2012 DODGE JOURNEY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO STEERING ISSUES, FUEL LEAKS AND BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED UPON PICKING THE VEHICLE UP FROM THE DEALER, IT WAS LEAKING GAS WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE STALLED. ALSO, THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING.*JB.....UPDATED 02/11/16 *BF UPDATED 9/27/2017*CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR ENDED OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE SHOULDER AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED CUTS IN THE HANDS. BOTH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS AWAITING INSPECTION FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
THE 2012 JOURNEY WAS BEING USED TO JUMPSTART A 1997 F 350 FORD TRUCK. THE F 350 WAS NOT RUNNING WHILE THE JOURNEY WAS. JUMPER CABLES WERE ATTACHED CORRECTLY. THE WOMEN JUMPING THE CAR WENT INTO THE HOUSE FOR A MOMENT WHEN SHE HEARD AN EXPLOSION AND THE ROAR OF THE FIRE. THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE WINDSHIELD WAS BLOW OUT AND FLAMES REACHED 12 FEET INTO THE AIR. AFTER THE FIRE TRUCK PUT OUT THE BLAZE, THE HOOD HAD VAPORIZED . THE CAR WAS REPORTED AS A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE HEAT FROM THE FIRE WAS SO INTENSE IT IGNITED THE F 350. IT TOO WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. I DO NOT KNOW THE CAUSE OF THE EXPLOSION IN THE JOURNEY. THE FIRE CAPTAINS REPORT STATES THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE WAS THE 2012 DODGE JOURNEY. I BELIEVE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH WOULD OCCUR IF A PERSON IS NEARBY OR SITTING IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
TAMARA RECALL- MY VEHICLE ISN'T LISTED ON THE RECALL, HOWEVER, MY AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND DINGS CONSTANTLY. IT IS WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN WHEN TURNING CORNERS OR WHEN BACKING UP. ALSO, MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS MESSED UP AS WELL. SOMETIMES MY CHARGING OUTLETS WORK AND SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. THIS BEGAN TO OCCUR AFTER MY MOTOR WAS REPLACED AT 17,000 MILES BY THE DODGE DEALER BECAUSE IT HAD A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THERE WERE HOLES IN THE METAL OF THE MOTOR AND OIL WAS SEEPING OUT OF IT. NOW I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER, THE RADIO, ALL CHARGING PORTS, THE CRUISE CONTROL, AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMING ON RANDOMLY. THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER ALWAYS SAYS EVERYTHING IS FINE WHEN I TAKE IT IN, BECAUSE THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHEN IT IS IN THE SHOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE, WHICH WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,286.
BOTH REAR BRAKES WORE DOWN TO THE METAL AND CUT INTO MY ROTORS. THE BRAKE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON,NO SCRAPPING OR SQUEALING. THERE SHOULD BE A SENSOR THAT DETECTS WHEN BRAKES ARE GETTING LOW. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE MY FAMILIES LIFE IS IN JEOPARDY;AS WELL AS MINE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY DASHBOARD STARTED TO FLICKER. I COULDN'T INCREASE MY SPEED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN ON ITS OWN ACCORD. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I WAS ABLE TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, BUT UNABLE TO TURN THE ACCESSORIES OFF. MY RADIO REMAINED ON ALONG WITH THE DASHBOARD.I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE IGNITION. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND MY CAR WAS BROUGHT TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER, CORTESE CHRYSLER/DODGE. THE NEXT DAY THEY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR FREE OF CHARGE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN WHEN MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
THE THERMAL STAT HOUSING HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES. THE OIL PAN GASKET DOES LOT LAST. THE ALTERNATOR HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES. THE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE IN THE SB PORT BUT ONLY SEEMED TO WORKED WHEN IT WAS TAKEN TO DEALER. THE HEAD REST DEPLOYED WHEN NO ONE WAS IN THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH AND SLOWING DOWN THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE WOULD NOT RELEASE WHICH RESULTED IN SMOKE, OVERHEATING OF THE WHEEL AREA AND SMELL OF BURNING BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS REVIEWED BY A DODGE DEALER WHO INDICATED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. THIS HAPPEN TWO MORE TIMES WITH THE SAME OUTCOME FROM DODGE. CHRYSLER SUPPORTS THE DEALER AND WILL NOT TAKE ANY ACTIONS. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH THE STATES ATTORNEYS OFFICE BECAUSE IT REPRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE. MEANTIME, I AM TAKING THE CAR TO ANOTHER CHRYSLER DEALER FOR A SECOND OPINION WHICH SEEMS TO BE MY ONLY OPTION. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V082000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A BOULDER AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED SHOULDER, CHEST, NECK, AND HEAD INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
I LEFT DALLAS,TEX. SUNDAY,JULY,20TH.HEADED TO LONG BEACH,CA. MY SUV STOPPED APPROX. 4 TIMES.THERE WAS LIKE A KNOCKING SOUND OR A JOLT BEFORE EACH STOP. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS ON THE DASHBOARD, NO STEAM FROM UNDER THE HOOD EITHER, BUT I NOTICED WHEN I ALLOWED IT TO SET IDLE FOR APPROX. 5MINS. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD,NOTHING APPEARED TO BE WRONG.THE SUV RESTARTED.THIS WAS REPEATED 3 MORE TIMES.I ARRIVED IN LONG BEACH,CA. AT APPROX.11:30A.M. WEDNESDAY,I DROVE TO LAS VEGAS, NO PROBLEMS! RETURNING FROM THERE TO CA., IT STOPPED AGAIN IN BAKER,CA. IT WAS TOWED TO BARSTOW,CA. THE TOWER AND THE MECHANICS AT THE 76 GAS STATION COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM, BECAUSE NO LIGHTS APPEARED IN THE DASHBOARD. I HAD TO SLEEP AT THE STATION OVERNIGHT IN MY VEHICLE. I POURED GAS TREATMENT FLUID IN TANK. IT SEEMED TO HELP. THE NEXT MORNING I RETURNED TO LONG BEACH WITH NO PROBLEMS. I HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT YET. I WAS INFORMED ABOUT AN OIL LEAK FROM THE OIL PAN GASKET DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. THE TECH INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH NEWER DODGE VEHICLES. I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE DEALER AND CORPORATE OFFICE WITH NO SATISFACTION OF MY CONCERNS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD THIS AWFUL SQUEALING SOUND. AS I SPED UP IT WOULD GO AWAY THEN WHEN I STOPPED AT A LIGHT IT WAS REALLY LOUD. SINCE THEN WHEN I STOP OR GO IT NOW MAKES A GRINDING SOUND. I NOTICED YESTERDAY AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 10MILES THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM MY BACK TIRES. WE ARE TAKING IT IN TONIGHT TO GET IT LOOKED AT. NOT REAL HAPPY WHEN THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 2YRS OLD. *JS

THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE EMERGENCY LANE FOR TWENTY FIVE MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS IN THE PROPER POSITION. FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS HOT AND SMOKE AGAIN EMITTED UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR FAN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,546. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
ON 5/10/2014 DRVING AS NORMAL MY CAR BEGIN TO MAKE A LOUD NOISE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKED ON AND OFF A COUPLE OF TIMES THEN WENT OUT. BUT THE MOTOR DOUND LIKE IT WAS IDLING LOUDER N LOUDER. ONCE I GOT HOMEALL THE DEALERSHIP WERE CLOSED DO I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY. SO ONCE I GET UP YO DRIVE ON MONDAY NO ISSUES AT ALL. BUT THE DRIVE WAS VERY RUGGED. SO I TOOK MY CAR IN EVEN THOUGH NO LIGHTS ARE ON AND THE COULDN'T DETECT ANYTHING WRONG. PICK MY CAR UP DROVE OK UNTIL I WENT TO WORK THE NEXT DAY LIGHT BACK ON NOW IM AT A POINT WHERE I DON'T KMOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. SO TODAY TO MY CAR IN WAS ADVISED THAT THEY UPDATED MY COMPUTER SYSTEM IN THE CAR. BUT NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG. TRANSMISSION? TUNE UP? OR JUST A BAD CAR. AND IF THERE IS A RECALL THAT WAS PLACED OUT BEFORE IBOUGHT MY CAR I NEED IT FIXED. *TR
I GOT THE CAR BRAND NEW ON 2012. THE CAR NOW HAS 17000 MILES, THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE TIRES WHEN THE CAR HAD 15000. AT SPEED OVER 50M I FEEL SHAKING IN THE TIRES, AND FEEL THAT THE CAR IS NOT STABLE AND NOT GRIPED TO THE WAY, ALSO THE CAR ALWAYS SLIDES ON CURVES SPECIALLY IF THE ROAD IS WET , EVEN IF VERY SLIGHTLY WET AND ON LOW SPEED. ALL MAINTENANCE TO THE TIRES INCLUDING ROTATION AND ALLIGNMENT USED TO BE DONE ON TIME AT THE DEALER. WHEN I INFORMED THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY TOLD ME THAT I MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE THE TIRES, AND ADDED THAT THE TIRES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE CAR WARRANTY AND THAT I HAVE TO CONTACT THE TIRES MANUFACTURE FOR ANY AVAILABLE COVERAGE. I CONTACTED THE TIRES MANUFACTURE WHICH INFORMED ME THAT THESE TIRES HAS NO MILAGES WARRANTY, AND ADDED THAT THESE TIRES ARE SPECIALLY MADE FOR DODGE UNDER THEIR REQUESTED STANDARDS WHICH IS LESS QUALITY THAN THOSE AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT MIGHT RESULT IN SEVERE ACCIDENTS FOR THE DODGE JOURNEY CREW DRIVERS. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR, A VIBRATION WAS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE REPROGRAMMING WAS PERFORMED BUT THE DEFECT CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
MY 2012 DODGE JOURNEY REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER IS ACTING UP. IT WON'T START UNLESS THE WIPER SWITCH IS OFF AND THE CAR IS IN REVERSE. IT WILL NOT WORK IF I HAVE THE SWITCH ON. ALSO, I HAVE ONE TAIL LIGHT THAT'S BOTHERSOME. IF I OPEN ANY OF MY DOORS, ALL OF THE TAIL LIGHTS WORK. WHEN I TURN MY LIGHTS ON, ONE OF MY TAIL LIGHTS APPEARS TO BE OUT ALONG WITH MY LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS. I'M NOT SURE WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
THE FIRST TIME I TOOK FOR INSPECTION AT DEALERSHIP, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON. THEY SAID CODE WAS 6TH CYLINDER AND RESET, AND HAD TO COME BACK NEXT DAY. IT RECENTLY CAME ON AGAIN AND NOW HAVE TO TAKE BACK TO SHOP, BECAUSE THE POWER AND ENGINE HESITATES, HAS ISSUES GOING UP HILLS, AND SCARES ME ON LONG RIDES. IT IS NOW PAST THE 35,000 MILE AND INTO MY EXTRA WARRANTY I PAID FOR. TIRES ALL WEAR BADLY TOO, CAR NEEDS FULL ALIGNMENT. HOPING THEY WILL NOT JUST RESET AND ACTUAL FIX THE 6TH CYLINDER, UNFORTUNATELY THE LIGHT COMES AND GOES. ITS NOT THE TIRES THAT ARE A PROBLEM, IT IS THE BAD ALIGNMENT CAUSING IT TO WEAR WRONG. TIRES AREN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, SO THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO LEAVE THE CAUSE OF THE DEFECT UNFIXED SO EVERY NEW TIRE YOU PUT ON GETS RUINED. IF THEY FIX 6TH CYLINDER WILL LET YOU KNOW, BUT BE CAREFUL, LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING AND THE HESITATION IS TERRIFYING WITH KIDS IN CAR. *TR
LEFT FRONT WHEEL HUB NUT LOOSENED, CAUSING A CLUNKING NOISE ON ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. WAS RE-TIGHTENED TO SPEC TO ELIMINATE THE ISSUE. *TR

NEARLY BALD TIRES AFTER 24,000 MILES AND TWO YEARS. NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP OR THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF ANY KIND. GOT STUCK IN VERY LOW LEVELS OF SNOW, SLIDE IN WET CONDITIONS, ETC. KUMHO TIRES TOLD ME THAT THESE TIRES ARE MADE OUT OF A COMPOUND THAT ARE NOT MEANT TO LAST MORE THAN 20,000 MILES. I FEEL DODGE IS DELIBERATELY CHEATING THEIR CUSTOMERS BY PUTTING SUCH TIRES ON A VEHICLE THEY ARE SELLING OR LEASING. *TR
WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT VEHICLE STUTTERS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. WHILE WAITING AT LIGHT THE VEHICLE ENGINE DIED. THIS CONTINUED FOR SEVERAL TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. NO WARNING LIGHTS NO WARNING. EXCEPT TRANSMISSION STUTTER. CALLED DEALER ABOUT ISSUE, THEY TOLD US IF THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE ISSUE NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIX. SO I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY ASKED US WHAT WE WANTED THEM TO DO? I TOLD THEM I WANTED THIS CAR FIXED. SO THEY RECOMMEND OF COURSE BRING IT TO DEALER. AND WE DECIDE TO BRING BACK TO DEALER. IN THE TIME BEFORE BRINGING INTO DEALER VEHICLE HAS DIED OVER A DOZEN TIMES. IN TRAFFIC MAIN HIGHWAY. AND NO MATTER IF IT WAS A WARM ENGINE. COLD ENGINE. JUST DIES WHENEVER IT WANTS. ALSO BEFORE WE GOT THIS INTO SHOP. STEREO STARTED CHANGING CHANNELS ON ITS OWN. YOU CAN CHANGE BACK TO STATION. AND FEW MINUTES LATER YOU WOULD HAVE STATIC. THIS WAS NOT THE ONLY ISSUES WE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE EITHER. THE FRONTEND HAD A LOUD BANG THUMP SOUND. SINCE IT WAS NEW, ALSO IN SHOP 4 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. FINALLY THEY REPLACED STRUTS, AND THE NOISE CAME BACK SEVERAL WEEKS LATER. THE STALLING IN TRAFFIC WAS MY LAST STRAW. I SENT IT TO SHOP, AND TRADED THIS VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER MANUFACTURES VEHICLE. I FEEL I WAS SOLD A PROBLEM AND FELT LIKE CHRYSLER EXPECTED ME TO JUST TOLERATE THESE ISSUES. WAY TOO MANY ISSUES FOR BRAND NEW VEHICLE. ALSO THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WE PAID TO PURCHASE VEHICLE. JUST FEEL SAFETY ISSUES NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
HAD REAR BRAKES PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED BECAUSE OF FROZEN CALIPERS. TOOK TO DEALER AND SAID THAT CALIPER PIN NEEDED TO BE GREASED.
SEAT SIDE PANEL COMING OFF AFTER PLASTIC TABS BROKE, SEAT BELT IS ATTACHED TO THIS PART AND THE DAMAGE GETS WORSE EVERY TIME I GET IN THE CAR, SINCE THE PANEL IS WHERE A PERSON WOULD GET IN THE CAR AND THE PANEL IS ONLY HELD ON BY 2 SMALL PLASTIC TABS THAT ARE NOT MEANT FOR HOLDING A PERSONS WEIGHT. *TR
STARTED GETTING A LOT OF GRUNTING FROM THE FRONT END WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AND TURNING INTO DRIVEWAY. THE DEALER LOOKED AT IT AND RETIGHTENED FRONT END PARTS AND SO FAR SEEMS TO BE OK. ALSO THE DUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL ONLY BLEW HOT AIR ON PASSENGER SIDE. THE DEALER HAD TO ORDER A NEW SERVO UNIT FOR THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL. MY VEHICLE STARTED KNOCKING AFTER MY SECOND OIL CHANGE. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT IT AND THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I ASKED THEM MORE THAN ONCE OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS WHEN I GOT REGULAR OIL CHANGES. THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THEN IN 2016 MY VEHICLE STARTED WITH A KNOCKING AND RANDOM MISFIRES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAMS WERE BLOWN, MY PISTONS WERE NOT WORKING AND MY LIFTERS WERE BAD. MY CAR IS FOUR YEARS OLD. AT THIS POINT JOHN AND I EXCHANGED SOME WORDS AND HE SAID YOU TOO.....ENDED UP HAVING MY GUY TAKE CARE OF THIS...600 $ LATER, AND FEELING MUCH SAFER, I NOW HAVE TWO NEW TIRES ON THE FRONT, FIXED THE ALIGNMENT AND ALSO PUT IN TWO FRONT CAMBERTS. HAVE HAD MY DODGE PURCHASED NEW FOR A LITTLE LESS THAN ONE YEAR. AT AROUND 20,000 MILES I NOTICED THE TIRES SEEMED TO BE WEARING EXCESSIVELY WHICH I THOUGHT WAS STRANGE WITH NEW TIRES. I REQUESTED AT MY NEXT OIL CHANGE TO HAVE THEM ROTATED TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP. NEVER PAID IT MUCH MORE ATTENTION UNTIL MY TRACTION LIGHT KEPT COMING ON WHEN DRIVING IN REGULAR WEATHER CONDITIONS IN ADDITION TO WET CONDITIONS. I CONTACTED THE DEALER HAD MY CAR INSPECTED. THE SUSPENSION AND ALIGNMENT SEEMED TO BE FINE THERE WAS NO EXPLANATION WHY MY TIRES AT THAT POINT 28,000 WERE BALLED AND DOWN TO THE TREAD INDICATORS ON ALL FOUR TIRES. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED KUMHO WHO ADVISED I DID NOT HAVE A WARRANTY FOR REGULAR TREAD WEAR AND DODGE STATES THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TIRES THE WARRANTY IS THROUGH KUMHO. WELL WOULD YOU EXPECT TO HAVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF NO TREAD BEING LEFT AT 28,000 MILES? I WOULD NOT UNTIL I CONTACTED KUMHO TO DISCUSS MYSELF AND WERE ADVISED THAT THE TIRES ARE MADE OUT OF A COMPOUND THAT IS NOT MEANT TO LAST THAT LONG AND ARE NOT OF THE SAME MATERIAL AS YOU WOULD BUY A NEW SET OF TIRES OF THE SAME BRAND AND SIZE FROM A TIRE DEALERSHIP DIRECTLY. THEY MAKE THE TIRES TO THE MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS AND THEY ARE NOT MEANT TO LAST SO BALLED TIRES AT 20,000 MILES IS ACCEPTABLE AND SAFE FOR NEW DODGE JOURNEY OWNERS! WHEN I AM IN AN ACCIDENT WITH MY FAMILY BECAUSE OF THESE TIRES BEING MADE OUT OF A COMPOUND THAT IS ONLY MEANT TO LAST A FEW MILES THEN SOMEONE WILL HERE ME THEN I AM SURE! I WAS TRAVELING IN THE SLOW LANE OF ROUTE 2, WHEN ANOTHER CAR CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF ME. CAR HIT DIRECTLY IN DRIVERS DOOR. THE SIDE OF THE CAR WAS DAMAGED BADLY, TO THE POINT WHERE THE DOORS WERE NOT ABLE TO BE OPENED. I HAD TO BE REMOVED OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AND COMING TO A STOP THERE WAS AN AWFUL GRINDING NOISE AND IT FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE MIGHT BE JERKING OR NOT STOPPING CORRECTLY. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FIRST THING ON MONDAY AND AFTER THEIR INSPECTION WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS ARE DEFECTIVE. THERE WAS SOME SURFACE RUST ON THE PADS AND ROTORS, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT IS NORMAL AND THAT THESE PARTS ACCUMULATE RUST OVERNIGHT BUT IT NORMALLY GRINDS OFF WHEN DRIVING THE NEXT DAY. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HAVE THE REAR BRAKE PADS OR ROTORS IN STOCK, SO THEY ARE ON ORDER. I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE WOULD BE OK TO DRIVE UNTIL THE PARTS COME IN AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME THAT I HAD TO COME PICK THE JOURNEY BACK UP AND COULD NOT LEAVE IT AT THE DEALERSHIP. WITH THE GRINDING NOISE, VEHICLE JERKING AND NEW KNOWLEDGE OF THE "DEFECTIVE" PARTS, I AM NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE RIGHT NOW. *TR

THERE IS NO WAY TO DETERMINE HOW LONG IT WILL REMAIN OFF. EVERY TIME I GET AN OIL CHANGE, IT IS TURNED OFF. LAST WEEK, IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF.
