AT FIRST STARTING MY DODGE GRAND CARAVAN MAINSTREET WAS A HEADACHE. WE WOULD GO OUT TO START OUR CARAVAN AND IT TOOK ABOUT 20 TO 30 CRANKS BEFORE IT WOULD TURN OVER. IT STOPPED CRANKING ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 5, 2015. WE HAD TO GET IT TOWED HOME. MIND YOU I WORK 2 JOBS AND HAD TO BE AT MY SECOND JOB ON SATURDAY AT 2:30 PM. WE GOT IT TOWED AND HAD A MECHANIC COME OUT TO LOOK AT IT. HE FOUND THAT THE STARTER HAD STOPPED. WE TOOK THE STARTER TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE FOR THEM TO CHECK IT. THE STARTER HAD DIED. WE PURCHASED THE STARTER AND GOT IT INSTALLED AND OUR CAR STILL WOULD NOT STAY CRANKED. THE MECHANIC TESTED ALL OUR FUSES AND OUR FUSE PUMP AND FOUND THAT ONE OF OUR FUSED(M25) THAT GOES TO THE FUEL PUMP WAS NOT GETTING ENOUGH POWER TO IT. RESEARCHING ONLINE I FOUND THAT DODGE HAS A CIVIL SUIT AGAINST THEM FOR THE TIPM(TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE). I HAVE HAD TO WALK 2 HOURS TO GET TO MY SECOND JOB. ON SOME DAYS I HAVE TO PAY FOR A TAXI(TOTAL COST AT $46 DOLLARS) THAT IS MORE THAN I MAKE A DAY AT MY SECOND JOB. I GO TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE FOR THE TIPM AND ITS NOT. WHAT DO YOU DO? I NEED TRANSPORTATION. I PAY A CAR NOTE OF $480.00 A MONTH AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET THIS FIXED. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER DODGE. WHEN ALL OF THIS STARTED MY AIRBAG LIGHTS POPPED ON AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS AUTOMATICALLY OPENED AND CLOSED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AFTER MONTHS OF VEHICLE SOMETIMES STARTING, SOMETIMES NOT, IT FINALLY WOULD NOT START. WOULD CRANK BUT NOT TURN OVER, THE WEEK PRIOR TO THIS, PRESS ON GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED (WHILE DRIVING) - VERY DANGEROUS. DIAGNOSIS = NEW FUEL PUMP. CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD WITH LESS THAN 60,000 MILES.
VEHICLE NOT STARTING AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OR STALLING AT SPEED. TIPM TESTED AND FOUND TO HAVE A FAULTY FUEL RELAY. THIS IS THE SAME EXACT PART INVOLVED IN THE RECALL OF OTHER MODELS IN THE SAME YEAR BY DODGE.
THE VEHICLE WAS HARD TO START AND OFTEN WOULD NOT START, FAULTY TIPM.
FIRST I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE BATTERY THEN IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR THEN IT WAS THE KEY FOB. AFTER ALL THESE REPAIRS THE DODGE DEALERSHIP SAYS NOW IT'S THE TIMP MODULE. THIS VAN ONLY HAS 65000 MILES. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE VERY SAME ISSUES FOR CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME TYPE VEHICLES. I HAVE ALSO SEEN THE LAWSUIT AND RECALL FOR DEFECTIVE TIMP FROM 2013 AND 2014. MY VEHICLE IS ONE THAT WAS LISTED AS AN ADDENDUM LAWSUIT THAT MAY BE AFFECTED BY THIS MODULE. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN FLORIDA IN 2012.
THE VEHICLE OF RECORD HAS BEEN SPONTANEOUSLY SHUTTING OFF ALL DAY, IT SHUT OFF 15 TIMES IN 1 PARKING LOT, BUT THE MOST DANGEROUS ASPECT WAS WHEN IT SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DOING THE SPEED LIMIT IN A 50 AND A 55 MPH ZONE. IT WILL GENERALLY SHUT OFF RANDOMLY, BUT PRIMARILY AT STOP SIGNS OR BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACES, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN 3 INSTANCES WHERE IT SHUT OFF AT 40 MPH OR HIGHER IN THE LAST 8 HOURS, WHEN THESE SHUT OFFS HAPPEN IT TAKES 5-10 ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE CAR. WHEN THESE INSTANCES HAPPEN THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL LOCK UP MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP AND/OR TURN.
MY VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE TIPM MODULE IN IT. I FIRST HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY THEN THE ALTENATOR THEN THE KEY FOB AND FINALLY THE TIPM MODULE. LOOKING BACK THAT ALL OF THE FIRST REPAIRS TURNED OUT NOT TO BE THE PROBLEM. WE HAD ALWAYS NOTICED THAT AT TIMES THE WINDOWS WOULD AUTOMATICALLY ROLL DOWN AND THAT THE ELECTRIC DOORS WOULD SUDDENLY OPEN UP. WE NEVER QUITE KNEW WHAT IT WAS UNTIL NOW. WE REPLACED THE TIPM AND IT WORKED FINE. AFTER SPENDING 800 DOLLARS THAT I DIDN'T REAL NEED TO THE TIPM WAS ANOTHER 1000 DOLLARS. I'VE SEEN THE LAWSUIT THAT IS ON GOING RELATED TO THE VERY SAME PROBLEM I HAD IN THE GRAND CHEROKEES AND THE DODGE DURANGOS. MY VEHICLE IS LIST IN THE ADDENDUM TO THE LAWSUIT. I'M VERY FRUSTRATED I HAD TO SPEND FIRST 800 DOLLARS THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM THEN THE1000 DOLLARS KNOWING THEY HAVEN'T HAD A RECALL YET AFTER SO MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO PROVIDE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, BUT WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIR SINCE THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO START UNTIL IT FINALLY QUIT STARTING. WE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. IT HAS NOW BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY TIPM. THE REPLACEMENT PART IS ON BACKORDER AND THERE IS NO DELIVERY DATE SET AS OF YET.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND A FAILURE CODE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
VAN WOULD CRANK BUT WOULD NOT START. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT STARTED BUT RAN ERRATIC. AFTER DRIVING VAN FOR ~20 MINUTES VAN BEGAN TO HESITATE WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY. I RESEARCHED PROBLEM ON INTERNET AND NOTICED OTHER WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I ALSO NOTICED CHRYSLER ANNOUNCED A RECALL ON 2011 DODGE DURANGO AND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SUVS FOR A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM BUT NOT FOR THE GRAND CARAVAN. THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IN THE TIPM. I DISCUSSED THE PROBLEM WITH MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE ADVISER INDICATED THAT HE WAS AWARE OF THE RECALL AND HAD ALSO SEEN THE SIMILAR ISSUE ON VANS. THE DEALERSHIP BYPASSED THE RELAY USING MOPAR PART CBWPR091AA WIRING - FUEL PUMP RELAY. PART WAS $18.88 AND TOTAL BILL WITH LABOR WAS $176.00. THE VAN APPEARS TO BE OPERATING NORMALLY AT THIS TIME.
FUEL RELAY IS STUCK IN THE OPEN CONDITION CAUSING A NO START. VEHICLE WILL CRANK BUT WILL NOT START. FURTHER TESTING REVEALED OPEN CONTACT ON THE INTEGRATED FUEL RELAY. VEHICLE WILL RUN IF /WHEN RELAY IS BY PASSED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN DUE TO NO START. REPLACED (ALTERNATOR AND STARTER AND SERPENTINE BELT) ALL WERE TESTED AND FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE (INTERNALLY ELECTRICAL BURNT). FAULTY TIPM VEHICLE DO NOT START
IT BEGAN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT 6 MONTHS OLD, THE WINDOWS WOULD OPERATE ON THERE OWN, THE ELECTRONIC VEHICLE INFROMATION CENTER WOULD CHANGE ON IT'S OWN, AND LAST MONTH THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ALWAYS START, HAD TO REPLACE THE TIPM
THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, MY WINDOWS WEREN'T WORKING, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WOULD NOT TURN OFF. MY CAR STALLS EACH MORNING 4X'S BEFORE IT CAN BE TURNED ON. I WORK WITH DOGS, AND WHEN I HAVE PARKED WITH A CAR FULL OF DOGS, I HAVE WAITED UP TO 45 MINUTES TO UNTIL MY CAR HAD BEEN ABLE TO FINALLY START AND DRIVE OFF WHICH IS DANGEROUS FOR THE LIVELIHOOD OF THE ANIMALS! I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER, AND HAVE TO PAY ALMOST 2,000 DOLLARS TO GET THIS FIXED. THIS IS NOT A WARE AND TEAR ISSUE, THIS IS A FAULTY DODGE PART!!!

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND HAD TO BE JUMPSTARTED TO DRIVE. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WOULD FAIL TO START WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LARRY H. MILLER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM SANDY (LOCATED AT 1525 N UNIVERSITY PKWY, PROVO, UT 84604, (801) 734-9791) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN OPEN UNKNOWN RECALL REGARDING THE STEERING COLUMN. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

VEHICLE HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING BEGINNING IN AUGUST 2015. NOW IT TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START AND WILL OFTEN NOT STAY RUNNING ONCE PUT INTO DRIVE. VEHICLE STALLED OUT IN TRAFFIC YESTERDAY, LUCKILY IT WAS ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD QUICKLY. AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AT ALL NOW AS I'VE READ THAT ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS OCCUR WITH THIS PROBLEM (AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING OR RANDOMLY DEPLOYING)

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY VAN CRANKING. SO I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER.THEY CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP AND IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME THING. SO THEY REPLACED RELAYS. THEY KEPT MY VAN FOR OVER THREE WEEKS, BUT CLAIMED THEY NEVER COULD GET IT TO DO ANYTHING. BUT EVERY TIME I GET IN IT IN THE MORNING IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING. WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY TO CRANK IT, IT CONTINUES TO TRY TO CRANK. BUT IF YOU TURN THE KEY OFF THEN TO RIGHT BEFORE IT CRANKS, DO THIS A COUPLE OF TIMES THEN IT WILL CRANK. I ASKED IF ANYONE EVER DROVE IT TO SEE IF IT DID THE SAME THING WITH THEM AND THEY SAID NO. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING AND NO ONE HAS BOTHER TO CONTACT ME TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AND MY VAN HAS ALWAYS HAD SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP. I WANT MY VAN BACK THE WAY IT WAS!!!!!!!!!!
TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) WOULD MALFUNCTION AND CAUSE VEHICLE NOT TO START.
CAR WILL NOT START (NOTHING HAPPENING WHEN TURNING KEY). HAVE TO WAIT OR PLAY WITH ACCESSORIES (NOT SURE IF IT HELPS) BUT THEN CAR WILL START? ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH VENTILATION SYSTEM -> AIR WOULD BE WARM ON PASSENGER SIDE EVEN IF IT IS ON COLD AND VICE-VERSA. IT SEEMS TO GO AWAY AFTER A FEW DAYS. CAN ALSO HEAR VENTILATION TRAPS MOVING SOMETIME EVEN IF CAR IS TURNED OFF AND NOT RUNNING.

WHEN DRIVING AT 30MPH MY VAN ACCELERATED ON ITS ON WITHOUT THE GAS PEDAL BEING TOUCHED. I HAD TO PUSH MY BRAKES, I THEN PULLED OVER. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE MY VAN AGAIN IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. MY MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH AFTER THE SECOND ACCELERATION. I THEN HAD MY CAR TOWED.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
THE 2011 GRAND CARAVAN HAD TROUBLE STARTING ONE MORNING BUT SOON STARTED. SOON AFTER, THE PROBLEM APPEARED TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY. ONE MORNING THE BATTERY WAS DEAD EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A FAIRLY NEW BATTERY. I EXCHANGED FOR A NEW BATTERY AND IT WAS DEAD AGAIN ON ANOTHER MORNING SOON AFTER FOR NO VALID REASON. FROM THE START OF THE PROBLEMS TILL NOW-IT'S INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO START AT THE BEGINNING OF THE DAY AND THE VEHICLE STALLS OCCASIONALLY AFTER STARTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY. THE REPAIR SHOP SAYS THEY THINK IT IS THE TIPM, BUT SAYS THERE IS NO WAY TO SURE. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH SINCE THEN, IT APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM THAT KNOWN BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED YET FOR THIS VEHICLE. TWICE MY WIFE AND TWO SMALL CHILDREN HAVE BEEN STRANDED--I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE. I'M TOLD IT'S $700+ TO REPLACE. I HAVE FOUND DOORS UNLOCKED OR COMPLETELY OPEN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I'VE READ ONLINE THAT THE DEAD BATTERY THAT HAS HAPPENED HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER OWNERS AND WAS LINKED TO THE FUEL PUMP RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY. I SEE THAT A PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED IN THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND THE DURANGO AND THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FROM NOVEMBER 2013.

THE 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WAS THROWING A CODE FOR CYLINDER 2. AFTER WORK ONE NIGHT, THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY WAS DEAD. AFTER REPLACING THE COIL PACK AND PLUG ON CYLINDER 2 AND REPLACING THE BATTERY, THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN WHEN I PICKED IT UP FROM MY LOCAL MECHANIC. THE NEXT DAY, THE MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS CONTINUALLY RUNNING. THE TIPM WAS DEFECTED. THE COST FOR THE PART IS $600 WITHOUT LABOR. WHILE RESEARCHING FURTHER ON THE INTERNET, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE, AS WELL AS, OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES. I SPOKE TO CHRYSLER, THE WARRANTY ON THE ELECTRICAL EXPIRED IN 2014. AFTER REPAIRING THE PROBLEM, TEMPORARILY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIKE CAME ON WITH A MISFIRE ON THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD, AGAIN. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT IN A MONTH (EARLIEST APPOINTMENT FOR A WARRANTY, SINCE THE DEALERSHIP ONLY HAS 1 TECHNICIAN, CURRENTLY, THAT CAN REPAIR WARRANTIES) TO GET THE CYLINDER HEAD REPLACED. AT THE SAME TIME, THEY WILL ALSO FIX THE RECALL ON THE REAR WINDOW WING MOTORS (WHICH WAS RECALLED LAST SPRING BUT CHRYSLER DIDN'T SEND THE PARTS TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 3 MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL - WHICH I THEN FORGOT ABOUT). ALL IN ALL, IT HAS BEEN ONE BIG MESS. NOT TO MENTION THAT THE EXTERIOR MOLDING HAS BEEN PEELING OFF. MY BIGGEST SAFETY CONCERN IS THE TIPM. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, IT WAS NOTED THAT THIS CAN LEAVE YOU STRANDED (WHICH IT DID) AND ,IN SOME CASES, DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS FOR NO REASON. SAFETY WISE, THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME. ONCE I CAN GET THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE MODULE, I WILL BE FIXING IT. BUT, IN THE MEANTIME(SINCE I HAVE SPENT SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS IN THE OTHER "REPAIRS"), I WILL KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED THAT IT DOES NOT DO MYSELF OR OTHERS PHYSICAL HARM.

NOW IT NEVER WANTS TO START AND WILL SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I LOOSE ALL POWER INCLUDING STEERING. I KNOW WHEN THE POWER GOES OUT ON THE LIFT GATE THAT THE VAN IS NOT GOING TO START. MOST RECENTLY THE FUEL PUMP KEPT RUNNING WITH THE VAN SHUT OFF CAUSING THE BATTERY TO GO DEAD. IF IT DOESN'T SHORT OUT OR WHAT EVER IT DOES TO ACT COMPLETELY DEAD. I HAVE READ THAT I NEED TO REPLACE MY TIPM (TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) BUT THAT CHRYSTLER HASN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM. SO I WILL BASICALLY BE PAYING ABOUT $1200 FOR A NEW DEFECTIVE PART OR DRIVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE VAN AND HOPE I DON'T LOOSE ALL POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC!!

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,867.
MY GRAND CARAVAN HAS ISSUES STARTING, IT JUST CRANKS AND DOES NOT START. I HAD A DODGE MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT AND HE FOUND IT HAD THE COMMON ISSUE OF A BAD FUEL PUMP RELAY IN THE TIPM. THIS SAME ISSUE EXISTS IN THE DURANGO OF THE SAME YEAR AND IT HAS A RECAL, WHY TFK AREN'T THE CARAVANS INCLUDED. IT'S THE SAME FIX INSTALLING AN EXTERNAL RELAY BYPASSING THE ONE ON THE TIPM.

ON 7/03/2015 MY 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WITH 46000 MILES WAS HAVING STARTING, STALLING AND IDLE ISSUES. THROTTLE BODY WAS REPAIRED BY SHOP AND REFUNDED MONEY BECAUSE CAR STILL HAD SAME ISSUES. THE MECHANIC SAID TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WAS NOT KICKING OUT ANY CODES I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO WAIT FOR AN APPT UNTIL AUG 4TH. THE CAR WAS ACTING UP SO I WENT IN WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT ON 07/21/15 THEY SAID BECAUSE THE ISSUE WAS SO INTERMITTENT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS. ON 07/22/15 THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID THEY FOUND TWO ISSUES WITH THE VAN 1ST IT NEEDED THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD REPLACED AND 2ND THE TIPM UNIT WAS BAD. THE GOOD NEWS WAS THE CYLINDER HEAD WHICH WOULD HAVE COST $2000 WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE BAD NEWS WAS THE TIPM ( TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) WAS GOING TO COST $1100 TO FIX. THE WHOLE POINT OF BUYING A NEWER CAR WAS TO NOT HAVE THESE HUGE REPAIR BILLS. BUT IN ONE SHOT THIS VAN JUST COST $3600 IN REPAIRS THAT IS JUST INSANE, WHO HAS THIS KIND OF MONEY LAYING AROUND. THE SECOND THIS TIPM UNIT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH A LOT OF OTHER CARS MANUFACTURED BY CHRYSLER ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. I COULD NOT IMAGINE BEING STRANDED SOMEWHERE WITH MY FIVE CHILDREN OR GOD FORBID STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS TIPM SHOULD BE RECALLED NOT HAPPY WITH OUR CHOICE IN THIS VEHICLE ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE WRONG WITH THIS CAR I HAVE A HEAD AND TAIL LIGHT THAT ARE GETTING WATER INTO THEM. AC QUIT FUNCTIONING; AUTO REPAIR SHOP INFORMED ME THAT THE AC LINES RUN PARALLEL TO BRAKELINES, OFTEN RESULTING IN AC LINES THAT ARE COMPROMISED BY FRICTION. THE MECHANIC CONSIDERS THIS A "DESIGN FLAW" AND HAS SEEN IT IN NUMEROUS DODGE GRAND CARAVANS, BUT USUALLY OLDER MODELS AND/OR HIGHER MILEAGE THAN MINE. THE AC LINES ARE ALL PART OF A SINGULAR SYSTEM, SO THE PART NEEDS TO BE ORDERED FROM CHRYSLER (WHO IS BACKORDERED); I WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS AT LEAST A 2-DAY JOB TO INSTALL. ESTIMATED COST: $675.
WE HAVE HAD OUR 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN FOR 2 YEARS AND APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES. WE HAD TO HAVE THE TIPM REPLACED IN JULY 2015. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES THAT REQUIRED A TOW AS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START OR STAY RUNNING. THE TIPM BURNED THE FUEL PUMP OUT AND THAT WAS THE LAST STRAW. THE TIPM WAS REPLACED UNDER THE AFTER MARKET WARRANTY THAT WE PAID FOR BUT WHAT OTHER DAMAGE COULD THIS PART HAVE CAUSED TO OUR VEHICLE? IT CONTROLS EVERYTHING THE CAR DOES FOR THE MOST PART. WILL THERE BE AN INVESTIGATION OF THE DODGE TIPM? THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR ALL VEHICLES AFFECTED WHICH SEEMS TO BE QUITE A LOT.

WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS IGNITION MODULE AND IT WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $700.00 DOLLARS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME AND WHEN WE TRIED TO GO SOMEWHERE THE NEXT DAY, THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND THE KEY LOCKED UP IN THE IGNITION AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS JUMP STARTED AND WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT SAT FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS. WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO CRANK THE VEHICLE EVERYDAY WITH NO PROBLEM. WE WENT AND PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AND DROVE HOME.(WE LIVE ALMOST 3 HOURS AWAY). NEXT DAY SAME THING HAPPENED AND NOW WE ARE HAVING TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK FOR A 3RD TIME.
