WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONSUMER NOTICED FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION NUMEROUS TIMES. THE MECHANIC CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
BRAKES NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT APPROXIMATELY EVERY 11,000 MILES. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,480 MILES, NOT ONLY THE PADS NEEDED REPLACING ROTORS WERE WORN AS WELL. THE DEALER DID THIS UNDER WARRANTY STATING IT WAS EARLY WEAR AND TEAR. THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS AT APPROX. 22,080 MILES, THIS TIME IT WAS ONLY THE PADS BUT IT WAS CAUGHT EARLY WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER STEERING FLUID BECAUSE OF A BREAK IN THE HOSE THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGN OF A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES OR THE POWER STEERING. AND THE DEALER STATED THIS WAS NOT EARLY WEAR AND TEAR THIS TIME SO I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER WITH THIS ISSUE THEY STATED THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I MAY BE A WOMAN BUT I KNOW A THING OR TWO ABOUT CARS AND 11,000 MILES FOR BRAKES IS NOT "NORMAL' WEAR AND TEAR!*AK
ON JULY 10, 2003, MY WIFE WAS RETURNING HOME AFTER DONATING BLOOD. SHE PASSED OUT AND THE 2002 PT CRUISER THAT SHE WAS DRIVING HIT A SMALL PINE TREE WITH A GLANCING BLOW TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE FENDER, AND THEN HIT A POWER POLE HEAD ON. THE VEHICLE STRUCK THE POWER POLE HARD ENOUGH TO BREAK THE POLE AND BRING THE HIGH VOLTAGE WIRES DOWN ACROSS THE TOP OF THE CAR. ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, SHE WAS TRAVELING APPROX. 30 TO 35 MPH WHEN THE IMPACT OCCURRED.THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS WEARING HER SEAT BELT , HER HEAD SNAPPED FORWARD AND HIT SOMETHING (I ASSUME THE RIM OF THE STEERING WHEEL) WHICH CAUSED A BONE-DEEP GASH IN BER FOREHEAD REQUIRING 10 (TEN) STITCHES TO CLOSE.I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, AND THEY SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO LOOK AT THE CAR BEFORE REPAIRS WERE BEGUN. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT "....THE IMPACT, (WHICH DID NOT INVOLVE THE FRAME) DID NOT CREATE THE LONGITUDINAL (FRONT TO BACK) DECELERATION NECESSARY TO DEPLOY AIR BAGS.".IN FACT, THE FRAME WAS BENT. ACCORDING TO THE BODY SHOP MANAGER, THE RIGHT FRAME RAIL WAS MOVED BETWEEN 7 AND 10 MM.*AK MY CONTENTION IS THAT AN IMPACT SUFFICIENTLY HARD ENOUGH TO BREAK A POWER POLE SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THE AIR BAGS TO DEPOLY. I SAID THAT IN A LETTER BACK TO CHRYSLER AND HAVE RECEIVED NO FURTHER COMMUNICATION FROM THEM. TOTAL COST TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE TO THE PT CRUISER WAS $9,147.92
WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 5MPH ON A MAJOR STREET AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE FROM BEHIND. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF MY AIR CONDITIONER VENTS. I PULLED OVER AND OPENED MY HOOD. THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE VENT RIGHT BELOW THE PASSENGER SIDE OF WINDSHIELD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I CALLED 911 AND THE CAR BURNT BEFORE THE FIRE DEPT COULD GET THERE. THEY WERE A BLOCK AWAY. CHRYSLER CHOSE TO DO NOTHING. *LA
PREMATURE, UNEXPLAINED WEAR, REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF FRONT DISCS AND CALIPERS, BRAKES. *NLM
CONSUMER MADE RECALL REPAIR APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER REGARDING RECALL 02V215000. WHEN ARRIVED AT DEALERSHIP WAS INFORMED BY SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT RECALL COULD NOT BE DONE DUE TO "DEALER" ISSUES.*AK
I WAS DRIVING CA. 20-25 MPH OUT OF A PARKING LOT, AND HIT A YELLOW CEMENT STOP SIGN POST WHILE TURNING LEFT. I DID NOT SEE THE OBSTACLE BEFORE TURNING (BLIND SPOT?) AND I CRASHED INTO IT HEAD-ON. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DAMAGE DIDN'T LOOK TOO BAD, BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE OVER $3,200 DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END, INCLUDING NEW RADIATOR AND NEW AC UNIT. MY HEAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD VERY HARD BUT THE WINDSHIELD DIDN'T CRACK. I DIDN'T GO TO THE HOSPITAL BUT SHOULD HAVE BECAUSE I HIT MY HEAD HARD -- I SELF-TREATED WITH ICE BAGS FOR 4-5 HOURS AT A TIME FOR SEVERAL DAYS. I THOUGHT MAYBE I WASN'T GOING FAST ENOUGH FOR THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY, BUT HAVING SEEN ALL THE OTHER CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I AM CONVINCED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAGS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE. *LA
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK

AFTER SEVERAL FAILED REPAIR ATTEMPTS FERMAN REACQUIRED IT FROM HIM, REPLACING IT WITH A NEW ONE FROM THE LOT. I PURCHASED MY 2002 PT CRUISER TOURING LIMITED ON 5/20/2002 WITH ONLY 4,780 MILES FROM: FERMAN AUTOMOTIVE HTTP://WWW.FERMANAUTO.COM. MY PT CRUISER EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED ABOUT THE TIME OF THE FIRST OIL CHANGE. IT CONSUMED ABOUT ONE QUART OF OIL EVERY 500 MILES. THE FIRST ACTUAL ATTEMPT AT REPAIR FERMAN MADE WAS TO REPLACE THE VALVE COVER GASKET, THIS FAILED. SECOND REPAIR ATTEMPT WAS REPLACING THE ENGINE THEY TOLD ME. THEY ONLY REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK, AND THIS ALSO FAILED. I SENT A VEHICLE DEFECT NOTIFICATION TO THE MANUFACTURE AND ONE TO THE STATE TO START THE LEMON LAW PROCESS. CHRYSLER CORPORATE OFFICE SENT THE REGIONAL LEAD TECHNICIAN TO OVERSEE THE LAST REPAIR ATTEMPT. FERMAN TORE DOWN THE ENGINE AND INFORMED ME THAT THEY FOUND NINE BAD VALVE SEALS. FERMAN REPLACED THE ENTIRE HEAD. THEY ALSO REPLACED THE VALVE COVER, THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE. SOME 2001 PT CRUISERS HAVE A DEFECTIVE VALVE COVER THAT CAUSES THE PCV VALVE TO SUCK IN OIL. I DROVE ABOUT 370 MILES AND CHECKED THE OIL TO FIND IT CONSUMED A QUART OF OIL! THERE IS ALSO A SECONDARY ISSUE WITH THE A/C. THE A/C HAS A PERSISTENT MILDEW ODOR THAT THE DEALER HAS NOT RESOLVED. THEY HAVE TREATED THE A/C WITH AN ANTI-MILDEW AGENT SEVERAL TIMES YET IT STILL RETURNS. I AND MANY OTHERS SUFFER WITH TRYING TO RESOLVE THE MILDEW ODOR PROBLEM ALSO. I AM CURRENTLY STILL PERFORMING ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THE OIL CONSUMPTION HAS VARIED ONLY SLIGHTLY AND STILL CONTINUES. I HAVE CONTACTED AN ATTORNEY AND I AM WORKING WITH HIM TO HOPEFULLY RESOLVE THIS SOON. CHRYSLER STATED THEY WILL REPLACE OR PURCHASE MY VEHICLE BACK FROM ME, IF THE OIL CONSUMPTION CONTINUES. WHILE DRIVING AT 35-40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED SHOULDER AND CHEST INJURIES. *AK *SCC *JB

I FOUND OUT THAT HE HAD PURCHASED THE PT CRUISER AT FERMAN AUTOMOTIVE BRAND NEW. MR. BENNETT HAD THE EXACT SAME OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES. AFTER SEVERAL FAILED REPAIR ATTEMPTS AND CONTINUED CONTACT WITH THE CHRYSLER CORPORATE OFFICE THE DEALER CONTACTED HIM AND REPLACED HIS VEHICLE WITH A BRAND NEW ONE FROM THE LOT. I CONTACTED FERMAN AND THE CHRYSLER CORPORATE OFFICE INFORMING OF THIS MATTER. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ONLINE TO FIND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES WITH THE PT CRUISER. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS STRUGGLING WITH THEIR CHRYSLER DEALERS ON THIS SAME ISSUE. *NLM
THE CAR HAD A FITTING IN THE POWER ASSIST STEERING SYSTEM THAT WAS LOOSENING. IN A DRIVING CONDITION OF HIGH PRESSURE, THE SYSTEM DEVELOPED AN INSTANT, FAST LEAK, WHICH REACTED TO THE HIGH TEMPERATURES OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THIS REACTION ULTIMATELY STARTED THE FIRE, WHICH BURNED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE.*AK SAME INCIDENT AS VOQ#10039792 PER CONVERSATION WITH PAUL ABBEY ON 6/16/04. PE04029_CAT
MAY 17, 2003 WAS THE MOST RECENT EPISODE. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE 5 TIMES FOR OVERHEATING. THEY'VE BEEN UNABLE TO SATISFACTORILY FIX THE PROBLEM OR ADMIT IT'S A DEFECT. I'VE LODGED COMPLAINTS WITH CHRYSLER CORPORATE, BUT THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY RESOLUTION THEY'RE WILLING TO OFFER IS EXTENDED COVERAGE, WHICH WON'T KEEP MY CAR FROM OVERHEATING EVERY TIME I ATTEMPT A TRIP LONGER THAN 30 MINUTES.

HE WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK

AFTER 23,000 MILES THE BRAKE LIGHT BEGAN COMING ON ONLY WHEN TAKING OFF QUICKLY FROM A STOP. BRAKES DID NOT SQUEAL AND THERE WAS NO OTHER SIGN THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM EXCEPT FOR THE INTERMITTENT LIGHT COMING ON. I WENT TO THE DEALER TO GET MY OIL CHANGED AND HAD THEM CHECK THE LIGHT WHILE I WAS THERE. THEY TOLD ME THE BRAKE PADS WERE SLIGHTLY WORN, BUT THE ROTORS WERE DOWN TO 30% THICKNESS AND MUST BE REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THIS CAR IS ONLY A LITTLE OVER A YEAR OLD WITH ONLY 23,000 MILES ON IT! PLUS IT'S A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND I DOWN SHIFT A LOT TO SLOW THE CAR INSTEAD OF BRAKING. OTHER THAN THAT OCCASIONAL LIGHT, THERE WAS NO INDICATION WHATSOEVER THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. I NEVER IMAGINED THE ROTORS WOULD WEAR OUT THAT QUICKLY, THEREFORE I MIGHT HAVE JUST IGNORED THE INTERMITTENT LIGHT. THIS IS A SAFETY AND DESIGN ISSUE I THINK CHRYLSER NEEDS TO LOOK INTO. *JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN TRYING TO APPLY THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES THEY WILL LOCK UP, CAUSING VEHICLE TO HAVE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK

THE VEHICLE SEVERELY PULLED TO THE RIGHT, WHICH RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, AND THE MODULE FELL OUT ALSO.*JB

I WAS IN MY CAR, PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, WHEN THE ENTIRE FRONT OF MY CAR BURST INTO FLAMES. THE OCCUPANT COMPARTMENT WAS QUICKLY INVOLVED IN FIRE. I EXITED MY CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH A GARDEN HOSE. THE FLAMES SHOT UNDERNEATH MY CAR AND UP THE BACK END. I CALLED 911. I RECEIVED BURNS ON THE TOP OF MY HEAD AND SMOKE INHALATION DAMAGES TO MY LUNGS. *JB
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITHOUT WARNING ALL FOUR TIRES ARE WORN AND IT IS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE AND IT WILL BE HARD FOR THE CONSUMER TO CONTROL VEHICLE. DEALER NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE THE SIZE AND THE DOT NUMBER. TS
WHILE APPLYING HIS BRAKES THE VEHICLE BRAKES LOCK UP AND THE ABS LIGHT APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD. TS
I WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION 1/8/03. MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I AM NOW RECOVERING FROM A FRACTURED STERNUM INJURY. I HAVE GOTTEN NO RESPONSE AS TO WHY THE BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY...PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN INJURED IF THEY WORKED.
I KEPT SMELLING THIS STENCH ODOR IN MY CAR, IT APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER. I THOUGH MAYBE EITHER A CAT OR BABY SQUIRRAL GOT UP IN THE ENGINE & DIED. COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING, SO WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, SINCE WE COULD ONLY SMELL IT WHEN WE TURNED ON THE FAN. THE DEALER IN TAMPA KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, SAID MOLD WAS GROWING IN THE AIR VENTS, AND FLUSHED A CHEMICAL IN THERE TO KILL THE MOLD. THAT ONLY TEMPORARILY SOLVED THE PROBLEM, SO I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER, CLOSER TO MY HOME. TOLD THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM, NOT JUST MASK IT WITH CHEMICALS. THEY CLAIMED THE CAR WAS COMING FROM SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE AIR CONDITIONER & AIR VENTS, AND REFUSED TO FIX IT. I CALLED THE CHRYSLER HO, AND THEY SIDED WITH THE DEALERSHIP.
2002 PT CRUISER SPORT MODEL. CAR WOULD NOT START, WHEN SITTING FAR A FEW DAYS, HAD BEEN DRIVING CAR ALL DAY AND TURNED CAR OFF TO DO AN ERRAND AND CAR WOULD NOT START. CAR HAS LEFT ME STRANDED WHERE I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED SEVERAL TIMES. BOUGHT CAR NEW AND HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR 7 YEARS. KEPT BRINGING BACK TO THE DEALER AND COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS EVERY TIME. FINALLY FOUND A DEALER SERVICE MANAGER THAT KNEW THE PROBLEM. INSUFFICIENT QUALITY PARTS WERE BEING USED WHEN CHRYSLER WAS ABOUT TO GO BANKRUPT. THE BATTERY WIRES FROM THE BATTERY TO THE ALTERNATOR WERE NOT SUPPLYING ENOUGH VOLTAGE TO MAINTAIN ENOUGH TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. UPGRADED THE WIRES TO A HIGHER VOLTAGE AND HAVE NOT HAD THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 10 MONTHS. IT TOOK 7 YEARS TO FIND THE PROBLEM WHICH CAUSED PROBLEMS OF ME USING THE CAR. CHRYSLER USED LOW GRADE PARTS THROUGH OUT THE CAR AND PEOPLE ARE GETTING RID OF THEM AND THEN SOMEONE ELSE BUYS IT AND IT CONTINUES. I WILL NEVER BUY A CHRYSLER MADE CAR AGAIN, VERY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER CONSIDERING HOW MUCH I PAID FOR IT. WAS WAY OVER PRICED AT THE TIME I BOUGHT IT. I COULD BUY A MUCH BETTER CAR AND HIGHER END MODEL FOR WHAT I PAID FOR MY CAR. *TR
SINCE DAY ONE HAVE HAD A "WOBBLE" IN FRONT END. STEERING WHEEL MOVES BACK AND FORTH. FEEL VIBRATION THROUGH FLOOR BOARD. THIS AT 35-40 MPH. NO "WOBBLE" OR VIBRATIONS AT HIGHER SPEEDS. TIRES ROTATED AND FRONT END BALANCED THREE TIMES. NO HELP. DODGE DEALER NO HELP. THEY SAID IT WAS THE GOODYEAR TIRES AND TO REPLACE THEM WITH MICHELIN. WILL BE LOOKING INTO FRONT AXLE OR DRIVELINE PROBLEMS NEXT.
ON MY 2002 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER IT APPEARS THE GREASE FITTING ON BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT BALL JOINTS HAVE BEEN BROKEN OFF. I AM CONCERNED THAT A BROKEN GREASE FITTING CAN ACT AS A PATH FOR WATER AND OTHER CONTAMINANTS TO ENTER THE BALL JOINT AND CAUSE IT TO PREMATURELY WEAR OUT AND FAIL, POTENTIALLY CAUSING VEHICLE HANDLING PROBLEMS. I HEARD RUMORS THAT THE GREASE FITTINGS ARE PURPOSELY BEING BROKEN OFF AT THE CHRYSLER ASSEMBLY PLANT.
CAR WON'T START AT TIMES. HAD TO JUMP IT THEN IT STARTED. SOMETHING DRAINING THE BATTERY IF CAR SITS FOR A DAY OR TWO. CHANGED BATTERY 3 TIMES, STILL HAVING PROBLEM. BOUGHT CAR BRAND NEW, DEALER STILL CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. CAR NOT RELIABLE. STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS NOT LONG AFTER I BOUGHT IT. I'VE HAD TO CHARGE THE BATTERY AND THEN AFTER A FEW DAYS WOULD HAVE TROUBLE STARTING. *TR
WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE, WHICH ORIGINATED FROM THE IGNITION WIRING. *AK CONSUMER CUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND EVACUATED. THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMED BY THE FIRE BEFORE THE FIRE DEPT. ARRIVED. *PH *JB
THE REAR AND HATCH BACK DOORS LOCKED AND UNLOCK WITHOUT WARNING. CONSUMER NOTICED A BURNING RUBBER SMELL WHEN THE LOCKS ENGAGED.*JB
ON THE 28TH OF NOV 2002 MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. SHE REARENDED A PICKUP TRUCK AND IT WAS AROUND 45MPH. WHEN SHE STRUCK THE VEHICLE HER AIRBAGS NEVER WENT OFF. NOW SHE HIT THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT ON AND IF I'M RIGHT ANYTHING ABOVE 25 OR MORE THE AIRBAGS SHOULD DEPLOY. LUCKLY MY WIFE WASN'T INJURED BUT SHE COULD HAVE BEEN BADLY INJURED. I CALLED THE COMPANY AND ALL THEY TOLD ME WAS THAT WE SHOULD HAVE CALLED THEN IMMEDIATELY BUT WHEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT IT. I WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT ON THE DEFECT AIRBAGS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND CHRYSLER SAID THE SHOULD 'VE BEEN NOTIFIED SO THEY COULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE BUT THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE BODY SHOP RIGHT AWAY AND THEY STARTED TO REPAIR IT WHILE MY WIFE WAS AT WORK. THERE WAS $5,400 IN DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END, BASICALLY IT WAS COMPLETELY REPLACED BUT THE AIRBAGS NEVER WENT OFF IS WHAT HAS ME STUMPED. IT'S A 2002 PT CRUISER
CONSUMER STATE THAT THE SHIFTER LEVER BUTTON DOES NOT HAVE TO BE DEPRESS TO CHANGE BETWEEN REVERSE, NEUTRAL OR DRIVE. WHILE DRIVING THE LEVER WAS "TAPPED" INTO REVERSE. CONSUMER IS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY REGARDING ISSUE. MR
CONSUMER ADVISED THE ENGINE IS CONSUMING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL DURING NORMAL OPERATION. WITHIN 1K MILES CONSUMED 1.5 QUARTS AND WITHIN 3K MILES CONSUMED 2.5-3 QUARTS. CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT ENGINE MAY SEIZE WHILE DRIVING DUE TO EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION. DEALER ADVISED CONSUMER VEHICLE HAS NO OIL LEAKS AND THAT CONSUMPTION IS NORMAL. TS *JG

CONSUMER STATES: HAD 2 BRAND NEW TRANSMISSIONS INSTALLED, AND IT STILL LEAKED TRANSMISSION FLUID. NO LIGHTS CAME ON, FIRST TIME IT WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT. SECOND TIME IT WASN'T SHIFTING PROPERLY. CONSUMER TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, AND DEALER PUT IN ANOTHER TRANSMISSION.*AK
VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERS FOR POOR FUEL MILEAGE. VEHICLE IS GETTING LESS THAN 15 MILES PER GALLON, WHEN THE ADVERTISED MPG IS BETWEEN 19 AND 27. VEHICLE HAS A FOUL ODOR. BOTH DEALERS CLAIMED THAT THE COMPUTER DID NOT STORE ANY CODES AND THAT IT WAS RUNNING WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS.
ON SEP30, 2002 AND JAN 31,2003, THE BOTTOM MOTOR MOUNT BROKE ON OUR 2002 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. ON OCT 9, 2003, THE BOTTOM AND UPPER MOTOR MOUNTS FAILED CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.*AK

THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAS NOTHING UNDER IT TO PREVENT ITEMS ON THE REAR FLOOR AREA FROM ROLLING UNDER THE DRIVER'S FEET AND/OR THE PEDALS. TWICE, SODA BOTTLES THE KIDS HAVE DROPPED HAVE ROLLED UNDER MY BRAKE PEDAL. I CANNOT SEEM TO OBTAIN ANY ASSISTANCE FROM CHRYSLER REGARDING THIS ISSUE, AND ON MY LAST CALL TO THEM WAS TOLD IT WASN'T A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE OF IT ON MY FILE (WHERE NO ONE WOULD READ IT UNLESS I CALL IN). SHORTLY AFTER THE ODOMETER REACHED 500 MILES, THE ENGINE BEGAN IDLING ROUGHLY AND MISSING. CONCERN ABOUT ENGINE FAILURE CAUSING ACCIDENT. RETURNED TO 2 SEPARATE DEALERS. BOTH STATED THE COMPUTER SHOWED NO PROBLEM, BUT SERVICE REPS ADMITTED HAVING OTHER COMPLAINTS. BOTH NOTED CHRYSLER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEM.
HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY 02 PT CRUISER NOT STARTING FOR 7 YEARS AND WENT ON LINE AND FOUND OTHERS WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. CALLED CHYRSLER AND TOLD THEM THEY WERE GOING TO FIX AND PAY FOR PROBLEM. SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEMS WAS AND NOTICE CHRYSLER WAS PUTTING CHEAP PARTS ON THEIR VEHICLES. HE UPGRADED THE CABLES CONNECTING TO AND FROM THE BATTERY AND HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE. THE CABLES WERE UNDER VOLTED AND WEREN'T ABLE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY AND I GOT STRANDED SOMETIMES. CHRYSLER CALLED DEALER AND HAD THIS WORK DONE AT NO EXPENSE TO ME. IT'S NOT THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR OR THE OTHER CONNECTION I CAN'T REMEMBER. IT HAS BEEN 3 MONTHS AND I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE. PLEASE LET YOUR SERVICE MANAGER KNOW THAT IT IS THE LOW VOLTAGE BATTERY CABLES TO THESE AREAS. HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING, HESITATION STARTING OR WOULDN'T START AT ALL HAPPEN AFTER NOT DRIVING THE CAR SOMETIMES FOR 2 DAYS JUST AFTER BRINGING IT BACK TO THE DEALER. *TR
CONSUMER HEARD A NOISE AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. TURNED OFF ENGINE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CHRYSLER, AND CHRYSLER STATED CONSUMER RAN OVER SOME POWDER IN THE ROAD THAT CAUSED VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
