I HAVE A 2006 DODGE DURANGO THAT I PURCHASED IN MARCH, 2010. THE LAST 4 TIMES I HAVE FILLED MY VEHICLE UP WITH GAS, WHEN I STOP, A HUGE AMOUNT OF GAS COMES SHOOTING BACK OUT OF THE VEHICLE SOAKING ME, MY CLOTHES, MY VEHICLE AND POURING ONTO THE GROUND. THE LAST TIME I EVEN ATTEMPTED TO BEGIN PUTTING GAS INTO THE VEHILE, IT SHOT OUT ON ME, VEHICLE AND GROUND. IT DID THIS 3 TIMES WHILE I WAS TRYING TO PUT GAS IN MY VEHICLE. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY PERSONAL SAFETY. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS AT NO COST?

THE INTERMITTENT FAILURE PROGRESSED OVER TIME WHICH RESULTED IN A CONTINUOUS OCCURRENCE WHEN REFUELING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE FUEL PUMP SHUT OFF, BUT FUEL CONTINUED TO SPILL OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE INSPECTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO JUST TURNED 50,000 MILES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN EVERY TIME I FILL UP ON GAS THE GASOLINE SHOOTS BACK OUT AT ME. IT SOAKS ME, THE CAR, THE OUTSIDE OF MY CAR AND THE GROUND. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND A WASTE OF MONEY. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE AND THIS CAR IS NOT IN A RECALL. I UNDERSTAND 2005 MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY WORRISOME AND VERY SCARY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED AND JERK. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE ENGINE SOLENOID SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,789.
THE VEHICLE STARTED OUT BY SHIFTING ON ITS OWN WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE STOPPED. THEN IT BEGAN SHIFTING ON ITS OWN EVEN WHEN IT WAS TURNED OFF. IT WOULD SHIFT INTO 4 LO OR 4 HIGH TOTALLY ON ITS OWN WHEN STOPPED. THEN FROM THERE IT STARTED SHIFTING INTO 4 LO OR HIGH WHILE DRIVING AND IT WOULD SOUND LIKE SOMEBODY HAD HIT THE VEHICLE FROM BEHIND AND IT WOULD SHOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD AS THOUGH IT HAD BEEN HIT BUT ALL BECAUSE IT WAS SHIFTING ON ITS OWN. I TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT IT WOULD NOT REPEAT ITSELF WHILE HE HAD IT AND HE HAD NOT HEARD OF SUCH A THING BEFORE, SO I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT. SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT REVERSE WITHOUT GIVING IT A LOT OF GAS AND SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT TURN WHEN I NEEDED IT TO, PERHAPS BECAUSE IT WAS IN 4LO OR HI. AND OCCASIONALLY IT WOULD JUMP FORWARD WITH NO WARNING OR CONTROL MAKING SCREECHING SOUNDS FROM THE TIRES. THEN ONE DAY I WAS SITTING IN TRAFFIC AND IT SHIFTED ITSELF INTO 4 LO AND THRUSTED THE CAR FORWARD SEVERAL FEET AND LUCKILY I WAS FAR ENOUGH BACK FROM THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME THAT I DIDN'T HIT IT. HOWEVER AT THAT POINT IT WOULD BARELY DRIVE SO I SLOWLY GOT IT OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 4 LO THE ENTIRE DAY, SO I HAD TO EVENTUALLY HAVE IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. BY THE TIME IT GOT THERE IT DROVE FINE AGAIN AND HE COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. BUT WHILE PARKED IN HIS LOT, IT BEGAN TO CHANGE GEARS, ON ITS OWN, AND WHILE TURNED OFF. HE DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT OTHER OWNERS OF 2006 DODGE DURANGOS HAD REPORTED SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND HE CALLED TO LET US KNOW THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT THAT HE COULD NOT REPAIR IT AND TO FILE A REPORT ON IT AND THAT IT WAS EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HE SAID IT WAS SHIFTING ITSELF INTO OTHER GEARS WHETHER THE VEHICLE WAS OFF OR ON AND TO MAKE SURE THAT WE LEFT IT IN PARK AS IT COULD PUT ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL AND STILL ROLL EVEN WHILE OFF. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO HELP AT THIS TIME. THIS IS MY ONLY WAY TO WORK AT THIS TIME. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING FUELED, IT WOULD SPILL OUT OF THE TANK WHEN FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK AND FILLER NECK ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY). THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000.
2006 DODGE DURANGO GAS TANK OVERFILLS EVERY TIME. LOTS OF GAS SPILLS OUT. VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, I FILLED MY GAS TANK AND GAS CAME SHOOTING OUT OF THE TANK ONCE THE SHUTOFF VALVE CLICKED OFF. IT SPRAYED ALL OVER MY CLOTHES, DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND ONTO THE CONCRETE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A FAULTY GAS PUMP, BUT IT HAPPENED AT FOUR DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. I LEARNED LATER THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE FUEL ASSEMBLY AT MY OWN COST. I KNOW I DON'T FEEL SAFE FILLING UP MY GAS TANK KNOWING I MIGHT GET COVERED WITH GAS AND POSSIBLY BE NEAR AN IGNITION SOURCE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, FUEL WOULD BEGIN TO SPILL OUT FROM THE FUEL FILLER NECK. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED TO CAPACITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE YET THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,950. UPDATED 06/20/11
THE GAS TANK SPRAYS A LARGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE BACK OUT OF THE TANK EVERY TIME IT IS FILLED. THIS IS A FLAMMABLE AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. IT IS THE SAME SYMPTOM AS IN THE 2005 DODGE DURANGO RECALL, YET THE '06S ARE NOT INCLUDED. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, YET DODGE WILL NOT CORRECT THIS, AND IT IS A COSTLY REPAIR TO THE CONSUMER. *TT
WE PURCHASED A 2006 DODGE DURANGO 4X4. THE FIRST TIME WE FILLED THE GAS TANK IT NEVER CLICKED OFF AUTOMATICALLY. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME AND CAUSES GAS TO SPILL AND SPLASH EVERY WHERE. WE READ THIS A COMMON PROBLEM IN 2004 & 2005 AND HAS BEEN FIXED BY THE DEALER BUT WE CAN NOT GET A CALL BACK REGARDING OUT 2006 VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP MY 06 DURANGO IT ALWAYS OVERFLOWS WHEN TRYING TO FILL THE TANK. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AND AT DIFFERENT STATIONS. THE TANK WILL FILL UP AND THE PUMP WILL CUT OFF AND THEN THERE IS A BACK FLOW AND GAS POURS OUT ALL OVER THE CAR AND THE GROUND. *TR

2006 DURANGO FUEL TANK SPEWS GAS INSTEAD OF SHUTTING PUMP HANDLE OFF. THIS HAPPENS ANYTIME WE FILL VEHICLE. WE MUST MANUALLY TURN OFF PUMP BEFORE WE BELIEVE GAS TANK IS FULL TO KEEP FROM BEING COVERED WITH GAS. *TR
I HAVE A DODGE DURANGO 06, LATELY ALMOST EVERYTIME I'M FILLING UP GAS, THE GASOLINE OVERFLOWS FROM THE TANK AND SPILLS OUT. I SEE THAT DURANGO 05 HAD BEING RECALL ALREADY FOR THE EXACTLY SAME PROBLEM TO PREVENT POSSIBLE FIRE. I CHECK INTERNET AND THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FROM DURANGO OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE OF SPILL GASOLINE WHEN REFUELING. A CALLED DODGE AND THEY SAID THAT WITHOUT RECALL THE CANNOT DO ANYTHING. *TR
WHILE FUELING THE CAR AT THE GAS STATION, THE PUMP SHUTS OFF AND A SECOND OR TWO LATER, ABOUT A HALF A GALLON OF GAS SPRAYS OUT. THIS PROBLEM KEEPS GETTING WORSE. I'VE TRIED TO FILL IT UP ON THE LOWEST SETTING AND I'VE TRIED PULLING THE NOZZLE OUT OF THE TANK SOME SO THE (HARMFUL) VAPORS CAN ESCAPE. IT IS HAPPENING ABOUT 90% OF THE TIME AND THIS IS NOT A SAFE THING TO HAVE GAS COMING FLYING BACK OUT AND GETTING OVER THE GROUND, MYSELF AND OTHERS AROUND ME. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE FOUND THERE IS A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THE 2005 MODELS AND NOW THE 2006'S ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED. THIS PROBLEM IS WAY OUT OF CONTROL. I WILL BE POSTING MY YOUTUBE VIDEO ALONG WITH THE HUNDREDS OF OTHERS TO SHOW HOW UNSAFE THIS ISSUE IS AND HOW IT IS BEING HANDLED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND SAFETY ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED. HOPEFULLY THIS ISSUE GETS RESOLVED BEFORE A REAL INJURY IS REALIZED. *JS
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO FUEL HER VEHICLE, THE GASOLINE WOULD SPILL BACK OUT. THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO RECALL 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY: FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH CONCLUDED THAT THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER AGREED TO COVER 50% OF THE REPAIR COST; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
GAS OVER FLOWING AT THE FUEL PUMP WHEN FILLING UP. THE PUMP WOULDN'T AUTOMATICALLY STOP TILL AFTER IT WAS OVER FLOWING. GAS SPILLED ON THE PAINT AND HANDS, CLOTHS IF YOUR STANDING THERE AND ON THE GROUND CAUSE A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. TOOK TO DEALER SAID IT WAS THE GAS TANK. THEY REPLACED IT AND NO MORE PROBLEMS. I DON'T HAVE THE OLD GAS TANK.$750.00 FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
DODGE DURANGO 2006: FUEL FILLER NECK PROBLEM. WHEN FILLING THE CAR, FUEL CAN SPURT OUT OF THE FILLER NECK INCLUDING SPRAYING ON THE PERSON FILLING THE TANK. DODGE HAS THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM ON 2005 CARS AND ISSUED A RECALL TO REPLACE FILLER NECK AND GAS TANK, BUT NO SUCH RECALL ON OTHER YEAR CARS. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK ON OUR 2006 DODGE DURANGO, ONCE THE TANK IS FULL, GAS WILL SHOOT OUT OF THE TANK FOR A COUPLE SECONDS UNLESS THE PUMP IS MANUALLY STOPPED PRIOR TO FILLING THE TANK. THIS HAPPENS ON ALMOST EVERY FILL UP. *TR

WHEN FILLING UP MY 06 DURANGO IT ALWAYS OVERFLOWS WHEN TRYING TO FILL THE TANK. THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF ON THE GAS PUMP WILL SHUT OFF THEN SECONDS LATER GAS SHOOTS OUT THE FILL TUBE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND COULD CAUSE EXPLOSION AND HURT MANY, MANY PEOPLE. *TR
2006 DODGE DURANGO ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. MY DURANGO SHUT OFF TWICE IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS DURING TURNS. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT IS LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. IT SHUTS OFF AFTER STOPPING AT STOP SIGN AND THEN BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE. THE DODGE DEALER CAN NOT FIND A REASON FOR COMPLETE ENGINE STALL. THE DEALER HAS FLASHED THE PCM. THE ENGINE STALLED NEXT DAY AFTER FLASHING THE PCM. WHEN ENGINE STALLS THERE IS COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING. IN ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP THERE HAS BEEN FIVE ENGINE SHUT OFFS. IN EFFORT TO FIX DEALER CHARGED ME FOR COMPLETE FUEL SYSTEM CLEANING WHICH WAS NOT NEEDED. A THROTTLE BODY SERVICE WHICH WAS NOT NEEDED. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT ALSO BELONGED TO THE 2004/2005 DURANGO AND IS STILL PRESENT IN THE 2006 DURANGO. THE FLASH TO THE PCM DOES NOT WORK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE ADDING FUEL IT BEGAN TO SPILL OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER HE ADDED FUEL TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
THE FUEL SPITS OUT WHEN REFUELING. THE AUTO SHUT OFF DOES NOT STOP THE REFUELING UNTIL THE FUEL HAS ALREADY BEGUN TO SPIT OUT OF MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED WITH A 5.7 HEMI ENGINE. MY ISSUES IS WITH THE ESP (TRACTION CONTROL). THE ESP LIGHT IS COMING ON AND THE ESP IS ENGAGING WHEN MAKING TURNS (LEFT & RIGHT). IT ALSO FEELS EXTREMELY LOSE AT SPEEDS OVER 45 MPH. WHEN ON THE FREEWAY IT FEELS LIKE I AM DRIVING ON ICE AND IF I HIT A BUMP, IT KICKS THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT, SOMETIMES CLOSE TO GOING INTO THE ADJACENT LANE. WHEN I TRY TO CORRECT THIS ACT BY STEERING BACK INTO THE LANE, THE ESP IS ENGAGING. WHEN THE ESP ENGAGES IT CAUSE THE WHEEL ITS ENGAGING ON TO START BRAKING. IT IS VERY SCARY WHEN GOING 65-70 MPH, WITH LOSE STEERING AND ONE SIDE OF YOUR VEHICLE BEGINS TO BRAKE. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING WITH MY KIDS IN THE TRUCK. NOW THIS IS CONFUSING SINCE IT SAYS IN THE HANDBOOK THAT THE ESP IS ALWAYS ON AND TO TURN IT OFF YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE BUTTON ON THE CENTER CONSOLE WHICH INTURN WILL DISPLAY THE LIGHT ON THE DASH. I HAVE TO PUSH THE BUTTON AND HAVE IT TURNED OF AT ALL TIMES SO THAT THE VEHICLE DRIVES IN A MANAGEABLE WAY. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND NOTICED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE ESP ENGAGING ON TURNS FOR NO REASON. IT HAPPENS AT SPEEDS OF 5PMH, 20MPH AND ALL THE WAY UP TO 75MPH. I SENT THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY KEPT IT FOR A WEEK AND A HALF AND RETURNED IT SAYING THAT THEY COULDN'T FIX IT AND WERE NOT EXACTLY SURE WHY ITS DOING IT. I HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED AN ATTORNEY FOR THE BEHAVIOR OF THE MANAGEMENT AND THEIR UNWILLINGNESS TO CORRECT THE ISSUES EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A WARRANTY AND THEY SOLD THE VEHICLE TO ME LIKE THIS 3 MONTHS AGO. I WOULD APPRECIATE IF THIS ISSUE COULD BE LOOKED INTO, THANK YOU WORRIED DODGE OWNER. *TR
I OWN A 2006 DODGE DURANGO THAT I PURCHASED NEW. AFTER REACHING 60,000 MILES, THE FUEL SYSTEM BEGAN OVERFILLING AND SPILLING OUT ON THE GROUND. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS DEFECTIVE FUEL SYSTEM.
BEGINNING ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO SLT BEGAN SPEWING GASOLINE EVERYTIME I FILLED MY CAR AT THE GAS STATION. A LOCAL DODGE DEALER HAS INSPECTED AND CONFIRMED THE DEFECTED FUEL SYSTEM GASOLINE AND STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY IN MY DURANGO. DODGE WILL NOT COVER THE TOTAL COST OF THIS SAFETY REPAIR SINCE THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THE 2006 AND DODGE TOLD ME TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA. I AM URGING THE NHTSA TO RE-ELEVATE THE 300+ COMPLAINTS AND EXTEND THE RECALL TO THE 2006 DURANGO AND OTHERS. MY 2006 DURANGO FUEL SYSTEM DEFECT BEGAN IN JUNE 2010 WITH THE MOST RECENT HAZARDOUS INCIDENT OCCURRING IN DECEMBER 2010. THE SHUT OFF SEEMS TO HAVE DECLINED TO THE POINT THAT THE GAS NOW SPRAYS OUT OF THE TANK. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SAFETY MATTER. I BECAME COVERED IN GASOLINE AS THE GAS SPRAYED LIKE A HOSE OUT ONTO MY COAT AND HAIR. MY HAIR LATER TOUCHED MY EYE AND MY EYE WAS STINGING FROM WHERE THE GAS MUST HAVE TOUCHED MY CONTACT LENS. MY DAUGHTER WAS WITH ME AT THE TIME AND WE BOTH HAD TO SMELL THE POTENT FUMES FROM THE GAS ON MY CLOTHES. I HAD TO THROW MY FLEECE COAT IN THE TRASH. I AM FORTUNATE I DID NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH A SPARK OR IT WOULD HAVE CAUGHT MY CLOTHES ON FIRE. THE POTENTIAL HAZARD OF COLD WEATHER AND STATIC ELECTRICITY IS A REALITY WITH GASOLINE. I AM ALARMED THAT DODGE WOULD NOT SUBMIT A RECALL ON THE AFFECTED VEHICLES AFTER 2005. THIS IS A SAFETY MATTER THAT DODGE NEEDS TO ADDRESS. I CANNOT FILL MY DURANGO GAS TANK TO THE FULL MARK WITHOUT THE ERUPTION OF GAS COMING FROM THE TANK. IT STARTED OUT AS A SPILLAGE BUT NOW IT SPILLS AND SPRAYS OUT. 2006 DODGE DURANGO - EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE GAS TANK TO FULL, AFTER IT KICKS OFF, GAS SPEWS OUT OF THE TANK AND GOES ALL OVER THE PLACE. PURCHASED A USED 2006 DODGE DURANGO ON JUNE 9, 2010. MILEAGE WAS 50633. FOR THE PAST 3 MONTHS DURING EVERY FILL-UP, AT VARIOUS GAS STATIONS, FUEL PUMP NOZZLE WILL CLICK OFF WHEN TANK IS FULL AND THEN A FEW SECONDS LATER GASOLINE WILL FORCIBLY FLOW FROM THE TANK SPILLING ABOUT A QUART OF FUEL ON THE SIDE OF VEHICLE AND ON THE CEMENT. THE ONLY THING WE HAVE DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE IS TO PARTIALLY FILL THE GAS TANK. *TR
2006 DODGE DURANGO SPEWS GAS FROM FILLER TUBE WHENEVER WE FILL IT. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS A FLAP VALVE IN GAS TANK, AND SAID THE TANK SHOULD BE REPLACED (APPROX. $600). AT HER SUGGESTION WE REPORTED PROBLEM TO DODGE. THEY TALKED DIRECTLY TO SERVICE MANAGER AND AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR, MINUS A $100 DEDUCTIBLE. VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND WE HAD NO EXTENDED WARRANTY. DEALER SAID THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THEY HAD SEEN SEVERAL TIMES PREVIOUSLY, AND THAT DODGE HANDLES IT ON A CASE-BY-CASE BASIS. GIVEN THE NIGHTMARES REPORTED BY OTHER 2006 DURANGO OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, WE PAID THE $100 AND GOT A NEW TANK INSTALLED. THE NEW TANK (AND FLAP VALVE) RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. WE STILL BELIEVE THAT DODGE SHOULD HAVE COVERED THE ENTIRE REPAIR BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS AND THE SEVERITY OF THE SAFETY ISSUE, BUT A $100 LOSS IS BETTER THAN A $600 LOSS FOR OUR FAMILY. OVER THE WEEKEND I HEARD ON HEADLINE NEWS THAT THE 2008 DODGE CARAVANS ARE BEING RECALLED FOR MOISTURE GETTING INTO THE AIRBAGS. I CALLED AND EXPLAINED MY ISSUE WITH OUR 2006 DODGE DURANGO AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. INTERESTING TO NOTE IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP INQUIRES ABOUT THE MILEAGE ON YOUR VEHICLE.
