ENGINE STALLING AT SLOWER SPEEDS MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. RECALL DONE TWICE, THROTTLE BODY AND EGR REPLACED, NO LUCK STILL STALLS, BEEN DOING THIS FOR A YEAR NOW, ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START WHEN TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. ALSO, WHEN THE CONTACT WAS STANDING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, THE WINDOWS WOULD ERRONEOUSLY OPEN AND CLOSE AND THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (BUTLER CHRYSLER, 1555 SALEM RD, BEAUFORT, SC), BUT THE FAILURES COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. RECENTLY, WHEN INSERTING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE KEY BECAME STUCK. THE KEY WAS EVENTUALLY REMOVED, BUT WOULD NOT REMAIN IN THE IGNITION SWITCH WHEN RE-INSERTED AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.

THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. IT WILL THEN RESTART IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND ALMOST CAUSED A COUPLE OF WRECKS. ONE DAY AS I WAS BACKING UP INTO MY DRIVEWAY, I NOTICED A CLICK SOUND. SO I TURNED THE WHEEL AGAIN AND EVERYTIME I TURN THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT SIDE, I AM ABLE TO HEAR A CLICK THIS IS WITH THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND JUST TURNING THE WHEEL, NORMALLY WHEN YOU HEAR A CLICKING WHILE TURNING AND DRIVING IT CAN BE A DEFECTIVE CV AXLE I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, BUT ONCE AGAIN I AM TOLD THAT A DIAGNOSTIC FEE WILL BE NEEDED. I TOLD THEM THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, THEY CLAIM I AM NOT SURE BUT IF WE LOOK AND IT IS NOT YOU WILL BE CHARGED A DIAGNOSTIC FEE, TELL ME HOW THE HELL THIS IS FAIR ANOTHER WORDS THEY ARE TELLING ME I AM GOING TO ROB YOU BUT IF YOU DON'T COME HERE YOU WILL BE OK. WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE ABOVE PART/CONDITION. WE CONTACTED THE DEALER ON JANUARY 13, 2015 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WOULD BE IN STOCK IN 3-4 WEEKS. WE AGAIN CALLED THE SAME DEALER ON FEBRUARY 6 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS BEING ORDERED. SINCE WE HAD NOT HEARD FROM THE DEALER, WE CALLED AGAIN ON MARCH 3 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS "RESTRICTED" AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO KNOW WHEN IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE. OBVIOUSLY NHTSA FEELS THAT THIS IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO REQUIRE A RECALL. SHOULDN'T THE AGENCY ALSO INFORM THE MANUFACTURER THAT THEIR PARTS SUPPLIER MUST PROVIDE THE REQUIRED NUMBER OF PARTS IN A RESONABLE AND SPECIFIED TIME? I DON'T BELIEVE THAT 2 MONTHS IS REASONABLE WHEN THERE IS A POSSIBILTY FOR THE PART TO OVERHEAT AND CAUSE A FIRE. *TR

MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO THE NHTSA 14V-234 RECALL FOR THE REAR QUARTER VENT WINDOW SWITCH SINCE THE END OF 2014. BOTH MY LOCAL DEAL AND CHRYSLER HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO PROVIDE REPLACEMENT PARTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR FIVE MONTHS. MY LOCAL DEALER HAS NO TIMELINE ON WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. PER THE LETTER I RECEIVED, I AM FILING A WRITTEN COMPLAINT BECAUSE CHRYSLER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REMEDY THIS DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME.

DEALERSHIP CALLED CLAIMING THAT BOTH REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR YET THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 25K MILES ON IT. THIS IS EXTREMELY PREMATURE WEAR FOR A VEHICLE IN MY OPINION. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A VEHICLE CAN DESTROY BOTH ITS BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR UNLESS THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT OR KNOWN SUB-PAR PARTS. *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST ALMOST 3 YEARS WE'VE HAD ISSUES WITH OUR VEHICLE DYING WHEN STOPPED OR PARKED. IT BEGAN IN DECEMBER 2014. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN AUGUST 2014. WHILE DRIVING TO FLORIDA FROM MICHIGAN OUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THEN IT TURNED OFF SO WE FIGURED THAT THE BULB WAS LOOSE OR SOMETHING AND WE'D GET IT CHECKED WHEN WE GOT BACK FROM VACATION. ON THE WAY BACK THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON, GOING OFF BUT THEN IT CAME BACK ON AND DIDN'T TURN OFF. THEN THE VEHICLE STARTS DYING WHEN WE'RE STOPPED OR PARKED. WE'RE OBVIOUSLY CONCERNED! I HAD TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AFTER DRIVING THAT FAR ANYWAY SO I BROUGHT IT IN. THE SAID THAT THE CODE WAS FOR A MISFIRING PISTON AND I NEEDED TO TAKE IT INTO THE SHOP RIGHT AWAY. SO I IMMEDIATELY DRIVE IT OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP SHOP. THEY HAVE IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND TELL ME THAT NOTHING IS WRONG, THE VEHICLE JUST NEEDS A TUNE UP AND NEW WIRES, EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 90K MILES ON IT. THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE US $700. WE HAD MY HUSBAND'S COUSIN DO IT INSTEAD BECAUSE HE IS A MECHANIC AND DOESN'T CHARGE US FOR LABOR. THE PROBLEM DOESN'T GO AWAY. THEY TELL US THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR IS BAD. WE REPLACE IT. DOESN'T FIX IT. THEY TELL US THE CRANK SENSOR IS BAD. WE REPLACE IT. AND ON AND ON OUR GOES WITH US REPLACING THINGS AND THE DEALERSHIP BEING UNABLE TO RECREATE THE ISSUE. FOR THE YEARS WE'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THAT AND A VEHICLE THAT CANNOT SMOOTHLY ACCELERATE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO QUICKLY GET UP TO SPEED AND MERGE ONTO THE HIGHEST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE BUCKS AND SHAKES IF YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY TO GET UP TO SPEED. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND A BELL STARTS TO DING UNTIL WE PULL OVER, SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT. NOBODY CAN TELL US WHAT IS WRONG AND WHEN THE CODES ARE SCANNED IT DOESN'T MATCH ANY CODE THAT CHRYSLER HAS.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING DURING OPERATION. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 3.5 MILES VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF A LEFT HAND TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. RADIO REMAINS ON, BUT ENGINE, POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES STOP WORKING, TRACTION CONTROL DASH LIGHT ILLUMINATES. ELECTRONIC KEY APPEARS TO STILL BE IN THE RUN POSITION, AND THE VEHICLE CAN BE RESTARTED BY SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL AND TURNING KEY TO OFF POSITION AND BACK TO START. HAS HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES, TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY A PROBLEM. CHRYSLER ALSO REFUSED TO MENTION OR ACKNOWLEDGE EXISTING RECALL FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE THIS EXACT PROBLEM BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED A FEW DAYS OUTSIDE THE EFFECTIVE DATES OF THE RECALL. *TR

BOTH INCIDENTS OCCURRED UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES. WHILE TRAVELING ON A FREEWAY @ APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH BEARING LEFT (EITHER TO CHANGE LANES OR ON A CURVE ) AND ACCELERATING, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DROPS TO THE FLOOR WITH UNCONTROLLED FULL THROTTLE ACCELERATION. BRAKING DID NOT STOP THE ACCELERATION AND EMERGENCY EVASIVE MANEUVERS WERE REQUIRED TO AVOID SERIOUS ACCIDENTS ON BOTH OCCASIONS. SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF NEUTRAL SEVERAL TIMES WAS PERFORMED AND EVENTUALLY THE ACCELERATOR RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. I AM UNSURE WHAT CAUSED THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION TO STOP. KEY INFORMATION IDENTICAL DURING BOTH INCIDENTS: 1. ENGINE OIL WAS CHANGED WITHIN DAYS OF EACH INCIDENT. OIL CHANGE REMINDER COUNTER WAS RESET USING MANUFACTURER RESET PROCEDURE. 2. LEFT TURN SIGNAL WAS ENGAGED. 3. TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN BEGINNING ACCELERATION (TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED). 4. THROTTLE POSITION WAS APPROXIMATELY 30-40% THROTTLE TO ACCELERATE TO PASS OR GET UP TO SPEED AFTER A CURVED FREEWAY ENTRANCE RAMP. 5. VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 25 MINUTES PRIOR TO SUDDEN ACCELERATION ON EACH OCCURRENCE (HOWEVER IN TWO COMPLETELY SEPARATE LOCATIONS). 6. THIS OCCURRED ON 2 OCCASIONS WITH 2 DIFFERENT DRIVERS. 7. BOTH INCIDENTS OCCURRED WHILE ON A FREEWAY. 8. DURATION OF INCIDENTS: APPROXIMATELY 10-20 SECONDS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A SOFTWARE BUG (I AM AN IT PROFESSIONAL AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEER BY DEGREE). THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. *TR

I HAVE A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY WHICH IS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT TAYLOR CHRYSLER DEALER. MY VAN WAS MAKING A VERY LOUD ROARING NOISE. I WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VAN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE WHEEL BEARINGS ARE UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO A DEFECT. WHEN THE MECHANIC CALLED HE PROCEEDED TO TELL ME T THAT THE FRONT BEARINGS ARE BAD WHICH WOULD BE COVERED. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE RIGHT REAR BEARING WAS BAD AS WELL BUT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. HE ALSO STATED THAT THERE IS NO WAY THAT WHEEL BEARINGS AT THIS MILEAGE SHOULD GO BAD THIS IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR PART OF A VEHICLE. I WOULD HOPE THAT YOU CAN DO AN INVESTIGATION TO SHOW HOW BAD THE REAR BEARING ARE AS WELL. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT AS WELL BUT, I AM GOING TO BE OUT $500.00 TO MAKE THE REPAIR.
