TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH WHEN HE CRASHED INTO A ROW OF TREES AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION SHOP AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSORS WERE NOT CONNECTED AND WERE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT IMPACT SENSORS WENT BAD BECAUSE THE WIRE HARNESS CORRODED AND CAUSED THE OPEN CIRCUIT, CAUSING THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS. *TR
RECURRING ISSUE OF ENGINE STALLING AFTER REFUELING. USUALLY WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF FILLING, AND WHEN DRIVING SLOWLY. INTERNET SEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A RAMPANT PROBLEM, NOT ONLY WITH CARAVANS, BUT WITH OTHER CHRYSLER/DODGE VEHICLES. APPARENTLY THE ENTIRE GAS TANK REQUIRES REPLACEMENT, WHICH INDICATES TO ME IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL ABNORMALLY. THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND ADVISED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 72,000.
AFTER FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK, THE CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING A FEW MINUTES LATER. DEALERSHIP SAID THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND CHARGED ME $766.55. THE CALLED IT A NON SERVICEABLE CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK WHICH ALLOWS LIQUID FUEL INTO EVAPORATE LINE AFTER REACHING A CERTAIN LEVEL. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS STARTED THE PCM PURGES THE EVAPORATE SYSTEM TO BURN THE VAPORS AND EXPOSURE THE CATALYST WARM UP SYSTEM. AT THIS TIME THE LIQUID FUEL IN THE EVAPORATE LINE IS SUCKED INTO THE ENGINE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR COULD BE ON THE ROAD. WHEN IT STALLS IT COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THIS BEFORE PEOPLE ARE INJURED. *TR
2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PROBLEM WITH TIE RODS *TGW ALSO, THE ABS SENSOR WAS REPLACED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED TO OPERATE WHEN ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS LEAKING COOLANT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE ON THE 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS 10V611000 (EQUIPMENT: ELECTRICAL: AIR CONDITIONER). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I TURNED THE IGNITION ON, PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE. THE CAR BEGAN MOVING FORWARD FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND THEN IT LOST ALL POWER WITH NO WARNING, JUST STALLED. THE CAR'S HEAT SENSOR GAUGE WAS NORMAL JUST BELOW HALFWAY AND I HAD A HALF TANK OF GAS. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. IT DIDN'T FEEL LIKE THE BRAKES WERE WORKING EITHER. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN STARTED IT UP AGAIN WITH NO PROBLEMS. IT DROVE TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS.
DEAR SIR/MADAM: MY 2007 DODGE MINIVAN MANUFACTURED BY CHRYSLER HAS A DEFECTIVE ENGINE. THE 3.8L ENGINE BURNS OIL AND OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS DONE PROVED THE SAME. I WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BY MECHANICS OUTSIDE OF DEALERSHIP SERVICE WHICH WHEN NOTIFIED BACK, RELUCTANTLY ACCEPTED THE ISSUE AND WENT ON TO STATE THAT I HAD TO PAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM RELATED TO WORN OUT PISTON RINGS. REPAIRS OF THIS NATURE ARE EXPENSIVE AND ON BRIEF RESEARCH ON INTERNET, OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE EXPERIENCES THE SAME PROBLEMS. WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY, I ENCOUNTERED MANY ENGINE RELATED SYMPTOMS LIKE SLUGGISH PERFORMANCE, ENGINE WHINING OR HISSING NOISE AND SUCH. IT'S MY BELIEF THAT CHRYSLER SERVICE FAILED TO DO NECESSARY TESTS TO DETECT THIS ISSUE. *TR
REAR EVAPORATOR LEAK -AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK- EVAPORATOR AND ALUMINUM HOSES ARE 6" FROM REAR TIRE - THE EVAPORATOR WILL BE DAMAGED AND/OR CORRODE/OXIDIZE AT SOME POINT AND LEAK - IT WILL COST BETWEEN $800 - $1500 TO REPAIR FOR AN OBVIOUS DESIGN PROBLEM - IF IT HASN'T LEAKED YET IT WILL FROM THE ON-LINE COMPLAINTS THAT I'VE SEEN. *TR
MY 2007 GRAND CARAVAN IS BURNING OIL. CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WITH DEALER. CAR IS BURNING APPROX. 1 QT. OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. CHRYSLER SAID IT IS WITHIN ACCEPTABLE LEVELS OF USAGE.CAR ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES.NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT,EVEN THOUGH I BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM CHRYSLER. *TR
PARKED FACING DOWNHILL WITH VEHICLE IN PARK AND PARKING BRAKE ON. CAR WOULD NOT CHANGE GEAR USING COLUMN LEVER. GOT OUT OF VEHICLE TO CHECK UNDER HOOD FOR A PROBLEM. NOTICE CABLE DISCONNECTED FROM LEVER ON TRANSMISSION. WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO REACH IN TO GET THE CABLE, THE VEHICLE POPPED OUT OF GEAR AND ROLLED DOWN HILL, THE HOOD SLAMMED MY ARM TRAPPING IT AS THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWNHILL. I BECAME TRAPPED BETWEEN ANOTHER CAR AS IT PUSHED ME 20 FEET DOWNHILL. ANOTHER PASSER BY WAS ABLE TO GET IN THE VEHICLE AND PUT THE BRAKE WHILE I PRIED MY ARM OUT CAUSING NERVE DAMAGE. THE HOOD WOULD NOT RELEASE WHILE MY ARM WAS STUCK. *TR
2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 6 DAYS WHILE WE WERE AWAY ON VACATION. RETURNED TO AIRPORT AND DROVE VEHICLE HOME (30 MILES). NEXT MORNING DROVE VEHICLE INTO TOWN (15 MILES) WITH NO PROBLEMS. PARKED FOR 1 HOUR THEN WENT TO RETURN HOME. WITHIN A FEW MILES THE VEHICLE MOVED ITSELF INTO A NEUTRAL STATE (DISPLAY SHOWED "D" STILL) WHILE MOVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS WAS IMMEDIATELY MADE AWARE AS THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW AND THE ENGINE QUICKLY REVVED HIGH. WAS BARELY ABLE TO COAST SAFELY INTO A PARKING AREA. TURNED VEHICLE OFF FOR 5 MINUTES, THEN RESTARTED AND IT DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. ISSUE IS THAT THE VEHICLE MOVED ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT REASON AND ALSO DID NOT UPDATE DISPLAY. WE LIVE IN MICHIGAN AND TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN 35 DEGREES OR LESS RECENTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE AIR CONDITIONER WHICH COULD CAUSE THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO INSERTED RED DYE WITH FREON THAT WOULD IDENTIFY AND PLUG THE LEAK. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE REMEDY MAY OR MAY NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHEN DRIVING THE CAR, THE IGNITION KEY SUDDENLY SHUT OFF THE ENGINE CAUSING DIFFICULTY WITH STEERING AS WELL. THIS WAS CHECKED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHO COULD FIND NO REASON FOR THE ACTION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER LOCKS HAVE MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEYLESS ENTRY NOR THE MAIN POWER LOCK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK ALL OF THE DOORS. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY LOCK EACH DOOR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE LOCKS ARE NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS ON GOING PROBLEM WITH HIS YEAR, MAKE. AND MODEL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THERE WAS NO RELATED RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000. AROUND JANUARY 2011, I NOTICED A RUBBING NOISE AFTER BEING PART OF A FUNERAL PRECESSION. THE NOISE WOULD COME AND GO. THERE WERE ALSO A LITTLE SHAKING LIKE A POTHOLE WHEN NOTHING WAS THERE AND I ASSUMED IT WAS THE ROAD BUT I COULDN'T SEE IT. I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THE NOISE AND NEEDED TO TRAVEL SO I TOOK IT A SHOP. ON FEBRUARY 23RD I WAS TOLD I HAD A LOW LEVEL BRAKE PAD AND TO RETURN IN 6 TO 8 WEEKS. MY FRONT BRAKES WERE DONE AT 40,000 MILES AND THE REAR WERE DONE OCTOBER 2010. THE VEHICLE WAS NEAR 60,000 MILES ON THIS CHECK-UP. I WAS STILL NOT COMFORTABLE AND WAS GOING TO RETURN IN EARLY MARCH, WHEN I GOT PAID. I WENT TO APPLY MY BRAKES GOING TO WORK...THEY DIDN'T WORK CORRECTLY...I HIT TWO CARS (TOTALED MY CAR AND MIDDLE CAR). MY BRAKES FAILED AT OVER 60,000. MY LOWER LEGS STILL HURT OVER 2 MONTHS AFTER THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. *TR
WE HAVE A 2007 DODGE CARAVAN SXT. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASION, I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE, AND THEN THE IDLING OF THE RPM STARTED TO CLIMB VERY HIGH, AND THE VAN STARTED TO VIBRATE, THEN WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD NOT ENGAGE, IT WAS STUCK FOR A GOOD 5 MINUTES. AFTER WHICH I KEPT PRESSING THE PEDAL, AND THEN IT FINALLY LOOSEN, I HEARD A SOMETHING POPPING LOOSE WHEN IT HAPPENED AND THEN THE ACCELERATOR ZOOMED SO FAST WHEN DEPRESSED. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, SAME THING HAPPENED AND THEN IT GOT STUCK AGAIN. THE DEALER SERVICE CENTER, SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT LOCATE THE PROBLEM. HAS ANYONE ELSE ENCOUNTERED THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I KNOW THAT WHEN I DESCENDING A STEEP HILL, I CAN FEEL ALOT OF VIBRATION ON MY BRAKES. ALSO MY SIDE DOORS DOES NOT OPEN WITH THE HANDLE OR THE KEY REMOTE, OR OVERHEAD REMOTE. YOU NEED TO PLAY AROUND WITH THE DOOR HANDLE ON THE OUTSIDE FOR AWHILE BEFORE YOU CAN GET IT OPENED. *TR
I HAVE HAD THE 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SINCE 2007. THIS WINTER, WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE AROUND 33 AND BELOW, IT SLIPS OUT OF DRIVE IN TO A NEUTRAL STATE. THE GEAR ON THE DASH DOES NOT MOVE SO IT APPEARS TO STILL BE IN DRIVE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL, IT "GOES NEUTRAL" WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STILL MOVING. IT SLOWS DOWN AND I CAN BRAKE BUT THE ACCELERATION WILL NOT WORK. SUDDENLY IT WILL "POP" BACK INTO DRIVE. THIS ALL HAPPENS WITH BOTH OF MY HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. IT DOES THIS ALL ON ITS OWN AND IT IS VERY SCARY, ESPECIALLY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR. THE ONLY THING THAT HELPS IS TO RUN THE VEHICLE AT LEAST 10 MINUTES IN COLD WEATHER PRIOR TO PUTTING IT IN DRIVE. *TR
2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DIES AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS CREATING A DRIVING HAZARD AND A DANGEROUS SITUATION, THIS HAPPENS NOW WITH EVERY FILL UP, DIDN'T HAPPEN UNTIL NOV. 2010, NOW IT HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY WITH EVERY FILL UP. *TR

AIRBAG ON DRIVER SIDE DID NOT WORK WITH A HIGH SPEED FROM IMPACT. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN THAT HAS IT'S MIDDLE ROW RIGHT SEATBELT REPLACED TWICE IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS. FIRST ONE FEB. 2009 AND SECOND ONE NOV. 2010. SAME PROBLEM EACH TIME WITH THE SEATBELTS - THEY WOULD JUST QUIT WORKING - THEY WOULD GET STUCK AND WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LATCH SEATBELT. AND IF YOU COULD GET IT LATCHED FOR SOME REASON - IT WOULD BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IT UNLATCHED WHEN NEED TOO. *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY SHUTOFF OR WILL NOT TURN ON WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS, CHECKED FOR A LOOSE CONNECTIONS, AND CHECKED THE FUSES MANY TIMES. THIS IS OKAY DURING THE DAY, HOWEVER I LIVE OUT IN THE COUNTRY 15 MINUTES FROM THE NEAREST TOWN. I CANNOT DRIVE AT NIGHT WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS OR WITH THE POSSIBILITY THAT THEY WILL SHUTOFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR THAT NOTHING SERIOUS HAS HAPPENED BUT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT MUST BE FIXED! MY WIFE AND 7 MONTH OLD CHILD USE THIS VEHICLE THE MOST AND I CAN'T FATHOM THE IDEA OF THEM BEING INJURED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. OTHERS HAVE SUGGESTED A FAULTY HEADLIGHT SWITCH. I HAVE NOT HAD THE TIME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. *TR
ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2010 THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR TO MY 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN CAUGHT FIRE 1 FOOT FROM MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO WAS STRAPPED IN A 5 POINT HARNESS CAR SEAT. I PICKED MY SON UP FROM SCHOOL AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45, WITH MY DAUGHTER IN TOW. I OPERATED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR TO PUT HER BACK INTO HER SEAT AFTER SIGNING OUT MY SON WITH NO ISSUE. I NOTICED NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DOOR. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE TO MY HOUSE. HALFWAY HOME I SMELLED SOMETHING AND WHEN I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY, I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY AIR CONDITIONING UNIT AND BY TURNING THE CAR OFF I WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF THE SMOKE. I TRIED TO OPERATE THE AUTOMATIC DOORS FOR MY REAR PASSENGER DOORS BUT THEY DIDN'T WORK. I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY OPEN MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR NO MATTER HOW HARD I PULLED. I HAD NO IDEA THAT DOOR WAS ON FIRE AT THAT POINT. I NOTICED NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DOOR OTHER THAN IT WOULDN'T OPEN. I HAD TO CLIMB INTO THE BACK THROUGH THE OTHER SIDE TO GET MY DAUGHTER. I WENT IN TO THE HOUSE, STILL THINKING THAT EVERYTHING WOULD STOP SMOKING ONCE THE CAR COOLED DOWN AND LET MY DOG OUT IN THE BACK YARD. I CAME BACK AROUND TO THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE AFTER 5 MINUTES. I SAW GRAY SMOKE BILLOWING OUT OF THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR I HAD LEFT OPEN TO AIR OUT THE CAR. I WALKED AROUND TO THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AND I SAW THE PAINT BUBBLING AND MELTING AND LITTLE FLAMES LICKING THE GLASS OF THE DOOR. AT THAT POINT I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND MY NEIGHBOR TOOK THE HOSE TO THE CAR TO PUT OUT THE EXTERNAL FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME IN 5 MINUTES AND PUT OUT THE FIRE IN THE DOOR. THEY GAVE ME THE BURNED PIECE AND SAID THEY BELIEVED THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE MOTOR FOR THE AUTOMATIC DOOR. I CALLED IN A COMPLAINT TO CHRYSLER/DODGE. MY REFERENCE NUMBER IS 19962230 WITH THEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN ONE OR TWO HOURS. THE VEHICLE ALSO BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CODE IDENTIFIED THE FAILURE AS EMISSIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EMISSIONS WAS RELATED TO THE ERG VALVE FAILING WHICH CAUSED OIL TO ENTER INTO THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85000.
OUR 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT SHOWS PREMATURE WEAR IN THE BRAKE AND RACK-AND-PINION SYSTEMS. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 20,500 MILES AND AGAIN AT 42,300 MILES. THE BRAKE PADS WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT AFTER JUST ABOUT 20,000 MILES TWICE NOW. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, BECAUSE YOU DO NOT EXPECT THE BRAKES TO WEAR OUT AFTER 20,000 MILES PARTICULARLY IN THIS FAMILY CAR, ALWAYS DRIVEN WITH KIDS, VERY CAUTIOUSLY AND NEVER OFF-ROAD. THE RACK-AND-PINION SYSTEM IS WORN OUT AT 42,300 MILES AND THAT IS ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT IS PREMATURE AS WELL. THE CONSUMER DOES NOT EXPECT A FAILURE AFTER SUCH FEW MILES. THE CAR HAS BEEN REGULARLY AND METICULOUSLY INSPECTED AT THE CHRYSLER DODGE DEALERSHIP ACCORDING TO DODGE SPECIFICATIONS WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AT 11,234 MILES IN MAY 2008. *TR

AIR BAG IS POSSIBLY IN A NON-WORKING CONDITION - THUS LEAVING THE POTENTIAL FOR BODILY HARM IF A CRASH SHOULD OCCUR. MANUFACTURER IS NOT OFFERING A FIX AT THIS TIME, AND ACTUALLY DENIES ANY PROBLEMS WITH SAID DEVICES.

I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE LEFT OUTER TIE ROD ABOUT 10,000 MILES AGO. THE SUSPENSION OF THIS VAN IS HORRIBLE AND IT IS A FAMILY CAR. WHEN I RIDE THROUGH PUDDLES OF WATER, I LOOSE THE ABILITY TO STEER MY VEHICLE. I WAS TURNING THE CORNER ENTERING ONTO A MAIN ROAD THAT HAD A MODERATE SIZE PUDDLE OF WATER. I HAVE HAD ONE OTHER OCCURRENCE AFTER SPLASHING INTO A VERY SMALL PUDDLE OF WATER ENTERING INTO THE DEVELOPMENT THAT I LIVE IN. I WAS TRAVELING VERY SLOWLY AS I WAS APPROACHING THE GUARD GATE. I HAD TO WAIT AT LEAST 20 SECONDS BEFORE BEING ABLE TO STEER MY VEHICLE. EACH OCCURRENCE THE LENGTH OF TIME THAT I LOOSE STEERING SEEMS TO INCREASE. THIS PAST WEEKEND, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AT LESS THAN 10 MPH, THE ABS RUMBLED SO LOUD THE ENTIRE VAN SHOOK. WE THEN STOPPED THE VAN, PLACED IT IN PARK AND THEN BACK INTO GEAR (DRIVE). WHEN THE BRAKES WERE AGAIN APPLIED, THEY WERE ROCK SOLID (NO MOVEMENT OF THE BRAKE PEDAL) THEN THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN A COLLISION WITH A TREE VICE AN ON-COMING VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE ROLLED SLIGHTLY UP THE TREE, BROKE THE WHEEL FRAME CONNECTION PIECE, BENT THE SWAY ARM, BUCKLED THE FRONT QUARTER PANEL, AND EXPLODED THE TIRE. VAN CURRENTLY HAS 16K MILES. NO INJURIES. EVENT WAS WITNESSED BY THREE PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. BUT WITH THAT TYPE OF HIT ON THE TREE, SHOULDN'T THE AIRBAGS HAVE ALSO DEPLOYED? *TR
