WHEN FUELING, IF ALLOWED TO FILL UP, AT THE POINT OF FULL/PUMP CUT OFF, GASOLINE WILL SPRAY OUT OF THE FILL TUBE AROUND THE NOZZLE AND CREATE A LARGE PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. THIS WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST, BUT HAS SINCE BECOME AN EVERY TIME OCCURRENCE. NOT ONLY AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD, THIS POSES SERIOUS RISKS TO THE PASSENGERS (ESP. CHILDREN)
ALTERNATOR GROUND BURNED. MELTED TERMINAL/NUT TO THE NUB, BURNED THROUGH THE CABLE AND CONNECTOR, PLASTIC SHIELDING OF OTHER HARNESS SHIELDING MELTED. SIGNIFICANT HEAT/ PROBABLE FIRE PRESENT. *TR
DURING REFUELING, WHEN THE FUEL NOZZLE STOPS, THERE IS AN OVERFLOW OF FUEL SPRAYING OUT OF THE FUEL TANK NECK. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR YOUR AGENCY TO HAVE AN INVESTIGATION? FOR AN INDIVIDUAL TO BURN WHILE PUMPING GAS DUE TO A SPARK OR EVEN WORSE, TO DIE? THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME CAR ON THE PREVIOUS YEAR, WHY IS THERE NO RECALL FOR THE 2006 MODEL SINCE IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT DROVE THROUGH A YIELD SIGN. SHE WAS UNAWARE IF HER VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT SNAPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AFTER THE CRASH. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. PRIOR TO THE CRASH, THE STARTER AND IGNITION WERE REPLACED IN THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 38,000.
FUELING PROBLEM. AT THE END OF FUELING, EXCESS FUEL GUSHES OUT ONTO PERSON AND GROUND. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS FUELED. THIS CREATES A FIRE OR EXPLOSION HAZARD. DEALER STATES THAT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 1:30 PM TODAY, I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO WHEN BOTH SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING STRUCK. WE WERE IN TRAFFIC, MOVING AT A RATE OF ABOUT 25 MPH AND HAD JUST COMPLETED A LEFT TURN. THERE WAS NO EXTERIOR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE DURANGO WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THERE WERE TWO PASSENGERS AND A DRIVER IN THE SUV AT THE TIME OF THE DEPLOYMENT. *TR
AT THE END OF FILLING THE GAS TANK, FREQUENTLY WHEN PUMPS SHUT OFF, GASOLINE IS EJECTED FROM THE GAS TANK FILLER OPENING. THIS OCCURS AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS INDICATING THAT IT IS NOT SPECIFIC TO A PUMP OR STATION. *TR

ON MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO, THE STUDS AND BOLTS HOLDING THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TOGETHER FAILED. THIS REQUIRED THE REPLACEMENT OF TWO GASKETS, FOUR DOUBLE ENDED STUDS AND TWO BOLTS AS WELL AS TWENTY RETAINERS. THIS VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY OFF ROAD DRIVING AND THE STUDS AND BOLTS FAILED DURING NORMAL EVERYDAY WEAR AND TEAR, WHICH SEEMS VERY UNUSUAL FOR A VEHICLE LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD. IS THERE A POSSIBILITY THAT INFERIOR MATERIALS WERE USED IN THESE STUDS AND BOLTS LEADING TO THE FAILURE? *TR
STARTING ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AGO, WHENEVER GAS TANK IS FILLED, GAS GUSHES BACK OUT OF THE VEHICLE, EVEN AFTER THE PUMPING STOPS. WE'VE HAD THIS HAPPEN NUMEROUS TIMES AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. THIS CAUSES WASTE AND A SAFETY HAZARD, AS IT USUALLY SPILLS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND SPEWS ONTO WHOEVER FILLED THE TANK. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 35K MILES ON IT. *TR
GASKET AROUND WINDSHIELD IS DETERIORATING, PRODUCING BUZZING SOUND AT 40 MPH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED FUEL WOULD SPILL OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER NECK WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED TO CAPACITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL CHECK VALVE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH PROCEEDING TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY. SUDDENLY, THERE WAS COMPLETE LOSS OF THE POWERING STEERING WITHOUT WARNING. SHE HAD TO STEER IN A STRAIGHT DIRECTION BECAUSE WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, AFTER A PERIOD OF TWENTY SECONDS THE VEHICLE RESUMED TO NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,300.
WHEN GAS TANK GETS FULL,GAS SPILLS OUT OF THE TANK ALL OVDR CAR AND PERSON STANDING THERE. YOU HAVE TO FILL TANK VERY SLOWLY. CAR IS RUSTING BELOW GAS CAP FROM ALL THE GAS THAT HAS SPILLED THERE. *TR
1ST TIME TURNED TRUCK OFF GOT OUT KEYS IN HAND SHUT DOOR HEARD SHIFTING FROM UNDERTRUCK,.TRUCK WAS EMPTY AND NO KEYS.. 2ND.ON HWY GOING 65 CAME TO EXIT.SLOWED DOWN TO 35 SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LITE CAME ON THEN WENT TO TURN A RIGHT HAND TURN AND TRUCK SHIFTED INTO FOUR LOW. HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE TOWING MY TRAILER..BEEN DOING THIS EVERYDAY NOW SHIFTS INTO 4 LO EASILY NOW AND STAYS FOELONGER4 PERIODS OF VTIME. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO, THE GASOLINE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF WHEN THE TANK IS FULL BUT THE VEHICLE STILL "SPITS" OUT ROUGHLY A HALF GALLON OF GASOLINE ALL OVER THE GROUND, VEHICLE AND THE PERSON FILLING THE TANK. I HAVE TRIED MANY GAS STATIONS TO BE SURE THAT IT IS NOT THE PUMP AND HAVE VERIFIED THAT IT IS THE VEHICLE. IN MY RESEARCH AND DISCUSSIONS WITH DODGE DEALERS, IT SEEMS THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 2005 MODELS FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE, BUT THEY FAIL TO ISSUE ONE FOR THE 2006 MODEL. I CALLED DAIMLERCHRYSLER AND THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE MECHANIC SAYS THAT IT WILL COST ROUGHLY $800 TO HAVE THE FUEL TANK REPLACED AND GET THE PROBLEM FIXED. I FIND THIS UNREASONABLE AS THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. AS A FIREFIGHTER, I HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH FUEL SPILLS AND THE DEFINITE POTENTIAL FOR A LARGE FIRE AS A RESULT OF A SMALL FUEL SPILL SUCH AS THIS. IN ADDITION TO THE DANGER OF FIRE THERE IS ALSO A POTENTIAL FOR ASPIRATION OF GASOLINE LIQUID OR FUMES AS A RESULT OF THE GASOLINE SPEWING OUT AT THE PERSON FILLING THE TANK. THIS COULD CAUSE POTENTIAL DEATH IF IT OCCURRED. I PERSONALLY HAVE HAD THE GASOLINE SPEW OUT AND GOT A DROP IN MY EYE, REQUIRING ME TO RUN TO THE BATHROOM AND FLUSH MY EYE OUT. THE SPILLS HAVE ALSO RUINED ARTICLES OF MY CLOTHING AND WILL EVENTUALLY RUIN THE PAINT ON MY VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN FILLING VEHICLE WITH FUEL AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS, AS THE GAS TANK APPROACHES FULL AND THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF, A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL SPRAYS OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE. IT HAS SPRAYED ME TWICE AND TODAY SPRAYED THE GAS PUMP UNIT AS IT IS UNDER PRESSURE WHEN IT OVERFILLS. *TR
EVERY THIRD OR FORTH FILL UP GAS WILL COME SPURTING OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER. COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
FUEL TANK OVERFLOWS DURING FILL UP.I JUST RECEIVE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE ON 2/01/2013. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW ON MARCH OF 2006. I DON'T KNOW WHEN THIS PROBLEM STARTS BUT NOTICE THE PROBLEM AND BLAME THE GAS STATION FOR THEIR PUMP NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED ME A LOT OF PROBLEM BECAUSE OF GASOLINE SHOOTING OUT OF A TANK TO SPILL ALL OVER ME (LOSS OF CLOTHES,SHOES AND RASH ON MY ARM, HAND,FOOT AND LEGS).NOW MY CAR WHERE THE FUEL TANKS IS LOCATED CAUSED THE PAINT TO RUST ($600 TO FIX) AND MY BUMPER TO DISCOLORED AND BECAUSE I ROTATE MY TIRES MOST OF MY LOG NUTS($200) HAS TO BE REPLACED.I CANNOT QUANTIFY HOW MUCH GASOLINE I LOSS DURING THAT PERIOD.I HAVE CALLED THEM REGARDING COMPENSATION FOR THIS MATTER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH THEY DID BUT NOT COMPENSATE ME. *TR
GAS SPEWS OUT OF THE GAS TANK FILLER HOLE BEFORE TOPPING OFF. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY GAS STATION. THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF ON THE GAS PUMPS DO NOT DETECT THAT THE TANK IS NEARING FULL. MANUALLY FILLING VERY SLOWLY STILL CAUSES GAS TO GUSH BACK OUT OF THE FILLER HOLE. SERVICE AT DODGE DEALERSHIP SAID IT MIGHT BE THE TANK BREATHER, BUT THE DID NOT REPAIR.*TR
WHEN FUELING 2006 DODGE DURANGO, LIKE ONE QUART OF FUEL ERUPTS OUT OF FUEL TANK FILLER WHEN TANK FILLS COMPLETELY THIS HAPPENS TO ME EVERY TIME. *TR
WHEN REFUELING FUEL SHOOTS OUT OF GAS TANK. MECHANISM DOESN'T SHUT OFF WHEN FULL. I CONSIDER THIS VERY DANGEROUS. IT ORIGINALLY OCCURRED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AFTER THE MFGR WARRANTY EXPIRED AND NO RECALL WAS MADE WITH THIS YEAR MODEL. VERY FRUSTRATING AS WELL. OCCURS WHILE SITTING STILL NEXT TO GAS PUMP, ENGINE OFF.
ON FEBRUARY 16, 2009 I WAS FILLING THE FUEL TANK ON MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO. I HAD THE DISPENSER HANDLE DEPRESSED, BY HAND, TO FILL THE TANK; THE FUEL NOZZLE DID NOT HAVE A CATCH TO KEEP THE HANDLE DEPRESSED. THE AUTOMATIC FUEL CUTOFF ON THE DISPENSER FUNCTIONED AND STOPPED THE FLOW OF FUEL ONCE THE TANK WAS FULL. WITHIN A SECOND OR TWO FUEL CAME GUSHING OUT OF THE TANK, SPILLING ONTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND. LUCKILY I WAS STANDING OFF TO THE SIDE AND NOT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE FUEL TANK FILLER NECK, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN SOAKED IN GASOLINE. I WOULD ESTIMATE 1/4 TO 1/2 OF A GALLON OF GAS CAME OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE DISPENSER, BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AT MANY DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS SINCE. IN AN EFFORT TO PREVENT THIS, I SLOW DOWN THE RATE OF FUEL FLOW TO WHERE BARELY ANY FUEL IS BEING DISPENSED, WHEN I BELIEVE THE TANK IS NEAR FULL. SOMETIMES I AM ABLE TO STOP THE FLOW IN TIME AND THERE IS NO SPILLAGE. OTHER TIMES THE FUEL GUSHES OUT OF THE TANK SPILLING ONTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND AS IT HAS DONE BEFORE. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I SEE THERE ARE MANY OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS OCCURRING FOR 2006 DODGE DURANGO'S AND OTHER YEAR MODELS OF THE DURANGO. I FOUND A RECALL FOR A LIMITED NUMBER OF 2005 DODGE DURANGO'S FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE, BUT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL OF THE 2006 DURANGO TO DATE. THERE ARE MANY OTHER REPORTED INCIDENTS OF THIS OCCURRING: WHILE THIS HAS NOT CAUSE A FIRE OR SERIOUS DAMAGE TO DATE, HAD THERE BEEN A SPARK OR STATIC ELECTRICITY AT THE TIME THIS OCCURRED, THIS WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY ENDANGERED NOT ONLY MYSELF, BUT MY FAMILY AND EVERY ONE ELSE AT THE FILLING STATION.
FUEL TANK OVERFLOW I HAVE A 2006 DODGE DURANGO THAT I ABSOLUTELY "LOVE" EXCEPT THE FACT THAT THE PAST 2 MONTHS HAS DEVELOPED A PROBLEM. EVERY TIME I FILL UP WITH GAS (EVEN AT DIFFERENT STATIONS), MY GAS TANK OVER FILLS AND GAS IS "GUSHING" OUT AND A GOOD AMOUNT IS LOST. MY CONCERN IS NOT SO MUCH THE EXPENSE IN WASTE OF EXTRA GAS I NEED TO PAY FOR. BUT, I HAVE GAS DRIPPING DOWN THE SIDE OF MY TRUCK AND IN BETWEEN MY BUMPER FASCIA. AND, THIS ALSO CAUSES A GREAT SCENT OF GASOLINE THAT ALSO SOMEHOW GETS INTO THE VEHICLE, AND LINGERS FOR QUITE A BIT OF TIME AFTERWARDS. I HATE THE SMELL OF GAS. I NOW FILL UP WHEN I DO NOT HAVE MY3 KIDS IN THE TRUCK DUE TO THE SMELL AND GAS FUMES ARE KNOWN TO CAUSE CANCER. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVER A RECALL ID# 58886 WHICH SEEMS TO DESCRIBE THE SAME EXACT SITUATION I AM HAVING. UNFORTUNATE FOR ME, THIS RECALL WAS FOR 2005 DODGE DURANGO'S AND NOT 2006. I HAVE ALSO BEEN ON THE PHONE WITH DODGE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM MANY TIMES THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM KEEP TELLING THEM SAME PROBLEM AS THE O5. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS SITUATION INVESTIGATED. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST A RECALL FOR 2006 DODGE DURANGO'S BE CONSIDERED AS WELL. IT DOES MAKE ME FEEL A LITTLE BETTER KNOWING I AM NOT ALONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS STILL A CONSISTENT PROBLEM THAT REALLY, FOR SAFETY REASON MUST BE RESOLVED. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE ARE MANY INCONSIDERATE PEOPLE THAT I HAVE COME ACROSS AT GAS STATIONS THAT TAKE PLEASURE IN DISCARDING THEIR LIT CIGARETTES ONTO THE GROUND. AND, I WILL BE VERY UPSET (IF I WAS TO LIVE) IF THAT IGNITED LIGHT CAME IN CONTACT WITH GAS THAT HAS SPILLED OUT OF MY VEHICLE. I GREATLY THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ MY CONCERN. EVERYTIME I COMPLETELY FILL UP THE FUEL TANK ON MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO, I GET GAS SPRAYED ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAS STARTED OCCURRING IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS, AND IT WILL OCCUR EVERYTIME UNLESS I FILL IT AT THE SLOWEST PUMP SPEED, AND THEN SOMETIMES IT STILL OCCURS. *TR
STARTING ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO, EVERYTIME WE FILLUP THE TANK IT OVERFLOWS AT THE END OF THE PROCESS. THE OVERFLOW SPEWS GASOLINE ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND ON THE PAVEMENT CREATING A SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. IN SOME CASES, EITHER MY WIFE OR I RECEIVED SPLASH IMPACT ON OUR HANDS AND CLOTHES. *TR
WHEN FUELING MY VEHICLE, THE FUEL OVERFLOWS AT THE END OF THE FILL-UP SPITTING APPROXIMATELY 1 PINT OF GAS EACH TIME. THE CONDITION OCCURS WHEN THE TANK IS SHOWN AS EMPTY OR PARTIALLY EMPTY (I.E. 1/2 TANK). IN ADDITION, THE ISSUE OCCURS WHETHER I MANUALLY HOLD THE GAS PUMP LEVER OR PLACE THE PUMP LEVER ON ITS AUTOMATIC LATCH. THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME CONSISTENT OVER THE PAST 2-3 MONTHS WHILE IT ONLY OCCURRED A FEW TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. I JUST TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REVIEW AND THEY HAVE INDICATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, 3/19, AND ON 3/22 THE FUEL SPITTING OCCURRED DURING FILL-UP ONCE AGAIN. *TR
MY POLICE DEPARTMENT'S 2006 DODGE DURANGO HAS HAD 5 CAM SENSORS FAIL (ONE SENSOR TWICE, THE OTHER 3 TIMES). IT HAPPENS EVERY FEW THOUSAND MILES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR RUNS ROUGH. EACH TIME THE PATROL VEHICLE IS TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE. THIS TIME I'M TOLD THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER WITH SAYS TO ME THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. *TR

DRIVE TO ANY GAS STATION, WITH GAS GAUGE ON ANYWHERE FROM EMPTY TO A QUARTER FULL. INSERT GAS PUMP NOZZLE INTO VEHICLE WITH NORMAL CARE. START TO PUMP GAS. ACTIVATE THE "NO HANDS" LEVER. WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY STOPS. A FEW SECONDS LATER, A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GAS BURPS BACK OUT OF THE VEHICLE. ENOUGH FUEL IS SPILLED TO WASH ALL DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND SPLASH ONTO THE OPERATOR. AN IGNITION SOURCE WOULD CAUSE QUITE A FIRE. THIS SPILL HAS HAPPENED REGULARLY FOR A FEW YEARS AND THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT IT IS TO INTENTIONALLY STOP THE PUMP BEFORE THE TANK IS FULL.
