DASHBOARD FALLING APART. *TR
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT GAS GAUGE WAS ON EMPTY. CONSUMER THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A GAS STATION AND FILLED THE GAS TANK BUT THE GAS GAUGE STILL WAS ON EMPTY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP. MECHANIC INDICATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE GOT HOT FROM THE SUN THE DASHBOARD COMPONENTS BECOME INOPERATIVE. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE SPEED HE WAS DRIVING, AND HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE GAS TANK. *AK
THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS ARE SEPARATING FROM THE RUBBER. THIS CAN CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, RATTLES, SEVERE TIRE VIBRATION OR FRONT END VIBRATION. SOME OF MY MEMBERS HAVE HAD THIS OCCUR AS LOW AS 5000 MILES. CURRENTLY MINE HAS 36.000 MILES AND THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING ON MINE. I AM A ASE CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN. AND THERE IS NO WAY THAT THESE TYPE OF BUSHINGS SHOULD BE HAVING THIS SEPARATION PROBLEM AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. A RECALL IS IN ORDER, BEFORE A OWNER HAS A VEHICLE ACCIDENT DUE TO THE VEHICLE LOOSING STEERING CONTROL. *AK
DURING AN INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE HEAD GASKET HAD FAILED. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. *AK *SC *JB
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE BRAKES WERE DEFECTIVE AND PERFORMED POORLY WHEN APPLIED. THE CONSUMER SUSPECTS THAT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT WORK ON THE BRAKES AT ALL. *AK THERE WAS A SCREECHING NOISE AND THE BRAKES WOULD SOMETIMES GO ALMOST TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOOR. THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT DID NOT ALWAYS LOCK, THE BRAKES WOULD RUB AND HESITATE TO STOP, THE A/C DID NOT GET COLD ON HIGH SETTINGS, THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD ELECTRONIC SYSTEM WAS OFF, THE FUEL, MPH AND THE RPM LIGHTS HAD COME ON, AT THE INSIDE TOP OF ALL FOUR DOORS, THE LINING WAS BULDGING IN AND OUT, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT NEEDED SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE LOCKING, THE RIGHT SIGNAL HAD TO BE MANUALLY STOPPED, AND THE LEFT SIGNAL LIGHT DID NOT HOLD. THERE WAS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE ODOMETER READING. (THE CONSUMER FELT THAT IT DID NOT DISPLAY THE PROPER MILEAGE) *SC
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED CONSTANTLY AND THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. THE CONTACT WAITED FOR THE TEMPERATURE ON THE VEHICLE TO COOL OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE OPEN CIRCUIT FAN MOTOR. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE RADIATOR EXPLODED. THE FAILURE RESULTED IN TWO REPLACEMENTS OF THE RADIATOR FAN BELT ASSEMBLY AND A REPAIR TO THE COOLING FAN GROUND. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,600. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,678.
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ANOTHER VEHICLE MERGED IN FRONT OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE, RESULTING IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD AND NECK INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
JUST PAID FOR AN ISSUE WITH A VEHICLE THAT WAS ADDRESSED BY NHTSA RECALL # 01V288000, BACK IN 9/01. (THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE SELLING DEALER AT THAT TIME, FOR THE RECALL. NOW, THE EXACT PROBLEM EXPLAINED IN THE RECALL HAPPENED TO THE CAR, AND THE DEALER CHARGED FOR THE REPAIR, CLAIMING A HARD WIRING ISSUE THAT HE REFUSED TO SHOW ME. *AK
BOUGHT A NEW 2002 PT CRUISER. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY BAD AT 37,000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 72,000 MILES. CHRYSLER REPAIRED THE FIRST TIME UNDER THE STANDARD WARRANTY. THE SECOND TIME, I PAID $100.00 SINCE I HAVE A 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY.*AK
THE VEHICLE'S PANELS FOR THE WINDOWS ARE BEGINNING TO DISCOLOR BECAUSE OF THE CHEMICAL USED WHEN WASHING THE VEHICLE. *AK
UPON PARKING THE VEHICLE ENGINE EXPLODED, BURNING THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION WHICH IS POSTED ON NHTSA WEBSITE REGARDING THE ENGINE.*AK PE04028_CAT
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED A RECALL LETTER WAS RECEIVED FOR THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER 2004 AND THE RECALL REPAIR WORK WAS COMPLETED BY THE DEALER. IN JANUARY 2005, THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS CONTINUALLY LOW DUE TO A LEAK INDICATING THAT ONE OF THE HOSES WAS ERODED. THE DEALER DETERMINED A PUMP AND HOSE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE HOSE WAS REPLACED PREVIOUSLY UNDER THE RECALL BUT THE PUMP WAS NOT. THE DEALER WILL NOT PERFORM THE NECESSARY REPAIRS FOR THIS MANUFACTURER DEFECT WITHOUT A CHARGE. *NM THE SERPENTINE BELT, BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AND MOTOR MOUNT WERE REPLACED. THE RIGHT SIDE INTERIOR LIGHT WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 02/06/07. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. DRIVER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC REPLACED THE PITMAN ARM DUE TO A WORN OUT PART. *AK
TWO MAJOR COMPLAINTS: 1. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON 3 OCCASIONS IN DESERTED PARKING SPOTS - WITH MY CAR JUST NOT STARTING - THE IGNITION WILL NOT WORK AND THERE WAS A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE / DISCHARGE. ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE WE CALLED ON EACH OCCASION AND ONLY ON CHARGING THE BATTERY WOULD THE CAR START. THE FIRST INSTANCE HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS ONLY 3 MONTHS OLD (ITS A 2002 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER, 4 CYL NON TURBO , AUTOMATIC - BOUGHT IN MARCH 2003) - THE SECOND SIMILAR INSTANCE WAS 3 MONTHS LATER AND THE LAST ONE WAS A FEW WEEKS BACK. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR REPEATEDLY TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BUT THEY KEEP SAYING THAT MAYBE SOMETHING IS DRAWING EXTRA POWER. THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE OR TAKE ANY FURTHER ACTION. 2. I READ ABOUT THE RECALL NOTICE RELEASED IN JUNE 2004. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REFUSED TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM SAYING THAT THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY CONFIRMATION FROM CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS. I CALLED UP CHRYSLER AND I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A LETTER IN THE MAIL AUTHORIZING THE RECALL. ITS BEEN A MONTH AND THE LETTER HAS NOT BEEN RECEIVED - THE CHRYSLER COMPANY DOES NOT RETURN CALLS AND ON LISTENING TO MY PROBLEMS SAYS I WILL RECEIVE A LETTER IN THE MAIL. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT TOUCH MY CAR UNLESS I HAVE A LETTER - WHAT DOES CHRYSLER WANT US TO DO -THEY SELL US INFERIOR PRODUCTS AND NOW DO THEY WANT US TO BURN !! DT: CONSUMER STATES: HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE RIMS THAT ARE CHROME PLATED AND DETERIORATING. ALSO, THE VALVE STEMS ARE DETERIORATING. GOODYEAR CLAIMS GM IS HAVING AN ISSUE WITH CHROME PLATED RIMS. IT IS CAUSING THE VALVE STEMS JUST TO MALFUNCTION. DEALER HAS DONE ONE RIM REPLACEMENT UNDER WARRANTY, SAID IT WAS A COURTESY .*AK STEMS WERE LEAKING FROM CORROSION OF RIM AFTER RIM REPLACEMENT. *AK GOODYEAR 59TBSWAS TOURING 205/55R16 89T. *TT
I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW, A '02 PT CRUISER, AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THE RACK AND PINION HAS CRACKED!!! I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER, WHICH TELLS ME THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO!!*AK
I WAS INVOLVED IN A SINGLE CAR, FRONT END COLLISION, IN WHICH I HIT A CONCRETE STRUCTURE HEAD ON AT APPROX 45 MPH. THE AIRBAGS, NEITHER DRIVER OR PASSENGER, DEPLOYED, RESULTING IN MY HITTING MY HEAD. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT AND SURELY A GREAT ENOUGH FORCE TO DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS. DEALER SAYS IT WAS SIMPLY THAT THE SENSORS WERE NOT TRIGGERED. WHAT MORE DOES IT TAKE TO TRIGGER THE SENSORS? *AK
CONSUMER WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND HIT A CONCRETE CURB. THE CONSUMER WAS BACKING UP AND HEARD A LOUD STREAKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT BUMPER FELL OFF. CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE BUMPER WAS DESIGNED TOO LOW TO THE GROUND. *AK *JB
AFTER 38,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION PUMP WENT OUT. THE DEALER STATED THE WARRANTY RAN OUT AT 36,000 MILES AND THERE IS NO DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY. IT WILL COST ME 1,6000 DOLARS TO REPLACE. NEVER WILL I BUY FROM CHRYSLER AGAIN! *AK
2002 PT CRUISER FIRE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AT APPROXIMATELY 3 MPH, THE DRIVER WAS WARNED BY PEDESTRIANS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE DRIVER EXITED THE VEHICLE AND A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE COULD BE DETECTED. THE DRIVER OPENED THE HOOD AND THERE WAS A RUSH OF FLAMES, WHICH DIED DOWN AFTER A SECOND. THE FIRE APPEARED TO ORIGINATE AT THE LOW CENTER OF THE FIRE WALL AT THE FUEL LINE, WHICH IS LOCATED NEAR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. ORLANDO FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT STATED THE FIRE WAS DUE TO A FUEL LEAK. *AK *NM *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY FLATTEN DUE TO THE 16 INCH ALUMINUM CHROME RIMS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RIMS ARE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED AT THIS TIME. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT REFUSES TO TAKE ACTION. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 47,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
WHEN FIRST CRANKING CA RIT WILL REV ITSELF UP, THE SPEEDOMETER GOES TO 120MPH RPMS TACHS OUT, AND THEN DROPS BELOW 1/2 RPM, SPUTTERS AND BACKFIRE SOFF. HAD IN CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR THIS AND UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. TOLD ME THAT A SENSOR COULD BE GOING BAD. NOW WHILE MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING OUT OF NEIGHBORHOOD THE CAR WENT DEAD AS DOES WITH ME AT TIMES AT STOP SIGN AND REFUSED TO CRANK AGAIN. CALLED ROADSIDE HAD IT FOR A CHARGE OF 75.00 AND WAS TOLD I HAD BAD GAS AND WANTED ANOTHER 510.00 TO FIX. WAS TOLD NOT COVERED UNDER REG. WARRANTY OR THE 1300.00 EXTENDED BUMPER TO BUMPER WE PURCHASED.
THE SAFETY RECALL FOR THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE WAS COMPLETED IN NOVEMBER 2002. ON 11 JANUARY 2004, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED AGAIN. DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE CONTROLLER (AGAIN), LEAVING ME TO WONDER IF THIS IS PERMANENT 'FIX' OR IS IT ONE THAT I WILL NEED TO CONSTANTLY BE WORRYING ABOUT? CHRYSLER RECALL CENTER PROVIDES NO ASSURANCE. DEALER SAYS, 'IF IT FAILS, BRING IT IN AGAIN.' - NOT MUCH ASSURANCE. * CB
POWER STEERING FAILED. DEALERSHIP STATES THE POWER STEERING RACK AND PUMP ARE DEFECTIVE. THIS WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING. THE PART IS BACK ORDERED UP TO 3 WEEKS WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. THERE MUST BE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF RACK FAILURES. *CB
FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS HAVE WHAT LOOKS TO BE MASKING TAPE MARKS ON THEM WHERE THE PAINT HAS NOW FADED. THE FADED AREA IS APPROXIMATELY THE WIDTH OF MASKING TAPE AND GOES FROM THE EDGE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF BOTH BUMPERS ACROSS TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF BOTH BUMPERS.
GRINDING NOISE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, CRACKING NOISE WHEN ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM ACTIVATED. THE BRAKE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT APPROX. 22,000 MILES AND THE PADS WHERE WORNED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE TO THE METAL. THERE WAS NO PRE- WARNING OF THE CONDITION. I PURCHASED A PTCRUISER WHEN FIRST MANUFACTORED THE BRAKES HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.*AK
I HAVE DISCOLORATION ON BOTH BUMPERS SIMILAR TO WHAT IS DESCRIBED IN ODI COMPLAINTS 10058425 AND 10105776. THE DICOLORATION HAS BEEN NOTICEABLE SINCE SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THE CAR BUT HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME. LOOKS LIKE THERE WAS MASKING TAPE ON THE BUMPER WHEN A PROTECTIVE COATING WAS PUT ON THE REST OF THE BUMPER LEAVING THE PLASTIC UNDER THE MASKING TAPE UNPROTECTED WHEN IT WAS REMOVED. THE DISCOLORATION CLEARLY INDICATES THAT THERE HAD ONCE BEEN TAPE ON THE BUMPER LEAVING A FADED SPOT IN THE SHAPE OF A SQUARE OF TAPE WHICH HAS BECOME PRONOUNCED OVER TIME. *NM
AFTER THE RECALL REGARDING THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS PERFORMED, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE BY ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, THEY INDICATED THE RECALL WAS NEVER DONE. RECALL #02V215000)*JB
THE BRAKES STARTED MAKING A SCRATCH/GRINDING SOUND EVERY TIME I WOULD COME TO A STOP. THERE WAS NO DIFFICULTY WITH BRAKING, JUST THE NOISE. SO, I VISUALLY INSPECTED THEM AND NOTICED THE FRONT RIGHT ROTOR WAS WORN ON THE OUTER EDGE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL, REPUTABLE, TIRE STORE AND THEY FOUND THE DAMAGE TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A CLIP THAT CAME LOOSE, THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE PART OF THE BRAKE PAD. I HAVE KEPT THE DEFECTIVE PART. THE CAR HAD 26,000 MILES, MUCH OF THOSE MILES WERE HIGHWAY DRIVING. *AK
MY 2002 PT CRUISER CAUGHT FIRE AND THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER SAY TOO BAD.THE CAR HAD TWO RECALLS ONE WHICH WAS FIXED AND ONE WHICH THEY NEVER NOTIFIED ME OF.*AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER NOTICED BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. CONSUMER PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER, OPENED THE HOOD, AND NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. DRIVER CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. *AK
WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, I WAS REAR-ENDED BY A DELAWARE CAB (CROWN VICTORIA); WHICH CONTINUED TO DRIVE ME INTO THE CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME AND BOTH OF US INTO THE PICKUP TRUCK IN FRONT OF HER. IT WAS A FOUR CAR COLLISION, WITH THREE OF US BEING TOTALLY STOPPED WHEN I WAS REAR-ENDED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND INQUIRED AS TO WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND WAS TOLD "WE NEED TO OFFER YOU A SETTLEMENT". CHRYSLER HAD AN "INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATOR" DO AN EVALUATION AND HAS INFORMED ME THAT "WE CAN NOT GIVE YOU A COPY OF THIS REPORT AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IF YOU WANT A COPY YOU WILL HAVE TO SUE US". MY CAR WAS NOT RUNNING WHEN THE CAB DROVE ME INTO THE CHEVROLET LUMINA IN FRONT OF ME. THE OFFICER THAT RESPONDED TO THE ACCIDENT ASKED IF I HAD A SWITCH TO TURN OFF THE AIR BAG, WHICH THE CAR DID NOT. WHEN THE OFFICER REQUESTED US TO MOVE THE CARS OUT OF THE ROADWAY, HE TOLD ME TO STAY OUT OF MY CAR, WHILE THE OTHER CARS WERE MOVED BECAUSE HE WAS CONCERNED THE AIR BAGS WOULD DEPLOY. *NM
THE FRONT BRAKES STARTED SQUEAKING AS I COME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 14,500 MILES. *NLM
BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY AT 27,000 MILES, OF WHICH 20,000 OF THOSE MILES ARE FREEWAY MILES. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE BOTH WORN OUT. I ASKED FOR THE OLD PARTS AND SAW THAT THE INSIDE PADS WERE NEARLY GONE. WHEN I QUESTIONED WHY 1.) THERE WAS NEVER A WARNING FROM THE BRAKE PAD CHIRPERS AND 2.) THE BRAKES WERE WORN OUT SO SOON, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT CHRYSLER IS USING LESSER QUALITY MATERIALS IN THE ROTORS AND PADS. THE DEALER ALSO SAID THAT ONLY THE OUTSIDE PAD HAS A CHIRPER (A WORN PAD WARNING DEVICE) AND THAT THE INSIDE PAD WILL GRIND THE ROTOR BEFORE THE OUTSIDE PAD IS WORN ENOUGH TO WARN THE DRIVER. IN OTHER WORDS, YOU WILL RUIN YOUR BRAKE ROTORS BEFORE YOU ARE WARNED.*AK
2002 PT CRUISER LIMITED EDITION - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AFTER ONLY 44,000 MILES. REPAIR IS $2,500.00. *AK
WHILE BRAKING CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DECELERATE THE VEHICLE WITH NO PROBLEM. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE. *AK
202 PT CRUISER - ENGINE FIRE - CAR TOTALLED - REPORTED TO CHRYSLER AND GOT A LETTER SAYING THEY WERE CHECKING INTO IT - NOTIFIED THE GENERAL MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP - NOTIFIED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP - TRIED TO CHRYSLER SEVERAL TIMES BY E-MAIL, FAX AND PHONE - AS OF TODAY I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM. SAW AN ARTICLE IN THE SAC BEE THIS WEEKEND ABOUT OTHER ENGINE FIRES - WANT TO REPORT THIS ONE - WANT CHRYSLER TO MAKE THIS RIGHT - PLEASE HELP. I HAVE A FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT AND PICTURES. CHROME PLATING 5 SPOKE WHEELS CHROME PLATING HAS BUBBLED/CORRODED ON THE SEALING SURFACE OF THE TIRE BEAD. *PH THIS HAS CAUSED THE TIRE TO LEAK AIR. *NM

WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT. ALSO, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE JERKED. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK

WHEN DRIVING AND SUDDENLY STOPPING IS NEEDED, AND THE HORN IS NECESSARY TO BE USED, HORN ONLY BLEATS OUT A SPUTTERING NOISE.*AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES FAILED AT 24000 MILES. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *PH THE DEALER DID NOT COVER THE TOTAL COST. *SCC *JB
WHEN DOING THE 30,000 MILE OIL CHANGE/INSPECTION I NOTICED SPLITS IN THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS. THIS IS ONLY NOTICEABLE WHEN THE SUSPENSION IS UNSUPPORTED. THE CAR WAS DEALER SERVICED FOR THE RECALLS AND WAS ASKED FOR AN INSPECTION OF THE BUSHINGS WITH A WRITTEN RESPONSE A THIS TIME. DEALER MECHANIC SAID IT WAS NORMAL WEAR BUT RESPONSE WAS SUSPICIOUS IN NATURE AND NOT FORTHCOMING. THE CAR WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO MECHANIC AND STATED THAT THE BUSHINGS APPEARED TO BE COMING APART. THE CAR WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER WITH THIS CONCERN AND THEY THEN DECIDED TO REPLACE THE BUSHINGS UNDER THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY. NO PARTS RETAINED DUE TO DEALER POLICY THAT NO PARTS UNDER WARRANTY WORK WILL BE GIVEN TO THE OWNER. I REQUEST AN INVESTIGATION OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS FOR INFERIOR RUBBER AND DESIGN. IT APPEARS THAT IF THE BUSHINGS FAIL THE CONTROL ARM WILL FALL OFF AND MAY RESULT IN SEVERE INJURY. *JB
