE ARE SEVERAL UNITS WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A STATE TRAFFIC VIOLATION.

I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY THE ALTERNATOR STARTED SMOKING. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THE ALTERNATOR KEPT ON SMOKING AND RIGHT AFTER THAT I TRIED CHECKING FOR ANY MESSAGES ON THE DASH BOARD BUT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD.
I WAS STOP AT THE GAS STATION AWAITING IN LINE AND THE SAFE BATTERY MODE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR HAISITED AND SEVERAL WARNINGS LIGHT CAME ON IT BLINKED ORANGE ON THE DASH. I WAS GIVEN A JUMPSTART AND IT DIDN'T START I JUMPSTARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND IT STARTED. I START TO DRIVE MY CAR AND COULDN'T CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL IT SHAKED VERY HARD AND MY CAR WAS STALLING THE SAFE BATTERY MODE LIGHT ABS BRAKE LIGHT BRAKE FAUILARE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON A FEW OTHER LIGHTS CAN ON THE DASH WAS FLICKERING THE CAR WAS JERKING AND MAKING SOUNDS AND VERY HARD TO CONTROLL I STOP THE CAR AND GOT IT INTO PARK I COULD FEEL THE EXTREME HEAT OFF THE CAR. WHEN TRYING TO STOP THE CAR I ONLY DROVE A FEW FEET AND TURN RIGHT . I HAVE CONTACT CHRYSLER SEVERAL TIMES WITH ONLY TO BE TOLD JUST GET YOU CAR REPAIRS SAVE RECEIPTS AND WE WILL REFUND THE REPAIRS AND YOU SUBMIT YOUR RECEIPT

RECEIVED LETTER ABOUT A RECALL A MONTH OR SO AGO AND SO FAR HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING. GETTING WORRIED I DO A LOT OF DRIVING AND WANT TO MAKE SURE I AM SAFE.

HOWEVER, A FEW WEEKS LATER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, A BURNING ODOR EMITTED AGAIN FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE TOP TO THE ALTERNATOR WAS BURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND HE WILL BE REIMBURSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE NOTIFICATION WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED A CASE ON THE CONTACT'S BEHALF. ON 20170731 MY 2013 CHRYSLER 300S SHOWED BATTERY SAVER INDICATOR ON IGNITION. IT ALSO EMITTED A FUNNY SMELL. I PARKED THE VEHICLE. AAA CAME OUT, AND THE TECHNICIAN CHANGED THE BATTERY. HAD ENTERED A SIDE-STREET OFF BEDFORD ST IN LEXINGTON MA (MA 4/225) AT ABOUT 10 A.M. AND WAS STOPPED, WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND IN DRIVE, BY A LINE OF TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME. WHILE IDLING, THERE WAS A LOUD SOUND AND A JOLT FELT IN THE CAR, BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL IDLING. THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY HAD "AWD SERVICE" AND THEN ANOTHER WORD WHICH I DON'T RECALL. WHEN I WENT TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK, I FOUND THE HANDLE SHIFTER ALREADY SHOWED "P" AND SO DID THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY. WHEN I TRIED TO CHANGE THE SETTING WITH THE HANDLE SHIFTER, PULLING TOWARD "D" DID NOTHING (STILL SHOWED "P") AND PUSHING FORWARD PRODUCED A MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION ALREADY BEING IN THE SELECTED POSITION. TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING IT (WHICH PROCEEDED NORMALLY) AND RETRYING TO CHANGE THE SHIFT POSITION RESULTED IN THE SAME BEHAVIOR (I.E., NO CHANGE TRYING TO MOVE TO "D" AND THE MESSAGE IN THE DISPLAY ABOUT ALREADY BEING IN THE SELECTED POSITION). HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TAKEN ON THE BED OF A TOW TRUCK TO MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER. (AS THE TRANSMISSION APPEARED TO BE IN PARK, THAT ENTAILED DRAGGING THE CAR ONTO THE BED OF THE TOW TRUCK AND THEN "BOUNCING" IT OFF THE BED AT THE DEALER. LAST ADVICE I HAVE BEEN PROVIDED BY THE DEALER (WAS TODAY) IS THAT THEY ARE AWAITING ADVICE BACK FROM CHRYSLER ABOUT A NEW TRANSMISSION. SAME PROBLEM THAT OCCURS WITH KNOWN RECALL P60 - NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000; CHRYSLER 300 WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY IN THE MIDDLE OF A HEAVILY POPULATED CITY 3 LANE ROAD WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED (35-40 MPH) SINCE MY DIGITAL DISPLAY SCREEN AND SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONED. WHILE DRIVING MY CAR CUT OFF COMPLETELY WITH THE ONLY WARING BEING "BATTERY SAVER MODE" THAT OCCURRED LESS THAN 5 MINS PRIOR TO MY CAR SHUTTING OFF. IT APPEARS THE MY ALTERNATOR FAILED CAUSING ENGINE STALL, THUS INCREASING THE RISK OF CRASH, SINCE NO WARNING IS ISSUED. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE COP THAT PULLED UP BEHIND ME, I WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON THAT STREET IN WHICH THE POLICE OFFICER WOULD HAVE BLAMED ME FOR. THIS REPAIR DOESN'T APPLY TO THE CURRENT RECALL FROM 10/8/2014 BECAUSE I HAVE A 180 AMP ALTERNATOR WITH A 3.6L ENGINE, BUT NOT A 160 AMP ALTERNATOR WITH A 3.6L ENGINE.

ALTERNATOR WENT OUT, CAR WENT INTO BATTERY SAVER MODE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. INITIALLY I WAS TOLD THAT THE BATTERY WAS BAD/WEAK. CHANGED IT OUT, AND AFTER 2 MONTHS I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. THERE IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER'S SUPPLIER FOR THESE ALTERNATORS. I HAVE SEEN THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS ISSUE
WAS 4 HOURS FROM HOME. WAS DRIVING ON SIDE ROAD BUT HAD JUST LEFT A HIGHWAY, WHEN IT SOUNDED LIKE I HAD HIT SOMETHING EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS CLEARLY NOTHING IN THE ROAD. LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON. I NO LONGER HAD ANY CONTROL OF THE CAR. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. COULDN'T SWITCH GEARS TO PARK. HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. THEN CAR WOULDN'T TURN OFF AND FILLED WITH SMOKE SMELL. I EXPECTED IT TO CATCH FIRE ANY SECOND. AFTER 5 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO APPROACH CAR AND GET TO TURN OFF (AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS). TURNED OUT TO BE THE ALTERNATOR. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 160 VOLT ALTERNATOR AS THIS APPARENTLY HAPPENED OFTEN, HOWEVER MINE WAS A 180 VOLT ALTERNATOR SO WAS NOT COVERED. SAME ISSUE AS THE 160 BUT NOT COVERED. NOR WAS I AWARE THAT I HAD AN UNSAFE ALTERNATOR IN THE CAR I WAS DRIVING (WITH MY CHILD).
CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL FOR ALL 2011 THROUGH 2014 CHRYSLER 300 MODELS DUE TO AN INTERNAL PARTS FAILURE ON THE ALTERNATOR. ON JUNE 9, 2017 MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE. I RECEIVED A RESERVE POWER ENABLED ERROR MESSAGE AND PROMPTLY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE I HEARD A WHINING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. I ONCE AGAIN TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND OPENED THE HOOD. I THEN NOTICE THE ALTERNATOR WAS ON FIRE WITH SIGNIFICANT SMOKE. AFTER 30 MINUTES OF SEVERE SMOKE AND FLAME FROM THE ALTERNATOR THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER AT ALL. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER WHICH REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY BECAUSE THE ALTERNATOR HAD BURNED UP THE BATTERY ALONG WITH INTERNAL COMPONENT FAILURE ON THE ALTERNATOR. I PAID THE DEALER $ 1,274.09 FOR THE REPAIR. THE DEALER STATEMENT INDICATED INTERNAL FAILURE ON THE ALTERNATOR. 4 WEEKS LATER CHRYSLER ANNOUNCED A RECALL ON THE 2011 THROUGH 2014 CHRYSLER 300 ALTERNATOR FOR "INTERNAL COMPONENT FAILURE COULD CAUSE ALTERNATOR TOTAL FAILURE AND FIRE". CHRYSLER IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE MY VEHICLE UNDER THIS RECALL STATING THAT THE CHRYSLER 300 IS THE ONLY MODEL IMPACTED USING A 160 AMP ALTERNATOR AND THAT MY VEHICLE, A CHRYSLER 300 S MODEL USES A 180 AMP ALTERNATOR AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL. ALL THE WHILE THE WRITE UP IN THE RECALL NOTICE MATCHES THE EXACT WRITE UP FROM THE TECHNICIAN WHO REPAIRED MY VEHICLE AT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP 4 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE RECALL ANNOUNCEMENT.
