2008 DODGE CHARGER. ATTORNEY REPRESENTING CONSUMERS WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION SWITCH ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED IGNITION SWITCH ISSUES ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE DEALER REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. RECALL # 14V567000. *JB
I STARTED HAVING ISSUES STARTING MY CAR A FEW YEARS AGO (APPROXIMATELY 2), THE KEY WOULD TURN BUT IT WOULDN'T START UNLESS I MOVED THE KEY EITHER UP, DOWN, OR TO THE SIDES. DODGE FINALLY REPLACED THE PART ( I CAN'T THINK OF THE NAME BUT IT WAS ON BACK ORDER). I STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM LESS THAN 6 MONTHS LATER AND THE PART WAS REPLACED AGAIN. EARLIER THIS YEAR, APPROXIMATELY LATE JANUARY, I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH AND CALLED DODGE. THEY SAID THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THEY WEREN'T SURE WHEN THEY WOULD RECEIVE THE PART. SINCE THEN, I HAVE LOST THE LIGHTING ON MY DASH FOR THE HEADLIGHTS AND AIR-CONDITIONING/HEATING DIALS. THIS OCCURRED WHEN I STARTED MY CAR AND IT SUDDENLY TURNED OFF. I CALLED IN REGARDS TO FINALLY HAVING THE LIGHTING FIXED TODAY AND THAT PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM, IS THE IGNITION SWITCH, I HAVE TROUBLE STARTING THE CAR, SOME DAYS WORSE THAN OTHERS. I ALSO HAVE TO CHECK THE KEY BY TAPPING IT WHEN IT'S STARTED TO MAKE SURE IT'S IN THE "RUN" POSITION. A HANDFUL OF TIMES I'VE TAPPED IT AND THE KEY HAS TURNED BACK TO THE LEFT, KILLING THE CAR. THANKFULLY I'VE BEEN PARKED EVERY TIME. I'VE CALLED DODGE ABOUT THIS RECALL AND THEY STILL HAVE YET TO RECEIVE THE PART AND HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD A DEFINITE DATE AS TO WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE THE PART. THIS ISSUE IS NOT ONLY FRUSTRATING IT'S DANGEROUS FOR ME AND ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. I'M TIRED OF CALLING DODGE ONLY TO HEAR EVERY PART I NEED IS ON BACKORDER. I TRULY DON'T BELIEVE THE CAR I'M DRIVING IS SAFE ANYMORE REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE RECALL LETTER STATES. WHEN WE WENT TO CRANK THE CAR, WHICH CRANKED JUST FINE 2 HOURS EARLIER, IT WOULD NOT START. THE IGNITION WOULD TURN BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. ALSO ALL LIGHTS AND ELECTRONICS WOULD NOT CUT ON. AFTER DOING WEB RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE IGNITION ( WIN MODULE). I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO DODGE BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT START OR MOVE. THEY REPLACED THE WIN MODULE AND IT RUNS FINE. THEY TOLD ME I WOULD GET REIMBURSED THROUGH CHRYSLER BECAUSE IT IS A RECALL PART. I PAID 450.00 FOR THE REPAIR. NOW CHRYSLER CORP. IS TELLING ME I WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT RELEASED THE PART. AND BETTER YET WHEN I GET A 2ND NOTICE OF THE RECALL, I STILL HAVE TO HAVE IT FIXED. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO FIX THE CAR BECAUSE IT IS MY SON'S ONLY WAY OF GOING AND HE WORKS FULL TIME. IT SAYS ON THE RECALL WEBSITE THEY WILL REIMBURSE YOU SO WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET MY MONEY BACK? AIRBAG RECALL CONTACT MADE APPROXIMATELY SEPTEMBER 2015. DEALER SAID THEY WERE ORDERING PARTS AND WOULD CONTACT ME. THEY GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND EVERY TIME I CALL THEM.
