THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 66,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS RETURNING TO WORK AFTER A DINNER BREAK AND THE MOTOR SUDDENLY TURNED OFF AS I WAS DRIVING. I VERIFIED THE ENGINE WAS OFF BY LOOKING AT THE TACH. WHICH READ 0 RPM. SINCE I WAS IN A LARGE PARKING LOT WITHOUT MANY VEHICLES, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. I THEN TURNED OFF ALL THE ACCESSORIES, RADIO, HEATER FAN AND TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT RESTARTED ON THE FIRST TRY . AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE I DROVE AROUND FOR A FEW MINUTES AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. SEVERAL HOURS LATER I DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE SINCE THIS NIGHT. SEVERAL WEEKS EARLIER THE DAY AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT LOST POWER (STEERING BECAME HARD) AND I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOPPED. I COULD NOT HEAR THE ENGINE, UNFORTUNATELY I DID NOT LOOK AT THE TACH. I TURNED THE IGNITION TO THE OFF POSITION AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. *TR

I WAS PREPARING TO LEAVE HOME ON THE MORNING OF MARCH 14, 2015. I BACKED THE CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE AND JUST AS I WAS ABOUT TO PULL FORWARD THERE WAS SMOKING COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE HAD BARELY WARMED UP, THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED SO I EXIT THE VEHICLE TO SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING. JUST AS I LEFT THE HOOD ABOUT TWO INCHES, THERE IS A FIRE IN THE REAR OF THE ENGINE CABIN WITH SPARKS FROM IT. I IMMEDIATELY BACKED AWAY FROM THE CAR AND WITHIN MINUTES THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE EASTPOINTE, MI FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME OUT AND RULED THE FIRE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. THIS FIRE COULD HAVE KILLED ME AS THERE WERE NO WARNINGS JUST FIRE AND SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION SHOULD NOT OCCUR ON A VEHICLE FIVE YEARS OLD. THIS IS THE VEHICLE I TRANSPORTED MY FIVE KIDS IN AND HAD THIS OCCURRED ON THE FREEWAY WE WERE HEADING FOR DEATH OR INJURY WOULD HAVE BEEN EMINENT. I AM NOW AFRAID THAT OTHERS ARE AT SIMILAR IF NOT WORSE RISK. SHAME ON CHRYSLER FOR MARKETING A FAMILY VEHICLE WITH SUCH SIGNIFICANT RISK OF DEATH OR INJURY. *TR
VAN UNEXPECTEDLY SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. IDLE AT RED STOP LIGHT, NOTICED TRACTION CONTROL SENSOR WAS STUCK ON EVEN THOUGH ROAD CONDITIONS WERE NORMAL, NO RAIN, NO SNOW SO DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. SECONDS PAST, STOP LIGHT TURNED GREEN, WENT TO DRIVE VIA GIVING THE CAR GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENED, BRAKES WEREN'T BEING RECOGNIZED, STEERING WAS EXTREMELY TIGHT. REALIZED AT THAT POINT THAT THE VAN COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN (IN DRIVE! IGNITION ON!) WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE. TURNED IGNITION TO OFF, RESTARTED. NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE BECAUSE I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED. I COULD HAVE TOTALLY BEEN REAR ENDED SINCE THIS HAPPENED SO SUDDENLY. I WAS LUCKY TO NOT BE ON A MAJOR STREET OR ROADWAY. NOW I AM GETTING NO ANSWERS FROM CHRYSLER CORP. I FEEL ITS PART OF THIS REVISED L25 RECALL I SEEN ON NHTSA. *TR
ALL SYSTEMS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50MPH INCLUDING POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, ENGINE AND OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 TO 55 MPH, A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND A TIRE FLATTENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE VALVE STEM DISINTEGRATED AND THE SENSOR FELL INSIDE OF THE TIRE. THE VALVE STEM WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
OUT OF NOWHERE VEHICLE STOPS RUNNING, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, BUT VAN SHUTS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED A DOZEN OR SO TIMES IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS. TOOK THE VAN TO LOCAL SHOP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST. NO CODES APPEARED, TESTED FUEL PUMP AND EGR VALUE, NOT PROBLEMS THERE. MECHANIC UNABLE TO DETECT ISSUE. I'VE NOTICED OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND A RECALL FOR 2010 CHRYSLER T&C VANS, BUT NOT MY VEHICLE (BUILT ON 9/26/2012). *TR

THE CONTACT MADE NUMEROUS CALLS TO THE DEALER TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR, BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE BEYOND A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. DRIVING MY TOWN AND COUNTRY CHRYSLER MINIVAN FULL OF GIRL SCOUTS AND THE ENGINE SHUTOFF WITHOUT WARNING. A CAR CAME VERY CLOSE TO HITTING US. I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND PULLED OVER IN ORDER TO PUT THE VAN IN PARK AND RESTART THE VAN. WE COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED IF THE CAR BEHIND ME HAD HIT US. *TR

THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING WITHOUT WARNING AND THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY STALLED. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A SMOOTH ROAD, AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES WERE DISABLED AS WAS THE ENGINE. THIS RESULTED IN ME HAVING TO MAKE EVASIVE MANEUVERS WITH LITTLE TO NO MANEUVERABILITY AND NO ABILITY TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING FROM OTHER RECALL NOTICES THAT AIR BAGS ARE ALSO DISABLED WHEN THIS EVENT OCCURS. THIS FAILURE RESULTS IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND IN MY OPINION, THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THIS PRODUCT DEFECT. THE INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 6 MORE TIMES SINCE THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER BECAUSE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE MAKE AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE, BUT I WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED ON OCTOBER 13, 2010, WHICH IS OUTSIDE THE WINDOW FOR THAT PARTICULAR RECALL. AGAIN, I REPEAT THAT THIS IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND SOMEONE WILL GET SERIOUSLY INJURED AS A RESULT OF THIS DEFECT IF IT IS NOT REMEDIED ASAP. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY AND WITHOUT WARNING WILL TURN ITSELF OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. ALL SYSTEMS POWER OFF AND IT IS A VERY DISTRESSING EVENT. PLEASE EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE THE ADDITIONAL MANUFACTURE DATES WHICH INCLUDE MY VEHICLE. I DO NOT WANT MY VEHICLE OR ANY OTHERS OUT THERE LIKE MINE TO BE INVOLVED IN A FATAL ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.

WHILE BACKING VEHICLE OUT OF DRIVEWAY, DRIVER NOTICED THICK BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE WINDOW BUTTON AREA. DRIVER OPENED DOOR OUT OF FEAR AS SHE WAS STILL BACKING UP VEHICLE. VEHICLE STRUCK 2ND VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY, A 2010 HONDA CRV IN BACK RIGHT PANEL RESULTING IN A DENT. DRIVER PLACED VEHICLE IN PARK AND RAN FROM VEHICLE AFTER COLLISION. CALLED DEALERSHIP TO ASK WHY RECALL WASN'T TAKEN CARE OF WHEN VEHICLE HAD BEEN BROUGHT INTO CROWN MOTORS OF HOLLAND, MI ON NOVEMBER 4, 2014. DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED DRIVER THAT THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER BUT THAT THEY HAD MADE THE ERROR OF NOT DISCONNECTING THE PART WHICH IS WHAT LEAD TO ACCIDENT AND FIRE. *TR
FOR THE THIRD TIME IN THREE MONTHS, AND WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOST ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE POWER, POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING, PLUS LOSS OF ALL PANEL & ENGINE LIGHTS, AND LOSS OF RADIO. THE LATEST INCIDENT HAPPENED IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AT 30-MPH ON 2 MARCH 2015, ODOMETER APPROX 126280. THE PREVIOUS TWO EVENTS LIKE THIS OCCURRED WHEN VEHICLE WAS ON HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WHILE ACCELERATING, DURING NOVEMBER 2014 AND JANUARY 2015. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH DURING THIS LATEST EVENT REMAINED IN THE ON POSITION. I AM NOT SURE WHETHER IN THE PREVIOUS TWO INCIDENTS WHETHER THE IGNITION SWITCH HAD (OR HAD NOT) SLIPPED OUT OF THE ON POSITION. DURING THIS LATEST EVENT ON 2 MARCH 2015, TO RESTART ENGINE WHILE STILL COASTING DOWN THE ROAD, I HAD TO CAREFULLY PUT TRANS IN NEUTRAL POSITION, THEN TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO OFF, AND THEN TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO START, TO RESTART ENGINE. THE ENGINE THUS RESTARTED NORMALLY IN ALL THREE OF THESE INCIDENTS. *TR
CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR MANY OF THERE 2009-2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY'S. BECAUSE OF THE WIRELESS NODE BEING BAD WHICH MAKE THE KEY FLOP AROUND IN THE IGNITION. HOWEVER THERE IS ANOTHER SIDE TO THAT SAME IGNITION IT CAN ALSO LOCK IN THE ON POSITION CAUSING YOU NOT TO BE ABLE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF OR REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION IT WILL ALSO CAUSE THE KEY END TO BREAK OFF IN THE IGNITION I HAVE READ MANY BLOGS WERE THIS IS HAPPENING TO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE AND NOW IT HAS JUST HAPPENED TO ME. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOUR NOT ABLE TO DEENERGIZE THE POWER IN THE CAR. I HAVE AND SO HAVE THOUSAND OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED AND GET SOME HELP WITH THE OUTRAGEOUS COST INCURRED TO REPAIR A MAJOR KNOWN ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT. UNFORTUNATELY WE HAVE ALL BEEN TOLD WELL ITS NOT OUR PROBLEM BY CHRYSLER. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM BECAUSE IT RENDERS THE CAR TOTALLY USELESS UNDRIVABLE IF THE KEY BREAKS IN THE IGNITION. *TR

A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINIVAN WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH. AN SUV CROSSED OVER THE CENTERLINE AND HIT THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AT 40-45 MPH. IT HAD ENOUGH FORCE TO CRUSH THE DOOR AND TEAR IT FROM THE UPPER HINGE AS WELL AS TO BEND THE AXEL AND FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PUSHED LATERALLY INTO A DITCH. WHEN THE DRIVER CAME TO, SHE WAS TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE, NO AIRBAGS HAD BEEN DEPLOYED AND THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. SHE HAD TO THEN PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK TO REMOVE THE KEY AND WITH THE HELP OF POLICE SHE WAS ABLE TO CLIMB OUT OF THE TRUNK. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINIVAN. I HAVE NO HEADLIGHTS IN VEHICLE. WHEN I DRIVE AT NIGHT I HAVE TO USE MY HAZARDS FOR OTHER VEHICLES TO SEE ME. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A BAD FUSE BOX OR MODULE AS THEY CALL IT (MECHANIC GOOGLED THE PROBLEM FOR 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY NO HEADLIGHTS - READ THE RESPONSES!!). THE PART TO FIX MY VEHICLE LISTS FROM CHRYSLER FOR $819.05 BUT IT IS NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE IT IS BACKORDERED ON THE CHRYSLER PARTS SYSTEM, IT LOOKS LIKE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. SO NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE MY WIFE AND 3 KIDS IN A VEHICLE WITH NO HEADLIGHTS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE I DRIVE IS A FORD E-250 CARGO VAN WITH ONLY 2 SEATS. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?? I SPENT $40,000+ ON A VEHICLE AND THIS IS ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH VEHICLE (RADIO, WARPED DISC ON BRAKES AND OF COURSE THE KEY ISSUES EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT). I TALKED TO CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID MAYBE THEY COULD EXPEDITE THE PART BUT I SAID WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THEIR PROBLEMS. CUSTOMER REP "WAS SORRY I FELT THIS WAY" AND THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO REPORTED ISSUES REGARDING THIS (I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE WITH BACKLOG OF PARTS). WHAT SHOULD I DO? MY 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WAS TAKEN INTO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP FOR A ROUTINE REPAIR IN 2011. DURING THAT REPAIR VISIT, THE DEALER CHECKED FOR ANY OPEN RECALLS AND PERFORMED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V139000. I NEVER HAD THE CONDITION THIS SAFETY RECALL WAS INTENDED TO REPAIR...UNTIL THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL. WHEN I WENT BACK TO COMPLAIN...I WAS TOLD THE RECALL COULD NOT BE "UN-DONE" BY LAW. OVER TIME, THIS IGNITION SWITCH BECAME EVEN WORSE, SO THAT IT BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE KEY (THE DESIGN OF THIS "KEY" IS ACTUALLY THE SQUARE-ISH PLASTIC TIP OF THE CHRYSLER KEY FOB RATHER THAN A TRADITIONAL KEY...THERE IS NO ACTUAL KEY IN THIS DESIGN...THE FOB ITSELF IS REQUIRED TO TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH). THIS HAS, OVER TIME, DESTROYED BOTH ORIGINAL KEYS. WHEN I RECENTLY WAS FORCED TO REPLACE (OVER $200) MY LAST FUNCTIONING KEY SO I COULD OPERATE THE VEHICLE, THE NEW KEY MADE THE TURNING OF THE SWITCH EVEN MORE DIFFICULT DUE TO A NEWER DESIGN. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, THEY HAD THE DEALER RE-PERFORM THE "DETENT-RING" INSTALL FOR 11V139000...THIS CHANGED NOTHING. CHRYSLER THEN HAD THE DEALER ORDER A NEW "WIN MODULE" TO FIX THE ISSUE...AND OFFERED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR MY ONE KEY I HAD PAID FOR. WHILE WAITING FOR THE WIN MODULE TO ARRIVE AT THE DEALER, CHRYSLER CALLED ME AND THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY TO TELL ME THAT THEY HAD REVERSED THEIR DECISION...THAT MY CASE WITH THEM (CHRYSLER CASE ID# [XXX]) WOULD BE REFERRED TO THEIR INTERNAL "SPECIAL TRACKING UNIT" AND THAT THIS RECALL WAS BEING EXPANDED (I ASSUME THIS IS FOR 14V373000) AND THEY'D LET ME KNOW IF THE SITUATION CHANGED. MEANWHILE, I CONTINUE TO DRIVE A CAR THAT HAS THE SAFETY ISSUE STILL...AND IT'S RUINING MY NEW $200 KEY. THE 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY USES A KEY FOB TO TURN ON THE ENGINE. I TRIED TO START MY CAR AND GOT A "BAD KEY" ERROR WARNING. I RETRIEVED MY BACKUP KEY FOB AND TRIED AGAIN AND RECEIVED ANOTHER "BAD KEY" ERROR. TWO KEYS AND NEITHER WORKS LEAVING THE CAR INOPERABLE. ONLY A CHRYSLER DEALER CAN PROGRAM THE KEY AND THE CAR MUST BE TOWED IN TO DO SO. ONE DEALER IS QUOTING A PRICE OF $352 FOR THE KEY KIT AND $291 FOR LABOR (NOT INCLUDING TOWING). THE "CHEAPER" DEALER WANTS $95 TO RUN A TEST AND $400-$500 FOR THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE. CHRYSLER IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN PROGRAM THE KEYS FOR THE VEHICLE AND THE SECONDARY GARAGES AND SHOPS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS.
