HEADLIGHT FAILURE. *TR
WHEN STARTING MY CAR, THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS COME ON, HOWEVER ONLY THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT WORKS. WHEN I TURN ON THE LIGHTS THE PASSENGER LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE DRIVER SIDE REMAINS OFF. WHEN I TURN MY LIGHTS ONTO A BRIGHT SETTING, THE DRIVER SIDE LIGHTS WORK AND THE PASSENGER SIDE GOES OUT. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH HEADLIGHTS AND THIS STILL OCCURS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND HAVE NOTICED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. BECAUSE LIGHTS ARE A SAFETY ISSUE, I STRONGLY BELIEVE DAIMLER-CHRYSTLER MUST DO A SAFETY RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY, PARTICULARLY ON TURNS. TALKED WITH LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AND HIS ASSESSMENT POINTED TO THE CLOCKSPRING. RESEARCHED ON INTERNET AND IT CERTAINLY APPEARS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS ITEM. DEALER INDICATED IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTIES OR RECALL AND WOULD COST IN EXCESS OF $200 TO REPLACE. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND SHOULD BE REPLACED AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER. NO ACCIDENTS OR ADVERSE EFFECTS ENCOUNTERED TO DATE. *TR
I BOUGHT A USED 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. ALL THE LIGHTS CONSTANTLY FLICKER LIKE A CANDLE IN THE WIND. THIS INCLUDED THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS. THIS IS ANNOYING AT BEST. THE DEALER SAYS THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT. I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE 800,000 CARAVANS JUST LIKE MINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ACCORDING TO YOUR WEBSITE. I BELIEVE THE CARS COMPUTER MAY BE FAULTY WHICH IS WHY CHRYSLER SAYS THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. DRIVING WITH CONSTANTLY DIMMING HEADLIGHTS IS EXTREMELY FATIGUING ON A PERSONS EYES. *TR

AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY MODEL BUT ONLY UP TO YEAR 2000(FIGURES). MECHANIC REPLACED "CLOCKSPRING" BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS. MECHANIC SAID IF LIGHT ON DURING AN IMPACT, AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. I SUPPOSE SOMEONE MUST DIE OR FILE SUIT BEFORE ANYTHING IS DONE FOR ALL OF US 2001 CARAVAN OWNERS. A RECALL TO FIX THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE CONSIDERED / INSTITUTED! *TR
METAL COOLANT LINES GOING TO REAR HEATER FAILED. COMPLETELY ROTTED/RUSTED OUT ($470 IN PARTS/LABOR, PART WAS $200). VEHICLE HAD 116K MILES ON IT. PART WAS REPLACE WITH NEW DESIGN COOLANT LINES. *JB
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2001 DODGE CARAVAN FROM A BUY HERE PAY HERE DEALER. I RAN A CARFAX REPORT AND SAID IT CAME INTO SOUTH CAROLINA 5/28 2007 WITH 70743MILES ON IT THE DEALER WHO SOLD IT TO ME REPOSSED IT AT 79,608 MILES WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ORIGINAL MILES. I FOUND A RECEIPT IN THE GLOVE BOX WHICH I HAVE PROOF IT WAS IN BALT. MARYLAND 5/13 2006 WITH 71,951 IN AND OUT WITH MAJOR REPAIRS. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS THE REAL MILEAGE AND IF THERE IS AWAY I CAN VERIFY .I HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND AIR BAG LIGHTS STAYING ON. HAVE I BOUGHT HIDDEN USED LEMON OR WHAT?I KNOW WHEN TOU SIGN PAPERS HERE AND IT SAYS AS IS IS LAW. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO DO OR AM I JUST STUCK? *TR
I OWN A 2001 DODGE CARAVAN AND THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW STOPPED WORKING FOR SECOND TIME . PARTS WERE REPLACED BY DEALER WORKED FOR A WHILE AND THEN STOPPED WORKING DURING A RAIN EVENT. WINDOW DOES NOT WORK CURRENTLY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT NOTICED CONDENSATION COMING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING VENTS, WHICH CAUSED THE RADIO TO SHORT CIRCUIT. THE LCD LIGHTS FLASHED ON AND OFF. THE DEALER HAS NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. HE NOTICED A PUDDLE OF ANTIFREEZE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHILE PARKED. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE LINES IN THE TUBE SUPPLY AND RETURN RUSTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PREVIOUS TUBES WERE MADE OUT OF STEAL, AND THE NEW ONES ARE MADE OF ALUMINUM. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 90,000. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, CYLINDERS, AND DEALERSHIP INFORMATION WAS NOT UNAVAILABLE.
MY DAUGHTER'S FIVE YEAR OLD FRIEND GRABBED THE SHOULDER BELT TO FASTEN HER SEAT BELT WHEN THE BELT CAME LOOSE FROM THE SIDE OF THE VAN. SHE WAS SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE THIRD BENCH SEAT. FORTUNATELY, THE VAN WAS PARKED AT THE TIME, BUT I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD SHE BEEN WEARING THE BELT AND WE GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. *TR

THE HOOD OF MY 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IS ROTTING TO THE EXTENT THAT IT WILL SOON REACH THE HOOD LATCH. THERE IS NO OTHER RUST ON THE VAN, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE IT IS A DEFECTIVE HOOD. NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. HE HAS YET TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000. I HAVE HAD AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH MY STEERING SINCE LATE MARCH INMY2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SPORT MINIVAN. WHEN IN REVERSE IT IS DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL,WHEN IN DRIVE ON OCCASION IT IS DIFFICULT. I TOOK THE VAN TO A LOCAL DODGE SERVICE CENTER AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMP. IT ISNT PUTTING OUT ENOUGH PRESSURE,THE FLUID IS CONTAMINATED AND EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I CALLED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY PROVIDER AND THEY WILL NOT COVER THE COSTS DUE TO THE CONTAMINATION IN THE LINES. THEY SAID THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE AND DODGE MINIVANS FROM SEVERAL YEARS HAVE HAD A RECALL DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. BUT MY YEAR HAS NOT HAD A RECALL. I CALL THE SERVICE DEPT WHERE MY VEHICLE IS AND THEY SAY THE SAME THING ONCE AGAIN...THERE IS CONTAMINATION IN THE LINE IT COULD BE PIECES OF FAULTY HOSES BUT THEY DONT REALLY KNOW WHAT IT IS. THERE HAD BEEN RECALLS ON OTHER VEHICLES FOR THIS REASON, DODGE MINIVANS ARE KNOWN TO HAVE POWER STEERING ISSUES BUT MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE HAS NOT HAD A RECALL. THEY RAN THE VIN TO SEE IF ANYTHING WAS L ISTED IN RECALLS. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AS I WAS DIRECTED TO DO TO SEE IF THEY CAN DO ANYTHING TO HELP. THEY TOOK MY NAME,INFO,ETC AND ONCE AGAIN RAN THE VEHICLE VIN AND SAID AT THIS TIME THEY ARE CHOOSING NOT TO HELP WITH THE REPAIRS ON THIS VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON OTHER YEARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS/SYMPTOMS I AM HAVING. THEY DOCUMENTED IN THE COMPUTER AND STATED SHOULD THERE BE A RECALL THEY WILL CONTACT ME FOR POSSIBLE REIMBURSEMENT HAVE A NICE DAY. I WAS STILL ANGRY AND CALLED BACK ASKING TO TALK TO A SUPERVISOR AND AFTER 15 MIN OF ARGUING WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPOVER WHAT SHE WAS READING ABOUT MY CASE AND WITH HER TELLING ME THEY DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE THIS DECISION ABOUT NO REPAIRS WITH NO SUPERVISOR STEPPING IN SHE AGREED TO LOOK TO SEE IF A SUPERVISOR WAS AVAILABLE. I NEVER SPOKE TO ANYONE.
HEADLIGHTS. THE DAYLIGHTS HAVE ONE LIGHT ON AND THE OTHER OFF. TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS AND THE OTHER LIGHT GOES OUT JUST OPPOSITE. PULLED THE FCM AND CLEANED THE CONTACT WORKED FOR AWHILE THEN BACK TO THE SAME THING. THE FCM PLUGS INTO THE MAIN FUSE BLOCK SEEMS LIKE THE CONNECTION HERE IS NOT A GOOD ONE. *TR
HEADLIGHTS FLICKER. DASH LIGHTS AND GAUGES FLICKER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE AIRBAG LIGHTS ARE ILLIMINATING RANDOMLY. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH IF THE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRINGS, BUT THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 85,100.
THE DRIVER WINDOW ON MY GRAND CARAVAN WON'T GO UP OR DOWN. THE AIR CONDITIONER DOESN'T WORK EITHER AND WILL COST OVER $1200 TO REPAIR. IT IS NOT SAFE TO HAVE DEFECTIVE WINDOWS. IF I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE DOORS WERE BLOCKED, I WOULD BE TRAPPED. I ALSO HAVE 2 CHILDREN. WE LIVE IN FLORIDA AND IT IS VERY HOT AN HUMID HERE AND THERE IS DANGER OF HEAT STROKE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS FOR THIS FAILURE. SHE STATED THAT HER RADIO AND ABS LIGHT ARE CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. THE ABS LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED AND THE RADIO ACTIVATES APPROXIMATELY ONCE PER MONTH FOR TWO HOURS. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 95,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 45 TO 55 MPH THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50000. THE HEADLIGHTS WERE OPERATING NORMALLY WHEN USING LOWER BEAMS. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55600. *AK
THE FRONT TIRE ON THE VAN STARTED LOSING AIR. I CHECKED TO SEE WHERE THE LEAK WAS AND FOUND TWO CRACKS IN THE WHEEL THAT WERE LEAKING. THERE IS NO SIGN OF IMPACT ON THE WHEEL AND THE CRACKS ARE NOT PARALLEL TO THE BEAD. THE CRACKS RUN 90 DEGREES FROM THE WHEEL BEAD. THESE ARE THE 17 INCH CHROME WHEELS. NO DAMAGE CAUSED BUT I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHEEL AT A QUOTED COST OF $625.00. I HAVE NOT CHECKED THE OTHER WHEELS YET.*JB
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED HAD IGNITION PROBLEMS WITH THE 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHEN HE TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE COULDN'T GET THE KEY TO TURN IN THE IGNITION ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS. HE CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A NUMBER OF CALLS ON THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO TAKE SOMETHING HEAVY AND TAP ON THE KEY SO THAT THE CYLINDER COULD CONNECT WITH THE KEY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY URGED HIM TO CALL NHTSA. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59800 ,AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59700.*AK
WHEN TURNING ON THE HEADLIGHTS, ONLY THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT WILL LIGHT ON LOW BEAMS. WHEN SWITCHING TO HIGH BEAMS, ONLY THE LEFT HIGH BEAM WILL ILLUMINATE. *TR
THE FRONT WINDOWS ON MY GRAND CARAVAN DON'T GO UP OR DOWN. THEY STARTED ACTING UP WHEN THE VAN WAS STILL PRETTY NEW, AND THEY HAVE BEEN TOTALLY NON-FUNCTIONAL FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS. IT IS ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE IN THE SUMMER, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE AIR CONDITIONER DOESN'T WORK EITHER AND WILL COST OVER $1500 TO FIX. IT IS NOT SAFE TO HAVE DEFECTIVE WINDOWS, ESPECIALLY IF THERE WERE A CRASH OR OTHER SITUATION WHERE WE WOULD NEED TO CRAWL OUT THE WINDOW. *TR
2001 DODGE CARAVAN POWER WINDOWS FAIL TO OPERATE PROPERLY. THE REGULATORS WERE REPLACED TWICE UNDER WARRANTY AND SINCE WE HAVE SPENT OVER $500 HAVING THE REGULATORS REPLACED AND, ONCE AGAIN, THE WINDOWS ARE NOT WORKING! *JB
THE AIR BAG LIGHT APPEARS RANDOMLY ON AND OFF. ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC, IF THE LIGHT IS ON AND THERE IS A CRASH, THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. I THINK THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. I HAD THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED BY MY MECHANIC, AND ALL WAS WELL FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN IT STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. ALSO, FAILURE SPEED IS RANDOM. I WOULD LIKE SOME KIND OF RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE HEARD THIS COMPLAINT FROM OTHERS AND HAVE SEEN IT ON THE INTERNET AS WELL. PLEASE ADVISE IF POSSIBLE. *TR
WE HAVE A 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW ROLLS DOWN, BUT WILL NOT ROLL UP VERY WELL. IT'S 95% BROKEN...IN OTHER WORDS, WE COULD DRIVE FOR HOURS AND TRY TO ROLL IT UP AND IT WILL NOT...THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN HURT, BUT I DON'T THINK IT SHOULD HAVE TO COME TO THAT TO GET A RECALL ORDERED. HEADLIGHTS ON 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN OPERATE ERRATICALLY OVER THE PAST MONTH. WHEN DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ARE ON ONLY LEFT HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATES. WITH HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON ONLY RIGHT HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATES. WHEN HIGH BEAM IS SELECTED, ONLY LEFT HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATES. WIRING AND SWITCHES HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED AS POSSIBLE FAULTS, CONTROL MODULES ARE SUSPECTED. MY MINIVAN WAS IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING WHILE I DELIVERED A PACKAGE TO A NEIGHBOR DURING A THUNDER, LIGHTNING, RAIN STORM. THE VAN JUMPED INTO GEAR, RACED FORWARD AND PINNED ME TO THE NEIGHBOR'S DOOR FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR BEFORE BEING RESCUED. I SPENT SEVERAL DAYS IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT OF A HOSPITAL WITH A SEVERE CRUSH INJURY AND HIP SPRAIN TO MY RIGHT LEG. WHEN THE CAR WAS EXAMINED BY MY DEALER/MECHANIC, NOTHING REGISTERED ON THE COMPUTER. I HAVE LOCATED AT LEAST 2 OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS MAKE, MODEL, YEAR JUMPING INTO OR OUT OF GEAR, WITH INJURIES. *JB

HEADLIGHTS FLASH OFF AFTER 5 MIN. OF DRIVING. THEY COME BACK ON BUT HAVE PROGRESSIVELY BEEN GETTING WORSE. FLASHING ON AND OFF THREE TIMES THEN BACK ON OR CONTINUING TO FLASH ON AND OFF. A MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT AND CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. *NM

I AM SECOND OWNER OF '01 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. BOUGHT IT IN '05. IN THE SUMMER OF 2006, PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN FIRST STARTED GOING BAD, WINDOW WOULD GO DOWN, BUT NOT UP. HAD TO PULL UP ON WINDOW WHILE HITTING SWITCH TO GET IT TO GO UP. ONLINE FORUM STATES THIS WINDOW REGULATOR IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE CHRYSLER'S/DODGES, NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED AND NO RECALL AS OF YET. I'M IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING ANOTHER REGULATOR FOR THIS WINDOW BUT FROM WHAT I'VE READ, THE AFTER MARKET REGULATORS ARE JUST AS BAD AS THE ORIGINALS! WHAT TO DO? *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING FAILED. THE SERVICE DEALER AND MANUFACTURERE WERE CONTACTED. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL # 04V480000 REGARDING AIRBAGS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
RADIO HAD FAILURE AS DESCRIBED IN A RECALL NOTICE. DODGE CLAIMS VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL INTO RANGE OF AFFECTED VEHICLES. RADIO FAILURE WAS SUCH THAT IT DRAINED BATTERY IN 24 HOURS. DODGE REFUSES TO HONOR RECALL ON VEHICLE. *NM
DRIVERS SIDE POWER WINDOW DOESN'T WANT TO GO UP ALL THE TIME. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES FOR IT TO GO UP AGAIN. *NM
MY 2001 GRAND CARAVAN 'S AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS ON APPEARING INTERMITTENTLY. I'VE HAD THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED WHICH FAILED TO END THE CONDITION. I'M AWARE THAT IF THE LIGHT IS ON, THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. I'M ALSO AWARE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL CAMPAIGN WHICH ENDED WITH THE 2000 MODELS. SO, I GUESS THAT A PERSON OR PERSONS IN A COLLISION IN A 2001 OR GREATER CARAVAN MAY OR MAY NOT BE PROTECTED BY THE AIRBAGS. I'VE SEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I HOPE IT WILL BE AND THAT NO ONE DIES OR IS CRIPPLED FOR LIFE AS A RESULT OF A FAULTY AIRBAG SYSTEM!!! *TR
INTERMITTANT HEAD LIGHTS. SOME TIMES WHEN DRIVING WITH LIGHTS ON- THEY GO OUT. WITH IN A DAY OR 2 THEY COME BACK ON. THIS IS AN ON GOING OCCURANCE. *TR
REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILED. CANNOT SEE OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW OF MY VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN, OR WHEN SALT BUILDS UP DURING THE WINTER. THE WIPER BLADE IS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDOW, OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW. *JB
I NOTICED A PUDDLE OF ANTIFREEZE UNDER MY 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. I TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO BE DIAGNOSED AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A REAR COOLING/HEATING SYSTEM PIPE THAT HAD RUSTED AND WAS CAUSING MY ANTIFREEZE TO LEAK OUT AND NOT PROPERLY CIRCULATE IN MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT DODGE HAD A RECALL SO I CONSULTED MY LOCAL DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR 2004-2005 MODEL YEARS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT FOR MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR MY VEHICLES PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE SAME EXACT ONE THAT WAS ON RECALL FOR THE NEWER VEHICLES. I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHILE HAVING TO FILL THE RADIATOR WITH A GARDENHOSE EVERY TIME I TOOK IT OUT BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED MY RUSTED STEEL PIPE WITH THE NEWER DESIGNED ALUMINUM PIPE THAT DODGE IS NOW USING IN THE VEHICLES. THIS COST $300 TO REPLACE. *NM
I HAD A SINGLE HEADLIGHT FAIL ON MY DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. IT WAS SUNDAY, AND I HAD A LONG DRIVE HOME. I HAD THE INTENT OF REPLACING THE BULB THE NEXT DAY. AS I NEARED MY HOME, IT BECAME DUSK. I TURNED ON MY ONE WORKING HEADLIGHT. AS IT GOT DARKER, I NOTICED THAT MY WORKING HEADLIGHT WAS FLASHING ON AND OFF STEADILY. I TRIED TURNING THE SWITCH ON AND OFF, BUT THE PROBLEM REMAINED. IN FACT, THE HEADLIGHT WOULD NOT TURN OFF AT ALL! I WAS IN A REMOTE AREA, AND DROVE THE ABOUT 30 MINUTES HOME WITH ONE HEADLIGHT FLASHING ON AND OFF. I GOT HOME, TURNED OFF THE HEADLIGHT AND THE IGNITION. THE HEADLIGHT KEPT FLASHING ON AND OFF! THE ONLY WAY I GOT IT TO STOP WAS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. THE NEXT DAY, I BOUGHT 2 NEW HEADLAMPS AND REPLACED THEM, WHICH SEEMED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. A VEHICLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO OPERATE ON A SINGLE HEADLIGHT FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THIS WAS A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION. *JB
MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. BOTH POWER WINDOWS HAVE STUCK DOWN OVER THE PAST 2 1/2 YEARS. DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT WINDOWS SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE AND REPLACED THE REGULATOR IN THE PASSENGER WINDOW BUT IT DOESN'T WORK ALL THE TIME STILL AND THEY CHARGED ME OVER $500 TO FIX. SLIDING DOORS SEALS HAVE BUCKLED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE AIR CONDITIONER HAS HAD 2 FAILURES AND A FUSE REPLACEMENT. *JB
ON APRIL 22, 2006, MY 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WAS EN ROUTE FROM WILMINGTON, NC TO WARREN, MI. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED WITH THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND ALSO THE FOG LAMPS BOTH IN OPERATION. WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY OPERATOR ERROR, ALL FRONTAL LIGHTING WAS TURNED OFF. BOTH THE LOW BEAMS AND FOG LAMPS FAILED TO OPERATE. NORMALLY, THIS WOULD NOT BE SO MUCH OF A CONCERN, BUT I HAPPENED TO BE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON A VERY DARK LOCATION OF THE INTERSTATE. I QUICKLY (WITHIN 2 SECONDS) CYCLED THE HEADLAMP SWITCH FROM THE FULL ON POSITION TO THE FULL OFF POSITION AND BACK AGAIN TO THE FULL ON POSITION. THE LOW BEAM AND FOG LAMP FAILURE REMAINED. DURING THE CYCLING OF THE SWITCH, I NOTICED THERE WAS A FLASH OF LIGHT IN THE SECONDARY POSITION (PARKING LAMP ONLY POSITION). I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED THE SWITCH TO THIS SECONDARY POSITION AND PULLED OUT THE SWITCH TO ENABLE THE FOG LAMPS (THE FOG LAMPS ARE OPERATED BY EXTENDING THE SWITCH TOWARDS THE DRIVER AND ARE RESET TO THE OFF POSITION WHEN THE SWITCH IS ROTATED TO THE OFF POSITION). THE PARKING AND FOG LAMPS DID OPERATE CORRECTLY IN THIS POSITION. I THEN NAVIGATED THE VEHICLE SAFELY TO A LOWER SPEED AND OUT OF THE WAY OF ANY OTHER SURROUNDING VEHICLES. IN THE RIGHT LANE AT A SLOWER SPEED, I ONCE AGAIN TRIED TO TOGGLE THE SWITCH TO THE LOW BEAM POSITION. AGAIN, ALL LIGHTING FAILED TO OPERATE IN THE FULL ON POSITION. I THEN SWITCHED BACK TO THE PARKING (AND FOG) POSITION. I TESTED THE HI-LO BEAM SWITCH. THE FLASH TO PASS FEATURE WORKED AND THE HIGH-BEAM LIGHTS WERE BRIEFLY TURNED ON WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER WAS PULLED BACK. ONCE AGAIN I TOGGLED THE LIGHT SWITCH TO SEE IF THE LOW OR HIGH BEAMS WOULD WORK IN THE FULL ON POSITION. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE HEADLAMPS, BUT THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER DID CAUSE THE HIGH BEAM LAMPS TO FLASH ON WHEN IT WAS HELD BACK. THE HEADLAMPS RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. *JB
WHILE DRIVING WITH HEADLIGHTS ON THE LIGHTS FLICKER ON-OFF RANDOMLY. *JB
WE WERE ON OUR WAY FROM FLORIDA TO PENNSYLVANIA WHEN WE WERE TOLD THAT ONE OF OUR HEADLIGHTS WERE OUT. WE PURCHASED NEW BULBS AND REPLACED THEM, THEN AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION REALIZED THAT WHEN THE DAYLIGHTS WERE ON, ONE LIGHT WAS ON AND ONE OFF, WHEN WE TURNED ON THE HEADLIGHTS THE OPPOSITE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ONE THAT WAS ON FOR DAYLIGHTS WENT OUT, THEN WHEN THE HIGH BEAMS WERE TURNED ON THE LIGHT THAT WORKED SWITCHED SIDES AGAIN. THE NEW BULBS DID NOT FIX IT, SO WE HAD TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE HOME WITH ONE LIGHT, ONCE IN AWHILE BOTH LIGHTS WOULD COME ON FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN WE ARRIVED HOME WE TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALER AND FOUND OUT THAT THE CONTROL MODULE NEEDED REPLACED. THE WORST PART WAS THAT THE CONTROL MODULE HAD BEEN REPLACED 14 MONTHS PRIOR BECAUSE OF A SIMILAR PROBLEM (WORSE, THE WHOLE DASHBOARD WENT OUT AND THE WIPERS DIDN'T WORK ALONG WITH THE HEADLIGHTS!)! THEY COULD NOT FIND A CAUSE TO WHY THE CONTROL MODULE WENT AGAIN. I'M HOPING IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN IN ANOTHER 14 MONTHS (THERE IS ONLY A 12 MONTH WARRANTY ON THE PART)! *JB
