TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT ARRIVED HOME AND WAS NOTIFIED BY AN EYEWITNESS, APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MINUTES LATER, THAT SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT OBSERVED MAJOR SMOKE AND FLAMES UNDERNEATH THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE STARTED FROM THE ENGINE AREA. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL PARKED OUTSIDE OF THE OWNER'S HOME. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. IT WAS NOT DETERMINED WHETHER OR NOT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
LOWER SUBFRAME (ENGINE CRADLE) RUST-THROUGH SEPARATION. SUBJECT OF SERVICE BULLETINS, I'M TOLD, BUT NO RECALL? WIFE HEARD LOUD POP WHEN BACKING UP, THEN CAR HANDLING BECAME PROBLEMATIC. MECHANIC RAISED CAR AND POINTED OUT RUST-THROUGH OF SUBFRAME.
I HAVE CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2004. HAVE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF VEHICLE, NO ACCIDENTS. VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHEN DRIVING DOWN ROAD. I HAVE BRAND NEW TIRES . HAD THEM REBALANCED COUPLE OF TIMES . STILL VIBRATING VIOLENTLY. MY MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS EXCEPT THAT ENGINE CRADLE FOR ENGINE IS BADLY ROTTED OUT WITH RUST. I LOOKED ON LINE FOR PROBLEM AND SEE THAT CHRYSLER HAD NOT PROPERLY COATED THE ENGINE CRADLE AND HAS LED TO FREQUENT PROBLEMS AND DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS, DUE THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT OF VEHICLE. THIS IS OF NO FAULT TO OWNER. I DIDNT FEEL SAFE DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT THE MOTOR COULD FALL OUT OF. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR. A CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY THAT THERE SEAT BELT OR AIR BAG MIGHT FAIL AND THEY DEFINITELY SHOUDNT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THERE ENGINE FALLING OUT OF THERE CAR WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A WRECK OR FIRE. ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED OUT TO THE POINT THE ENGINE DROPPED. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON I94WEST OUT OF MILWAUKEE WHEN SHE HEARD A CLUNK. SHE WAS ABLE TO DIVE TO OUR RESTAURANT AND PARK. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN AUTO MECHANIC AND THAT IS WHEN HE TOLD ME THAT IT ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF FUEL WITHIN THREE MINUTES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (SHAVER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 3888 E THOUSAND OAKS BLVD THOUSAND OAKS, CA 91382) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK /PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
A POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT END WHEN TURNING WHILE MAGEING TURNS. IT IS SO LOUD YOU THINK SOMETHING FELL OFF. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPING FOR AT LEAST 4 YEARS I ALWAYS TAKE IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAY THEY CAINT FIND ANYTHING WRONG BUT I KNOW IT IS THE SHOP KEEP COMPUTER RECORDS SO I KNOW THEY WILL HAVE THE TIMES I KEPT RETURING WITH THIS PROBLEM IT NEVER DO IT WHEN I TAKE IT SO THEY SAY THEY CAINT DIGONOSE MY PROBLEM. YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL MAKE THAT LOUD POPPING SOUND BUT WHEN IT DOSE IT YOU WILL BE STARTELD YOU BECAUSE YOU THINK YOUR WHEEL IS OFF. IT ALSO WILL NOT START OCCASIONALY YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN I REPLACE MY BATTERY EVERY YEAR BECAUSE IT WILL KILL YOUR BATTERY ALL THE TIME .I HAVE REPLACED MY GAS PUMPS THEY WENT OUT 5 YEARS AGO
ENGINES STALLS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING THEN SHUTTERS AND CONTINUES TO RUN. HAPPENS 3 TO 4 TIMES DURING SAY A 25 MILE DRIVE . I FEEL IT IS VERY UNSAFE . ALSO STALLS AT IDLE AT STOP SIGN BUT RESTARTS IMMEDIATELY AND RUNS AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED . I GOT ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHERS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM AND SEEN OTHER SIMILAR PROBLEMS WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS SOFTWARE RELATED AND HAD TO GO TO DEALERSHIP TO BE REPROGRAMMED.
HAS TAKEN TO STATE INSPECTION AND THEY SAID THERE'S RUST. DIDN'T THINK OF IT AS A BIG ISSUE UNTIL I READ THE HAZARDS OF RUSTING FRAME ON THE ENGINE COULD DROP THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING. NOW NOT DRIVING IT. IT HAD A TIRE ROD REPAIRED LAST YEAR AND STILL WENT OUT THIS YEAR. IT MIGHT BE DUE TO CORROSION. A LOT OF ELECTRONIC PROBLEMS TOO. FELT LIKE WASTED MY MONEY EVERY YEAR KEEPING THIS VEHICLE IN SHAPE. THIS STATE ALSO LIKES SELLING THESE TYPES OF VEHICLE SO THEY CAN JUICE FOLKS MONEY EVERY YEAR FOR INSPECTIONS AND REPAIR. THEY PUT SALT ON THE GROUND EVERY WINTER THAT EATS UP THE FRAMES OF THE VEHICLE.
ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO I NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR CARPETING WAS GETTING WET EVERY TIME IT RAINED. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY AUTO MECHANIC AND DETERMINED THAT THE SUB FRAME IS CORODED FROM RUST AND THE FLOOR IS ALSO DAMAGED WITH HOLES IN IT ALSO CAUSED BY RUST - THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE CAR COULD NOT BE SALVAGED AND SHOULD BE TAKEN TO THE JUNK YARD SINCE "THE CAR IS A TICKING TIME BOMB AND IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS THE SUB FRAME COULD BRAKE AT ANYTIME CAUSING DEATH OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY" - I DECIDED TO GET A SECOND OPINION SO I CONTACTED AN AUTO BODY SPECIALIST AND WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE FOR $5000 - $6000 TO REPLACE SUBFRAME AND REPAIR THE FLOOR DAMAGE - I THEN CHECKED THE INTERNET TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES AND DISCOVERED THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF CHRYLER PACIFICAS BUILT FROM 2004 TO 2008 THAT ALSO HAVE SUB FRAME AND CRADLE ROT ISSUES THAT CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO DROP OUT OF THE CAR BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO SAFETY RECALLS - IN CONCLUSION, I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THERE ARE SO MANY OF THESE CARS THAT CLEARLY HAVE A MANUFACTURES DEFECT BUT AREN'T BEING RECALLED DUE TO THE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES FOUND AND WHY CHRYSLER HASN'T HAD TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT - FINALLY, PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER THAT PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN FEB 2005 - THE CAR ONLY HAS 64,000 MILES AND IS DRIVEN LOCALLY WITH ONLY 5,000 MILES PUT ON IT EACH YEAR - THE BODY OF THE CAR IS VERY GOOD CONDITION AND IS ALSO VERY WELL MAINTAINED - I HAVE ALL SERVICE RECORDS INCLUDING $4400 WORTH OF WORK DONE IN JUST THE PAST THREE YEARS ALONE INCLUDING NEW TIRES, BRAKES (PADS AND ROTORS), EXHAUST SYSTEM (CATAYTIC CONVERTOR AND MUFFLER) TIE RODS, BATTERY, OIL PAN, HOSES, BELTS AND MORE. PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
ENGINE MOTOR MOUNT, CRADLE ROT, RUSTED, JUST FOUND THIS OUT WHEN TAKING IN FOR A BRAKE CHECK UP, UNREPAIRABLE AND CAN NO LONGER DRIVE, JUST PURCHASED IN DECEMBER 2016.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE THEN THE ACCELERATOR WOULD MAKE A REV NOISE. NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
THE FRONT SUB FRAME ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTED/RUSTED- OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, THE BOLTS ARE NOT HOLDING SECURELY ON MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. IT IS LOOSE THE ENGINE AND THE TRANSMISSION RELY ON THIS CRADLE TO STABULIZE THE PARTS FOR USE OF DRIVING A SAFE VEHICLE
HAD TO HAVE MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACED IN JANUARY 2015. JUST FOUND OUT ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED THRU AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. UNSAFE TO DRIVE. APRIL 2017.
ENGINE CRADLE/FRAME RUSTED THROUGH AND IT COST 1739.85 TO REPLACE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A HARD SHIFT WHEN THE VEHICLE SHIFTED BETWEEN THE GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR INTAKE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED, INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS JUMP STARTED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD BUZZING NOISE AND SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL AND PUSHED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED IN 2014. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 199,046.
I PURCHASED A USED VEHICLE FROM A LOCAL AUTO DEALERSHIP ON JANUARY 30, 2017. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE EVERYDAY FOR ABOUT A WEEK I BEGAN NOTICED THE CAR WOULD SHAKE AND PULL TO THE LEFT EVEN WHILE DRIVING AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS.ON FEBRUARY 23, 2017 I TOOK THE NEWLY PURCHASED CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE MECHANIC ABOUT 15 MINS AFTER I DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF AND HE INFORMED ME THAT MY FRONT ENGINE CRADLE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND IF I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT AT ANY MINUTE. I RUSHED BACK TO THE LOCATION THAT MY VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED AND I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW BAD THE ENGINE CRADLE ACTUALLY WAS. THERE WAS AT LEAST AN INCH GAP INDICATING IT WAS BEGINNING TO SEPARATE FROM THE BODY OF THE CAR. I TOOK PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE AND EMAILED THEM TO THE DEALER THAT SOLD ME THE VEHICLE. I ALSO DID A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH FOR FRONT ENGINE CRADLE DAMAGE IN 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA'S AND CAME ACROSS NUMEROUS CONSUMER COMPLAINTS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH 2004 PACIFICA'S. I ALSO FOUND CHRYSLER PREVIOUSLY ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO RESOLVE DEFECTIVE ENGINE CRADLES FOR OWNERS RESIDING IN SALT BELT STATES AND VEHICLES WITH UNDER 150K MILES. CONFIDENT THAT MY VEHICLE QUALIFIED FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I CONTACTED CHRYSLER DIRECTLY. I WAS INFORMED BY THE CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE THAT THE PACIFICA I CURRENTLY OWN DOES NOT QUALIFY TO RECEIVE REPAIRS UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS BUILT IN JANUARY OF 2004 AND WARRANTY ONLY COVERS FRONT ENGINE CRADLE DAMAGE TO VEHICLES THAT WERE BUILT AFTER FEBRUARY 23, 2004 AND BEFORE MARCH 31, 2004.
EXTENSIVE CORROSION/RUST ON SUB FRAME PLATE HOLDING UP THE ENGINE. DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING BECAUSE IT COULD SNAP AND BREAK AT ANY MOMENT.
I FOUND OUT MY PACIFICA ENGINE CRADDLE IS RUSTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH. CHRYSLER TOLD ME MY CAR WAS UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRENTY BUT IT EXPIRED IN 2014. I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE RUST UNTIL NOW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE UNDERGOING A ROUTINE INSPECTION, THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE AND SUBFRAME WERE ROTTED. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRADLE AND SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,797.
I DROVE TO MY FRIENDS HOUSE, AND 15 MINUTES LATER MY CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES! THE FIRE CHIEF SAID IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT STARTED THE FIRE. MY CAR WAS NOT RUNNING, AND I WAS NOT IN IT.
2 TIMES I HAVE HAD MY RUNNING AND THE DOORS LOCK. I HAD TO CALL A LOCKSMITH. NOW THE LOCKS GO ON AND OFF AND THE HEADLIGHT AND INSIDE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN TURNED OFF? THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN CAR WAS IN PARK BUT ALSO THE LOCKING AND UNLOCKING WHILE DRIVING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHAVER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM AND FIAT (3888 THOUSAND OAKS BLVD, THOUSAND OAKS, CA 91362) TO OBTAIN A QUOTE FOR REPAIR PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WHEN WE PURCHASED THE CAR I NOTICED WHEN I SELECTED THE SEAT SETTING IT SAID IT WAS SET. WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN I SELECTED SEAT ONE AND IT HAD THE ERROR MESSAGES AS IN THE PICTURES.

ROTTED OUT SUB FRAME SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON AND EXPENSIVE FIX DUE TO BEING POORLY BUILT. CAN'T GET OTHER NECESSARY REPAIRS UNTIL SUB FRAME IS REPLACED BECAUSE IF IT IS MOVED IT WILL COMPLETELY CRACK IN HALF!

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 234,000.
SUB FRAME UNDER ENGINE ROTTING, WON'T PASS STATE INSPECTION
EMERGENCY BRAKE RELEASE LEVER KEEPS BRAKING. 3 TIMES FOR ME OVER THE YEARS. I SEE MANY REPLACEMENT PARTS BEING SOLD ON EBAY. I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR 60 YEARS AND NEVER HAD A CAR WHERE THIS HAPPENS. CHECK CHRYSLER RECORDS TO SEE HOW MANY REPLACEMENT RELEASE LEVERS SOLD. IS THIS NORMAL? WHEN BROKEN, CANNOT RELEASE AND POSSIBLY NOT CORRECTLY USE EMERGENCY BRAKE. ALSO THERE IS THIS STEEL ROD AND BROKEN LEVER DANGLING INTO DRIVERS FEET. PROBLEM IS DESIGN OF LEVER. IT HAS TWO THIN SIDES THAT PIVOT ON SOMETHING IN THE CAR. THESE SIDES CANNT TAKE THE FORCE OVER TIME OF CONSTANT AND REASONABLE USE. SEE PICTURES OF BROKEN LEVER AND NEW LEVER. HOW MANY OTHER CHRYSLER MODELS?
ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED OUT. UNSAFE TO DRIVE. MECHANIC QUOTED $4200.00 TO FIX. POSSIBILITY OF ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION FALLING OUT OF CAR.
THE ENGINE CRADLE HAS RUSTED TO A POINT THAT IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. IT'S A GOOD RUNNING CAR WITH ONLY 105000 MILES WITH NOTHING ELSE WRONG.
I WAS SHOCKED THE MECHANIC AT JIFFY LUBE SHOWED ME PICTURES OF MY PACIFICA AFTER CHANGING ENGINE OIL. THE CRADLE TO SUPPORT THE ENGINE ARE TOTALLY RUSTED AND I CAN NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE. I WANT TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT HAPPENS. I FEEL RELIVED I DID NOT GET KILLED WHEN I DIVE TO MINNESOTA TO SEE MY DAUGHTER OFTEN.
ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT (13 JULY 16), SE MICHIGAN HAD SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND STREET FLOODING. I DROVE THROUGH THIS FOR AT LEAST 6 MILES. THE NEXT MORNING AS I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK, I GOT INTO THE CAR, BUCKLED MY SEAT BELT AND PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE. THERE WAS A LOUD "CRUNCHING" NOISE BUT NO MOVEMENT. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, GOT OUT TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING BEHIND THE CAR TO MAKE THAT NOISE BUT THERE WASN'T. I GOT BACK IN THE CAR, BUCKLED UP, PUT THE CAR'S GEAR INTO REVERSE AGAIN. NO MOVEMENT, BUT AN INCREDIBLY LOUD SCREECHY, WHINY NOISE COULD BE HEARD 4 TOWNHOUSES AWAY. I BARELY TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR SHOT BACKWARDS OUT OF THE SPACE, ACROSS THE LOT, UP OVER A CURB, THROUGH A FLOWER BED, TAKING OUT A LARGE, WOODEN SIGN AND STOPPING ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AT ALL. POLICE AND EMTS WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE. I WAS TRANSFERRED BY AMBULANCE TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL. I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE VEHICLE'S SYSTEMS, BUT I WOULD THINK THIS WAS A THROTTLE ISSUE. FOR THE FEW SECONDS THE CAR WAS MOVING IN REVERSE, I WAS STOMPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKES WERE "STIFF" AND THE PEDAL WOULD ONLY GO HALF WAY TO THE FLOORBOARDS. WITNESSES STATED THE CAR SHOT OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE "LIKE A BULLET" AND/OR "LIKE A ROCKET" AND THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO STOP THE CAR AT THAT SPEED.
TOOK PACIFICA INTO THE SERVICE SHOP FOR A ROUTINE CHECK OF THE AIR CONDITIONING NOT WORKING. UPON PUTTING THE CAR ONTO THE CAR RACK, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE SUB FRAME UNDER THE CAR AND UNDER THE ENGINE, WAS SERIOUSLY RUSTED AND HAS A LARGE CRACK. HE ADVISED THAT THE CAR CAN EITHER BE FIXED BY WELDING ANOTHER FRAME FOR $1500 OR TO GET RID OF THE CAR AS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. WE HAVE 2 KIDS AND WITH ALL THE DRIVING AROUND TOWN WE DO, THIS CAR SHOULD BE FIXED BY CHRYSLER GIVEN THE RECENT HISTORY OF ISSUES THAT WERE BROUGHT UP A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO.
TOOK MY PACIFICA IN TO GET HOSE LOOKED AT AND SOME NEW TIRES. WAS CALLED AND TOLD TO COME GET MY CAR AND PARK IT. WAS TOLD THAT ENGINE CRADLE HAD RUST AND ROT AND THAT IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS AND HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS. I DRIVE EVERY DAY AND NEED MY CAR.
IN APRIL 2016 I HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED ON MY CAR, WHILE AT THE REPAIR SHOP THEY NOTICED THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE MOTOR COULD FALL OUT BUT THE REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED BY CHRYSLER. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED, I CONTINUED TO LOOK ONLINE AND FOUND A NUMBER TO CALL FOR RECALLS. I CALLED ON JULY 1ST AND WAS TOLD IT WAS BUILT 3 DAYS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT HE WOULD SEE WHAT HE COULD DO AND WOULD CALL ME BACK. ON JULY 6TH AFTER I MADE NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS I WAS TOLD THEY ARE UNWILLING TO HELP ME. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR BUT WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T TRANSFER CALLS BUT ONE WILL CALL BE BACK. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A PHONE CALL NOR DO I EXPECT ANY HELP FROM THEM. I DO QUESTION HOW THEY CAN PUT A TIME LIMIT ON A WARRANTY WHEN THEY FAILED TO UNDERCOAT MY CAR PROPERLY EVEN IF IT WAS 3 DAYS OUT OF THEIR TIME FRAME. I ALSO DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I WASN'T NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM EVEN IF THEY WILL NO FIX IT AS IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE ERROR CODES AS P401 AND P172. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 03V471000 (FUEL SYSTEM) AND 04V113000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
I HAD THE TRANSMISSION SOLENOID PACK REPLACED ON MAY 8TH 2015. ON JUN 21 2016 THE CAR BECAME ERRATIC AND I HAD TO PULL OVER ON A FREEWAY. AFTER BEING TOLD THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS SOLENOID PACK HAD A HOLE BLOWN THROUGH THE METAL IN ADDITION TO A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CROSS MEMBER CRADLE WAS FRACTURED AND HAD A LARGE HOLE DUE TO CORROSION. WITHOUT THE CROSS MEMBER CRADLE, THE ENGINE WOULD FAIL TO REMAIN IN PLACE AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,694.
WE TOOK OUR VERY WELL MAINTAINED 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA INTO THE MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE SHOCKS (THINKING THAT MIGHT BE THE CLUNCKING NOISE WE HEARD) AND HE CALLED US AND TOLD US THE CAR'S ENGINE FRAME WAS COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT AND THE CAR WAS HORRIBLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND DIDN'T WANT US TO EVEN DRIVE IT HOME. HE TOLD US THE FRAME REPLACEMENT WOULD BE IN THE RANGE OF $4,000 TO $5,000. OUR CAR WAS IN OTHERWISE PERFECT CONDITION AND PERFECTLY MAINTAINED (I HAVE THE RECORDS TO PROVE IT). MY HUSBAND CALLED CHRYSLER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SITUATION AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD TO TAKE A HIKE BY A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP THERE NAMED "LEAH" AND WOULDN'T PUT US IN CONTACT WITH ANY SUPERIORS, ETC. NO NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS HORRIBLE/DEADLY ISSUES WHATSOEVER. I'VE BEEN DRIVING OUR CHILD AROUND IN THIS CAR WITH ALL OF HIS FRIENDS, ON THE HIGHWAYS ALL AROUND CHICAGOLAND. THIS IS A VEHICLE THAT IS PURCHASED BY FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN. HOW IN THE WORLD CAN CHRYSLER THINK IT'S OK TO NOT WARN PEOPLE THEY ARE DRIVING AROUND A TIME BOMB THAT COULD KILL THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY AND POSSIBLE EVERYONE DRIVING AROUND THEM. WE HAD TO RUN OUT AND IMMEDIATELY BUY A NEW VEHICLE WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO SELL THE PACIFICA. THIS IS A TOTAL NIGHTMARE FOR OUR FAMILY. I CAN ONLY BE GRATEFUL SOMETHING MUCH WORSE DIDN'T HAPPEN AND OUR MECHANIC PROBABLY SAVED OUR LIVES. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY!!!!
OUR CAR HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND IS IN OTHERWISE GREAT CONDITION, BUT THE SHOP SAID UNDERCARRIAGE IS RUSTING OUT SO THEY WON'T PASS IT FOR INSPECTION. I DO NOT EVEN HAVE IT PAID OFF SO I DEF. CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER CAR! IT IS SO SAD THAT SO MANY ARE AFFECTED AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. CHRYSLER WAS NEGLIGENT AND SHOULD HAVE TO BE HELD LIABLE.
THE ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED SO THAT THE ENGINE DID NOT FALL OUT OF THE CAR. EVIDENTLY, THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY BUT THAT WAS SUPERSEDED BY ANOTHER TSB INDICATING THAT ONLY PACIFICA'S MANUFACTURED FROM FEB 23, 2004 TO MARCH 31, 2004 ARE COVERED. OUR PACIFICA WAS MANUFACTURED IN APRIL, 2003. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE VEHICLE HAD A VIBRATION AND WHEN I HAD IT CHECKED THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTING THROUGH AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR THE ENGINE WOULD FALL OUT OF THE CAR.
MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF TO THE MAX. A RESENT OBSERVATION MY MECHANIC REVEALED THE FRONT UNDERCARRIAGE IS ROTTED OUT AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. BEING A SINGLE WOMEN THE EXPENSE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DISTURBING. MY VECHICLE HAS 120,000 MILES ON IT, AND OF COURSE IT DOES NOT MEET WARRENTY REQUIREMENTS. I CANNOT BELIEVE CHRYSLER DID NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS BEING THE FACT THAT SO MANY CAR OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. A CAR WITH 120,000 MILES ON IT SHOULD NOT HAVE A RUST PROBLEM LIKE THIS.
MY VEHICLE, WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND IT TURNED IT TO THE OFF POSITION. I SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING, BRAKES AND NEARLY MY MIND! LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND ROLL TO A STOP. I FEEL LUCKY TO HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF THE SITUATION WITH MY LIFE! IF I HAD BEEN ON A BUSIER STREET, GOING AT A FASTER SPEED, I AM CERTAIN THE SITUATION WOULD HAVE LEAD TO DIRE CONSEQUENCES.
I HAD THE SUB FRAME REPLACED DUE TO RUST. LAST WEEK THE SUB FRAME FELL OFF THE CAR, THE ISOLATORS BUSSHINGS FAILED AND PULLED THRU AND THE FRAME DROPPED. THE FRAME WAS REPLACED 17,000 MILES AGO. I PULLED THE INVOICE AND LOOKED AT THE LIST OF PARTS REPLACED THEN, I LOOKED AT THE PARTS SCHEMATIC ON THE CHRYSLER WEB-SITE. IT APPEARS WHEN THE REPAIR WAS DONE THE ISOLATOR. CRADLE, CROSSMEMBER. LOWER REBOUND PLATE, WAS NOT REPLACED. AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE CAR I DO NOT FIND THIS PART. THE FRAME FAILED WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR, SHE WAS DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD AT ABOUT 25 MPH.
FRONT FRAME SEPARATED FROM CHASSIS. WE HAD THE SUB FRAME REPLACED ON JUNE 18TH 2014 AT 151178 MILES NOW ON MAY 17TH 2016 AT 168326 MILES THE SUBFRAME HAS SEPARATED FROM THE BODY OF THE CAR. I AM VERY LUCKY THIS HAPPENED AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED 25 MPH ON MY STREET AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER HOW SOLD US THE CAR AND WHO HAS DONE ALL THE WORK ON IT FROM NEW. I WAS ADVISED THE REPAIR FROM 2014 IS OUR OF WARRANTY. I HAD THE CAR REPAIRED BY A 3RD PARTY AFTER THE DEALER TOLD US THE REPAIR COULD NOT BE DONE. WHEN THE CAR WAS BEING REPAIRED I WAS ADVISED BY THE SHOP THE DEALER REPAIR WAS MISSING KEY PARTS. AFTER LOOKING AT THE REPAIR INVOICE ONE OF THE FIVE PARTS NEED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT LISTED ON THE INVOICE LOWER REBOUND PLATE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SEPARATED FROM THE CRADLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 216,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE PACIFICA BECAME NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. THE ENGINE CRADLE HAS FAILED DUE TO PREMATURE CORROSION OR MATERIAL FAILURE. DUE TO THIS FAILURE, THE BOLTS AND BUSHINGS HOLDING THE REAR OF THE ENGINE CRADLE HAVE FALLEN THRU AND THE REAR OF THE ENGINE CRADLE IS INCHES FROM THE GROUND CAUSING THE ENGINE TO NO LONGER BE SUPPORTED. THIS MAKES THE CAR IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER BECAUSE THE DRIVELINE ANGLE IS CHANGED. ENGINE RESTING ON THE RACK AND PINION DAMAGES THIS DEVICE ALSO. VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVE ABLE. COST ESTIMATE FROM LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER IS OVER 4000$

THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR. THE CONTACT MADE THE MANUFACTURER AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
