TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO 4X4 LIMITED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN REFUELING, GASOLINE WOULD SPILL FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE DETERMINED MALFUNCTION WAS A FAULTY FUEL CHECK VALVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. ..UPDATED 04-29-14 *BF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER ADDING GASOLINE TO THE FUEL TANK, IT SPEW OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL VAPOR VALVE WAS DEFECTIVE, AS A RESULT THE GASOLINE TANK AND FUEL LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL CAUSING IT'S SPEED TO INCREASE RESULTING IN CRASH INTO A FIXED STRUCTURE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2007 AND AFTER NEARLY 2 YEARS IN APRIL 2009 THE GAS PEDAL BEGAN TO STICK AND MAKE A CLICKING NOISE. THE DODGE DEALER FOUND THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE ENTIRE PEDAL ASSEMBLY UNDER WARRANTY. NEARLY IN THE SAME TIME PERIOD AGAIN 2 YEARS LATER IN 2011, THE GAS PEDAL APPARENTLY STUCK AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR

THE DODGE DEALER FOUND THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE ENTIRE PEDAL ASSEMBLY UNDER WARRANTY. NEARLY IN THE SAME TIME PERIOD AGAIN 2+ YEARS LATER IN NOV. 2011, THE GAS PEDAL APPARENTLY STUCK AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED VEHICLE. AT ABOUT 45,000 MILES WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK AT ANY GAS STATION AND LETTING IF FILL UP TO THE AUTOMATIC CUT-OFF, GAS SPILLS OUT WITH GREAT FORCE RIGHT AFTER THE PUMPS AUTO CUT-OFF. IT SPURTED AS FAR OUT AS ABOUT 2-3 FEET FROM THE CAR AND THEN CONTINUES TO COME OUT AND GO DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAR. I WOULD ESTIMATE THAT THERE IS PROBABLY AT LEAST 8-12 OUNCES OF FUEL SPILLAGE EVERYTIME THIS HAPPENS. THIS IS A FIRE, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING FROM DOING RESEARCH THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM IN CHRYSLER VEHICLES. MANY YEARS 2005-2009 DURANGOS, JEEP WRANGLERS, AND JEEP CHEROKEES. IT IS CLEAR THAT CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO PUT FAULTY FILLER TUBES AND GAS TANKS ON THEIR VEHICLES EVEN AFTER THEY KNEW THEY HAD A PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN OVER 200 COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON VARIOUS MODEL YEARS OF DURANGO'S JUST IN THIS PAST YEAR. CHRYSLER GIVES THE RUN AROUND EXPECTING PEOPLE TO PAY ANYWHERE FROM $200-$1500 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE FIXED BY THEM FOR FAULTY EQUIPMENT. THERE ARE ALSO PLENTY OF VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET SHOWING THIS PROBLEM. I URGE YOU TO OPEN AN INVESTIGATION ON THE 2007 DURANGO AND OTHER MODELS AND INSTITUTE A RECALL TO FORCE CHRYSLER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. YOU ALL INVESTIGATED TOYOTA ONLY AFTER 32 COMPLAINTS WHICH ENDED UP BEING MORE USER ERROR THAN ANYTHING. I KNOW THAT NHTSA HAS GOT A LOT MORE THAN 32 COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE. PLEASE BE CONSISTENT WITH YOUR INVESTIGATIONS AND START ONE FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I OWN A 2007 DURANGO. ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT WHEN FUELING UP, WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL, GAS WAS BLOWING OUT OF THE FILL VALVE WHILE THE GAS NOZZLE WAS STILL IN THE FILL VALVE. I TALKED TO THE DEALER ABOUT IT, BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER BASICALLY BLEW ME OFF, LIKE IT WAS MY FAULT. I STARTED WATCHING WHETHER THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK UPON FILLING UP MATTERED--IT DID NOT. THE FUEL WOULD SPILL OUT NO MATTER IF THE TANK WAS ON EMPTY, 1/4 FULL, 1/2 OR 3/4 FULL. I TRIED FUELING UP FIRST THING IN THE MORNING THINKING HEAT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT--IT DIDN'T THE FUEL STILL SPEWED OUT. THESE THINGS WERE TRIED AS A RESULT OF STATEMENTS MADE BY THE SERVICE MANAGER. *TR
FUEL SPRAYS OUT OF FILL HOLE WHEN TANK IS FILLED AND PUMP SHUTS OFF. THIS HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS, AND I JUST LEARNED THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM TO DODGE VEHICLES. TO CORRECT, I NEVER FILL THE VEHICLE UP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO WITH MOPAR VALVE STEMS, SERIAL NUMBER: 881F6D3C PART NUMBER: 1-560294658B. THE TIRE MECHANIC WAS REPAIRING THE FLAT TIRE WHICH RESULTED FROM A DEFECTIVE VALVE STEM. HE STATED THAT THERE IS A SENSOR INSIDE THE WHEEL WITH AN ALUMINUM VALVE STEM WHICH DETERIORATED. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE CORE IS MADE OUT OF THE INCORRECT TYPE OF METAL. EACH VALVE STEM COST $52.00 PER TIRE. THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VALVE STEM. THE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH AND TOWING AN RV, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE CAME OFF OF THE RIM. THE VEHICLE AND THE RV WERE DESTROYED. THE TIRES WERE INSPECTED AND A TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THEY WERE 2-PLY SIDEWALL TIRES, WHICH COULD ONLY SUPPORT 1,300 LBS, ALTHOUGH THE MANUFACTURED ADVERTISED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD TOW 10,000 LBS. THEREFORE, THE TIRES THAT WERE PLACED ON THE VEHICLE WERE MEANT FOR LIGHT PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 12,000. UPDATED 09/16/08. *LJ UPDATED 09/18/08. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE PULLING INTO A TIRE SHOP PARKING LOT, THE CONTACT'S FOOT SLIPPED OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ONTO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE DROVE INTO THE TIRE SHOP WALL AND THROUGH THE SHOWROOM FLOOR. AN EMPLOYEE SUSTAINED A BROKEN LEG. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS WERE TOO CLOSE AND SHOULD BE SPACED APART. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN AROUND A CURVE, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. SHE HAD TO WAIT A MINUTE OR TWO FOR THE STEERING WHEEL TO UNLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO INSTRUCTED HER TO LOOK IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND CALL THE NUMBERS LISTED REGARDING RECALL INFORMATION. THE VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V386000 (STEERING). THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,331 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,831. UPDATED 06/16/08 *BF
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER EIGHT TIMES. WHEN SLOWING THE VEHICLE DOWN, THE BRAKES BECAME SOFT AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND THE DIAGNOSTIC DID NOT PRODUCE ANY ERROR CODES. THE FAILURE OCCURS AT RANDOM. DURING THE FIRST VISIT TO THE DEALER, THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR THREE DAYS AND FOUND NO FAILURES. DURING THE SECOND VISIT, THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 13 DAYS AND STILL FOUND NO FAILURES. I BOUGHT A CAR "DODGE DURANGO LIMITED" FROM DODGE DEALER "UNITED MOTORS" IN RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA BACK IN OCT 29TH , 2007. THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR STARTED SINCE I BOUGHT IT. SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR, I STARTED TO FEEL VIBRATIONS IN AT THE STEERING AND A HIGH PITCH SOUND AT THE FRONT TO THE DEGREE THAT I COULD NOT WAIT FOR THE 5000 KM MAINTENANCE AND I NEEDED TO TAKE IT AT THE 3500 KM FOR FIXING THIS PROBLEM. THE OTHER PROBLEM WAS THAT THE REAR WINDOW DRIVER'S SWITCH WAS NOT WORKING. THE REPORT FROM MAINTENANCE WAS THE NEED FOR WHEEL BALANCE AND THEY SAID THAT THEY FIXED IT, SOFTWARE UPGRADE DONE FOR THE SOUND, BUT THEY APOLOGIZED ABOUT THE REAR WINDOW WITH NO FURTHER ACTION. AFTER RECEIVING THE CAR I STILL HAD THE PROBLEM OF VIBRATION BUT I BROUGHT IT AGAIN AT THE 5000 KM FOR THE GENERAL MAINTENANCE AND THE SAME PROBLEM OF VIBRATION. THIS TIME THE DEALER PROVIDED ME WITH A LETTER TO GOODYEAR TIRES AS AN EXPERT OPINION. THE GOODYEAR DEALER PROVIDED ME WITH A REPORT (ATTACHED) THAT THE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE WITH FLAT SPOTS DUE TO STORAGE, NEED TO BE CHANGED AND ADVISED TO GET AND APPROVAL FROM DODGE DEALERSHIP. FIRST, I MET WITH MR. ALI M. RADAIDEH AND HIS WORDS WERE AS FOLLOWS: "WE DO NOT TAKE THE WORDS OF GOODYEAR DEALERSHIP AND WE HAVE TO MAKE OUR OWN INVESTIGATION" THIS WAS ALREADY DONE AND THEY TRIED THEIR BEST TWICE. "YOUR TIRES ARE SAFE AND CAN BE DRIVEN FOR EVEN ONE YEAR". THIS CONFLICTS WITH THE WORDS OF GOODYEAR DEALERSHIP AND REALLY ENDANGERS ME AND MY FAMILY'S SAFETY. AT THIS POINT, I NEEDED TO ESCALATE TO THE GENERAL MANAGER, "MR. FAISAL ALJAMAAN" WITH THE FOLLOWING WORDS AND BEHAVIOR: "DODGE AND GOODYEAR ARE POINTING FINGERS TO EACH OTHER AND YOU NEED TO WAIT TILL WE RESOLVE THIS". HE THREATENED ME" TO LOSE A LOT OF MONEY" WHEN I MENTIONED THE OPTION OF RETURNING THE CAR. *TR THANK YOU AND BEST REGARDS *TR
I HAD BEEN NOTICING THAT WHEN I WOULD FILL UP MY DURANGO, WHEN IT GOT TO THE TOP, IT WOULD SPILL OUT ALL OVER MY CAR AND ON THE GROUND. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A FLUKE BUT IT HAS CONTINUED TO DO SO. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ALL THEY TOLD ME WAS THAT THEY WOULD JUST HAVE TO LOOK AT IT TO DISCOVER WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I THEN TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS VERY THING AND ADVISED ME TO CALL THE NUMBER LISTED 1-800-853-1403. I WAS TOLD BY THE PERSON ON THE ON THE OTHER END THAT MY DURANGO WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. I PROCEEDED TO TELL HER EVEN THOUGH WHEN THIS VERY RECALL IS EXACTLY WHAT MY CAR IS DOING AND IT IS A 2005 MODEL. SHE SAID NO. WELL I AM NOW HAVING TO HAVE THIS SAME RECALL ISSUE FIXED AND PAID FOR OUT OF MY OWN POCKET BECAUSE YOU DON'T BELIEVE MY MECHANIC. HE WILL BE SUBMITTING THIS ON THE BILL AS TO WHAT HE HAD TO DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I TRIED DOING THIS THE NICE WAY BUT NO ONE ON THE OTHER END WOULD LISTEN. GO FIGURE. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2007 DODGE DURANGO ON 9/21/07 FROM HATCH MOTOR COMPANY IN SNOWFLAKE, AZ. I HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 1 1/2 WEEKS WHEN IT STARTED GIVING ME PROBLEMS AND I REPORTED IT TO THE COMPANY AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN. THE GAS GAUGE, HAZARD LIGHTS, SIGNAL LIGHTS, HIGH AND LOW BEAM LIGHTS WENT OUT. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN, THEY CHECKED IT AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE CLUSTER BOX AND THEY HAD TO ORDER A NEW ONE. I ASKED THEM IF THEY COULD PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE HOME. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ME ONE UNLESS I PURCHASED THE "CHRYSLER CONTRACT" OR UNLESS I PAID FOR ONE. I DID NOT HAVE ANY MONEY AT THE TIME BECAUSE I HAD TO MAKE A DOWN PAYMENT FOR THE VEHICLE. I EXPLAINED MY SITUATION TO THEM AND THEY STILL WOULD NOT PROVIDE ONE FOR ME. THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. I HAD TO DRIVE MY TRUCK BACK HOME WHICH IS OVER 250 MILES IN THE DARK WITH MY THREE CHILDREN. THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME IN ANY WAY. I THOUGHT I WOULD REPORT THIS TO YOU DUE TO THE SERIOUS HAZARD AND THEY LET ME DRIVE IT HOME. *TR
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW AND NOTICED WITHIN THE FIRST 1000 MILES WHEN FILLING UP AND USING THE AUTO SHUT OFF, GAS WOULD SPILL OUT OF THE TANK ON THE SIDE OF THE CAR. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE PUMP ITSELF AND TRIED OTHERS. I WAS TOLD BY LOCAL DODGE DEALER THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS WOULD EVER COME ON INDICATING AN ISSUE. MY FUEL CAP HAS BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES BUT I CAN'T USE AUTO SHUTOFF ANY MORE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I'VE GOTTEN USE TO NOT FILLING UP BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD BY OTHERS THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS. I HAVE A 2007 DODGE AND THE SEATS ARE DEFECTED. THEY STAIN EVEN WITH WATER. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SHIP SEVERAL TIME AND FINALLY WE HAVE CAME TO A RESOLUTION. SHE REACHED INSIDE TO CUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND AS SOON AS SHE REMOVED THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF GEAR AND BEGAN TO ROLL BACK. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR THREW THE CONTACT TO THE GROUND. THE FRONT TIRE RAN OVER THE CONTACT'S LEFT LEG. THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND STOPPED. SHE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER LEFT LEG. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
SPARE WHEEL AND TIRE ARE DIFFERENT SIZE (SMALLER) THAN THE WHEELS/TIRES ON THE GROUND. CAR PURCHASED WITH "FULL SIZE SPARE" SPECIFIED. DEALER AND CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE SAY "THE SPARE YOU HAVE IS WHAT THE SPECS SAY ARE STANDARD". THEY ALSO SAY, "IT'S ONLY A SPARE". THIS FULL-TIME 4WD CAR CONTAINS MANY WARNINGS ABOUT KEEPING ALL TIRES SAME INFLATION, SIZE, TYPE, ETC. TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE SAME PROBLEM WITH LIGHT TRUCKS OCCURRED, CHRYSLER BEGAN SHIPPING SPARE SAME SIZE AS TIRES ON THE GROUND. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT'S FOOT SLIPPED OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND PREVENTED HIM FROM APPLYING THE BRAKES IN TIME. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 700 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS AT ANY SPEED, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD VIOLENTLY WOBBLE. THE FAILURES WOULD LAST FOR A FEW MOMENTS BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD REGAIN CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IN WHICH THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND CRUISE CONTROL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WHEEL SENSOR WAS FAULTY, HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT MAKE A REPLACEMENT. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER, WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND CRASHED INTO THE GUARDRAIL. THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE WET. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISES TO HIS LEFT SHOULDER AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISES ALL OVER, INCLUDING A SORE BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,100.
1. PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW GOES DOWN BY ITSELF WHEN DRIVING AS THOUGH SOMEONE HAS PUSHED THE AUTO DOWN CONTROL - BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES TO BE FIXED. THEY SAID THEY RESET THE CONTROLS. IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. I AM NOW ALSO EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE. THE CAR STARTS BACKING UP THEN THE GOES INTO NEUTRAL AUTOMATICALLY. *JB
IT APPEARS IN WARM WEATHER, THE SIGNALING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS. THEY WILL NOT FUNCTION FOR LEFT OR RIGHT SIGNALS AND HAZARD LIGHTS DO NOT OPERATE. WHEN YOU PLACED THE SIGNAL ON IT CLICKS VERY QUICKLY AND SOUNDS AS IF SOMETHING IS FRYING, THEN IT SHUTS OFF. WHEN YOU TRY THE SIGNAL AGAIN, IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 DODGE DURANGO BOUGHT 3/7/07, AND ON DATE 4/4/07 BEEN IN SHOP TWICE FOR STEERING ISSUES AND THEY HAVE BOTH TIMES SAID NOTHING IS WRONG. THE DURANGO ALSO HAS IDLE ISSUE AND HARMONIC BALANCE ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING I HAVE TO KEEP STEERING TO THE LEFT IN ORDER TO STAY STRAIGHT, TURN TO RIGHT NOT EVEN HALF INCH AND YOU ARE IN THE OTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC. GO AROUND CURVE AT 35 TO 45 MPH AND YOU FEEL LIKE TIRES ARE GOING TO FALL OFF. DEALER SHIP HAS ON BOTH OCCASIONS IN SHOP SAID NOTHING WRONG. THERE IS A RECALL ON STEERING HOWEVER MINE WASN'T INCLUDED. VERY HARD TO MAINTAIN OWN LANE WHEN DRIVING. NOTHING HAS CORRECTED. A BACK TIRE WAS REPLACED ON 4-2-07 DEALER CHECKED DROVE AND DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING. *AK
