P60 - RECALL / NHTSA 14V-634 (ALTERNATOR) ON SUNDAY 01/11/14 AT 7:00PM AT NIGHT MY 2012 DODGE CHARGER WITH ONLY 39,000 PLUS MILES, (BASICALLY BRAND NEW) COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN IN SAN ANDREAS CALIFORNIA ON A BACK COUNTRY ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AT NIGHT, WITH MY FIANCE DRIVING AND OUR TWO MINOR CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AND THE CAR ACTUALLY PUT ITSELF INTO PARK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AT A STOP SIGN AND BUSY INTERSECTION. NO HAZARD LIGHTS WERE AVAILABLE OR WORKING AND THIS BECAME AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION.. CHP WAS DISPATCHED RIGHT AWAY. (EVIDENTLY BY A PASSING DRIVER WHO CALLED 911 EMERGENCY). CHP ARRIVED AT THE SITE, PARKED THEIR PATROL CAR BEHIND OUR CAR AND USED ITS HAZARD LIGHTS TO WARN ONCOMING DRIVERS OF THIS HAZARD. CHP IMMEDIATELY CALLED AAA, (FOR AN EMERGENCY HAZARD SITUATION), TO REMOVE OUR CAR OFF THE ROAD AND OUT OF TRAFFIC. CHP STATED OUR CAR, BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH NO HAZARD LIGHT CAPABILITY, WAS AN IMMEDIATE LIFE THREATENING DANGER TO MY FIANCE AND OUR TWO CHILDREN AND ALL OTHER PASSING MOTORISTS. AAA ARRIVED RIGHT AWAY AND TOWED OUR CAR APPROX. 40 FEET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IMMEDIATELY CHARGED US A $200 HAZARD VEHICLE TOWING FEE. AAA DISPATCHED ANOTHER TOW TRUCK AS THIS TOW TRUCK DRIVER WAS OFF DUTY AND HE ONLY RESPONDED DUE TO THE EMERGENCY OF THE SITUATION, (THE CALL BY THE CHP FOR A HAZARD VEHICLE).WE HAD NO ALTERNATIVE BUT TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO OUR RESIDENCE IN COLUMBIA CALIFORNIA. THE NEXT MORNING, MONDAY, 1/12/14, CENTURY SERVICE EXTENDED WARRANTY ADMINISTRATION REQUESTED THE CAR TOWED TO A FULL DODGE DEALERSHIP. I HAD THE CAR TOWED FROM COLUMBIA CALIFORNIA TO MODESTO CALIFORNIA DODGE CHRYSLER FOR $110. (THE CLOSEST FULL DODGE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP). THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE CAR. DRIVING 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, THE BATTERY ICON APPEARED ON THE DASH. AFTER CHECKING THE INFORMATION SYSTEM IT STATED "BATTERY SAVER MODE". IN ATTEMPT TO MAKE IT HOME, DRIVING AN ADDITIONAL 30 MINUTES- THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THE CAR STARTED TO MALFUNCTION. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLASHED OUT OF CONTROL, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON, THE CAR ACCELERATED WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL, AND THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED WHERE I WAS UNABLE TO STOP OR TURN THE VEHICLE. AFTER AN ESTIMATE OF 1 MINUTE OF ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED. THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND SHUT DOWN. WE WERE NOT ABLE TO RESTART IT OR PUT IT IN GEAR. WE HAD A TOW TRUCK CARRY THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, RAINBOW DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP OF COVINGTON, LA. AFTER SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION ONLINE, IT STATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY ALTERNATOR, WHICH IS A SAFETY RECALL FOR CHRYSLER AND THE PART IS UNAVAILABLE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY BEGAN TO FAIL THE ENTIRE BOARD AND HEATING ALONE IS LIT IT AND I COULD NOT LOWER THE WINDOWS AND POWER WAS SHUT DOWN AND THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND IT WAS NIGHT THE WHEEL WAS HARD AND CLEAN BREEZES SEIZED MY CAR MANOMETERS WENT CRAZY STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN AS I COULD UNTIL I STOP MY CAR AND REFUSED TO ENSENDER RISKED MY CHILDREN. *TR
WHILE PARKED AND WHILE DRIVING, THE ABS, ESC, AND BRAKE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMPS ILLUMINATE WITH A DOUBLE WARNING CHIME. AFTER 1 TO 2 MINUTES, THE INDICATORS TURN OFF. WHILE THE INDICATORS ARE ILLUMINATED, THE RESPECTIVE SYSTEMS ARE NOT ENABLED. THIS WAS TESTED IN WINTER WEATHER BY BRAKING ON SLIPPERY ROADS WITH NO ANTI-LOCK INTERVENTION, AND ACCELERATING AROUND A CORNER WITH NO TRACTION CONTROL OR STABILITY CONTROL INTERVENTION. THE ISSUE ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN IN OPERATION FOR MORE THAN 30 MIN, AND IS AGGRAVATED BY WET CONDITIONS, OR A CAR WASH WITH UNDERCARRIAGE SPRAY. I HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH MY WINDOWS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE PASSENGER WINDOW WOULD GO HALF WAY UP THEN GO BACK DOWN, BACK WINDOWS WOULDN'T WORK AT ALL. THEY HAD TO CHARGE THE BATTERY BECAUSE IT WAS LOW AND WOULD GO INTO BATTERY SAVING MODE AT RED LIGHTS. THEY REPLACED THE CAR RADIO BECAUSE IT WOULD CHANGE CHANNELS FOR NO REASON. THEY SAY IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ALTERNATOR BUT DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX IT. I HAVE CALLED THE RECALL ASSISTANCE LINE TWICE AND HAVE GOTTEN NO RESPONSE. THEY RESET THE LIGHT AND IS WAS FINE UNTIL APPROX. MARCH, THEN CAME ON A COUPLE TIMES. IN APPROXIMATELY IN APRIL I TOOK IT TO SPORT HYNDANI DODGE, THEY SAID IT WAS A DIRTY CONNECTION AND CHARGED ME 90.00. THAT LASTED APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH AND IT CAME BACK ON INTERMITTENTLY, NOW CONTINUALLY. TOOK IT TO SPORT TODAY SEPTEMBER 16, FOR A RECALL FOR THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THEY SAID IT WOULD NOT FIX THE LIGHT BEING ON, THEY SAID IT WAS A SENSOR AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE SEAT APART TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS.
