WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS WILL COME ON AND OFF AND FLASH FOR NO APPARENT REASON. LIGHTS WILL COMPLETELY TURN OFF AND THEN WHEN YOU TURN THE SWITCH ON AND OFF AGAIN, THE LIGHTS WORK AGAIN ON AND OFF. YOU WILL BE DRIVING DOWN A DARK ROAD AND THE LIGHTS WILL JUST TURN OFF. THIS HAPPENED LAST YEAR FOR A FEW DAYS OR SO AND THEN WORKED FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS THEN STARTED TURNING OFF AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I BELIEVE THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY MORE PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. WE HAVE THREE CHILDREN THAT RIDE IN THE VAN AND MY WIFE ALSO DRIVES EVERY NIGHT DELIVERING THE NEWSPAPER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR LOCKS ON EACH DOOR MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT REMOVED THE IOD FUSE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM BUT THE REPAIR ONLY WORKED TEMPORARILY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE RE-FLASHED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE COMPUTER RE-FLASHED.THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS ON ALL OF THE VEHICLE DOORS STOPPED WORKING. THE DOORS WOULD OPEN MANUALLY FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE, BUT WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE ONLY THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR COULD BE OPENED WITH THE KEY. THE CONTACT HAD TO CRAWL THROUGH THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO OPEN THE OTHER DOORS. A MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE DEALER HAD NOT LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 111560.
OUR DODGE GRAND CARAVAN LOCKS STOPPED WORKING (NEITHER THE KEYS OR THE AUTOMATIC BUTTON WORK). MY HUSBAND HAS LOOKED UP A QUICK FIX (PULLING THE IOD FUSE AND REINSERTING IT). HOWEVER THIS KEEPS HAPPENING AND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GET INTO OR OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE QUICKLY. ESPECIALLY FOR FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO LOCK THE VEHICLE REMOTELY BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT LOCK. THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING SOUND AS IF THE VEHICLE LOCKED BUT WHEN HE CHECKED THE DOORS THEY WERE UNLOCKED. THE CONTACT WAS ONLY ABLE TO LOCK THE VEHICLE MANUALLY. HE CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN AND HAVE IT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,738. DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT 2005 DOOR LOCK WILL NOT LOCK TO UNLOCK. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT CAUSES THIS MALFUNCTION. THIS SHOULD BE A CHRYSLER RECALL. *TR
2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN POWER LOCKS RANDOMLY LOCK AND UNLOCK WHEN VAN IS RUNNING OR NOT RUNNING WITH AND WITHOUT KEY IN IGNITION. *TR
MY DODGE MINI VAN BEGAN TO MAKE A STRANGE NOISE BUT I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AS THEY HAD ALREADY RIPPED ME OFF FOR A PREVIOUS FAILURE OF THE EGR VALVE (AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES). AFTER THAT HUGE BILL I DECIDED TO ASK A FRIEND OF MINE FROM CHURCH WHO IS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC TO LISTEN TO MY DODGE. HE SAID THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS WEARING OUT AND IT WOULD EVENTUALLY NEED TO BE REPLACED! I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS AT ONLY 65,000 MILES. I WROTE A LETTER TO THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND HAD A CALL FROM ONE OF THEIR REPS. HE REFUSED TO CONSIDER THAT CHRYSLER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE PRODUCTION OF THE MINI VAN. I WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL MY WARRANTY FOLKS (WARRANTY ALREADY OUT) AS MY POWER STEERING SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED. HELLO---DOES THIS NOT MEAN THAT CHRYSLER HAS MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS?? AS SOON AS I CAN CALL ABOUT MY WARRANTY I WILL CONTACT THE WARRANTY COMPANY. THE BOTTOM LINE IS- CHRYSLER WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SAFETY OR QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. I WOULD NOT HAVE ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT IF THEY WERE BEING GIVEN AWAY FOR FREE. WHEN THEIR VEHICLES ARE MADE UNSAFE TO DRIVE THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU OR ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN PRODUCT DEFECTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NONE OF THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR DOOR LOCKS WOULD FUNCTION. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER. THE CONTACT THEN REPLACED THE FUSES FOR ALL OF THE LOCKS. THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR A FEW WEEKS LATER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC REAR SLIDING DOORS NO LONGER FUNCTIONED AND WOULD ONLY OPEN AND CLOSE WHEN OPERATED MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS USING THE KEY FOB BUT THE ELECTRONIC KEY FEATURE WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WOULD DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT THE FUSE FOR THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK TO FUNCTION TEMPORARILY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO VIBRATE WHEN MAKING A TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY REPLACED THE STEERING RACK AND THE INNER TIE ROD ENDS. IN ADDITION, ON A DIFFERENT OCCASION THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN EXTREMELY LOUD RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE SWAY BAR END LINKS AND BUSHINGS TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. DOOR LOCKS ARE NO LONGER FUNCTIONING ON DODGE 2005 GRAND CARAVAN. HAVE READ SEVERAL BLOGS THAT LIST THE SAME DEFECT. REMOVING IOD FUSE AND REPLACING FIXES THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY. *TR
2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO LOCK/UNLOCK. REMOTE KEY SOUNDS, LIGHTS FLASH, TO ALL APPEARANCES THE LOCKS SEEM TO HAVE FUNCTIONED BUT LOOKING DOWN THRU THE WINDOWS THE LOCKS HAVE NOT CHANGED STATE. THIS VEHICLE HAS ONE DOOR LOCK ON THE DRIVERS DOOR AND ONE THE TAILGATE. IN A EMERGENCY THIS LIMITS ACCESS TO PASSENGERS, THE FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY IMPLIED BY THE HORN AND LIGHTS AS POSITIVE FEEDBACK THAT THE LOCKS FUNCTIONED IS POOR ENGINEERING. DODGE SERVICE STATES THAT FLASHING THE BCM MODULE WILL REPAIR THE FAULT AT 79.00 CHARGE. IF THE PROBLEM IS SOFTWARE IT IS MY HOPE THERE WILL BE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THEN SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING, THE HEADLIGHTS BECAME INOPERATIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE HEADLIGHTS BEGAN TO FUNCTION AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE CONTACT WOULD OFTEN HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY ENGAGE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO GET THE LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO UTILIZE THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS. NO SPECIFIC EVENTS PRIOR, JUST PARKED CAR FOR THE EVENING. CAR STARTED BUT NO HEADLIGHTS OR INTERIOR GAUGE LIGHTS INCLUDING GEAR INDICATOR, ALSO NO ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS. AFTER SEVERAL RESTARTS ALL WORK BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOW. CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT FLICKERS ON AND OFF. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW AND THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO STOP IT BY REPLACING THE COMPUTER. *TR
2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN STALLS AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. IS NOW OCCURRING EVERYTIME WE FILL UP THE VEHICLE (3 TIMES SO FAR). AFTER FILLING THE TANK, THE VEHICLE STARTS FINE, WE DRIVE UP TO 1/4 MILE AND THE VEHICLE STALLS. RESTARTS AFTER A COUPLE OF TRIES AND NO PROBLEMS NOTED...UNTIL WE FILL UP AGAIN. *TR
TOOK VEHICLE FOR ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION. THE INSPECTOR STATED THAT THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS HAS TOLD INSPECTIONS TO CHECK REAR SEATBELTS OF DODGE CARAVANS BECAUSE THEY ARE FAILING AT AN ALARMING RATE DURING ACCIDENTS. MY REAR SEATBELTS FAILED THE INSPECTION. I TOOK CAR TO DEALER WHO ORDERED NEW REAR SEATBELTS AND INSTALLED. THE NEW SEATBELTS WERE DEFECTIVE. WITH THE NEWLY ORDERED SEAT BELTS NOT WORKING, I BELIEVE THAT A STRONG CASE FOR A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT EXISTS. I FILED A CLAIM WITH CHRYSLER FOR THE AMOUNT TO REPLACE 4 SEATBELTS AND AN EXPLANATION OF WHY THE NEW SEAT BELTS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE CASE MANAGER HAS BEEN LESS THAN HELPFUL, OFTEN RUDE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT A STONE HIT THE COMPRESSOR AND CAUSED THE ANTIFREEZE LEAK OUT. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED AT HER EXPENSE FOR $700. THE FAILURE HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY DUE TO THE ROAD CONDITIONS SUCH AS A STONE FROM THE ROADWAY HITTING THE COMPRESSOR WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000. UPDATED 12/08/10 *BF UPDATED 12/13/10
POWER LOCKS RANDOMLY STOPPED WORKING. HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS. CANNOT LOCK REAR LIFTGATE. SEARCHED ONLINE, FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS. TEMPORARY FIX IS TO PULL THE 20 AMP IOD FUSE AND CLEAN AND PUT IT BACK IN. IT APPEARS THE PERMANENT FIX IS EITHER TO REPLACE YOUR BCM OR HAVE THE DEALER UPLOAD A COMPUTER UPDATE TO THE VEHICLE. *TR
2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, 7 PASSENGER, AUTO DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO FUNCTION. RESETTING IOD FUSE TEMP FIX, THEN ALL LOCKSFAIL AGAIN. *TR
HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING. TURNING THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH A FEW TIMES AND THEY CAME BACK ON. NEXT DAY, HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON, AFTER TURNING THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH A FEW TIMES THEY CAME ON. ALL LIGHTS WORK CORRECTLY EXCEPT FOR HEADLIGHTS. HOLDING BACK ON HIGH BEAM SWITCH AND LIGHTS WILL STAY ON "HIGH", HOWEVER, RELEASE HIGH-BEAM SWITCH AND LIGHTS GO OUT. *TR

THIS IS UNSAFE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. THERE A MANY COMPLAINTS THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET WITH THIS YEAR MAKE/ MODEL WITH SAME LOCK PROBLEM. HE THEN NOTICED THAT WHEN HE TURNED THE TURN SIGNAL ON, IT WOULD NOT FUNCTION AT ALL INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A TURN SIGNAL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER WAS REPAIRED AT AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000. THE DOOR LOCKS ON MY 2005 DODGE CARAVAN WOULD LOCK OR UNLOCK THEMSELVES AFTER PRESSING THE SWITCH ON THE DOOR. THEY HAVE NOW QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER EVEN QUIT LOCKING AT 18 MPH. I TRIED USING THE SWITCH ON THE DOORS AND DO NOT GET A REACTION. I TRIED THE REMOTE AND THEY WILL NOT RESPOND. THEY WORKED 10 MINUTES EARLIER. I TRIED A COUPLE HOURS LATER AND STILL NOTHING. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND HAVING THE DOOR LOCKS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. NOW I EVEN FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE PUTTING MY KIDS IN MY VAN AND WALKING AROUND THE OTHER SIDE WITH MY KEYS AND REMOTE IN MY HAND FEARING THAT THE LOCKS MIGHT NOT UNLOCK WHEN SHOULD. I HAVE VISITED NUMEROUS SITES AND FOUND A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND TEMPORARY FIXES OR VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE FOR THE SAFETY OF SMALL CHILDREN THAT TRAVEL IN THESE VEHICLES. THE ISSUES WITH THE LOCKS STARTED IN 2008 OFF AND ON AND CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. *TR
MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN'S POWER LOCKS HAVE STOPPED WORKING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS THERE IS ONLY ONE LOCK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. MY HEADLIGHTS WON'T COME ON SOMETIMES. I HAVE TO REPEATEDLY TURN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH OFF & ON (SOMETIMES DOZENS OF TIMES) UNTIL THEY WILL FINALLY COME ON. THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT OPERATE AS EXPECTED. SOMETIMES THEY DO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE SWITCH IS ROTATED TO HEADLIGHT POSITION, SOMETIMES THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER WHILE DRIVING, SOMETIMES THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHILE DRIVING. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT SINCE ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BUT FREQUENCY HAS INCREASED DRASTICALLY IN THE LAST 3 MONTH. NOW THE OPERATION OF HEADLIGHTS HAS BECOME COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE YET DIFFICULT TO TROUBLESHOOT BECAUSE FAILURE CANNOT BE REPRODUCED ON DEMAND (I.E. HEADLIGHTS FUNCTION PROPERLY WHEN AT DEALERSHIP). *TR
ELECTRIC LOCKS: AFTER 36000 MILES AND NO MORE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE THE POWER LOCKS QUIT WORKING. I FOUND THAT PULLING THE BATTERY WOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE FOR A SHORT WHILE BUT IT WOULD COME BACK AGAIN AND THAT DOING THIS COULD CAUSE ISSUES WITH HOW THE ENGINE RAN FOR A WHILE AND OF COURSE THE RADIO AND CLOCK WOULD HAVE TO BE RESET. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE I FOUND THAT THIS IS KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT IT WOULD REQUIRE A FIRMWARE UPGRADE ON THE VEHICLE ON BOARD COMPUTER. THE MANUFACTERER NOR DEALER WOULD DO THIS AT NO COST. IT COST ME $85.00 TO GET THE UPDATE. I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS RIGHT AND ONLY HOPE THAT OTHERS WILL FILE COMPLAINTS TO GET DODGE TO CORRECT THIS AND RE-IMBURSE THEIR CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD TO DO THIS. AT 5 YEARS OUR 2005 DODGE CARAVAN ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. DOOR OPEN OR LOCK DOES NOT WORK FROM INSIDE CAR ON THE DOOR BUTTON OR THE REMOTE ENTRY KEYRING. IMAGINE NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE BECAUSE THE ELECTRIC LOCKS STOPPED WORKING, OR DELAYS IN A DARK PARKING LOT GETTING IN BECAUSE LOCKS DON'T WORK. THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH DOES NOT ALWAYS TURN ON THE HEADLAMPS. WE HAVE TO SWITCH IT BACK AND FORTH SEVERAL TIMES, AND SOMETIMES IT ONLY TURNS ON PARKING LIGHTS, SOMETIMES ONLY FOG LIGHTS, AND EVENTUALLY HEADLAMPS WILL TURN ON. IT IS NOT CONSISTENT OF WHEN AND WHERE THE SWITCH WILL WORK AND HOW MANY TIMES IT TAKES TO SWITCH IT BACK AND FORTH TO TURN ON. SINCE THIS ISSUE STARTED HAPPENING - WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE HEADLAMPS ACTUALLY TURNING OFF DURING DRIVING IN THE DARK. LUCKILY THEY HAVE COME BACK ON IF I MESS WITH THE SWITCH - BUT THIS IS DANGEROUS AND IT IS NOT CONSISTENT WHEN IT HAPPENS EITHER. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE FOG LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT HAVE THE SWITCH PULLED OUT FOR THEM TO COME ON AT ALL. *TT
THE POWERLOCKS ON MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DO NOT WORK. NORMALLY THEY LOCK THE VEHICLE AT 20MPH OR GREATER. THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK THEM IS TO MANUALLY LOCK THEM. THE POWER KEY WILL NOT LOCK/UNLOCK THEM EITHER. *TR
2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, KNOWN ISSUE, AIRBAGS FAILURE TO DEPLOY. THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR A FEW YEARS AND ARE ONLY NOW DOING THE RECALL. MY HUSBAND WAS IN A FRONT END COLLISION AT OVER 40MPH, LOTS OF DAMAGE, AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I'VE CONFIRMED WITH CHRYSLER THAT MY MODEL WAS ONE OF THE VINS LISTED IN THE RECALL. *TR
PROBLEM DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HANDICAP CONVERSION VAN:ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON 2010 THIS VAN STOPPED IN A MOVING LANE NY THRUWAY OUTSIDE OF THE BUFFALO AREA. TRAFFIC WAS BUMPER TO BUMPER,STOP AND GO WITH MANY HEAVY TRUCKS.AFTER 2 911 CALLS, THE THRUWAY FLATBED TOW TRUCK DID NOT REACH US FOR NEARLY A HALF HOUR. NO COPS CAME AT ALL. MY HUSBAND, IN HIS LARGE MOTORIZED WHEELCHAIR, AND I (THE DRIVER) WERE STOPPED WITH TRAFFIC MOVING IN THE 2 LANES FROM BEHIND US.MY BLINKERS WERE ON BUT TRAFFIC HAD TO REALIZE WE WERE TOTALLY STOPPED AND THEN USEOTHER LANES, INCLUDING THE BREAKDOWN LANE TO OUR RIGHT, TO GO AROUND US! THANKFULLY,WE WERE NOT HIT BY THESE GIGANTIC TRUCKS.WE ARE ALIVE TO TELL THE STORY. IT IS NOW 10 DAYS LATER. THE FIRST REPAIR SHOP AND THEN,THE NEXT DAY TILL NOW, A DEALER REPAIR SHOP HAVE WORKED ON THE VAN. TWO SENSORS WERE REPLACED AND THEN THE ENTIRE COMPUTER WAS REPLACED. BOTH REPAIRS DID NOT MAKE THE VAN START. THE DEALER SHOP WAS IN CONTACT WITH THE CHRYSLER/DODGE CORPORATION. THE WIRING HARNESS WAS OPENED. PART OF THE PROBLEM WAS FOUND. I DON'T KNOW ALL THE DETAILS OF THEIR INVESTIGATION. WAITING FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE FIXED, MY HANDICAPPED HUSBAND AND I HAVE NOW AMASSED $1000 IN HOTEL/ETC. BILLS DUE TO THIS INCIDENT. AND, THIS COST DOES NOT YET INCLUDE FIXING OUR VEHICLE. FINALLY, THE DEALER REPAIR SHOP ARRANGED TO HAVE A RENTAL VAN DELIVERED TO OUR HOTEL (OUR COST) SO WE COULD FINALLY GET THE SPECIAL WHEEL CHAIR AND DRIVE HOME 8 HOURS. AND THUS FAR ALL THE COSTS ARE MINE. I NOW HAVE ANOTHER $1000 RENTAL FEE FACING ME BECAUSE THE WHEELCHAIR VAN TO GET WAS RENTED FOR 8 DAYS, ON THE DEALER REPAIR SHOPS ARRANGEMENTS. A FEE WOULD BE CHARGED FOR "EARLY" RETURN OF THE WHEELCHAIR RENTAL. NOTE THAT MY HUSBAND HAD ONLY A BORROWED MANUAL, NON-TILTING WHEELCHAIR FOR THE DURATION. NEARLY EVERY TIME THE WE FILL THE TANK FULL OF FUEL THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AFTER LEAVING THE STATION. TYPICALLY IT WILL HAPPEN MID TURN WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE STATION OR ELSE WITHIN A BLOCK OF LEAVING. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE STEERING STOPS WORKING NORMALLY. FURTHER SEARCHING INDICATES A COSTLY SOFTWARE UPGRADE AND WARNINGS BY DODGE DEALERS NOT TO DO THIS TYPE OF QUICK FIX WITH NO REASON WHY. THE QUICK FIX APPEARS TO WORK FOR VARYING LENGTHS OF TIME UNTIL SAME FAILURE OCCURS. HEAT, COLD, WET OR DRY DO NOT SEEM TO ALTER THE FAILURE RATE. *TR

NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
