WE BOUGHT A 05 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN JULY OF 05. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. 1. REPLACEMENT OF A REAR TIRE BECAUSE OF LOTS OF CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALL. 2. VIBRATION IN THE FRONT LEFT ABOVE THE LEFT WHEEL, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A LOOSE COMPUTER AND IT WAS FIXED. 3. LEFT REAR ROTOR BEGAN WEARING A SIGNIFICANT GROOVE, DEALERSHIP MACHINED BOTH REAR ROTORS. 4. ACCELERATOR BEGAN STICKING ESPECIALLY AFTER CRUISE CONTROL WAS USED. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE AND BOTH TIMES THE STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. PROBLEM HAS SINCE RE-OCCURRED. 5. THE DASH CAP HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF A HUMP IN THE RIGHT SIDE NEAR THE DEFROST VENT AND BECAUSE OF A SAG IN THE CENTER PART OF THE DASH, DEALER REPLACED THE DASH CAP. LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR JAM LACKS SUFFICIENT PAINT, DEALERSHIP NOTED IT AND STATED THAT IT WAS NOT A NECESSITY TO FIX. 6. IN THE TAILGATE SECTION WHEN YOU RAISE THE LIFTGATE THE TRIM MOLDING WAS SAGGING, DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT. 7. CARPET BEHIND THE REAR SEAT WAS LOOSE, DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THAT. 8. LEAKING RED FLUID FROM THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. 9. FROM ABOUT 8,000 MILES THERE HAS BEEN A CLICKING POPPING NOISE FROM THE FRONT WHEELS, IT STARTED WHEN YOU TURNED THE CAR FROM EITHER DIRECTIONS AND PROGRESSED TO CLICKING AND POPPING ANYTIME ALL THE TIME. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED TO FIX IT NUMEROUS TIMES BY REPLACING AXLES HUB BEARINGS, HUB ASSEMBLIES, GASKETS NONE OF WHICH HAS WORKED. AFTER THE 8TH ATTEMPT TO HAVE IT FIXED WE HAVE QUIT DRIVING IT BECAUSE WE FEEL IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WE ARE CURRENTLY PURSUING A LEMON LAW IN OH. *NM
I BOUGHT A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFIC ON JULY 18, AND DROVE IT HOME FROM THE DEALER. THE NEXT DAY, WITH 17 MILES ON IT I DROVE IT TO WORK, A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 72 MILES. RETURNING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY, I SLOWED FROM 65 MPH (USING CRUISE CONTROL) TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ONTO THE TURNPIKE ENTRANCE. THE CAR OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR CUT OFF OR STALLED. I HAD DIFFICULTY CONTOLLLING IT TO A SAFE PLACE AS THE HIGHWAY I WAS EXITING FROM (HWY 82 FROM TAHLEQUAH TO 412) HAS NO SHOULDER. IIMMEDIATELY TRIED TO RESTART IT BUT IT WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING, NO CLICKS, NOISE, ANYTHING. I WALKED ABOUT 1/5 OF A MILE TO A CONVENIENCE STORE TO CALL SOMEONE. AFTER 15 MINUTES I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTED UP. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN. THE NEXT DAY (TODAY) THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY "HAD FOUND A LOOSE WIRE NEAR THE STARTER" THAT MUST HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THIS SOUNDS COMPLETELY WRONG TO ME. WHY WOULD THE CAR STALL AND CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING? I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THE DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM.
I HAVE OWNED A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FOR SEVEN MONTHS. OVER THAT PERIOD, I HAVE DOCUMENTED A TOTAL 6 STALLING EVENTS. THE COMMON TRIGGER SEEMS TO BE DECELERATION WHILE TURNING OR SLIGHTLY TURNING EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT. THE SPEEDS DURING THE STALLING EVENTS HAVE TWICE OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND FOUR TIMES WHILE DECELERATING FROM SPEEDS OF 30 - 45 TO NEAR 0. ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE AT 45 - 50 MPH AND CHANGING LANES TO THE RIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED AFFECTING THE STEERABILITY AND THE CAR RAN OFF THE ROAD STRIKING A HARD OBJECT THAT CAUSED THE FRONT TIRE TO BLOW OUT AND DESTRUCTION OF THE FRONT RIM AND BENDING THE REAR RIM. A POLICE OFFICER WAS DISPATCHED TO THE SCENE OF THIS INCIDENT. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONSULTED TWICE NOW. THE FIRST VISIT TO THE DEALER WAS UNEVENTFUL AFTER A "THOROUGH" CHECKOVER, ENDING WITH A STATEMENAT THAT THERE WAS NO RECORD OF SIMILAR EVENTS AND THUS NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE SECOND VISIT, AFTER THE INCIDENT MENTIONED ABOVE, THE DEALER PUT NEAR 300 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WITHOUT DUPLICATION AND, AGAIN, STATING THAT THERE IS NO SUCH HISTORY OF SIMILAR EVENTS. NOT TO MENTION, THE DEALER PUT THE 300 MILES ON THE DONUT TIRE (BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE TO THE TIRES AND RIMS). THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE DAMAGED RIMS AND TIRES AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD OR WOULD DO. WHEN NOTING THAT MY CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SHATTERRED AND MY CONCERN FOR MY LIFE WAS THE REAL ISSUE, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. AFTER ALL THIS, THE DEALER FAILED TO NOTIFY US OF THE 2004 RECALL FOR THE SAME TYPE OF STALLING EVENT.
2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS STALLED 4 TIMES. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN BROUGHT TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP SIGN, THEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED. I NOTICED THAT EACH TIME THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 1/4 TANK OF GAS OR LESS. THE LAST TWO TIMES IT STALLED I PUT $7 OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE AND THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED 1/2 TANK. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NOT LIKELY AS IT TAKES APPROXIMATELY $50 TO FILL THE TANK. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES THE GAS TANK GAUGE WENT FROM 1/2 TANK TO 1/8 TANK IN THE BLIND OF AN EYE. ALSO, VEHICLE WAS ONLY GETTING APPROXIMATELY 200 MILES FOR A FULL TANK. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER, AT THIS POINT THE DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THAT THEY CANNOT "RECREATE" THE SITUATION AND HAVE A CALL IN TO CHRYSLER TO SEE IF THEY CAN ADVISE FURTHER.
? BATTERY LEAKING? I HAVE RED FLUID DRIPPING FROM UNDER MY FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR (LOOKING AT IT), UNDER WHERE THE BATTERY / BATTERY CASEING IS. IT WAS NOTICED, AS WE PULLED OUT OF THE GARAGE AND FOUND THE RED SPOTS UNDER THE FRONT WHERE THE CAR WAS PARKED. WE POPPED THE HOOD, THE SAME LOOKING RED FLUID IS ALL OVER THE BATTERY, AND LOOKS TO BE AROUUND THE CASING OF THE BATTERY AS WELL. NOT 100% SURE, BUT IS HAS RUINED OUR HOLIDAY, AS THE CAR NOW SITS UNTIL WE CAN GET THIS BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, YET AGAIN (5TH TIME ) IN 5 WEEKS TO BE REPAIRED. I TOOK PHOTOS OF THIS TO KEEP AS A VISUAL DOCUMENT AS WELL, AS WE HAVE HAD OUR CAR IN THE SHOP EVERY WEEK, AT LEAST 1 - 3 DAYS SINCE WE GOT THE CAR ON 5/23/05.
VEHICLE HAS STALLED 3 TIMES WHILE TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE THREE EVENTS RESULTED IN THREE CLOSE CALLS OF NEARLY HITTING OTHER VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS AT THE TIME. VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO DEALER ON 7/7/05 AT 2530 MILES FOR PROBLEM. PROBLEM COULD NOT BE FOUND. VEHICLE HAS STALLED TWO MORE TIMES SINCE; AT 3100 MILES AND AGAIN AT 5800 MILES. WE ARE CURRENTLY WAITING TO SEE IF A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TSB GETS ISSUED BY DCX REGARDING THIS PROBLEM SO THE VEHICLE CAN BE REPAIRED. *JB
2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING. HAVE HAD THE CAR 4 MONTHS. THIS IS OUR THIRD CD/DVD PLAYER. WE HAVE HAD MUSIC CDS BECOME JAMMED TWO TIMES AND THE DEALER HAS HAD TO REPLACE THE UNITS. CURRENTLY NOT USING THE PLAYER FOR MUSIC OR DVDS, TRYING TO AVOID THE PAIN OF DEALING WITH THE DEALERSHIP.
JUNE 26, 2005, MY HUSBAND AND I PURHASED A NEW CHRYSLER 2005 PACIFICA TOURING WITH 31 MILES ON IT. JUNE 28, 2005 THE ENGINE STALLED AFTER MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFICE AND THEN A QUICK RIGHT TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT OF MY EMPLOYER. I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH THE SALESMAN WHO ADVISED THAT THERE IS NO REASON FOR THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND THAT IF IT STALLED AGAIN TO CALL HIM AND HE WOULD MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT LOOK AT IT. JUNE 30, 2005 THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN AFTER TURNING LEFT ACROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFICE AND MAKING A QUICK RIGHT INTO MY EMPLOYER'S PARKING LOT. I AGAIN CALLED THE SALESMAN AND HE MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO LOOK AT IT THE NEXT DAY, JULY 1, 2005. JULY 1, 2005 THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND AN ERROR LOG ENTRY, THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM, THEY HAD ME DRIVE THE CAR IN AN ATTEMPT TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO OTHER THAN TO DOCUMENT THE PROBLEM. MY HUSBAND AND I SELECTED THIS VEHICLE FOR SAFETY REASONS -- IT HAS A FIVE STAR CRASH WORTHINESS RATING, HOWEVER, NOW WE ARE EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT OUR AND OUR SMALL CHILDREN'S SAFETY. A NEW VEHICLE WITH AN UNPREDICTABLE STALLING PROBLEM GREATLY INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH RESULTING IN INJURIES AND/OR DEATH OF ITS OCCUPANTS. THIS HAS US VERY WORRIED!
STALLS DURING HARD TURNS LIKE INTO A PARKING SPACE. *JB
ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ABS SPEED SENSOR OF THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL (PART# 5166544-AA - DESCRIPTION :SENSOR AN 5005005) WAS ON BACKORDER. AFTER WAITING A MONTH LONG, THE MISSING PART CAME TO THE REPAIRING DEALER BUT THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE PART WAS AGAIN ON BACKORDER
MY CAR STALLED WHEN I TURNED LEFT GOING AT 25 MILES PER HOUR, AS RESULTED THE CAR BEHIND ME ALSO TURNING LEFT HIT MY REAR BUMPER WITH LIGHT DAMAGE TO IT.NO INJURED,BUT IT COULD HAD BEEN WORST IF WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY.
DT: CONTACT STATES ABS LIGHT COMES ON THE DASH. A SERVICE DEALER CHECKED IT OUT AND FOUND THAT THE LEFT FRONT ABS BRAKE SENSOR WAS OUT, AND THEY REPAIRED IT ON 6-20-05. NOW THE ABS LIGHT IS BACK ON AND THE SENSOR IS OUT AGAIN. CONTACT DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS PRIOR TO THIS BECAUSE HE HAS THE CAR ONLY 2 MONTHS. *AK
WHEN GOING ANY SPEED OVER 45 TRYING TO BREAK, THERE IS EXTREME SHAKING IN THE FRONT END. IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ROTORS.
DRIVING ALONG RURAL ROAD AT 35 TO 40 MPH, 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA STALLED GOING AROUND A BEND. CAR WAS MANEUVERED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND RESTARTED. CHRYSLER DEALER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM SINCE THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE REPRODUCED. 2004 PACIFICAS WERE RECALLED WITH SAME PROBLEM. SEVERAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED WTIH NHTSA WITH 2005 PACIFICAS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER CORP. CLAIMS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 MODEL EVEN THOUGH 2 COMPLAINTS HAVE FILED WITH NHTSA AND BOTH COMPLAINTANTS STATED THAT THEY HAD BEEN TO THEIR CHRYSLER DEALER FOR SERVICE.
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE TURNING INTO PARKING SPOT AT LOW SPEED. POWER STEERING WAS LOST AT THAT TIME MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER VEHICLE. WHEN VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO PARK, I WAS ABLE RESTART THE VEHICLE AND SAFELY PARK.
WHILE DRIVING AT MEDIUM SPEEDS THE CAR STALLS LOSING ALL ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE COMPONENTS. WHILE DRIVING THERE IS NO WARNING OF THE STALL, CAR DRIVES FINE AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN NO POWER, NO BRAKES, NO ENGINE. THE CAR STALLS WHEN TURNING, A FEW TIMES TURNING LEFT WHILE GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION COMING INCHES AWAY FROM BEING HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES WHILE THE WIFE AND 2 KIDS ARE IN THE CAR. OTHER INSTANCES ON EXIT RAMPS WHILE TURNING COMING INCHES AWAY FROM THE GUARDRAIL AND BEING HIT BY CARS FOLLOWING. TAKEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES, SAME RESPONSE, NO SERVICE CODES, CAN'T REPLICATE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD FROM 2 DEALERS, DON'T BRING THE CAR BACK WITH THIS PROBLEM, WE CAN'T FIX IT OR REPLICATE IT. THIS CAR IS A HAZARD! *JB
BELOW, PLEASE FIND AN EXCERPT OF A COPY OF A LETTER SEND TO THE DEALER AND THE CEO: "5/31/2005 - TO: GENERAL MANAGER, LAKE WYLIE CHRYSLER, 800 GOLD HILL RD., FORT MILL, SC 29715 - RE: CHRYSLER PACIFICA ?LIMITED? 2005 WITH CURRENTLY ~ 6500 MILES - VIN # [XXX] DEAR MADAM OR SIR: I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR FOR WHICH I HAD VISITED YOU SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF LAKE WYLIE CHRYSLER AND FIND MYSELF WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE MAIN CONCERN IS THAT THE CAR STALLED ON ME TWICE AND ONCE WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING WHILE I WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THERE WAS NO PRECURSOR THAT WE CAN IDENTIFY, THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. ALL THREE TIMES, IT HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING SLOW (10 ? 20 MPH) IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. ALL THREE TIMES AT THE SAME SPOT, WHICH IS A SHARP LEFT IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY A SHARP RIGHT. THE ENGINE STALLED JUST AT THE MID POINT GOING INTO THE RIGHT CURVE. POWER LOSS FOR STEERING AND BRAKES IS LIFE ENDANGERING, IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN AT HIGHER SPEEDS. EVEN IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES, WITH OUR NEIGHBORS WALKING DOGS, THE LOSS OF THOSE SYSTEMS MAY TRIGGER A FATAL ACCIDENT! TWICE CHRYSLER CHECKED FOR ERROR CODES AND COULD FIND NONE. THE FIRST TIME THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT I SHOULD NEVER RUN THE TANK DOWN BELOW 1/4, SOMETHING I THINK IS NON-PERSUASIVE. ESPECIALLY AFTER THE THIRD TIME, THE TANK WAS FULL. I DO UNDERSTAND THE CHRYSLER DEALER?S PROBLEM, IN THAT THEY ONLY GO BY THE REPORTED (AND HERE SUPPOSEDLY MISSING) ERROR CODE. HOWEVER, I AM NOT DREAMING AND AS AN ENGINEER MYSELF AND HAVING STUDIES PHYSICS (IN GERMANY), I KNOW THAT YOU CAN ONLY REPORT WHAT YOU LOOK FOR. THIS PROBLEM MAY JUST EVADE THOSE SENSORS. IN ANY CASE, THIS PROBLEM IS SERIOUS AND NEEDS ATTENTION! ..." ... 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA - I JUST PURCHASED A 2005 PACIFICA TOURING WITH THE H PACKAGE (MAN DATE 8/04). I HAVE ENCOUNTERED A "RUMBLE' WHEN HARD BREAKING FROM 60 (AND OVER) DOWN TO ABOUT 30 TO 35, IT MAKES THE STEERING VIBRATE. IT IS CLEARLY IN THE FRONT END AT FIRST I AM THINKING BAD ROTORS.
FREQUENT LOW SPEED STALLING OF ENGINE. *NM
WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND WAS ABOUT TO ENTER THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE, NO FORWARD OR REVERSE. THE 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAD 1,077 MILES ON IT AND WE HAD THE VEHICLE JUST ONE MONTH. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY ADVISED US THAT REAR CARRIER GEAR HAD FAILED IN THE TRANSMISSION DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT (NOT PROPERLY WELDED). PART WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER.
POPPING/CLICKING UPON TURNING, STOPPING, TAKING OFF- HAD CAR JUST 2 DAYS AND HAD TO BRING BACK TO DEALER- READ ALL OF THE SERVICE BULLETINS, AND SAFETY RECALLS, DEFECTS AND COMPLAINTS - FOUND IT TO BE THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT - PTU - SEEMS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH 2005 PACIFICIA'S. DEALER HAD 3 DAYS. INTERNAL SIDE MOLDING ON PSG 2ND DOOR DEFECTIVE / PULLING AWAY FROM FRAME / EXTERIOR BACK BLACK PANELS FADED ALREADY/ WET CARPET ON DRIVERSIDE FLOOR - SMELLS/MILDEW CAR IS NEW!
VEHICLE INSPECTION REVEALED CRADLE WAS RUSTED THROUGH AN IS A ROAD HAZARD.
VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN TO CHRYSLER DEALER SEVERAL TIMES DURING MAY FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (EMITION CONTROLL ISSUES) ON THE DAY OF THIS INCIDENT I HAD JUST PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP. IT HAD BEEN REPAIRED DUE TO IT LEAKING OIL. THE OIL LEAK WAS DUE TO THE TECHNICIAN ACCIDENTALLY TIGHTENING THE VALVE COVER DOWN ON A WIRE DURING ITS LAST TIME IN FOR REPAIRS. I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT TEN MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION TO GET A DRINK. WHEN I EXITED THE GAS STATION MAYBE THREE MINUTES LATER I SAW MY CAR HAD FLAMES COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT OUT USING THE GAS STATIONS PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUT THERE HAD BEEN DAMAGE DONE AS SEVERAL PARTS UNDER THE HOOD HAD MELTED. NO ONE WAS INJURED THANKFULLY BUT IF I HAD NOT STOPPED FOR A DRINK I WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. MILAGE WAS 5646 THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING WHILE PARKED AT THE GAS STATION. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE FIRE WAS DUE TO A BLOWER FAN MODULE SHORT CIRCIUTING.
DT CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WILL COMPLETELY QUIT RUNNING. THE LOCAL SERVICE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY HAD TRIED EVERYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IF THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO PARK IT WILL RESTART. *JB
(1) MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT COLLISION. THE OTHER VEHICLE COLLIDED IN TO THE REAR DIRVERS SIDE DOOR. THE DOOR WAS IMPACTED AT SPEEDS OF OVER 15-20 MPH. (2) THE CONCERN FOR ME IS THAT SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN THE IMPACT. MY FRIENDS CHILD WAS INJURED WITH GLASS CUTS TO THE FACE AND ARM. (3) I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER #13501933.
WHILE DRIVING IN CLEAR BUT CLOUDY CONDITIONS ALL WINDOWS CLOSED, THE MOON ROOF WAS CLOSED WITH ITS SHADE IN THE OPEN POSITION. FOR NO IDENTIFIABLE REASON THE MOON ROOF EXPLODED WITH A LOUD BANG AND SHATTERED, GLASS FELL ONTO US, AND IN THE BACK UNOCUPPIED SEAT. NO WARNING AT ALL. DEALER REPLACE MOON ROOF UNDER WARRANTY.
PACIFICA ENGINE STALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS AT A CRAWL IN TRAFFIC, BUT AT AN INCLINE ONTO A BRIDGE. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THEN PUT IT ON THE GAS PETAL TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR DIED. LIGHTS AND DASH BOARD ARE LIT BUT CAR IS SHUT OFF. CAR RESTARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. SECOND TIME, I WAS PARKING IN A SPOT THAT WAS AGAIN AT AN INCLINE. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND STEPPED ON THE GAS PETAL TO BEGIN DRIVING IN REVERSE, CAR DIED. BOTH TIMES I HAD APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF A TANK OF GAS. I SAW ON WEBSITE THAT PREVIOUS MODELS HAVE HAD SIMILIAR ISSUES, SO DECIDED TO FILE THE COMPLAINT.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE CLEAR, WITH ALL WINDOWS AND SUN ROOF CLOSED, WITHOUT ANY OBSERVED REASON, THE MOON ROOF "EXPLODED"IN A LOUD BANG/POP. GLASS AND GLASS FRAGMENTS (SOME NOT SO BENIGN) RAINED DOWN ONTO MY HAIR, SHIRT, AND PANTS, BUT MOSTLY ON THE UNOCCUPIED REAR SEATS WHERE MY CHILDREN WERE FIVE MINUTES AGO. I STILL HAVE THE BROKEN MOON ROOF.
POPING NOISES AT FRONT END ON DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES, WHILE TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS GOING FORWARD AND BACKING UP. ALSO FILLED UP GAS TANK, "MILEAGE/GUAGE TILL EMPTY" WAS 344, DROVE ONE MILE AND IT WENT TO 243. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AGAIN, THEY ARE WAITING ON A PART "SHAFT" TO REPLACE IT. THEY USUALLY DON'T HAVE OLD PARTS AVAILABLE BECAUSE IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
DT: THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL SOMETIMES WHEN THE CONSUMER DROVE AROUND A CURVE. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED MORE OFTEN WHEN THE CONSUMER MADE A LEFT TURN. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 12 TIMES. THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED AROUND 4-1-05. WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS. *JB THE VEHICLE CAN BE RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT STALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY FOUND NO FAULT CODES STORED IN THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. *NM
2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA: BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE. THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT 3 TIMES. THIS SEEMED UNUSUALLY HIGH IN A 2 YEAR PERIOD.*AK
IN THE 15 MONTHS THAT I HAVE OWNED CHRYSLER PACIFICA THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD HAS COME ON FOUR TIMES. IN THREE OF THESE INSTANCES THE CAR WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING A HIGH RATE OF SPEED OF 65 MPH. THE FOURTH TIME INVOLVED IN-TOWN DRIVING. IN EACH CASE THE LIGHT STAYED ON UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY HAVE CHECKED IT TWICE FOR CODES. HOWEVER, THEY TELL ME THAT NO CODE HAS BEEN RECORDED OR THAT THE SYSTEM HAS ERASED ANY CODE THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN RECORDED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS OR TO FIX IT UNLESS I BRING IT IN WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON. THIS IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DO SINCE IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY, NO-WHERE NEAR THE DEALERSHIP AND NOT AT A TIME WHEN I CAN JUST STOP AND RUN MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, AND WE COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DURING ONE OF THESE PROLONGED TIMES WHEN THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT THE PEOPLE WHO SHOULD KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM CAN'T SEEM TO DO ANYTHING WITHOUT A COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC WHICH THEY CAN'T GET UNLESS THEY CATCH THE PROBLEM AS IT IS OCCURRING. *AK
I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY WHEN MY LOWER BUMPER FELL OFF FOR NO REASON AND LEFT MY VEHICLE BUMPERLESS. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR THE EXPENSES, SAY ITS MY FAUTL. THIS IS A BRANK NEW VEHICLE, I HAD IT SINCE DEC. OF 2004, ALSO I'VE SEEN 3 DIFFERENT PACIFICA'S WITHOUT THE LOWER BUMPER'S ON THE STREET IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. THE PROBLEM IS NOT BEING RESOLVED.
THE LEFT HEADLIGHT WOULD COME ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN. THIS CAUSES POOR VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. DRIVER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN FEB 2005 THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING AROUND 55-70 MPH, NO ACCIDENTS HAVE RESULTED FROM THIS. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO 2 DIFFERENT AUTHORIZED SERVICE STATIONS AND THEY HAVE BALANCED THE TIRES AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. NOW I HAVE A NOTICEABLE SHAKE AND GRINDING WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES AT ANY SPEED. APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED TO INSPECT BRAKES AND FRONT END SHAKE. *NM
I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE ITS PURCHASE DATE. 1/12/05- INITIALLY VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING ~10 MPH AFTER SLIGHT RIGHT CURVE. NO PROBLEM FOUND. 6/9/05- THE 2ND TIME IT OCCURRED WAS ON A HILL , COMING TO A STOP TO TURN RIGHT. NO PROBLEM FOUND. 7/22/05- DURING LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION, STRAIGHTENING WHEEL TO RIGHT STALLED. AFTER SPEAKING WITH CHRYSLER TECHNICIAN, FUEL TANK BELIEVED TO HAVE PROBLEM, REPLACED FUEL PUMP. 2/27/06- STALLED AGAIN- NO PROBLEM FOUND 9/26/06- SENSOR FAILURE OCCURRED ON ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL. 12/12/06- VEHICLE LOST ALL FRONT LIGHTS IN DASH AND WIPERS. -REPLACED BODY CONTROL COMPUTER. 1/16/07 VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON STATE ROUTE AT 45 MPH- NO PROBLEM FOUND. *NM
UPON PARKING THE VEHICLE SURGED/ACCELERATED. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. CONSUMER CONTACTED CHRYSLER. BUT, CHRYSLER WOULD DO NOTHING TO ASSIST THE CONSUMER. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE STALL WITH NO WARNING WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY INSTALLED THE AUTOPILOT. WHEN THEY CHECKED THE AUTOPILOT, THEY STATE IT WAS NOT WORKING. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP. THE PART WAS ORDERED, BUT ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER, THE PART WAS BEING REDESIGNED ,AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED HE IGNORE IT. AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED EMPTY. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THIS WAS PART OF THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEM. THE GAS GAUGE STILL IS INOPERABLE ,AND HE HAS TO CONSTANTLY PUT FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. *AK UPDATED 12/7/2005. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. DURING THE LAST INCIDENT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE TRAVELING BETWEEN 45 AND 50 MPH. THE ONLY OPERABLE PART OF THE VEHICLE DURING THE STALLING WAS THE HEATER AND RADIO. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO PARK THE ENGINE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. UPDATED 03/20/06. *JB
1. 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA RENTED BY ENTERPRISE RENTAL (ODOMETER - 1,000 MILES) 2. DROVE THE RENTAL OFF LOCATION - 1 MILE AWAY SMOKE CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD.*AK 3. THERMOSTAT WENT UP AND CHIME ACTIVATED. 4.WAS AT OUR HOME OFFICE WHERE OUR ASC MASTER CERTIFIED MECHANIC LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD. 5. THE PRESSURE HOSE COMING FROM THE RADIATOR TO THE RECYLER BOTTLE WAS NOT IN TACT. NOT CLAMPED. SECURED WITH A METAL CLAMP AND FUSED THE SYSTEM TO REGAIN FLUID. WENT BACK TO ENTERPRISE AND NOTED THAT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE BAD THE NORMAL PRUDENT PERSON WERE TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE. AFTER FURHTER REVIEW THEY HAD ANOTHER NEEW PACIFICA ON THIER LOT. THEY- THE MANUFACTURER ARE USING PLASTIC CLIPS ON A HOSE THAT IS UNDER EXTREME HEAT AND PRESSURE. THIS SHOULD BE WATCHED AS A TSB OR IF OTHER OCCURANCE HAVE ALREADY OCCURRED.
WHILE DRIVING REAR WINDOW AND THE SUN ROOF OPENED, A LOUD WINDING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR AND FRONT AREAS. CONSUMER DROVE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT A SOLUTION HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THIS TIME. *AK
I NOTICED A STRANGE ODOR WHEN I DROVE THE CAR FROM THE LOT. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE NEW THE LEATHER SMELL, BUT LATER FOUND OUT THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CAR WAS LEAKING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE LEAK FOUR (4) TIME. IT STILL IS NOT FIXED. NOW OTHER THINGS ARE STARTING TO HAPPEN, THE PASSENGERS POWER SEAT NO LONGER RECLINES, THE RADIO WILL JUST QUIT WORKING AND SO DOES THE A/C. *JB
