TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE ABS FAILED AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE POWER STEERING SEIZED. ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) CONTROL MODULE. THERE'S WAS A RECALL FOR OUR 2012 DODGE JOURNEY WHICH THE PREVIOUS OWNERS TOOK CARE OF IN OCT 2015 (THE MONTH AND YEAR OF RECALL). WE PURCHASED IN 2017. A FEW TIME THE ABS LIGHT HAS COME ON BUT ONLY FOR A MINUTE OR 2 SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. TODAY 8/2/2019 IT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT AND (NO TRACTION LIGHT (THE SWIVELING CAR IMAGE LIGHT). WE HAVE HAD A LOT OF HEAVY RAIN. WE WHERE TOLD BY SERVICING STATION BY DIAGNOSTIC TEST IT WAS THE ABS CONTROL MODULE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION. AND IF WE DID NOT GET FIXED OUR BRAKES COULD LOCK UP AND SYSTEM FREEZE UP. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WAS CORRECTED IN PAST BUT IS NOW HAPPENING AGAIN. THESE LIGHTS CAME ON JUST AS WE STARED TO DRIVE. WHEN THE CAR WAS RESTING FOR 30 MINUTES AND I WAS LEAVING TO DRIVE TO SERVICE STATION THE BREAK PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH DOWN ( BREAK NEEDS TO BE PRESSED WITH TOUCH BUTTON START). I ALMOST COULDN'T START CAR. THE BREAK FINALLY SOFTENED AND I WAS ABLE TO PRESS DOWN TO START CAR. AT THAT POINT THE LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON FOR 5 MINUTES WHILE DRIVING BUT SADLY IT DID COME BACK. I FEEL WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT HAS COME UP AGAIN FROM A PREVIOUS RECALL. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN. IT WAS IN THE PAST AND SHOULD BE AGAIN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WIRING HARNESS EXITING REAR OF VEHICLE ENTERING INTO REAR HATCH SUPPLYING POWER TO OVERHEAD BRAKE LIGHT, LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS AND HATCH DOME LIGHT IS SEVERED INSIDE RUBBER SLEEVE. I CURRENTLY HAVE NO LIGHTS TO THE REAR HATCH. RUBBER SLEEVE SHOWS NO SIGN OF FATIGUE OR FAILURE BUT WIRES INSIDE ARE SEVERED. FOR SOME REASON DID NOT APPEAR TO HAVE BLOWN ANY FUSES WHICH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR ARCHING/FIRE. DESIGN/SAFETY FLAW? THE OVERHEAD REAR BRAKE LIGHT WAS INSTALLED FOR A REASON AND SHOULD WORK. I WOULD HAVE TRIED TO INSERT PICTURES BUT I DO NOT OWN A CAMERA. VIDEO LINK ACCURATELY DEPICTS ISSUE EXCEPT IN MY CASE I HAVE SEVERAL SEVERED WIRES. CURRENTLY ONLY THE REAR HATCH LOCK WORKS. COOLANT LEAK UNDER INTAKE.. REPAIR SHOP SAID HE HAD SAME IDENTICAL VEHICLE COME IN LESS THAN A MONTH AGO SAME CONCERN.. VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND COULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING AFTER HOURS OF LABOR SERVICE MANAGER SEALED AND REPLACED THE HOSE. BUT SAYS TO CHECK SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL SINCE HE HAD ANOTHER VEHICLE COME IN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I'VE SEEN THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE ABS UNFORTUNATELY MY VEHICLE WAS MADE A MONTH LATER. MY ABS LIGHT, BREAK LIGHT, AIR BAG LIGHT AND THE CAR SLIPPERY LIGHT IS ON.
ABS, AWD SERVICE , THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND STOP, HAVE TO TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY WOULD SUDDENLY FAIL INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO BE JUMPSTARTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED DISHMAN DODGE RAM CHRYSLER JEEP (LOCATED AT 7700 E SPRAGUE AVE, SPOKANE, WA 99212, 509-724-0024) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS A COMMON FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO PERMANENT REMEDY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 174,000.
ENGINE LIGHT MULTIPLE TIMES- EMISSIONS CONTROL - LAST TIME TO DEALER THEY STATED THERE IS 4 LEAKS. FOUND ONLINE BUT DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL: IN AFFECTED CARS, FCA WILL REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND UPDATE SOFTWARE FOR THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE ' THAT IS, YOUR CAR'S PRIMARY DRIVETRAIN COMPUTER. FCA WILL RECYCLE THE OLD CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO REMOVE THE PRECIOUS METALS COMMON IN SUCH DEVICES, A USUAL PRACTICE. 'OBVIOUSLY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, THAT'S THE BIGGEST PART OF THIS,' CHERNOBY SAID. THE REPLACEMENT CONVERTER HAS A 'DIFFERENT MIXTURE OF PRECIOUS METALS ' TO BE LESS SUSCEPTIBLE TO SULFUR IN THE FUEL,' HE ADDED. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF REPLACEMENT CATALYTIC CONVERTERS NEEDED, THE AUTOMAKER IS RECALLING CARS IN WAVES. YESTERDAY, WHILE WAITING AT A STOP SIGN MY 2012 JOURNEY SHUT OFF. I HAD NO IDEA IT HAD EVEN SHUT OFF! I PRESSED THE GAS TO GO AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. I WAS A LITTLE BAFFLED BECAUSE THE RADIO WAS STILL PLAYING. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND PRESSED THE IGNITION AND THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. THIS IS LATEST AND MOST UNSAFE ISSUE THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THIS CAR. THE RADIO RANDOMLY CHANGES STATIONS AND IT DOESN'T SHUT OFF WHEN THE CAR IS SHUT OFF. I HAVE TO TURN THE RADIO OFF BEFORE I TURN THE CAR OFF BECAUSE IT WILL CONTINUE TO PLAY. THIS STARTED ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO. THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND THE DRIVERS DOOR WAS OPENED, BUT THE RADIO KEPT PLAYING. IF I FORGET TO TURN IT OFF BEFORE THE IGNITION, I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR AND LET THE RADIO PLAY FOR A MIN OR SO BEFORE I CAN TURN IT OFF. ALSO, THE REAR AIR SUDDENLY COMES ON. WHEN I TURN IT OFF IT COMES BACK ON. IF IT'S SYNCED WITH THE FRONT AIR, IT WILL RANDOMLY GO TO THE HIGH SETTING. THE JOURNEY ALSO DOES A JERKING MOTION WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY OR NEIGHBORHOOD ROADS TOO. WE THOUGHT THAT MAYBE IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION, BUT WE HAD IT CHECKED AND IT'S FINE! AFTER YESTERDAY'S SUDDEN SHUTOFF, I'M WONDERING IF ALL THAT JERKING WAS A SIGN OF WHAT WAS TO COME. THE BRAKE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON FOR A FEW WEEKS AS WELL. I COULD BE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY AND THE BREAK LIGHT COMES ON. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, ACCELERATION OR DRIVING AT A CONSTANT SPEED. IT HAPPENS SO FREQUENTLY THAT MY KIDS ARE LIKE, HERE WE GO AGAIN BECAUSE WE, OUR BODIES, START JERKING WITH THE CAR. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW AT THE END OF 2011. I LOVED IT AT FIRST, BUT NOW I'M AFRAID TO PUT MY KIDS IN IT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. THERE ARE ISSUES WITH DIFF. MODEL YEARS, SO IF THE PROBLEMS ARE BEING FIXED ON SOME, IT SHOULD BE FIXED ON ALL. AFTER ALL, THE COMPANY MADE $ ON ALL OF THEM & OUR LIVES ARE VALUABLE
WHILE DRIVER THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON IN MY VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE SEATBELT HARNESS AND SENSOR.

AFTER PARKING THE CAR, GOING INTO A STORE AND RETURNING TO THE CAR - IT WOULD NOT START. THE PUSH BUTTON WOULD NOT WORK. NOTHING CAME UP ON THE SCREEN. I WAS STRANDED UNTIL SOMEONE GAVE ME A RIDE. AFTERWARDS, A MECHANIC CHECKED THE VEHICLE. HE SAID THAT THE ALTERNATOR IS GOOD, THE BATTERY IS GOOD, THE STARTER IS GOOD, ALL THE FUSES AND RELAYS ARE GOOD. HE SAID THAT THIS ISSUE SEEMED TO BE RELATED TO A PROBLEM IN THE COMPUTER. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN DODGE VEHICLES. I HAVE TRIED ALL OF THE TIPS THAT I CAN FIND ONLINE IN VIDEOS AND FORUMS, BUT THE CAR STILL WON'T START. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED ABOUT A MONTH AGO.

THE CONTACT WATCHED A YOUTUBE VIDEO AND TEMPORARILY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE BEFORE GOING TO THE DEALER. WHEN THE DEALER SAW THE REMEDY THAT WAS PERFORMED, THEY DID NOT SERVICE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,620.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY DRIVER SEAT HEAD REST RANDOMLY DEPLOYED. LUCKILY MY HEAD WAS NOT ON IT AT THE TIME AS I WAS LOOKING IN MY MIRRORS TO MOVE OVER A LANE ON THE INTERSTATE. IF MY HEAD HAD BEEN ON IT AND IT DEPLOYED, THERE'S NO TELLING WHAT COULD'VE HAPPENED, ESPECIALLY SINCE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD RUN INTO THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE IT WAS SO LOUD. THIS IS NOT SAFE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET FIXED, AND IT COST'S OVER $500 TO FIX IT. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY $500 TO FIX THAT. WHAT HAPPENS IF ANOTHER IS DEPLOYED? THIS NEEDS TO BE CHECKED AND FIXED ON ALL THESE VEHICLE AS IT IS NOT SAFE AND CAN RANDOMLY DEPLOY AT ANY TIME. PLEASE MAKE THIS A RECALL!
OVER THE LAST MONTH MY CAR WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN DIE WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. WHEN IT HAPPENS I LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I AM NOT ABLE TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. MY VEHICLE WILL GO FROM 65 MPH TO 0 MPH IN SECONDS AND STOP WHERE I MAY BE. IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIME ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS WEEK IT STARTED TO HAPPEN WHILE ON MAIN ROADS. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON FOR A SHORT TIME AND THE CAR WILL CONTINUE TO TRY AND RESTART ITSELF BUT BY THE TIME I GET THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF AND NOT DIAGNOSTIC CODES ARE FOUND. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THE DEFECT IS UNKNOWN.
THIS VEHICLE HAS ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE DOORS LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE TAILGATE IS OPENED. THE RADIO AND CLIMATE CONTROL COME ON BY THEMSELVES EVEN AFTER TURNING IT OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. THE STEERING MAKES A WHINING NOISE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE TURNING TO THE LEFT. THE AWD AND TRACTION CONTROL IS OFF AND THE SERVICE AWD LIGHT COMES ON. THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD "THUMP" IN THE REAR END AND ALL THE TRACTION AND AWD DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. ALL THESE PROBLEMS ARE EVIDENT AND OCCUR WHILE DRIVING.

THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOHN L SULLIVAN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (950 HARTER PKWY, YUBA CITY, CA 95993, (530) 742-6406), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO A LOCAL DEALER. ADDITIONALLY, A SPECIALIST WOULD BE SENT TO REVIEW THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY MAKING A LOUD ABNORMAL HUMMING SOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,269. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY GARAGE FOR THE WEEKEND IT WON'T START. IT SAYS THE KEY FOB IS NOT DETECTED OR IT'S SO DEAD IT WON'T SHOW ANYTHING AT ALL. I GET IT TO START AFTER GETTING JUMPED. IT TAKES ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF BEING HOOKED UP BEFORE IT'S CHARGED ENOUGH TO START. THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY BUT THE BATTERY IS BRAND NEW. MY MECHANIC HAS CHECKED IT MULTIPLE TIMES BUT CAN'T FIND ANY ISSUES. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!!!!! WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH DODGE JOURNEYS???? IT HAS HAPPENED SO MANY TIMES KNOW, IT'S JUST RIDICULOUS!
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST TWO OR THREE MONTHS, MY VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER, AND AT SAME TIME THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND BRAKES HAVE TO PUSHED EXTRA HARD TO GET THEM TO WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING UNDER 40 MPH IN TOWN. IT HAS HAPPENED MOST OFTEN WITHIN THE FIRST 5 MINUTES OF STARTING THE CAR, BUT TODAY IT HAPPENED AFTER I HAD BEEN DRIVING 30 MINUTES ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEN IN TOWN FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN SLOWING DOWN, WHEN ACCELERATING, OR WHEN GOING STABLE SPEED, AS WELL AS BEFORE A TURN, AFTER A TURN, OR WHILE GOING STRAIGHT. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND STOP, PUT CAR IN PARK, AND RESTART IT. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL CAR REPAIR SHOP TWICE, AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AFTER HOOKING IT TO THEIR COMPUTER. THE CAR HAS 87,756 MILES ON IT. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS UNSAFE, AND I'M WORRIED IT COULD HAPPEN AT A DANGEROUS INTERSECTION OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE SEPTEMBER 2017. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE REPAIR SHOP TWICE FOR THIS NOT STARTING PROBLEM. IT STARTS WHEN IT WANTS TO. IF YOU TRY AND START IT IT CAN TAKE ANYWHERE FROM 2 MINUTES TO 2 HOURS TO FINALLY DECIDE TO START. I'VE TRIED TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO START BUT THAT DON'T WORK EITHER!!! THIS CAR IS A PIECE OF CRAP THAT I HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR. CHRYSLER IS WRONG. THEY KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAIN. I'M OVER IT!!!!
MOTOR BURNED UP CAUSE OF A PIN HOLE LEAK FROM THE RADIATOR THAT WENT INTO THE MOTOR, MIXED WITH THE OIL, BEING OVERHEATED
THIS ISSUE OCCURRED REGARDLESS IF THE CAR WAS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. IT ALSO OCCURRED IF THE MOTOR WAS TURNED ON OR NOT. THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT WAS OUT, BUT IT WAS NOT A BULB ISSUE. THE CENTER REAR BRAKE LIGHT (ON THE TAILGATE) WAS OUT, BUT IT WAS NOT A BULB ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE TAILGATE WIPER WOULD NOT RETURN TO THE HOME POSITION WHEN TURNED OFF. IT WOULD REMAIN WHEREVER IT WAS WHEN THE SWITCH WAS TURNED OFF. THIS WAS A VISIBILITY ISSUE. THE KEY-LESS ENTRY FOB WOULD NOT UNLOCK THE CAR DOORS. THIS WAS NOT A FOB BATTERY ISSUE. THIS WAS VERY PROBLEMATIC FOR PASSENGER DOORS WHICH COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE CAR. THIS WAS BROUGHT TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR. THEY DIAGNOSED THE CAR WITH HAVING SPLIT WIRES IN THE LIFT GATE. I AM CONCERNED THAT SPLIT WIRES COULD HAVE CAUSED A SHORT AND EVENTUALLY A FIRE. ADDITIONALLY, A SHORT COULD HAVE CAUSED OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS OF THE CAR TO FAIL WHILE IN MOTION.

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE WILL LOOSE ALL POWER. IF I'M GOING OVER 45 IT USUALLY RESTARTS ITSELF. IF UNDER 40 THE STEERING LOCKS UP, ALL ELECTRICAL SHUTS DOWN AND I CANNOT GET HAZARD LIGHTS OR PULL OVER. I CAN THROW IT INTO NEUTRAL AND HIT THE PUSH-TO-START AND IT RESTARTS. SOMETIMES, LIKE AT STOPLIGHTS, I HAVE HAD TO THROW IT INTO PARK THEN RESTART IT. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW INSTANCES OF IT NOT RESTARTING NO MATTER WHAT WE TRY. THROUGH TRIAL AND ERROR WE GOT IT TO START AGAIN AFTER SERIOUS ROCKING. I HAVE NOTICED IT HAPPENS MORE IF THE USB PORT OR AUX PORT ARE BEING USED, ALTHOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES WITHOUT THOSE BEING TOUCHED. HAS ONLY BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE MAJORITY OF THE FUNCTIONS WITH MY ON-BOARD ENTERTAINMENT UNIT WENT OUT. DEALERSHIP CAN NOT DIAGNOSE, SAY THEY CANNOT GET THE PROBLEM TO DUPLICATE. I HAVE VIDEOS OF THIS HAPPENING BUT DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN INTERESTED IN SEEING THEM.

I HAD A ABS LIGHT AND ESC LIGHT APPEAR, PULLED INTO GAS STATION. APPROACHED THE FUEL PUMPS AND PRESSED THE BRAKES AND SLID ON THE ICY PAVEMENT (SNOWY MICHIGAN) INTO THE GAS PUMP PROTECTORS MADE OF CONCRETE. COULDN'T CONTROL THE VEHICLE @~8MPH SLIGHTLY TURNED APPROACHING A GAS PUMP ON WET/ICY CONCRETE.
RADIO GOES OUT AND VEHICLE NOT ABLE TO BE USED ALL CONTROLS IN HEAD UNIT COMPLAINED ABOUT IT 6 TIMES AND STILL NOTHING CANT OPERATE LIGHTS AND SAFETY EQUIPTMENT
I HAVE CHANGED MY KEY FOB 3 TIMES AND GOT A NEW BATTERY AND IT STILL SAY KEY IS NOT DETECTED. I HAVE TO GET A JOB EVERY 3 MONTHS TO GET MY CAR STARTED.
H20 SENSOR WHEN TURNING BUTTON TO HEAT UP CAR IT DOESNT WORK
COOLANT WAS LOW SO IT WAS FILLED WITH COOLANT. THE RESERVOIR WAS LOW AGAIN THE VERY SAME DAY AND THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING (AS WELL AS THE AC NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND BLEW HOT AIR EVEN WHEN USING COLD) ON THE HIGHWAY, BARELY MAKING IT TO DESTINATION. THE FIRST DIAGNOSIS WAS AN AIR VACUUM CAUSED A LEAK. THE PROBLEM KEEPS REOCCURRING AFTER THE SUPPOSED FIX.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
THE 4 CYLINDER ENGINE ON MY 2012 DODGE JOURNEY DEVELOPED AN ENGINE COOLANT LEAK. TROUBLE SHOOTING FOUND THE LEAK TO BE RELATED TO DETERIORATION OF A PLASTIC PART INSIDE THE ENGINE...DODGE PART# 68003582...ADAPTER C. THE CAR WAS STANDING WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED. IF I HAD NOT HAD THE PART REPLACED A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE COOLANT LEAK COULD HAVE OCCURRED WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN, LEADING TO A FULL LOSS OF COOLANT, OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE AND SEIZING OF THE ENGINE. I TALKED WITH DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED AWARENESS OF THE PROBLEM.THE CAR HAS 89,000 MILES. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM.
WHEN OPENING THE BACK HATCH, ALL THE DOORS WILL RANDOMLY LOCK OR UNLOCK. THE HATCH LIGHT DOES NOT WORK. THE REAR WINDOW, BACK HATCH, WIPER CLEANER WILL NOT WORK. ATTACHED IS A PICTURE OF THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE BACK HATCH. ALL THE WIRES HAVE BEEN CUT JUST FROM REGULAR OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE HATCH DUE TO THE FACT WHERE IT IS LOCATED AND THAT WHEN THE HATCH IS CLOSED IT BENDS ALL THAT WIRING IN HALF. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURE AT LEAST 5 ARE COMPLETELY BROKEN AND MANY MORE ARE ALMOST COMPLETELY CUT.
MYSELF AND MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN WERE DRIVING DOWN A PRETTY DARK HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 10 PM. 3 HOURS FROM HOME. IN A STORM AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. WHEN I GAVE IT GAS THE ENGINE JUST REVVED. LOST ALL POWER INCLUDING WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND POWER STEERING I QUICKLY DROPPED FROM 75 TO 40 WITH SEMIS BARRELING UP BEHIND ME AS I WAS TRYING TO GET TO A SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ON. CAR DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. WE WERE STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR 5 HOURS WITH NO HEAT AND NO POWER TO THE CAR. EVEN CALLLED ROADSIDE AND THEY TRIED TO JUMP IT. IT WOULD START BUT THEN GO HAYWIRE AGAIN. BATTERY LIGHT AND ETC AS WELL AS ALL OTHERS LIGHTS COME ON. IT HAS LEFT ME AND MY KIDS IN THE COLD MORE THAN ONCE. NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW THE PROBLEM AS THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ARE TESTING FINE. VEHICLE IS NOW SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY AND WON'T DO ANYTHING. AT ALL.
LIFT GATE WIRING HARNESS BECOMES WEAK AND BRITTLE CAUSING WIRING TO FAIL. THIS WIRING FEEDS ALL LIGHTS AND FUNCTIONALITY ON THE READ LIFT GATE. DEALERS WILL REPAIR WHICH LAST A SHORT WHILE UNTIL FAILURE AGAIN.
MY CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.

6 WEEKS AGO THE AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT APPEARED IN MY CAR. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (LAFONTAINE IN LANSING, MI) AND THEY TOOK A LOOK AT IT. THEY DISCOVERED THE WIRING BETWEEN THE SENSOR AND THE AIRBAG HAD CORRODED. IN SEPTEMBER 26, 2017, OUR CAR'S HEATER CORE EXPLODED ON US AFTER BEING INSTALLED IMPROPERLY EARLIER IN 2017 BY WYSUP CHRYSLER IN PULLMAN, WASHINGTON. IT POURED BOILING HOT WATER AND ANTIFREEZE ON MY HUSBAND WHILE HE WAS DRIVING THE CAR. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE CORRODED WIRING, BUT DODGE REFUSES TO FIX IT. WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR OVER A MONTH NOW AS WE SIT AND WAIT TO SEE IF DODGE CORPORATE, THE BBB, OR THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE OF WASHINGTON STATE WILL HELP US. THE COST TO FIX OUR AIRBAG SENSOR IS $1500.
WATER LEAKS FROM THE HOOD BY THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT ON TO THE BATTERY CAUSING THE TERMINALS TO CORRODE OVER TIME. POOR DESIGN FLAW THAT LEFT ME HAVING TO CANCEL A TRIP.

THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,600.
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I TRIED TURNING ON THE CAR AND IT WOULDN'T TURN ON. ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WORK, IT LOCKS AND UNLOCKS WITH KEY, ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING WORKS FINE BUT WON'T TURN ON EVEN AFTER REPLACING WITH A NEW BATTERY. THIS ISSUE IS RIDICULOUS AND DODGE NEEDS TO FIX IT ASAP. I WILL NEVER BUY DODGE AGAIN.
