I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE BY MAIL AT THE END OF 2014 FOR A REAR QUARTER VENT WINDOW SWITCH. MY 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY WAS TAKEN TO THE NEAREST OFFICIAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN JANUARY, AND THE SWITCH WAS DISCONNECTED. THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE IT IN STOCK. AS OF AUGUST 2015, THE PART IS STILL ON BACK ORDER WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THIS IS STILL AN OPEN ISSUE. I FIND THIS TO BE HIGHLY UNSATISFACTORY & UNACCEPTABLE TO CONTINUE TO GET RECALL NOTICES IN THE MAIL FOR A PART THAT THE MANUFACTURER CANNOT SUPPORT GETTING OUT TO REQUESTED DEALERS TO SERVICE THEIR CUSTOMERS!

I HAVE A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY AFFECTED BY NHTSA RECALL 14V234000 DATED MAY 2014 FOR RISK OF ELECTRICAL FIRE. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND AM TOLD EACH TIME THAT REPAIR PART IS STILL UNAVAILABLE. MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDS DISABLING THE SWITCH TO REDUCE RISK OF ELECTRICAL FIRE BUT THIS RENDERS WINDOWS INOPERABLE AND I FIND IT AN UNACCEPTABLE LONG-TERM SOLUTION. I CALLED THE CHRYSLER RECALL HOTLINE ON NOVEMBER 26, 2014 (MORE THAN 6 MONTHS AFTER RECALL) AND WAS TOLD THERE IS STILL NO ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL FOR REPAIR PART. I BELIEVE MANUFACTURER HAS FAR EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR RECALL REPAIR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY DISENGAGED THE VENT WINDOW SWITCH. THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V234000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

HAD TO REPLACE BOTH REAR HUBS. WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL A FEW MONTHS PAST MY VEHICLE. *TR
UPON ACCELERATING FROM A GREEN LIGHT, THE RPMS JUMPED AS IF I PUSHED THE PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR. AS SOON AS I TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR THIS HAPPENED SO I LET GO OF THE PEDDLE AND THE RPM CONTINUED TO RISE AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I SLAMMED THE BREAKS AND FOR A FEW MOMENTS I WAS USING THE BREAKS TO FIGHT THE ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT 20 SECONDS OF THIS ACCELERATING THE PROBLEM STOPPED ON ITS OWN AND I COULD TAKE OVER CONTROL AGAIN. THIS SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN ON NOVEMBER 15TH AND ON THIS DAY IT OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. *TR

I JUST GOT THE VEHICLE BACK FROM HAVING REPAIRS AND THE UCONNECT DIDN'T WORK ALREADY. (WHICH THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED DIDN'T WORK AGAIN AFTER ONLY 20 MINUTES) I DROVE IT BACK AND LEFT IT FOR DIAGNOSIS. THEY DIAGNOSED :SOP SPECIAL PARTS ORDERED. AND I WAS TOLD NOT TO TURN ON DVD PLAYER UNTIL PARTS CAME IN. *TR

HAVING HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND BEING TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP ,THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM, I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS THEY KEY FOB SO I PAID TO HAVE A NEW ONE MADE. THEN THE PROBLEM STILL CONTINUED AND PROGRESSED: NOW NOT ONLY WOULD THE CAR GO CRAZY WITH ALL LIGHTING AND POWER INSIDE TURNING OFF AND WIPERS GOING CRAZY, BUT NOW WHENEVER THE NEW KEY FOB WAS USED FROM THE OUTSIDE IT WOULD NOT UNLOCK THE DOORS BUT THE DASH WOULD LIGHT UP. THE UCONNECT ALSO STOOPED WORKING COMPLETELY! DEALER DIAGNOSED: KEY FAILING FAULT STORED FOR KEY IN SYSTEM THAT IS FAILING,1 56046708AE TRASNMTR-INTEGRATED KEY FOB ,CUT NEW KEY AND PROGRAM TO VEHICLE. 15 AMP FUSE BLOWN, CHECKED WIRING G AND FOUND LISTING FOR 20 AMP FUSE. REPLACED FUSE AND TEST OPERATION.(SINCE I NEVER REPLACED ANY FUSES, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE THEY ARE. I HAVE TO ASSUME THE WRONG FUSE WAS PUT IN EITHER DURING MANUFACTURING OR BY A DEALERSHIP) NOTE: THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM VEHICLE WENT BACK YET AGAIN. SEE ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS. *TR
AT ONLY 20087 MILES HAD TO HAVE REAR BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND ROTORS TURNED POOR QUALITY MATERIALS MUST HAVE BEEN USED TO REQUIRE THIS SERVICE AT THIS LOW MILEAGE HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND THOSE BRAKES LASTED ATLEAST 40000 MILES. *TR

KEY FOB STOPPED WORKING AND ALL WIPERS WENT OFF ON THEIR OWN AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. THE ELECTRONIC VEHICLE MONITORING SYSTEM WENT OFF TOTALLY. ALL LIGHTS AND POWER(RADIO WINDOW CONTROLS ETC) INSIDE THE CAR TURNED OFF. THE HEADLIGHT WENT OFF. THEN FINE FOR ABOUT A WEEK K THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID: CHECKED GROUNDS TO CLUSTER. FUSES ARE WORKING PROPERLY,SO NO REPAIRS MADE AT THIS TIME. A DAY LATER ALL OF THE ABOVE HAPPENED AGAIN! THEN AGAIN AND AGAIN. ON AND OFF THIS WENT FOR A FEW DAYS, UNTIL I COULD GET IT BACK IN YET AGAIN TO GET LOOKED AT......NOTHING IS FIXED. *TR

RECALL NOTICE P25/NHTSA 14V-234. REAR QUARTER VENT WINDOW SWITCH. I WAS FIRST NOTIFIED OF THIS IN SEPTEMBER 2014. ON 26 SEPTEMBER 2014, CHRYSLER DEALER DEMONTROND DISCONNECTED THE SWITCH AND TOLD ME I WOULD BE NOTIFIED TO RETURN TO HAVE THE REPLACEMENT SWITCH INSTALLED. SINCE THEN I HAVE CALLED DEMONTROND ON 09 JANUARY 2015, 24 AUGUST 2015 AND 14 MARCH 2016 TO EXPEDITE, AND EACH TIME I'M TOLD CHRYSLER HAVEN'T SHIPPED THE REPLACEMENT SWITCH TO THEM! THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAD JUST DROVE TO THE STORE VEHICLE RAN FINE. CAME OUT OF STORE AND WENT TO START THE CAR. WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR I NOTICE THE STARTER TRYING TO TURN OVER BUT WAS NOT STARTING. I TRIED STARTING IT 6 TIME AND FINALLY STARTED. I WENT TO AUTO ZONE HAD THE CHECK STARTER SYSTEM. BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND STARTER PASSED. WAS INFORMED COULD BE BAD GAS OR FUEL PUMP GOING OUT. SO GOT GAS TREATMENT AND AFTER A WEEKEND AND HALF OF FUEL TREATMENT AND CHANGE OF GAS WAS HAVING SAME ISSUE. WELL THIS LAST SATURDAY I WENT DAUGHTER'S GAME AND HEARD WHAT SOUNDS TO BE AN ELECTRIC MOTOR FRONT UNDER THE VAN DRIVER REAR TIRE. DIDN'T MIND IT OVER THE 5 HOUR GAME I CHECKED ON THE VAN MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE SOUNDS WAS STILL THERE. END UP HAVING TO GET JUMP STARTED THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. WAS ABLE TO GET THE VAN HOME. I GOT AN ELECTRICAL SCHEMATIC ON THE 3.6L ENGINE PERFORMANCE CIRCUIT. AND COME TO FIND OUT THAT THE FUEL RELAY IS INSIDE THE TIPM. I AM ABLE TO PULL THE MAC FUSE TO STOP THE PUMP AFRAID OF WHAT THIS MAY CAUSE ISSUES WITH I AM DISCONNECTING BATTERY WHEN I GET OUT OF VAN. I CONTACT DEALER AND TOLD THEM OF MY FINDS AND FOUND OUT NOT COVERED. SO AT THIS TIME IT IS HARD TO START AND FUEL PUMP RUNS AFTER KEY IS OUT OF IGNITION. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON FURTHER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE COMPONENT WAS NOT DISCONNECTED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED AN APPOINTMENT TO RE-INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES NOW, SO I THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT IT. I WILL START MY VEHICLE BY TAPPING THE BRAKE AND PRESSING THE ENGINE BUTTON. THE CAR IGNITION TURNS ON AS NORMAL. I PROCEED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE AND THE ENGINE HAS DIED WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. MY STEERING WHEEL CANNOT TURN AT ALL, THE GAS PEDAL DOES NOTHING, THE CAR IS DEAD AT THIS POINT. I HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKE TO NOT SLIDE INTO TRAFFIC OR THE CAR PARKED BEHIND ME. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND "TURN OFF" THE ENGINE AND RESTART IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT IT ONLY OCCURS WHEN I'M STARTING UP THE VEHICLE, NOT WHEN I'M ALREADY GOING: IT HAS NEVER "DIED" OR "TURNED OFF" WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. THIS JUST STARTED HAPPENING IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND IT HAS HAPPENED REGULARLY AND IT IS SCARY WHEN IT HAPPENS, SO I THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT IT. *TR

DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPEN ON IT'S OWN. WIFE CLOSED IT,AFTER THAT IT WOULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE AT ALL.CALLED DEALER SHIP AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE LOCKING SYSTEM ON THAT DOOR BECAUSE IT HAD BEGUN TO MAKE A NOISE WHEN IT FINALLY START OPENING. AND ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE PASSENGER DOOR DID THE SAME AND I'M HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING IT FIXED. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER A YEAR FOR THE RECALL ON MY MINIVAN VENT WINDOW SWITCH TO BE REPLACED. I WENT TO THE DEALER (CONTEMPORARY CHRYSLER IN MILFORD NH) IN DEC 2014 & THEY TOLD ME THE PART WAS ON ORDER & WOULD BE IN SOON. IN THE MEANTIME, THEY NEED TO DISCONNECT THE SWITCH. I HAVE SINCE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES & AM TOLD I AM ON THE LIST BUT THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. IT IS VERY INCONVENIENT TO BE WITHOUT THESE WINDOWS FOR OVER A YEAR. THIS CAR IS PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW & I HAVE TO DEAL WITH NON-FUNCTIONING VENT WINDOWS. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN CHRYSLER. I HAVE JUST RECEIVED A 2ND NOTICE ON THIS RECALL P25/NHTSA 14V-234 TOMGET IT FIXED. I DON'T THINK A YEAR IS A REASONABLE TIME TO WAIT FOR RECALL REPAIR. I'D GET IT FIXED IF THE PART WAS AVAILABLE. WE PURCHASED A CHRYSLER 2012 TOWN & COUNTRY VAN. WE CHOOSE AND PAID EXTRA FOR A VAN WITH THE FEATURE OFFERED, BACK-UP CAMERA, BLIND-SIDE DETECTION, SIDE AIRBAGS. THESE FEATURES ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO ME AS I'M A GRANDMA OF 11 LITTLE GRANDCHILDREN AND FELT THESE FEATURES ADDED ANOTHER LEVEL OF SAFETY WHEN AROUND THEM. A WARNING CAME UP ON MY DASH, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A GARAGE WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLIND SPOT MODULE WAS NOT SEALED AND THE ELEMENTS HAD GOTTEN IN AND CORRODED THE COMPUTER MODULE. THE MODULE CONTROLS BLIND SIDE DETECTION, BACKUP CAMERA, NAVIGATION DIRECTION AND MORE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS 50,400. I WOULD CONSIDER IT A FLUKE IF IT WERENT FOR 2 OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, ONE WITH A 2011 TOWN & COUNTRY AND THE OTHER HAS A 2012 TOWN & COUNTRY. I CONTACTED OUR CHRYSLER GARAGE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY ARE SEEING THIS ISSUE A LOT!! THE MODULE IS IN A LOCATION WHERE RAIN, SLEET, SNOW AND SALT GET IN CONTACT WITH IT AND THE MODULE IS NOT ELEMENTS TIGHT.
