I GOT IN MY CAR AFTER WORK AND NOTICED THAT MY HEADLIGHTS AUTOMATICALLY CAME ON, I DON'T HAVE THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. I TRIED TO TURN THEM OFF ON THE CONTROL SWITCH, NOTHING HAPPENED. I DIDN'T FIGURE OUT THAT MY TURN SIGNALS DIDN'T WORK TILL I HAD A LINE OF SEMI TRUCKS BEHIND ME AND I WAS NEEDING TO TURN INTO MY DRIVEWAY, I LIVE IN KY SO WE HAVE A LOT OF BIG TRUCKS ON THE ROAD HAULING COAL AND GRAVEL. I HAD TO PASS MY DRIVEWAY UP CAUSE I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO GET HIT IN THE REAR END ( WHICH I USUALLY HAVE A 5 YR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT) AND HAD TO GO FASTER TO GET WAY AHEAD OF THE TRUCKS SO I COULD GET PULLED OFF THE ROAD TO TURN TO GO BACK HOME. WHEN I GET HOME I KEEP TRYING TO GET THE HEADLIGHT OFF, SO I TRY ALL THE CONTROLS, THAT'S WHEN I FIND OUT I HAVE NO WIPERS EITHER. SO I HAVE NO HIGH BEAMS WITH MY HEADLIGHTS, NO TURN SIGNALS AND NO WIPERS, SO THEREFORE I CAN'T DRIVE THIS CAR TO WORK WHICH MAKES THE PAYMENTS ON THE CAR. CALLED THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME IT COULD BE OF 2 THINGS, EITHER THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING COLUMN, WHICH I DON'T SEE HOW BOTH COULD GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME SINCE ITS 2 DIFFERENT CONTROLS OR ITS EITHER MY TEMP WHICH COST $600 PLUS LABOR. I DON'T THINK I'LL BE BUYING ANOTHER DODGE PRODUCE, I'LL STICK WITH CHEVY OR GMC. THEY NEED TO DO A RECALL BEFORE THEY GET SOMEONE SERIOUSLY HURT BY GETTING REAR ENDED OR GET CAUGHT OUT IN A RAIN STORM! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND FLASHING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER ID NUMBER: 07V240000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SHE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE DEFECTS INVOLVING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM INCLUDING AN INOPERABLE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION, A SPORADIC LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, AND THE VEHICLE STALLING WHEN THE REMOTE KEY WAS USED TO OPEN THE DOORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN 08V152000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME DEFECTS AS LISTED IN BOTH RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. IT WAS STUCK. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER TOOK THE SHIFTER APART, A PINK PIECE OF PLASTIC FLEW OFF, THEN IT WORKED, SO NO TOW. I HAD TO WAIT TIL MONDAY TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER, AND WAS SURE K16 RECALL, FROM 6/2011 WAS THE PROBLEM. BUT WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A RECALL, OR COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. $292.33. I'VE SEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON-LINE FOR THE SAME THING. SOME WERE CONSIDERED A RECALL, MOST WERE NOT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 08V152000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
THERE IS A POPPING AND KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM FRONT END AND CAN BE HEARD AND FELT THROUGH STEERING. IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS GOING TO FALL APART. IM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY KIDS AROUND. FOUND MANY MANY POSTS WITH EXACT SAME PROBLEM FROM OWNERS OF 2008-2011 MODELS. IT SEEMS TO BE THE RACK AND PINION THAT IS DEFECTIVE! *TR
I WAS DRIVING AROUND A CURVE IN THE ROAD A LITTLE TOO FAST AND THE CAR SLID ON LOOSE GRAVEL. IT SPUN AROUND ONCE AND HIT A TELEPHONE BOX, SPUN AROUND A SECOND TIME AND SLAMMED AGAINST THE INSIDE OF A DITCH. IT CAUSED ENOUGH DAMAGE THAT THE DRIVERS FRONT TIRE TURNED ALL THE WAY OUT AND MY KNEES KNOCKED OUT THE DASHBOARD. THE AIR BAG DIDN'T DEPLOY CAUSING ME TO HIT MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVEN'T FELT OKAY SINCE THIS HAPPENED AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. I WAS IN A WRECK IN A HONDA ACCORD BEFORE THAT WASN'T HALF THIS BAD AND THE AIR BAG SAVED ME FROM BEING INJURED. IT DEFINITELY SHOULD'VE DEPLOYED IN THIS INCIDENT! *TR
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH USING CRUISE CONTROL, ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT BLINKS AND ENGINE LOSES POWER. HOWEVER, DIFFICULTY IN BREAKING AND BRINGING TO COMPLETE STOP DUE TO HIGH RPM IDLE. AFTER TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING ENGINE, LIGHT IS OFF AND ENGINE RUNS FINE. I STARTED THE CAR AND IT DROVE NORMALLY FOR 1/4 MILE. CAR THEN BEGAN BUCKING AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 20MPH. ELECTRIC THROTTLE LIGHT CAME ON. SHOP SAID THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. GOT IT REPLACED IN JUNE OF 2013. IN AUGUST OF 2014, MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. CAR DROVE NORMALLY. STOPPED AFTER AN HOUR TRIP. TWO HOURS LATER CAR WOULDN'T START. RECEIVED A JUMP, CAR STARTED BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 25 MPH. ELECTRIC THROTTLE LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND BATTERY LIGHT ARE ON. TO THE SHOP I GO AGAIN...ALMOST TWO MONTHS AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED... *TR
TURN SIGNALS, DOME LIGHT, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND RUNNING LIGHTS WOULD NOT OPERATE. STARTED WORKING AGAIN THE NEXT MORNING. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL NOT STOP WORKING DURING A RAIN STORM OR ON A DARK ROAD. SEEMS THIS WOULD WARRANT A SAFETY RECALL IMMEDIATELY. THIS COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! *TR
OWNED VEHICLE SINCE 2009. EVERYTIME IT RAINS THE CAR WILL STALL OUT WHEN DECELERATING FROM VARIOUS SPEEDS. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AS DRIVERS BEHIND YOU EXPECT YOU TO BEGIN TO ACCELERATE WHEN TRAFFIC LIGHTS TURN GREEN, BUT INSTEAD YOU MUST DROP THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL OR COAST IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO GET IT TO RESTART. I GOT INTO MY CAR TO LEAVE AND THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AND IT WAS JUST STUCK. MY DAUGHTER WENT ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS HAD BEEN A RECALL ISSUE AN I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY TYPE OF NOTIFICATION AT ALL. MY SON FOUND A WORK AROUND ON THE INTERNET THAT ALLOWED ME TO GET TO WORK, HOWEVER THIS IS A ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *TR

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
ONCE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON, IT IS DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN CONSISTENT SPEED. I ALSO HAVE NO CONTROL OVER MY TEMPERATURE GAUGES. AIRBAG LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON TOGETHER WITH THIS AS WELL. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED NUMEROUS TIMES TO START THE IGNITION HOWEVER, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V473000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
THE SHIFTER WAS STUCK IN PARK AND WOULDN'T BUDGE. *TR
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED FLASHING COULD NOT GO OVER APPROX 15-25 MPH. PULLED OVER SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND WORKED FINE FOR THE 5 MIN DRIVE I HAD TO COMPLETE AFTER IT HAPPENED. 9 HOURS LATER WHILE DRIVING THE THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WITH LOSS OF POWER INTERMITTENTLY THEN STAYED OFF FOR 5 MIN DRIVE I HAD TO COMPLETE. *TR

THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT MODULE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFTER HAD TO BE ENGAGED WITH ABNORMAL FORCE. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND REPLACED AN UNKNOWN PART, HOWEVER THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND MAKES THE CAR IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR ME FOR 10 MONTHS. I HAVE READ ABOUT MANY OTHERS HAVING THIS EXACT PROBLEM WITH NO LUCK OR HELP FROM DODGE. AFTER CLEANING AND REPLACING THE FEW AFFORDABLE THINGS, I STILL CAN NOT GO MORE THAN A FEW DAYS WITHOUT THE LIGHT COMING BACK ON. IT USUALLY SITS IN THE DRIVEWAY AT LEAST UNTIL I CAN AFFORD THE RECOMMENDED $1100 REPAIR THAT DODGE REFUSES TO FIX. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER DODGE. *TR

THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 10 MPH. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. UPON RESTARTING, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE CONTACT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ELECTRICAL THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE REVVED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AT THE SPEED OF 10 MPH. THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RESUMED DRIVING AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.

IN MY 2008 DODGE AVENGER THE ENGINE SOMETIMES ETHER STALLS OUT WHEN I PUT IT INTO PARK OR SOMETIMES THE ENGINE REVS UP REALLY HIGH AND THEN GOES BACK TO NORMAL. THIS ALL HAPPENS WHENEVER IT RAINS OUTSIDE. SOMETIMES WHEN I GO THREW A PUDDLE THE ENGINE LIKE BEGINS TO STUTTER ALMOST LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL OUT ON ME OR IT IS GOING TO REV UP. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP GAS TANK, PUMP DOESN'T SHUT OFF PROPERLY. HAPPENS AT EVERY PUMP. HAD GAS TANK REPLACED ONCE BECAUSE FUEL TANK ROLLOVER VALVE HAD MELTED SHUT. WORKED FOR ABOUT 1,000 MILES WITH NEW TANK, ONCE AGAIN SHOOTS OUT GAS AND DOES NOT SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH DODGE AVENGERS 2008, HOWEVER DODGE DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT. EPA WILL GO CRAZY IF THEY FIND OUT, ALONG WITH THE FACT THAT IT IS OUTRIGHT DANGEROUS TO HAVE FUEL COMING BACK OUT OF THE TANK ONTO THE GROUND. GREATER THAN HALF A GALLON COMES OUT EACH TIME. SLOWING PUMPING, BURPING, FUELING FAST, HOLDING NOZZLES AT DIFFERENT DEPTHS DOES NOTHING TO ALLEVIATE ISSUE. *TR
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AT A LOW SPEED WITH A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDICATED LOSS OF POWER TO THE THROTTLE BODY. COULD NOT LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEN HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AT HIGHER SPEEDS SOMETIMES WITH A LOSS OF POWER SOMETIMES NO LOSS OF POWER. THROTTLE BODY CLEANED, SENSORS REPLACED, STILL CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES. HAVE NOT HAD ANY DIAGNOSTIC CODES COME UP IN THE RECENT EVENTS. TODAY THE ETC LIGHT CAME ON AT 65MPH AND WENT OFF, THEN CONTINUED TO COME ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES OVER 15 MILES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO STOP TRIED TO PULL CODES AND THERE WERE NONE, THE SYSTEM CHECKED OUT WITH NO PROBLEMS INDICATED. THROUGH RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH DODGE ETC EVEN AFTER OWNERS HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. *TR

ON 3/11/13, I REPORTED TO DODGE CASE # [XXX] THAT WHEN DRIVING ON WET / DAMP ROADS THE CAR WILL STALL OUT FOR NO REASON. THIS HAS HAPPEND TO ME WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, SLOWING DOWN GOING THROUGH A TOLL OR EVEN WHILE TURNING IN AN INTERSECTION. I HAVE FELT IT TO START TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AT 65 AND HAVE HIT THE GAS TO STOP THE PROBLEM. I PHONED DODGE WHO TOLD ME ... SORRY THERE ARE NO RECALLS. I THEN PHONED MY LOCAL DODGE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME THAT YES THEY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM IN THE PAST, THE SUGGESTED IS A SENSOR ON THE THROTTLE OR THROTTLE BODY. THE COST FOR REPAIR IS AROUND $750. I HAPPENED TO SEE THERE WAS ANOTHER COMPLAINT ON YOUR SITE REGARDING THIS. BECAUSE I FEEL AS THOUGH THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS DANGER HAZARD, I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION # [XXX]WHO SUGGESTED I CONTACT YOU. I THINK THIS IS A VERY LARGE CONCERN AND SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. I WILL BE PAYING THE MONEY TO GET MY VEHICLE FIXED OUT OF CONCERN FOR MY OWN AND OTHERS SAFETY. I DRIVE THE INTERSTATE EVERYDAY TO WORK 65 - 75 MPH AND HAVE TO DRIVE EITHER IN THE RIGHT OR LEFT LANE IN CASE MY CAR STALLS. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP FOR THE SAME ISSUE OVER FOUR TIMES WITHIN THE PAST TWO YEARS. THE FIRST COMPLAINT ON 2/19/13. THE MALFUNCTION IS WITH THE VEHICLE HEATING SYSTEM. THE FIRST HEATER CORE WAS REPLACED ON 1/20/14, THE SECOND HEATER CORE ON 2/27/14, THE THIRD HEATER CORE ON 4/18/14, AND THE FOURTH ON 11/12/14. THE VEHICLE LOSES HEAT. THERE HAVE BEEN SPECIAL FILTERS INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE AS WELL, TRYING TO RESOLVE ANY ISSUE BEFORE IT REACHES THE HEATER CORE, THIS ATTEMPT HAS FAILED AS WELL. THE CURRENT ISSUE WITH NO HEAT INCLUDED ANTI-FREEZE DRIPPING ON MY FEET INSIDE THE VEHICLE, JUST ABOVE THE GAS PEDAL. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND COULD NOT GO OVER 30 MPH. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS FLASHING. I GOT OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. *TR A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, TRIED THE VEHICLE AND IT DID RUN FINE AGAIN. AFTER A COUPLE MORE DAYS, THE SPEED WAS NOT WHAT IT SHOULD BE. MOVED VERY SLOW AND THE RPM WENT HIGH BEFORE IT WOULD CHANGE GEARS. LOST POWER ESPECIALLY GOING UP HILL. HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY. COULD NOT GO OVER 30 MPH. BARELY MADE IT UP A HILL AND TO WORK. HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED AGAIN.
OIL PAN IS RUSTING FROM INSIDE OUT WAS TOLD THIS BY TWO DIFFERENT OIL TECH. CAN NOT FIND AFTER MARKET PAN ...DEALER ONLY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ALONG FREEWAY AT 55 MPH THROTTLE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND ENGINE WAS NON REACTIVE TO GAS PEDAL. AFTER A FEW MOMENT SYSTEMS WENT AWAY, BUT THE STARTING THE NEXT DAY AFTER THAT THE ENGINE WAS SLOW TO RESPOND TO SCCELERATOR AND WOULD HESITATE AND JUMP TO ACCELERATIONS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHOP WHERE THROTTLE BODY AND FUEL SYSTEM WAS CLEANED. IT WORKED FINE TILL APRIL 22, 2013 WHEN VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN THE THROTTLE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION AT ALL TO THE CAR. CAR TOWED TO GARAGE WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED TO DUE FAILURE. THE MILAGE WAS 130,153 AND COST OVER $800. *TR

THE DEALERSHIP JUST SAYS TOUGH LUCK MR.....THE DODGE COMPANY JUST PASSES YOU FROM PERSON TO PERSON UNTIL YOU EITHER GIVE UP OR HEAR SORRY NOT OUR PROBLEM.
