WHEN I FILLED MY CAR WITH GAS IT THE PUMP KICKED OFF BUT FUEL CAME SPILLING OUT FROM THE TANK. THE FUEL SPILLED OVER ME, THE CAR AND THE GROUND. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A ONE TIME THING BUT IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, EVEN WHEN I HAVE NOT FILLED THE TANK COMPLETELY. THIS HAS NOW CAUSED SERIOUS RUST AROUND MY TANK AND THROUGH THE CORNER PANEL. IT HAS NOW RUSTED THROUGH COMPLETELY. I AM AFRAID OF THE SAFETY OF THE TANK AND FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS. NOT TO MENTION THE COST OF LOST GAS. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP, ONCE THE GAS PUMP CLICKS OFF, GAS SPEWS FROM THE FUEL FILL AREA. *JS
UNFORTUNATELY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DURANGO FROM THE FIRST WEEK OF PURCHASE IN 2006. THE CURRENT ISSUE AND IS VERY SCARY WHILE DRIVING IS THE 4 LO LIGHT WILL QUICKLY FLASH RAPIDLY FOR SEVERAL FLASHES AND THEN STOPS. THE CAR WILL HESITATE AND SEEMS TO BECOME ENGAGED IN 4 LO ALL ON ITS OWN. IT ALSO MAKES A NOISE WHEN UNLOCKING VEHICLE THAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING UNDER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. IT HAS BE DOING THIS MORE FREQUENTLY. CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND THERE IS NO WARNING OR CONTROL. ALSO WHEN THIS OCCURS THE STEERING IS AFFECTED. IN A PARKING LOT RECENTLY I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A SHARP LEFT TURN AND THE VEHICLE JUST LOCKED UP COMPLETELY AND EVEN WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE IT WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAVE HAD MANY TIMES TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR "INSTRUMENT PANEL" RECALLS. IT REALLY SEEMS THAT THIS CAR HAS SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS AS THIS AGAIN SEEMS TO BE ELECTRICAL IN NATURE AND POTENTIALLY COULD BE FATAL IF DRIVING AND HAVING COMPLETE LOSE OF CONTROL. I HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AND ALSO NOTED THAT MANY OTHER DURANGO OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE FOR DODGE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THE ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THE REPEATED RECALLS AND REPAIRS THAT DO NOT SEEM TO HELP THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND HOPE THAT A RECALL WILL BE DONE BEFORE THERE ARE INCREASED ACCIDENTS OR WORSE DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY AND SAFETY OF THESE VEHICLES. *TR
I AM HAVING FUEL FILLIG PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS OVERFLOWING WHEN I FILL IT ITS BEEN ABOUT 43 YEARS I DID NOT KNOW WHO TO TELL UNTIL NOW BUT ONLINE RESEARCH POINT S A POSSIBLE ANSWER WHICH IS "THE FUEL OVERFLOW PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY THE FUEL TANK FILLER CHECK VALVE" IT ALSO CONSUME A LOT OF GAS JUST GOING DOWN THE STREET.
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK , IF THE FUEL NOZZLE IS ALLOWED TO AUTO SHUT OFF THE TANK WILL SPEW PRESSURIZED FUEL BACK OUT OF TE FILLER NECK ALL OVER THE PUMP, GROUND AND VEHICLE. *TR
MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO HAS AN INNUMERABLE AMOUNT OF ISSUES LIKE A CRACKED PASSENGER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD FROM A BAD BOLT AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHERE THE RADIO AND OVERHEAD LIGHT ONLY WORK WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT - BUT THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THIS TRANSMISSION. THIS MORNING I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO LEAVE THE DRIVEWAY AND AS I SHIFTED TO GO INTO DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. IT WOULDN'T GO INTO DRIVE, REVERSE OR EVEN NEUTRAL. THE WHEELS LOCKED UP COMPLETELY LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN PARK. THE CAR SAT IN THE ROAD UNTIL I COULD GET A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO A CERTIFIED TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP. LAST WEEK I HAD TAKEN IT TO A DIFFERENT CERTIFIED TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP TO CHECK A TRANSMISSION CODE THAT CAME UP UNDER A GENERAL P-007 CODE WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NO TRANSMISSION CODES WERE PRESENT IN THE BIG COMPUTER IN THE SHOP...THE GUY TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WAS FINE. THIS MORNING THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON AT ALL. SINCE WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK THE TRANSMISSION AND ELECTRICAL HAVE ACTED A LITTLE FLAKY BUT THIS IS DANGEROUS, VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, FUEL SPEWED FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN I FILL UP MY GAS TANK, THE GAS DOES NOT STOP FLOWING WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. THE INDICATOR DOES NOT WORK, THEREFORE GAS SPILLS OUT ONTO THE GROUND EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE TANK.
I BOUGHT MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO USED WITH 119,000 MILES IN NOVEMBER 2013. EVERY TIME I FILL UP, THE GAS OVERFLOWS. I ALWAYS FILL-UP WHEN STOPPING FOR GAS BECAUSE I DRIVE AN HOUR, ONE WAY, INTO TOWN AND HAVE TO GET GAS OFTEN. REGARDLESS OF HOW I PUMP GAS IT ALWAYS OVERFLOWS. I HAVE TRIED PUMPING FAST, PUMPING SLOW, AND PUTTING THE NOZZLE ALL THE WAY IN. I HAVE A TWO YEAR DAUGHTER AND I AM CONCERNED THIS OVERFLOW MAY IGNITE A FIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A BANGING NOISE AS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE WAS SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE AND A ROD HAD BEEN THROWN. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS BY ITSELF INTO 4WD. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, AND WHEN THE CAR IS SITTING UNATTENDED, WITH THE IGNITION OFF. THE TRANSFER CASE MAKES AN AUDIBLE NOISE, THEN THE WHEELS BECOME VERY HARD TO TURN WHILE DRIVING. THIS COULD EASILY RESULT IN A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL WAS SPEWING OUT. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE HAD TO LISTEN TO WHEN HE THOUGHT THE TANK WAS GOING TO BE FULL TO STOP FUELING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER HOWEVER THE CONTACT COULD NOT RECALL THE DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
UPON FIRST PURCHASING AT A DEALERSHIP THE PURCHASE WAS AS A USED VEHICLE, SO NO WARRANTY IS OR WAS IN PLACE. A FEW MONTHS LATER WHEN FILLING THE TANK AT A GAS STATION THE FIRST INCIDENT OF PROPULSION OF GASOLINE FORCING OUT OF THE TANK, FIRST HAPPENED. THEN A COUPLE OF TIMES WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE THE MOTOR WOULD NOT START. USING AN OBD TO CHECK CODES THERE WAS NO ERROR CODES BUT STILL ENDED UP CLEARING IT ANYWAYS WHICH ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO START (WHICH MEANS ITS THE COMPUTER). NOW, THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW IS DOWN AND WILL NOT GO BACK UP, CHECKED THE MOTOR AND THE MOTOR FOR THE WINDOW IS FINE, BUT CHECKING THE SWITCH IT WOULD ONLY UNLOCK DOOR, NOT ALLOW LOCK AND ABSOLUTELY NO WINDOW CONTROL AT ALL FROM EITHER THE PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH OR DRIVER SIDE SWITCH. WHEN LOOKING AT THE SWITCHES TURNS OUT THAT THE CIRCUIT BOARDS ARE NOT SOLDERED. THE ONLY WAY TO GET ANY OF THE PROBLEMS FIXED FOR ANYONE NOW WOULD BE FOR A RECALL, BECAUSE THE YEAR BEING 2014 NO WARRANTY WILL COVER ANY PROBLEMS THAT I OR ANYONE ELSE IS FACING! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WITHOUT ANY WARNING, PREVENTING THE VEHICLE FROM DRIVING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE FUEL FILLER VALVE IS FAILING AND ALLOWS THE FUEL TO SPILL OUT OF THE GAS TANK EVEN WHEN THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. IT WAS RECALLED FOR 2005 WHY NOT 2006?
FUEL OVER FLOWS OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. *TR
WHEN WE UNLOCK/LOCK THE DOORS WE CAN HEAR A CLICKING NOISE UNDER THE TRUCK. SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING OR TAKING A TIGHT TURN I CAN FEEL THE 4X4 KICK IN AND THE TIRES LOCK UP. SOMETIMES THE 4X4 DASH INDICATOR WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY AND SOMETIMES THE RED NEUTRAL LIGHT INDICATOR BY THE 4X4 SWITCH COMES ON. USUALLY SHUTTING THE TRUCK OFF AND ON AGAIN MAKES THAT GO AWAY. *JS
EVERYTIME I FILL UP OR COME CLOSE TO FILLING UP THE GAS WILL COME SHOOTING OUT OF THE TANK. IT GETS ALL OVER ME, THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. IT CAN SHOOT AS FAR AS 4 OR 5 FEET AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. I HAVE STOPPED PUTTING MORE THAN 1/2 A TANK AT A TIME IN IT BUT IT IS A HUGE INCONVENIENCE TO HAVE TO STOP FOR GAS SO MUCH. *TR
FUEL SPILLS OUT WHEN FILLING THE TANK. *TR
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE AIR BAG LIGHTS WILL COME ON & OFF WHILE DRIVING. (BOTH THE PASSENGER & DRIVER SIDES LIGHTS SEEMED TO ALTERNATE.) THIS TIME ALSO THE 4 WHEEL LOCK LIGHT BLINKED ON & OFF DURING THE 50 MILE TRIP GOING 70 MPH. WHEN I TURNED ON MY WIPERS THERE WAS A CHIME/DING. ONCE WHEN I ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOW THE WIPERS CAME ONE. ANOTHER TRIP TWO MONTHS AGO WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ACTING UP & I TURNED ON MY BLINKER TO CHANGE LANES THE WIPERS CAME ON. I ALSO JUST REALIZED THAT THE DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER UNLOCK WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. I HAVE TO MANUALLY DO IT NOW. ALSO IT USED TO AUTOMATICALLY LOCK THE DOORS WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND THAT HAS BEEN ACTING UP PERIODICALLY. THE ICING ON THE CAKE WAS YESTERDAY WHEN I WENT TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPOT AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED, I JUST TOOK IT TO BRIGGS DODGE IN TOPEKA, KS AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THESE ISSUES AND SHOW NOTHING WHEN THEY HOOKED IT UP. THEY TOLD ME THAT DODGE HAS A "STAR CASE" ON FILE AND THAT STATES THAT DRIVERS ARE CAUSING THESE PROBLEMS TO OCCUR. (I TOTALLY DISAGREE& THINK THIS IS A COP OUT) THEY ARE TELLING ME I GENERATE TOO MUCH STATIC ELECTRICITY! I FIND THIS VERY HARD TO BELIEVE. I AM VERY DISCOURAGED AND FRUSTRATED. I GUESS WHEN SOMEONE IS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT FROM ONE OF THESE FAILING, THEN MAYBE THEY WILL OWN UP TO THE PROBLEMS AND FIX THEM. *TR
MY VEHICLE STALLS WITH NO NOTICE. NO RPM LOSS. NO WARNING LIGHTS. JUST STALLS. THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO MY DRIVE WAY. THE NEXT TIME WHILE SLOWING FROM 35 MPH TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ONTO A SIDE STREET. THE LAST 2 TIMES I HAVE BEEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC HAVING IT STALL WHEN MERGING INTO THE TURN LANE. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FIND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS VERY SAME ISSUE. NOT SURE WHY CHRYSLER HAS NOT STEPPED UP AND ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE 4WD SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE 4WD WILL SWITCH ON AND OFF AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT MANUALLY BEING CHANGED. IT HAS A VERY LOUD SHIFTING SOUND THAT I NOTICE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON AND OFF. THE 4WD WILL TURN ON AS I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT HIGH SPEEDS, AND TAKING TURNS IT WILL COME ON AND MAKE A VERY LOUD POPPING NOISE. I HAPPENS CONSTANTLY AND IS HARD TO DRIVE DURING MY HOME HEALTH JOB. WHEN IT GETS INTO 4HI OR 4LO I AM STUCK IN SOME PLACES BECAUSE IT WILL NOT TURN PROPERLY. I CAN NOT GET IT TO SWITCH OUT OF 4WD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO DODGE DEALERS AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS HAS BECOME A VERY FRUSTRATING PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE AN 06 DURANGO WITH OUT THE CHIP KEY, I STICK MY KEY INTO THE IGNITION TO START IT BUT IT WON'T TURN AS IF IT'S THE WRONG KEY OR THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK IS ENABLED. IT HAPPENED MORE TWICE A DAY OVER THE LAST WEEK IT HAPPENS AFTER EVERY THIRD TIME I TURN ON MY TRUCK BUT WITH A LITTLE GIGGLING OF THE KEY AND STEERING WHEEL IT WENT. THEN LAST NIGHT AT 6:30AM I STOP BY MOMS HOUSE TO GET ME A COFFEE ON MY WAY HOME.. GET BACK TO MY TRUCK AND THE KEY JUST WOULDN'T TURN MY IGNITION... NOTHING WORKED, GIGGLE THE KEY OR REEFING ON THE STEERING WHEEL... FINALLY AFTER A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR OF TRYING I FINALLY MANAGED TO TURN THE IGNITION AFTER JAMMING THE KEY IN THERE PRETTY HARD A FEW TIMES... ANYWAYS I MANAGED TO GET HOME SINCE I WAS STILL BOUT HALF HOUR AWAY AT THE TIME.. *TR
APPROXIMATELY DURING SUMMER OF 2013, UPON STARTING ENGINE, THE IGNITION WOULD "STICK" WHEN KEY WAS TURNED FORWARD. DURANGO WOULD HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF AND KEY TAKEN OUT OF IGNITION SWITCH TO TRY IT AGAIN. THEN, UPON SHIFTING INTO REVERSE AND BACKING UP, THE VEHICLE WOULD COME TO AN ABRUPT HALT AND BE IMMOVABLE FOR A TIME, USUALLY UNTIL PUTTING INTO PARK AND RE-STARTING VEHICLE. THIS IS WHEN THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. WE HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED AT WHICH TIME THE WHEELS WERE LOCKED IN PLACE, CAUSING BLACK SKID MARKS FROM ITS POINT OF TOW TO TOW TRUCK. THE AUTO SHOP REPLACED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHICH WAS "STUCK OR LOCKED IN POSITION". MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT WENT OFF TEMPORARILY. IT CAME BACK ON AGAIN IN AUGUST, 2014. TOOK TO AUTO SHOP TO DIAGNOSE. AFTER 677.74 DOLLARS IN REPAIRS, LIGHT STILL REMAINS ON. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A NEIGHBOR STREET, WHILE THERE WAS RAINFALL. HIT A PUDDLE STEERING AND BRAKES LOCKED. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. I LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND IT RAINS ALOT DURING THE SUMMER. ADVISED CARMAX IN MIAMI. THEY SAID THIS IS BECAUSE THE SERPENTINE BELT IS GETTING WET. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SOMEONE COULD GET HURT. THEY NEED TO DO SOME TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT TO THESE VEHICLES INORDER FOR WATER NOT TO INTERFERE WITH THE SAFETY OF PEDESTRIANS, MOTORISTS AND OCCUPANTS. THIS IS A LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE CONNECTOR ROD HAD FAILED. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE THE GAS PUMP CLICKS OFF THEN FUEL SPEWS OUT THE FILLER NECK OF THE VEHICLE THIS HAS CAUSED THE PAINT TO COME OFF AND A HOLE TO RUST IN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE JUST UNDER THE FUEL CAP. *TR
THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS/ WARNING LIGHTS GO OFF AND ON, AND THE ODOMETER AND RPM GAUGES BOUNCE FROM ZERO TO LIKE 5000 RPM WHILE DRIVING. THE AC AND RADIO AND DVD AND NAVIGATION ALL SHUT OFF AND ON ALSO WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO CROWN MOTORS ON JUNE 21 AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TESTS RAN AND NOTHING CAME UP ALL WAS FINE. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK IN WHEN IT DID IT AND TO LEAVE IT RUN WHEN I GO INSIDE TO LET THEM KNOW. I TOOK BACK DOWN THERE ON JUNE 24 AS IT WAS DOING IT ALL AGAIN. THEY IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND STATED YOU DEFINITELY HAVE SOMETHING WRONG. THEY TOLD AFTER AN HOUR THAT THEY COULD ONLY GET THE READING UP TO THE ECM AND ANYTHING AFTER THAT IT IS NOT SHOWING UP THAT IT IS DEAD. THEY CALLED THE LEAD ENGINEER AT DODGE TO TRY AND FIND A SOLUTION. I TALKED TO THEM ON JUNE 25 AND STILL NO ANSWER. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO PUT $10 IN GAS AND WAS GOING TO CHARGE THAT TO ME AS THEY LOST THE SIGNAL TO DIAGNOSTIC SUE TO TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF. THEY DROVE AROUND FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES TO TRY AND REESTABLISH THE PROBLEM AND HAS NOT HAPPENED. I CALLED THEM TODAY JUNE 27,2013 AND TOLD I COULD COME AND PICK UP THE VEHICLE AS THEY CAN NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO DO THE PROBLEMS AGAIN TO REESTABLISH THE CONNECTIONS. THEY ALSO SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO JUST BRING IT BACK OVER SO THEY CAN REESTABLISH THE CONNECTION FOR THE PROBLEMS. I KNOW THAT THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON THESE VEHICLES. THEY DEALER TOLD THEY WERE ALL CLOSED OUT AND MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. STILL HAVE NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS WITH MY 2006 DURANGO. DUE TO THE FAULTY FUEL CHECK VALVE MY VEHICLE HAS A LINE OF RUST STRAIGHT DOWN FROM THE GAS CAP. DODGE REPAIRED THE CHECK VALVE BUT WILL NOT COVER ANY BODY WORK DUE TO THE MILEAGE/DATE WHEN THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. WITH DODGE BEING AT FAULT FOR FAULTY EQUIPMENT THEY SHOULD ALSO COVER THE DAMAGE CAUSED TO MY VEHICLE FROM THE EQUIPMENT. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS BUT HAVE BEEN TURNED DOWN FOR A RESOLUTION. PLEASE HELP! *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONCE THE FAILURE OCCURED, THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND DID NOT SHUT OFF UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON VARIOUS OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED IN 2007. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS FAULTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE VEHICLE, ON COLD START UP EXHIBITED A SURGING IDLE, FROM 500 RPM RANGING UP TO 2000 RPM. THE IDLE FINALLY LEVELED OUT AND SETTLED DOWN. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I NOTED SOME SURGING PRESENT WHILE AT A STEADY SPEED. ONCE, WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHILE IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE IDLE JUMPED UP AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE INTO THE INTERSECTION. LUCKILY NO CROSS TRAFFIC WAS PRESENT AND APPLYING THE BRAKES VERY HARD STOPPED THE VEHICLE FROM COMPLETELY RUNNING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PRESENT, NOR HAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER ILLUMINATED ON THIS VEHICLE, (OTHER THAN THE BULB CHECK ON START UP), FOR ANY REASON. AS AN ASE MASTER AUTOMOBILE TECHNICIAN AND A FORMER CHRYSLER FACTORY TRAINED TECHNICIAN, I CONNECTED A SCAN TOOL TO THIS VEHICLE TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. AS STATED, THERE WAS NO CEL, SO THERE WERE NO CODES ACTIVE, PENDING OR HISTORICAL. OBSERVATION OF THE LIVE DATA STREAM REVEALED NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. WITH ACCESS TO IDENTIFIX, I RESEARCHED AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER INSTANCES OF THE SAME CONCERN WITH 2006 DURANGOS, WITH RECOMMENDATIONS OF REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY DUE TO INTERMITTENT "GLITCHES" IN THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR SENDING FALSE READINGS TO THE PCM CAUSING THE IDLE CONTROL MOTOR TO INCREASE THE IDLE SPEED. I CURRENTLY HAVE THIS PART ON ORDER FROM MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. ONCE RECEIVED AND INSTALLED I WILL DETERMINE IF FURTHER ACTION WILL BE REQUIRED. *TR

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2006 DURANGO WITH SOME RUST BUBBLES BELOW THE GASOLINE FILL UP DOOR. ON RESEARCH OF THIS ISSUE I FOUND 372 COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM - SPITTING OUT GASOLINE WHEN BEING FILLED AT A GAS STATION OUT OF 553 TOTAL COMPLAINTS VIA NHTSA. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY VEHICLE A WEEK AND HAVE NOT YET FILLED THE TANK. NOW VERY LEERY OF FILLING THE TANK FOR FEAR OF BEING COVERED WITH GASOLINE, POLLUTING THE ENVIRONMENT, CAUSING AN EXPLOSION, INJURING/KILLING NEARBY INNOCENT BYSTANDERS, INCLUDING MYSELF. IN THE CASE OF A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION SUCH AS THIS, THERE IS LIABILITY AS WITH ANY SAFETY HAZARD. BESIDES THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS, THERE ARE VIDEOS ON POPULAR SITES DEMONSTRATING THE GAS SPIT BACK YET THERE ARE NO INVESTIGATIONS REPORTED REGARDING THIS COMPLAINT AND ONLY 2 SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING THIS COMPLAINT. IT MAKES ME SICK TO THINK THAT I OR SOME OTHER DURANGO OWNER COULD ACCIDENTALLY CAUSE A MASS FATALITY AT A GAS STATION IF SOME UNSUSPECTING PERSON USES THEIR CELL PHONE OR LIGHTS UP. I HAVE A 2006 DODGE DURANGO, BOUGHT IT USED ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO. ABOUT A YEAR AND HALF AGO, APPROXIMATELY MARCH OF 2013, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENED AT ALL SPEEDS AND AFTER IT HAPPENING MULTIPLE TIMES WE FIGURED OUT THAT IT HAPPENED WHEN IT WAS WET/RAINING OUT. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND DANGEROUS WHEN GOING 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY...TO HAVE YOUR VEHICLE JERK NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEN COMPLETELY SHUTOFF (AKA NO POWER AT ALL!). WE HAVE SPENT A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS SINCE SPRING OF 2013 TRYING TO FIX THE ISSUE. WE WORKED CLOSELY WITH OUR DEALER TO FIGURE OUT THE EXACT PROBLEM...FIGURED OUT IT WAS ELECTRICAL (POSSIBLY WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARE USED...)BUT THAT WAS ABOUT AS FAR AS WE GOT. SOME OF THE THINGS THEY FOUND AND/OR FIXED OR REPLACED ARE AS FOLLOWS: WIRING THAT WAS FRAYED, RE-GROUND NUMEROUS WIRES, REPLACED A HANDFUL OF SENSORS, RESEALED CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND MAIN MODULE (AS WELL AS RESEALED THE BOXES THEMSELVES SINCE WATER WAS FOUND IN THEM), REPLACED THE ELECTRICAL MODULE ($2K), AND REPLACED ENTIRE ELECTRICAL BOX(WHICH INCLUDED HAVING TO RE-WIRE)...FOUND A USED ONE SINCE BRAND NEW WOULD HAVE BEEN $1200! . I HAVE RECENTLY SEEN THAT THERE WAS A PETITION TO THE GOVERNMENT TO INVESTIGATE (AND HOPEFULLY RECALL) VEHICLES THAT HAVE SITUATIONS SIMILAR TO WHAT I HAVE DESCRIBED ABOVE BUT THEY REFERENCE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED 2007 AND FORWARD BUT OUR 2006 IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES!! WIPERS ACTIVATE ON THERE OWN DURING COLD TEMPERATURES. OCCASIONALLY THE TRUCK WILL DIE AFTER WIPERS UNEXPECTEDLY GO OFF. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CONTINUALLY STALLING AT LOWER RPM. I HAVE HAD A TUNE UP ON THE VEHICLE TO INCLUDE CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY, NEW PLUGS, PLUG WIRE BOOTS, AIR FILTER AND REPEATED DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS AT LOCAL GARAGE. NO ENGINE CODES ARE BEING REGISTERED. THE LOCAL GARAGE HAS A MECHANIC THAT HAS BEEN A DODGE MECHANIC FOR 15 YEARS. HE COORDINATED W/ THE LOCAL DODGE GARAGE AND RE-FLASHED THE ECM. 2 HOURS OUT OF THE MECHANICS GARAGE, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN A BUSY INTERSECTION AND CONTINUES TO STALL AND RUN HORRIBLY AT LOW RPM. *TR

I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE ONE WEEK, FILLED THE FUEL TANK TWICE AND HAD THE SAME ISSUE ON BOTH FILL UPS. WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FULL AND BACKS UP TO THE NOZZLE TO SHUT IT OFF, THE FUEL DOES NOT SHUT OFF AND SPRAYS AT LEAST 2 PINTS OF FUEL ON THE VEHICLE AND THE NOZZLE AND MYSELF.
