I'M NOT SURE WHERE THIS FALLS UNDER SINCE I NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE UNTIL THIS PAST SUNDAY. MY HATCH/TRUNK AREA OPENED ONE MINUTE AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN IT AGAIN IT DID NOT OPEN. THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN IT AND THERE IS NO EMERGENCY LATCH, SWITCH OR ANYTHING TO OPEN IT FROM THE INSIDE. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. ANY ADVICE WILL BE APPRECIATED.

WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND RADIO AND HEATER WENT OFF. SHE TOOK IT TO OREILLYS AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE ALTENATOR. I REPLACED THE ALTENATOR AND THE HEATER OR DEFROSTER STILL WILL NOT WORK AND THE BATTERY LIGHT IS STILL ON. WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE COMPUTER WITH THIS CAR. THE TURN SIGNALS WERE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY WHEN YOU TURNED ON THE LEFT SIGNAL THE RIGHT SIGNAL WOULD COME ON. REALLY DISSAPOINTED IN THIS CAR AT THIS TIME AND DODGE
ON NOVEMBER 11,2015, WE WERE TRAVELING FROM HOME TO A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT FOR A SURGICAL PROCEDURE. WE WERE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 65, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, GOING AROUND 70 MPH WHEN VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED, ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON, AND VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. WE WERE IN THE RIGHT LANE AND ABLE TO COAST OFF THE HIGHWAY AND AVOID BEING HIT. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD IT. THEY WERE ABLE TO CRANK THE VEHICLE AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONCERNS WE PUSHED THEM TO CHECK FURTHER AND THEY THEN SAID THERE WERE A COUPLE OF SENSORS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR & CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR). WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THOSE. THE VEHICLE IS A FAMILY VEHICLE THAT IS USED REGULARLY TO TRANSPORT CHILDREN AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS. THERE IS A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN WITH A VEHICLE THAT WOULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER, WITH NO WARNING, AND COULD LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. DODGE SHOULD RECALL UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINTER 2015-2016 I HAD TO REPLACE MY RADIATOR DUE TO A SMALL CRACK THAT DEVELOPED. MY HEAT STARTED TO MALFUNCTION THE FOLLOWING WINTER 2016-2017 IT ONLY WORKED PART OF THE TIME. STARTING IN THE FALL OF 2017 MY HEAT WENT OUT COMPLETELY. WE TOOK IT IN TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE HEATER CORE, COME TO FIND OUT THAT SINCE THE HEATER CORE IS INSTALLED AT AN ANGLE IT DOESN'T DRAIN THE SLUDGE PROPERLY. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT MY AIR CONDITIONING WILL TURN ON AT RANDOM. I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHEN THIS STARTED, BUT IT WILL TURN ON BY ITSELF. JUST THIS MORNING 8/13/18 MY AIR TURNED ON 15 TIMES, AFTER BEING SHUT OFF EVERY TIME. I'M WONDERING IF THIS IS SOMETHING WRONG ELECTRONICALLY. OUR AWD JOURNEY HAD TO HAVE THE BACK DRIVER SIDE BRAKING SYSTEM FIXED AT AROUND 35000 MILES. THIS INCLUDED REPLACING THE CALIPER AND BRAKE LINE. NOW AT 38000 THE BRAKE IS STICKING ON THE BACK DRIVER SIDE AND WILL HAVE TO BE WORKED ON AGAIN. THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY AND HIGHWAYS. IT HAPPENS WHEN IT IS BOTH A CURVY AND STRAIGHT ROAD.

A RECALL WAS SUBMITTED ON JULY 28, 2015. I LOOKED ONLINE TODAY. I HAVE BEEN SMELLING A SMOKE SMELL, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL AUGUST 15, 2015 STATING THE ENGINE BEAUTY COVER ON MY VEHICLE MAY DETACH FROM THE ENGINE AND COME IN CONTACT WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND START A FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE PART TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS NOT AVAILABLE AND I WILL BE CONTACTED AT ANOTHER TIME WHEN A REPAIR PART IS AVAILABLE. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY SMALL CHILDREN AND MYSELF. I WAS USING THE SCISSOR JACK PROVIDED WITH THE VEHICLE TO REMOVE A FLAT LEFT FRONT TIRE WHILE PARKED IN MY GARAGE. THE FLOOR WAS FLAT AND COMPLETELY DRY AND FREE OF ANY OILY CONDITIONS. THE SHIFT LEVER WAS IN PARK, THE BRAKE SET.I POSITIONED THE JACK AS OUTLINED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. I THEN BROKE THE 5 LUG NUTS LOOSE PRIOR TO RAISING THE VEHICLE. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT USING THE JACK AS IT SEEMED TO BE STRAINING TO RAISE THE SUV. I FINALLY GOT IT RAISED TO A LEVEL TO CLEAR THE TIRE FROM THE FLOOR SURFACE. I REMOVED THE TIRE AND JUST AS I DID THIS THE JACK COLLAPSED AND THE VEHICLE DROPPED. THE FENDER WELL JUST BARELY MISSED CRUSHING MY HAND. I TOOK PHOTOS OF THE CONDITION AFTER IT FELL. I REMOVED THE JACK AND THE FRAME WAS TWISTED AND THE LIFTING SCREW WAS BENT. THE JACK DOES NOT HAVE ANY LOAD RATING OR CERTIFICATION MARKINGS. ALL IT SAYS IS 'MADE IN MEXICO' THE FOOT PRINT PAD IT SETS ON LOOKS TOO SMALL TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE SUPPORT. I BROUGHT THE INCIDENT UP TO CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVES AND THEY JUST MADE WHAT SEEMED TO BE ARBITRARY REMARKS THE ' I MUST HAVE DONE SOME THING WRONG' IN THE PROCESS.MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE ORIGINAL FACTORY WARRANTY BUT THEY SAID I WILL HAVE TO PAY A $500.00 DEDUCTIBLE. IF THIS JACK FAILED ON A FLAT CONCRETE FLOOR IMAGINE TRYING TO USE THIS DEVICE AND A ANGULAR, GRAVELED ROAD SHOULDER. THIS COULD LEAD TO SOMEONE BEING SERIOUSLY INJURED IN THE FUTURE.

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHICH CONTROLS YOUR ABILITY TO TURN ON RADIO, TAPE PLAYER, AND HEATING/AIR CONDITIONING HAS GONE OUT. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN NOVEMBER 2013, AND IT'S UNFORTUNATE FOR ME THAT I DID. ANOTHER FAILURE OF THIS AUTOMOBILE IS WHEN IT RAINS HEAVILY, MY BACK DOORS FILL WITH RAIN WATER. YOU CAN HEAR IT INSIDE OF THE DOORS. IT MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT THE CAR WAS IN SOME TYPE OF FLOODING CONDITION. MY BACK WHEEL ON THE DRIVE'S SIDE ALSO HAS A BROWNISH-RED TINGE THAT APPEARS TO BE RUST. I AM DISAPPOINTED. DID I SEE THE CORRECT REPORT OF THE RELIABILITY OF THE CAR? WHEN YOU PLACE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND START, OR USE ANY OF THE MODES ON THE IGNITION, THE SCREEN WAS CONSTANTLY STATING, "LOADING," AND IT TURNED BLACK AND IS OUT. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE IN 2014 AND I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE IT WAS JUST A GLITCH, BUT IT ISN'T.

IN DOING SO MY HUSBAND TRIED TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE CAR BUT ENDED UP VEERING OFF THE ROAD INTO SOMEONE'S YARD WHERE WE HIT A TREE HEAD ON THEN SKIDDED ACROSS THEIR DRIVEWAY AND CRASHED THROUGH THEIR PRIVACY FENCE AND LANDED NOSE DOWN INTO THEIR INGROUND SWIMMING POOL. AND AT NO POINT DID OUR AIRBAGS DEPLOY. WE WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS BUT I ACTUALLY HAD TO GO THE LOCAL URGENT CARE FOR HEAD INJURY AND MY HUSBAND IS SEEING A DR FOR BACK INJURY. OUR HEADRESTS HAD A MECHANISM THAT DEPLOYS IN ACCIDENTS. THAT WAS ALL THAT WORKED. THANK GOD NOBODY WAS IN THE POOL BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE POLICE WERE CALLED AND A REPORT FILED.

WHEN GOING TO THE PASSANGER SIDE OF MY VEHICLE THE SMELL WAS STRONGER, AT THAT TIME I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM MY REAR PASSANGER TIRE AREA. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO TWO SEPERATE MECHANICS, INCLUDING THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR AND HAVE BEEN TOLD DIFFERENT THINGS AS TO WHAT EXACTLY IS WRONG. I ALSO HAPPEN TO BE 4 DAYS AWAY FROM MY WARRANTY EXPIRING AND HAVE A FEELING THAT MAY BE CAUSING THE DIFFERENCE IN DIAGNOSIS. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH CHRYSLER DIRECTLY AND ALSO HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MY WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER ANYTHING IF THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE BY TUESDAY (THE 28TH AND LAST VALID DAY OF MY WARRANTY) EVEN THOUGH THE COMPLAINT AND DIAGNOSIS HAD BEEN MADE TODAY. I HAVE BEEN AWARE OF A RECALL ON OTHER 2012 DODGE JOURNEY'S BUT ACCORDING TO VARIOUS RECALL INFORMATION SITES MY VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL IN THE MANUFACTURING DATE RANGE WHICH I DO NOT BELIEVE SHOULD BE EXCLUDED SINCE IT IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AS WHAT THE RECALL WAS PUT OUT FOR. BETWEEN BOTH MECHANICS I HAVE BEEN TOLD BRAKE PADS NEED REPLACED, ROTORS NEED RESURFACED AND/OR REPLACED, AND ONE OF THE MECHANICS EXPRESSED THAT THERE WAS EITHER A CALIPER ISSUE OR BRAKE LINE ISSUE WHICH WOULD BE CAUSING THE BURNING AND SMOKING (MY VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 24K MILES ON IT.) DODGE HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ISSUE WHICH IS COVERED BY MY WARRANTY AND THE WARRANTY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT UNLESS DODGE SAYS THE CALIPER/BRAKE LINE HAS AN ISSUE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V675000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND 11V550000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. I ENSURED THAT THE SAFETY BRAKE WAS NOT SET AND THAT THE CAR WAS INDEED IN REVERSE. THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE AND THE SAFETY BRAKE WAS NOT SET. I GAVE THE CAR A LITTLE EXTRA ACCELERATION AND IT FELT LIKE I RAN OVER SOMETHING. I LEARNED THAT THE REAR BRAKES SEIZED. I'M NOT SURE, BUT I BELIEVE THAT THIS CAN COMPROMISE THE BRAKING ABILITY OF THE CAR. IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS AN INDENTATION IN THE ROTORS FROM WHERE THE BRAKE PADS 'SET.'
