WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC THAT THE SUB FRAME(ENGINE MOUNT CHASSIS) WAS RUSTED AND WOULD BE DANGEROUS TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR. SAID THE SUB FRAME NEEDS TO BE REPLACED VERY SOON. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I HAVE COME TO UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL. ALSO SEEMS CHRYSLER IS NOT OWNING UP TO THE LARGE AMOUNT OF VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THE NHTSA IS ALSO GUILTY OF SOME INACTION IN TRYING TO GET CHRYSLER TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF ON A RECALL FOR THESE VEHICLES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT SUB FRAME WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE. KNOWN ISSUE BY MANY PACIFICA OWNERS. ALOT OF OWNERS COMPLAINING VIA INTERNET. AM SURE YOU HAVE RECEIVED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS RUSTED FRAME ISSUE WHERE THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT WHILE DRIVING AND KILLING PASSENGERS. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE ISSUES AND NEVER NOTIFIED OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE AND THE AFOREMENTIONED PROBLEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE OVER HEATED AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WARNING ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WAS VIBRATING AND MAKING NOISES, HAD IT CHECKED BY A MECHANIC. I WAS TOLD MY ENGINE WAS ABOUT TO FALL OUT OF MY CAR DUE TO RUSTING. THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS WAS MORE THAN I WANTED TO SPEND HOWEVER THE MECHANIC SAID IT WASN'T SAFE TO EVEN DRIVE OFF THE LOT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD TO TRADE IT IN. SO I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND HAD I WAITED A DAY LATER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT MYSELF AND MY KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. CHRYSLER DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOT PROPERLY COATING THE ENGINE CRADLES AND SOME OF US LIVE IN THE SNOWBELT!!! *TR
ENGINE CRADLE RUSTING OUT ON PASSENGER SIDE. NO HELP FROM DEALER OR CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE. THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME. SO MANY OF THESE VEHICLES ARE STILL ON THE ROAD AND PEOPLE DO NOT REALIZE THEY ARE DRIVING A DEATH TRAP. CANT IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN AT 70 MPH AND THE ENGINE FALLS OUT. *TR
MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFIC HAS A FRAME THAT IS RUSTING OUT THE MOTOR HOLDER . JUST WONDERING IF YOU CAN HELP ME ON HOW TO GET IT TAKE CARE OF BY CHRYSLER ? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, ONE OF THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLAMP FLICKERED FOR A FEW DAYS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED A HEADLIGHT MALFUNCTION. AS A RESULT, THE FUSE BOX, THE HEADLAMP WIRING, AND THE BULB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V06600 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING: HEADLIGHTS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143, 000.
SUBFRAME (ENGINE CRADLE?) IS RUSTING. MY MECHANIC POINTED THIS OUT WHEN I WAS HAVING MY OIL CHANGED. IT IS NOT VISIBLE UNLESS YOU CRAWL UNDER THE CAR OR LIFT IT UP IN A SHOP. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON THE WEB, I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL AND THAT IN SOME INSTANCES CHRYSLER HAS COVERED THE COSTS OF HAVING THIS FIXED.
AS I SAT AT A STOP LIGHT WAITING FOR IT TO TURN GREEN, THE SPEEDOMETER JUMPED UP TO 20 MPH AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. I ALMOST REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE VEHICLES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND HAD STATED ON SINCE THAN. I HAD THE CODE SCANNED AND IT CAME BACK AS CODES P0700 AND P0740. I SEARCHED FOR THE MEANING OF THOSE CODES AND THEY PRETTY MUCH SAID IT WAS THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) WHICH HAD BEEN RECALLED ON SEVERAL CHRYSLER PACIFICA'S. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT WAS NOT A RECALL ON MY VIN SPECIFIC VEHICLE. I OF COURSE ASKED HOW IT WAS NOT RECALLED ON MY VEHICLE WHEN EVERYTHING I HAVE READ SAYS IT WAS FOR ALL 2005-2006 PACIFICA'S. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER REPORTS OF THIS SAME INCIDENT HAPPENING WITH OTHER PACIFICA OWNERS AS WELL. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE TCM ON MY VEHICLE RECALLED AND REPLACED JUST AS THOUSANDS OF OTHERS WERE. IF I HAD BEEN AND CLOSER TO ANY OF THE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME THE SEVERAL TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED THEN I WOULD HAVE REAR ENDED SEVERAL PEOPLE BY NOW AND NONE OF THE ACCIDENTS WOULD HAVE BEEN MY FAULT. THESE INCIDENTS HAPPEN EVERY TIME I AM DRIVING IN TOWN. IT NEVER LUNES FORWARD AS FAR AS I AM AWARE, ON THE FREEWAY. PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT DOES CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR

WHILE AN AUTHORIZED MECHANIC WAS PERFORMING A STATE INSPECTION ON THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE AND FRONT SUBFRAME WERE CORRODED WITH HOLES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
WHILE DRIVING FROM CANADA (MONTREAL) TO LARGO (FLORIDA) THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2005 STARTED TO LOOSE POWER AND SPEED (HIGHWAY 75 NEAR BROOKSFIELD, FL). I COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR ON THE SHOULDER AS A TEMPORARY CEMENT WALL WAS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE FOR CONSTRUCTION. A FEW SECOND LATER, AS THE CONSTRUCTION SITE WAS OVER I PULLED MY CAR ON THE SHOULDER AND 3 CARS HAD ALREADY STOPPED (THEY SAW THE FIRE UNDERNEATH MY CAR)AND THE DRIVERS WAVED AT ME TO STOP. I TRIED TO STOP ON THE SHOULDER BUT I DIDN'T HAVE ANY BRAKES ON THE CAR. FORTUNATELY, THE HIGHWAY WAS GOING UP SO THE CAR STOPPED BY ITSELF AND STARTED GOING BACKWARDS. I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE ABLE TO STOP IN THE GUARD RAIL AND THEN FIRE WAS COMING OUT FROM THE MOTOR (OUT OF THE FENDERS). THE 3 PERSON MENTIONED TO ME THAT THE FIRE WAS COMING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE MOTOR WHILE DRIVING SO THAT WAS THE REASON THEY STOPPED TO INDICATE THE FIRE. MY MOTHER IN LAW (80 YEARS OLD WITH PACE MAKER) AND MYSELF HAD ONLY A FEW SECONDS TO EXIT THE CAR BECAUSE BLACK SMOKE WAS ALREADY IN THE CAR. I LOST EVERYTHING IN THE FIRE (MEDICATION, CLOTHING, PASSPORT, WALLET, ETC...) AS MY MOTHER IN LAW LIVES IN FLORIDA, I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT FOR HER AND FOR MYSELF ALSO. I AM A HEALTH AND SAFETY COORDINATOR AND I WISH THAT THIS SITUATION NEVER COMES BACK IN THE FUTURE. FORTUNATELY, I AM STILL ALIVE TO EXPLAIN THIS INCIDENT. *TR
WENT TO THE DEALER FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SUBFRAME ON THE VEHICLE IS RUSTED OUT AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. APPARENTLY THIS IS QUITE COMMON WITH THESE VEHICLES. THE DEALER I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO ACTUALLY GAVE ME PICTURES OF THE SUBFRAME AND IT SHOWED CRACKS AND HOLES IN THE SUBFRAME. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THIS. I DO NOT MIND PAYING FOR MAINTENANCE, BUT I BELIEVE THIS GOES FAR BEYOND MAINTENANCE. *TR
ENGINE CRADLE/FRAME ASSEMBLY IS SEVERLEY RUSTED. THIS WAS DETECTED BY CONRAD'S LOCATED IN GREEN, OHIO 10/23/14 WHEN SERVICING THE VEHICLE. IT IS VERIFIED BY DUANNE'S AUTOMOTIVE CENTER, NORTH CANTON, OHIO 10/25/14. CHRYSLER NEVER SENT ME A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR THE RUST CONDITION. IT WAS A RECALL ITEM. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT IS COSTING ME IN EXCESS OF $1200.00 (PARTS AND LABOR TO INSTALL USED CRADLE ASSEMBLY - NEW IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE) TO REPLACE. *TR
UPON TAKING CAR IN FOR ROUTINE NYS INSPECTION WAS INFORMED OF SEVERE ENGINE CRADLE ROT. ESTIMATED REPAIR $4000. CAR HAS LESS THAN 114K MILES AND IS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD. I CANT AFFORD TO REPAIR AND EVEN THOUGH I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO HELP ME. CHRYSLER ADMITS ISSUE WHEN THEY OFFERED EXTENSION OF WARRANTY ON 2004 AND 2005 MODELS BUT REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL OR FIX THE PROBLEM AT THEIR COST. OWNERS ARE STUCK WITH A COSTLY REPAIR OPTION . CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ADDRESSING THIS SAFETY ISSUE . *TR
UNUSUAL RUSTING OF THE FRAME AND UNDERBODY OF THE CAR. *TR
WHILE HAVING MY OIL CHANGED MY MECHANIC CALLED ME OVER TO SHOW ME THE RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH MANY CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2004-2005. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL BUT ONLY FOR VEHICLES BUILT FROM FEB 2004-MARCH 2004. IF SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM THEN WHY IS IT SUCH A SMALL TIME FRAME? THE SAME ISSUES STILL APPLY TO THE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED OUTSIDE THAT SMALL WINDOW. IS THE SAFETY OF THE CONSUMERS WHOSE VEHICLES WERE MANUFACTURED DURING THAT MONTH TIME FRAME MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE EVIDENCE OF THE SAME RUSTING OF THE ENGINE CRADLE? WHEN I PURCHASED THIS CAR, I DID SO FOR SAFETY AND QUALITY AND NOW FEEL LIKE BOTH ARE LACKING. *TR
AFTER GETTING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE (SUBFRAME) HAD A HOLE IN IT ABOUT THE SIZE OF A GRAPEFRUIT. IT WAS RUSTED THROUGH. THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR DRIVES TERRIBLY. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
BROUGHT TO GARAGE DUE TO CONSTANT STALLING. MECHANIC ADVISED SUBFRAME WAS ROTTING OUT. CAR ONLY HAS 83,600 MILES. THIS DEFINITELY IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR - DEFECTIVE MATERIALS. *TR
RUST THROUGH OF ENGINE CRADLE AT VARIOUS SPOTS ON ENGINE CRADLE. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THE CAR HAD 92,080 MILES. CONTACTED CHRYSLER/FCA VIA EMAIL. CHRYSLER/FCA SAYS MY PACIFICA DOES NOT FIT THE NARROWLY DEFINED MANUFACTURE DATE OF 02/28/2004 TO 03/31/2004, EVEN THOUGH CHRYSLER FORM LETTER CSC-10045080-7364 MAKES NO MENTION OF THE NARROWLY DEFINED MANUFACTURE DATE!. MY PACIFICA WAS PURCHASED ON 1/26/2005 AND THEREFORE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE PER CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE. MY LOCAL FCA DEALER GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF ABOUT $ 2600 TO REPLACE. THIS PROBLEM WAS NOTICED DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE RECENTLY. I REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO CHRYSLER BACK ON OCTOBER 2014 EMAIL CASE #3052329, REFERENCE NUMBER 25794408, AND THEY STATE NOT COVERED,THAT MY CAR WAS APPARENTLY BUILT ON AUGUST 2, 2004 PER CHRYSLER EMAIL RESPONSE? CHRYSLER LETTER CSC-10045080-7365 REGARDING THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE PROBLEM DOES NOT STIPULATE A SPECIFIC 6 WEEK PERIOD. UNABLE TO GET ANY ASSISTANCE FROM CHRYSLER/FCA I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THIS UNSAFE CAR. BROUGHT TO MECHANIC FOR OIL CHANGE, TIRE ROTATION, AND GENERAL MAINTENANCE AND WAS INFORMED AGAIN THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTING THROUGH AND NOW THE MOTOR MOUNTS. CAR NOW HAS ONLY 95,544 MILES. CONTACTED THEM PRIOR TO EXPIRATION OF WARRANTY AND PUSHED OFF AND OFF.
I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY TWO DIFFERENT AUTO MECHANICS ABOUT SUBSTANTIAL RUST ON THE SUB-FRAME AT THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. FOR A 9 YEAR OLD VEHICLE THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
THE ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE IN ROTTEN, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE MOTOR MOUNT AND LIFT POINTS ARE COMPLETELY ROTTED AWAY. I WAS TOLD IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE BUT I STILL OWE 7K. *TR
HAD MY CAR IN TO BE SERVICED AND THEY TOLD ME MY ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED OUT AND THAT IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2004/2005 MODEL YEAR. SO I BROUGHT IT T THE DEALER AND THEY SAID MY CAR WASN'T COVERED EVEN THOUGH THE LETTER I WAS GIVEN A COPY OF DIDN'T SPECIFY ANYTHING BUT THE 2004/2005 MODEL YEAR. SO I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE WASN'T IN THE DATES LISTED TO BE FIXED YET I HAVE THE PROBLEM THEY ALL ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. SO I WAS ABLE TO GET A MANAGER TO LOOK AT THE ISSUE AND THEY NEVER CALLED BACK. SO I CALLED THEM BACK LAST WEEK BECAUSE WE ARE AT THE DEADLINE OF THE OF THE RECALL AND THE ARE REFUSING THE CLAIM. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE AND HAVE A CAR THAT'S READY TO BREAK ANY DAY. PLEASE HELP ME GET MY CAR FIXED AND KEEP MY FAMILY SAFE.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NOT TO LONG AGO. THEN WHEN HAVING MY BRAKES DONE, MY MECHANIC POINTED OUT THE HUGE RUST HOLES IN THE ENGINE FRAME OF MY CAR. HE SAID IT WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE ENGINE MIGHT FALL OUT. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER BUT THE SAID THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION AS THE FRONT SUB-FRAME THAT HOLDS UP THE ENGINE HAS MAJOR CORROSION AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN. CHECKING THE INTERNET CONFIRMS THAT MY CARS CONDITION IS NOT UNIQUE. CHRYSLER DOES HAVE A RECALL OUT FOR THIS MODEL AND THIS CONDITION BUT IT IS ONLY FOR VEHICLES IN A SIX WEEK MANUFACTURING WINDOW AND MY VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY. IT SHOULD. COST OF REPAIR I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER IS $4,100 PLUS. PART ALONE IS $3,870. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BY YOUR ORGANIZATION PLEASE. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE TOYOTA TUNDRA PICK-UP FRAME ISSUE. I HAVE JUST PERFORMED ROUTINE (10/03/20014) MAINTENANCE ON MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE MECHANIC CALLED TO INFORM ME OF SIGNIFICANT CORROSION PROBLEM WITH THE CROSS MEMBER (CRADLE) THAT SUPPORTS THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERING. HIS VISUAL INSPECTION, AS WELL AS MINE, SHOWED MORE THEN 75% OF THE PASSENGER SIDE CRADLE RUSTED AWAY. AN OPEN CASE # 25736224 HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED BY CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SUPPORT. MY PACIFICA WAS PRODUCED SEPTEMBER 30, 2004 WHICH IS OUTSIDE OF THE ASSEMBLY DATES ESTABLISHED BY CHRYSLER FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE. FAILURE OF THE CROSS MEMBER (CRADLE) WOULD CAUSE LOSS OF STEERING, ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE, AND SEVERED BRAKE LINES. BECAUSE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY CHRYSLER CORPORATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SERVICING THE VEHICLE, THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE CRADLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
WENT FOR ROUTINE STATE INSPECTION AND WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE SUBFRAME HAS SIGNIFICANT RUST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE (ENGINE CRADLE). THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 125,000 MILES ON IT AND THE SUBFRAME SHOULD NOT BE RUSTED OUT. HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER AND ALTHOUGH THEY ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IN 2010 WHICH INCLUDED MY VEHICLE THEY HAVE SINCE REFINED THIS TO VEHICLES MADE IN A 6 WEEK WINDOW IN 2004. MY VEHICLE WAS MADE IN JUNE 2004 JUST A FEW WEEKS OUTSIDE THEIR WINDOW. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A BIGGER PROBLEM AS THERE ARE TONS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS - RUST ON THE SUBFRAME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE (SEE FULL LIST OF COMPLAINTS AT NHTSA AND ALL OVER THE WEB). I HAVE MAINTAINED THIS VEHICLE EXTREMELY WELL. NO VISIBLE RUST ON BODY, VEHICLE APPEARS TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE AND PASSENGER SIDE SUB FRAME IS NEARLY RUSTED IN HALF. I WAS SHOCKED BECAUSE IT IS NOT MY PRIMARY WINTER VEHICLE, AND SALT EXPOSURE IS MINIMAL. THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF DRIVE TRAIN FALLING OUT WHEN THE ENGINE CRADLE FAILS TO SUPPORT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. ALSO, THE CAR COULD BREAK IN HALF IF THE SUB FRAME FAILS. HOW CAN A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED, LOOKS AND DRIVES LIKE NEW, BE UNSAFE BECAUSE IT ISN'T STRUCTURALLY SOUND. THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN ONLY ABOUT 10000 MILES PER YEAR. AN ONLINE SEARCH REVEALED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THIS MAKE/MODEL. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS VEHICLE IS NOT RECALLED. ENGINE CRADLE WAS FOUND TO BE RUSTING OUT. SAW ISSUE ON NEWS, WEBSITES, ETC. *TR
CHRYSLER 2005 PACIFICA HAS SIGNIFICANT ENGINE CRADLE AND OTHER UNDERCARRIAGE RUST ISSUES. TODAY AT MY AUTO REPAIR SHOP I TOOK SEVERAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE, UNDERCARRIAGE AND OTHER SUSPENSION AREAS WITH HEAVY RUSTING. CALLED CHRYSLER CARE 1-800-247-9753 AND THEY KINDLY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO ASSIST IN THE REPAIR COST. NUMEROUS REPORTS ONLINE OF REPAIRS BEING SELECTIVELY REIMBURSED BY CHRYSLER. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS ARE REQUIRED FOR A RECALL TO BE ISSUED OR IS A CLASS ACTION DEVELOPING FOR THIS ISSUE. THANKS. *TR
CAR FAILED INSPECTION BECAUSE OF RUSTED OUT ENGINE CRADLE (UNDEMEMBER), *TR
WHEN TAKING THE CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE, IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT OUR ENGINE CRADLE WAS VERY CORRODED AND RUSTED THROUGH. WE HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL OF CAR. HOWEVER, OUR CAR WAS MANUFACTURED OUTSIDE THE VERY NARROW RANGE OF DATES FOR WHICH AN EXTENDED 10 YEAR, 150K MILE WARRANTY ON THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS MADE AVAILABLE. THE BODY SHOP HAS QUOTED US $4000 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, AND SAID THE CAR IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN IT'S CURRENT CONDITION. GIVEN THAT THIS ISSUE IS SO COMMON FOR THIS CAR, IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED DRIVING ONE. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE FORCED TO ISSUE A RECALL ON ALL 2004 AND 2005 PACIFICAS IN ORDER TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE FOR SOME FAMILY. *TR
9/23/14 TOOK MY PACIFICA TO SHOP TO HAVE AC FIXED ONCE ON THE LIFT THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED OUT AND MY CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. SO SCARED TO DRIVE VEHICLE, I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WOULD COST 3000. TO 5000 TO FIX. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY BEING RETIRED. CHRYSLER INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR WAS NOT BUILT BETWEEN FEB. AND MARCH 2004 SO THEY WONT COVER IT. HOW RIDICULOUS IS THIS THAT THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCTS. ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE FROM THIS ERROR. *TR
MY PACIFICA 2005 STARTED MAKING POPPING GRINDING NOISES WHILE STOPPING AND TAKING OFF PLUS WHILE TURNING. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE AXLE GASKET AND THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE BUT TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM QUICKLY. WELL COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS A ROTTING SUBFRAME. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR 2008 AND UP. I CALLED CHRYSLER BACK AND THEY SAID SORRY WRONG YEAR. I COULD HAVE KILLED MY FAMILY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER WON'T ADMIT TOO. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,600.

ON 9/10/2014 MY WIFE WAS IN A MINOR FENDER BENDER AND OUR 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAD TO BE TAKEN AWAY ON A FLATBED TOW TRUCK. UPON INSPECTION OF DAMAGE TO OUR FRONT END FROM THE ACCIDENT THE BODY SHOP INFORMED THEY FOUND THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IN ADDITION TO THE DAMAGE AND UPON MY SHOCK AND HORROR THEY FOUND OUR PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME/ENGINE CRADLE WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT!!! THE COST TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE SUBFRAME AND LABOR WILL BE $1500!!! I AM IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THEM REPLACE IT BECAUSE MY WIFE AND 2 SMALL CHILDREN ARE IN THIS SUV DAILY. I'M THANKFUL THAT THIS WAS FOUND NOW BEFORE IT WAS TOO LATE AND SOMETHING GOD AWFUL WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. I'M IN THE PROCESS OF TALKING WITH CHRYSLER AND AM LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPAIRED UNDER AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

I TOOK MY 2005 PACIFICA IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THE SUBFRAME OF MY VEHICLE IS ROTTING AND RUSTING AWAY. WHILE REPLACING A SET OF TIRES AT A LOCAL SHOP, THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME OF A RUSTED ENGINE SUPPORT FRAME. HE ALSO STATED THE DANGER OF THE ENGINE FALLING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AT THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WITH MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION REPORTS EVERY 3000 MILES. NEVER ONCE HAS THIS RUSTED FRAME BEEN REPORTED AT THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP! THE LAST SERVICE REPORT DURING AN OIL CHANGE STATED, "CHECKED OVER EVERYTHING LOOKED OK". THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPORTED OTHER MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR ISSUES BUT NEVER THIS ONE. IS CHRYSLER TRYING TO HIDE THIS POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM? I'VE BEEN A LONG TERM OWNER OF CHRYSLER PRODUCTS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A RUSTED-OUT ENGINE SUPPORT. THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES DURING A LEFT TURN. APPARENTLY MANY OF THE 05 PACIFICAS WERE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT THE CHRYSLER SERVICE SAID MY VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE SAME ISSUE UNDER THE RECALL. 06V432000. SINCE MY VIN DOES NOT PULL UP THE RECALL THEY WILL NOT COVER FIXING THE VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH SO MANY OTHER CARS WERE RECALLED IN THE SAME YEAR FOR THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE. *TR

I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AS THE CARS BUILT EARLIER IN THE YEAR, HOWEVER, I AM OUT $2700. WHY ISN'T THIS EXTENDED TO OTHER PACIFICA'S BUILT IN 2004 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM? *TR

THE VEHICLE FISH TAILED, BECAME VERY UNSTABLE, AND WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION FAILED. THE SUB FRAME UNDER THE DRIVE TRAIN HAS RUSTED OUT TO THE POINT THAT IT HAS LITTLE OR NO STRUCTURAL STRENGTH, THIS HAS ESSENTIALLY RENDERED THE CAR INOPERATIVE AND UNSAFE TO OPERATE. THE CAR HAS BARELY 100,000 MILES. *TR
