YESTERDAY I GOT IN MY VAN AND AS SOON AS I TURNED IT ON I NOTICED THAT MY DASH LIGHT WERE FLASHING. I PUT THE VAN IN REVERSE AND MY HORN HONKED A COUPLE TIMES ON ITS OWN, THEN THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID STARTED SPRAYING. I DROVE STRAIGHT TO AUTO ZONE TO HAVE THEM PUT IT ON THEIR MACHINE TO CHECK TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. AUTO ZONE SHOWED NO PROBLEMS. I CONTINUED ON TO MY DESTINATION WITH NO MORE PROBLEMS. TODAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED ONLY WORSE!! MY HORN STARTED BLARING AND DID NOT STOP WINDSHIELD WIPERS BOTH FRONT AND BACK WERE GOING!!! AND ALL OF MY LIGHTS WERE ON (PARKING LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, REVERSE LIGHTS)!! I TURNED THE VAN OFF AND GOT OUT HORN STILL BLARING AND WIPERS STILL GOING, OPENED HOOD AND REALIZED THE [XXX] VAN WAS ALSO STILL RUNNING!!!!!! NO KEY IN THE IGNITION!!! LONG STORY SHORT I HAD TO UNPLUG THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TO STOP THE MADNESS!!! NOW I FIND OUT IT IS THE TIPM AND ITS GOING TO COST OVER $1000!!!! I HAVE TO DOUBLE CHECK AND SEE IF MY EXTENDED WARRANTY IS GOING TO COVER IT BUT I'M ALMOST SURE IT WON'T!!! I AM GOING TO BE MORE THAN IRRATE IF I HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET TO FIX SOMETHING THAT OBVIOUSLY IS FAULTY AND SHOULD BE RECALLED!!!!!!!! CHRYSLER!!!! STOPPED AT MAILBOX ENGINE QUIT DASHBOARD LITE UP ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART PUSHED VEHICLE OFF ROAD IN TRAFFIC ENGINE WOULD TURN OFF BUT WOULD NOT CRANK ACTED LIKE IT WAS FLOODED. LET ENGINE COOL AND IT RESTARTED IN TWO HOUR. LEFT OVERNIGHT AND IT RESTARTED. BLOG SAYS PROBLEM MAY BE TIPM MODULE CALLED DEALER DROVE TO DEALER FOR INVESTIGATION.

WHILE DRIVING I HAD SLOWED SLIGHTLY DOWN A HILL AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE UP HILL, WHEN I CRESTED HILL THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK. I HAD 2 CHILDREN IN CAR. GOT REALLY SCARED. I QUICKLY SWIPED MY FOOT UNDER PEDAL TO KNOCK ANYTHING BLOCKING OUT OF WAY, NOTHING THERE. I HIT BRAKES, CAR KEPT GOING AS IT WASN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD IT BACK. THREW CAR IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE WAS SCREAMING. AS I ROLLED TO SIDE THE PEDAL, WITH MANIPULATION, BECAME UNSTUCK. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY INCIDENT, WHICH COULD HAVE ENDED BADLY. I RESEARCHED ON THE NET AND SAW MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING. CONSUMERS ARE BEING ROBBED OF THE 2ND BIGGEST ASSET THEY SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ON.
SLOWING DOWN WHEN APPROACHING TOLL BOOTH AT NIGHT IN MAIN LANE WHEN VAN DIES AND WILL NOT START. EVERYTHING WENT DEAD (INCLUDING HAZARD LIGHTS). LUCKY WE DIDN'T GET HIT! TOLL ROAD AUTHORITY TRUCK PUSHED ME TO SHOULDER. AFTER AN ABOUT AN HOUR, THE VAN STARTED.

MY VAN HAS A RECALL IT IS R03.. TO REPLACE THE WIN MODULE . I AM ON A WAITING LIST WHICH THE DEALERSHIP SCRANTON DODGE IS TELLING IS VERY LONG . I CONTACTED THE DEALER BECAUSE THE VAN IS HAVING STARTING ISSUES. IT WILL NOT START AND MY WIFE HAS GOTTEN STRANDED SEVERAL TIMES WITH MY SIX CHILDREN IN THE VAN. WHEN I JUMP THE VAN IT WILL START . THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE OUR ATTACHED GARAGE. I WENT THROUGH THE GARAGE WHEN GOING OUT TO WORK IN THE YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING AT THE TIME. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE GARAGE 5 MINUTES LATER TO GET AN EXTENSION CORD I DISCOVERED THE VAN WAS RUNNING AND THE DOORS WERE LOCKED, IT APPEARS IT REMOTE STARTED WITHOUT A REQUEST FOR REMOTE START. NEITHER KEY FOB WAS IN A PURSE OR POCKET AT THE TIME. I HAD TO RUN INTO THE HOUSE TO GET MY KEY FOB THAT WAS LOCATED IN THE BEDROOM TO SHUT THE VEHICLE DOWN. THE OTHER KEY FOB WAS ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER AND HAD NOT BEEN DISTURBED. THE VAN WOULD HAVE KEPT RUNNING COULD HAVE FILLED OUR HOME WITH CARBON MONOXIDE. BOTH OUR KIDS WERE INSIDE NAPPING AT THE TIME AND THEIR MOTHER WAS INSIDE THE HOUSE NOWHERE NEAR EITHER KEY FOB.
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, GAS CONTINUED TO PUMP WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL AND IT OVERFLOWED OUT OF THE TANK ONTO THE GROUND. I ASSUMED IT WAS A BROKEN PUMP AT THE GAS STATION, AND REPORTED THE SPILL TO THE CLERK. NEXT REFUELING AT A DIFFERENT STATION IT HAPPENED AGAIN. ONLY WAY TO PREVENT IT IS TO LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING WHILE REFUELING SO YOU CAN WATCH THE GAS GAUGE RISE AND STOP BEFORE IT GETS TOO FULL. THERE IS NO WAY TO MISUSE OR ABUSE THIS PART OF THE CAR, SO ONE CAN ASSUME THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE. DEALERSHIP INFORMED MY IT WOULD COST $1400 TO FIX.

I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A RECALL ON AN IGNITION WIN MODULE RECALL. THE CAR WAS GIVEN BACK TO ME WITH SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND IS NOW VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. DEALER REPLACED THE PART 4X NOW SAYS ITS MY ISSUE!! MY CAR WAS WORKING PROPERLY WHEN IT WAS GIVEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT RETURNED TO ME IN THE SAME CONDITION. THE DEALER EXPERIENCED AND WITNESSED THIS ISSUE AND SAYS THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL HELP ME IS IF I PAY. MY CAR WILL RANDOMLY LIGHT UP THE DASH LIKE I JUST TURNED IT ON, WIPERS GO ON BY THEMSELVES, I HAVE NO DIALS ON THE DASH THEY ALL BOTTOM OUT TO ZERO SO I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST IM GOING, MY TURN SIGNALS AND HEAD LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF, EVEN IN THE DARK! MY CAR DOESNT REGISTER IN PARK SO MY DOORS WONT OPEN. AFTER I TAKE THE KEY OUT IT WILL LIGHT UP AS IF KEY IS IN IT AND ITS NOT. NOT SAFE FOR DRIVING BUT I HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS AT THIS POINT! VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR IGNITION PROBLEMS. DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO PROVIDE PARTS FOR SEVERAL WEEKS STATING THAT IT MAY BE MANY MORE WEEKS BEFORE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUES INVOLVED AND THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD PRIOR IGNITION PROBLEMS.
THE REAR LIFT GATE ON MY MINI-VAN OPENED FULLY THEN CAME CRASHING DOWN. IT MISSED MY HEAD BUT HIT MY SHOULDER. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SEVERE INJURY TO AN ADULT OR SMALL CHILD. THE LIFT GATE NOW WILL OPEN FULLY THEN COME CRASHING DOWN BECAUSE OF THE DEFECTIVE PART.

THE VAN WOULD STOP AT LOW SPEEDS WITH LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKING POWER. NO CODES WOULD BE TRIGGERED, IT WAS AS IF THE IGNITION WAS JUST TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE ELECTRICAL POWER WOULD STILL BE ON LIKE THE RADIO AND INSTRUMENTATION PANEL BUT THE STEERING AND BRAKING WOULD TIGHTEN UP; VERY SCARY FEELING. IT HAS HAPPENED TO MY WIFE DRIVING THE KIDS EIGHT TO TEN TIMES AND MYSELF TWO TIMES. THE DEALER SAID THE IGNITION RECALL WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT I THINK IT IS SOMETHING ELSE (TOOK DEALER 6 MONTHS TO GET THE PART IN AFTER OUR FIRST INCIDENT). IT GOT SO BAD THAT MY WIFE WOULD HAVE ME WARM UP AND DRIVE THE VAN AROUND BEFORE SHE WOULD USE IT. AFTER MY EXPERIENCES WITH THE ISSUE MY PROCEDURE TO HER IS TO PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL WHILE THE VAN IS STILL ROLLING AND RESTART THE CAR (THIS IS ONLY IN THE CASE OF POSSIBLY BEING REAR ENDED). ALSO, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WOULD FLICKER RIGHT AT ENGINE CUT OFF BUT NO ENGINE LIGHT. FIVE DAYS BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT FOR THE RECALL, MY WIFE WITH KIDS AND PARENT WERE IN THE VAN ENTERING AN ON-RAMP TO THE FREEWAY WHEN THE ENGINE CUT OFF AGAIN CAUSING THE VAN TO REAR END THE CAR IN FRONT. THE ACCIDENT TOTALED THE VAN EVEN THOUGH THE SPEED WAS AROUND 8MPH; NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. CHRYSLER OPENED AN INVESTIGATION BUT FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF ANY FAILURE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME I WENT TO USE MY ELECTRIC START, ABOUT 15 MINS AFTER CAR WAS GOING THE VAN STARTED GOING CRAZY WINDSHIELD WIPERS/ FLUID HORN BLARING DOORS LOCK CAN'T USE THE FOBIK KEY TO UNLOCK THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT WAS TO DISCONNECT BATTERY. COUPLE MONTHS PAST AND IT STARTED ACTING TO WHERE I WOULD GO TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD JUST CLICK AND WOULD T START. IT HAS DONE ALL OF THE LISTED ABOVE NUMEROUS TIMES BUT NOW IT IS GETTING MORE AND MORE. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO IT DID IT 7 TIMES IN ONE WEEK 4 OF THOSE TIMES I HAD MY 4 CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE STREET IT WILL START TO DO THIS CRAZINESS AND THEN IT WILL STALL. I HAD MY VEHICLE RETURNED AFTER TWO WEEKS CHARGED $235 DOLLARS AND WAS TOLD GOOD LUCK TO YOU WE HAVE NO CLUE WHAT'S CAUSING IT. 2008 MODEL YEAR CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY, APPROXIMATELY 138500 MILES. TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS SO FAR, ONE DAY APART. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT ON JULY 18, 2015. THE VEHICLE TRIED TO LURCH FORWARD (FOOT FIRMLY ON BRAKE PEDAL, NO PRESSURE ON GAS PEDAL) AND THE HORN BLARED INTERMITTENTLY WITH NO USER INPUT. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED STOPPED IN A PARKING LOT ON JULY 19, 2015. AS THE DRIVER WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE HORN BEGAN TO FIRE IN RAPID, SHORT BURSTS WITH NO PRESSURE ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THE WIPERS ACTIVATED, AND THE WIPER FLUID NOZZLES BEGAN SPRAYING FLUID. THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM ALSO REMAINED ON WITH THE KEY FULLY REMOVED SHORTLY BEFORE THE INCIDENT, WHICH IS NOT INTENDED BEHAVIOR NOR IS IT A FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION. THESE PROBLEMS ARE SYMPTOMS OF TIPM FAILURE, AND RELATE TO THE CURRENT NHTSA ACTION NUMBER DP14004. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY OWN CAR. I CAN'T GUARANTEE IT WILL SIT STILL IN A PARKING LOT, EVEN WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION.

SUMMARY: CHRYSLER'S HANDLING OF THE RECALL IS ESSENTIALLY A SHELL GAME THAT IS INTENDED TO MISLEAD THE NHTSA INTO BELIEVING THAT CHRYSLER IS TAKING SUBSTANTIVE ACTION. CHRYSLER'S MOST RECENT ACTIONS ARE A TOTAL SCAM. IN LATE JUNE OF 2015, CHRYSLER INFORMED ME THAT THE PART WAS NOW AVAILABLE AT THE DEALERSHIPS. ON JULY14, I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD (AT THE END OF THE WORKING DAY) THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE CORRECT REPLACEMENT PART. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD TRY TO LOCATE THE CORRECT PART AND WOULD GET BACK TO ME EARLY THE NEXT DAY. THE NEXT DAY I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PART. FURTHER, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY CAN'T PLACE AN ORDER FOR THE PART AND THEY HAD NO IDEA OF WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. FINALLY, THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO KEEP CALLING THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THE DEALERSHIP HAD RECEIVED THE PART. SO IN ESSENCE, I HAVE TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP EVERYDAY TO SEE IF THEY HAVE RECEIVED THE CORRECT PART. CHRYSLER IS NOT LIVING UP TO THE DEAL THEY MADE WITH THE NHTSA. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE CONDITION THAT PROMPTED THE RECALL AT LEAST TWICE AND REPORTED IT TO MY DEALERSHIP.
