FUEL OVERFLOW SPILLS OUT OF GAS TANK WHEN THE TANK GETS FULL. SPILLAGE AMOUNT IS BETWEEN 1/4 AND 1/3 OF A GALLON EACH TINE THE TANK IS FILLED TO THE TOP. THE FUEL SPITS OUT OF THE FILL RECEPTACLE LIKE IT IS UNDER PRESSURE. *TR
MY 2006 DURANGO HAS THE COMMON FUEL OVER-FLOWING PROBLEM. UPON COMPLETION OF FILL UP IT OVERFLOWS A GOOD AMOUNT OF FUEL, OFTEN SOAKING GAS ATTENDANT, MYSELF AND TRUCK. GAS STATION ATTENDANT CLAIMS THAT THESE TRUCKS ALL OVERFLOW LIKE THAT AND THEY ARE A BIG PROBLEM. ITS GOING TO BE AN EVEN BIGGER PROBLEM ONCE ONE OF THESE IGNITES INTO FLAMES! *TR
I OWN A 2006 DODGE DURANGO WITH THE HEMI ENGINE, THE PROBLEM AND SAFETY ISSUE IS EVERY TIME I FILL THE CAR WITH FUEL AFTER THE PUMP CLICKS OFF THE FUEL BLOWS OUT ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND SPRAYS ON TO YOUR CLOTHES AND ON THE GROUND THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED DURING REFUELING, THE AUTOMATIC FUEL NOZZLE SHUTS OFF, AND THE FUEL WOULD SPRAY OUT OF THE FUEL TANK FILLER NECK ONTO HIS CLOTHING AND GROUND. THE SPILLAGE CONSISTED OF APPROXIMATELY ONE GALLON OF FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2005 MODEL RELATED TO THE SIMILAR DEFECT UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY: FILLER PIPE AND CAP); AND 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
2006 DODGE DURANGO AT ABOUT 75,000 MILES EVERY TIME I FILL UP WITH GAS, THE PUMP SHUTS OFF THEN GAS EXPLODES OUT OF THE FILL TUBE SOAKING ME AND EVERYTHING AROUND ME. DON'T KNOW THE DIAGNOSIS OR COST OF REPAIRS. FEEL THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. AM AWARE THAT 2005 DURANGOS WERE RECALLED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS TANK THERE IS AN OVERFLOW OF GAS THAT SPEWS OUT OF THE GAS TANK NECK AFTER THE TANK SHUTS OFF. APPROX. 1/2 GALLON OF GAS ENDS UP ON ME, SIDE OF CAR, AND GROUND. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES SINCE NOVEMBER 2009. IT HAS HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND I AM NOT TOPPING OFF THE TANK. I HAD THE CAR CHECKED AT A DEALER AND THEY SAID THE ENTIRE GAS TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. APPARENTLY THIS HAS HAPPENED TO 2005 DURANGOS AND THERE WAS A RECALL. *TR
WHEN REFUELING GAS SPEWED FROM THE FILLERTUBE AFTER THE PUMP STOPS PUMPING GAS. A LARGE PUDDLE OF GAS IS ON THE GROUND AND ALL OVER THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHENEVER WE TRY TO FILL GAS THE GAS COMES SPRAYING BACK OUT GOING ON THE GROUND, ON THE SIDE OF THE DURANGO AND ON US. WE HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS GAS STATIONS IN SEVERAL TOWNS, DIFFERENT PUMPS AT THOSE STATIONS AND DIFFERENT KINDS OF GAS. THE RESULT IS ALWAYS THE SAME. CURRENTLY WE TRY TO GUESS HOW MANY GALLONS WE CAN PUT IN AND TRY TO STOP THE PUMP IN TIME BUT THIS IS A HUGE INCONVENIENCE. I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW MANY GALLONS OF GAS WE HAVE PAID FOR THAT WENT EVERYWHERE BUT IN THE GAS TANK NOT TO MENTION ALL THE CAR WASHES WE'VE PAID FOR TO WASH THE GAS OFF THE PAINT. WE'VE EVEN HAD GAS STATION ATTENDANTS APPROACH US ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF GAS ON THE GROUND.
THIS ISSUE ALWAYS HAPPENS AFTER THE FUELING PROCESS HAS ENDED: AFTER THE GAS TANK IS FILLED AND THE NOZZLE HAS CLICKED OFF, GAS WILL SPEW FROM THE TANK. THIS IS NOT A DRIP; IT LITERALLY SHOOTS OUT OF THE FILL POINT ON THE CAR (LIKE THERE IS BACK PRESSURE IN THE TANK). THIS HAPPENS 95% OF THE TIME THE CAR IF FUELED AT A GAS STATION AND IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT GAS STATION WE ARE AT. WE HAVE FOUND THAT THIS SPEWING IS NOT AS SEVERE IF WE FILL THE TANK SLOWER TOWARD THE END OF THE FILL UP, BUT IT DOESN'T ALWAYS HELP. *TR
IT ALL STARTED WHEN I TOOK MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO IN TO CHANGE A FUSE. ( WAS UNDER WARRANTY). ABOUT 1 MONTH LATER THE FOLLOWING STARTED. HEADLIGHTS FLASH ON & OFF WHILE DRIVING DAY OR NIGHT, TURN SIGNAL WILL GO ON & OFF, DOME LIGHTS WILL GO ON& OFF, WIPERS WITH WASH WILL GO ON & OFF, & THE RADIO WILL CHANGE CHANNELS. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME DAY OR NIGHT NO MATTER THE TEMPS. LATELY SEEMS LIKE THE HEAT & COOL AIR DON'T BLOW FOR THE FLOOR. IT WAS AT THE SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES & NO ANSWERS. I DID CONTACT DODGE ITSELF & NOW THEY MAY HAVE A FIX FOR $500 FOR ME BUT NOT TOTALLY SURE THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
I OWN A 2006 DODGE DURANGO ADVENTURE AND EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP WITH FUEL A HALF TO A WHOLE GALLON OF FUEL COMES OUT OF THE FUEL NOZZLE. I HAVE BEEN TO AT LEAST 15 DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. I CALLED DODGE AND THE SAID THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS AND IS ONLY FOR 2005 DODGE DURANGOS'. I AND HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND IS EATING AWAY FINISH OF PAINT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THERE WAS CONCERN OF THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
MY WIFE HAS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO THAT EVERYTIME YOU FILL IT UP GAS SPITS OUT ALL OVER THE PLACE. I RESEARCHED ON-LINE AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2005 MODELS. I ALSO CONTACTED MY DEALER WITH NO HELP FROM THEM. IT SEEMS TO ME IF THEY ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM ON SEVERAL YEAR MODELS IT SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GET HURT. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 DODGE DURANGO, AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FUEL SPILLAGE FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE FAILURE OCCURS WHENEVER FUEL IS DISPENSED INTO THE FUEL TANK, FOLLOWED BY FUEL SPRAYING OUT OF THE TANK. 2006 DODGE DURANGO HAS HAD MULTIPLE ENGINE & ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITHIN 6 MONTH PERIOD. FIRST CAR LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, TOOK ALL STRENGTH TO GET CAR TO SHOULDER OF THE ROAD W/O POWER STEERING & LOCKED STEERING COLUMN. LOCAL MECHANIC SAID THAT COMPUTER WAS FRIED & COVERED UNDER EMISSIONS WARRANTY. TOWED TO DODGE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THERE WAS NOT A COMPUTER PROBLEM, JUST CAM SHAFT NEEDED REPLACING & RECALL ON INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER. AFTER $450 REPAIR FOR CAM SHAFT & TOW, A WEEK LATER CAR STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. APROX EVERY OTHER TIME I WOULD START CAR, THE RADIO & ELECTRICAL DISPLAY (CLOCK) ON RADIO WOULD NOT WORK--APPEARED TO NOT GET POWER. SIX WEEKS LATER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. BY THIS TIME, ORIGINAL DODGE DEALERSHIP HAD BEEN CLOSED, SO WENT TO ANOTHER DODGE DEALER FOR SERVICE. THEY FOUND ANOTHER WIRING PROBLEM WITH ENGINE. COULD NOT IDENTIFY PROBLEM WITH AUDIO/CLOCK. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER. THIS TIME LOCAL MECHANIC ADVISED IT WAS A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM. REPLACED FUEL PUMP, CHECKED FUSE & STILL COULD NOT IDENTIFY PROBLEM WITH AUDIO/DISPLAY. 9 DAYS LATER WENT TO START CAR IN THE AM, AND ELECTRICAL SEEMED TO SPUTTER (LIGHTS, INSTRUMENT PANE, WIPERS, RADIO) BUT CAR WOULD NOT START. STARTER DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ENGAGING THE ENGINE AT ALL. DIAGNOSED AS STARTED MOTOR PROBLEM, STARTER MOTOR REPLACED, BUT CAR STILL NOT FIXED. THEN TOLD BATTERY TERMINALS & CABLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CAR NOW STARTS, BUT AUDIO/DISPLAY ISSUE STILL UNRESOLVED. CONCERN THAT THERE IS A LARGER PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THIS VEHICLE, WHICH IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF ALL RECENT PROBLEMS. GETTING SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR ON INTERSTATE OR IN ANY LEVEL OF TRAFFIC FOR FEAR THAT IT WILL STALL OUT OR LOSE POWER DURING OPERATION AGAIN. THE CAR ONLY HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT. FIRST PROBLEM STARTED WITH 37,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. I HATE THIS CAR!!!!! *TR
I OWN A 2006 DODGE DURANGO 4 X 4 WITH 5.7 LITER ENGINE. OVER THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE GAS TANK GAS SHOOTS OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE AS THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. FOR SOME REASON IT DOESN'T TRIGGER THE AUTOMATIC GAS SHUTOFF OF THE FILLER NOZZLE AND ABOUT A PINT TO A QUART SHOOTS OUT - ON THE PERSON FILLING, THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ALL OVER THE CONCRETE. I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 2005 DURANGOS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM IN 2006 MODELS ON THE INTERNET AND I'M AFRAID THE PROBLEM CONTINUES ON THEM. *TR
2006 DODGE DURANGO FUEL DISCHARGES UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN RE-FUELING, ATTRIBUTED TO CHECK VALVE (DEFECTIVE) - POSSIBLY ATTRIBUTED TO ETHANOL CONTENT IN THE FUEL THAT HAS DEGREGATED THE CHECK VALVE? UPON FILLING UP MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO VIN#[XXX] AT THE GAS STATION GAS SPRAYS OUT OF THE INLET FOLLOWING PUMP SHUT-OFF. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO CHRYSLER TO FIX AND EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A WIDELY KNOW PROBLEM FROM MY RESEARCH THEY DO NOT COVER IT OUTSIDE OF HAVING A TECHNICAL BULLETIN TO AID IN THE REPAIR. I HAVE BEEN SPRAYED ON MY PERSON SEVERAL TIMES WITH GASOLINE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND ON OCCASION HAVE TO INFORM THE ATTENDANTS OF THE SPILL DUE TO THE VOLUME OF GASOLINE. I SEE THIS AS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED ON THIS YEAR AND THE OTHERS THAT IT EFFECTS AS IT IS AN OBVIOUS AND DANGEROUS DESIGN ISSUE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT REPAIRS WERE NEEDED TO THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE NOT REPAIRED. OUR 2006 DODGE DURANGO 4X4 SLT IS IN THE SERVICE DEPT FOR THE 2ND TIME IN TWO WEEKS FOR A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I AM TOLD THE "TRANSMISSION SOLENOID" AND "TRANSMISSION FILTERS" NEED TO BE REPLACED. TWO WEEKS AGO, A "TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH" NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN BOTH INSTANCES, THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE WHEN THE DURANGO'S "TRANSMISSION CHECK LIGHT" CAME ON. SHORTLY LATER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE AS THOUGH IT WAS LOSING POWER. IN BOTH SITUATIONS, THE DURANGO EXITED THE FREEWAY BUT BEGAN TO JOLT FORWARD AND BACKWARD. IN BOTH CASES, MY WIFE (2ND SITUATION) AND I (1ST SITUATION) BARELY MADE IT HOME AND TO THE SERVICE DEALERSHIP. THERE IS A CLEAR SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE... AND IT LOOKS TO BE MANY MORE MAY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE (SAFETY BULLETIN #0803006; ITEM #10021239). THESE SITUATIONS COULD HAVE HAD SERIOUS SAFETY RESULTS DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE ISSUE. PLEASE RESPOND WITH DETAILED INFORMATION REGARDING THE REFERENCED SAFETY BULLETINS AND ITEMS #'S. THE PARTS ARE ON BACK-ORDER FOR 1+ WEEKS AND WE DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THIS VEHICLE GOING FORWARD... EVEN WHEN/IF IT IS "REPAIRED". I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT CHRYSLER IF THEY WOULD DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO NY, FL, MYRTLE BEACH, OR THE TN MOUNTAINS AFTER IT IS REPAIRED... IT WAS NOT RECOMMENDED. SAFETY RECALLS SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR DURANGO TRANSMISSIONS. *TR

HAVE HAD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACED, AFTER HAVING RECALL FOR INTERIOR LIGHTING PERFORMED THE AUTO FEATURE OF POWER DOOR UNLOCK CEASED TO WORK. THAT WAS ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. NOW THE AUTO UNLOCK AND LOCK FEATURE HAVE BOTH QUIT WORKING ONCE AGAIN. WILL NOT REPROGRAM WITH PROCEDURE IN OWNERS MANUAL. FEEL THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL NEED REPLACING AGAIN. I DO HAVE EXTENDED FACTORY WARRANTY TO 70K MILES, BUT AM CONCERNED IF THIS KEEPS HAPPENING, WHAT ACTION DO I TAKE? *TR
HAVE BEGUN EXPERIENCING OVERFILLING OF FUEL TANK DURING PUMPING AT FUEL STATIONS. PROBLEM OCCURS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS AND IS NOT FUEL-PROVIDER SPECIFIC. THE RESULTING GAS SPILL IS SIGNIFICANT AND AFFECTS THE INDIVIDUAL PUMPING THE FUEL AS WELL AS SPILLING ON THE VEHICLE TO A DEGREE THAT FUEL FUMES ARE PRESENT IN THE INTERIOR OF THE CLOSED VEHICLE. CONTACTED LOCAL DODGE DEALER, AS WELL AS, DODGE CORPORATE AND BOTH HAVE REFUSED TO PURSUE MATTER DESPITE A RECALL OF THE 2005 MODEL YEAR (WITH THE SAME BODY STYLE) FOR THE SAME DEFECT. *TR
PURCHASED A USED 2006 DODGE DURANGO WITH 21,000 MILES ON IT IN 2008. LAST YEAR 2009 WITH APPROX. 30,000 MILES THE GAS WOULD START SHOOTING OUT OF THE FUEL NECK WHEN I WOULD FILL UP. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I FILL THE TANK UP. IT GETS ON THE CAR, MY CLOTHES AND THE GROUND. NOW I CAN ONLY FILL THE TANK UP PART WAY OR GET SOAKED WITH GAS. FUEL FILL-UP WORKED FLAWLESSLY UNTIL ~45K. EVERY FILL-UP AFTER THAT (NOW AT 58K), ALLOWS GAS TO SPILL OUT ON THE GROUND. THE GAS PUMP CLICKS OFF, AND THEN 1 TO 2 CUPS OF GASOLINE GUSH OUT OF THE FILLER NECK.
