TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY.THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V234000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BUTTONS ON THE DRIVER DOOR THAT CONTROLS EVERYTHING STOPPED WORKING. IT'S HARD TO POSITION THE MIRRORS AN IS HARD TO SEE OUT OF THEM BECAUSE I CAN'T CONTROL THEM WITH THE NINE WORKING BUTTONS AN HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE SINCE THE WINDOW WON'T GO DOWN EITHER. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS RECALL FIXED AN HAVE MY NAME IN AT A COUPLE PLACES THAT SAY THEY ARE WAITING FOR PARTS TO COME IN FROM CHRYSLER. IT'S BEEN ALMOST A YEAR MAYBE NOW AN I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM ANYONE ON GETTING THIS RECALL FIXED. I'M VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS WHOLE RECALL SITUATION. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FIRST INDICATION OF THE FAILURE WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 2014. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. UPDATED 09/10/15*LJ
VEHICLE IGNITION TURNS OFF WHILE SLOWING DOWN (I.E. 15-30 MPH). POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES BECOME INOPERABLE ALMOST CAUSING MULTIPLE REAR END COLLISIONS. CAR MUST COME TO A STOP - BE PUT IN PARK - AND RESTARTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 9 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS - TWICE IN THE LAST TWO DAYS. CHRYSLER DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES AND DID ROUTINE TRANSMISSION AND FUEL INJECTION MAINTENANCE JUST OVER A WEEK AGO. PROBLEM HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. *TR
ALL OF THE METAL VALVE STEMS ARE CORRODED AND CRACKED, AND ONE OF OUR TIRES IS SLOWLY LEAKING AIR AS A RESULT. WE'VE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THE VALVE STEM CAN CONTINUE TO CRACK AND EVENTUALLY BREAK, CAUSING RAPID TIRE PRESSURE DEFLATION. THE RESULT CAN BE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE TIRE BLOWS OUT AND POSSIBLE CATASTROPHIC RESULTS. I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL OTHER CHRYSLER AND DODGE MINIVANS IN MY AREA WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I LIVE IN SYRACUSE, NY AND TO COMBAT 115 INCHES OF SNOW EACH YEAR, THEY USE ROAD SALT. THE METAL VALVE STEMS USED BY CHRYSLER DO NOT RESIST CORROSION. I REPLACED ONE AT THE DEALER AND COST ABOUT $250 BETWEEN THE PART AND REPROGRAMMING THE TPS. THIS IS A POTENTIAL DEADLY ISSUE AND CHRYSLER SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THE FAULTY VALVE STEMS THAT CORRODE AND CRACK. *TR

THE DEALER DISCONNECTED THE REAR QUARTER VENT WINDOW SWITCH, BUT DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE GIVEN. VEHICLE STALLS WITH LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, LOSS OF POWER BRAKES, AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING. STALLING EVENT NORMALLY OCCURS WITHIN FIRST FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING AND SEEMS TO OCCUR IN TEMPERATURES BELOW 40. RADIO STAYS POWERED DURING OCCURRENCE AND THIS CAN MAKE NOTICE OF THE STALL EVENT DIFFICULT UNTIL YOU NEED TO TURN, BRAKE OR ACCELERATE AND FIND YOU DO NOT HAVE ENGINE POWER. STALLING EVENTS HAVE OCCURRED WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC ON MAJOR STREETS WITHIN FIRST FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING AND OFTEN WHILE DRIVING IN PARKING LOTS AND SUBDIVISION SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A CHRYSLER DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND CHRYSLER CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. CHRYSLER DOES NOT FIND ANY TROUBLE CODES STORED TO INDICATE AN ISSUE. THE CHRYSLER DEALER INDICATES THIS MINIVAN IS NOT SUBJECT TO EXISTING CHRYSLER RECALLS THAT INDICATE A LOOSE KEY RELATED STALL.

THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V234000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) UNTIL NOVEMBER 12, 2014. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY THE KELLY BLUE BOOK VALUE FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,261.
I WAS DRIVING IN LIGHT TRAFFIC AND THE ENGINE SUDDENLY CUT OFF. I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40MPH. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO WRECK. THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES NOW IN THE FEW MONTHS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE ON OCTOBER 3, 2014. *TR

BRAKES ARE REQUIRING REPLACEMENT WAY TOO OFTEN. NUMEROUS REPORT ON WEB INDICATE THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT RELATED TO POOR PARTS/EXCESSIVE WEAR. I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT IT WILL BE $648 TO REPLACE THE FRONT PADS AND ALL THE PARTS (ROTOR, CALIPER, PADS) ON BOTH REAR WHEELS. THE AUTOMOTIVE CENTER TOLD ME THIS DEGREE OF WEAR IS EXCESSIVE FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 57000 MILES ON IT. THE VAN WAS BOUGHT USED AT 31000 AND I HAVE NO INFO ON WHETHER THERE WERE BRAKE PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THAT. SOME OWNERS ARE REPORTING HAVING TO HAVE REPLACED BRAKES (PADS PLUS OTHER COMPONENTS) THREE TIMES BEFORE THEIR VEHICLES REACHED 50000 MILES. *TR

I WAS DRIVING INTO WORK AROUND 5 A.M ON 10/27/14. I WAS GOING AROUND 35 MILES AN HOUR. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY HEADLIGHTS STARTED BLINKING, THEN ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT DASH BOARD WAS GOING OFF & HEARD A BINGING NOISE. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTY VAN SHUT OFF CAUSING ME TO LOSS STEERING & BRAKES ! I TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL AS HARD AS I COULD RIGHT TO AVOID GOING LEFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC & ENDED UP HITTING A TELEPHONE POLE. THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY EITHER. I WAS TAKING TO THE E.R. & DIGNOSED WITH A MILD CONCUSSION FROM HITTING MY HEAD OFF OF THE STEERING WHEEL & HAVE RIGHT GROIN AND HIP PAIN ! NOW I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THIS VAN SINCE THIS HAPPENED! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
VAN ENGINE WILL RANDOMLY STALL WHEN IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION WHICH LEAVES THE DRIVER UNEXPECTEDLY WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES (AND PERHAPS WITHOUT ACTIVE AIRBAGS?). THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN THE PAST MONTH. THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER IS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR FIND THE ISSUE. NO ACTIVE OR ANY RELEVANT CODES (DTC'S) STORED IN THE PCM. OBSERVATIONS: HAS ONLY HAPPENED ON A GRAVEL ROAD (LUCKILY - WITH LOW SPEEDS). TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED EVERY TIME. UPON COMING TO A STOP AND ONCE THE VAN IS PUT BACK INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL, IT WILL IMMEDIATELY RESTART. *TR

ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING NO POWER STEERING AND NO BRAKES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR. CAME TO A STOP AND TURNED IGNITION OFF COMPLETELY. LET CAR SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND TURNED CAR ON AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE BACK HOME AND PARK IT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED. TOOK TO DEALER AND DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE KEY FOB WHEN IN IGNITION CAN BE JARRED A LITTLE BIT CAUSING IT TO COME SLIGHTLY DISENGAGED FROM IGNITION. DEALER SAID THIS IS NOT PART OF ANY RECALL AND TO REMOVE EVERYTHING FROM THE KEY RING EXCEPT FOR KEY FOB. NOTHING THEY CAN DO. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION MONTHS AFTER THE FAILURE PROGRESSED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND WAS WAITING FOR THE DEALER TO DETERMINE IF THE PART WAS AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

AS I WAS DRIVING MY TOWN AND COUNTRY CHRYSLER MINIVAN THE ENGINE SHUTOFF ON A MAIN STREET. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY THE CAR BEHIND ME AS I COULD NOT ACCELERATE SINCE THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND I GLIDED OVER IN ORDER TO PUT THE VAN IN PARK AND RESTART THE VAN. MY KIDS WERE WITH ME. WE COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED IF THE CAR BEHIND ME HAD HIT ME. *TR
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS OUR CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY 2010 HAS HAD POWER FAILURE. A STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON, AND THEN THE POWER STEERING FAILS. IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VAN, THE SPEED OF THE CAR RAPIDLY DECLINES, AND IF I PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL THERE IS NO CHANGE IN SPEED, I HAVE TO PRESS VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE, AND THERE IS RESISTANCE, TO BRING THE VAN TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER THE VAN COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP, WE CAN RESTART THE VAN BY PLACING IT IN PARK, AND RESTARTING THE IGNITION. THIS POWER FAILURE HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES, AND WE ARE UNABLE TO PREDICT WHEN IT WILL OCCUR OR WHERE IT WILL OCCUR. *TR

I WAS CHARGED $626.75 FOR THIS REPAIR AT DEALER AND CLAIM OUR VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THIS RECALL. HOWEVER THIS VEHICLE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. ENGINE STALLING RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF POWER BRAKES, POWER STEERING AND AIRBAG LOSS. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL ON A COUNTY ROAD WHILE MY 3 CHILDREN ALL UNDER THE AGE OF 5 WERE IN THE VEHICLE.

OUR 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN HAS CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN JUST THE PAST 3 WEEKS. THERE IS NO WARNING SUCH AS A HESITATION OR WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD. THE FIRST INDICATION IS YOU LOSE POWER STEERING. THE NORMAL DASHBOARD LIGHTS STAY ON BUT THE VAN IS NOT RUNNING AND ITS DIFFICULT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND IT ALL HAPPENS SO FAST. WE HAVE BEEN VERY LUCKY THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ACCIDENT. WE TOOK ALL OTHER KEYS OFF OUR VAN KEY FOB AND WE CHECKED THE BATTERY AND IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. HEADLIGHTS RANDOMLY TURN OFF. AT FIRST YOU COULD MESS WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND THEY WOULD COME BACK ON NOW THEY WILL NOT. THEY FLASH ABOUT 5 TIMES AND NEITHER THE HEADLIGHTS OR THE BRIGHTS WILL WORK. I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND THEY SHUT OFF THIS IS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS AS I COULD NOT SEE A THING. THE ONLY LIGHTS THAT WILL WORK IS THE FOG LIGHTS. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS AND IT LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY FAMILY ON A 25 MPH ROAD (THANKFULLY NOT ON THE FREEWAY) WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS WERE STILL ON AND THE PARKING LIGHTS OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WERE STILL ON AS NORMAL, BUT NO HEADLIGHTS. WE PULLED OVER AND FIGURED WE COULD DRIVE HOME WITH JUST THE FOG LIGHTS ON. NOW WHEN I TRY TURNING ON THE HEADLIGHTS, THEY WILL FLASH A COUPLE OF TIMES AND THEN STAY OFF. SAME THING HAPPENS WHEN I TRY TURNING THE BRIGHTS ON. I HAVE TRIED TAKING THE BATTERY OUT FOR A FEW HOURS AND CHARGING IT, THEN PUTTING IT BACK IN, BUT IT DIDN'T HELP. TOLD ME THERE ARE 75 TIPM'S ON BACKORDER AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN I WILL GET ONE. MEANWHILE, SINCE THIS IS A HANDICAP VEHICLE FOR MY 14 YEAR OLD CHILD WHO IS A PARAPLEGIC, I HAVE TO RELY ON MY FOG LIGHTS TO GET HER TO SCHOOL AT 6:45 IN THE MORNING. I NEED THIS VEHICLE.
