A BOLT CAME LOOSE AT END OF CRANK SHAFT WHICH CAUSED A NOISE AND VIBRATION. THE SYNCHRONIZED BALANCER CRACKED. WE HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR ONE YEAR AND 50,000 MILES. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 DODGE AVENGER LAST APRIL, BRAND NEW. I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHTING ON THE DASH IS ALWAYS COMING ON, SO I AM CONSTANTLY TAKING IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY RUN THE DIAGNOSTICS AND THEY TELL ME NOTHING IS EVER WRONG. I HAD TO TAKE THE IT IN FOR A WARRANTY PROBLEM ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT. THEN THIS LAST TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS MAKING A FUNNY NOISE WITH THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY SAID I HAVE A LEAK IN MY TRANSMISSION AND OIL TANK, OF COURSE THE ONLY THING ON THE DASH LIGHTING THIS TIME SAYS "TIRE PROBLEM". IT IS SUCH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE, I RAN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF MAKING A TURN IN AN INTERSECTION AND MY GAS LIGHT WASN'T ON AND THE GAGE SHOWED I HAD QUARTER OF A TANK. THE CAR HAS CAUSED ME NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. THEN TO TOP IT OFF, I GOT IN MY CAR TO GO HOME FROM WORK AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE OUT OF GEAR AND I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR A YEAR, IF I WANTED PROBLEMS WITH A CAR I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. *TR
PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2008 AVENGER AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES FROM THE GET GO. CAN FEEL BRAKES SURGING THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD THAT BRAKES WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. REPLACED ALL BRAKES AND HAD ROTORS TURNED AND PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN RIGHT AWAY. AND NOW ALSO WHENEVER YOU BRAKE HARD THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. *TR
MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 56,000 MILES. I HAD TAKEN THE CAR IN AT 33773 MILES BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SHIFTING RIGHT. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAD TAKEN THE CAR IN 3 ITEMS SINCE PURCHASING IT DUE TO TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I DRIVE A LOT FOR MY JOB AND NEED A RELIABLE CAR. I NOW HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY WILL LET ME PAY ONLY $1380.00 BUT I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING SINCE I HAD THE CAR IN WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY COULD NOT FIND OR FIX THE PROBLEM. AVENGERS HAVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT NO ONE WANTS TO ADDRESS. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR POOR TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. WHILE PROCEEDING TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE GEAR SHIFTED INTO PARK WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A DEFECTIVE COMPONENT IN THE GEAR BOX. THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 52,390. THE VIN NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE.

MY GEARSHIFT SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. I HAD NO PREVIOUS PROBLEMS OR ANY INDICATIONS THAT IT WAS GOING TO BREAK AND LEAVE ME STRANDED AT MY HOUSE. I CONTACTED COFFEE CHRYSLER IN DOUGLAS GA AND SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. SHE INFORMED ME MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM LATELY. I TOLD HER I NOTICED THE COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT IT AND SUGGESTED THAT DODGE NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL. SHE INFORMED ME, THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY CONSUMERS NOT ENGAGING THE BRAKE WHILE ENGAGING THE GEAR SHIFT. YOU HAVE TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE IN ORDER TO ENGAGE THE GEAR SHIFT. IT COST ME $226.22 TO REPAIR. I WAS LUCKY THIS HAD HAPPENED AT MY HOUSE. I WOULD HAVE BEEN BEYOND FURIOUS IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ANYWHERE ELSE. I FEEL DODGE NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND PAY FOR IT. MY CAR IS A 2008. AN END OVER END ROLL OF 5 TO 8 ROLLS WHERE THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS HAPPENED IN A 2008 DODGE AVENGER ,WHICH HAS AN AIR BAG RECALL BUT I WAS TOLD MINE WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. IT IS PRETTY EVIDENT THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE PROBLEM SOMEWHERE THAT KEPT THE BAGS FROM DEPLOYING. I AM CONCERNED HOW MANY OTHER AVENGERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THAT RECALL AND WHY MINE WAS NOT OR WHY THE BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY. *TR

2008 DODGE AVENGER: SHIFTER ASSEMBLY PRONE TO BREAK. CHRYSLER IS AWARE, BUT HAS NOT RECALLED THE PART. WHEN THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY BREAKS, SHIFTING BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS KNOWN TO BE A FAULTY DESIGN AND THE USE OF A BRITTLE PLASTIC COMPONENT WITHIN THE ASSEMBLY. *TR

GOT UP THIS MORNING TO LEAVE FOR CHURCH AND THE SHIFTER FOR 2008 DODGE AVENGER WON'T COME OUT OF PARK. TRIED THE MANUAL OVERRIDE FOR THE INTERNAL INTERLOCK MECHANISM TO NO AVAIL. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH ONLINE I'VE FOUND THIS IS A RECURRENT PROBLEM IN THIS MODEL WITHIN 1-2 YEARS OWNERSHIP. CAR STARTS FINE, BRAKE LIGHTS ALL WORK, ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL WORKS. CAR JUST WILL NOT CHANGE GEARS FROM PARK. *TR
I HAVE AN 08 AVENGER, I HAVE HAD IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES OVER THE BRAKES. MY BRAKE LIGHT IS COMING ON AGAIN AND WHEN I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE, I'M NOW TOLD IT'S PAST THE 12 MONTH WARRANTY AND IT'S MY PROBLEM. I AM APPALLED THAT DODGE IS HIDING BEHIND THIS EXCUSE. HAD THEY FIXED IT RIGHT THE FIRST 4 TIMES IT WOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE NOW. *TR
I HAVE A DODGE AVENGER 2008 WHICH A COMPLETE LEMON. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO SEVERAL DODGE DEALERSHIPS (~15X) AFTER SPEAKING THE CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS AND ALL HAVE REFUSED TO FIX THE CAR STATING THAT THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM WITH IT. I CURRENTLY HAVE AN EXTENDED CONTRACT 7YRS/70K WARRANTY WHICH I PICKED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE AND IT IS STILL VALID, HOWEVER NO DODGE DEALER WILL SERVE MY CAR. EVENTUALLY I HAVE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND REPLACE AT LEAST ONE CATALYTIC CONVERTER BECAUSE, DODGE DEALERS WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM WHEN IT WAS AT THE 24K MILE MARK. SO, PLEASE TELL ME WHICH FEDERAL AGENCY HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO HOLDS THE INDEPENDENT CAR DEALERSHIPS AND CHRYSLER ACCOUNTABLE TO FIX PROBLEMS. YOUR RECALL NOTICES WORK ONLY 25% OF THE TIME. DO YOU ALL HAVE A SCORECARD OF ACTUAL VEHICLES BEING REPAIRED IN ACCORDANCE TO YOUR NOTICES BECAUSE THERE IS A BIG DISCONNECT WITH COMPANIES SUCH AS CHRYSLER. I HAVE SPENT ALMOST $4,000 IN NEEDED REPAIRS (TRAVEL FROM NY TO NJ DAILY FOR WORK) BECAUSE CHRYSLER'S INDEPENDENT COMPANIES REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND CHRYSLER HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE DEALERSHIPS. SO, WHICH FEDERAL AGENCY OFFICIATES CONTROL OVER UNRELIABLE CAR COMPANIES SUCH AS CHRYSLER. HOW MUCH COLLATERAL DAMAGES IS REQUIRED BEFORE CHRYSLER AND ITS MANAGEMENT (AND ENGINEERS) BECOME ACCOUNTABLE TO CONSUMERS AND THE FEDERAL REGULATORY STANDARDS. AS FOR ME, $4,000 IS A SMALL COST TO PAY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND LEAVE A CHILD AN ORPHAN BECAUSE THE FUEL TANK WAS DEFECTIVE AND CAUSED AT ACCIDENT. WHAT COST ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY? *TR
2008 DODGE AVENGER BALL JOINTS WORN OUT AT ONLY A LITTLE OVER 31000 MILES. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR REPAIR ON 07/01/09 BECAUSE I NOTICED THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE STEERING WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. ONCE IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE WAS A BALL JOINT PROBLEM WITH MY CAR, SOUTHERN CHRYSLER DODGE IN LUFKIN,TX 75901 TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PARTS FOR THE CAR.KNOWING HOW MUCH OF A SAFETY ISSUE DAMAGED BALL JOINTS ARE, I REQUESTED THAT THEY GIVE ME A BAIL CAR, JUST UNTIL MY PARTS CAME IN FOR MY CAR. THEY REFUSED, CLAIMING THAT THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY NO LONGER ALLOWS THEM TO DO SO. I HAVE TRIED TO AVOID FILING A COMPLAINT BY TALKING TO THE HEAD OWNER, HOWEVER, THE EMPLOYEES AT DODGE ARE DOING WHATEVER THEY CAN TO STALL, OR PREVENT ME FROM SEEING THE HEAD OWNER. ONE EMPLOYEE HAD SAID THAT THEY WOULD GET US A RENTAL CAR IF ONE WAS AVAILABLE BUT I HAD TO PAY THE 75 DOLLAR DEPOSIT WHICH WOULD BE REFUNDED. HOWEVER THAT DEALER KNOWS THAT FINDING A RENTAL CAR IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE SINCE THIS IS THE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND. ALL I WANT FROM THIS DODGE DEALERSHIP IS A LOANER CAR, THAT'S ALL. PLEASE TAKE ACTION, BEFORE I OR SOME OTHER NON SUSPECTING PERSON HAS AN ACCIDENT DUE TO WORN OUT BALL JOINTS. PS:THE PARTS TECH SAID THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, BUT I KNEW BETTER. I PURCHASED A USED 2008 DODGE AVENGER FROM ENTERPRISE CAR RENTAL LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. SINCE THEN I'VE REPLACED THE BRAKES TWICE, THE CAR STALLS OUT WHEN COMING TO A STOP, DELAYED RESPONSE ON ACCELERATION & NOW I CANT GET THE CAR OUT OF PARK. I WAS SHOCKED TO GOOGLE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER DODGE RECALL LINE AND WAS INFORMED UNTIL YOUR OFFICE INVESTIGATE THESE ISSUES MY CAR AND OTHERS LIKE ME WILL HAVE TO DISH OUT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OR DRIVE UNSAFE. I WAS EVEN MORE SHOCKED TO HEAR THIS STUPID PROCESS WHEN THE COMPANY IS AWARE THERE IS A BIG PROBLEM. THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY TO MAKE THESE BIG COMPANY'S TAKE RESPONSIBILITY BEFORE THERE IS A INCIDENT, CRASH OR INJURY. CHRYSLER HAS MADE ITS MONEY SO WHY MUST HARD WORKING US AMERICANS THAT SUPPORT AMERICAN MADE CARS HAVE TO GET HURT OR KILLED TO GET THIS MOVING WHEN THERE'S SO MANY COMPLAINTS? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY FOUR HOURS, BUT THE LIGHT WOULD RESET BACK TO NORMAL AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT ADDRESSED BY ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
RADIATOR LOSES COOLANT. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO OVER HEAT AND THE ENGINE TO BE REPLACED, A NEW RADIATOR AND IT STILL LOSES COOLANT 4 YEARS LATER. CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE THE COOLANT IS GOING AS IT IS NEVER UNDER THE CAR (LIKE A LEAK). *TR
I HAVE A 2008 DODGE AVENGER THAT BRAKES ARE BAD. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DODGE SEVERAL TIMES FOR SERVICE AND THE BRAKES ONLY LAST 2 MONTHS BEFORE THEY GO OUT AGAIN. FORTUNATE FOR ME I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS YET WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM GOING OUT. DODGE HAS REPLACED THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM AND STILL I HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT THEIR IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT THE SERVICE MANAGER, GM OF THE WALDORF DODGE AND CHRYSLER BUT NO ONE HAS RESOLVED THIS PROBLEM OR EVEN HAS GOTTEN BACK TO ME ON THIS ISSUE. I HAVE SEVERAL RECEIPTS FOR PARTS THAT WERE REPLACED ON THE CAR AND CAN PROVIDE THEM UPON REQUEST THE RECEIPTS HAVE THE PART NUMBERS ON THEM. *TR

THE CAR WHEN ON HIGHWAY TACHOMETER FLUCTUATES AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP ALMOST STALLS. ALSO TODAY AFTER THE DEFROSTER/AIR CONDITIONER WAS TURNED OFF WHEN I CAME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR ALMOST STALLED THEN PROCEEDED TO COUNTERACT THE STALL BY REVVING UP TO AT LEAST 2000 RPM'S CAUSING ME TO JUMP FORWARD INTO THE INTERSECTION. THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH MANY 2008 DODGE AVENGER SXT 2.7L. AS THE VEHICLE IS STOPPING IT STALLS, OR THE COMPUTER IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP A STALL INCREASES THE RPMS CAUSING THE CAR TO SPEED UP UNCONTROLLABLY. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED TO SLIP THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL SO THAT IT NO LONGER JUMPS FORWARD. I RECOMMEND A RECALL TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. *TR
ON OR ABOUT FEB. 17, 2009 AND CONTINUING TO PRESENT, MY 2008 AVENGER HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS SHIFTING. THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH HARD SHIFTING AND TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE. NOW, WHEN DRIVING AT 45MPH WHEN THE CAR GOES TO SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE, AND MISSES 4TH GEAR.
