THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE KEY BECAME DIFFICULT TO REMOVE FROM THE IGNITION AND TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE PERSISTED UNTIL THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.

I WAITED SEVERAL MONTHS & CALLED THE 800 HOTLINE; RECORDING STATED PARTS WERE STILL ON BACKORDER. IT HAS NOW BEEN A COUPLE MONTHS & NO WORD. ARE PARTS STILL ON BACKORDER? WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG? INCIDENT WITH CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY 2008 2/9/15 BETWEEN 4:26-4:29 P.M. DRIVING SLOW AFTER JUST HAVING GOTTEN A GREEN LIGHT (25MPH OR LESS) HIT A BIG BUMP IN THE ROAD. EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP AND I FELT THE ENGINE LOSE POWER. THE VAN COASTED FOR A COUPLE SECONDS THEN SEEMED TO GAIN POWER BACK. WENT AROUND A BEND IN THE ROAD SLOWLY AND THE ENGINE LOST ALL POWER. IT DID NOT COME BACK AT ALL THIS TIME. I TRIED TO USE THE TURN SIGNAL TO GET TURN INTO A PARKING LOT. SIGNAL DID NOT WORK. NEITHER DID POWER STEERING. I COULD NOT GET VAN TO TURN INTO PARKING LOT. THERE WAS A MOVING VEHICLE BEHIND ME AND A PARKING LOT FULL OF CARS TO MY LEFT. I FOUND THE AUTOMATIC BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING. I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL HARD TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING AN ONCOMING VEHICLE AND THANKFULLY THE VAN COASTED INTO A SNOW BANK WHICH STOPPED IT FROM MOVING ANY FARTHER. TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VAN INTO PARK AND MAKE SURE IT REALLY WAS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I TOOK THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION AND WAITED JUST UNDER A MINUTE. I DECIDED TO PUT THE KEY BACK IN THE IGNITION AND SEE IF I COULD GET THE VAN TO START. IT STARTED WITHOUT ANY NOTICEABLE PROBLEMS?! CAR KEY' ATTACHED TO KEY RING WITH OTHER KEYS. DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE IN THE MAIL ABOUT RECALL. LOOKED UP POSSIBLE RECALLS AFTER THE FACT AND YES, THERE IS ONE. AND IT IS MUCH MORE SERIOUS THAN CHRYSLER LETS ON. TRIED TO CONTACT CHRYSLER BY PHONE SEVERAL TIMES AND CAN'T GET THROUGH. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN ONE OF MANY OTHER PLACES I HAD BEEN DRIVING THAT DAY THE ACCIDENT COULD'VE BEEN FATAL. *TR

INSANE HOW MUCH OIL MY VAN CONSUMES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES! NO LEAKS, NO BURNING, NO NOTHING. IT CONSUMES OVER A QUART WITHIN 800 MILES. AND WHEN I SAY OVER A QUART I MEAN 1 1/2 QUARTS OR MORE. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER WON'T STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND ADMIT ITS A SERIOUS ISSUE. *TR

APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AGO I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER, L25/NHTSA 14V-373, ADVISING THAT MY CAR COULD UNEXPECTEDLY SWITCH FROM "RUN" TO "ACCESSORY", CAUSING THE MOTOR TO SHUT OFF. THIS WOULD RESULT IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND THE INACTIVATION OF THE PASSIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS INCLUDING THE AIRBAGS. THE LETTER SAID THE PART TO FIX THIS POTENTIALLY FATAL PROBLEM WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND I WOULD BE NOTIFIED BY MAIL WHEN IT WAS. SIX MONTHS LATER AND STILL NO FIX. CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO INTRODUCE NEW CARS, BUT JUST DOESN'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO FIX MY DEFECTIVE CAR. A CALL TO THE CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER GETS ONLY A RECORDING, RECITING ALMOST VERBATIM, THE RECALL LETTER. IS MY, OR MY WIFE'S DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY GOING TO BE THE RESULT OF THIS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE DELAY IN CORRECTING A KNOW SERIOUS PROBLEM? CHRYSLER DECLINED COVERING MY CAR UNDER K19 RECALL BECAUSE IT WAS MANUFACTURED 2 DAYS BEFORE THE RECALL DATE AND ALSO THEY ALSO SAID MY CAR WAS SOLD ORIGINALLY IN OK. THE CAR RESIDES IN IL SINCE 2013. EVEN MY SERVICE ADVISOR THOUGHT IT WAS COVERED BY THE SAME RECALL. THE RECALL COVER BOTH OF THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS, THE LEFT ONE WAS REPLACED ALMOST A YEAR AGO ON MY EXPENSES IN CHRYSLER DEALER AND NOW AFTER 10 K MILES THE RIGHT WHEEL BEARING STARTED TO CREATE HUMMING AND GRINDING SOUND. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THAT THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME BECAUSE MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED 2 DAYS BEFORE THE K19 TIME FRAME. I DON'T MIND PAYING FOR REPAIRING MY CAR, BUT THIS MINIVAN TRAVELED TO THE DEALERSHIP 19 TIMES FOR MANY DIFFERENT EXPENSIVE REPAIRS SINCE AUGUST 2013, THIS IS TOO MUCH I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP IN THIS REGARD. *TR

OUR VEHICLE HAS FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS THAT ARE FAILING. WE FOUND THAT, UNBEKNOWNST TO US, CHRYSLER HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THIS PART OF THE VEHICLE TO 5 YEARS OR 90,000 MILES. WE CURRENTLY HAVE APPROXIMATELY 71,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND OUR WHEEL BEARINGS ARE BAD. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY BOTH CHRYSLER AND THE DEALER THAT WE ARE SOL BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A RECALL, BUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. NEVER MIND THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS ANNOUNCED/ THE ISSUE WAS KNOWN TO THE DEALER AND WE HAVE PUT MINIMAL MILES ON THE VAN IN THE 3.5 YEARS WE HAVE OWNED IT. *TR

THE VAN RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE DASH LIGHTS COME ON , SOMETIMES THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON AND THE VAN LOSES ALL POWER. IT MAKES IT INCREDIBLY HARD TO STEER AND NAVIGATE SAFELY. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AND AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AS WELL AS A MAIN STREET GOING 25 MPH.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS OCCURRED TO MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI-VAN: BOTH WHILE CAR WAS RUNNING AND WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION. HORN ACTIVATES, HEADLIGHTS FLICKER, WINDSHIELD WIPER BOTH FRONT AND REAR ACTIVATE, WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID EJECTS FROM VEHICLE ALSO FRONT AND BACK. DOOR LOCKS GO UP AND DOWN CAUSING DIFFICULTY BOTH ENTERING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. DASH LIGHTS FLICKER AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. *TR

WIFE STATED THAT SHE WENT TO HER CAR TO LEAVE FROM WORK AND ONCE SHE GOT CLOSE TO THE VEHICLE THE HORN BEGAN BLARING NON STOP, WIPERS RUNNING, FLUID SPURTING OUT, DASH LIGHTS GOING ON AND OFF AND DOOR LOCKS GOING UP AND DOWN. I REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AT WHICH POINT I NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAD CUT BACK ON AND WAS ACTUALLY RUNNING WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I DROVE IT HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. AT 3 AM THE SAME NIGHT WE WERE AWAKENED BY THE VEHICLES HORN BLARING IN THE DRIVEWAY. I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO BE NOTIFIED THAT THE FREQUENCY OPERATED BUTTON IGNITION KEY HAS COME IN. TODAY WHEN I WENT TO START THE VAN IT SEEMS THAT IT WANTS TO START BUT HESITATES I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES BUT IT KEPT DOING THE SAME THING. I ASKED IF THERE WAS A SOLUTION AND THE GENTLEMAN SAID IT COULD BE FROM 1-3 MONTHS BEFORE THE PART WAS AVAILABLE. THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION AND HE STATED IF I CHANGED THE IGNITION MODULE I WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED, I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK AT 50,000 MILES THE SWAY BAR ON THE RIGHT WAS REPLACED AND I STILL NEED TO REPLACE THE LEFT ONE. I USUALLY TRAVEL WITH MY GRANDCHILDREN AND IT HAS BEEN ONE ISSUE OR ANOTHER SINCE I BOUGHT IT.
