NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
FCW is not working after new radio was put in took it to two dealers they both said that there are no error codes the fcw is turned on but no warnings or braking the rear system works fine I used three large boxes to test both front and rear
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while his wife was driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the pedal went to the floorboard but failed to stop the vehicle. The driver heard an abnormal sound and continued to pump on the brake pedal until the vehicle stopped. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to continue driving to her destination. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake line to be bled. The vehicle was repaired but his wife continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the power brake booster to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
When did I stop for a extended time the brake pedal will lose pressure the harder you push and the car starts moving you have to let up on the break and push it again sometimes you have to set the parking brake or the car will keep rolling
Power to engine was lost while driving 75 miles per hour down the freeway in the HOV Express lane. There was no shoulder to pull over onto safely. This is the second time this has occurred. First incident was March 2021. Power to engine cut while driving on freeway 75 MPH. Car was towed to Bob Baker Chrysler. Dealer was unable to recreate the problem or diagnose after 7 days. Issues occurred again on 4/19/2022. Car was towed to Bob Baker Chrysler.
Recently I had occasion to look at the front hood of the car which my wife drives. I noticed that the paint had bubbled in three areas. I contacted Stellantis and was told since the car had more than 36,000 miles there was nothing they would do to help. I am filing this on behalf of myself and any other owners who may have experienced the same problem
The steering wheel locks up partially when you turn the wheel making it super dangerous when driving. It’s done it for as long as I have had the vehicle. There was never any warning messages prior to the problem. I have not had it inspected by anyone. Unknown if it’s been reproduced by dealer.
Multiple issues. First the ESS system has malfunctioned twice since purchase in 2019, required maintenance and aux battery replacement twice within 1 year. The major issue is the breaks/rotors/suspension. For the last year and a half I have been taking the van in for inspections... initially stated I did not need brakes/rotors at the dealership even though I was having slight squeaking and grinding, after bring it back a third time I was told oh yea you need them and its gonna cost $1,800. I then got a second opinion, they said the brakes and pads looked fine but if I wanted they would replace the pads in an attempt to make the squeaking stop. the squeaking stopped for about 10 days but the grinding and "metal rubbing" sound never has, they replaced the pads 3 more times. They stated it is not the brakes/rotors but fail to give a reason. He mentioned it is a body suspension issue, which I have been asking about for over a year. Very frustrating. Also my sliding van doors keep malfunctioning to work sometimes, or require manual opening and closing with no apparent reason. So disappointed with less then 60,000 miles
While going thru a car wash the passenger sliding door opened while the vehicle was moving causing the door to hit a post in the car wash and be ripped off the van. The rear passenger window was busted out from the van door sliding hinge. I checked online and found accounts of similar van owners complaining that the sliding rear doors only open when the vehicle is stopped and in Park. In my case the van was moving, the door had been locked, and the vehicle transmission was in neutral in order for the car wash track to move it thru the car wash.
I read that there is on ongoing investigation related to the 2019-2021 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid (Investigation# PE-22-008). I read the ODI Resume, and would like to report the exact same issue with my Pacifica. I was traveling at about 40 MPH on a four lane highway in February of 2022 when I suddenly lost all motive power. The dashboard reported a charging system error. I was able to get the car to the side of the road (though I was lucky to be able to do so) and it had to be towed to the Chrysler dealership (Deery Brothers Chrysler, 651 Hwy 1 W, Iowa City, IA 52246, 319-600-6890). They replaced a part in the charging system and it briefly ran, and then failed (thus the dealer has also reproduced the problem). It has now been at the dealership since then waiting for Chrysler to figure out the problem. Apparently Chrysler has sent an engineer to Deery as well, so there may be some confirmation from the manufacturer.
Vehicle lost all traction power and vehicle display on the dash indicated "Service Charging System"
Hood latch assembly & hood ajar switch stuck intermittently. Hood could’ve flew open & caused an accident. Vehicle is only 2yrs old. Repairs completed at Autonation Dealership the week of 5/11/22
The electrical system for the Chrysler Pacificas are dangerous. Beyond the other dangerous recalls, my Horn and cruise control no long work intermittently. I learned this while trying to warn a driver that was cutting into my lane without seeing my vehicle and I couldn’t warn them that they were about to hit me. Also Cruise control stops randomly. This all started after previous recall repairs. Since I am unable to use my horn in an emergency, I am nervous that my airbag no longer functions. This is a common issue reported online. This all started after previous recall repairs
The uconnect navigation system that controls the back up camera to car, the controls for the air conditioning/heat, and all the settings of the car is faulty and causes a short circuit. I have researched that a lot of consumers have problems with the chrysler pacifica uconnect system and they report similar issues. when you go to the car dealer they want to charge you 650 for a new one.
The vehicle would not start. Would not remote start. Literally didn't do anything when trying to start it. Did this before and I had it to the dealer. They replaced the extra battery. Now it's doing the same thing again.
When you come to a stop at a stop light and hold the brake it stiffens up and you start to roll forward. It has been a near death experience every time. So now at stop light i have to put the van in park, which afraid after doing for so long that will wear out.
monitor screen with all the cars information goes blank every 3-4 minutes then restarts and navigation goes out and radio and all climate control function quit working until the system restarts which causes driver distraction and is safety issue for me. Had to dealer but they have been unable to correct problem
On two separate occasions vehicle went into limp mode (red turtle mode) and then within minutes lost power and completely stopped working. The message "Service Charging Station" appeared after both incidents on the dashboard. We were fortunately traveling at low speeds (less than 25 MPH) and were able to pull over before losing power, but under other circumstances on other roads, the outcome could have certainly been worse and we may not have been able to move over to safety. On both occasions we were left stranded and the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership for repair. The vehicular failure we experienced on both occasions appears to be the same that is currently being investigated in the Office of Defects Investigation PE 22-008. The first incident occurred in December of 2021. Eventually the dealership replaced the power inverter module (PIM) in February of 2022. Vehicle was road tested and checked for safety and returned to us. In June of 2022 the vehicle broke down again with the exact same chain of events. Vehicle is currently at the dealership for repair and is again awaiting replacement of the PIM. It is my understanding that the failed parts have been/will be sent to Chrysler for internal investigation. As far as I am aware, they have not been inspected by any other parties. Other than the car going into limp mode, there were no other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
The following has happened twice. Once with me and once with my wife. The van is in reverse. My foot is on the brake. I am getting ready to reverse the van to get out of a parking space. Suddenly, the van lurches forward when I take my foot off the brake. The lurch is not soft of mild, it is shocking and frightening. In one case, we hit the car parked ahead of us. In both cases, had a person been in front of the car, he or she would have been surely injured.
Four times in the last week the brakes have failed! Twice it coasted farther than normal when coming to a stop and twice more the brake pedal pushed back against my foot when already at a complete stop, causing the car to roll forward even though my foot was attempting to keep the brake pedal pressed. I had to lift my foot and slam it back down to stop the vehicle. There is a hissing sound when depressing the pedal. A quick google search points to brake booster with multiple reports for this make/model. This needs to be recalled! We are taking it to a dealership in the morning. ZERO warning lights or indicators.
Brake pedal pushes up against your foot and vehicle rolls forward even though my foot is firmly pressing down. Several instances. Further research has shown this is a common issue with this make and model. Dealership doesn't not cover the work and is booked out over two months.
Hissing when pushing on the brake pedal and drops to the floor easier than any car I have ever owned. Occasionally it has issues stopping in a reasonable distance. I pushed the brakes down and rolled about 4 feet past the line in an intersection. Will roll with brakes pressed at a stop light. I see a lot of these complaints now and wondering why there has not been a recall as of yet... it is the braking system of the car and a car is to do only a few things without fail, acceleration and stopping...
While traveling in the left hand lane I was hit on the right side pushing me into a median. I applied the brakes and they didn’t stop the vehicle. When the van came into contact with the curb. The airbags deployed. I smelt smoke and told my 4 young children in the back seat we needed to get out now. Two of my children were in 5 pt harness car seats in the third row. We were able to run to a safe area before it went up in flames less than a few mins later. There were no witnesses and no one around. My children and I could of been seriously injured or worse. No warning lights were active. No signs of failure until I tried pressing the brakes. The vehicle was inspected by the fire department that arrived on scene when it was fully engulfed in flames at that point.
The van was purchased in November 2019. In November 2020, the vehicle would not start. The tow truck came to our house to give us a jump and informed us the battery was dead. We went to an auto store to buy a battery because the Frisco Chrysler dealership closed on Sundays. the salesman stated that we should go to National Tire and Battery. We took the van to NTB and that's when we found out we had two batteries and they rely on each other. Because we already purchased a regular battery they were able to install it; however the van had to be towed to a Frisco Chrysler dealership to install an auxiliary battery. Frisco Chrysler installed the auxiliary battery successfully. Unfortunately, six months later we were back at Frisco Chrysler because the auxiliary light had come back on. I took the van to the dealership and they replaced the auxiliary battery stating that the battery will only last between six months to 2 years. In June 2021, the auxiliary light came back on and Frisco Chrysler changed the auxiliary battery again. I returned the following day because the auxiliary light came back on. The mechanic stated the wire connecting the auxiliary battery had come a loose and stated he fixed it. In October 2021, the auxiliary light came back on. By this time we moved to Georgia; therefore we took the van to Gwinnett Chrysler. Gwinnett Chrysler stated there was a wiring issue and stated it would cost $1,000 to fix. The struggle is the van isn't three years old, but has multiple problems.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, he kept having to depress the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. However, the vehicle would not stop completely. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with brake booster failure. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known failure; however, parts to fix the vehicle were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 66,100.
I was stopped while waiting for kids to get in the car and I heard a loud hissing noise. The noise stopped when I released the brakes. Each time I pressed the breaks, the hissing continued - no matter how long the brake pedal was being pressed. The dealership seemed very unconcerned and told me it would be two weeks before I could even get in for a diagnosis. In the days leading up to the appointment, I was on the freeway going 55mph. A car in front of me stopped quickly and I slammed on the brakes as hard as I could. We slowed down, but did not stop nearly as quickly as one would hope. We barely missed hitting the car in front of us. We drove immediately to the dealership and left the van with them until our appointment time. The part needed to fix it (Brake Booster) is on backorder and our van will now be sitting at the dealership for who knows how long. There were no warning lights on the car, so I did not suspect the issue was this bad. The hissing had only began less than two weeks prior. Car only has 30,000 miles on it and has been up to date on maintenance.
The vehicle is a 2019 Chrysler/Braun mobility van, my wife is a paraplegic that has no feeling from the chest down. The Uconnect system is the issue. The Blind Spot Alert does not work, the Power Sliding Doors do not work, the Windows will not operate, the Heat go to 76 degrees and will not turn off, the Info Center goes black, the Back Up Camera will not work, the Navigation system stops working, the Audio stops working, the Audio/Bluetooth will not work, the Panel Lights come on but do not work. We were on a trip when the Uconnect system malfunctioned and all the above happened. The temp outside was about 75 degrees and the heat came on and the windows would not work. My wife's foot got so severely burned it needed medical attention and is still dealing with this 3 months later. The vehicle became an oven. With the power sliding doors being inop my wife is either a prisoner in her own vehicle or she cannot enter the vehicle at all. With her limited mobility and the backup camera inop it makes it unsafe for to back the vehicle up safely. If we are not familiar with an area we are going to it makes it that much more difficult to find our destination without the Navigation system working.
While driving on highway, brakes did not respond quickly and vehicle did not slow down. I had to stand on the brake to get the car to stop. This repeated itself multiple times over the next few days and is ongoing. There is a hissing sound like there is some air system at work and the break pushes back at your feet while breaking. Called the local dealer who did not have an appointment for several weeks. Dealer claims there is no known issue. But online and there are dozens of complaints and here on the NHTSA website there are over 25 complaints about this issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while reversing at 1 MPH, the Back Over Prevention camera sensors failed to recognize a child behind the vehicle. The contact almost struck the child. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.
We purchased our vehicle on July 8, 2019 and it was 18,179 miles on August 9, 2021, is slightly over what would be considered eligible under the NY Lemon Law for new vehicles. We took our vehicle in to the Service Center for a routine inspection on August 9, 2021, because we realized our sticker expired only to learn that it would not pass inspection due to the check engine light coming on. After they diagnosed it, we were told the reason for the Check Engine light being on was some wires had supposedly been chewed by rodents. The service department repaired the wires and we paid $979.55 out of pocket for that repair. We were told to pick up the vehicle on August 11, 2021 (with an expired inspection) and drive it for approximately 100 miles and then bring it back in one week to see if they would be able to perform the inspection. After driving the vehicle for less than a week is when the nightmare begins! FIVE INCIDENTS LATER, the vehicle’s electrical system continues to dangerously malfunction WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. The vehicle still can not be inspected. The service department continues to give the vehicle back to us band-aiding every repair of the electrical system and the issue IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. The last incident, the 5th time, we took a trip to New Paltz NY and we received the dreaded Uconnect Service Alert about the Malfunction Indicator as soon as we arrived there. We immediately cut our trip short and attempted to go back to the Bronx to return the vehicle to the Dealer Service center. We called Eastchester Chrysler and left a voicemail that we were on our way to return the vehicle again. The vehicle started to malfunction severely as we were driving on I-87. Practically every system was indicating failure including the Air Bag, Brake system, Electronic Stability Control, Shifter, Steering, etc. The vehicle stalled near Exit 14A Chestnut Ridge. We had to pay $340 to be towed to our home in the Bronx, because it was too late to take it to the dealer.
My brakes were hissing when pressed and started squealing. Shortly after this when I tried to stop I came inches from hitting the car in front of me. I have also noticed when this is happening the auto shut off feature is not working. My dealer can’t even look at my car for a couple of weeks to see what may be causing the issue. I have seen reports of others having this issue as well which is a huge safety concern.
The van's brakes failed on 8/4/21. I had my foot on the brake pedal at a stoplight behind other cars. My car moved forward. It didn't initially respond to my pressing harder and I thought I'd crash. Brakes hissed, then dropped lower to the floor. I pushed harder. The van stopped & I put on the parking brake. I had one episode a few days prior where I felt brake was slow to respond and heard hissing noise. I had the car towed to the dealer as I was afraid if the brakes failed again I would cause an accident or roll into oncoming traffic at a stoplight.
Slowing for a red light travelling approximately 35 miles an hour. Brake pedal was depressed and suddenly lost pressure/pedal went to the floor with a hissing sound as if there was a compressed air line. Car rolled through intersection with myself and two children on board. Luckily we were not hit by oncoming cross lane traffic. Afterwards there was overtly strong brake pedal force with more air hissing, pushing foot and pedal towards driver. Release pedal and pumping the brake resumed normal pressure. In discussing with Chrysler tech this appears to be a brake booster failure due to contamination from vacuum line. Car has no CEL's or related warning indicators for brake system.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that on two separate occasions while at a complete stop, the vehicle shut-off as the stability control and service shifter warning lights illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed twice to the dealer after each failure. The first time the dealer replaced the shifter assembly; however, the failure returned two months later. The second time, the dealer stated that the range switch had failed, and they made additional repairs to the vehicle. The contact stated that she does not feel safe driving the vehicle and had left the vehicle since the second repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 10,376.
there is a hissing sound and it feels as if air pressure is building up in the brake line which is pushing against my foot is on the brake pedal, allowing the vehicle to accelerate slowly when it should be stopped.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the brakes, ESC, Lane Keep Assist, air bags, and seat belt warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the "Rear Parking Assist Not Available" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who tightened the battery terminal; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced the ORC module, the transmission control module, the body control module, the ABS module, and the wiring front end module; however, the check engine warning light illuminated while the dealer was taking the vehicle back to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced low voltage failure. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer - Hendrick Chrysler Jeep FIAT (543 N McPherson Church Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28303) who recharged the battery; however, the failure reoccurred. Additionally, the contact stated that the turn signals failed to work. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer - Crown Dodge of Fayetteville (436 N McPherson Church Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28303) who updated an unknown software; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed with the Adaptive Cruise Control activated, the vehicle decelerated significantly and abruptly. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband depressed the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact's husband then depressed the brake pedal and veered to the side of the road, where the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. The contact stated that the vehicle restarted after several attempts: however, the vehicle continuously stalled while driving back to residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 31,800.
The UConnect Infotainment system which controls the the radio, air temperature, seat and steering wheel warmers, and many other functions of the car will randomly go blank and the electrical components of the car cannot be controlled. This can happen in the middle of driving without warning and is distracting, but even worse takes control of the vehicle away from the driver. Drivers can become distracted when the Uconnect system malfunctions, taking their eyes off the road and increasing the risk of the crash. They may also lose access to safety features such as the back-up camera and hands-free phone use. Sometimes the problem resolves if turn vehicle off, sometimes the fuses have to be pulled, and sometimes the vehicle has to go to the dealer. Chrysler has not addressed this issue properly with software updates as it keeps happening. Here is a list of components that will not work when UConnect radio goes blank: - GPS and navigation system keeps turning on and off, or doesn’t work at all - Rear-view backup camera doesn’t work when reversing, or stays on when the car is in forward motion - Uconnect theater system doesn’t work properly (no radio, rear DVD, music, etc.) - Climate control isn’t responsive - Heated seats don’t work or are “stuck on” - Loss of Bluetooth connectivity, which is necessary for hands-free calling - TV monitors fail to turn on, connect and/or sync with the Uconnect system There are currently class action lawsuits on this matter. https://www.classaction.org/chrysler-pacifica-uconnect-screen-camera-gps-theater-lawsuits Please hold FCA accountable to get a proper fix out to stop this issue. I have personally experienced this problem multiple times and have been to the dealer twice to try different firmware updates and still have problem. I am not alone in dealing with this issue as many on forums and discussion groups have shared the same problems.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 35 mph, the brake pedal failed to operate as needed without warning. The contact was able to swerve past the vehicle in front of her and stop on the side of the road. The contact's wife parked the vehicle in a parking lot and the contact picked up the vehicle and drove it home. The contact had taken the vehicle to several independent mechanics for estimates on a repair. One mechanic informed him that the vehicle was still under warranty and had to be repaired by a dealer. The contact then had the vehicle towed to a dealer where he was informed that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a brake booster contamination that needed replacement. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
My vehicle at 28,k plus miles I noticed it seemed to slip. This would happen intermittently. I thought I was imagining it at first. Then it started to do a more violent jerking. The dealership did a reset. It started doing it a week later, and intermittently. I was also in the dealership because I was hearing a clunking noise in the rear when driving over uneven pavement, or backing out of my driveway. I have been waiting two months for rear struts to fix the issue. Vehicle sounds getting progressively worse and I'm concerned about driving. Today the rear struts wear promised to arrive. I was just told they will arrive Sept 10, 2021. Three days ago, an alert symbol popped onto my dash screen -a yellow circle with an A inside followed by an exclamation mark. I am bringing my vehicle in on August 30, 2021. The dealer said I need to have the battery charged!? They are also going to reset the transmission slipping program, again. Are other 2019 vehicles having the same issues?
The brake booster has failed making it extremely difficult to drive and dangerous according to the local Dodge dealership these parts have been on backorder for 2 months now
A slow coolant leak is draining the coolant from the reservoir into the engine. This has happened twice now and no external leaks can be found. The first instance in June 2021 was on a trip from Goldsboro, NC to Antigo, WI. We made it to Chicago and noticed the engine temp climbing. We thought it was due to the trip and heat but had just stopped in Ohio the day prior. We took the vehicle to a local shop and they told us the coolant was nearly gone. The second time happened just [XXX] when I took my Pacifica in for an oil change. The shop stated my coolant was very low and they had to fill it up. They again found no visible external leak. I had noticed that it was low as well the day prior after getting home and knowing the shop is less than 2 miles away I knew I could get the van there safely. I did notice the temperature going up quickly even though it has been bitterly cold the last few days. I've been doing research and found many Pacifica and other online forums stating this issue had led to engine failures totaling repair costs in excess of $5,000 as of 2023 before continued inflation. This poses a huge safety risk for motorists if the engine fails while in transit as well as during extreme weather both cold and hot. Please hold the manufacturer accountable to fix this common defect for those of us who cannot afford a new vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
When braking, the brakes will fail to engage and pumping the brakes is required to stop. When the brake is depressed at a light, the brakes will release, causing the car to start forward without pressing the gas pedal. The brake booster in ABS system is defective and on national back order. No recalls in place, but driving safety is severely compromised.
The van started with very jerky shifting around 70,000 miles. The car would, at times, lurch hard forward when shifting. Eventually, a Chrysler dealer looked at the transmission and determined it needed replaced. The replacement transmission started with the same problems after about 20,000 miles. Van currently has only 115,000 miles.
While driving 70MPH on the freeway the power to the engine failed. The dash showed a power error, telling me to plug the vehicle in. After coasting to the shoulder, the power to the car would not turn off, nor would the engine turn back on. I sat on the shoulder of the I-15 Freeway in Rancho Bernardo, CA for 45 minutes until a tow truck could come and tow the car to the dealership where it was purchased, Bob Baker Chrysler in Carlsbad, CA. The service technician, Juan Gonzalez, kept the car for about a week trying to replicate the problem, detect the issue, or learn anything about it. He could not determine the cause or the solution. However the car would start again and appeared to drive normally again. After 7 days the car was returned to me with out any repairs or any explanations or any assurance that this would not happen again. My family was placed in serious danger by being forced to sit in the car on the small shoulder a major interstate freeway without any power to the engine.
MY 2019 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS BEGUN SHUTTERING AT STOPS. THE VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER 12,000 MILES AND IS ONLY 18 MONTHS OLD. I TOOK IT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PADS ARE FINE BUT THE ROTORS ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND MUST BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES. INFORMATION PUBLISHED BY CHRYSLER INDICATES THAT ROTORS SHOULD LAST 40,000 TO 80,000 MILES. THIS CAR HAS BEEN KEPT IN A GARAGE THE ENTIRE TIME I HAVE OWNED IT WHEN IT WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN. I THINK IT IS CLEAR THAT THE ROTORS WERE MADE OF DEFECTIVE MATERIAL. ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES, YET I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY $1,000 OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED. I AM REPORTING THIS SO AN INVESTIGATION CAN BE DONE INTO THE MATERIALS CHRYSLER USED TO PRODUCE THESE ROTORS. A RECALL MAY NEED TO BE CONSIDERED.
CAR SUBJECT TO RECALL FOR MALFUNCTIONING REAR CAMERA (VE-2 IS CODE) DURING REPAIR, TOUCHSCREEN RENDERED INOPERABLE. NOW, CAMERA DOESN'T WORK AT ALL, MOST CONTROLS REQUIRE USE OF TOUCH SCREEN WHICH NO LONGER WORKS. CAR HAD NO ISSUE BEFORE RECALL, NO NO BACKUP CAMERA AND REPAIRS ARE EXPECTED TO TAKE AT LEAST 6 WEEKS DUE TO CLAIMED LACK OF PARTS.
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THE VAN HAS LOST BRAKE FUNCTION. I CAN SLOWLY BE COMING TO A STOP AND PRESS BRAKES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I'M STILL COASTING. VERY SCARY. HOWEVER TODAY TOOK THE CAKE. I WAS LEAVING A STEEP DRIVEWAY AND IT HAPPENED, I PANICKED AND TRIED TO APPLY THE PARKING BREAK BUT IT DID NOT HELP. PRAISE THE LORD A CAR WASNT COMING BC I COASTED RIGHT ON INTO THE ROAD. WE WILL LIKELY HAVE TO GET IT IN SHOP BC THIS IS GETTING VERY DANGEROUS AND WE HAVE 4 KIDS IN TOW. PLEASE RECALL THIS
There is bubbling all along the hood of the van and now it is chipping. We inquired about this when we were getting oil changes at the dealer and no one said anything. I have a friend who said hers was recalled but I never received anything. We inquired a couple times and was brushed off. I now know that there was a recall and that this is a known defect. I only have 43k miles on this van it’s always I. A garage and I would like mine fixed since this is a well known defect.
THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT WHILE ACTIVELY DRIVING IT DOWN THE ROAD ON A CITY STREET. THE VEHICLE STOPS MID DRIVING, IMMEDIATELY SHUTS OFF, LOSES ALL POWER, AND ENGAGES PARK BY ITSELF. THE VEHICLE THEN FAILS TO RESTART AND LEAVES DRIVER STRANDED IN UNSAFE CONDITIONS. HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME DRIVING 40MPH DOWN A CITY ROAD. DRIVER WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. AFTER 20 MINS DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN ONLY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN HALF A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BY CHRYSLER TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND NO STORED ERRORS AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. THEY INSTALLED A FLIGHT RECORDER IN THE VEHICLE AND WE PICKED IT UP YESTERDAY. 10 MILES AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHILE DRIVING ON ANOTHER CITY ROAD THE VEHICLE AGAIN SHUT ITSELF OFF WHILE DRIVING, HAD A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, AND LOCKED ITSELF INTO PARK MODE AND WOULDN'T RESTART. THIS TIME HAD MY ENTIRE FAMILY AND TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR TRAPPED IN THE MIDDLE ON A BUSY INTERSECTION. VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED AGAIN TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM THE FLIGHT RECORDER DIDN'T PICK UP ANYTHING. A CLAIM HAS BEEN OPENED UP WITH FCA HEADQUARTERS AND AGAIN NO ONE IS ASSISTING IN THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND APPLIED THE BRAKES THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND SHUT DOWN. UNABLE TO START THE CAR AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS IT FINALLY STARTED AGAIN, WENT A FEW MORE FEET AND THEN COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AGAIN, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM THE FRONT AND THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF GAS. A PEDESTRIAN CAME OVER AND TOLD ME NOT TO ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR AGAIN BECAUSE THERE WAS GASOLINE LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME AT THE TIME AND SO WE ALL HAD TO HOP OUT IN A PANIC AND I WENT INSIDE A NEARBY COFFEE SHOP TO CALL THE POLICE, INSURANCE CO AND A TOWING SERVICE. AS I MENTIONED THE CAR WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, WHICH WAS A DANGER TO DRIVERS PASSING BY AND TO MYSELF, ALL I COULD SEE WAS GASOLINE POURING OUT OF THE CAR. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SERVICE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CLAMP FROM THE FUEL LINE SOMEHOW CAME OFF AND THIS WAS "A ONE IN A MILLION CHANCE OF HAPPENING TO ANYONE". THEY OFFERED ME NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THIS OCCURRED AND OFFERED ME NOTHING TO EASE MY WORRY OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT WE PURCHASED THIS AS A NEW VEHICLE AND IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. NONETHELESS A CONCERNING ISSUE AS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE OR EXPLOSION WITH ME AND MY 3 CHILDREN IN THE VAN. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS, PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENTS FO THE DOCUMENTATION FROM THE DEALERSHIP.
Low speed while slowing accelerating van will shift so hard that the traction control goes off. Very hard shifting. Intermittent. This has been reported numerous times since 9 speed trans were installed.
