WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR A RECALL I WAS INFORMED THAT THE RIGHT MANIFOLD STUDS WERE BROKEN AND THE REPAIR WAS GOING TO COST $765.00. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO MY REGULAR MECHANIC TO DETERMINE IF I WAS BEING INFORMED CORRECTLY. HE ADVISED THAT THE CHRYSLER DEALER SHIP DID NOT REMOVE THE HEAT SHIELD TO VERIFY THAT THIS WAS ACTUALLY THE ISSUE. THE MECHANIC MENTIONED HE COULD DETERMINE THIS BY LOOKING AT THE FASTENERS OF THE HEAT SHIELD. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS HAPPENS A LOT TO CHRYSLER PRODUCTS. HE SAID THAT IS WHY THEY DID NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE HEAT SHIELD. WHEN THE STUDS ARE BROKEN IT ALLOW THE EXHAUST SYSTEM TO LEAK. MY QUESTION IS IF THIS IS A REGULAR PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL. I CALLED CHRYSLER TO SEE WHAT THEY WOULD DO ABOUT PAYING FOR A REPAIR FOR A CONSTANT ISSUE. THEY SAID THERE HAS NOT BEEN MANY PROBLEMS OF THIS NATURE. CAN THIS BE INVESTIGATED BY HAVING CHRYSLER MAIL OUT S SURVEY TO ACTUALLY DETERMINE IF THIS IS A MATERIAL DEFECT IN THEIR STUDS?
MY VEHICLE KICKS IN AND OUT OF 4WD WHETHER IT IS PARKED OR BEING DROVE. THE VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. I KNOW WHEN YOU LOOK UP THE ISSUES THAT I AM HAVING ONLINE, THEY ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. DODGE SHOULD HAVE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, IT IS SHOULD OBVIOUSLY BE A RECALL PROBLEM, THERE CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS.

THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHICH CRASHED AND ROLLED OVER. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, HIP, BACK AND SHOULDER, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE NO DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS WERE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
I AM THE SOLE OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE PURCHASED IN 2006. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED ANY CRASHES MINOR OR MAJOR. INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR CONDITION WOULD BE CONSIDERED EXCELLENT, EXCEPT WHAT IS NOTED BELOW. BROKEN LATCH PLATE PLASTIC COVERS TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND MIDDLE SEATS. THE BELTS FOR THESE SEATS WILL SLIDE AT WILL, MOVE FREELY AND NOT PREVENT THE OCCUPANT FROM GOING UP OR FORWARD IN A VEHICLE CRASH. BOTTOM-LINE, MY MUTLI-PASSENGER VEHICLE IS ONLY SAFE FOR THE DRIVER TO OCCUPY. I HAVE MULTIPLE PICTURES OF THESE BELTS IF REQUESTED.

WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER TRAIN ERRONEOUSLY SWITCHED TO THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LOW POSITION AND THE TRACTION CONTROL AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE SENSOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. WHILE STUCK IN THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE POSITION, THE VEHICLE BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY. WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL WOULD SPEW OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD SOUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHERE THE MOTOR WAS LOCATED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL SEIZED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MAINLY WHEN THE DOOR LOCKS WERE ACTIVATED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT AXLE DETACHED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS WHO WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000.

I WENT TO FUEL UP MY CAR, WHEN IT REACHED FULL, FUEL STARTED SPITTING OUT OF THE TANK. IT HAS DONE THIS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY FRONT END REPLACED 3 TIMES AND MY TRUCK IS STILL NOT WORKING RIGHT, NEED TO HAVE CONTROL ARMS REPLACED.
GASOLINE OVERFLOWS FROM FILLER NECK WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK. A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE OVERFLOWS AFTER GASOLINE PUMP SHUTS OFF.
NO CRANK TO MY ENGINE, SECURITY SYSTEM JUST LOCKED THE CAR UP. BEEN TOLD TO DRIVE THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO FIX IT. IT CANT BE DONE WITH THE DEALER BECAUSE I REFUSE TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER REVIEWING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE I AM QUITE FRUSTRATED WITH THE FACT THAT I KNOW IT IS MORE THAN LIKELY SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY TRANSPONDER. I HAVE NEVER REALLY HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR, OTHER THAN NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ISSUES. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I SEE ALL TOO COMMON ACROSS THE INTERNET AND YET DODGE IS NOT ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS NOR TRYING TO FIX IT FOR THE CONSUMER. EVERY TIME I GET GAS THE PUMP CLICKS OFF AS FULL, THEN A BUNCH OF GAS COMES GUSHING OUT AND GETS ALL OVER THE CAR/GROUND/ME. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND IT IS NOT ONLY A FIRE HAZARD, BUT ALSO AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. *TR

RECALL WAS ISSUED ON AIRBAG ON JANUARY 27, 2015. DEALER SAID PARTS NOT AVAILABLE BUT SHOULD BE AVAILABLE BY THE END OF FEBRUARY 2015. CHECKED WITH THE DODGE CORP. ON FEBRUARY 24, 2015 AND PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAULTY AIRBAG NEEDS REPLACING IN A MORE TIMELY MATTER. IT HAS BEEN NEARLY A MONTH SINCE THE RECALL AND THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. *JS
I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING TO WATCH AS I FILL MY TANK ON THIS CAR, BECAUSE THEIR IS NO WAY OF KNOWING WHEN THE GAS WILL SPILL OUT ONTO MY CAR. THE CONSTANT OVERFLOW HAS EFFECTED THE PAINT NEAR THE GAS TANK AS WELL AS RUN UNDER THE BODY OF THIS CAR. THIS IS AN ISSUE WHICH NO ONE WANTS TO ADDRESS BUT I HOPE SOON IT WILL BE RESOLVED. IT IS A HAZARD TO THE OWNER AND THOSE WHO ARE NEAR US WHEN WE ATTEMPT TO FILL OUR CAR. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAD A FUEL OVERFLOW PROBLEM. CHRYSLER HAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON FIXING THIS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE GAS THAT WAS CONTINUOUSLY OVERFLOWING ON FILL-UP HAS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO RUST UNDER THE GAS TANK. CHRYSLER IS SAYING THIS IS NOT COVERED. ALSO ON THE LIFT GATE UNDER THE SILVER PIECE ABOVE THE HANDLE THERE IS RUST FORMING FROM DRIPPING ON EACH SIDE OF THIS SILVER PIECE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT, BUT CHRYSLER IS SAYING NONE OF THIS IS COVERED. *TR

THE VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING AT 60 MPH WHEN RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE THROTTLE REMAINED WIDE OPEN WHEN RELEASED. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF TO BE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE THROTTLE STARTED TO RELEASE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED WHEN THE SWITCH WAS IN THE ON POSITION AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED WHEN THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES ONLY WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS FORTY DEGREES OR LESS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

AS I WAS REFUELING I NOTICED IN THE PUMP THAT IT WAS AT 29 GALLONS BUT IT WAS STILL FILLING UP AND MY TANK WASN'T EMPTY SO RIGHT AWAY I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND LOOKED ON THE BOTTOM THAT IT WAS SPILLING ALL THE GAS I'M THINKING FROM THE INSIDE OF THE FILLER NECK OR HOSE BUT FROM UNDER THE CAR SO SOMETHING IS WRONG BECAUSE IT DIDN'T STOP FILLING UP, THX *TR
THE VEHICLE OPERATED FOR 60 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY PRIOR TO THE COLLISION. ROAD CONDITIONS WERE SNOW PACKED, AND THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE WAS -1 DEGREE FAHRENHEIT. THE VEHICLE WAS PREPARING TO STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THE DRIVER WAS IN THE ACT OF BRAKING AND SLOWED TO ABOUT 1-2 MPH. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN ACCELERATING WITHOUT CONTROL INTO THE INTERSECTION. THE DRIVER SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES WHILE THE WHEELS SPUNOUT ON THE ROAD. ANOTHER VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH THE DODGE DURANGO AT ABOUT 45 MPH DAMAGING THE LEFT SIDE AND INJURING THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER AND THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER. THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED WITH THE COLLISION ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY AND CAUSED THE POWER STEERING TO MALFUNCTION. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE SELECTOR MOTOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE IN 2009, IT BEGAN SHUTTING OFF WHEN I DECELERATED FOR STOPS OR TURNS. NO ENGINE LIGHT WARNING. IN 2009, TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES. NO HELP. ISSUES HAVE CONTINUED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP IN 2010 3-4 TIMES FOR SAME ISSUE. SEEMS TO SHUT OFF MORE IN WINTER THAN SUMMER BUT IS VERY RANDOM. IN 2011, MORE EXPLORATORY WORK WAS COMPLETED AT DEALERSHIP. IS THERE A LEMON LAW? IN 2012, I HAD SOMEONE ELSE TINKER ON IT. STILL NO ASSISTANCE. THE ISSUES ARE LESS ANNOYING NOW AND BECOMING DANGEROUS AS IT NOW SHUTS OFF AT ANY TIME, AT ANY SPEED, IN ANY WEATHER. I'VE TRIED NEW BRAKES, COUPLE OF NEW BATTERIES, NEW COMPUTER CHIP, COMPLETE VISUAL OVERALL WITH COMPUTER ASSISTANCE AT DEALERSHIP. ONCE WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, O'REILY'S COMPUTER SAID THAT THE SENSOR BOX HAD MOISTURE IN IT. DEALERSHIP FOUND NO SUCH EVIDENCE. ALL MAINTENANCE LIKE OIL CHANGES ARE UP-TO-DATE. IN 2013 IN ADDITION TO THE SHUTTING OFF, THERE IS A BUMPING WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND NO ONE CAN CONTRIBUTE THAT ISSUE TO ANYTHING EITHER! NO HELP. SCARED TO DRIVE BUT NO $$ GET A NEW ONE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A PUBLIC SAFETY HAZARD. I BOUGHT MY USED DODGE DURANGO LAST OCTOBER 2014. EVERY TIME I FILL MY GAS TANK UP,THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF FROM A FULL TANK OF GAS ON MY VEHICLE, THEN THE GAS COMES GUSHING BACK OUT OF THE FUEL NECK OF THE DURANGO'S GAS TANK. THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS ON PREVIOUS YEARS BUT NONE ON 2006. THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE FILING COMPLAINTS BUT NO RECALLS? THIS CAUSES DAMAGE TO THE AUTOMOBILE PAINT, CLOTHES, PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT. WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE AND FILLING THE TANK TO FULL OR NEAR FULL, WHEN THE FUEL NOZZLE SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY, FUEL WILL SPRAY OUT OF THE FILLER NECK ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ALL OVER THE GROUND AND THE DRIVER. APPROXIMATELY 1/3 TO 1/2 GALLON OF FUEL WILL BE EXPELLED FROM THE TANK. THIS STARTED AFTER I HAD ABOUT 75000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT WILL HAPPEN EVERY TIME I FILL THE CAR UP. AS A RESULT I CAN ONLY FILL THE TANK ABOUT 3/4 FULL. THE FUEL HAS DESTROYED THE PAINT ON THE SIDE OF THE CAR. I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE 20 MILES HOME SOAKED IN GASOLINE AFTER THIS HAS HAPPENED. THERE ARE TIMES, AFTER SITTING AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS TO GO THE GEARS ARE SLOW TO ENGAGE AND ACTUALLY START MOVING. SOMETIMES THE DURANGO SHIFTS ROUGHLY AS YOU ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE. AS TIME HAS GONE ON THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME MORE PERSISTENT. I FINALLY TOOK MY DURANGO IN TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AND THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF THESE PARTS BEING REPLACED, MY DURANGO AGAIN BEGAN STALLING OUT. I DID HAVE THE DURANGO STALL OUT TWICE, BACK TO BACK, LOSING ALL POWER IN THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING POWER STEERING. I MANAGED TO GET HOME AND CALLED THE MECHANIC. THIS TIME HE REPLACED THE THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE. THE DURANGO IS STILL STALLING OUT AND SOMETIMES VERY SLOW TO ENGAGE GEARS WHEN STARTING OFF FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THIS PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY ADDRESS IN THE 2004-2005 MODELS AND CORRECTED. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY DURANGO AS IT IS NOT RELIABLE; THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. CLEARLY THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED.

RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT OF ALL BOLTS/STUDS THAT WILL MOST LIKELY BREAK OFF DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE MATERIAL USED BY CHRYSLER. WILL REQUIRE DRILLING OUT BOLTS FROM HEADS AT A MINIMUM COST OF OVER $1400 PER THE EXPERIENCE OF THE DEALER. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY CONSIDER THIS NORMAL WEAR... EVEN WHEN THE OWNER IS REQUIRED TO DRILL THE BOLTS OUT. THIS IS A FAILURE IN THE ENGINEERING AND DESIGN OF A VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AS IT CREATES DANGERS DUE TO EXTREME EXHAUST TEMPERATURE, EXHAUST GASES AND THE POTENTIAL FAILURE OF AN ENGINE ... IN FEBRUARY OF 214 WE STARTED HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING AFTER READING SEVERAL DIFFERENT INTERNET FORUMS I DISCOVERED THE ENGINE FAILURE WITH MY DODGE DURANGO WAS A COMMON PROBLEM.
