THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY A LOCAL DEALER, WHO INDICATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH AND MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE CONTACT HEARD A CHIME. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I WAS AT A RED LIGHT AND STARTED TO SMELL ANTIFREEZE. THOUGHT IT WAS THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND WASN'T TOO WORRIED IT WAS MY CAR AS THE TEMPERATURE WAS FINE. WHEN I GOT TO MY FINAL DESTINATION, I SMELLED ANTIFREEZE AGAIN AND LIFTED THE HOOD. SURE ENOUGH, A HOSE HAD BUSTED COOLANT AND IT SPEWED ALL OVER THE ENGINE AND ENGINE PARTS. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC TO HAVE FIXED AND HE MADE A STATEMENT THAT HE "COULDN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TOWN AND COUNTRY'S I'VE SEEN WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM." THE PART IS THE Y HOSE FOR THE HEATER/COOLANT HOSES THAT CONNECT TO THE BACK OF THE THERMOSTAT ON THE VEHICLE. *TR

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MECHANIC DID DIAGNOSTICS TO FIND THE EGR VALVE WAS NOT GOOD (CODE P0404). FROM RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, CHRYLSER HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE EGR VALVE. PAID $375 TO RESOLVE THIS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OFF ROAD AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER WHERE THE PCM MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. 3 OCCASIONS DRIVING MY 3 CHILDREN TO SCHOOL MY TOWN AND COUNTRY BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. THE STEERING FAILED, BRAKES AND THE CAR WENT UNRESPONSIVE. THE ELECTRIC STABILITY CONTROL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. TO REMEDY, I HAD TO PUT CAR IN PARK, AND RESTART VEHICLE. THE LAST INSTANCE WHEN THIS OCCURRED I ROLLED INTO A FOUR WAY STOP AS MY BREAKS DID NOT WORK. AN ONLINE SEARCH HAS SHOWN MANY OTHER HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE WITH THE DODGE CARAVAN AND TOWN & COUNTRY BOTH MADE BY CHRYSLER. TOOK VAN TO DEALER WHO SAID DIAGNOSTIC TEST SHOWED NOTHING (OTHER PEOPLE REPORT THIS SAME EXPERIENCE). THEY UPDATED THE PCM SOFTWARE. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE A SOFTWARE UPDATE WOULD RENDER MY CAR SAFE TO DRIVE AND BE THE FACTOR THAT CAUSED IT'S WHOLE SYSTEM, BRAKES INCLUDED TO SHUT DOWN. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT. MY 2008 MINIVAN STARTED GOING ELECTRICALLY HAYWIRE WHILE DRIVING AND I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO A NEARBY DEALER. I PULLED INTO SERVICE AREA WITH HORNS BLOWING, WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND FLUID GOING FULL TILT CONSTANTLY, WITH ALL SWITCHES IN THE OFF POSITION. I HAD TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE SO THE CAR WOULDN'T GET AWAY FROM ME AND PLOW INTO SOME ONE OR THING! AFTER I GOT INTO THE SERVICE AREA EVERYTHING STOPPED. ON LINE AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS FROM OTHER OWNERS. *TR
I HAVE AN OIL BURNING PROBLEM. I HAVE NO LEAKS BUT MY VAN IS BURNING OIL WAY BEFORE 3000 MILES. DOWN BELOW WHEN IT ASK FOR A DATE. I ENTER THE TIME I PURCHASED THE VAN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE DOOR HARNESS WAS CORRODED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. LATER, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR ADDITIONAL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE REPAIRS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE A CHRYSLER 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY WITH 66000 MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING MY VAN AT APPROX 35 MILES PER HOUR THE VAN SUDDENLY FLASHED THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND SLIPPERY CONDITION LIGHT. THE VAN LOST THE ABILITY TO PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL AND MAKE IT GO. IT CONTINUED TO IDLE DOWN THE ROAD, BUT THE GAS PEDAL MADE NO DIFFERENCE ON THE SPEED I WAS GOING. I IDLED INTO A DRIVEWAY, TURNED THE VAN OFF, LET IT SIT FOR APPROX 30 MINUTES, THEN RESTARTED THE VAN. THE VAN STARTED FINE, BUT WHILE DRIVING IT HOME IT DID THE SAME THING. I IDLED THE LAST 1/2 MILE HOME TO GET THE VAN IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE NEXT MORNING I MADE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND DROVE THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT STOPPED RUNNING ONE TIME ON THE DRIVE, WHICH IS APPROX 5 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOUSE. I AGAIN HAD TO STOP THE VEHICLE, PUT IT IN PARK, AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID THAT IT WAS A WIRE GOING TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. I SEE THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS ISSUE IN THE 2010 TOWN AND COUNTRY AND DIDN'T KNOW IF THE SAME BULLETIN APPLIED TO THE 2008. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VAN LOSES ALL ABILITY TO GET UP AND GO. HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT LOST ALL POWER I COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT! WITHIN THE PAST MONTH WE HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE EGR VALVE, THE POWER STEERING FLUID LINE, AND THE POWER HARNESSES ON THE DOOR. THEY ARE NOW TAKING APART THE ENGINE BECAUSE IT IS MAKING A "LIFTER TAPPING" NOISE. *TR
KEY WILL NOT RELEASE FROM IGNITION CANNOT TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF, HAVE TO WAIT MINUTES TO SOMETIMES HOURS FOR KEY TO BE RELEASED TO TURN KEY TO OFF POSITION AND TAKE KEY OUT. HAVE HAD MY BATTERY DIE A FEW TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. *TR
THIS IS MORE A DRIVE-ABILITY PROBLEM RATHER THAN A SAFETY PROBLEM. MY VEHICLES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE CODE SAID THE EGR VALVE WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I WENT LOOKING FOR A PART I FOUND THAT THERE WERE SO MANY OF THESE FAILURES THAT THE PART WOULD BE BACK ORDERED AND I COULD NOT BE TOLD WHEN THE PART WOULD BE IN. THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM BACK IN 2005 AND CHRYSLER NEVER FIXED IT. BECAUSE OF THE EGR FAILURE THE VEHICLE GETS POORER GAS MILEAGE AND PRODUCES MORE POLLUTION. *TR
THE TIRE VALVES JUST GIVE OUT. THE FIRST TIME I WAS PUTTING AIR IN AND THE VALVE BROKE AND LEFT THE AIR OUT. YESTERDAY I WAS CLEANING THE VEHICLE AND THE VALVE JUST BROKE UPON BEING TOUCHED WITH A BRUSH AND THE AIR GUSHED OUT THE TIRE. I HAVE REPLACED THESE VALVES THREE TO FOUR TIMES. UNDER WARRANTY AT FIRST. THE COST OF $67.00 IS ALMOST THE COST OF A TIRE. FOR SAFETY REASONS THEY WILL ONLY PLACE THE VALVES IN THAT ARE MONITORED. I'VE NEVER HAD A VALVE BREAK ON REGULAR VALVES, I CAN IMAGINE IF RIDING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY GRANDCHILDREN AND THIS VALVE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY ANY DEBRIS IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A BLOW OUT AND ME LOSING CONTROL OF THE CAR AND POSSIBLY WRECKING. JUST TO MONITOR AIR PRESSURE SEEMS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MAINTAINING THE AIR IN THE TIRE, WHAT IS MORE OF A SAFETY FACTOR, KNOWING WHETHER YOUR TIRE NEEDS AIR OR LOSING ALL THE AIR IN THE TIRE WHEN THE VALVE GIVES WAY.

I TURNED THE CAR OFF AFTER A SHORT DRIVE AND LEFT THE CAR PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, UNLOCKED, WITH THE KEY INSERTED IN THE IGNITION. I CAME BACK FEW MINUTES LATER AND THE CAR WAS LOCKED WITH THE KEY INSIDE. THANK GOODNESS IT HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY SO I WENT BACK INSIDE THE HOUSE, GRABBED THE SPARE KEYS AND OPENED THE CAR. *TR
AT LOW DRIVING SPEED THE ENGINE DID NOT MAINTAIN IDLE AND STALLED. DUE TO THE ENGINE STALL, THE BRAKES, AND POWER STEERING WERE DISABLED AND THE CAR CONTINUED IN MOTION MOVING FORWARD AT APPROXIMATELY 8 TO 10 MPH. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND COAST TO A STOP WITH ONLY THE VERY LIMITED STEERING AND BREAKING POWER REMAINING. ONCE AT A FULL STOP THE CAR WAS ABLE TO RESTART ONCE THE SHIFT LEVER WAS PLACED IN THE PARK POSITION. SINCE THIS INITIAL INCIDENT, THE SAME STALL PROBLEM HAS RECURRED ABOUT TWENTY TIMES IN TOTAL FOR TWO DIFFERENT DRIVERS. EACH TIME THE CAR HAS BEEN IN MOTION AT LOW SPEED AND USUALLY WITH THE DRIVER BACKING OFF THE ACCELERATOR WITH THE DRIVER'S FOOT MOVING OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND ONTO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER MORE THAN ONCE AND IT WAS STATED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE ISSUE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED WHEN TEST DRIVEN. ALSO IT WAS STATED THAT NO FAULT WAS RECORDED BY THE STANDARD COMPUTERIZED TEST OF THE CAR. *TR

WHILE DRIVING THE REAR RIGHT TIRE VALVE BROKE OFF AND THE TIRE IMMEDIATELY DEFLATED, HAD MY SPEED BEEN GREATER OR HAD OTHER CARS BEEN NEAR AN ACCIDENT WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE HAPPENED. WHILE INSPECTING THE VALVES ON THE OTHER THREE TIRES ONE MORE FELL OFF IN MY HAND. WE DIDN'T INTERNET SEARCH AND THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER PEOPLE. WALKED OUT TO CAR AND IT STARTED FREAKING OUT. LIGHTS FLASHING, WIPERS ON, WASHER FLUID DISPERSING, HORN BLOWING ETC. IT WOULD NOT STOP. HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO GET THINGS TO STOP. WHEN I TRY TO RECONNECT IT STARTS BACK AGAIN. *TR

JANUARY 29TH, OPERATOR WAS DRIVING 25 MPH, ALL DASH LIGHTS BLINKED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ESP, BRAKE, ENGINE,AND AIRBAG LIGHTS, AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINED ON, WIPERS DEPLOYED AND RPM GAUGE REDUCED TO 0 FOR 5 SECONDS. PULLED OVER TURNED IGNITION OFF, OPENED DOOR, SHUT DOOR RESTARTED VEHICLE. THE ABOVE REPEATED ITSELF, WITH MORE ERRORS, NOW THE DRIVER WINDOW CONTROLS DID NO LONGER WORK. THIS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY FOR 5 FULL MINUTES BEFORE RESUMING NORMAL OPERATION. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
SAME AS COMPLAINT NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10496186 AND NHTSA ID NUMBER: 1049507. THE PROBLEM WAS A DEFECTIVE WIRE HARNESS IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. MY VEHICLE HAD THE AIR BAG LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY GOING ON/OFF IN ADDITION THE THESE ISSUES STATED IN THESE TWO COMPLAINTS. I CALLED CHRYSLER THEN TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND SAID TO RE-CHECK SAFETY RECALL K25 WHICH I ALREADY HAVE HAD COMPLETED THAT HAD CAUSED THE AIR BAG LIGHT TO GO ON/OFF . AS IT TURNS OUT, BECAUSE THE DRIVERS SIDE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOW SWITCHES DID NOT WORK, THE MECHANIC FOUND THE WIRING HARNESS IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED IT. NOW ALL THE CRAZY FLASHING AIR BAG LIGHT, DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, INTERIOR LIGHTING, ECT ECT HAVE STOPPED. MY 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY HAD THE WIRING HARNESSES RECALLED FOR THE SLIDING SIDE DOORS AND I ALREADY HAD THOSE HARNESSES REPLACED. THIS DRIVER DOOR HARNESS PROBLEMS WERE MUCH WORSE BECAUSE I NEVER KNEW IF THE AIR BAG HAD FAILED OR WAS WORKING PROPERLY. EVERYTHING WORKS OK NOW THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED. *TR

AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES HOME FROM WORK, I PARKED THE VAN IN MY DRIVEWAY, TOOK THE KEYS, AND WENT INSIDE. AFTER 6 WEEKS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT THE SLIDING DOORS WERE NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY. THEY WOULD OPEN OR CLOSE ON THEIR OWN. IT STARTED OFF BEING ONLY ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH TO NOW AN ALMOST EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE ROAD I HEAR A LIGHT CLICK AND THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN, AND STEERING BECOMES LOCKED AND I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VAN TO AVONDALE DODGE AND THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AS THEY FOUND IT WAS CRACKED THIS WAS IN OCTOBER OF 2013, SO MY CLAIM WAS CLOSED WITH CHRYSLER. VAN SHUT DOWN AGAIN ON 12-22-13 WHILE LOOKING AT CHRISTIMAS LIGHTS IN MY COMMUNITY. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OTHER INCIDENTS SINCE 12-22-13 THAT MY VAN HAS SHUT DOWN THE LATEST BEING ON 6-4-14 WHILE DRIVING ON THE 101 FREEWAY GOING 65 MILES AN HOUR. I HAD TO THINK QUICK AND I REMEMBER THAT MY SON WHO HAS A 2005 DODGE RAM HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH HIS TRUCK AND HE TOLD ME TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTART THE VAN AS IT WAS COASTING AND THEN PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE. MY WIFE WAS STOPPED ON THE I-94 FREEWAY IN DETROIT, MI. A VEHICLE WAS CLOSING IN BEHIND HER AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. HER VEHICLE THEN LUNGED FORWARD AND HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER. THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE, YET NONE OF THE AIRBAGS IN THE VEHICLE DEPLOYED. MY WIFE'S HEAD CONTACTED THE STEERING WHEEL. SHE WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL FOR EVALUATION. SHE CURRENTLY HAS A FRACTURED NOSE, AND SEVERELY SWOLLEN/BLACK&BLUE EYES. WE HAVE 2 CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 5, WHO THANKFULLY WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE. THE FIREMAN ON THE SCENE HAD STATED THAT HE HAS BEEN WORKING AS A FIREMAN FOR 18 YEARS, AND HE HAS NEVER SEEN A VEHICLE WITH AS MUCH FRONTAL DAMAGE IN WHICH THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WE HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH OUR INSURANCE COMPANY, AND FULLY EXPECT THE VEHICLE TO BE TOTALED OUT DUE TO THE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE.
