FAILURE OF 3 TPMS VALVE STEMS.(TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSOR) TPMS IS MOUNTED TO THE WHEEL WITH A ALUMINUM VALVE STEM AND ALUMINUM NUT. THE NUTS AND STEMS ARE CORRODING AND THE NUT IS CRACKING. THE SENSOR AND STEM IS HELD IN PLACE BY AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRE BUT IT BEGINS LEAKING AIR AFTER THE NUT CRACKS. TIRE LEAKS 1-2 PSI PER MILE AT 65MPH. CAN NOT ADD AIR TO TIRE BECAUSE WHEN YOU PUSH ON THE VALVE STEM IT PUSHES INTO THE RIM. 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WITH 30 THOUSAND MILES. THE TIRES ON THE VAN HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN REPLACED YET. VALVE STEMS ON THE SENSORS ARE BARE ALUMINUM WITH NO CORROSION PROTECTION. TPMS APPEAR TO BE MADE BY SIEMENS VDO AND ARE NOT MADE BY CHRYSLER. STEMS NEED TO MADE FROM A MORE CORROSION RESISTANT METAL OR NEED TO BE ANODIZED. CHRYSLER HAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY SO FAR BUT VALVE STEMS/SENSOR DON'T LAST 3 YEARS. *TR
AFTER EVERY FUEL IN THE LAST YEAR FUEL SPITS BACK OUT AT ME AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. *JS
I WAS DRIVING THE VAN HOME GOING ABOUT 45 MPH, WHEN ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH FLASHED ON AND THE GAUGES ALL SHOT UP. I LOST MY POWER STEERING, AND REALIZED THAT THE VAN WAS NO LONGER RUNNING. I TRIED MY BEST TO PULL IT OFF OF THE ROAD, BUT IT WAS DIFFICULT WITHOUT POWER STEERING. THE DASH LIGHTS WERE ALL STILL ON AT THIS POINT. ONCE I WAS SEMI-SAFELY OFF THE ROAD, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT THE IGNITION OFF. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE IGNITION BACK ON, AND IT SEEMED FINE. I CONTINUED HOME. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. AFTER ABOUT THE 3RD TIME, I HAD A LOCAL STORE SERVICE IT. WE DID NOT HAVE A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME. THEY COULD GET NO ERROR CODE IN THE DIAGNOSTICS, BUT TOLD ME THE THROTTLE PLATE SENSOR (?) NEEDED TO BE CLEANED, AND PERHAPS THAT WOULD HELP. IT DID NOT. IT CONTINUES TO DO THIS, AND THERE IS NEVER ANY WARNING. SO FAR, IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED TO ME GOING 45 OR SO. I'VE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS, AND OF COURSE THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I TOLD HER ALL SHE HAD TO DO WAS GOOGLE IT. THAT'S WHAT I DID. THEIR ADVICE WAS TO EITHER HAND IT OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY COULD GET IT TO MALFUNCTION (BUT SINCE IT COULD BE WEEKS OR MONTHS BEFORE IT HAPPENS, THAT'S REALLY NOT AN OPTION, IS IT?) OR THE NEXT TIME IT DOES THAT, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS (AS I'VE DONE HERE AND REPORTED TO THEM) AND TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I STRESSED THAT THE VAN ALWAYS RESTARTS, AND THE CHANCES THAT THEY'D FIND A CODE TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAD ALREADY HAPPENED AND WAS NOW OVER WAS PRETTY MINIMAL. IT SEEMS THAT THEY JUST DON'T CARE TO DIG DEEPER, OR RESEARCH POSSIBLE CAUSES, OR EVEN TAKE A VEHICLE THAT'S HAVING THIS ISSUE AND STUDY IT UNDER A MICROSCOPE. LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE JUST KEEPING THEIR FINGERS CROSSED THAT NO ONE ACTUALLY DIES AS A RESULT OF THIS ISSUE. *JS
I OWN A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY MINI VAN AND YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HEARD A WEIRD SOUND FROM THE OUTSIDE AND COULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING. I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED AROUND TO SEE SMOKE COMING OUT FROM MY LEFT REAR WHEEL. I PUT SOME WATER ON IT AND HAD TO TOW IT TO THE DEALER AS I DID NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY CHANCE. THE DEALER (GURNEE DODGE) TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE MY REAR BRAKE PADS AND THE ROTORS AS THEY ARE WORN OUT AND AT ONLY 21,000 MILES. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE ON ANY VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 20 YEARS, HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES AND AM NOT DRIVING ANY DIFFERENTLY THAN I HAVE DRIVEN IN THE PAST. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE ME THE VEHICLE AS HE SAID IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I WAS FORCED INTO CHANGING MY PADS FOR $300.00. PLEASE NOTE, I HAD ALREADY REPLACED MY FRONT BRAKE PADS AND THE ROTORS AS THEY ARE WORN OUT AT ONLY 15,961 MILES IN APR-2010. BUT FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRONT BRAKE AND ROTORS , SO I GOT THIS REIMBURSED. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD "TOO BAD" AND NO RECALLS ON REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS AND THEY WOULD ONLY COVER UNTIL 12,000 MILES. I BROWSED AND SAW MANY HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. I THINK CHRYSLER HAS SOME INFERIOR QUALITY ON THESE PARTS ON THESE VEHICLES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE VEHICLE COULD CATCH FIRE AND SHOULD BE SUBJECTED TO RECALL. *TR
I BELIEVE THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM COMPONENTS ARE BADLY CONSTRUCTED. I HAVE JUST HAD MY 2ND ONE BUST WHILE TRYING TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRE. I AM LUCKY THAT BOTH TIMES THEY BROKE I WAS AT A PLACE THAT COULD IMMEDIATELY PUT IN A REGULAR VALVE STEM SO THAT I COULD STILL USE MY CAR.....BOTH TIMES MY TIRES DEFLATED BECAUSE THE TOP WHERE THE AIR IS PUT IN BROKE COMPLETELY OFF THE STEM.....MADE WITH ALUMINUM????? WHY???? NOW I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE OTHER ONES LEFT ON MY CAR TO BREAK......CAR IS ONLY 3 YRS OLD (2008 CHRYSLER TOWN N COUNTRY) THE 1ST ONE THAT BROKE WAS JUST A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE 2ND ONE WHICH PROMPTED THIS COMPLAINT.......THESE NEED TO BE EXAMINED FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL....THEY NEED TO BE MADE TO LAST. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO GET CHRYSLER ZONE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS......I WOULD HATE TO BE DRIVING AND FOR ONE TO BREAK.....I FORESEE MAJOR LAWSUITS IF THIS HAPPENS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIRE PRESSURE VALVE SENSORS WERE CRACKED AS A RESULT OF CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE INFLATING THE TIRES, HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE VALVE STEM WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VALVE STEM WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR UNRELATED MAINTENANCE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH PASSENGER SIDE VALVE STEMS WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW IN FEBRUARY 2009. AT 30K MILES THE FRONT BRAKES WERE SQUEALING AND MY HUSBAND REPLACED THEM. THE BRAKES SHOULD NOT HAVE WORN OUT THIS SOON. THE INNER PAD ON THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE WAS WORN TO THE METAL, RUINING THE ROTOR. THE OUTER PAD ON THE FRONT RIGHT SHOWED ON A 30% WEAR. THINKING THAT THE CALIPER WAS DEFECTIVE,WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CALIPER, SO THEY SAID. AT 48K MILES, THE BACK BRAKES WERE SCRUBBING...AGAIN, THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AT THIS LOW MILEAGE. WE OWN 3 OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES THAT HAVE OVER 200K MILES EACH AND THE BACK BRAKES HAVE NEVER BEEN REPLACED NOR GIVEN ANY TROUBLE. BECAUSE THE BACK BRAKES ON THE 2008 VAN WERE SCRUBBING SO BADLY, MY HUSBAND PRECEDED TO REPLACE THEM. WHAT HE FOUND WAS AN UTTER DISASTER. POOR ENGINEERING IN PARKING BRAKE DESIGN WOULD NOT ALLOW RELEASE OF THE RIGHT PARKING BRAKE. THE INNER PAD(AGAIN ON THE RIGHT SIDE) WAS COMPLETELY WORN INTO THE ROTOR. THE PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT RELEASE WHEN USED, THEREFORE THE INNER BRAKE PAD CONTINUES TO RIDE ON THE ROTOR UNTIL IT IS WORN OUT. THEREFORE, I CANNOT USE THE PARKING BRAKE ANYMORE. WE SPOKE WITH SEVERAL MECHANICS, EVEN AT THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP, AND WAS INFORMED BY ALL OF THEM THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM USED ON THESE VANS WAS THE SAME USED PREVIOUSLY ON HONDA, TOYOTA, FORD, AND GENERAL MOTORS. ALL OF THESE AUTO MAKERS DROPPED THIS BRAKE DESIGN BECAUSE IT WAS SO POORLY DESIGNED. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VANS AND REPLACE THE WHOLE BRAKING SYSTEM! *TR
WIRELESS IGNITION MODULE WAS REPLACED AFTER REPEATED FAILURES - VAN WOULD UNEXPECTEDLY STALL WHILE DRIVING - THE KEY WOULD MOVE FROM THE RUN POSITION TO THE ACCESSORY POSITION. AFTER 6-8 WEEKS AND MANY VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP THE MODULE WAS REPLACED. WITHIN THE PAST MONTH THE SAME SYMPTOMS HAVE OCCURRED AN ADDITIONAL THREE TIMES - APROX 11 MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE - VAN IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND HAS 47K MILES. I NOTICED THERE MAY BE A SIMILAR PROBLEM IN 2010 MODEL YEAR VANS AND A 1/4 OF A MILLION WERE RECALLED. WHAT THE ISSUE ADDRESSED BUT CHRYSLER SAYS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
THE TIRES THAT CAME WITH MY 08 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY ARE FAILING AND HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH ONLY 27,000 MILES ON THEM. *TR
VEHICLE IGNITION SWITCH WILL OCCASIONALLY REVERT FROM ON TO OFF POSTION WITH AN AUDIBLE CLICK AND CAR WILL IMMEDIATELY DIE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THE VEHICLE AT REST, BUT HAS ALSO COMMONLY OCCURED WHEN MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS AT LOW SPEED. THE VEHICLE IS LEFT COASTING IN WHICHEVER DIRECTION IT WAS POINTED AS POWER STEERING ASSIST IS IMMEDIATELY LOST. I HAVE NOT BEEN KILLED, BUT ITS OBVIOUSLY A DANGEROUS SITUATION. APPARENTLY A RECALL EXISTS FOR 2010 MODEL CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINIVANS. IT SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO INCLUDE THE 2008 THAT I HAVE. ITS LIKELY THE SAME IGNITION PART.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHROME WAS PEELING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLES, CAUSING LACERATIONS TO THE CONTACT'S HANDS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE DOOR PANEL WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
I HAVE A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN..I HAVE 64,602 MILES ON IT..MY VAN STARTED SQUEALING AT THE STOP SIGNS AND NOW IT MAKES ALL KINDS OF NOISE WITH I PUT MY VEHICLE IN GEAR..MY BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE OUT IN MY VAN..I TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WILL COST CLOSE TO 500 TO FIX..AND THEY ALSO STATED THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THOSE VANS AND CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND DOES NOTHING TO FIX THE ISSUE..I AM DRIVING AN UNSAFE VAN WITH 3 KIDS IN MY VEHICLE... *TR
THE RIGHT REAR POWER SLIDING DOOR ON THE 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY FAILS TO LATCH PROPERLY AND DOES NOT NOTIFY THE OPERATOR OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE DOOR WILL FAIL TO OPERATE IN THE CLOSING OPERATION WITH THE POWER SLIDING OPTION AND REQUIRES OPERATOR INTERVENTION TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE DOOR. IN MANY INSTANCES WHEN THE DOOR FAILS TO CLOSE PROPERLY, IIT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE DOOR TO GET THE LATCH MECHANISM TO ENGAGE. THE FAILURE OF THE DOOR TO LATCH CONSTITUTES A SAFETY CONCERN. THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO WARNING INDICATOR TO NOTIFY THE OPERATOR THAT THE DOOR HAS NOT LATCHED POSES A SEVERE SAFETY RISK TO THE OCCUPANTS. THE ONLY NOTIFICATION THE OPERATOR RECEIVES DURING THIS MALFUNCTION IS INCREASED ROAD NOISE DUE TO POOR SEALING BETWEEN THE DOOR AND DOOR FRAME. OCCUPANTS COULD BE EJECTED FROM THE UNLATCHED DOOR. THE MANUFACTURERS REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE CONCERN AND HAS FAILED TO PROPERLY ADDRESS THE CONCERN OR SHOWN ANY INTEREST IN RESOLVING THE ISSUE. OTHER OWNERS OF CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VEHICLES HAS STATED THAT THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR CONCERNS WITH THEIR POWER SLIDING REAR DOORS. *TR
DRIVING THE CAR IN REGULAR, DRY, DAYLIGHT, CONDITIONS IN TRAFFIC AT 35MPH... ENGINE STOPS, NO POWER BRAKES, NO POWER STEERING, NO WARNING LIGHTS DISPLAYED, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SEEMS OPERATIONAL (RADIO IS ON). CAR IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL WITH THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING/BREAKING AND THE ENGINE CAN'T BE RESTARTED UNLESS THE CAR IS IN PARK, SO I HAVE TO PULL OVER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS, RANDOMLY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED, AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE IT. I JUST DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND THERE IS A RECALL ON 2010 MODEL YEAR FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE EXACT SAME DESCRIPTION!!! *JS
FLAW IN DESIGNED OR MANUFACTURING OF PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE(INTERIOR) CAUSING MINOR TO MAJOR CUTS ON HAND AND FINGERS. THE DESIGN OF MANUFACTURING OF PART IS FLAW AND CAUSE HAZARDOUS CONDITION TO PASSENGER OCCUPANT. THE FLAW IT AT THE SEAM OF HANDLE DECOR. THE SEAM IT LOCATED ON TOP WHERE THE PALM AND FIGURE REST. WHEN THE SEAM FAIL AND PEELS OFF, IT CAUSE INJURIES TO PALM AND FINGERS. CUT RANGING FROM SMALL SKIN CUT TO MAJOR OPEN CUTS. *TR

UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE REPEATED FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000. UPDATED 04/19/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE DAY. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS INVOLVED IN TWO ACCIDENTS, BUT THERE WAS NO DAMAGE. UPDATED 04/25/12

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY FOR ROUTINE REPAIRS WHEN HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE BRAKES WERE WEARING PREMATURELY. THE MECHANIC ADVISED REPLACING THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,502.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY LOOSE POWER, LIGHTS, WASHERS, WASHER FLUID AND HORN WILL START BLARING AND GOES CRAZY, WILL HAVE TO PULL OVER STOP THE CAR, WAIT FEW MINUTES AND RESTART THE CAR, WILL THEN HONK AND WIPERS/FLUIDS WILL GO FOR A BRIEF SECOND AND THEN STOP, HAPPENS AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES A MONTH, WILL EVEN HAPPEN AS LOCKING OR UNLOCKING THE CAR WITH THE REMOTE KEY= TOOK TO DEALER, NOTHING WRONG, CHARGED $200 FOR NEW KEY, STILL DOING THE SAME THING, OWE TOO MUCH TO TRADE IN. *TR
RECURRING FAILURE OF BRAKE CALIPERS IN LEFT REAR WHEEL OF 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VAN. THERE WERE TWO FAILURES IN 38000 MILES WITHIN THREE YEARS. *TR
RECALLS K14, K04, K15 RECEIVED THREE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE INDICATING APPROX. 3.5 HOURS TO REPAIR. CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I MAY LOOSE MY CAR FOR TWO DAYS. I CAN'T AFFORD TO BE WITHOUT A CAR FOR TWO DAYS SO I ASKED ABOUT A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. I WAS INFORMED I WOULD ONLY GET A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE IF I HAD A SERVICE CONTRACT. FIRST THERE IS TOTAL DISCONNECT BETWEEN WHAT CHRYSLER IS SAYING ON THE TIME TO REPAIR THESE DEFECTS 3 1/2 HOURS TO 2 DAYS QUOTED BY THE DEALER. SECOND I SHOULD NOT BE TREATED DIFFERENTLY ON BEING PROVIDED A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE UNDER A SAFETY RECALL.
DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT ESP/BAS ILLUMINATED. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THE "STEERING ANGLE SENSOR" WAS BAD. THE STEERING "CLOCK SPRING" WAS SUGGESTED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE "STEERING ANGLE SENSOR" WAS PART OF A WHOLE UNIT (THE CLOCK SPRING) AND CANNOT BE CHANGED SEPARATELY. MY VEHICLE WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AT 36,000 MILES AND WAS NO LONGER COVERED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE BAD PART IS CONNECTED TO THE VEHICLE STABILITY SYSTEM AND WHY IT HAS FAILED SO EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

MY RESEARCH HAS SHOWN MULTIPLE COMPLAINT ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM RESULTING IS A PRORATED AUTHORIZED REIMBURSEMENT FROM CHRYSLER BACK IN JULY. MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING 65-70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING A CONSISTENT SPEED FOR MINUTES WHEN IT FELT LIKE MY CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN DESPITE PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL. I LOOKED AT THE INSTRUMENTS AND THE SPEEDOMETER AND RPM GAUGE BOTH READ "ZERO." I COASTED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER TO A SAFE SHOULDER ON THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS A SCARY EXPERIENCE THAT MY CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL. WHILE SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE SUPERMARKET, WITH THE ENGINE OFF, THE HORN SOUNDED CONTINUOUSLY, THE FRONT AND REAR WIPERS STARTED RUNNING AND THE WASHER FLUID SPRAYED THE REAR WINDOW CONTINUOUSLY. I OPENED THE HOOD OF THE CAR AND TUGGED ON THE POWER LEAD GOING INTO THE TIPM AND EVERYTHING STOPPED. ANOTHER TIME I WAS DRIVING THE VAN WHEN ALL OF THE SYSTEMS MENTIONED STARTED GOING AGAIN. I PULLED THE VAN OVER, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND EXITED THE VAN WITH MY KEYS IN MY POCKET. I OPENED THE HOOD TO TUG ON THE POWER LEAD AGAIN, BUT TO MY SURPRISE THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING (WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE IGNITION OFF!) I TUGGED THE POWER LEAD AND ALL SYSTEMS STOPPED AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I STARTED THE CAR, RESET THE WIPERS AND WAS ON MY WAY. I'VE HAD THIS VAN TO MY MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES NOW AND HE'S STILL HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING IT FIXED. THIS IS GOING ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR 2 YEARS. WHEN I FIRST HAD THE PROBLEM, I BROUGHT TO CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A DIRTY BATTERY TERMINAL (NOT TRUE) THEN THEY SAID IT WAS A LOOSE CONNECTION AT THE COMPUTER (NOT TRUE) THEN THE WARRANTY RAN OUT, AND THEY SAID TO LEAVE THE VAN AND THEY WOULD DO SOME TESTS ON THE VAN AND THAT IT COULD COST ABOUT 800 DOLLARS IF IT WAS THE COMPUTER OR A MODULE. I DIDN'T LEAVE IT BECAUSE I DON'T TRUST THEM. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL ON THE PROBLEM? I'VE HAD THE VAN DIE WHILE I WAS DRIVING, THANKFULLY IT WAS ON A SIDE STREET AND NOT WHILE I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER A HIGHWAY. THE DEALER ADVISED THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THERE WERE FOUR SEPARATE COMPONENTS OF THE AIR BAG THAT WORKED TOGETHER WITHIN THE SYSTEM AND READS THE MODULE. THE MODULE WAS DESTROYED WHEN THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THE EXACT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE DEALER WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH ANY REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,962. 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY... 5 RECALLS... BRAKES BRAKES BRAKES...I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED 4 TIMES NOW WITH 96,000 MILES ON IT. ALSO THE REAR DRIVER SIDE CALIPER FROZE UP AND I HAD TO REPLACE THE PADS,ROTOR,CALIPER @ A COST OF 250.00. THE NOISE FROM THE FRONT HUBS DROVE ME CRAZY!! PAID 550.00 TO FIX THEM AND GOT BAD PARTS OFF THE SHELF.. THEN I GOT A NOTICE IN THE MAIL 3 MONTHS AFTER I FIXED THEM ABOUT BAD BEARINGS IN THE FRONT AND THAT I CAN BE REFUNDED THE MONEY SPENT TO FIX THEM. NOW IM TRYING TO FILL OUT THE PAPER WORK NEED FOR THE REFUND. *TT
FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ON 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VEHICLES ARE INFERIOR AND WEAR OUT PREMATURELY; AND IN SOME CASES THE PAD MATERIAL SEPARATES FROM THE STEEL BACKING PLATE. ROTORS ARE ALSO INFERIOR AND WARP. ALL OF THIS OCCURS USUALLY IN UNDER 15,000 MILES. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, AND KNOWS THAT IT EXTENDS INTO MAY OTHER VEHICLE LINES. NEW ROTORS AND PADS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE ON MY VEHICLE WHICH NOW STOPS PROPERLY. THE BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE CAN BECOME INEFFECTIVE DUE TO LOSS OF FRICTION MATERIAL, OR HEATING CAUSED BY INFERIOR ROTOR MATERIALS. *TR
