WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE TANK OVERFLOWS SPRAYING GAS ALL OVER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACTS OWN A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED BECAUSE HER KEYS WERE TOO HEAVY. THE KEYS WERE REMOVED AND LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AGAIN AND THE CONTACT RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHO TESTED THE FUEL PUMP BUT COULD NOT REPLICATE THE FAILURE. A MONTH LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,490.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, AT MULTIPLE DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND PUMPS, THE FUEL TANK OVERFLOW FAILS TO SHUT OFF BEFORE GAS SPILLS OR SPRAYS OUT OF THE TANK. *TR
AT EVERY FUEL FILL UP REGARDLESS OF THE GAS STATION, THE FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF AND FUEL SPILLS ALL OVER THE GROUND AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK. *TR
THIS DURANGO HAD SPEWED GAS DURING FILL UP EVER SINCE PURCHASED 11/2006, SO I JUST TRIED TO BE CAREFUL WHEN FILLING. APRIL 2012, I HAD SOME RUST FIXED AROUND THE REAR WHEEL AREA ON THE GAS TANK SIDE. DID NOT REALLY THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT AT THE TIME. 1/29/14 I HAD AN INLET CHECK VALVE REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO NOTIFICATION FROM CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THOUGHT THEN THAT THIS DEFECT IS PROBABLY WHAT CAUSED MY RUST ISSUE BUT I HAD HAD THAT FIXED SO DID NOT THINK ANYTHING ABOUT IT....UNTIL IT STARTED TO RUST AGAIN IN THE SAME AREA. THIS IS A WITHOUT A DOUBT CAUSED BY THE FAULTY INLET CHECK VALVE. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER INTENTIONALLY DID NOT NOTIFY THEIR CLIENTS UNTIL THE 100,000 MILE RUST WARRANTY WAS UP. THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THE RESULTING DAMAGE FROM THE FAULTY INLET CHECK VALVE.
FUEL SHUT OFF VALVE IN THE VEHICLE IS MALFUNCTIONED. BOUGHT USED A FEW WEEKS AGO AND HAVE FILLED UP 3 TIMES NOW, AND EVERY TIME, THE PUMP IS NOT ACTIVATED TO SHUT OF AND FUEL FLIES OUT O THE GAS TANK, GETTING ALL OVER THE VEHICLE, THE GAS PUMP, AND SOMETIMES THE PERSON PUMPING THE GAS. HUGE SAFETY HAZARD!! *TR

WE'VE TRIED DIFFERENT GAS PUMPS AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS OWNED BY DIFFERENT COMPANIES. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL THAT COVERS EARLIER DURANGOS. I PURCHASED THIS 2006 DURANGO USED IN 2012.FROM DAY 1, IT HAS SPEWED FUEL OUT WHEN FILLING UP. I HAVE BEEN SOAKED ON A FEW OCCASIONS, AND HAVE HAD FUEL SPRAYED IN MY EYES. I HAVE SEEN PRIOR YEARS BEING RECALLED FOR THE SAME REASON, BUT NOT THIS MODEL YEAR. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. *TR
THERE HAVE BEEN 2 RECALLS TO DATE ON THE MODEL YEAR 2005 DURANGO, 44,951 ALL TOGETHER. WITH MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO, FUEL SPRAYS OUT OF THE FILL TUBE BECAUSE OF A CHECK VALVE THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED TWO DIFFERENT TIMES. NO WARNINGS, NO LETTERS TO THE OWNERS OF THE DURANGO NOW TO ADVISE THEM TO USE CAUTION. PLEASE OPEN AN INVESTIGATION NOW AND HAVE THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE CORRECTED FOR ALL OF THE DURANGO OWNERS ON THE ROAD TODAY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCNERN. THE PROBLEM HAS ALREADY BEEN IDENTIFIED IN EARLIER MODELS, AND THERE SEEMS TO BE SIGNIFICANT ISSUES WITH THE 2006 MODELS AS WELL.
WHILE FUELING THE CAR AT THE GAS STATION I KEEP CONTINUING TO HAVE BACK-FLOW OF GAS WHEN FILLING UP. IT IS HAPPENING EVERY-TIME AND I THINK THIS IS NOT A SAFE THING TO HAVE GAS COMING FLYING BACK OUT AND GETTING OVER THE GROUND. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE FOUND THERE IS A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THE 2005 MODELS AND NOW THE 2006'S ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE INQUIRY IS RQ08005 AND THE RECALL IS 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY FILLER PIPE AND CAP). WE NEED TO PRESSURE THEM TO FIX THIS ISSUE FOR ALL THE DURANGO'S. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS REPLACED TWICE BEFORE THE CONTACT OWNED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERNAL LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND THE DOORS LOCKED WITH NO WARNING. THE FAILURES OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SIX TIMES. A MECHANIC AT THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE THAT KEPT RECURRING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPILLED FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,300.
WHEN I GO TO THE GAS STATION TO PUT GAS IN I CAN ONLY PUT A 1.50 IN AND THE PUMP KICK OFF AND GAS COME OUT I WAIT FOR A LITTLE BITE AND IT WILL TAKE 2.00 AND TIT DOES THE SAME THING AGAIN IT COME RIGHT BACK OUT. *TR
YOU CAN NOT FILL THE GAS TANK OVER 3/4 FULL AS IT WILL RESULT IN A MASSIVE FUEL SPILLAGE OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE BACKWASH OUT OF THE TANK WILL COVER YOU AND THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND YOU WITH FUEL. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT KIND OF FUEL STATION IS FILLING IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME. IF THERE WAS ANY KIND OF SPARK A LARGE FIRE WOULD OCCUR. *TR
EVERY TIME AT FILL UP WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE, WHEN THE GAS PUMP CLICKS OFF FUEL SHOOTS/SPILLS OUT OF GAS TANK OPENING. DOING RESEARCH ON LINE I'VE DISCOVERED MANY OTHER DODGE DURANGO'S WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THERE HAS BEEN A TSB # 14-001-12 AND NHTSA REF. # 10043594 ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND DURANGOS WITH CERTAIN VIN#S HAVE BEEN FIXED WITH THIS TSB. I THOUGHT ALL 2006 DURANGOS WOULD BE FIXED WITH THIS TECH. SERVICE BULLETIN. WHEN I INQUIRED AT THE DEALER ON 6/9/12 ABOUT HAVING THE PROBLEM FIXED I WAS TOLD MY VIN # WAS NOT COVERED IN THE TSB. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND HAD A REP. CALL ME AND ASK WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THAT SHE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM. I REFERRED TO THE TSB NOTICE AND SHE STILL ACTED LIKE SHE DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ALL 2006 DURANGOS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE LIFETIME WARRANTY ON PARTS AND REPAIRS LISTED IN TSB 14-001-12. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD VERY WELL RESULT IN FIRE AND DEATH. *TR
EVERY TIME THE CAR IS REFUELED GAS SPILLS FROM THE TANK. IT SHOOTS TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND GETS ON MY HANDS, LEGS, SHOES, SIDE OF CAR AND GROUND. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE. THIS EFFECTS THE ENVIRONMENT, MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS TO COME IN CONTACT WITH THE GAS THAT IS LEFT ALL OVER MY CAR, MYSELF AND THE GROUND. *TR

THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP 12-31-2111 AFTER DRIVING IT TO THE GAS STATION TO FILL IT UP I ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM . THE FUEL PUMP SHUT OFF WHEN THE DURANGO WAS FULL BUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE GAS CAME SPRAYING OUT OF THE TANK BUT THE PUMP WAS OFF . IT SPRAYED GAS ALL OVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ALL OVER ME AND MY CLOTHES IT WAS AWFUL. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES SO FAR AND WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE WE DISCOVERED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TANK THAT CRYSLER/DODGE KNOWS ABOUT IT BUT THERE IS NO RECALL YET FOR THIS YEAR OF THE DURANGO
I FIRST NOTICED A PROBLEM WHEN LEAVING WORK BY SIMPLY UNLOCKING MY 06 DURANGO (ALL WHEEL DRIVE/ 4 WHEEL DRIVE) WITH THE KEY FOB THE TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MOTOR STARTS SHIFTING THE TRUCK IN AND OUT FROM AWD TO 4WD AND I HAVEN'T EVEN OPENED THE DOOR!! AS THE WEEKS PASS IT DOES THIS SEVERAL MORE TIMES BUT WHAT IS MORE UNNERVING IS THAT AS I AM DRIVING AT HWY SPEEDS, 60 TO 70 MPH, OR ANY SPEED REALLY, MY "4 WHEEL LOW" LIGHT ON THE DASH WILL START TO FLICKER AS IF IT IS TRYING TO SHIFT INTO 4 WHEEL LOW UN-COMMANDED. AFTER SEARCHING SEVERAL FORUMS I FIND THIS TO BE A COMMON CHRONIC ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH DURANGOS AND A HUGE SAFETY RISK. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT MAX SPEED FOR A 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE THAT IS IN 4 WHEEL LOW IS ABOUT 10 TO 15 MPH, THE GEAR RATIO IS EXTREMELY LOW AND INTENDED FOR MAXIMUM TRACTION WHEN OFF ROAD. IF THIS VEHICLE SHIFTS INTO 4 WHEEL LOW AT 70 MPH ALL 4 WHEELS WILL COME TO A STOP AND THE DRIVER WILL MOST LIKELY LOOSE TOTAL CONTROL. AT THAT SPEED THIS IS A DANGEROUS COMBINATION. I HAVE READ OF THIS HAPPENING TO DURANGOS WITH SERIOUS DAMAGE AND HUGE EXPENSE FOR THE OWNER. THIS VERY SCENARIO HAPPENED TO A CO-WORKERS WIFE WITH HIS KIDS IN THEIR 06 DURANGO, LUCKILY SHE WAS ONLY TRAVELING AT ABOUT 30 TO 35 MPH AND NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. NOW MY KEY FOB WONT EVEN OPEN THE DOOR, IT ACTS AS IF ITS DEAD OR BROKEN. I HAVE TO USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE TRUCK MANUALLY WHICH SETS OFF THE ALARM EVERY TIME I UNLOCK THE DOOR. THE SAME ELECTRICAL PROBLEM I STARTED WITH IS TIED TO THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE ELECTRICALLY, ANOTHER COMMON CHRONIC PROBLEM. MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER DENIES HAVING ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM OR A FIX AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ DODGE DENIES IT AS WELL. IS IT GOING TO TAKE A FAMILY'S DEATH FROM ONE OF THESE VEHICLES FOR DODGE TO OWN UP TO THIS AND RECOGNIZE THEY HAVE A VERY WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM OVER SEVERAL YEARS MANUFACTURING! *TR
FUEL TANK OVERFLOWS DURING FILL UP. SPILLING TONS OF GAS. BECAUSE OF THE OVERFLOW THERE IS A LOT OF RUST FORMING ON BODY WERE GAS TANK IS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO BODY SHOP TO SEE ABOUT GETTING THE RUST FIXED BUT SAID WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THAT WHOLE AREA BECAUSE RUST ATE THROUGH. TO BE HONEST I THOUGHT I WAS DOING SOMETHING WRONG WHEN FILLING UP AT THE GAS STATION OR SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE PUMP FOR A LONG TIME UNTIL I STARTED RESEARCHING ON INTERNET. I JUST SPOKE TO DODGE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A NEW PROBLEM THAT DODGE JUST EXTENDED THE WARRENTY ON SO WE CAN GET THE FUEL PART FIXED. MY PROBLEM IS THAT WE ALMOST HAVE THIS PAID FOR AND WOULD LIKE TO KEEP FOR A FEW MORE YEARS, HAS LOW MILES, BUT THE RUST AROUND GAS TANK IS BAD. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE SOME HELP FROM DODGE ON GETTING THIS FIXED SINCE IT WAS THEIR FAULT. *TR

I WOULD THINK THE EPA WOULD MAKE DODGE MAKE THIS A MANDATORY RECALL. LUCKILY WHEN I HAD THE VEHICLE IN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALL THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT THEY WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX; THE DEALER DID SAY HE COULD ORDER THE PART TO FIX THAT. IT WOULD BE COVERED AT NO COST TO ME. THEN WHY WASN'T IT RECALLED IF THEY KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM? INTERESTING?! I AM THINKING THAT I MAY NEVER BUY A DODGE AGAIN. I AM SURE THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES ARE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TOO. PLEASE HELP! *TR
THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT COMES ON. THE TRANSFER CASE ENGAGES AND DISENGAGES WHEN THE INTERIOR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN ITS NOT RUNNING. 4WD TURNS ON AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN TURNING AND LOCKS UP THE WHEELS. WHEN THE DASH LIGHT TURNS ON THE 4WD DASH SWITCH DOESN'T WORK. I WAS TOLD ENCODER MOTOR OR SERVO MOTOR OR FRONT CONTROL MODULE. SOUNDS LIKE IT HAPPENS A LOT AND ITS A WIRING PROBLEM. ITS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR OVER 2 YEARS JUST LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT ANSWER. *TR
UPON TURNING INTO PARKING LOT OF LOCAL STORE, CAR SHUT DOWN AND SYSTEM LOCKED UP. NO POWER STEERING AND NO ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO STEER CAR TO PARKING SPACE, STOP AND RESTART VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE IN 2 WEEKS. SAME SCENARIO, GOING SLOW IN PARKING LOT AND VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN. ANOTHER PROBLEM HAS COME UP NOW WHEN AFTER I START THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING, IT SURGES FROM 1000 RPM TO 2000 BACK AND FORTH FOR ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS. MY QUESTIONS FOR THE DURANGO MAKERS IS WHEN WILL THEIR BE A TOTAL RECALL ON THESE SUV'S? *TR
WAS FILLING UP 06 DODGE DURANGO AND FUEL WILL FLOW OUT VIOLENTLY AFTER THE FUEL NOZZLE SHUT OFF WAS ACTIVATED. THERE WAS ABOUT QUART OR MORE FUEL SPLASHED OUT OF THE FUEL NOZZLE OF THE CAR. THERE IS EVEN A RUST SPOT ON THE DRIVER SIDE REAR QUARTER PANEL UNDER THE FUEL NOZZLE ON THE CAR WHERE FUEL HAS EATING AT THE METAL. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND CAN BE DEADLY. THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. *TR
THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE OF FUEL OVERFLOW WITH 2ND GENERATION DODGE DURANGO THAT DODGE REFUSES TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL TO FIX. AT THE CONCLUSION OF REFUELING APPROXIMATELY 0.25 GAL WILL GURGLE TO FORCEFULLY EJECT ITSELF FROM THE FUEL FILLER NECK OF THE DURANGO. SPILLING FUEL EVERY FILL UP IS A PERSONAL SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION CONCERN WHICH NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL WOULD SPILL OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK WHILE REFUELING. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CHECK VALVE FAILED AND ADVISED HIM TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V034000 ( FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP). NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
REPEAT ENGINE LIGHT ALERTS UPON ACCELERATION ABOVE 40 MILES PER HOUR. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE TRUCK ENGINE MISFIRES, IT STARTS JERKING AND BUMPING. I'VE HAD TO SLOW DOWN IN FRONT OF ANGRY TRAFFICKERS BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID THE ENGINE WOULD FAIL COMPLETELY ON THE INTERSTATE. TWICE IN DECEMBER 2011 WITHIN A WEEKS TIME, A COIL WAS REPLACED AND ALL 6 SPARK PLUGS, DUE TO CRACKING AND CORROSION. AGAIN IN 2012, THE TRUCK BEGAN MISFIRING, AND MULTIPLE COILS ARE CORRODED, AND AGAIN- ALL 6 SPARK PLUGS ARE AS WELL. UPON RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND A NUMBER OF CHAT SITES WITH ANGRY DODGE OWNERS WHO HAVE BEEN ALERTED TO THE BULLETIN POSTED BY COMPANY ABOUT THE FAULTY COWL, WHICH BY POOR DESIGN LEAKS WATER ONTO THE ENGINE. I AM NOW FACED WITH REPLACING ALL THE CYLINDERS, AND REPLACING THE FAULTY COWL WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED COWL/ PINS. LABOR AND PARTS COULD RUN INTO THE THOUSANDS EASILY. OTHER ISSUES I HAVE FACED SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE SECOND HAND IN SEPTEMBER 2011 INCLUDE WIRING ISSUES: HEADLAMPS FAIL, AND HORN HONKS WHEN LIGHTS ARE TURN ON. LEFT TURN SIGNAL SIGNALS RIGHT, AND RIGHT TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. DRIVERS POWER WINDOW INTERMITTENTLY STOPS FUNCTIONING. DOME LAMP WILL NOT TURN OFF AT TIMES. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY, AND DODGE IS LOWEST ON MY LIST FOR MY NEXT VEHICLE PURCHASE. *TR
MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO SLT OVER FILLS EVERY TIME IT IS FILLED UP. GAS WILL SHOOT OUT 12-15 INCHES IN ALL DIRECTIONS SOMETIMES. THIS STARTED HAPPENING AT AROUND 60 THOUSAND MILES. *TR
WENT TO FILL DURANGO UP TWO DAYS AFTER PURCHASED USED. THE PUMP SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY AND SPRAYED APPROX. ONE LITER OF GAS ON MY HAND, SLEEVE, RIGHT LEG, RIGHT SHOE, AND THE FENDER/BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND THERE IS NO WARNING FROM DODGE THAT THIS MAY OCCUR. THIS WAS A RECALL ON 2005'S AND DODGE REPRESENTATIVES TOLD ME WHEN I ASKED ABOUT AN ASSIST, "IF IT WAS A RECALL BEFORE AND ISN'T NOW, THE ISSUES WOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE". WHEN THE GAS TANK REACHES FULL OR NEARLY FULL THE FUEL "BURPS" OUT SPILLING A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL TO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ON THE GROUND. THIS IS NEARLY 100% OF THE TIME. THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY THE FUEL TANK INLET CHECK VALVE NOT CLOSING PROPERLY THIS CREATES A RISK OF FIRE AND IS LIKELY THE SAME ISSUE AS THE 2005 DURANGO THAT HAS A RECALL FOR THIS REASON. *JB
WHEN FILLING UP WITH GASOLINE, UPON THE FUEL PUMP TURNING OFF, THE DURANGO'S FUEL TANK WILL SPRAY GASOLINE BACK OUT TO THE INDIVIDUAL FILLING UP, AND LEAK FUEL ALL OVER THE VEHICLE AND GROUND. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP, REGARDLESS OF FILLING STATION. THIS IS DOCUMENTED IN COUNTLESS FORUMS AND VIDEOS ONLINE. THE 2005 DURANGO HAS A RECALL FOR THIS AS DODGE RECOGNIZED THE RISK OF A VEHICLE OR FUEL STATION FIRE. THIS IS DANGEROUS, EASILY REPEATABLE, AND TERRIBLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. I BOUGHT MY DURANGO "USED" FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND THE FIRST TIME I FILLED THE TANK UP, GAS WENT EVERYWHERE. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE GAS STATION BUT THE TIME AFTER THAT, WHEN I FILLED UP- I DID IT SLOWLY AND IT STILL OVERFILLED AND SPILLED EVERYWHERE. DURING FUELING OPERATIONS THE VEHICLES FUEL TANK WAS ALMOST FULL WHICH TRIGGERED THE FUEL PUMP TO SHUT OFF, AND THEN IMMEDIATELY FUEL BEGAN RUSHING OUT OF THE FUELING NOZZLE OF THE VEHICLE GETTING ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, MY HAND, FOOT AND THE GROUND. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN 60 TIMES SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE IN 2006, AND NOW HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK TO FULL. THERE WAS A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 DURANGO THAT JUSTIFIED A RECALL, AND THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS WITH THE 2006, ALTHOUGH THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL. I HOPE THAT IT DOESN'T TAKE A MAJOR INCIDENT, FIRE OR DEATH BEFORE CHRYSLER TAKES THIS SERIOUSLY AND DOES THE RIGHT TYHING BY REPAIRING THE BAD VALVE IN THESE TANKS. *TR
EXHAUST STARTED TICKING AND UPON INVESTIGATING FOUND 2 REAR MANIFOLD BOLTS BROKEN OFF ALLOWING EXHAUST FUMES TO LEAK INTO ENGINE COMPARTMENT. TALKED TO DODGE DEALER AND FOUND IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. *KB
I HAVE A 5.7 HEMI AND THE PROBLEM JUST STARTED WITH FUEL SPLASHING OUT AFTER A FILL UP, PUMP CLICKS OFF, REMOVE THE FUEL NOZZLE AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE FUEL FILL GAS SHOOTS OUT AND ALL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V092000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT PANEL), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF REPAIRING THE VEHICLE AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
FUEL SPEWS OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER TUBE AFTER THE AUTOMATIC FUEL SHUTOFF STOPS FUEL FLOW INTO THE TANK. THERE IS A ONE OR TWO SECOND LAG BEFORE THE FUEL SPEWS OUT AFTER SHUTOFF. FUEL SPILLS ONTO THE CAR, THE GROUND AND THE PERSON FILLING THE TANK IF THEY HAPPEN TO BE REMOVING THE PUMP NOZZLE AT THAT MOMENT. THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED WITH EACH SUCCESSIVE FILLUP SINCE THE INITIAL INCIDENT. *TR
I HAVE FILLED UP MY VEHICLE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED. EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP THE GAS TANK BUBBLES AND IS SHOOTS A DECENT AMOUNT OF GAS OUT OF THE TANK ONTO THE GROUND AND DOWN THE SIDE OF MY CAR. THIS CAUSES MY CAR TO SMELL LIKE GASOLINE AND LEAVES A PUDDLE OF APPROX 1 CUP OF GAS ON THE GROUND. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A PARTICULAR GAS STATIONS NOZZLE, BUT AFTER GOING TO MULTIPLE DIFFERENT STATIONS, I HAVE ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED DODGE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BUT I WILL BE SOON.
