The headrest restraint system popped the headrest into the back of the passengers head while driving under normal conditions.
Active headrest restraint deployed unexpectedly. Wife was driving down the highway and got onto the rumble strip for 50 feet or so and the drivers side headrest deployed hitting her in the back of the head. She's got a stiff neck now. I called the dealership and there's no recall for this even though it's been under investigation for 2.5 years. What gives? Someone is going to be seriously injured one of these days
Vehicle battery dies due to lights staying on after shutting vehicle off, i have been jump starting it so i can drive it but lately the car is acting up and turn off on me while driving on the freeway. I have read online that some dodge vehicle have te same issue related to the body control module.
Wife coming home from work around midnight on 03/24/2022. 2014 Durango suddenly started to not respond to throttle, and dash showed low voltage and stop running. After jumpstarting Durango shows only 10v on display and confirmed with voltmeter at alternator. entered my vin for recalls and it shows none open. She had just turned off major a major 4 lane state hwy and that is when it died. If it had died in middle of turn she would have been in a major accident. Durango was driven at 10 mph due to engine derating, with no light on and all acc turned off made it home lucky to have only been 1 mile from home and on neighborhood street. Inspection will have to be done at my home, Durango will not start. Cant afford tow bill I am on Disability and a fixed income. Low voltage light came on just as she crossed two lanes of traffic and stared on neighborhood street. This car is used to take me to doctors appointments at my Heart Specialist, wife to work and daily driver. Durango has 153000 miles. This is the first time it has happened
My 2014 Dodge Durango SXT RWD alternator stopped working. Was on the way home on 03/24/2022 that night and was driving on 4 lane state hwy. when all of a sudden it started to cut out and the low voltage light appeared on display. I had no choice but to stop in the turning lane right before it quit running. Tried to restart and it just clicked, and dash display disappeared. Had to engage park override and manually push Durango across two lanes of oncoming traffic, luckily two men stopped to help me push it and helped stop traffic so we would not have to stop when we got it rolling. once we had it on side street I tried to restart once again, and it just clicked. Used a battery booster box to jumpstart it and with box on it would run, with box taken off it would run till battery lost voltage and engine will stop running. Luck I was only about 2 miles from my home and the men who stopped and helped pull me the rest of the way home using a tow strap. The Durango is in my driveway and will not start and run to take anywhere to be diagnosed. Dodge told me if the vin didn't show a recall, I'd have to pay the tow bill up front and if it did turn out to be a defective alternator, I can send the tow bill in for reimbursement. (I am Disabled and can't afford a tow truck to tow it 15 miles to nearest dealership.) The only time any warning lamps came on was just before it stopped running as I was getting in turn lane. Durango has run fine Purchased 01/19/2022 and second owner and have put only 2400 miles on it since I got it. Even took to North Central Arkansas and back to Odessa Tx in late Jan 2022 with no issues. This Alternator Part# 04801779AG was in a recall for the 2014 Durangos with a 3.6l engine recall # 14v-634 and was revised with 17v-741 I am attaching a pic of alternator part number that is still on My Durango. This s my only vehicle and use it to make Heart Specialist appointments and run earns as needed, so can't be without it very long.
the taillight has been getting water inside and there is no way for the water to get out. The water is taking my LED's. this should be a defect on Dodge since they made it. I speak on the other dodge owners that this needs to be fixed or recalled on this issue.
The contact's wife owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while his daughter was driving 65-70 MPH, she heard a loud popping sound. The contact's daughter veered to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle but could not determine the cause of the popping sound. Upon returning inside the vehicle, the contact's daughter noticed that the front passenger's side headrest had independently deployed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact's daughter continued to drive the vehicle. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
The moonroof of the car spontaneously exploded as we were driving down the interstate. There was no incident that caused this...nothing struck our car, we did not go over any bumps or anything like that. There was a very loud explosion sound and the glass shattered into hundreds of pieces. Thank god we had the sunshade closed at the time. Our children were riding in the second row and would have had glass fly at them at 75 miles an hour. It was an incredibly scary incident. We looked this up and it seems to be a known problem with many cars with moonroofs, yet no one seems to be doing anything about it. This glass needs to be tempered like the windshield! We are in the process of getting it repaired at the dealership yet. They are not taking any responsibility for it being a defect and are charging us the full amount to have it replaced. $1600. I
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle made abnormally loud popping sounds. The contact stated that the popping sounds were coming from the rear end of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000. The VIN was not available.
Head rest deployed outside of “extended warranty “ its a safety hazard. This part should be total recalled. The rear passenger door latch gets stuck or pops open randomly. It will not close when this happens and it has come open upon locking and driving! Again dangerous where children sit. This is with child lock on or off the problem continues. The third complaint is the seat belts will not retract in the front seat but the dealership requires me to pay a fee to have it assessed. This is a “recalled”issue but it isn't for my vin These three things seem to all fall shortly after buying the vehicle within the last four yrs. Exact dates unknown.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while the vehicle was at the car wash, she noticed that water was leaking from the corners of the sunroof onto the headliner and the front driver's side and front passenger's side door panels. Active headrest system popped without accident
Passenger side seat belt fails to retract preventing proper utilization of the seat belt, limiting the effectiveness of the restraint device.
2014 Dodge Durango R/T- water pooled in the drivers side rear light, causing the LED's to short out. I called the dealership and it is well over a thousand dollars to replace this. Currently only operating with the passenger side light which is a huge problem in the state of MI. No warning lamps appeared... I noticed it after a car wash.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH, the low battery voltage and low battery warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over and the vehicle was jumpstarted. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V435000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that on several occasions, the mounting bolt used to hold the liftgate open failed to operate as needed, causing the liftgate to slam down unintendedly. The contact stated that he replaced the mounting bolt himself; however, the failure recurred. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. The VIN was not available.
Water gets into track lights, short circuiting entire tailgate lighting including license plate light, back up camera, and tailgate panel lighting.
The rear racetrack light on the lift gate, right side leaks when it rains, car wash, snow and has shorted out part of the light strip.
The driver’s seatbelt will not retract. Should I get into an accident or need to slam on my brakes, by seatbelt will not lock in place as it should. Due to this malfunction. This is a serious safety issue! Seatbelts are suppose to save lives, but how can it, if it’s not working properly?!?!? I contacted Chrysler/Dodge regarding this, they told me there was no recall. Which is shocking, since there have been other complaints regarding the same issue. I was told to have it diagnosed by a car dealership then it would be fixed. Not sure if I would be reimbursed for the cost of repairs or how that’s suppose to work. But are they also going to pay for my lost day of work wages, to take it into the repair shop?! Then to take it back for the repairs? I highly doubt that. I believe something this concerning should’ve already been deemed a safety recall.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, there was a knocking sound coming from the engine. The knocking had increased over time. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the lifters, camshaft, and valve cover needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that the front windshield lining was cracked which caused water to seep into the glove compartment. Additionally, the exterior tailgate door lights were inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty since 2018. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Randomly car will flash shifter issue, brake issues, no bus, and many others. Wipers will then turn on and will go off by beeping horn. Then dash goes black. Sometimes during these frequent episodes transmission won’t shift out of low gear. Turn car off and it’s dead. Randomly restarts and acts normal for a bit. A month ago fuel pump went and paid $800 to repair. Been happening for a year. Today car is dead in driveway but randomly wipers began moving. Beep horn turns wipers off. This car is not right. Chrysler needs to be accountable and recall the TIPM box in these vehicle.
Passenger headrest restraint popped open while driving down the road.
The power liftgate strut broke off at the mounting stud causing the liftgate to slam down uncontrolled. This could easily cause injury especially to a child.
The taillight assembly leaks and fills up with water. It is available for inspection. The taillight shorts out and does not work. The potential of being rear ended is very high; threatening the lives of those in the car and those in the car behind it. Many other Dodge Durango owners have the same problem. The car has not been inspected by others. No warning lamps or symptoms. But every time it rains it is best to loosen the taillight assembly to drain as much water as possibly to prevent the malfunction again.
Driver seat headrest deployed while the vehicle was parked. No one inside.
The headrest deployed without warning on the passenger seat.
Front passenger’s headrest airbag deployed while parked. Nothing hit us, my daughter was in the seat.
The headrest deployed and has a broken pin and I am unable to put it back in place.
Driver side third row seat belt will not retract. It came out and stayed out all of the way. It is unusable . I've tried everything to get it to go back in.
Headrest popped while sitting parked
The power lift gate failed and I was hit pretty hard. Would have been worse if it was my wife or kids and probably would have been more than an bruise and being sore. The “special stud” that connects the power rod to the body of the Durango broke off. Part of the bolt is still in the body in the threads and the other part is still connected to the power lift. It than created issues to even close the door and be able to drive without the hatch open. The parts are on order and will in next week to see if it can be repaired. Currently the door is not usable and the power lift rod had to be disconnected to stop further damage to the body of the vehicle. Door will not stay open and the dealer is unsure if they can get the broken part of the bolt out to complete the repair.
Passenger side head rest sprung apart while driving down the road. Hit passenger in the back of the head.
The front passenger and third row passenger seat belts are locked and unusable. I can't have anyone sit in the front seat as it is locked at a position that it will not click in and will just dangle. The third row passenger seat belt also will not retract or come out.
While driving down a smooth paved road approximately 40 mph, the passenger side headrest deployed for no reason. My 13yr old son was sitting in the seat and the headrest hit him in the head causing a headache and possible concussion. I'm submitting this just minutes after the incident and have not had it assessed or repaired. There were no warning lights displayed when this occurred. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
Water in center section of factory brake lamp assembly. This causes less to burn out and are not replaceable bulbs. Only fox is to replace the light completely.
*2nd reporting of same issue* Intermittent failure to start/stopping occurring again. Fuel pump and TIPM was replaced and issue is still occurring about 8 months later. 2011-2013 durangos had a recall for this issue. I believe the 2014s should be included as well. This is very dangerous and a safety hazard should vehicle stalls and unable to start.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph when the driver's headrest suddenly detached and exploded from the driver seat. I bought this vehicle brand new. Many issues right from the start. Right off the bat the vehicle would randomly accelerate while driving or just stall while on the highway. I had a wreck when the car was less than 3 months old. I stepped on the break and the car accelerated into on coming traffic and I hit a vehicle. I took it into the dealership many times reporting this problem to the service techs and they dismissed it that my car was "learning me" and was not "broken in" yet. Along with engine ticking and engine lights coming on I have had so many issues with this vehicle.
Drivers seat belt won't retract
Screen on center console gets extremely hot to the touch when car is running. Purchased the car 10 days ago and reported the issue to the dealer we purchased it from. Dealer arranged for the car to be taken in to one of their authorized dealers in the auto nation group which is closer to our home. Dealer was able to duplicate and stated the temperature registered at 120 degrees on the console and recommended replacing the head unit. This unit is overheating and causing the radio to short along with other buttons on the display to not work when pressed. Dealer we purchased from said they would take care of the issue then turned around and said the limited warranty will not cover this. This is extremely dangerous and could catch fire.
While stopped at a red light, the headrest exploded and hit me in the back of the head. The soft part popped forward with force away from the hard plastic back.
The second and third row seat belts have cracks like the recall to the front driver and passenger side seat belts. Dealer said current recall does not include the other rows and it is dangerous for both children, car seats and adults when riding as passengers. Cost just for the third row is quoted at $1,300. I have 2 daughters that I do not feel Safe in the car in the event of an accident.
Active Head Restraints on passenger side deployed without collision. An internal plastic part is broken.
I am having starting issues, combined with stalling when it full power or even partial. I reviewed the recalls that were listed for this era vehicle. And it lines up with the fuel relay or fuse I can't remember which one it was that was happening on similar makes models and this year. I believe this should be involved in that recall, but it's not showing that it is.
While driving approximately 40mph the safety system in the passenger headrest exploded and hit my wife in the head.
The “service shifter” warning comes on and the gears begin to change on their own. This happen out of the blue and while driving the vehicle. Other dash board issues then come on and the car begins to say to service just about everything and then turns off the dash.
Passenger headrest exploded (popped open) while parked.
In October 2014, a recall was called for some 2014 Dodge Durangos and Jeep Grand Cherokees because a electrical issue where the air bag light intermittently comes on and turns off repeatedly. My vehicle was not included but it is having the same issue which almost seems like a short in wiring. This is an issue that widely discussed in the Durango chat as other people are told as well that their 2014 is not included but they have the same issue.
