1 WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT MY VAN THE CAR STARTED VIBRATING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED (WAITING AT THE LIGHT). I WENT TO THE DEALER TO ASK THEM IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THEY FIRST SAY THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND THEN I READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SOME VEHICLES HAVING DEBRIS ON THE ENGINES, SO THEY REPLACED HALF OF THE HEADS IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE STOPPED VIBRATING, BUT THEN I NOTICE THAT WHEN SPEEDING OR SLOWING DOWN THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPONDS TO THE CHANGE IN GEARS OR ISN?T ACCELERATING LIKE IT SHOULD. ALSO WHILE COMING TO A STOP THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT DOWNSHIFT CAUSING THE CAR TO LUNGE FORWARD. IT WOULD VIBRATE WHEN COMING TO STOP. *TR
WHEN I START THE CAR IT WILL RUN FINE AND THEN THE IGNITION SWITCH WILL TURN OFF LEAVING ME WITH STEERING AND BRAKING POWER DEAD. SOMETIMES I WILL TRY TO START THE CAR AND IT WILL NOT START AND THE STARTER WILL JUST KEEP GOING SO THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET THE STARTER TO STOP IS TO PUT IT IN DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND FORTUNATELY I WAS DRIVING AT LOW SPEED OR STOPPED. HAD IT HAPPENED AT HIGHER SPEEDS OR ON THE FREEWAY, IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A DEADLY CRASH. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH AND REPLACED THE SWITCH. SO FAR THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RECURRED. MY COMPLAINT IS ALSO THAT I HAVE ASKED THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER MOTORS FOR REIMBURSEMENT, $450.00 AND SO FAR THEY HAVE REFUSED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT AN ITEM ON THEIR RECALL LIST AND I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY ON MILEAGE. I KNOW THAT CHRYSLER HAS KNOWN ABOUT DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCHES FOR SEVERAL YEARS SO WHY HAVE THEY NOT NOTIFIED OWNERS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, LIKE GM HAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
WHEN TRAVELING TO FLORIDA FROM BUFFALO, THE BATTERY LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON JUST OUTSIDE OF ORLANDO,FLORIDA. IT SLOWING STARTED TO AFFECT THE VEHICLE WITH THE TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING AND RESULTED IN THE ENGINE RUNNING AT 5000 RPM JUST TO MAINTAIN 55 MPH IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WITH NO PULL OFF TO SAFELY LEAVE THE HIGHWAY. THE BATTERY FINALLY DIED WHEN WE REACHED OUR DESTINATION AND IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR THAT HAD MALFUNCTIONED. THE TEMPERATURE THAT DAY WAS OVER 100 F. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT HAD I NOT OVERWORKED THE ENGINE. *TR
REAR BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. 5 SETS OF PADS, NEW CALIPER AT 35000 MILES AND NEW ROTORS. EVEN AFTER REPLACING EVERYTHING BUT ONE REAR CALIPER IT STILL STICKS AND HAS A BURNING SMELL WITH ALL NEW PARTS ON DRIVER SIDE. BRAKES ON THIS VAN ARE ABSOLUTE GARBAGE AND CHRYSLER NEEDS A RECALL ON THESE BRAKES AND PARTS. *TR
I LEASED A NEW VAN ON 5/10/12. IN THE SUMMER OF 2013 I WAS INFORMED BY INDEPENDENT TIRE COMPANY THAT MY TIRES WERE IN VERY BAD SHAPE, AND I WAS GOING TO NEED NEW ONES. I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP BECAUSE TIRES SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED AFTER 18,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD TO BRING VEHICLE IN AND THEY WOULD CHECK IT OUT. UNFORTUNATELY, I WORK FULL TIME AND WAS NOT ABLE TO TAKE CAR IN WITHOUT A LOANER VEHICLE (WHICH THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE). WHEN WINTER HIT, THE TIRE ISSUE BECAME VERY NOTICEABLE, AS MY VEHICLE HAS NO TRACTION WHATSOEVER. WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE GUY ABOUT IT. HE ENCOURAGED ME TO BRING IT IN AS SOON AS MY SCHEDULE ALLOWED IT. IN THE MEANTIME, I DID RESEARCH ON THESE TIRES AND FOUND MANY STORIES OF ABNORMAL WEAR AT A FRACTION OF THE LIFESPAN OF THE TIRE. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE TIRES BECAUSE TIRES ARE EXCLUDED. MY NEIGHBOR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS TIRES AFTER 17,000 AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE TIRES, BUT TO REPLACE THEM ON SO MANY VEHICLES WOULD BE TOO EXPENSIVE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WE GOT A NOTICE TO SEND OUR VAN IN FOR THE RECALL ON THE SWITCH FOR THE BACK WINDOWS. WE TOOK THE VAN TO LAURELCHRYSLERJEEP IN JOHNSTOWN PA. 15904 ON JULY 3RD 2013. HAVE CALLED MANY TIMES AND THEY SAID THE PART IS NOT IN. OVER 2 YEARS. THAT IS BULL [XXX]. ALL THEY DID WAS UNPLUG THE WINDOWS AND THAT IS THE FIX??? I THINK NOT. I KEEP GETTING A NOTICE FROM YOUR OFFICE TO FIX IT. TRY SENDING THE NOTICE TO THE PEOPLE THAT CAN FIX IT NOT TO ME!!! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT CONTROL PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE A THERMAL EVENT OCCURRED IN THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. OUR VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH POWER OPENING AND CLOSING SIDE DOORS. MY FIVE-YEAR-OLD SON WAS OUTSIDE THE CAR, LEANING AGAINST THE CAR WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPEN AND HIS HAND AGAINST THE B PILLAR. MY WIFE, NOT KNOWING WHERE HIS HAND WAS, STARTED THE DOOR CLOSING USING THE POWER FEATURE. THE DOOR CLOSED AND LATCHED COMPLETELY, CRUSHING TWO FINGERS OF MY SON'S HAND IN THE PROCESS. THANKFULLY, THERE WERE NO BROKEN BONES AND ONLY MINOR INJURY, BUT THE DOOR DID NOT HESITATE TO CLOSE WHATSOEVER DESPITE THE OBSTRUCTION. UPON RETURNING HOME FROM THE EMERGENCY ROOM, I TESTED THE ANTI-PINCH SENSOR ON THE DOOR AS IT CLOSED USING A BLOCK OF WOOD. THE FORCE EXERTED ON THE BLOCK WAS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH THAT I HAD TROUBLE HOLDING ON TO THE BLOCK AND WAS SURPRISED AT THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE EXERTED. THE DOOR DID EVENTUALLY REVERSE, BUT ONLY AFTER CRUSHING THE BLOCK OF WOOD TO A DEPTH OF APPROXIMATELY 1/8 INCH. THE OBSTRUCTION SENSORS ARE COMPLETELY INSUFFICIENT TO AVOID INJURY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SIGNALS AND THE REVERSE CAMERA FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT ALSO RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V234000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) IN JUNE OF 2014. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
ON APRIL 12 2013 WAS THE FIRST PROBLEM THAT STARTED WITH THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON WHILE DRIVING. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THEM OFF UNTIL I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL EXPERIENCE WITH THE VEHICLE TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT SOMETIMES WON'T EVEN START UP, JUST FLASHES BLIND SPOT UNAVAILABLE. ALSO THE ALARM GOES OFF AT RANDOM TIMES. THE SLIDING PASSENGER DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE WHEN VEHICLE IS OFF AND SITTING IN DRIVE WAY. BOTH DOORS WILL OPEN HALF WAY THEN SUDDENLY START TO CLOSE WITH NOTHING BLOCKING THE DOOR. POWER STOW AND GO MALFUNCTIONS ALL THE TIME!!!!. THE VEHICLE IS PUTTING OFF A VERY HEAVY GASOLINE SMELL NOW WHEN IT STARTS. I FEEL LIKE THIS CAR IS POSSESSED. CHRYSLER WILL NOT HELP ME WITH THIS SITUATION. THEY ARE PUTTING MY FAMILY IN DANGER EVERYDAY! *TR
A MONTH AFTER BUYING THE VAN, IT STARTED CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING IT TO BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. LUCKILY I WAS WHERE I COULD PULL OVER EVERY TIME.IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ANOTHER TIME IT DID IT MY HUSBAND TOOK IT BACK FOR A RECALL PART BUT THEY TOLD US THAT PART HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT CUTTING OFF. THE MOST SERIOUS TIME OCCURRED ON 4/29/14 DURING RUSH HOUR 5:00 PM)GETTING ON I85 IN GASTONIA, NC MERGING ONTO I85 AND THE VAN CUT OFF. I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN GOING OVER 25 MILES AND EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN. I WAS LUCKY TO GET IT IN THE EMERGENCY LANE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO SCARED IN ALL MY LIFE. I HAD MY DAUGHTER/GRANDDAUGHTER SCREAMING/CRYING. NO WAY ANY OF US WOULD HAVE SURVIVED IF I HAD MADE IT TO THE INNER LANE.THIS TIME A NEW LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH.TOLD IT WAS A THROTTLE LIGHT, MANY ATTEMPTS TO START THE VAN, IT DIDN'T START. I CALLED LAKE NORMAN (BOUGHT THERE)AND WAS TOLD THERE'S A PLACE IN GASTONIA. I CALLED AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND ASKED FOR A TOW TRUCK.THE VAN WAS TOWED TO GASTONIA CHRYSLER. THE SERVICE TECH TRIED TO START IT WITH NO LUCK. HE SAID WAS BETTER THEN IT STARTING AND RESETTING EVERYTHING. HE CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND EVERYTHING WAS READING RIGHT ON HIS MACHINES. HE TOLD ME HE WAS GOING TO DROP THE GAS TANK AND TAKE THE FUEL PUMP OUT. WHEN HE RAN IT THIS TIME THE FUEL PUMP HAD NO FUEL PRESSURE. HE ALSO SAID THERE WAS NO GAS, IN WHICH I HAD A LITTLE OVER A QUARTER OF A TANK ON THE FUEL GAUGE. HE SAID FUEL PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE. REPLACED IT AT $777.92. IT IS SEPT AND STARTING IT AGAIN THE JERKING LIKE THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION IS GONNA FALL OUT. THIS VAN ENGINES WERE RECALLED FOR DEBRIS IN ENGINE THRUOCT 2011. MY ENGINE WAS BUILT IN NOV. ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED. NOW MY STEREO TURNS OFF AND FUSES ARE GOOD.PLEASE HELP, I SEE OTHER RECALLS ON CHRYSLERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. *TR
CHRYSLER IS HIDING A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION TO ENGINE SOFTWARE. THE VAN IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHEN IT HESITATES AND AND THEN JOLTS FORWARD. THIS OCCURS BOTH WHEN THE CAR IS AT A DEAD STOP OR WHEN CHANGING LANES IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE JUMPS TO HIGH RPM WHEN YOU GIVE IT A LITTLE GAS, BUT THEN IT DOES NOT SHIFT TO THE PROPER GEAR UNLESS YOU LET OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL COMPLETELY. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE DEALERSHIPS FOR 3 YEARS. I THINK THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE CHRYSLER DOESN'T KNOW. THE LURCHING FORWARD AND HESITATION BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION.AND ENGINE RPM IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM!!!!!!.
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY TOURING VAN ON 8/4/2012 AT YOUR DEALERSHIP. VIN [XXX]. THIS IS OUR 6TH OR 7TH CHRYSLER/DODGE VAN. ON FEBRUARY 7, 2013 AS I WAS APPROACHING THE CVS DRUG STORE SIDE PARKING LOT IN PLYMOUTH WITH MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE VAN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND WENT OVER THE SIDEWALK AND CONTACTED THE BUILDING. THE RESULT WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE CAR, $5734.90 AND SOME CRACKED RIBS, BRUISED BREAST BONE AND WHIP LASH LIKE INJURY TO MY NECK. I WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AT PLYMOUTH HOSPITAL BY THE PLYMOUTH FIRE & RESCUE. THEY TOOK X-RAYS AND A CT SCAN. THE PLYMOUTH POLICE INVESTIGATED THE ACCIDENT. THE CVS MANAGER SAID THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. THIS ALL HAPPENED SO FAST. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I AM A GOOD SAFE DRIVER WITH NO MOVING VEHICLE VIOLATIONS. WE HAVE A 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN PURCHASED NEW AT CARLSON MOTORS IN CONCORD AND A SIMILAR THING HAPPENED TO MY HUSBAND WHEN EXITING A STEEP DRIVEWAY ON WEST SHORE ROAD IN HEBRON. THE ASPEN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD BUT SINCE HE WAS BRAKING TO GO DOWN THE STEEP DRIVEWAY, HE WAS ABLE TO STOP IT AND PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL. I FOLLOWED THE ASPEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING DOWN I-93 TO CONCORD HOWEVER THE ASPEN ENGINE SUDDENLY QUIT JUST BEFORE THE SOUTHBOUND REST AREA. HE WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT INTO THE REST AREA AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK TO FINISH THE TRIP TO CONCORD. CARLSON?S HAD THE CAR FOR 2 OR 3 DAYS AND SAID THEY REPLACED A COMPUTER COMPONENT UNDER THE ORIGINAL FACTORY WARRANTY. I AM VERY WORRIED THAT THERE IS SOMETHING THAT GOES WRONG WITH THE "FLY-BY-WIRE" ELECTRONIC ACCELERATOR ON THESE CARS. THINGS DO GO WRONG WITH COMPUTERS! WHEN BACKING UP I CAME TO A STOP. I SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. THE VAN FELT LIKE IT WAS HIT FROM BEHIND. SOMETHING IN THE TRANSMISSION CAUSES A HARD BANG. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT 40% OF THE TIME. I HAD IT INTO 2 CHRYSLER DEALERS AND THEY SAY IT IS NORMAL. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER SEVERAL TIMES TO NO AVAIL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME FAILURE BUT THE DEALER COULD NEVER DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,279. UPDATED 5/17/13 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO 3 DIFFERENT DEALERS NONE OF WHICH WERE ABLE TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. UPDATED 06/3/2013 *JS
WHEN IT IS COLD AND ICY THE SLIDING DOORS ARE INOPERABLE, EITHER MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY. IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE YOU CANNOT GET IN, IF YOU ARE INSIDE YOU ARE STUCK THERE UNLESS YOU ARE AGILE ENOUGH TO CRAWL OVER THE FRONT SEATS. HOPEFULLY IN AN ACCIDENT THE DOORS WOULD BREAK LOOSE. MY DEALER WAS UNABLE TO SUGGEST ANY RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,390. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE REAR DRIVER SLIDING DOOR OPENS AND SHUTS WITH LOUD CLICKING NOISE, TRIES TO SHUT ON PASSENGERS AS THEY ENTER, MY CHILD RIDES IN THE SEAT AND THE DOOR DIDNT SHUT ALL THE WAY AS I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD NOT REALIZING THIS UNTIL I STOPPED AND NOTICED DOOR WAS NOT SHUT ALL THE WAY, HAD SMALL GAP IN THE DOOR WAY, NO ALARMS OR ANYTHING WENT OFF TELLING ME THE DOOR WAS STILL OPEN, THIS PUT MY CHILDS LIFE IN DANGER, HAD THE VEHICLE TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND THEY CANT FIND WHERE PROBLEM IS COMING FROM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY EQUIPPED WITH KUMHO SOLUS KH25 TIRES, SIZE 235/60/16 (N/A). THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE TPMS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, INDICATING THAT THE AIR PRESSURE FOR EACH OF THE FOUR TIRES WAS TOO LOW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TPMS LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE EVERY THREE DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE BUT THEY WOULD ADD NITROGEN TO ALL FOUR TIRES. A FEW DAYS AFTER HAVING THE NITROGEN ADDED TO THE TIRES, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS LATER CONTACTED BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SPEAK WITH ANYONE DIRECTLY. HEADLAMPS ARE EXTREAMLY HIGH OFF ROAD WHEN ON HIGH BEAM. CHRYSLER TELLS ME THERE IS NO FIX IT IS A SINGLE UNIT SYSTEM AND IN ORDER TO LOWER THE HIGH BEAMS THEY ALSO WILL LOWER LOW BEAMS. WHEN THEY ADJ HIGH BEAMS I LOSE MY LOW BEAMS AND THEY ARE SO LOW I HAVE NO NIGHT VISION ON LOW BEAM THEY STOP ABOUT 35 FEET IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND GO NO FARTHER DUE TO THEM BEING ADJUSTED EXTREAMLY LOW. I CAN NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT TIME. THE DEALER AGREES WITH ME THAT THE HEADLAMPS ARE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT AND THAT THEY HAVE HAD 5/6 NEW CARS OWNER COMPLAIN ABOUT THE HEADLAMPS BUT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. THEY ADVISED ME THE HEADLAMPS ARE HIGHT AND AT FIVE FEETS FROM THE VEHICAL THEY THEY TEST 12" HIGH SO AT 100 FEET THEY ARE IN THE TREES..... THE VEHICAL IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT I HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE TO TWO DEALERSHIPS FOR A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES AND THE HEADLAMPS ARE STILL UNSAFE AT THIS TIME. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND WAS ADVISED THAT A RODENT HAD EATEN THROUGH THE FUEL LINE AND THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY THEN STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED A SECOND TIME BECAUSE RODENTS HAD ONCE AGAIN EATEN THROUGH THE FUEL LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,800.
WHILE PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY, IGNOTION/ACCESSORY OFF, WITH THE 3RD ROW SEATS STOWED, AND THE SECOND ROW DOOR SWITCH DISABLED, MY WIFE AND I WERE ATTACHING AND ADJUSTING A CHILD SAFETY SEAT IN THE 2ND ROW RIGHT SIDE. OUR 2 YEAR OLD GRANDAUGHTER WAS PLAYING IN THE BACK, THE BACK DOOR WAS OPEN. I WENT IN THE HOUSE FOR A MOMENT, UPON RETURNING I LEARNED THAT OUR GRANDAUGHTER HAD GOTTEN PINNED BETWEEN A DEPLOYING LEFT SIDE THIRD ROW SEAT AND A SMALL COOLER WE HAD IN THE BACK OF THE VAN. MY WIFE HEARD HER SAY "HELP ME" AND WAS ABLE TO PULL HER OUT OF THE WAY. IF GRANDMA HAD NOT BEEN CLOSE ENOUGH TO EFFECT A RESCUE IT MAY HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THE SEAT JAMMED ITSELF AGAINST THE COOLER AND THE SECOND ROW SEAT. ONE LEG LOCKED INTO THE FLOOR THE OTHER WAS "PINNED" IN A FOLDED BACKWARD POSTION. THE SEAT WAS NOT SAFELY USABLE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED CHRYSLER, I WAS TOLD I WOULD HEAR BACK, I HAVE NOT. IT WAS A SATURDAY AND I REALLY NEEDED THE SEAT TO BE USABLE. I WENT TO THE DEALER, MY SALES REP WAS ABLE TO PULL THE "PINNED" LEG BACK INTO POSITION (IT TOOK SIGNIFICANT APPLICATION OF STRENGTH), FOLLOWING WHICH, THE SEAT OPERATED NORMALLY. SINCE THAT OCCURANCE THERE HAVE BEEN TWO OCCURRANCES OF ACCIDENTAL 3RD ROW SEAT DEPLOYMENT WHILE LOADING OR UNLOADING THE VAN. THE CONTROLS ARE EASY TO BUMP WITH ONES ELBOW. THE SEATS DEPLOY UNDER FAR TOO GREAT OF FORCE TO BE SAFE. THERE IS NO LOCKOUT FOR THE CONTROLS. THERE IS NO "CANCEL". THE CONTROLS ARE ACTIVE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK AND THE BACK DOOR IS OPEN. WHILE DEMONSTRATING THE PROBLEMS TO THE DEALER, THE RIGHT SIDE 3RD ROW SEAT DAMAGED ITSELF BEYOND SIMPLE REPAIR REQUIRING PARTS TO BE ORDERED. IT IS SCHEDULED FOR REPAIR. CHRYSLER MAINTAINS THAT THE SYSTEM IS SAFE. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WITH A PASSENGER SEATED IN THE SECOND ROW PASSENGER SEAT. THAT PASSENGER ACTIVATED THE LEVER WHICH WOULD FOLD DOWN THE SECOND ROW SEATING AND BECAME STUCK BETWEEN THE SEATS AS THEY WERE FOLDING. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND REMOVED THE PASSENGER THAT WAS STUCK BETWEEN THE SEATS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500. UPDATED 04/11/12*LJ

AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROD DISCONNECTED AND THE OTHER THREE WHEELS WERE POINTING FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE TECHNICIANS REPLACED THE TIE ROD. THEY ALSO ADVISED THAT A LUG NUT WAS NOT TIGHTENED CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. I TURN ON THE REAR DEFROSTER AND THE WINDOW BLOW UP AS WE WERE HEADING NORTH ON I-75.
