MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ALONE, NORTH BOUND ON I 65 SOUTH OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY WHEN THE BACK END OF THE VEHICLE SWAYED AND SHE PROCEEDED TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OFF BY DRIVING ON TO THE RIGHT BERM. A TRACTOR WHICH WAS MOWING THE GRASS THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SWUNG UP ONTO THE PAVEMENT AND MY WIFE RAN INTO IT. THE TRACTOR DRIVER WAS EJECTED FROM THE TRACTOR. THE FRONT END OF THE TOWN & COUNTRY RECEIVED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. MY WIFE RECEIVED EXTENSIVE BRUISES TO HER RIGHT SIDE, AND HER FOREHEAD STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL. BOTH BONES IN HER LEFT ARM WERE BROKEN, PROBABLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. SHE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. TWO DAYS LATER SURGERY WAS REQUIRED AS PLATES AND SCREWS WERE INSTALLED IN HER LEFT ARM TO HOLD THE BONES TOGETHER AND A CAST APPLIED. INSPECTION OF THE FRONT SEAT AFTER THE ACCIDENT SHOWED THAT THE HORN IN THE STEERING WHEEL STILL WORKED BUT THE COVER OF THE AIR BAG IN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STILL SECURED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 12 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AS ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS IN THE VEHICLE POWERED DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE KEY WAS REPLACED BUT THE DEFECT WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE IGNITION MODULE WAS REPLACED IN 2011 UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V139000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER BUT THE DEFECT WAS RECURRING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

2010 CHRYSLER TOWN&COUNTRY MINI-VAN'S ELECTRIC SYSTEM QUIT (ENGINE AND ALL ELECTRIC SHUTDOWN) WHILE IN MOTION. DOES NOT RECOGNIZE KEY AND WILL NOT START. KEY FOB 'PANIC', 'LOCK' AND 'UNLOCK' ARE OPERATIONAL. DEALER REFUSES TO HONOR NHTSA RECALL REGARDING IGNITION PROBLEMS. RECEIVING MODULE NO. 5026875AE IS DEFECTIVE AND REQUIRES REPLACEMENT W/TWO KEYS (56046706AE) DUE TO RF DIFFERENCE IN OLD AND REPLACEMENT KEY W/RECEIVING UNIT. DEALER IS DEMANDING $1,200.00 (PLUS WASHINGTON S/T) AND $120 'DIAGNOSTIC' FEE FOR REPAIR. REQUESTING ANY HELP AND ADVICE AVAILABLE. *TR
HAD LOCAL DEALER CHECK TRANS HARD SHIFT 2ND AND THIRD AT 15-20 MPH COLD START, UNDER WARRANTY REPLACE TRANS KIT FLUID AND SEALER. STILL HAD PROBLEM STILL NOT AS HARD RETURN TO NORMAL DEALER ASK TO CHECK TRANS AND FIND OUT OTHER DEALER PARTS CHANGE. FOUND FLUID HIGH AND RESET TRANS CONTROLLER AND PRESSURE LINE COUNTER STILL HAVING PROBLEM AT 23,527 MILES WARRANTY RUNNING OUT. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING MY TOWN AND COUNTRY CHRYSLER MINIVAN THE ENGINE SHUTOFF ON THE INTERSTATE. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY THE MULTIPLE CARS BEHIND ME AS I COULD NOT ACCELERATE SINCE THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND PULLED OVER IN ORDER TO PUT THE VAN IN PARK AND RESTART THE VAN. MY WHOLE FAMILY WAS WITH ME. WE COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED! *TR
THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH MY FRONT AND REAR BRAKES SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE NOW BEEN TO THE DEALER SERVICE FOUR TIME TO HAVE THIS ISSUED FIX. STILL NOT FIXED!!! WHEN I GO TO BRAKE, THE WHOLE VEHICLE SHUTTERS, BRAKES GRIND AND SQUEAK HORRIBLY!! I HAVE SKIDDER SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP!! IN JUNE 2013 MY ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. I LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. I WAS TRAVELING <10 MPH. I HAD ANOTHER INCIDENT LATER THAT SAME YEAR IN OCTOBER. THE INCIDENTS WERE SO RANDOM AND I THOUGHT PERHAPS I DIDN'T TURN THE KEY FOB ALL THE WAY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE VIA THE REMOTE START SYSTEM. AGAIN IN 2014 IT OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES, SO I STARTED TRYING TO DETERMINE THE COMMON DENOMINATOR, BUT COULD FIND NONE. THE SERVICE STATION I BROUGHT IT TO COULDN'T DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR DUE TO THE INABILITY TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IN 2015, THE PROBLEM BECAME MORE FREQUENT AND TODAY I AM NOW EXPERIENCING THIS 2-3 TIMES PER DAY 3-4 TIMES PER WEEK AT SPEEDS TRAVELING UP TO 40 MPH. I BROUGHT IT TO MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND AFTER HAVING MY VEHICLE FOR 5 DAYS THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR DUE TO THE INABILITY TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS TRULY BECOME A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS I ALWAYS LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. TYPICALLY, I PUT MY HAZARDS ON, PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, RESTART IT, RETURN TO DRIVE, AND TURN HAZARDS OFF. HOWEVER, I CAME VERY CLOSE TO BEING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN THIS OCCURRED WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. I AM AT A LOSS AS WHAT TO DO.
THE IGNITION WOULD NOT MOVE PAST THE ACCESSORY MODE EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE KEY WOULD NOT LEAVE THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE LEFT RUNNING FOR A SHORT TIME BEFORE THE KEY WOULD FINALLY MOVE. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OTHER ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION AND KEY INCLUDING THE KEY FALLING OUT, COMING LOOSE AND CAUSING THE ELECTRONICS TO SHUT OFF (GEAR SELECTOR STILL IN PARK PREVENTED THE ENGINE FROM BEING SHUT OFF), INCLUDING TURN SIGNALS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE FOURTH RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT NO CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED AFTER SUBSEQUENT FAILURES AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO DEFECTIVE WIN MODULES. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V139000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT INFORMED HER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSORS, (A FEDERAL MANDATED SAFETY DEVISE). MY 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY ONLY HAS 13,930 MILES AND WHILE DRIVING THE LEFT FRONT TPMS CAME APART AND RELEASED THE AIR OUT OF THE TIRE. I KNEW THE TIRE WAS GOING FLAT BEFORE THE DASH LIGHTS REFLECTED A PROBLEM. AFTER CALLING FOR ROAD SIDE SERVICE, I WAS INFORMED THIS IS A CURRENT PROBLEM AS THE MATERIAL USED IS DIE-CAST (POT METAL) WHICH IS VERY CORROSIVE TO THE ELEMENTS. I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME $74.00 FOR THE SENSOR AND $20.00 LABOR TO FIX IT. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION THE OTHER 3 ON THE CAR ARE VERY CORRODED AND SPLIT. THIS WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $400.00 TO REPLACE ALL OF THEM AND THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE THEM WITH THE SAME INFERIOR COMPONENT THAT JUST FAILED IN 3 YEARS TIME AND 13,930 MILES. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE FAILING IN THIS SHORT OF TIME AND HAS NOT HAD A RECALL. HOW CAN A CAR MANUFACTURE MEET SUCH A SAFETY MANDATE WITH SUCH A DEFECTIVE PART. WHAT ABOUT THE AIR BAGS? ARE THEY JUST AS CHEAP, ARE THEY GOING TO WORK WHEN YOU NEED THEM? LOW PRESSURE ON TIRES CAN CAUSE "LOSS OF CONTROL" AND "ACCIDENTS" AS STATED BY THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. I CAN NOT EVEN FIND A CERTIFIED THIRD PARTY TIRE REPAIR SHOP THAT WILL FIX THE FLAT TIRE BECAUSE IF THEY FIX IT THE SAFE WAY BY USING THE TRUSTED RUBBER STEM IT VIOLATES THE FEDERAL MANDATED SAFETY DEVISE, WHICH IS ILLEGAL AND THEY DO NOT WANT THE LIABILITY. THEY EVEN REFUSE TO FIX THE FLAT WITH CHRYSLERS INFERIOR PART. DO PEOPLE NEED TO DIE BEFORE ANYONE UNDERSTANDS HOW DANGEROUS THIS COULD BE AT 55 TO 70 MILE PER HOUR AND HAVE THE AIR RUSH OUT WITHIN A FEW SECONDS? IT SHOULD BE A CRIME TO ALLOW A CAR MANUFACTURE TO USE A INFERIOR PRODUCT JUST TO SAY THEY MET A FEDERAL MANDATED SAFETY DEVISE. *TR
ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL SERVICE MANAGER, MY VAN DOES NOT COME UNDER RECALL L25 BECAUSE IT WAS BUILT IN AUG.2010 AND HAS THE NEW AND IMPROVED IGNITION SWITCH. I DON'T AGREE! THERE HAVE BEEN 5 OR MORE INCIDENTS WITH 3 DURING THE VAN MOVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR IN FOR THIS REPAIR 3 TIMES AT THE MADISON, CT DEALERSHIP. WE WERE TOLD DIFFERENT OPINIONS AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I CLEARLY STATED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE 3 MOVING STALLS WERE ALL WITH MY WIFE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, ONE WITH MY DAUGHTER. WE WERE VERY LUCKY THAT NO ONE HIT THE CAR WHEN THERE WERE THESE SUDDEN STALLS.. I POINTED OUT TO THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT MY OPINION IS THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS MUCH TO LOOSE BUT HE SAID THAT IS THE WAY THEY ARE. I DON'T AGREE AGAIN! WE HAVE HAD PLYMOUTH AND CHRYSLER VANS SINCE 1985 AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. *TR

WHAT I TRACKED THE CAUSE DOWN TO WAS THE "FIX" WHICH WAS INSTALLED SOME TIME AGO. WHAT IS HAPPENING, THE FIX DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY ALLOW THE IGNITION KEY TO RETURN BACK TO THE NORMAL ACCESSORY POSITION WHEN DRIVING. THUS, WHEN IN AN IN-BETWEEN POSITION, THIS ENGINE MAY BE RUNNING, BUT THE TURN SIGNALS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT (RADIO, ETC.) WHICH SHOULD OPERATE, DOES NOT. *TR
SOON AFTER PURCHASING THE MINIVAN, THE HEADLIGHTS BEGAN TO CUT OUT INTERMITTENTLY. AT FIRST, IT WAS ONLY DURING THE SUMMER WHEN THE WEATHER WAS VERY WARM AND HUMID. IN ADDITION, WE FOUND THAT IF WE STARTED THE MINIVAN AND LIGHTS WORKED THEY WOULD STAY ON THROUGHOUT OUR DRIVE BUT THAT SOON CHANGED...THE LIGHTS CUT OUT ON US ONE NIGHT AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT A HALF AN HOUR. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT WAS VERY DARK. WE TRIED TO BRING THIS ISSUE UP TO OUR DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED THAT OUR CAR DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. NOW, OUR MINIVAN LIGHTS DO NOT WORK AT ALL...THEY FLICKER OR FLASH THREE TIMES LIKE THEY ARE TRYING TO COME ON BUT NEVER ACTUALLY TURN ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES!
THE VEHICLE I WAS CURRENTLY DRIVING IS HAVING A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM PUTTING A MALFUNCTIONING KEY READER MAKING THE CAR USELESS. I DID GET THE RECALL LETTER I DID SEND THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE NEAREST DEALER THEY DESIRED BUT IT'S TAKING MORE TIME THEN I EXPECTED I CALLED THE DEALER AFTER ONE MONTH AND ASKED HOW MUCH LONGER THEY REMAINED AWKWARDLY SILENT AND THEY SAID ANOTHER MONTH THERE IS A LINE OF VEHICLEA LIKE MINE AND MINE IS NUMBER 110 AND THEY ARE BARELY ON 50.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A GREEN ARROW IN MY 2010 MINIVAN WHEN SOMEONE RAN A RED LIGHT AND HIT THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR CAUSING MY VAN TO SPIN THEN FLIP OVER LANDING ON THE DRIVER?S SIDE FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, THE THING IS NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED NO SIDE EVEN THOUGH BOTH SIDES WERE HIT, WHY? I NEEDED 13 STITCHES BETWEEN TWO FINGERS. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE EXACT DATE IN JAN 2013 SO HAD TO FILL IN AN INCORRECT DAY NUMBER SO THAT THE FORM WOULD ACCEPT THE YEAR AND MONTH. MY HUSBAND WAS IN A WHEELCHAIR AT THE TIME AND LIFE WAS HARD. HOWEVER, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IN SALISBURY, MD WHERE THE CAR HAD BEEN PURCHASED AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. I AM SURE THEY NEVER REPORTED THIS AND NOW THAT I HAVE FOUND THIS FORM, I DECIDED TO MAKE AN OFFICIAL REPORT.
