CHRYSLER RECALLED 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY BUT DID NOT INCLUDE OUR VIN NUMBER. WE USE OUR VEHICLE WITH 2 CHILDREN IN VAN. IT SAID THE AIRBAG MAY DEPLOY AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING. UPDATED IVOQ 08/29/11 *TR
2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LOST POWER- STALLED WHEN ACCELERATING ON HIGHWAY RAMP. THE STALLS HAVE HAPPENED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES BUT NOTHING LIKE IN THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE POWER STEERING WAS LOST AND IT WOULDN'T RESTART UNTIL IT WAS BACK IN PARK. *TR
BRAKES ON THE 2008 MODEL TOWN AND COUNTRY LIMITED ARE VERY POOR. I HAVE HAD THEM REPLACED TWICE NOW. ONCE AT 8000 AND NOW AT 26000 MILES. WE WERE ON OUR WAY FOR A FAMILY OUTING 5 OF US IN THE VAN. DRIVING TO GREAT AMERICA. WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE REAR BRAKES STARTED SQUEALING AGAIN. THEN TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THE HIGHWAY WAS HAVING CONSTRUCTION DONE SO THE RIGHT LANE WAS CLOSED AS WE PASSED AN AREA. SO I PULLED OVER TO THE FAR RIGHT SIDE. WELL AFTER WE PASSED THAT AREA OF HIGHWAY THE WORKERS DEEMED THAT THE RIGHT LANE HAD NOBODY PULLED OVER SO THEY SWITCHED THE SIGNS TO MAKE THE LEFT LANE CLOSED. THUS SENDING ALL OF THE TRAFFIC CARS TRUCKS WHAT EVER DIRECTLY INTO MY PATH AS I LAY UNDER MY VAN LOOKING TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED.LUCKILY OTHER PEOPLE HAD NOTICED AND DIRECTED THEMAROUND ME.SO NO ONE GOT HURT THIS TIME. BUT ANOTHER VERY COSTLY REPLACEMENT.. I BELIEVE A RECALL IS IN ORDER THERE HAS BEEN 227 BRAKE COMPLAINTS WHEN FILED 8-4-11. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MIDDLE ROWS PASSENGER SEAT BELT WOULD NOT LATCH INTO ITS BUCKLE. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY OR RECALL. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 32,000.
AFTER DROPPING OFF PASSENGER AFTER LUNCH THE HORN BLEW INTERMITTENTLY AND WIPERS CAME ON FOR A FEW SECONDS AND STOPPED ON MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY THAT I BOUGHT A YEAR AGO AS A CERTIFIED PREOWNED. DROVE ACROSS PARKING LOT AND HORN BLEW ONCE OR TWICE AND DECIDED TO HEAD TO DEALERSHIP (40 MIN AWAY) FOR DIAGNOSIS. WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY 20 MINTUES LATER AND HORN BLEW CONTINUOUSLY, WIPERS GOING, WASHER FLUID SPRAYING, VEHICLE SHUT OFF, LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. HAD TO COAST TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALL TOW TRUCK WHILE WAITING IN 95 DEGREE HEAT WITH NO AIR. THANK GOD I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. DEALERSHIP FOUND 11 CODES THAT HAD TO BE RESET AND DROVE IT AROUND AND DIDN'T COME BACK ON. THEY DIDN'T KNOW CAUSE OF PROBLEM BUT SUGGESTED A TIP MODULE BUT SAID THAT WASN'T FOR SURE THE ISSUE. EXCELLENT DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT DIDN'T WANT TO JUST THROW NEEDLESS PARTS AND MONEY AT A POTENTIALLY FATAL PROBLEM HAD IT HAPPENED ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. SO NOW WE'RE WAITING TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, A BURNING SMELL WAS EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE AND THE PASSENGER DOOR CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 16,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY TOURING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, HE HEARD A RATTLING NOISE IN THE FRONT BRAKE AREA. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE TOO SMALL FOR THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT HAD TO CHANGE THE BRAKES AND ROTORS EVERY 14,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 40,200 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
IN JULY 2011, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO CHRYSLER TO REPORT A BAD PULSATION FEELING WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. WE HAD 41,761 MILES ON VEHICLE AND ON A TRIP FROM NEW JERSEY TO PENNSYLVANIA, WE FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STRUGGLING TO BRAKE FAST ENOUGH. CHRYSLER STATED THAT I NEEDED NEW FRONT ROTORS. THEY REPLACED THEM AND MY COST WAS CLOSE TO $400. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, ON 8/16/11, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO CHRYSLER AGAIN TO REPORT THE SAME BAD PULSATION FEELING WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STRUGGLING TO BRAKE FAST ENOUGH. I WAS INFORMED BY CHRYSLER THAT THE LEFT FRONT ROTOR WAS SCORED AND PITTED AND THE COATING FAILED FOR MOPAR RO 180802. ON 8/16/11, THEY REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT ROTOR. ONE YEAR LATER MY VEHICLE HAS 53,754 MILES ON IT. ON 8/30/12, I BRING MY VEHICLE TO CHRYSLER DUE TO A VERY HIGH PITCHED BRAKE SQUEAL. CHRYSLER COMPLETES A FULL BRAKE INSPECTION AND INFORMS ME THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ARE FINE AND DO NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. ABOUT 4 DAYS LATER, THE HIGH PITCHED SQUEAL FROM MY BRAKES IS LOUDER AND OCCURRING MORE. I AM FEELING A BAD PULSATION FEELING WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. I AM TOLD I NEED NEW FRONT ROTORS. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE ROTORS AFTER 12,000 MILES. CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL THE BRAKES IN THE 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY MODEL. BRAKES ARE ONE OF, IF NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF A VEHICLE THAT SHOULD BE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED 1-2 TIMES PER YEAR. I DRIVE UNDER NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS ON A MIX OF HIGHWAY AND SOME CITY ROADS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD ILLUMINATE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL SPORADICALLY. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE COMPUTER CONTROL MODULE SEVERAL TIMES HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED BUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,019.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND HORN THEN BEGAN TO REPEATEDLY TURN ON AND SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE OFFICIAL FAILURE TESTING INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,100.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND THE HORN ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY IN ORDER TO DEACTIVATE THE HORN AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILES WERE 45,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE SPARE TIRE DETACHED FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE PLASTIC HARNESS, WHICH HELD THE SPARE TIRE IN PLACE, WAS FRACTURED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE METHOD OF REMOVING THE SPARE TIRE WAS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE TIRE WOULD HAVE HAD TO HAVE BEEN DRAGGED OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE, POSITIONING ONESELF VERY CLOSE TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I RECEIVED MAILED INFORMATION ON SAFETY RECALL K25 FOR A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY, WHICH STATED THAT AN HVAC DRAIN TUBE AND GROMMET COULD LEAK AND, IN PART, CAUSE THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON. SHORTLY AFTER I RECEVED THIS NOTICE, THE LIGHT DID COME ON, SO I TOOK THE VAN IN FOR REPAIRS. THE RECALL WORK WAS SUPPOSEDLY DONE BUT THE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND NOW THE DEALERSHIP IS ASKING FOR $100 TO LOOK AT IT. BASED ON PREVIOUS DEALINGS WITH THEM I KNOW THIS GARAGE IS DISHONEST AND I QUESTION WHETHER THE WORK WAS EVEN COMPLETED. IS THERE A WAY I CAN GET THIS REPAIRED PROPERLY? *TT
EARLY BRAKE WEAR - I BOUGHT A 2008 CHRYSLER T&C IN DECEMBER 2010 WITH APPROXIMATELY 26,500 MILES. THE SERVICE HISTORY INDICATES THAT IT HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED WHEN IT WAS ONLY A YEAR OLD AND HAD 11,996 MILES. WE HAVE SINCE HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT PADS AT 27,000 MILES AND AT 28,500 WE ARE NOW HAVING TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE PADS WHICH ARE WEARING UNEVENLY AND ALL FOUR ROTORS. *KB
AFTER ARRIVING AT WORK AND ENTERING MY OFFICE, I HEARD A HORN CONTINUOUSLY GOING OFF AND REALIZED IT WAS COMING FROM MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHEN I WENT OUTSIDE, I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE ON AT A HIGH SPEED, AS WELL AS MY LIGHTS. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INSIDE WAS FLASHING AND THE HAZARD LIGHTS WERE FLASHING. I THEN REALIZED THAT THE VAN WAS ACTUALLY ON AND RUNNING... WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION! SOMEHOW IT HAD STARTED ITSELF UP (MINE DOES NOT HAVE THAT FEATURE). I TRIED EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OF TO GET IT TO STOP BY TURNING ON THE IGNITION WITH THE KEY, PRESSING AND HOLDING THE BRAKE - NOTHING WORKED. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES, A COWORKER CAME TO HELP ME DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BUT JUST BEFORE WE DISCONNECTED IT THE VAN STOPPED AND IT WAS QUIET AGAIN. I CRANKED THE CAR UP WITH THE KEY AND EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE NORMAL. I HAVE YET TO DRIVE IT SO I WILL SEE IN A FEW HOURS IF ANYTHING IS AFFECTED. I PLAN ON CALLING MY DEALERSHIP TODAY ABOUT THIS PROBLEM! *KB
REAR SHOCKS (OEM SELF LEVELING) BOTH LEAKING AT 20,000 MILES. 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LIMITED. VERY HARD TO CONTROL VEHICLE ON TURNS. *KB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE HORN WOULD SOUND, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD TURN ON, AND THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID WOULD ACTIVATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
IGNITION FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 40 IN RALEIGH, NC. HAD JUST CROSS OVER BRIDGE AND NOTICED A BUMP IN THE ROAD WHEN GOING FROM BRIDGE TO ROAD. IGNITION SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, HAD TO MOVE TO SHOULDER, PLACE IN PARK AND TO RE-START VEHICLE. ON 07/27/2011, IGNITION FAILED WHILE MAKING LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS DIVIDED HIGHWAY (WITH GREEN TRAFFIC LIGHT ARROW). BOTH INCIDENTS CAME WITHOUT WARNING, AND ALTHOUGH THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER EXPERIENCING A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED ON SMOOTH SURFACE. AUTOPARK CHRYSLER JEEP (CARY, NC) SERVICE THE VEHICLE ON 07/28/2011 AND REPLACED THE "WIN" MODULE, STATING THEY BELIEVED THE KEYLESS IGNITION WAS NOT MAINTAINING CONNECTION WITH THE KEY FOB. THEY ALSO NOTED THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE, AND IT IS A RECALL ITEM ON SIMILAR DODGE GRAND CARAVAN MODELS (2010 AND 2009) WITH IDENTICAL IGNITION AND KEY FOB DESIGN. PLEASE TAKE ACTION AS OUR FAMILY NARROWLY ESCAPED POTENTIALLY TRAGIC ACCIDENTS AND ALTHOUGH OUR DEALERSHIP FELT COMPELLED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, IT COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE AT ANYTIME WITHOUT ANY WARNING, AND THE RESULTS COULD BE FATAL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V611000 (EQUIPMENT: ELECTRICAL: AIR CONDITIONER) HOWEVER, THE CONTACTS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THEY OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
VAN STALLED UNEXPECTEDLY ON A HIGHWAY ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, RESULTING IN A TRAFFIC JAM. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GOES HAYWIRE UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING, RESULTING IN THE HORN GOING OFF FOR MINUTES, FRONT AND REAR WIPER BLADES AND WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID GOING OFF, HEAD LIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS GOING ON AND OFF. VAN WILL NOT TURN OFF WHEN IGNITION SWITCH IS PUT ON OFF AND KEY REMOVED. THE VAN HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEAL SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. BOTH CHILDREN AND MYSELF HAVE BEEN IN THE CAR EXPOSING US TO POTENTIAL SAFETY RISK AND LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS. *TR
PROBLEM IS THE TIRE VALVE STEMS ON THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM BROKE OFF. THIS OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING AFTER A 20 MILE DRIVE AND HAD BEEN SETTING IN A PARKING LOT FOR 10 MIN. THE END OF THE VALVE STEM JUST BLEW OFF. GOOD THING WE WERE NOT GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT 70 MPH. I SAW ON THE INTERNET HUNDREDS OF THESE HAVE BEEN OCCURRING. THIS COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL AND SAFETY FROM BEING STRANDED OR WORSE. THESE NEED TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH ONES THAT DO NOT CORRODE. I PUT NEW TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO TO BE SAFE AND NOW I CAN NOT TRUST A SIMPLE VALVE STEM !!!!!!!!!
FOR THE SECOND TIME, THE VALVE STEM ON MY 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY BROKE. THIS TIME IT RESULTED IN A TIRE GOING FLAT WHILE GOING ABOUT 15 MILES AN HOUR. FORTUNATELY WE COULD GET OFF THE ROAD AND AAA CAME TO PUT ON THE SPARE TIRE. WE REPLACED THE STEM BUT WILL NEED AN EXPENSIVE SENSOR TO BE REPLACED. CHRYSLER WILL NOT FIX THIS PART AS PART OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THE NEXT TWO STEMS COULD GO AND CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
FOR SECOND TIME IN TWO YEARS AT 30,000 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE MY FRONT BRAKES AND GRIND ROTORS. ON 6/29/2011 2008 CHRYSLER T&C TOURING 3.8L WENT TO WOLBERT AUTO BODY IN PITTSBURGH, PA FOR BRAKE WARNING SQUEELERS AND A TIRE ROTATION. UPON PAYING FOR FRONT BRAKES, MACHINING OF FRONT ROTORS AND ROTATING TIRES MY MECHANIC INDICATED ON MY INVOICE THAT BOTH FRONT VAVE STEMS BAD. TOOK CAR TO MICKS ODGE CHRYSLER IN ROBINSON TWP., PA ON 7/7/2011 (NOTE THIS WAS SCHEDULED AND IT WAS MADE CLEAR TO CHRYSLER THAT THE TWO VALVE STEMS WERE CORRODED AND CRACKED). CAR PICKED UP FROM FRANK STIFTER WHERE HE INDICATED ONLY ONE VALVE STEM WAS BAD. I ASKED THAT HE SHOW ME WHAT HE SAW AND SHARED WITH FRANK THAT OUR MECHANIC WARNED AND DOCUMENTED TWO FRONT STEMS BAD. HE INSISTED ONLY ONE AND SHOWED ME. AFTER LEAVING I WENT BACK TO WOLBERT AUTO WHO SPECIFICALLY SHOWED ME THAT NOT ONLY WERE THE FRONT TWO CORRODED AND CRACKED (NUT AND VALVE) BUT THAT THE BACK TWO WERE ALREADY CORRODING AND COULD SOON CRACK. SAME DAY 07/07/11 CALLED CHRYSLER AND INDICATED THEY MAY WANT TO REPLACE ALL FOUR AND THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. LATER ON 07/07/11 TOOK TWO DAUGHTERS TO MOVIES AND TIRE FAILS ON EXIT. PATRON TOOK ME TO THEATER, 911 CALL MADE, TOW REQUESTED, HUSBAND NOTIFIED TO RESUCE US. ALL IN ONE DAY. THANK GOODNESS I WAS ON A RAMP AND NOT 79 S AT A MUCH HIGHER SPEED. MY CHILDREN WERE DEVISTATED. NOTE ALSO I TOLD FRANK THAT I HAD CONCERN FOR SAFETY WITH THREE KIDS AND PLAYED OUT A SENARIO OVER THE PHONE. WITHIN 90 MIN. OF OUR CONVERSTAION THE SCENARIO BECAME A FEARFUL REALITY. FRANK SAID I NEEDED TO CONTACT CHRYSLER AND THAT IT IS NOT THE JOB OF MICKS JOB TO DO SO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LAST LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE WAS THE (NO BUS) LIGHT, WHICH CAUSES THE HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS TO FLASH. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS IN WHICH A WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
