HEADLIGHT FAILURE TO COME ON. SIDE LAMPS, TAIL LIGHTS ETC. WORKED BUT HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK EXCEPT BY HOLDING THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH IN THE "FLASH HIGH" POSITION. MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AFTER SIMILAR FAILURES SINCE THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM. PROBLEM REOCCURRED 7/27/12 WITH NO WARNING. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNLESS YOU CAN BE SURE TO BE HOME BEFORE DARK AS THE ON BOARD COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS ARE NO HELP IN DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE SO IT'S A GAME OF RUSSIAN ROULETTE ON WHETHER THE LIGHTS WILL WORK WHEN YOU GET IN. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE DOORS COULD NEITHER BE LOCKED OR UNLOCKED FROM THE CONTROL PANEL ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE DOORS HAD TO BE LOCKED AND UNLOCKED MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED HOWEVER THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,900. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,600.
APPARENTLY A FAULTY AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT MEANS THAT POSSIBLY AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN A COLLISION OR ACCIDENT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER FROM WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND ALSO CHECK FOR RECALLS VIA THE INTERNET AND ACCORDING TO THE VIN # , IT IS NOT LISTED, BUT OVER 300,000 2005 GRAND CARAVANS HAVE. WHY NOT MINE? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS FAILED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK AS DESIGNED. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS, THE CONTACT DETERMINED THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOCKS ON THE DOORS EITHER COULD NOT LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY WHEN DRIVING OR THE LOCKS WOULD ENGAGE INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR WHETHER THE CONTACT USED THE AUTOMATIC KEY FOB OR THE KEY MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR A MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE HOWEVER NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
PARK LAMPS DO NOT WORK. REPLACED FUSES, RELAY AND BULBS. *TR
FOR AT LEAST A YEAR NOW (DATES AND MILEAGE ABOVE ARE SOME SORT OF APPROXIMATION) OUR CAR HAS BEEN HAVING TROUBLE UPON REFUELING. AS I DRIVE AWAY FROM THE FUELING STATION, WITHIN ABOUT THE FIRST MILE THE CAR HESITATES, CHOKES AND EITHER THREATENS TO STALL OR ACTUALLY STALLS. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS, OR UPON RESTARTING, THE CAR DOES FINE. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALER ABOUT THIS AND THEY EXPRESSED NO KNOWLEDGE OF CHRYSLER NOTICES ABOUT IT OR WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING IT. THEY SAID IT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE TO PULL THE GAS TANK, SO I HAVE LEFT IT FOR NOW. BUT HAVING THE CAR DO THIS IS DANGEROUS. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH THIS 4TH GENERATION CARAVAN THAT HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. DODGE'S MEDIATOR SUGGESTED THAT IT'S A PROBLEM WITH TOPPING OFF THE TANK, BUT I HAVE FOUND THAT NOT TOPPING IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE, AND AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE ONLINE STRINGS I AM ATTACHING, THERE ARE OTHERS WHO NEVER TOP OFF THEIR TANK AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS WE DO. THIS IS APPARENTLY A DESIGN FLAW THAT CREATES A DANGER. IT IS EXPENSIVE FOR THE CONSUMER TO FIX, AND MY IMPRESSION IS THAT IT WILL STEADILY GET WORSE. WE WERE PART OF THE HEADLIGHT PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS TOO. THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE CAR WERE UNSTABLE FROM THE TIME WE BOUGHT THE CAR. AFTER YEARS OF COMPLAINING, OUR DEALER FINALLY SEEMED TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT WE HAD TO PAY PART OF IT. SINCE THEN WE HAVE RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT CHRYSLER IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. I HOPE THIS GAS TANK PROBLEM WILL NOT TAKE SO MANY YEARS TO CORRECT AS THE HEADLIGHT PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS AND EVERY THING SHUTS DOWN. *TR

I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH MY DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. I AM CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS; THEY SHUT DOWN BY THEMSELVES WHILE I AM DRIVING. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCES PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES LIGHTS, POWER WINDOWS AND THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOORS. I CANNOT USE THE SLIDING DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVER SIDE. IT HAD BEEN PERMANENTLY SHUT FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS, SINCE THE LAST VISIT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP IN MIAMI, FLORIDA. THEY DID A DREADFUL JOB. *TR
I HAVE AN SXT VERSION OF THIS MINIVAN. WHILE REPLACING THE DISC PADS I FOUND THAT THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE IS WORN ALMOST IN TWO. I CHECKED SEVERAL OF MY NEIGHBORS VEHICLES AND FOUND ONLY THE SXT VERSIONS WITH THE REAR SWAY BAR SEEM TO BE AFFECTED. THE SE VERSION DID NOT HAVE A REAR SWAY BAR. THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE IS ROUTED BETWEEN THE FUEL TANK AND THE SWAY BAR AND IT RUBS ON THE SWAY BAR WITH ANY MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS WILL CAUSE TWO PROBLEMS; 1) THE PARKING BRAKE WILL FAIL OR ONLY BE APPLIED TO ONE SIDE. IF THE VEHICLE IS RAISED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE PARKING BRAKE HAS FAILED AND THE WHEELS ARE NOT BLOCKED, THE VEHICLE COULD ROLL OFF OF THE JACK. 2) THE SEVERED PART OF THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE COULD DAMAGE THE WHEEL BRAKE LINE AND CAUSE IT TO RUPTURE RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSS OF ALL BRAKES. *TR
THE VEHICLE IS NOT PROPERLY SEALED. THE GROUNDS WERE ALL CORRODED AND LETTING MOISTURE OR SALT INTO COMPONENTS. FIRST THING THAT HAPPENED WAS ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND THEN ALL WENT OUT. COULDN'T SEE SPEED OR GEARS. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BASIC CONTROL MODULE AND HAVING THE BODY CONTROL MODULE CHECKED OUT TODAY. EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD IS CORRODING AT A FAST PACE. YOU CAN SEE EVEN THE METAL ON THE ENGINE. I HOPING MY WIRING HARNESS IS OK. BUT THE TECH HASN'T GOTTEN THAT FAR YET. *TR
FOR NO REASON THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF REGARDLESS OF THE LIGHT SWITCH POSITION, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, VERY SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS, PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT!! *TT I HAVE VISITED MANY FORUMS AND MOST SAY ITS IS THE SWITCH BUT SOME SAY ITS THE MAIN GROUNDING POST LOCATED UNDER THE BATTERY BOX. DOOR LOCKS ON SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT WORK. VAN HAS BEEN BACK TO DEALER 2 TIMES ON THIS. THIS IS A UNSAFE CONDITION. *TR
HEADLIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY DECIDE NOT TO COME ON, OR GO OFF AFTER CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING. PARKING LIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS AND DIRECTIONALS CON'T TO WORK. TURNING THE LAMP SWITCH ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES DOES NOT WORK. THIS HAS HAPPEN APPROXIMATELY 4 OR 5 TIMES OVER THE LAST TWO MONTHS. MOST RECENTLY ON JUNE 29 @ 10PM, HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO INCIDENT. OFF THE HIGHWAY STOPPED AT A CONVENIENCE STORE, AFTER TURNING CAR BACK ON AND DRIVING A FEW FEET, ON AN UNLIT ROAD THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OFF, HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE AND SHUT CAR OFF AND THEN RESTART, THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THEY SEEM TO COME BACK ON, THE SWITCH IS NOT EFFECTIVE. *TR
DURING ROUTINE STOP, NOTICED THAT THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT WORK. THIS WASN'T A CONCERN AT FIRST UNTIL I NOTICED THAT THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AS WELL. I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT DAIMLER CHRYSLER IS IGNORING AND LEAVING FAMILIES WITH THE BURDEN OF REPAIRING THIS EXPENSIVE ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOTHING ELSE THAT DODGE SHOULD FIX FOR ITS LOYAL CUSTOMERS. *TR
MY TANK SHOWED I HAD 1/2 TANK OF GAS AND RAN OUT OF GAS THIS HAS HAPPENED ALSO AT 1/4 TANK OF GAS I AM AFRAID I WILL RUN OUT OF GAS ON A BUSY STREET OR HIGHWAY ALSO MY GAS PEDAL STICKS SOME TIMES I AM AFRAID IT WILL STICK SOME TIME AND WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THANKS *TR
THE POWER DOOR LOCK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE STOPPED WORKING. IT COULD ONLY BE LOCKED/UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY. THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDER DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING. THE DOOR BECAME COMPLETELY INOPERABLE SINCE THE IT WAS STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION. IT COULD NOT EVEN BE UNLOCKED BY MANUALLY PULLING ON THE LOCK...THE LOCK WAS FROZEN. THEN THE SLIDER DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE STARTED TO FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. FORTUNATELY IT WOULD JUST REMAIN IN THE UNLOCKED POSITION SO WE COULD STILL OPEN THAT DOOR. I WAS AFRAID TO LOCK THAT DOOR MANUALLY IN CASE IT ALSO BECAME FROZEN IN THE LOCKED POSITION AND IT WOULD BE VERY INCONVENIENT TO GET MY KIDS INTO THE REAR OF THE VAN. SO I LEFT IT UNLOCKED AND FEARED ITEMS WOULD BE STOLEN FROM MY VEHICLE. I ALSO FEARED THAT GOD FORBID WE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I READ MANY FORUMS ONLINE ABOUT HAVING THE DEALER REPROGRAM THE BCM AND SOME PEOPLE FOUND SUCCESS WITH THIS FOR AROUND $100. I TOOK MY VAN TO A DODGE DEALER WHO TOLD ME THEY NEVER HEARD OF THAT FIX FOR THE DOOR LOCKS. SO I WOUND UP SPENDING OVER $1100 TO HAVE A LATCH AND 2 POWER ACTUATORS REPLACED. NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM FEELING VERY RIPPED OFF. WITH SO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THIS IDENTICAL COMPLAINT, YOU WOULD THINK DODGE WOULD ISSUE A RECALL. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE. *JB
ALL THE LIGHTS IN CAR LIGHTS FLICKERS, RADIO SHUT OFF AND ON, GAGES GO COMPLETELY AROUND AND CAR DIES OUT INSTANTLY. I HAD CAR REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY BACK IN 2012. I HAD TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE REPAIRED IN MARCH 2015 AND NOW ITS AUG 2015 IT IS OCCURRING AGAIN...
THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW STOPPED WORKING. BOTH SLIDING DOORS WORK ONLY OCCASIONALLY. MOST OF THE TIME THEY HAVE TO BE OPENED AND CLOSED MANUALLY. NONE OF THE DOOR LOCKS WORK. I HAVE TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR WITH THE KEY THEN REACH OVER TO THE OTHER DOORS AND MANUALLY PULL THE LOCKS UP TO UNLOCK AND DOWN TO LOCK. NEITHER THE REMOTE NOR THE INTERNAL AUTO LOCK WORKS. ONLY THE TRUNK LOCK WORKS WITH THE REMOTE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BUCKLES WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HER BACK AT A LATER DATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 123,915. UPDATED 04/19/12*LJ THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE ENTIRE SEAT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. UPDATED 04/25/12
THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS STOP WORKING. THIS HAS BEEN DISCUSSED ON THE INTERNET QUITE A BIT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH THE KEY FOB OR DOOR SWITCH. THE ALSO DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN THE CAR STARTS MOVING THUS CREATING A SAFETY CONCERN FOR KIDS RIDING IN THE BACK. REMOVING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL RESETS IT SO THAT IT WORKS AGAIN BRIEFLY. THE PROBLEM RECURS AGAIN AFTER A BRIEF TIME. *TR
ELECTRIC POWER LOCKS CONTINUE TO FAIL. THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH THE KEYLESS REMOTE OR THE LOCK SWITCH INSIDE THE DRIVERS SIDE OR PASSENGERS SIDE DOOR. *JB
SOMETIMES, MY HEADLIGHTS WON'T TURN ON WHEN I START THE VEHICLE (THE DASHBOARDS LIGHTS ARE STILL ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS). I USUALLY SOLVE THE PROBLEM BY SWITCHING THE LIGHT SWITCH ON AND OFF. THE PROBLEM NOT ONLY IS FIXED THAT WAY, BUT IT GOES AWAY FOR MONTHS AT A TIME AND IS QUITE RANDOM AND MYSTERIOUS. I AM JUST CONCERNED ABOUT THE LIGHTS FRYING OR SUDDENLY TURNING OFF WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING BECAUSE I WORK EVENINGS AND OFTEN COMMUTE ON THE HIGHWAY. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT APPEARS QUITE A FEW PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IT SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN, MYSTERIOUS GLITCH WITH DODGE CARAVANS FROM THE SAME YEAR. I GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES, ALWAYS PASS INSPECTIONS, AND THE MECHANICS NEVER FIND MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE BATTERY, ENGINE, OR THE HEADLIGHTS THEMSELVES. AND THEY USUALLY TELL YOU THAT THE CAR NEEDS TO BE PRESENT IN THEIR SHOP WHILE THE PROBLEM IS HAPPENING, WHICH DUE TO THE RANDOM, INTERMITTENT NATURE OF THE PROBLEM IS NIGH IMPOSSIBLE TO DO. IT'S A VERY STRANGE PROBLEM, BUT THERE MUST BE SOME CAUSE IF SO MANY PEOPLE DRIVING SIMILAR CARS HAVE HAD SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. *TR
POWER LOCKS HAVE TO BE RESET BY DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING THE BATTERY EVERY FEW DAYS. SINCE THIS APPARENTLY IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A MANUFACTURER RECALL TO FIX THIS DEFECT? *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WOULD NOT TURN ON. ONLY MY PARKING LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON. AFTER SEVERAL DOZEN ATTEMPTS AT TURNING ON THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS THEY WOULD FINALLY TURN ON. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAVE ALSO FAILED AT NIGHT WHILE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ONLY A COUPLE MILES FROM HOME. THE LIGHTING SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE IS NOT RELIABLE AND I WOULD HOPE THE GOVERNMENT WOULD EXAMINE THIS MATTER CLOSELY. *TR
AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT STAYS ON NOW AND THE HORN DOES NOT WORK WHEN PRESSED, BUT WILL WORK WHEN THE PANIC BUTTON IS PRESSED. *TR
2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HEADLIGHT SWITCH WILL NOT TURN THE LIGHTS ON. YOU HAVE TO KEEP TURNING THE SWITCH TO MAKE IT TURN ON. AS YOU ARE GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT NIGHT THE LIGHTS WILL FLASH OR THEY WILL JUST TURN OFF. *TR
INVOLVED IN A NEAR HEAD ON COLLISION. BACK THIRD SEAT, SEAT BELT (LAP AND SHOULDER) FAILED TO TIGHTEN ON IMPACT. VICTIM THEN PROCEEDED TO HIT HIS HEAD ON THE DVD OPTION CASE THEN WHIPLASHED FRONT X2 AND BACK X2. LATER IT WAS DISCOVERED MOST OF THE SEAT BELTS IN THIS VEHICLE DO NOT PROPERLY SECURE ANYONE IN POSITION DUE TO NOT TIGHTENING UP WHEN LATCHING OR ON IMPACT. THE SEAT BELT LATCH BUT DOES NOT PULL BACK TO TIGHTEN AND ON IMPACT IT DID NOT TIGHTEN TO SECURE THE PERSON ON IMPACT. THIS PERSON IS NO DIAGNOSED WITH POST CONCUSSION SYNDROME OR MILD TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY. HAD THE CAR VEERED IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION AND ROLLED, HIS DIAGNOSIS COULD OF BEEN MORE SEVERE OR DEATH. *TR
LETTER FROM SENATOR COLLINS ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT, RE THE FRAME OF HER 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE FRAME ON THE VEHICLE HAS EXTENSIVE RUST, WELL BEYOND WHAT SHOULD BE EXPECTED. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, BECAUSE THE OF THE EXTENSIVE RUST ON THE SUPPORT FRAME. *JB

CAN RESET BY REMOVING IOD FUSE, BUT PROBLEM SEEMS TO COME BACK IN A FEW DAYS OR FEW WEEKS TIME..IS A HUGE CONVIENCE PROBLEM MANUALLY UNLOCKING PASSENGER DOORS BY REACHING TO BACK SEAT AND WHEN YOU WANT TO LOAD SOME GROCERIES INTO REAR HATCH.. ALSO COULD BE SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY FOR SOMEONE WITH DISABILITIES....BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I SEE, IF THIS CAN BE SOLVED WITH THE DEALER REPROGRAMMING THE COMPUTER, THIS SHOULD BE A DEFINITE SAFETY DEFECT AND DONE AT NO COST TO THE OWNER.. *TR
MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. I HAVE HAD MY VAN IN SEVERAL TIMES FOR SERVICE AND NO ONE HAS PAID ATTENTION TO THE WARNING LIGHT. WHEN I HAD MY VAN IN THIS LAST WEEKEND DUE TO FAULTY HEADLIGHTS AND HAD THE WARNING LIGHT TESTED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONAL. SO, I HAVE NO WORKING AIRBAGS IN MY VAN CURRENTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH OR HIGHER, THE DOOR LOCKS DID NOT AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOORS DID NOT LOCK WITH THE KEY. THE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY HEAD LIGHTS TURNED OFF ON ME AFTER NIGHT FALL. I HAD TO CONTINUALLY TURN THEM ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THEY BEGAN TO WORK AGAIN. THEN AS I HEADED HOME, THEY FLASHED ON AND OFF. THE BRIGHTS WILL NOT STAY ON EITHER. IF I NEED TO RUN WITH THE BRIGHTS ON WHEN THE REGULAR HEAD LIGHTS DON??T WORK, I HAVE TO CONTINUALLY HOLD THE BRIGHTS IN THE FORWARD ON POSITION. IF THEY HEADLIGHT WORK PROPERLY, THEN THE BRIGHT WORK PROPERLY AS WELL. MY FOG LAMP GO ON AND OFF ALL BY THEMSELVES AND I FLICKER AND FLASH ALL DOWN THE ROAD. THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP HERE SAID IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND IN THEIR EXPERIENCE IT IS THE SWITCH AT $100 JUST FOR THE PART. LABOR IS MORE. IF IT IS SO COMMON, THEN WHERE IS THE RECALL? I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VAN SINCE I PURCHASED IT. STICKING GAS PEDAL, SHUTTERING BREAKS, AND THE ABS LIGHT. ALL THESE WERE HUGE REPAIR COST OUT OF MY POCKET. I RECENTLY PUT OVER $4000 IN REPAIR TO THIS VAN. RIGHT NOW I CANNOT AFFORD A $100 PART PLUS LABOR. RECALL PLEASE! *TR

THE LOCKS KEEP STOP WORKING AND IT NEEDS TO BE RESET BY REMOVING THE FUSE, READ ON THE INTERNET THAT ALMOST EVERYBODY WITH THIS TYPE OF VAN EXPERIENCES THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE A RECALL. LOCKS FINALLY GAVE OUT ALL THE WAY AND WILL NOT OPEN ANYMORE. *TR
HEADLIGHTS ONLY WORK SPORADICALLY. AT TIMES, THEY WON'T TURN ON AT ALL (RUNNING LIGHTS AND REAR LIGHTS STILL WORK) AND IT OFTEN TAKES SEVERAL TRIES TO GET THEM TURNED ON. HOLDING THE LEVER ACTIVATES THE HIGH BEAMS, WHICH STILL WORK. EARLY THIS MORNING, THEY SIMPLY FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD IN THE DARK. EXTREMELY UNSAFE. RESEARCH INDICATES A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE SWITCH AS MY EXACT ISSUE HAS BEEN DETAILED BY MANY, MANY INDIVIDUALS. AS BIG AS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THIS IS, IT'S HARD TO IMAGINE HOW THIS HASN'T SPAWNED A RECALL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE DOORS FAILED TO OPEN AND CLOSE WITH THE AUTOMATIC SYSTEM. THE DOOR CAN ONLY BE OPENED AND CLOSED MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE DOORS BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
DASH BOARD LIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WENT OUT CAME ON AGAIN FOR FIVE MINUTES AND WENT BACK OUT. *TR
THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS ON THE VEHICLE REPEATEDLY FAIL. FOR A WHILE PULLING THE FUSE CONNECT WITH THIS SYSTEM HELPED AND THEY WOULD WORK FOR A PERIOD OF 1-7 DAYS, NOW NOTHING WORKS. DODGE DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE A SOLUTION OR TO WANT TO WORK ON A SOLUTION. *TR
I WAS INVOLVED IN A MAJOR FRONT END HEAD ON COLLISION AND MY AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. MY HUSBAND WAS A PASSENGER AND HIT THE WINDSHIELD. I WAS TOLD BY THE GARAGE WHERE IT WAS TOWED TO THAT IF MY AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED THEY WOULD HAVE TOTALED MY VAN OUT DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. I AM VERY ANGRY AT DODGE! WHY HAVE AIRBAGS IF THEY DON'T WORK AND FAIL TO GO OFF. THANKFULLY MY HUSBAND WASN'T KILLED. HE IS INJURED PRETTY BAD THOUGH. BAD JOB DODGE! THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,588.
SOMETIME WHEN I WAS DRIVING, MY HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF MYSTERIOUSLY. NOW I CANNOT GET MY LOWBEAMS TO TURN ON. HIGH BEAMS, PARKING LIGHTS, FOG LIGHTS ALL WORK. MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH THE SWITCH. I BELIEVE THERE IS CURRENTLY AN OPEN INVESTIGATION REGARDING THIS ISSUE. *TR

THE HEADLIGHTS WILL GO ON AND OFF AT ANY TIME. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE PARKED FOR THE NIGHT. I HAVE REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON THREE OCCASIONS, FIRST ONLY THE SWITCH, NEXT THE SWITCH AND BATTERY, AND THEN FINALLY THE SWITCH AND ALTERNATOR. EACH REPAIR LASTS FOR A FEW MONTHS THEN THE PROBLEM RETURNS. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION AS IT HAPPENS AT NIGHT DRIVING. AS THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE I CANNOT GET A TRUE DIAGNOSIS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
