LIKE EVERY ONE OF THIS TYPE VEHICLE FROM CHRYSLER EVERY TIME YOU FUEL UP IT SHUTS THE PUMP OFF THEN SPEWS A COUPLE CUPS OF GAS BACK OUT ONTO WHO EVER IS THERE OR ONTO THE GROUND. I KNOW YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS AND HAVE DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT. WHY. YOU RECALLED A FEW IN 2005 AND IN RESEARCH ON LINE YOU CAN SEE NOTHING GOOD HAPPENED. IT IS TIME TO FIX IT NOW. *TR
GAS SHOOTS OUT OF FILLER NECK AFTER FILLING WITH FUEL. *TR.... UPDATED 06117/16 *BF
AS I WAS EXITING A HIGHWAY, MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO SUDDENLY STALLED OUT. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER IT STALLED. I LOST CONTROL OF STEERING AND WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE. I NEARLY CRASHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ENOUGH TO RUN INTO THE CURB TO STOP MY VEHICLE! I WAS NOT ABLE TO RE-START IT AND HAD TO BE TOWED. WHILE WAITING FOR POLICE TO ARRIVE, I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED MULTIPLE TIMES. IT WAS TOWED TO A SHOP AND THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO START IT UP WITH NO PROBLEM THE NEXT MORNING. HE CHECKED EVERYTHING, AND RAN ALL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS - ALL CAME BACK SHOWING NO PROBLEMS. THERE IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM - AND THERE ARE MAN, MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT ALL OVER THE INTERNET. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED, OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE, SINCE I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO STEER OR BRAKE. IS IT GOING TO TAKE A FATALITY BEFORE THIS IS RECALLED AND FIXED?????? I AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE IT NOW! *TR
I WAS PUMPING GAS. IT GOT TO ABOUT 1.7 GALLONS AND THEN THE GAS NOZZLE CLICKED AND THEN GAS SHOT OUT OF MY GAS TANK WITH MY CHILD STANDING BESIDE THE GAS TANK. IF HE WAS ANY CLOSER IT COULD'VE GOT IN HIS EYES! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, FUEL SPEWED OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 135,931. UPDATED 3/19/13 *CN THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE AFFECTED PARTS HAD AN EXTENDED LIFETIME WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FILLER NECK WAS REPLACED.
EVERY TIME THAT I ATTEMPT TO FILL THE GAS TANK, GASOLINE SPRAYS OUT OF THE TANK ALL OVER ME. THIS WAS NEVER A PROBLEM UNTIL THE VEHICLE HIT 60,000 MILES. THE PROBLEM STARTED A FEW MONTHS AGO AND HAPPENS EVERY TIME THAT I TRY TO FILL THE TANK UP. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE THAT I PUT INTO THE TANK. THERE IS APPROXIMATELY A QUART OR MORE OF GAS THAT SPRAYS EVERYWHERE. I AM GOING TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW TO SEE WHAT TYPE OF REMEDIATION IS AVAILABLE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE LIMITING GASOLINE EMISSIONS, SO I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN THAT GASOLINE SPRAYING ALL OVER THE PERSON PUMPING THE GAS AS WELL AS OVER THE GROUND IS A HAZARD. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND SEE THAT MORE THAT JUST THE 2005 IS AFFECTED. I THINK THAT THE DODGE DEALERSHIPS SHOULD HAVE TO CHECK EACH DURANGO FROM 2005 UNTIL WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. IF ANY ARE AFFECTED, THEY SHOULD HAVE TO FIX THOSE THAT ARE A PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BAR ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FRACTURED AND CAUSED HER TO FALL. THE CONTACT INJURED HER RIGHT KNEE AS A RESULT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HER THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 127,079.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING WOULD FLASH INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FRONT CONTROL MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH WHEN THE RPM READING INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME HESITANT UPON ACCELERATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
REFUELING THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF AND THEN A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS SPRAYS OUT THE TANK ALL OVER THE GAS PUMP HANDLE, AND DOWN THE CAR. ABOUT 2 CUPS OF GAS SPEW OUT ALMOST EVERY TIME WE FILL UP - EVEN IF PUMPING SLOWLY. THIS IS A NEW PROBLEM (HAD THE CAR SINCE NEW IN 2006) AND JUST STARTED LAST MONTH. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED OR AT LEAST FIXED AS IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR MY FAMILY SITTING IN THE CAR AS I REFILL, AND DANGEROUS IN MANY OTHER WAYS! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, CRASHING INTO A WALL. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE SHOULDER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT RESTRAIN THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THE CRASH AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE DID NOT TRIGGER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT SPECIFICATIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING ALSO ILLUMINATED WHILE THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNOCCUPIED. THE FUEL AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE READING BEGAN FLUCTUATING, THE HORN BEGAN TO SOUND INDEPENDENTLY AND THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BUT THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE POWER TRAIN MODULE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 DODGE DURANGO, WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK GAS SPEWS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK WHEN APPROACHING FULL. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON NUMEROUS CHRYSLER MAKES AND MODELS,INDICATING THE PROBLEM IS WITH A FAULTY INLET CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK. ONLY CERTAIN SPECIFIC VIN NUMBERS ARE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL DESPITE THE FACT THAT THOUSANDS OF DOCUMENTED COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN RECORDED. CHRYSLER HAS DENIED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING MANUFACTURE DEFECT, I ASSUME TO KEEP FROM HAVING TO SPEND POTENTIALLY MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS NOT ONLY A FIRE HAZARD, BUT AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD A WELL. PLEASE TAKE THE APPROPRIATE STEPS TO REQUIRE THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION TO INCLUDE ANY VEHICLES WITH THIS DEFECT IN AN UPDATED RECALL. FILL THE GAS TANK AND WHEN STOPPED FILLING A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS BACKFLOWS OUT OF TANK ONTO THE GROUND AND PERSON PUMPING GAS! THIS IS A MAJOR HAZARD BOTH FOR THE PERSON AND THE ENVIRONMENT. TOOK TO DODGE DEALER AND THEY SAID THIS HAS HAPPENED A LOT AND ONLY WAY TO FIX IS TO REPLACE GAS TANK WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE. FUEL SPIT BACK. AS MANY OTHERS HAVE STATED THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE NOT TO MENTION AN ENVIRONMENTAL ONE. HOW CAN THIS BE A USER PROBLEM WHEN IT IS CLEARLY A MALFUNCTION OF PARTS PROBABLY THE SAME AS THE 2005 RECALL. I AM SENDING AN EMAIL TO CHRYSLER AND THE EPA SEE WHO COMES BACK FIRST. *TR
I JUST BOUGHT A 2006 DODGE DURANGO ON 11/2/2012 AND WENT TO THE GAS STATION TO FILL IT UP AND IT OVER FLOWED ABOUT A 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS ON THE GROUND AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK. I FIRST THOUGHT MAYBE I DIDN'T HAVE IT ALL THE WAY IN THE GAS TANK. BUT THEN I GASSED UP AGAIN ON THE 10TH OF NOVEMBER 2012 AND IT DID IT AGAIN. I AM REALLY UPSET ABOUT THIS ISSUE. DODGE SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ANY OF MY FAMILY WE WILL BE SUING DODGE!!!!! I AM SURPRISED NO ONE HAS BEEN HURT YET. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!! EVERY GAS FILL MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO SPITS BACK A LOT OF GAS. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND THE PROBLEM IS CONSTANT WHEREEVER I GO. HELP! *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. *TR
WHEN I FUEL MY VEHICLE THE FUEL SPILLS BACK ONTO ME. IF I STAND AWAY IT GOES ONTO THE GROUND. WHEN I CONTACTED DODGE THEY STATED THE CURRENT RECALL DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE. THIS WILL AT SOME POINT CAUSE A FIRE AND SERIOUSLY INJURE OR KILL THE PERSON FILLING THE VEHICLE. DODGE HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS ON MODEL YEARS 2005-2008 (WHICH INCLUDES MY VEHICLE YEAR) FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND, BUT FAILS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH MY VIN. *TR
OVER THE LAST 12 AND 1/2 MONTHS, IT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH FILLING THE GAS TANK. EACH TIME THAT I FILL UP MY TANK, THE GAS WILL EITHER SPILL BACK OUT FROM UNDER THE CAR, SPOUT OUT LIKE IT IS SPRAYING IN THE AIR OR IT WILL JUST COME BACK OUT AND ROLL DOWN THE SIDES OF THE TRUCK. THIS HAS BECOME A CONTINUING ISSUE AND WHEN I CALLED THE DODGE PLACE WITHIN MY AREA, THEY CLAIMED TO NOT KNOW OF THIS BEING A PROBLEM OR A RECALL. BUT AS I STARTED MY RESEARCH, I LOCATED MANY PEOPLE IN MY SAME PREDICAMENT. *TR
WHILE FUELING THE CAR AT THE GAS STATION I KEEP CONTINUING TO HAVE BACK-FLOW OF GAS PROPELLING OUT OF THE FILL SPOUT WHEN FILLING UP. IT IS HAPPENING EVERY-TIME AND I THINK THIS IS NOT A SAFE THING TO HAVE GAS COMING FLYING BACK OUT AND GETTING OVER THE GROUND & MYSELF. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE FOUND THERE IS A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THE 2005 MODELS WHICH HAVE A RECALL AND NOW THE 2006-2008 MODELS HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN IF MANUFACTURED AFTER FEB 20006 & ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. EACH TIME I FUEL, ONCE THE TANK IS FULL, IT SPEWS/GURGLES A LARGE AMOUNT OF FUEL BACK OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. IT HAPPENS AT EVERY KIND OF PUMP, AND IT HAPPENS WHETHER I USE THE AUTO SHUT OFF OR IF I CONTROL THE FLOW AND SLOW IT TO A TRICKLE. IT STILL HAPPENS ONCE THE TANK GETS CLOSE TO FULL. EACH TIME I FUEL, I SPILL AT LEAST 1-3 QUARTS OF FUEL ONTO THE GROUND. THIS IS VERY HARMFUL TO THE ENVIORNMENT, A WASTE OF MY MONEY, AND A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE OWNED MANY NEW AND OLD VEHICLES, AND NEVER IN MY LIFE, HAVE I EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM FUELING MY CAR. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FROM DODGE, BECAUSE THEY RECALLED THE 2005 DURANGO FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM. SO WHY FIX THE 2005'S AND NOT THE 2006???? *TR
CONTROLLER THAT TURNS BETWEEN DEFROST, FLOOR, AND FRONT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY A FEW YEARS AGO. IT WAS RAINING, AND A TURNED THE KNOB TO DEFROST....AND NOTHING HAPPENED! THE SWITCH THAT OPENS AND CLOSES THE COMPARTMENTS FROM FACE TO DEFROST HAD BROKEN. THE BLOWER STILL WORKS, BUT ALL COMES OUT ON THE FACE...NO DEFROST OR FLOOR. THERE ARE 1000'S OF THESE COMPLAINTS ONLINE. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME, 2,000 TO REPLACE THE PLASTIC PIECE A MANUFACTURER USED RECYCLED PLASTIC WHICH IS A COMMON PROBLEM TO BREAK. NOW IN RAIN, I ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS, USE MC DONALDS NAPKINS TO CONTINUE TO WIPE OFF THE WINDSHIELD SO I CAN SEE TO DRIVE, WHILE IN ROUTE TO MY JOB IN A SUITE. I CAN DEAL WITH THE 2=3 GALLONS OF GAS ON THE GROUND WHILE PUMPING GAS INTO THE FAULTY TANK BY STOPPING AT 50, BUT THIS IS RIDICIOUS!! I REAR-ENDING CAR IN FRONT OF ME. SLIGHT INJURIES, AND A HUGE INSURANCE BILL WHILE NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE WHILE PARAELL PARKING TO SEE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. THERE IS NO QUESTION THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. UNFORTUNATELY INSURANCE COMPANIES DO NOT SEE A FAULTY POORLY COMPILED DEFROSTING COMPONENT SWITCH AS PROBABLE CAUSE TO BE COVERED UNDER THE COLLISION POLICY. *TR
UPON FILLING FUEL TANK GAS WILL EMIT FROM THE FILLING AREA. HAPPENS AT ALL GAS STATIONS NO MATTER THE FILLING SPEED. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE 2005 MODEL BUT WHY NOT THE 2006? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,393.
FILLING GAS TANK. WHEN THE PUMP KICKS OFF AT FULL I GET GAS KICKING BACK OUT OF TANK. ACTUALLY ITS ALOT OF GAS ALL OVER SIDE OF VEHICLE AND GROUND. IF IM HOLDING GAS NOZZLE I GET GAS ON MY ARM. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND DON'T KNOW IF PREVIOUS OWNER MADE COMPLAINTS. THIS HAPPENS EACH TIME I FILL TANK. *TR
WHILE FUELING OUR 2006 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED WHEN THE VEHICLE TANK BECAME FULL THE FUEL NOZZLE ON THE PUMPED KICKED OFF, BUT THEN FUEL BEGAN SPEWING OUT OF THE VEHICLE FUELING SPOUT DUE TO AN APPARENT FAILURE OF THE TANK VALVE FLAP THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT THIS OCCURRENCE. APPROXIMATELY 1/4 TO 1/2 OF A GALLON OF GAS SPEWS OUT EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS, MOSTLY ON THE CAR, BUT ALSO ON MINE OR MY WIFE'S HANDS AND SHOES. THIS IS PROBABLY THE 90-100TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OUR VEHICLE SINCE WE PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW IN LATE 2006, AND THERE ARE MANY OTHER 2006 DURANGO OWNERS ON THIS SITE AND THE DODGE DURANGO CLUBS WEB SITES THAT COMPLAIN OF THE SAME FAILURE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE 2005 DURANGO WAS RECALLED FOR THE SAME FAILURE, BUT THE 2006 HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A FIRE OR SOMEONE GETTING HURT OR KILLED TO GET THIS CORRECTED. WE PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE NEW FOR THIS OCCURRENCE TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME WE FILL THE TANK UP. THE DEALERSHIP IGNORES THE ISSUE, AND CHRYSLER WANTS ME TO PAY TO HAVE IT INVESTIGATED, AND MAY REFUND ME IF IT IS FOUND TO BE A FAULTY PART. I CANNOT AFFORD THE $600 THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO DO THIS WORK (DRAINING AND REMOVING THE TANK). SOMEONE NEEDS TO TAKE A HARD LOOK AT THIS ISSUE AND HELP US OUT WITH IT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR A FIRE IS CAUSED BY IT. *TR

WHEN THE GAS TANK IS FULL, THE DODGE DURANGO SPITS GASOLINE OUT AND SPILLS IT ALL OVER THE VEHICLE, THE GROUND, AND ANYONE WHO HAPPENS TO BE NEAR THE PUMP. THIS HAS HAPPENED FROM DAY ONE OF OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE AND HAPPENS EACH AND EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS FUELED. DRENCHING A MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR IN GASOLINE EVERY TIME THEY FILL THE GAS TANK IS CAUSTIC TO THE INDIVIDUAL AND DANGEROUS TO THOSE BREATHING THE FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE. *TR
WAS PUMPING FUEL AND THE NOZZLE CLICKED OFF AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER FUEL CAME SPLASHING OUT OF THE TANK. *TR
WHEN I TRY TO FILL UP MY FUEL TANK, WHEN THE PUMP STOPS, GAS IS EXPELLED OUT OF MY TANK AND SPILLS ALL OVER THE CAR AND GROUND. THE FUEL IS EXPELLED WITH SOME FORCE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE QUARTER PANEL BECAME CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
WHEN FILLING MY VEHICLE AT THE GAS STATION, THE GAS WILL OVERFLOW OR SPIT OUT OF THE TANK INSTEAD OF STOPPING NORMALLY WHEN THE TANK NEARS FULL LEVEL. THIS HAPPENS NO MATTER HOW SLOWLY I AM REFUELING. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE ON THE 05 MODELS BUT THERE STILL IS NOT ONE FOR THE 06 EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS JUST LIKE THIS. MY DODGE DURANGO HAS BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR AWHILE. I FINALLY DID SOME ONLINE READING OF POSTS AND FOUND OTHER DRIVERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. ALMOST EVERY DAY WHEN I START MY SUV THE RPM'S REV UP AND DOWN. IT ALSO DOES THIS WHEN I AM SITTING AT A DRIVE-THU LINE, STOP SIGN, OR IN TRAFFIC. IT ALSO HAS DIED ON ME WHEN DRIVING. MOSTLY WHEN COMING FROM A STOP, BUT HAPPENS WHEN MAKING TURNS, OR SOMETIMES JUST FOR NO REASON AT ALL. IF IT DOESN'T STALL IT HESITATES. IT ALSO WILL JUMP FORWARD WHEN COMING TO A STOP. LIKE I SAID THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR AWHILE. WE HAVE SERVICED THE SUV FOR REPAIR EVERY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE REPAIR SHOP THEN FIXES OR CLEANS CERTAIN PARTS/AREAS, JUST FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN. YESTERDAY (JUNE 27, 2012) IT STOPPED WORKING WITH ALL MY CHILDREN IN THE SUV AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. IT IS CURRENTLY SITTING IN A SHOP WHILE THE TECHS SCRATCH THEIR HEADS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO PUT FUEL TO FILL UP THE CAR GAS EXPLODES OUT OF TANK. THIS HAPPENS ANY TIME WHEN TRYING TO PUT GAS IN THE VEHICLE, IT'S PROBABLY AT LEAST A HALF GALLON EACH AND EVERY TIME, IT GETS ALL OVER ME THE VEHICLE THE GROUND. IT'S TO THE POINT WERE I CAN'T EVEN FILL UP, FUEL SHOULDN'T COME OUT WHEN FILLING A VEHICLE UP AND WITH THE SUMMER MONTHS UPON US THIS IS A GREAT HAZARD. I WOULD FIGURE THIS IS A MAJOR FIRE HAZARD AND WOULD NEED TO BE FIXED, 2005 DODGE DURANGOS WERE RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SAME THING, BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING FOR THE 2006 DODGE DURANGOS. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING OUR 2006 DODGE DURANGO FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO VEER OFF THE ROAD ON A SIDE STREET AND COAST DOWN INTO A PARKING LOT. BY THIS POINT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE. SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT OF THE VEHICLE VENTS ON THE DASHBOARD. WE THOUGHT MAYBE A PART BROKE AT FIRST. MY HUSBAND OPENED THE HOOD AND THERE WAS NO VISIBLE FIRES AND NOT A LOT OF SMOKE. SMOKE STARTED COMING MORE AND MORE QUICKLY OUT OF THE VENTS. WE GOT OUR 3 CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR. BY THIS POINT SMOKE WAS BILLOWING OUT. MY HUSBAND RAN INTO A BUILDING AND CALLED FOR HELP. THE BUSINESS GAVE US A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. AS MY HUSBAND RAN BACK TO THE DURANGO FLAMES HE SAW THE DASHBOARD START TO COLLAPSE. NEXT THING WE KNEW FLAMES WERE FLYING UP THE FRONT WINDOW. HE USED THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER ON IT. THE FIREMAN ARRIVED AND HELPED MAKE SURE THE FIRE WAS COMPLETELY OUT. *TR
WHILE FILLING UP WITH GAS, GAS STARTED SPEWING OUT OF THE TANK. I WAS COVERED HEAD TO TOE IN GAS AND IT WAS FLOWING DOWN THE PAVEMENT AT THE GAS STATION. WHAT IF SOMEONE HAD DISCARDED A LIT CIGARETTE? I HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH A LOT OF THE DODGE DURANGO'S. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED! IT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES SINCE THEN. *TR
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK, WHEN TANK IS FULL, GAS WILL SPILL OUT FILLER NECK. THE SPILLED GAS SPLASHES EVERYWHERE, AND HAS BEEN ON THE BODY BELOW THE FILLER NECK ENOUGH TIMES THAT IT HAS CAUSED THE PAINT TO LIFT, AND A RUST HOLE TO FORM IN THE FENDER. NO OTHER RUST ON VEHICLE. *TR

I HAVE TWO ISSUES WITH MY DURANGO. DURING FUELING THE PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF CAUSING AN OVERFLOW OF GAS ON THE GROUND, ON MY SHOES, ETC. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. MY MECHANIC THINKS IT IS A SENSOR ISSUE BUT DODGE HAS NOT RECALLED THE VEHICLE TO FIX IT. THE SECOND ISSUE IS I CAN TAKE MY KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION WHILE THE ENGINE AND IGNITION ARE IN THE RUN POSITION, LOCK THE CAR AND TAKE THE KEY WITH ME AND THE ENGINE WILL RUN LIKE THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION. *TR
GAS SPEWED ALL OVER ME AND MY VEHICLE (WHILE PUMPING GAS) AFTER THE TANK REACHED FULL. IT HAS DONE IT EVERY TIME I'VE FILLED IT UP SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. *TR
FUEL SPIT BACK WHILE REFUELING FROM FUEL FILLER TUBE HAS HAPPENED AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND TIMES. *TR
AT RANDOM TIMES, INCLUDING WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE TRANSFER CASE ON MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO AWD WILL ENGAGE THE 4WD. IT CAN HAPPEN WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN YOU INSERT THE KEY AND BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE. IT ALSO MAKES THE CLICKING SOUND AS IF IT IS ENGAGING WHEN YOU UNLOCK THE DOORS (POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM?) IT CAN ALSO HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING WHILE TURNING A CORNER, SUCH AS THE SHARP CORNERS IN A DRIVE-THRU. THE EFFECT IS SUCH THAT ONE WHEEL LOCKS UP AS IF ONE FRONT WHEEL HAS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. WHEN GOING STRAIGHT THERE IS NO ISSUE. I HAVE RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND FORUMS WHERE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS RANDOM AND INTERMITTENT, AND DIFFICULT TO REPRODUCE AT THE DEALERSHIP. OFTEN THEIR RESPONSE IS TO SIMPLY REPLACE ONE OR MORE OF THE THREE MAIN COMPONENTS WITHOUT VERIFYING THAT IS THE ISSUE. THIS CAN BE QUITE EXPENSIVE FOR THE OWNER AND FRUSTRATING AFTER SPENDING LARGE SUMS OF MONEY AND THE ISSUE REMAINS UNSOLVED. I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER MIGHT HAVE THIS ISSUE IN A DRIVE-THRU, AND TO OVERCOME THE LACK OF MOVEMENT AFTER PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, THEY MAY REV THE ENGINE. THIS MIGHT OVERCOMPENSATE AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO DART FORWARD INTO ANOTHER CAR, OR EVEN INTO THE BUILDING AS THE WHEELS ARE TURNED TO GO AROUND THE CORNER. IF THE 4WD DISENGAGES AT THE REVVING OF THE ENGINE, THIS COULD ALSO CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY ACCELERATE INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE, PEDESTRIAN, OR BUILDING. *TR
INTERIOR LIGHTS NEVER GO OFF AND HAS A RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME IT TAKES SEVEN DAYS TO GET THE PART AND HAVE IT PROGRAMMED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE SINCE THIS IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION. THIS VEHICLE ALSO HAS THREE OTHER RECALLS THAT THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T TELL ME ABOUT. I THINK THEY ARE MAKING THIS DIFFICULT SO THAT CUSTOMERS WILL NOT GET THEIR RECALLS DONE. THERE IS ALSO A RECALL ON A SUSPENSION PART THAT COULD CAUSE AN CRASH- WIPERS AND LIGHTS- AND FILLING THE GAS TANK IS A ROYAL PAIN IN THE ........ THE FUEL SPITS BACK OUT AT YOU BEFORE YOUR TANK IS FULL. THESE ARE ALL SAFETY HAZARDS THAT DODGE NEEDS TO ADDRESS WITH NO COST OR INCONVENIENCE FOR THE OWNER. IF THESE RECALLS ARE NOT REPAIRED THERE IS A REASONABLE CHANCE THAT LIFE THREATENING EVENTS COULD OCCUR. NOT SURE WHY THE DODGE COMPANY ALLOWS THESE DEALERSHIPS TO DO THIS TO THEIR CUSTOMER. I SUGGEST THAT EVERY PERSON WHO HAS HAD PROBLEMS COMPLAIN TO THE COMPANY AS WELL AS THIS SITE ------- MAY BE SOMEONE WILL DO SOMETHING. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK ON THIS VEHICLE THE GASOLINE SPILLED OVER AND OUT OF THE GAS TANK. IT HAS DONE THAT ALMOST EVERYTIME I TRY TO FILL THIS DURANGO UP AT THE GAS STATION.
POWER WINDOWS: APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO, THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW SLIPPED DOWN AND WOULD NOT COME UP. WE WERE TOLD BY DODGE THAT IT WOULD BE @ $500.00 FIX (POWER WINDOW MOTOR/LABOR). WE MANAGED TO GET GLASS UP AND LEFT IT ALONE. NOT LONG AFTER THIS, MY DRIVER WINDOW WAS BROKEN BY A ROCK AND REPLACED BY SAFELITE, JUST THE GLASS. RECENTLY, THE DRIVER POWER WINDOW STARTED ACTING UP, FELL DOWN IN DOOR AND BROKE. WHEN GLASS WAS REPLACED 2ND TIME, SAFELITE TOLD US THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: DODGE VEHICLES CAN ONLY BE REPLACED WITH DODGE GLASS AND THAT UP UNTIL @ 2 YEARS AGO, THE 2 BRACKETS HOLDING THE GLASS TO THE MOVABLE POWER ARM WAS A METAL BRACKET. THIS METAL BRACKET HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED WITH A TYPE OF PLASTIC BRACKET ATTACHING TO MOVABLE POWER ARM. HEREIN LIES THE PROBLEM: OVER TIME, THE METAL BRACKETS RUST FROM MOISTURE (RAIN) LOSING ALL ADHESIVE IN IT THAT HOLDS GLASS IN PLACE. ONCE ADHESIVE IS GONE, THE GLASS COMES OUT OF BRACKET AND DROPS INTO DOOR OR CAN FALL OUT. EVEN IF GLASS DOES NOT BREAK, THERE IS NOT AN ADHESIVE AVAILABLE THAT ONE CAN TRY TO ADHERE TO GROOVE IN BRACKET TO SET GLASS IN. THEREFORE, THE CONSUMER IS FORCED TO PURCHASE A NEW GLASS THAT HAS NEW PLASTIC BRACKETS THAT ATTACH TO MOVABLE POWER ARM AND MAY BE ROOKED INTO PURCHASING NEW ARM/MOTOR. NOW WE KNOW THAT PASSENGER WINDOW PROBLEM IS LACK OF BRACKET ADHESIVE, ARM/MOTOR WORK FINE. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, OUR 2003 RAM 1500 PICK-UP IS HAVING THESE SAME ISSUES WITH BOTH FRONT WINDOWS! REAR WINDOWS ON BOTH VEHICLES SEEM TO BE OK, BECAUSE THEY ARE USED MUCH LESS. THE WINDOW MOTORS ON BOTH VEHICLES ARE FINE-IT IS THESE BRACKETS AND LACK OF ADHESION TO WINDOW GLASS THAT IS THE PROBLEM. WE COULD POSSIBLY BE PAYING @ $1,500.00 TO FIX 3 FRONT WINDOWS ON OUR VEHICLES. EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD NOT ABLE TO RAISE/LOWER WINDOW - SAFELITE REPLACING MANY DODGE WINDOWS DUE TO THIS EXACT PROBLEM. *TR
MY CAR AT 65 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY CAR JUST TURNED OFF. NO WARNING OR NOTICE. CAR CAME TO A CRAWL. I WAS LUCKY TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. ONE THERE THE CAR LIGHTS CAME ON THE CHECK ENGINE, RED BOLT LIGHTS AND THE OIL LIGHT. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I STARTED CAR AND IT STALLED THEN STARTED BUT WAS A ROCKY START. I SHUT IT OFF AND RESTARTED. THE CAR WORKED FINE. THEN 3 MONTHS LATER THE CAR DID THE SAME TIME. THIS WHEN I PLACED IT IN THE SHOP THEY SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. SO $1400 DOLLARS LATER AND 5 DAYS I PICKED UP MY CAR AND 3 MILES AWAY FROM SHOP THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK THEY DID A TEST THE CODES WHERE COMING BACK AS A WEIRD CODES. THEY DID NOT HAVE A CLEAR ANSWER SO THEY DID A THROTTLE CLEAN. CAR WORKED FINE. NEXT 3 MONTHS. I WENT OUT OF STATE IN JUNE 2013 WHEN MY CAR STOPPED AGAIN MY CAR WAS LEFT IN THIS STATE WAITING ON COMPUTER BOARD THAT WAS OUT OF STOCK UNTIL AUGUST 2013 WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR THEY PLACED THE NEW SYSTEM IN IT ALONG WITH A WIRELESS KEY. AS SOON AS I CROSSED STATE LINE IT STOPPED AGAIN. AS YOU CAN SEE THESE ISSUE ARE UNSOLVABLE OR NO WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBLE FOR ISSUE. I STILL HAVE ISSUE BUT I CANT EXPRESS IT ALL IN THIS SOME AMOUNT OF TIME. *TR
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN APRIL OF 2012 AND THE FUEL OVERFLOW WAS NOTICED IMMEDIATELY UPON PURCHASE. SELLER INFORMED THAT IT WAS A NATIONAL PROBLEM WITH ALL DURANGO VEHICLES AND THERE WAS NO FIX. IN THE MEANTIME, THE FUEL OVERFLOWS AT EACH REFILL AND HAS CAUSED ME TO IMMEDIATELY WASH DOWN THE AREA (WHILE FUELING) TO PREVENT FIRE AND ADDITIONAL CORROSION. *TR
