TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION PUMP WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CALLED LAURA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM AT 573-677-1300 (LOCATED AT 7 N SERVICE RD W, SULLIVAN, MO 63080) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 129,000.
TRANSMISSION MAKING WHINING NOISE
IWHEN I BOUGHT MY 2014 TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI VAN IT HAD 39111 MILES ON IT I BOUGHT AND EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH WILL NOT COVER MY ENGINE PROBLEM SINCE IT WAS COVERED AT THE TIME BY THE MANUFACTURER, WELL AS YOU CAN IMAGINE 4 MONTHS PAST THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY RAN OUT IT IS IN THE SHOP, WHICH IT NEEDS THE CAMSHAFT AND ROCKER ARMS REPLACED AND IT IS MISFIRING ON CYLINDER #6 I HAVE 94,000 MILES ON THE VAN SO THE 100,000 MILE PART THEY WILL NOT COVER FOR THEY SAY 60 MONTHS OR 100,000 MILES WHICH IS NOT RIGHT, I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CAMSHAFTS AND ROCKER ARMS GOING BAD AND BREAKING DOWN AS WELL AS MISFIRING CYLINDERS. WHEN WILL THERE BE A RECALL ON THESE PROBLEMS. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD LAST 100'S OF THOUSANDS OF MILES IF TAKEN CARE AS I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF MINE. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN CHRYSLER AND I HONESTLY DON'T THE JOB IS BEING DONE TO INVESTIGATE THESE PROBLEMS. MY VAN IS CURRENTLY IN A SHOP WAITING TO SEE IF THE MANUFACTURER WILL HONOR THE WARRANTY SINCE IT IS ONLY FOUR MONTHS PAST THE 60 MONTHS FROM WHEN THE VAN WAS FIRST PUT INTO SERVICE BY SOMEONE ELSE BEFORE ME I BOUGHT IT USED FROM COOKS AUTO AND I THOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD COVER ANY ENGINE PROBLEMS BUT I WAS WRONG THEY CLAIM THAT SINCE IT HAD A MANUFACTURER WARRANTY THEY HAD TO GIVE ME A DIFFERENT WARRANTY PLAN AND DID NOT EXPLAIN, I WAS TOLD I WAS COVERED BUMBER TO BUMBER UNTIL I HIT 99,111 PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND DO A RECALL ON THESE ENGINES. THANK YOU.
THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT ON THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS DEPLOYED WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT.
THE VEHICLE'S ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN ONE DAY UPON STARTING IN MY GARAGE. IT WAS STILL DRIVEBLE, BUT THERE WERE NO WORKING ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. I TOOK IT TO AN EXCELLENT INDEPENDENT SHOP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, AND SAID IT NEEDED TO GO TO A CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER. CHRYSLER DETERMINED THAT THE BLIND SPOT SENSORS HAD FAILED, WHICH IS A $2000 REPAIR. WE INQUIRED AS TO WHETHER THE SENSORS COULD BE BYPASSED AND WERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT. WE WERE THEN TOLD, BOTH BY THE ORIGINAL SHOP AND THE CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER, THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN, MOST LIKELY WITHIN THE NEXT 50K MILES, DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE SENSORS BEING UNDER THE BUMPER IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE REAR TIRES. IN THAT SPOT THEY TAKE THE BRUNT OF THE ELEMENTS KICKED UP BY THE TIRES, WHICH AFTER PROLONGED EXPOSURE CAUSES THEM TO FAIL. THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO BE CLEANED EFFECTIVELY BECAUSE THEY ARE LOCATED WITHIN A CAVITY THAT CANNOT BE REACHED. I THEN CALLED A BODY SHOP TO SEE WHETHER WE COULD ADD SOME SORT OF COVER TO THE CAVITY TO PREVENT THE DEBRIS FROM HITTING THE SENSORS, AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT POSSIBLE. THE BODY SHOP, THE ORIGINAL SHOP AND THE CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER ALL TOLD ME INDEPENDENTLY THAT THIS WAS A DESIGN FLAW AND A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE VEHICLE THAT EXISTED IN MODEL YEARS 2011-2016, AND WAS LATER CORRECTED WHEN CHRYSLER REDESIGNED THE TOWN AND COUNTRY INTO THE PACIFICA. WE LIVE ON A DIRT ROAD AND NOW HAVE A SIX YEAR OLD VEHICLE THAT IS A TICKING TIME BOMB FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE TO CONTINUE TO OCCUR FOR AS LONG AS WE OWN IT.
MY VEHICLE RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENED 15 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR CREATING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. BECAUSE IT WAS NOT THROWING ANY CODES, AND WOULD NOT REPLICATE OFTEN, IT WAS HARD TO DIAGNOSE UNTIL I DEVELOPED AN ISSUE WITH STARTING THE CAR, ALMOST A YEAR LATER. THE WIN MODULE WAS BAD. I NOW KNOW THAT EARLIER MODEL YEAR'S HAD A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. I FIND IT CURIOUS THAT THE BAD WIN MODULE WOULD OCCUR RANDOMLY FOR MY MODEL YEAR WITHOUT A COLLECTION OF OCCURANCES.
GOES DEAD WHEN COMING TO A STOP. ALSO HESITATES AFTER STOPPING, THEN ACCELERATING. DOES THIS ABOUT 2X/DAY. LOCAL DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. TOOK TO LOCAL TRANSMISSION MECHANIC, WHO HAS DETERMINED TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACING
I'VE LISTED A DATE BELOW I DON'T RECALL THE EXACT DATE, DON'T RECALL THE EXACT MILEAGE, OR THE EXACT SPEED EVERYTHING LISTED HEREIN IS APPROXIMATE, IF IT HAD HAPPENED ALL DAY EVERYDAY THEN I COULD'VE REMEMBERED, BUT THE FOLLOWING HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS BOTH IN WINTER AND IN SUMMER. 1. VEHICLE HAS STOPPED ON ME WHILE DRIVING MULTIPLE TIMES, DOESN'T OTHERWISE SEEM TO DRIVE ROUGH, IT HAS ALSO STALLED ON ME WHILE DRIVING AND I MAKE "Y" TURNS OR AM DRIVING AND STOP AT A STOP SIGN. I PUT THE VAN BACK IN PARK, AND IT WILL START BACK UP. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN WHILE THE CAR IS IN PARK. SOMETIMES THERE IS A BURNING SMELL THAT IS SIMILAR TO THE SMELL OF AN AIRPLANE. 2. TICKING NOISE WHEN I START AND CONTINUES WHILE I'M DRIVING AND INCREASES AS I ACCELERATE. 3. HEAT AND A/C WILL TURN ON, ON ITS OWN, TURNS ON THE REAR FIRST, AND THEN THE FRONT SEATS AFTER, I CAN TURN IT OFF AND IT WILL REPEAT THE PROCESS (I'VE ACTUALLY RECORDED IT HAPPENING). 4. LEFT PASSENGER DOOR CLOSES ON ITS OWN, WON'T STAY OPEN, CLICKING NOISE EVEN IF IT'S CLOSED. 5. INTERIOR LIGHTS AND RADIO WILL FLICKER AND GO DIM THEN BRIGHT (AS IF SWITCHING FROM NIGHT TO DAYTIME THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE TIME I'M DRIVING FREQUENTLY HAPPENS).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NAPLETON'S ARLINGTON HEIGHTS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1155 W DUNDEE RD, ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL 60004) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT AND TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
MY ENGINE HAS SPRUNG A MAJOR OIL LEAK UNDERNEATH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. I'VE SEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. IT APPEARS THAT CHRYSLER PUT A PLASTIC COOLANT TO OIL OIL COOLER UNDER THE MANIFOLD THAT IS FAILING. IN MY OPINION THE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD, COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, COULD CAUSE SUDDEN BREAKDOWNS. AS WIDE SPREAD OF A PROBLEM THIS IS I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THERES NOT A RECALL ON IT. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SEARCH TOWN COUNTRY OIL COOLER AND YOU'LL SEE. WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN WE NOTICED THE OIL BURNING SMELL. LIFTED THE HOOD AND THE OIL WAS ALREADY OVER 2 QUARTS LOW.
I WAS DRIVING A SOLID 40 SOME MPH AND HIT A DEER HEAD ON WITHOUT HITTING BRAKES SO DIRECT IMPACT. THE DEER WAS HUGE WEIGHING APPROX 300-325 LBS. WHY DIDN'T THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY
MY VAN STARTED EXPERIENCING TIMES WHEN IT WOULD NOT START. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE STARTER AND THEN AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF TRYING IT WOULD START. IT WAS NOT THE STARTER. THIS WENT ON FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND THEN I NOTICED THAT IF THE DOOR WAS OPEN IT WOULD START, THEN IF I JIGGLED THE WIRES IN THE DOOR IT WOULD START. AFTER A AWHILE THAT WOULDN'T MAKE IT START. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND THE KEY WAS LEFT IN THE IGNITION AND AS THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WAS GETTING READY TO PUT THE VEHICLE ON THE TRUCK HE SLAMMED THE DOOR AND IT STARTED!! WE THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE WIRING HARNESS IN THE DOOR SO WE REMOVED IT AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY WHILE IT WAS OUT. WE THEN REPLACED THE WIRING WITH OEM PARTS AND THEN THE PROBLEM STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. IT WAS INTERMITTENT AND WOULD ALWAYS START IF YOU SLAMMED THE DOOR UNTIL 2 DAYS AGO AND NOW IT WON'T START AT ALL. THE REPAIR SHOP SAYS IT IS THROWING 40 CODES AND THAT IT NEEDS A NEW TIPM JUST TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. IT COSTS WELL OVER $1000!!! AND IT MAY NOT FIX IT.I KNOW THAT CHRYSLER HAS HAD RECALLS FOR THE TIPM IN THE PAST AND QUITE OBVIOUSLY THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM!
THE CAR KEEPS CUTTING OFF IN MID DRIVING.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON OUR TOWN AND COUNTRY COMES ON FROM TIME FROM TO TIME, BUT SEEMS TO GO OFF AFTER DRIVING THE VAN FOR A WHILE. EVERY TIME WE HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP, THE LIGHT WILL BE ON BUT BY THE TIME WE GET TO THE DEALERSHIP 30 MILES AWAY THE LIGHT IS OFF. WITH THE LIGHT OFF THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT DIAGNOSE THAT PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE CASE THE AIR BAGS ARE EVER DEPLOYED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS.
THE BLIND SPOT INDICATORS FAILED AND SHORTED OUT DUE TO WATER INTRUSION. THE SENSORS ARE LOCATED IN THE REAR BUMPER WITH THE CONNECTOR/OPENING FACING THE REAR WHEELS WITH NO PROTECTION ALLOWING WATER AND SALT, ETC. TO PENETRATE THE SEAM ON THE SENSOR AS WELL AS THE CONNECTION TO THE HARNESS. IT CAUSED OUR BACK UP WARNING SYSTEM AND BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM TO STOP FUNCTIONING, AND SHORTED OUT THE SENSORS CAUSING THEM TO DRAIN THE BATTERY OVERNIGHT EVERY NIGHT (MAKING THE VEHICLE UNRELIABLE AND UNUSABLE), AND CAUSING THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY IN THE PROCESS. IT TOOK THREE SHOPS, $1,500 AND TWO MONTHS JUST TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM (AFTER REPLACING BOTH ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY). ONCE THE ROOT CAUSE WAS IDENTIFIED, THE DEALER OFFERED A REPAIR FOR A MERE $1,600 (REPLACING BOTH SENSORS, HARNESS AND MODULE) AND STATED THAT IT IS A COMMON ISSUE AND HAPPENS ON VIRTUALLY ALL OF THESE VEHICLES BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING PREVENTING WATER FROM ENTERING THESE SENSORS.
MIDDLE MEDIA CONTROL PANEL SHORTED AND CAUGHT FIRE. BURNED ALL THE WIRES BEHIND THAT PANEL. HAPPENED DURING DRIVING JUST AFTER STARTUP.*DT*DT*JB *DT*JB*JB*DT
ALTERNATOR FAILED PREMATURELY, BUT OUT OF WARRANTY. ALL OTHER MODELS IN THIS YEAR RANGE WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND ALTERNATOR WERE RECALLED, BUT THIS MODEL WAS EXCLUDED FROM THAT RECALL. HOWEVER, SAME ENGINE AND SAME ALTERNATOR. STILL FAILED PREMATURELY. RELATED RECALL 14V-634. CHRYSLER REFUSED "GOOD-WILL" REIMBURSEMENT SINCE MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
THE PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST EXPLODED (LUCKILY JUST AFTER WE GOT OUT OF THE CAR). THERE WAS NOT A ACCIDENT THAT TRIGGERED IT. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. UPON RESEARCHING I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!
FOR ABOUT A YEAR THE CAR HAS BEEN GIVING ME PROBLEMS WHILE ITS BEING DRIVEN. WHEN I COME TO A STOP IT SHAKES AND HAS CUT OFF ON ME. IT WOULD RESTART WITH NO PROBLEM. THEN IT STOPPED GIVING ME PROBLEMS FOR A LITTLE WHILE. THEN LAST THURSDAY, I GOT OFF AT AN EXIT FROM THE HIGHWAY AND WHEN I BRAKED BEHIND A CAR AT THE LIGHT, IT STOPPED A LITTLE ROUGH. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO MOVE UP A BIT AND THE CAR STARTED GOING BACKWARDS REAL SLOW WHILE IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN IT OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS AND RESTART AND IT TOOK ME TO MY DESTINATION. I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT WITH MY GRANDCHILDREN BUT NEED MY VEHICLE. IT AMAZES ME ABOUT THE COMPLAINTS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE PROBLEM. I PRAY THAT SOMETHING TRAGIC DOESN'T HAPPEN. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR CHECKED REPEATEDLY AND THEY CAN FIND NOTHING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON.
CAR HAD A ROUGH IDLE LOSS OF POWER AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 2 AND CRACKED LEFT CYLINDER.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED A FAILURE IN THE NUMBER TWO CYLINDER HEAD. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS MOTOR FOR THIS YEAR. EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME MOTOR THAT THEY HAVE USED IN 2011 2012 AND 2013 AND DURING THOSE YEARS THEY HAVE COVERED SUCH FAILURES. THIS PROBLEM IS EVIDENT BELOW 1000 RPM. YOU CAN FEEL THE CAR SHUDDER AND SHAKE AS A RESULT OF MISS FIRING IN CYLINDER TWO. I AM TOLD THAT IF IT IS NOT REPAIRED IT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE MY ENGINE TO FAIL COMPLETELY. THE CURRENT PRICE TAG IS APPROXIMATELY $3000.
THE VAN NEEDS A NEW BREAK BOOSTER AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DODGE WHOLESALE PARTS WAREHOUSE THAT NONE ARE AVAILABLE AND 128 ARE ON BACK ORDER WITH NO DATE ON WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. MY CAR IS UNSAFE AND THE BREAKS COULD GO OUT AT ANYTIME AND IT COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE THE PART IS AVAILABLE. IN THE MEAN TIME MYSELF AND OTHER DODGE, CHRYSLER CUSTOMERS ARE DRIVING UNSAFE CARS.
REAR VIEW CAMERA STOP WORKING
SLIDING DOORS HAVE DIFFICULTY OPENING AND CLOSING ON BOTH SIDES. PLASTIC COVERING BREAKS OFF EVERY TIME THE DOORS OPEN/CLOSE, LEAVING EXPOSED WIRES ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
MISFIRE CYLINDER #6. CODE 306 . WHILE IN IDLE. COIL AND SPARKS REPLACED MISFIRE CONTINUED. INJECTORS CHECKED, LEAK TEST DONE, AND COMPRESSION GOOD ON ALL CYLINDERS BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR SAME ISSUE ON 2011 THROUGH 2013 MODELS. BUT NOT 2014.
I WAS GETTING IN MY CAR IN THE GARAGE OF MY HOME WHEN MY ACTIVE HEADREST DEPLOYED. I WASN'T INJURED BUT I WAS CERTAINLY STARTLED AND NOW AM UNSURE WHAT TO DO. THE HEADREST CANNOT BE RESET; THERE ARE BROKEN PIECES WHICH HAVE FALLEN DOWN INSIDE THE PLASTIC CASING.
THE ACTIVE HEADREST ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT DEPLOYED STRIKING MY 14 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE HEAD WHILE DRIVING AND NO ACCIDENT OCCURRING. UPON INSPECTION, THE SYSTEM DID NOT DEPLOY DUE THE MECHANISM RELEASING THE PIN BUT RATHER THE PLASTIC THAT IS SUPPOSED HOLD THE PIN FAILED RESULTING IN DEPLOYMENT. THERE IS NO WAY TO RESET THE HEADREST BECAUSE IT IS BROKEN. I HAVE SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE DRIVER SIDE POTENTIALLY FAILING AND DEPLOYING IN A SIMILAR MANNER. THE DRIVER COULD BE STRUCK IN THE HEAD CAUSING INJURY OR ACCIDENT. REPLACING BOTH HEADRESTS WOULD BE A SIGNIFICANT COST.
PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR DOOR WILL OPEN AND CLOSE NORMALLY BUT WHEN IT GETS HOT OUTSIDE THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH WHEN IT CLOSES. DOOR SOUNDS LIKE IT IS CONSTANTLY TRYING TO LATCH SHUT. IT WILL CONTINUE TO DO THIS WHILE DRIVING AND RANDOMLY START AND STOP AGAIN.
INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY BULLETIN ID-14-03 AND SERVICE BULLETIN 09-002-14 SHOULD APPLY TO 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. CODE P0304 CAME UP DEALER CONFIRMED PISTON 4 ON LEFT SIDE IS DEFECTIVE. CHRYSLER IS REFUSING TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBLITY AND REFUSING TO FIX MY PROBLEM WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. CODE FIRST CAME UP IN SEPTEMBER 2019. THIS CAUSES VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF RANDOMLY.
SUSPENSION RATTLES, SHOCKS AND STRUTS RATTLE, HAVING TROUBLE STARDING ENGINE ON OFTEN, REMOTE START FAILS WITH NO INDICATION OF LOW BATTERY, ENGINE STALLS BEFORE STARTING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, AIRBAG LIGHT ON.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR FAILED TO GO IN MOTION. THE TRANSMISSION NO LONGER MOVED THE VEHICLE. WE WERE ON A STREET. IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY. TRANSMISSION FRONT PUMP AND TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED INCLUDING THE CLUTCH PACK.
IT WON'T SHIFT FROM 1ST GEAR INTO 2ND GEAR
SLIDING DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR IS POORLY DESIGNED. THE MOTOR IS CHEAPLY MADE AND HAS BURNT OUT TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SLIDING DOOR. WHEN THE MOTOR IN THE ACTUATOR BURNS OUT IT CAUSES THE DOOR TO SEIZE WITHOUT WARNING AND YOU CAN NO LONGER OPEN THE DOOR. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING WHEN WE NEEDED TO GET OUR YOUNG CHILD OUT OF THE VEHICLE IN A HURRY AND COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR. WE HAD TO HAVE A BODY SHOP MAKE THE REPAIR TO EVEN OPEN THE DOOR ON EACH OCCASION AS THE DOOR LOCK SEIZES AND YOU CANNOT UNLOCK IT MANUALLY OR OPERATE HANDLE. UPON DISCOVERY OF THE ISSUE WE LOOKED ONLINE ONLY TO DISCOVER FORUMNS OF MANY TOWN AND COUNTRY OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IN AN EMERGENCY OR COLLISION THE DOOR WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN AND THUS PASSENGERS BECOME STUCK INSIDE THE VEHICLE.
TWICE THIS YEAR, AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON DASHBOARD. IN JANUARY, THE PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW IN SEPT, THE AIRBAG INDICATOR CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME THE SEATBELT AND WIRING ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE REPAIRS TO THESE SAFETY FEATURES ARE COSTING >$1200 THIS YEAR. THE VEHICLE IS 5 YEARS OLD.
I LEFT A HOUSE AND TURNED ON TO THE MAIN ROAD. CAME TO A STOP LIGHT. IT TURNED GREEN AND I STARTED TO GO BUT COULD NOT GET OVER 20 MPH. THEN IT WENT OUT OF GEAR AND THE RPMS WENT UP TO 7000. THE VEHICLE ROLLED TO A STOP. SAT FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES THEN IT MOVED AGAIN BUT NOT FAR ABOUT 20 FEET. CALLED AND HAD A TOW TRUCK COME OUT AND TAKE IT TO A SHOP. WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. CALLED CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THEY HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS AND THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO A CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION AND SAID THE PUMP IS NOT WORKING ALONG WITH SOME OTHER PARTS THAT CAME OFF.. NOW IT GOING TO COST BETWEEN $3000 TO $4000 TO FIX THE VAN.
WHILE DRIVING THE VAN IT COMPLETLY DIES NO READINGS ON DADH AND THE STEERING QUITS AND THE BRAKES FAIL I ALMOST CRASHED INTTO A TREE AND A 2ND TIME I ALMOST CAUSED A 3 CAR PILE UP ON A HIGHWAY CHRYSLER CLAIMS THEY CANT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM MANY OTHER DRIVERS ARE HAVING THE SAME SAFETY PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING WITHFAMY MEMBERS AND THEYRE AFRAID OF DYING OR KILLING OTHERS
MY VAN STARTED MAKING A WHINING NOISE ON MY WAY TO WORK. ON THE WAY HOME I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL THE VAN WOULD NOT MOVE. IT EVENTUALLY JERKED OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO GET ACROSS THE LIGHT WITHOUT BEING INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT. THE VAN STARTED IDLING UP BUT WOULD NOT SPEED UP. THANK GOODNESS I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. I WAS SO GLAD MY BABIES WERE NOT IN THE VAN WITH ME. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT IN TRANSMISSION. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING MY TRANSMISSION WAS ABOUT TO GO OUT.
THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR TRIES TO OPEN AND CLOSE REPEATEDLY WITHOUT SUCCESS. THIS CAUSES THE EXTERNAL LIGHTS AND AND TURN ALL LIGHTS TO CONSTANTLY GO OFF AND THE VAN TO DING LIKE A DOOR IS OPENING. ONCE THIS STARTS, IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE CAR IS PARKED, DRIVING, ON, OR OFF.

THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO PRESTIGE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (6520 CENTENNIAL CENTER BLVD, LAS VEGAS, NV 89149, 702-625-7812) FOR AN UNRELATED MATTER. WHILE THERE, THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN A $200 ESTIMATE FOR REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.

CHRYSLER EXTENDED THE WARRANTIES ON 2011 THRU 2013, BUT THE 2014 HAS THE SAME EXACT ENGINE. WHY ISN'T IT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENED WARRANTY, I NEED ANOTHER CAMSHAFT.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (GOING AT LEAST 65 MPH) AND THE HEADRESTS ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT EXPLODED. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASH HAD BEEN GOING ON AND OFF FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS, I NOTIFIED CHRYSLER VIA TELEPHONE WITH NO RESPONSE. ABOUT 1.5 WEEKS LATER THE AIRBAG LIGHT RETURNED ON (INTERMITTENTLY) AND THEN I HEARD ANOTHER LOUD "POP" IN THE DRIVERS SEAT BUT NOTHING EXPLODED OPEN.
I HAD MY TRANSMISSION GO OUT WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF 65 MPH. I CAME ON HIGHWAY AND IT SOUNDED LIKE A HIGH PITCH WIND UP TOY AND THEN IT JUST WENT OUT. I WAS TOLD CHRYSLER DOES NOT ALLOW NEW TRANSMISSIONS TO GO INTO VEHICLE, THEY ONLY WILL ALLOW REBUILT OR REFURBISHED CHRYSLER TRANSMISSION TO BE SUBMITTED FOR WARRANTY REIMBURSEMENT (PER WHAT THE SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME AT DEALERSHIP). 1ST REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION ARRIVED WITH METAL SHAVINGS IN IT FROM THE START. 2ND TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN BUT HAD ISSUES IMMEDIATELY. CAR IS IN SHOP NOW 4 MONTHS LATER WITH METAL SHAVINGS IN IT AGAIN. I AM TRYING TO GET CHRYSLER TO PAY FOR THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS THAT ARE BEING PUT INTO THESE VEHICLES UNDER THE WARRANTY . THESE TRANSMISSIONS SHOULD NOT BE REPLACED WITH DEFECTIVE, USED, AND REFURBISHED TRANSMISSION. THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH NEW TRANSMISSION TO KEEP FAMILIES SAFE. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD WHEN TRANSMISSION GOES OUT WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND TO HAVE THESE IN VEHICLES THAT ARE BEING DRIVEN WITH FAMILIES ON HIGHWAYS AT HIGH SPEEDS.
2 YEARS AGO ON OUR WAY TO FL OUR FLY WHEEL CRACKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED DOWN IN FL. NOW A FEW WEEKS AGO THE FLY WHEEL IS MAKING THE SAME NOISE IT DID 2 YEARS AGO.
